I had an excellent experience with the management of Hometown Inn. I left something in my hotel room, called them shortly after I had left the hotel, and they sent it to me immediately! The woman I spoke to was so nice and helpful, I just had to write a review to thank them for the amazing customer service.The hotel room itself was clean, simple, and had all the essentials, including a mini fridge. The bed was relatively comfortable and blackout curtains closed out almost all the light. I could hear people moving around upstairs, but with the fan on the air conditioning unit turned on it didnt bother me.
The staff was super nice, although the smell was not nice in the lobby. Their family was sweet.We ended up leaving after seeing dead bugs on the wall and layers of dust on the walls and above the bathroom.We saw what we thought could be bed bugs, but didnt stay long enough to find out for sure.Expensive lesson learned.
Clean room, friendly staff, reasonably priced and close to town and events. Keep a sharp eye out for the turnoff; it comes up suddenly, but is boldly marked on the side of the building if you are watching coming from the North. Love that they have a chair outside every room for porch sitting! Would stay here again!
The owner was very friendly and very accommodating. The room was clean and it was nice and quiet. Great location as far as being close enough to the city but off a main road. All in all I would stay there again. But if you are used to continental breakfast and room service, this is not the place for you. It is just a nice clean room to stay in when you need one.
It reminded me of the Bates Motel but very clean! We enjoyed our stay but the pictures posted on the web arent what you will get! We enjoyed it and decided that we would classify it as a camping trip! We plan to go back because the staff was great and we really enjoyed ourselves!!
Clean,cozy,convenient and cheap . What more could you ask for?. Its a little dated but it was clean . Bedbug free! They have flat-screen tvs a mini-fridge and a coffee machine. some big chain places dont offer that. The front desk lady was very nice too. For the small price of 65 dollars in was very pleased. Id go there again.
Very reasonable price. Old hotel but its clean and quiet. The staff are very nice. Its starting to look run down in the rooms. If your needing a cheap place to stay with good weekly rates that is decent, you would like it.
My daugther is an OU student. She got very sick overnight. I traveled 4 hrs to get there. Staff was very friendly, brought us extra blankets and a heating unit as she was running a high temp. We stayed there for 3 nights and never once they bothered us. Quite on the contrary, they took interest on her well being. Room was very clean and comfortable. Property very clean. Thumbs up for them
We stayed here for 2 nights after being denied a room that was reserved at a different hotel .The rooms were clean the staff very friendly . There was no issue at all at check in . Over all nice hotel on a budget and more than adequate for a decent weekend visit. I have to say its one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. We would stay again .4 stars
DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION HERE. First time Ive ever complained or wrote a bad review for a hotel: Walked in to a piece of trash underneath the top bed cover. Ugly stain on middle of sheet. Most likely sheets were not washed. Insect legs on top of the bathroom towels in addition to insects in the room itself. And the kicker - no refund at all. Horrible management.

Never have I ever wrote a bad review. drove 5 hours from our home town in PA just to get here and they didnt have any electricity. didnt give us our money back. still charged us so that was great. also the owners suck! we asked if they knew any nearby hotels that would allow us to come this late. the hotel is right off of 50 so he points in the left direction, because thats helpful. and not to mention the office is dirty and the smell is awful. do not even recommend this place to my worst enemy.
This place is horrible! No one could stay connected to the Wi-Fi for more than a few minutes at a time for two nights straight. when I brought this up to the owner he tried to use his cell phone to prove me wrong what did not turn off mobile data. They were very rude. we paid for breakfast with our stay and the breakfast was literally box of Little Debbie honey buns and dingleberry porridge. one sitting on the shower sounded like there was a gas powered motor on the other side of the wall. And we found weird striped brown little brown bugs.
It was a nice older motel. The room was clean and the AC strongly blew cold air. The room had a comfortable bed. I’ll stay here again the next time I’m in town.
Thr manager was extremely rude and wanted to tag on all kinds of fees. Room was booked online for three people, manager proceeded to try to charge for the third person and charge $50 for the use of a debit card. Would not recommend this place at all.
Was going there for the Saturday Brew week party. I got to the hotel at 10:30am and the owner allowed me to check in then even though check in was at 3:00pm. Room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed my stay.
I had a friend staying here for an event. I did not actually stay here but had a few observations. First of all, this place is pretty cheap, which is nice. The amenities are about in line with the price. Second, it was definitely a bit on the seedy side. When I pulled up one night to drop him off, there were numerous people outside yelling at each other, obviously drunk and just hanging around out on the balcony, in the parking lot, stairways, etc. Overall, this isnt a place to stay with the wife and kids. But if you need a cheap spot just to crash for the night, this is place is worth a consideration.
Very comfortable for budget travelers. Staff are friendly and allow late check-in. Only downside was a bad smell in the bathroom which was quite prominent even with windows open. However, that isnt a deal breaker for the value of the place and proximity to Athens breweries!
Family owned, very nice and friendly! Very clean rooms. Has fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron, and hair dryer. Great place for the price, everything needed for a getaway. And in beautiful Athens, considered 13th most haunted place in WORLD! Has the Athens insane asylum!! Must see!!
Only have muffins and coffee for breakfast. Nasty and stinky. Very loud, can hear every move upstairs. Beds are like laying on plain SPRINGS! Small rooms, crappy lighting. Shaky toilet. Nothing good about this place. Could not get the TV to work.
In need of a economical and clean place for my family and I to stay, due to some much needed rest from traveling over 600 miles. The staff was very welcoming and the facility was clean. Thanks for the hospitality. I will return.

Home stay inn is a nice place. It was clean, everything worked, had a nice flat screen with 70 chanels. Bathroom was very vlean, clean white bed sheets and comfortable bed. Only complaint is its a little expensive at $73.45 with AAA discount and after tax. Overall i would stay here again.
At first glance, I was amazed how clean it is. Dated? A little. Lady at the front desk? Very friendly while a language barrier is a little tricky, but doable for sure. Other than a little dust on the back of some areas, this place is spotless!! Priced well for just a rest stop.A+++++

If I could give this hotel a negative I would. THEY HAVE BEDBUGS!!!!!! Do not stay here! The manager is very rude, the rooms are dirty and not kept up. Im VERY disappointed and I booked this on expedia. Asked for a refund because my family had bug bites all over them the next morning and I got a run around so I contact Expedia and they wouldnt do anything about it! I wont ever book with Expedia again!

Horrible! BUGs! Roches all over! And the owner is a piece of something else! He makes you feel stressed out from the time you walk in, to the time you leave! I know this from 2016 but messed up and came back. Truly the worse ! Pay 10$ or $20 more and go to a place.

2022-05-24Location is convenient to Athens, however, it is difficult to get to the road. Dont rey on Google maps. Room was very clean and comfortable. There was a microwave and refrigerator. The refrigerator sits on the floor and is difficult to access. Rooms are dated and could use a little update, especially more outlet locations. I would have given 5 stars, but the ac unit is too loud to be able to sleep. Would stay there again, but not in really warm weather.

2022-06-15The place is decent for the price. Traveling through and need a place to sleep then okay. I wouldn’t stay here for anything either than a passing through scenario. Bed was not the most comfortable and the room had a not-so-pleasant smell. It needs updating. The staff is friendly.

2021-10-16First off this place is a gem. Its definitely a work in progress but the family who owns/runs it are are just the sweetest and you can tell they put their all into it. Our room was clean, smelled clean and was comfortable. It was like something out of Schitts Creek, very charming

2021-08-09It wasnt a bad place and the guy at the front desk was really nice. The place was pretty clean and neat, but the beds were absolutely horrible though. If they replaced the beds with nicer ones, I would give this place a better rating.

2020-10-18This hotel was absolutely lovely nice room great price. My fiance and i booked a 3 night weekend for our 7 year anniversary and we had a blast. The hotel was conveniently located right off the highway and a very helpful sign right on the left that tells you where to turn. This sign helped us a lot. 👍 We checked out all kinds of trails and tons of food and things to do not far from the hotel. We will definitely return again. The family that runs the hotel are the sweetest people i have ever met. Best hotel for a great price and close to Hocking Hills.

2019-07-16Clean, comfortable and an excellent location. I have spent 4 three day weekends there now (it would have been 5, but on one trip they were booked up), and the one word I could use to describe my experiences there would be personable. The family who runs this Motel is friendly and cordial, the building is dated but they maintain clean, comfortable rooms. At the end of the day some tenants like to sit outside their rooms and watch the sun set behind the tree line to the west, that is when it becomes personable. I have met, and visited with, different people from various areas of the region on each trip. Its like a home away from home for me when I visit the Athens area. I love it there and plan to return again.
