Holtmans Donuts in other cities:
Maybe all the great reviews are because these folks get here when they open, so they have great selection. I just left empty handed at 11AM on Sunday, because the selection was horrible. This location, when they first opened, had a good, if not great selection, of donuts nearly up until they closed. Now, often, no one is there making donuts late morning. If youre not going to keep making donuts while youre open, you may as well shorten your hours.
The donuts are wonderful, worth the hype. We got there later in the day, so there were only a few types to choose from. Big, open space inside with outdoor seating, as well. Easy to find from highway. Parking can be tight because its a fairly busy plaza, but its a free lot.
The assortment of donuts is almost overwhelming. Each time I have visited, the store has been exceptionally clean, had friendly staff members and plenty of fresh donuts. A dozen donuts is going to be a bit pricey compared to the competition, but it is worth the money.
Excellent donuts. Loved the buttermilk bars which have gotten difficult to find. Very nice selection - friendly staff. I love donuts and these are really food. Very fresh, lots of flavor selection. Only critique - do not put that maple bacon on blueberry. Other than that I will be back for sure next time in the area.
Holtmans is the best donuts in the greater Cincinnati area. Every time I stop by the customer service is AMAZING! Especially Jessica she is one of the front of house workers. She always gives me and my family amazing customer service. She always packages our donuts the correct way and is always so kind!
I LOVE this place. I come here a few times a month. The customer service is great always. The donuts are on point every time. I am severely allergic to eggs and they make amazing vegan donuts (avail thu, fri, + sat) Pictured is a regular donut my fiancé got. So adorable
From first sight, the aesthetic of the building exterior draws you in. It is cute. Its not often you describe a building exterior as such, but its warranted here, with the black and white striped awnings and the pink donut signage with the little bite taken out of it.The cute theme continues in the interior of the donut shop. The floors are black and white patterned tile and the fixtures and furnishings are trendy. It is also clean, and carries the Covid signage and preparations you expect to see.Now for the important part... the DONUTS. While I cannot speak to their selection prior to the pandemic, I can tell you I was impressed to find such a wide variety and stock at 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. I chose a half dozen, each donut different, and a small cup of coffee. We sampled a cinnamon sugar twist, chocloate glazed with caramel drizzle and toasted cocounut, glazed with chocolate drizzle, oreo crumble, original glazed that the employee thought was pumpkin (sigh), and the pièce de résistance a powdered red velvet. BOOM! All of them were delicious, but that powdered red velvet will be in my dreams tonight. Personally, my least favorite was the oreo crumble. If I could change one thing about my experience, it would be to include signs that label the donuts. I was pretty disappointed by the pumpkin donut mixup.Overall, the prices were reasonable, the environment welcoming, and the donuts delicious. We would return.
This place is fantastic! A must visit if youre in the area. We visited 5 of the shops on the Ohio Butler County Donut Trail and this was the best by far of the ones we visited! The marshmallow donut was fantastic, our favorite donut of the day! We also had the chocolate and peanut butter one. Both were very good.We keep coming back here and its always awesome: great donuts & great service, with different donuts each time!
Great location with the best donuts I’ve ever had!! If you’re a newcomer here make sure you get the fruity pebbles donuts! So delicious. This last time we went to this location we ordered a king cake for Fat Tuesday. One of the best I’ve ever had! Some places skimp on the cinnamon and icing on their king cakes but no Holtman’s in West Chester. Great location!
Very good donuts and service. First time coming here and I was not disappointed. I’m from Michigan and me and my wife had to check it out now we are in love. 😂 I would definitely come back. Hopefully they bring a location to Michigan. I tried the pumpkin donut with espresso icing it was amazing I recommend it.
I love walking into this bright and cheerful shop! The selection of doughnuts is impressive and all the selections have been delicious. They even have a doughssant (or a cronut) that’s worth a try, and their German Chocolate doughnut is a unique offering and delicious.
I LOVE Holtmans donuts! I had heard about them non-stop but always seemed to get to the OTR location after they were sold out. Happened to be re-routed during my morning commute up 75N and had to stop! Got two dozen mixed donuts for work. I think my favorite is the blueberry maple bacon, although Im also obsessed with the cereal ones! Were a fairly small office, so I had a couple to take home to my family. AND, I got my first donut trail stamp! Will definitely be back - great location!
I see why Holtmans is a Cincinnati favorite! They have a wide selection of really creative donuts as well as many of the basics. The raised donuts have an amazing, pillow-like texture; Id also highly recommend trying their doughssant. You can expect the donut cases to be just as full and fresh in the afternoon as they are in the early morning. All-around, Holtmans is an amazing, family-run business that deserves Cincinnatis loyalty!
Pretty disappointed after seeing all the five star reviews. We had high expectations. The donuts were decent but not five star worthy. I will say though that the blueberry filling actually tasted like blueberries and was very good. However, the donuts themselves didnt have much flavor and some of them were very dry. There were plenty of types of donuts I had never seen before like the creme brulee one but it sadly didnt have much flavor to it.
We swing by occasionally when in the area, usually after dinner at one of the neighboring restaurants. Holtmans does extend their hours until inventory is gone. We have also tried the morning shift. Donut selection tends to lean toward the current fascination with exotic toppings VooDoo Donuts & others have popularized - bacon, breakfast cereal, etc... The challenge is that the standard donuts tend to fall short compared to other options, regardless of time of day.
Hands down the best donuts in the city. Always fresh and constantly rotating in new flavors to try. The employees are always so helpful too. Whenever we have friends or family visit we always introduce them to Holtmans and they are always blown away and request them on the next visit!
Oh....my....goodness! These are in a class by themselves. As a donut lover, I have tried them all, but these are wonderful. If you have ever had that empty feeling after eating a donut, that feeling like youd have to eat 3 to feel like youd eaten anything, youre in for a different experience. Though I wont discourage you from getting more than one because the flavors are great (most highly recommend the cheese crowns and blueberry bacon donut...do not judge until you try it!!), these are much more substantial! The cake especially- these are a little chewy on the outside, and a little denser inside. The glazes and fillings are fresh and real tasting, and sweetness is well balanced . There are a few very good donuts in the area, but if youre going to choose just 1 to deviate from your diet for, Holtmans is absolutely the only one that is worth it, in my book.
I’m not really sure what all the hype is about. Sure they have creative flavors but when they’re dry, sometimes crunchy and taste like oil it doesn’t matter. We have had donuts from here on two occasions in a variety of different flavors. Both times I went in the morning before 9. All 5 of us agree there are much better options out there for donuts.
What a miserable employee we encountered Sunday on the donut trail. We were elated to see such an adorable shop when we pulled up! But the interaction with the employee left a terrible taste in our mouth. Customer service isnt for everyone, maybe she was just having a bad day but maybe consider sticking in the back next time. I havent had a chance to taste the donut yet but if its anything like the employee I will be back to give a 1 star instead.
Warning!!! Could be hazardous to your health and your car tires if u stop by!!! Lol yes because your tires wont last long driving here every day!!Lol Do not try the German chocolate cake doughnut or the Buckeye doughnut!!! Im afraid if u do there wont be left for me when i come back !!! Lol
Date of Visit: Monday May 20th, 2019While Roguetrippers visited Cincinnati, we took advantage of checking out the Butler County Donut Trail. We love donuts, so we had to check out as many places as we could.Holtmans was a nice stop on the trail. This is a cute donut shop. bright, colourful, and inviting. When we arrived, unfortunately, there was not a lot of donuts to choose from.We ended up getting a glazed Red Velvet and a powdered red velvet. There were not many elaborate flavours available at that time. The service was good, very friendly and nice. The donuts were soft and fresh, and nice flavour.Prices are very reasonable.Check them out when you are in the area on the Butler County Donut Trail - and get your passport stamped.
They have a very nice assortment of donuts, they are almost always very busy on the weekends. The shop is very well taken care of and clean. I love that they have viewing windows into the kitchen so you can watch the entire process of donut making. Its also nice because theres a bit of relief when you can see your food being prepared where you can see it.
The location and atmosphere of this location are spot on. My kids loved being able to see the inner workings of how donuts are made. We enjoyed our donuts and coffee while there. We were disappointed on how they were the next day though - they were so much better fresh. We will come back, but only get enough to eat there. The staff were energizing and were animated with my kids - though every donut they said was blueberry, wasnt. Oh well! It was a nice treat after Duluth Trading with my family. EDIT: Ive upgraded my rating for four stars based on the coffee alone.
Were just visiting the area and had never heard of Holtmans. Im an acupuncture physician, and Im not in the habit of recommending sweets, but I really love donuts. I also believe in moderation, though, and the occasional treat is really not going to do you any harm. So we tried Holtmans. I got a cruller and a cake donut with sugar - a true splurge for me. The cruller rocked, but the cake donut was so good it made me want to cry. Even the powdered sugar on the outside tasted different. It reminded me of childhood. And the texture of the donut itself...I really believe that may have been the best donut Ive ever put in my mouth. They have a Donut Trail here, and now Im tempted to try every place on it! Its probably better that Ill have to go home soon instead. Thank you to Holtmans Donuts for a remarkable donut experience.
I always picked up donuts from the Goshen store and did breakfast catering at the office too. Ill now be visiting the West Chester store. Your donuts are always delicious. My favorite is the bacon maple. You should put one up in the Colerain area. No doubt, it will be a success. All store fronts are amazingly beautiful.
Best donuts in Cincy. The Doughssant may be $4, but it is worth. Every. Penny. They also have vegan options (My wife is quite partial to the cinnamon sugar vegan donut) and my daughter loves the cereal donuts. Also follow them on any social media platform to watch for great and innovative seasonal/limited special donuts.
Im not a huge donut fan. But every since i stumbled across holtmans im addicted to the buckeye donuts they are the best! But all of their donuts are awesome and i love going to the milford location atleast every other day all the staff are awesome just 😍 love it def a must stop at place
Love the space and options. Ordering is a little weird in that the line forms against the display units, so its hard to peruse the different donuts easily. So you start filling up a box with a dozen donuts as you move along the display boxes, and start to see more delicious options after youve already chosen many donuts earlier, and start to regret your earlier choices. Guess Ill just have to try them next time :)So, only suggestion would be to form the line out from the display units so the donuts can more easily be seen.
Some of the best donuts in the city. Selection is usually much more robust on the weekends. Had a blueberry rosemary fritter this past weekend that was fantastic. Highly recommend this or any of their locations for a good sugar rush that will have you craving another visit.
This was our last stop on the donut trail challenge. This store actually had unique donuts that you dont see everywhere but the problem was that they were not fresh. I tried a chocolate donut with Cocoa puffs on top and the Cocoa puffs were very stale. The same goes for their cinnamon braided donut. If youre going, find out when they make their donuts in go then to get a good donut experience.
Service was excellent although donuts were dry. It was later in the evening so the selection was limited and even the cake donuts were dry, crumbly and a bit bland. Defiantly not super sweet...I will stop back to try some donuts earlier in the morning -closer to the time they are made ; to get a better, more accurate taste!!
Ive visited this Holman many times, both before the pandemic and a few during. Everything Ive been in there it was great. The staff is super friendly, even when I was taking a long time. Tori was super lovely. The only issue Ive occasionally had was some rude locals who dont seem to think masks are important. That said they would not keep me from Holtmans.
I am a huge proponent of local business and was 3rd person in line when they opened this store for the first time. So the desire and love was real...I bring people into Cincinnati from all over the world for my business and I had traditionally picked those people up in the morning after their arrival to bring them to select donuts at Holtmans...It’s unfortunate that this activity has ceased as their staff/quality control and overall cleanliness has slipped drastically in the short time they have been open.Donuts are often not fresh/day old or at least old enough to have a tough outer crust.Donuts not having the filling (that you paid extra for) when donuts are no longer a CHEAP breakfast at 26 bucks a dozen or MOREI was a huge fan of the ungodly expensive Cronut after getting these raw in the middle 2x twice (I was refunded both times)And the place is just getting an overall film of filth on everything. The once beautiful tile floor is now yuk for a lack of a better term. Tables have funk from the previous visitors of days gone by.This was once the Mecca and now it’s those expensive donuts that are eh.It’s unfortunate and a product of uncaring employees lacking in passion and the owners vision.
Delicious and fun flavors. Definitely an interesting stop on the donut trail. Make sure they put wax paper between the donuts. First bakery that didnt do that in 40 years. Customer service could use some enthusiasm or caffeine. Wanted to buy more but staff seemed frustrated at us for browsing. Hopefully next time is more positive.
I was so excited try these donuts... spent 18 dollars on a dozen donuts ...brought them home to my family and everyone was very disappointed!! They were very strange tasting.. they tasted like pure oil! No donut taste... the cake donuts were so old and just crumbled! I will never go back... Dunkin’ Donuts are no doubt better than this place! Im so confused as to why these donuts were so bland and tasted like oil. Not worth the money at all!!!
Disgusting and dry. Bad bad attitudes from everyone. Encountered employee with the worst customer service. If I wanted dry doughnuts with cereal just thrown on them I could just go to Walmart and do it myself. Walked in and it was dirty stuff all over the place. Nothing wiped off.
Nice old-fashioned donut shop. Tasty, but dont think youre going to get something remotely healthy. The coffee is super good, too. Dunkin used to be like this before they went to the ship everything in frozen like Panera model. New, clean, and lots of variety. You can even watch them making the donuts through the window into the kitchen.
The donuts are consistent with what you would find in a holtmans donut shop. excellent donuts that are delicious. Unfortunately both times I have come in the service has been subpar. Dry, bordering on rude service. Both times the service had an atmosphere of wish you were not here*Edit I was kindly contacted by a manager and she did a great job taking ownership and making it right with me!
I visit Duluth often and decided to try Holtmans Donuts because I love donuts. I wasnt impressed with the donut, I found it not that distinguishable from donuts I can buy from the local grocery bakery. If you want marshmallows or other toppings on it, it is definitely different from grocery store. What annoyed me most about my visit was the person that helped me get my donuts. It was my first time there didnt know what they have or what I wanted or how many and the person kept asking me how many donuts I wanted before she would help me. She insisted she needed to know in order to pick the right package to place my donuts in. I didnt realize that it was that important instead of helping first time customers. Dont plan on visiting this place again.
Visited at 11:30am on a Saturday. This was our second visit in the last couple months. The dining room was covered in sprinkles and frosting and used napkins. The staff were using 2-3 of the 8-10 tables they have, and I cleaned the last available table (hi top) myself. I asked if the single remaining sprinkles donut in the case was the last sprinkles one they had - they said yes so my boys shared it since they both wanted sprinkles. Not 5 minutes later they wheeled out two big carts of hundreds of donuts that had been sitting in the kitchen (including many sprinkles of course). 🤦♀️
Not quite as good as I wanted it to be. The large, pretty store make you expect a lot, but the staff isnt overly friendly, like they all have to take pre-shift Xanax, and the donuts, though with fancy flavors, are meh. The actual donut part just leaves a lot to be desired. The pastries are pretty on point, but for a donut shop, I actually want the donuts to be the star of the show.
These are some of the best donuts in Ohio. The original location in Milford is the best but the location in West Chester is more modern and has a lot more variety. They are a must check out if you are a Cincinnatian, but even a visitor as well. Blueberry and the raspberry were the best.
These doughnuts are just ok. I had a variety today and was really looking forward to the buckeye doughnut, my hometown bakery sells a buckeye doughnut too, I was ready to bite in and find it filled with peanutbutter filling but was disappointed. The doughnut was a bit dry and really needed a filling. I asked the girl for a red velvet one, which I thought was the one with the cream cheese frosting swirled on top, thats not what I got. I did get a bright red cake doughnut that didnt really resemble red velvet. The lemon doughnut was ok, really needs more lemon flavor. Overall they were ok, like I said, but for $18 for 12 doughnut I expected more.
Very overpriced. While they have a lot of selections most of them were made way earlier in the day or possibly even earlier. So purchasing the fancy Donuts with all the bells and whistles let us down because they were not stale but they were also not fresh. Ill continue to go to Stan The Donut Man
Delicious, variety, delicious oh did I mention delicious. I love Holtmans. In my humble opinion the best way to tell if a donut place is good is through the basics. The infamous glazed donut. Holtmans has a fantastic basic donut and it only gets better from there. Definitely worth the visit.
Donuts are made fresh from scratch every single day, what else can I say? The yeast donuts are soft and fluffy on the inside with a sweet golden crust on the outside and the cake donuts are moist and dreamy! I recommend the vanilla cake with maple bacon or the classic yeast with vanilla sprinkles. Hands down the best donuts I’ve ever had! The coffee is always hot and the Highlander Grogg is almost caramel tasting which is phenomenal!! My wife says I come here so often I must have a mistress working! How about that!!! LOL!!
Holtmans West Chester prepared the donuts for our wedding dessert bar and did a fabulous job. They even special ordered some beautiful sprinkles for just a couple dozen donuts. Prices were great, as well. Communication was always prompt and easy, as was contracting and payment, everything turned out exactly as discussed. We loved our Holtmans wedding donuts!
Donuts are always good and today was not a disappointment. The service was not the greatest from one person who obviously was tense due to the steady crowd. She was rushing everyone and came across as rude and inattentive. Not bad enough to discourage me from going back though and you should go as well.
Been a costumer of Holtman’s for 15+ years Always have gone to the Loveland location. But Since they are remodeling it have tried the west Chester one multiple times. It has been horrible every time. And they never have any doughnuts available. Hoping that the Loveland one Is done soon and back the way it was.
The line out the door should tell you how good they are...Either get there early or expect a line which is ok..it moves pretty quick..Part of the Donut trail for the location in west.chester. Not a bad Donut on the menu. Great place all around. If i had to recommend get the red velvet..
Went there on Valentines Day and they only had 2 girls working! There was only 6 people ahead of me and it took them 10 + minutes to help them. The reason I say 10 PLUS MINS. is because I left and they was still helping the SAME 2 PEOPLE...The donuts looked great but their customer service sucks. Hire more help!!!
I’m giving this a 2 Star bc when my husband and I went today at 6:30, only a couple donuts were left and one type of donut. We saw several people walking out angry. When we were about to walk in, a Custmer told us to walk away since there was nothing left. This should never happen with them being 1.5 hours away from closing. We drove 30 mins just to be disappointed. Very bad management.
Really disappointed. I so wanted to love Holtmans, but the customer service was rude, the line was slow, and the donuts were just meh. I prefer Graeters donuts hands down. And, fair warning, they will not give you a cup for water - they insist you buy bottled water, even when you already ordered a dozen donuts, coffee, and milk.
Ive been to every other Holtmans location and loved everything Ive ever had. Except now. They had a whopping 4 varieties of flavors. None of which I was looking forward to. Where were the staples? Apple fritters? Cinnamon twists? God forbid there be a red velvet. I settled for a dozen donut holes only to bite into a powdered morsel with all the flavor and tenderness of a cardboard box. Needless to say I will not return to this sad excuse for a Holtmans bakery. My high expectations and I will be going to the original Holtmans location in Loveland where they have a wall and a case full of fresh donught delicacies at every hour.
Innovative recipes and stylish design. A small do it shop with a big atmosphere, cant go wrong at Holtmans. Just a few recommendations, add a trash can outside so people with coffee can throw other cups away. Maybe add a few more coffee options like an esspresso or cold brew. Something g more then a keiger. Tasty and delicious.

2021-10-18The store downtown is the institution but this is a less equal sibling. The red velvet cake donut is my favorite but the same West Chester store was compact and not fluffy like expected. The service was good with a similar setup to downtown. The yeast donuts are good but still in the mid grade ranking. There are better available.

2022-07-08Holtzmans always has a great, ever changing selection of delicious donuts. They have traditional go to plain cake, glazed yeast donuts, or iced with sprinkles, along with more creative & adventurous flavors like breakfast cereal topped iced cake donuts, & maple icing topped with bacon, etc.

2021-08-20Excellent selection of delicious donuts. Inviting space with plenty of seating. Friendly and attentive staff. Make sure you try a cake donut, I prefer any of the blueberry varieties. Lots of unique toppings on the glazed as well.

2022-07-10An absolutely great place for donuts. The variety is absolutely amazing. The place has fast service. All the donuts I ordered were fresh and hadnt been sitting in the case for long. The staff was great, no complaints. We will definitely be back soon. I will mix it up next time to try some other flavors.

2022-07-02Holtmans is my favorite donut shop in West Chester. They always have the best variety of donuts in my opinion. They are a little more expensive than other donut shops in West Chester, but its well worth it.

2022-04-03Delicious donuts, tons of variety, very nice staff. They have a really great bacon donut. Their creme filled donuts arent as good as other places.

2022-06-22A great donut place on route to work is essential, and Im glad to have found that in Holtmans. I treat my coworkers all the time! The quality is never lacking. I love the different specialty donuts that go in rotation. The people there are always pleasant, even before 8am!

2022-02-22Holtmans is the only place that still has the donut with chocolate frosting and chopped up peanuts 🥜. You can call them on the phone and pre-order even the smallest order. It has an old-school ice cream shop feel on the inside. The employees have thus far been amazing. I work close to the donut shop, so I enjoy them at least weekly. I highly recommend this food to people that can handle the rich deliciousness!
