Such a quaint & convenient location right by 4th street. Next door to The Marble Room which we knew as a bank, that also included this location. Jerica was amazing at the front desk, & all the valets. We get soooooo excited when we’re going to stay here!!! (About 15 yrs in a row). This is no cookie cutter hotel. The most unique of any IHG properties we’ve been to.
Positive: View from the room was awesome. Location is fantastic. Right in the heart of downtown Cleveland, can walk anywhere. Buffet style hot breakfast with doggy boxes if you wanted to bring it to your room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very cool building. Negative: The valet was kinda sketchy.
Location is unbelievable! I could walk to all of my destinations. Room was great for my needs - comfortable bed, free Wifi. Breakfast was an unexpected bonus. Staff were helpful and friendly. My only complaint is the shower. The shower head was facing the rear wall when I first saw it and now I know why...the shower curtain did not reach to the bottom of the shower and I almost flooded the bathroom when I had the shower head pushed to the center of the shower. Yes, it is in a cool old building, but there were obvious signs of wear and tear in public spaces, like chipped paint, large marks on the walls from carts. Still, I can recommend it due to its location.
Positive: It was clean, they have a free breakfast for guests. Staff is friendly and helpful. Negative: I didnt like that they put us in an adjoining room and there was a very loud family in there that sounded like they were in our room. Other than that, everything was fine.
Positive: The size of the room was well worth the money. The beds was comfortable and relaxing atmosphere Negative: The only thing was there was no brochure to help us find some thing to eat or what was close by places we maybe able to visit. But overall I was very happy with my experience and I will schedule another visit again.
I had to come in late, but there was an exceptional high floor corner room waiting for me. This location requires $29 valet parking so be aware. The architecture of this building is certainly representative of the downtown Cleveland Gothic motif. The room was certainly older, but renovated nicely. Breakfast was a little difficult to get to, but valet parking was responsive and had my car ready as soon as I came down form my room.
Rooms are updated and spacious. Very clean. No carpeting which is a plus. Nice hardwood floors. High ceilings. Stayed two nights in two different rooms. First night was in floor 13. Yikes LOL Building is historic and built around 1915. Both rooms were very nice. In room Keurig coffee machines with a few pods. They do have a nice breakfast buffet but I didnt try it. Shower has built in shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Huge bonus. They have a news stand/convenience store in the lobby but closes early. Easy walk to downtown things. Valet is nice. $30 a night. Would recommend and stay again. Bought my room off Agoda. Saved $30 a night.
Upon arrival there were so many cars out front I had to park on the street. (most of those cars were there the three days I was there) I had to search out the Valet and when I did finally find them they werent helpful at all. I then went to the kiosk to check in and the had to wait a very long time to even see someone which then took even longer to try and figure out how to check in. I got my keys and went to the elevator which seemed like it hadnt been touched since the 80s and the key didnt work to use the elevator so I had to go back and get another key. Once I got to my room the door looked like it had been broken into and the jam was far enough apart I could see a couple feet into the room without trying. Once in the room it smelled like mildew/musk and all of the vents to the HVAC were extremely dusty. Bed and Pillows were what you would normally expect from Holiday Inn Express but the rest of the furniture was very worn. It was a extreme challenge to close the curtains because they were so tall and a tv and console were directly in front of it. After all of that I went into the bathroom which was the nicest part about the whole room and there wasnt a shower curtain. I told someone that morning and it took me asking a second time about 12 hours later for a shower curtain to finally show up. I had called down to valet to get my car and went down a couple minutes later to check out. Walking up to the front desk I passed a security guard who was fast asleep and snoring and I had to basically go into the office to find someone to check out and then I proceeded to wait for my car. After 25 minutes of waiting from the time I called down I saw some movement from behind the valet desk and the person there was curled up into a ball and fast asleep. I will not be staying at this hotel again and Im honestly very surprised that the typical great quality and service that I have experienced from Holiday Inn Express was as bad as it was at this hotel.
Overall, great location and very clean hotel. I expected the all wood flooring to be a little dirty just from dust settling in places but there were times I walked around barefoot with no issues. The building is beautiful but very old. I think there could definitely be some other updates made while still keeping the old charm. Our view was great from the 13th (😳) floor. Very easy walk to 4th street and the Jack casino. Could easily walk to the baseball stadium or Q. The website says they don’t have a hotel restaurant and while that is technically true, there is a diner on the first floor (you can see the sign in one of the pictures), steak house on the right as you go out the front entrance, Shake Shack right next to that, and House of Creole (10/10 recommend!) across the street. Plus all the 4th street places. The high ceilings in the rooms and large windows let in so much natural light that you often don’t get in hotel. Bed was comfortable and I usually have trouble sleeping in places I’m not used to so that was a plus. Jacuzzi tub was wonderful nice after walking in the rain. The valet was pricey but I think worth the extra $70 ($60 for two nights plus tips) especially when it was windy, rainy, and chilly.
Chris the night front desk clerk was amazing checked us in faster then we ever had been and made the experience wonderful and there was a computer glitch that charged us an extra charge and we told Chris and he said he would take care of it and within 5 min the money was back on our card. Def best hotel cerk I have seen dont lose him one of the highlights of the hotel he deserves a raise
Positive: Hotel rooms was big and kept and is a block walk to a ton of things. Had Fridge, microwave and bar area with sink. Negative: Not really against the hotel but you need to pay for parking because they dont have any. Parking was 50 bucks because it was considered a event night, but normal nights are like 20
The Holiday Inn Express has been a really great experience during my work trip stay. The front desk customer service has been exceptionally awesome specifically from Jerrika. She’s very sweet and helped me with everything I needed without me even having to ask. 5 stars hands down and highly recommended!!!
By far the worst service I have ever had! We decided to go to Cleveland a day early so my wife and I could relax before her surgery at the Cleveland clinic, so we paid the extra and got a suite as well. The ice machine was not working on our floor so my wife calls to see if there is one available, she gets.....the machines are marked on the envelope that your keys are in. So I check to see what floors are working, ours is on the list so I call this time to ask again. Get a different, very rude individual female, that says well check the rest of the floors on the list then and hangs up the phone on me! So glad to see society is still looking after each other. I will never stay here again! The sad part is we still have another day here. I will update if anything changes
Positive: They provided not only the hot breakfast promised but a lovely social hour the night before with free drinks! Negative: The only parking option with the hotel is valet parking, which is a bit of an upcharge. I suppose you could park at one of the garages in the area, but I wish the hotel had its own garage you could park yourself.
Positive: Beautiful room. Staff professional and friendly Negative: The key cards kept having to be recharged, and it was difficult to make them work. I use a walker. In order to get to breakfast I had to go down to the lobby and use a service elevator. The valet service was problematic
The room was nice the jet tub was a little bit small and it was just me and my husband.Dont recommend valet it took almost an hour to get my car back and the free full breakfast was not what I was expecting just sausage gravy with biscuit and watery eggs. the room, valet, and all those added taxes not worth the money!
I was a guest at this hotel for my family reunion. I was going back to the bus n as I turned their automatic sliding door hit my face & body. Their doorman was an eyewitness to the incident. You maybe wondering why I didnt report it, I suffer with short term memory loss. The only reason I remembered what happened was that my son told me that I got hit with a sliding door when I came home complaining to my doctors about neck pain and swelling of my face. My left hand shakes all the time right now my son is typing this for me. Their insurance company is making me jump thru hoops to get the help I need. And they sent me $1000 total to cover all my bills but thats not to cover even some of the bills I have.
I left and went to the Drury. Be prepared to wait at least half an hour on the curb every time you want your car, and for this service youre going to pay 30$ a day in fees and tips. Was late to work because the valets were busy hanging out instead of working. The Drury is great, I will never go back.
Amazing location. Now the hotel needs a key for the elevator. even to get around the hotel you need a room key. From the room to breakfast, you need a key. If you receive one or 2 visitors, you will have to go down. Imagine with the cold how uncomfortable it is.I will not stay at this hotel again. It makes you feel insecure about the city. Used to visiting other cities where you can get in and out of hotels without any worries.
We have stayed here a few times now, we always have a good time in the Euclid area. It’s a short walk to the Jack, and I would suggest catching a comedy show at Pickwick and Frolic. They are hilarious. My only disappointment with this trip was that the cleanliness of the king suite was not up to par. They could have certainly done a much better job on that. Other than that, it was a great weekend get away.
Positive: I came for my birthday and my 1st room was fine a little dirty on the floors but fine.I extended my stay and the second room was dirty so we were moved to a 3rd room the room was ok beside the bathroom and the huge fact that I woke up with bites on my arm Negative: My left arm was bitten up by something while I was sleeping Im thinking bed bugs I was so freaked out I woke up at 5am and sat in the chair until it was time to leave I didnt receive a refund or anything else I just left so disappointed and Im a MEMBER
The hotel was very nice to stay at. The rooms are quiet and spacious. I felt safe there. It was just a short walk from my destination and right outside the hotel there is a whole street of restaurants, bars and shops and a movie theater. Plan to have your car picked up by a valet as there is no parking lot. The continental breakfast was terrible. I had that the first morning. the second morning I went to a cafe in the hotel and had a very tasty breakfast at a reasonable price. The room was clean but the halls leading to the room and the common areas were dirty. I will stay there again if Im going to the same destination. Very nice hotel.
Super cool hotel as it was previously used as a bank , which made the ambiance of it super cool! Rooms were fantastic, super clean and quiet. We ended up with an xtra person for our stay and because they could not honor our request for a rollaway bed, they upgraded our room to suite at no additional cost to me, which was fantastic. Breakfast was very good, and happy with the choices . The location was great as it was within walking distance to our initial destination and I felt safe walking to and from the hotel . I would totally stay at this hotel again in the future
Our experience at this hotel was very positive! Each and every staff member we encountered was very pleasant and helpful. We were extremely happy with the cleanliness of the room, especially after reading and searching for a hotel and had read so many reviews of other hotels in the surrounding area that were rated poorly. The room was very clean, a nice size, and included a refrigerator. Breakfast area was very clean, staff very cheery, and offered a nice variety. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
This is an old hotel and the lobby, halls and elevators need updating. I understand that is in the plans. Our room was spacious and clean. My hope is IHG (of course after pandemic) sees the value of the hotel as an Indigo or some of the modern choice in the portfolio. The hotel location, close to R&R Hall of Fame, but also walking distance to the shopping and restaurants areas is good. Cleveland downtown has many interesting restaurants.
The hotel building itself is very good. It is a historical building innovated into a comfortable and affordable hotel to stay. It is convenient to visit the center of the city Cleveland. The shopping and restaurants are just near by. The Arcade Cleveland is a must visit place. Valet parking cost is reasonable compared to other cities. We enjoyed the wonderful Christmas Lighting in Public Square which is in walking distance.
The Hotel was right downtown close to Arcade and Square. Dining galore. Theatres nearby. Parking was $27/night. Average for large cities. Room comfort and bed comfort easily made up for stark halls and funky elevator operation. The elevator DID make access to my 4th floor safer though. I made the effort to book through IHG website rather than other services. When we 1st entered elevator we had problem and security guard came to our rescue without our asking. Very alert staff.
All the employees made our stay. They are efficient, helpful and very friendly. We were impressed by this group of young people. Our room was perfect, we had a view of the city. Breakfast was good as well. The attendants were friendly, they really enjoy what they do. Overall a great stay in Cleveland.
DONT DO VALET. When you have to check out the next morning to get your car it was delayed by an hour and a half. When you tried to ask the front desk what the delay was she hands you an email for her manager…. Not helpful at all especially if you make check out at 11 but can’t leave until 12:30 because of this
Positive: Location was great. We could walk everywhere we needed to! Negative: The mattress in our room was beyond uncomfortable and given the season our room was extremely dry to the point I wished I had brought a humidifier. Breakfast also wasnt great, overcooked and no juice.
I really enjoy the Holiday Inn Express-Downtown Cleveland location. I have stayed here multiple time and will continue to do so when in the area. The staff are always exceptionally friendly and helpful. This property has a great location and convenient amenities. The only issue we have had recently is with the valet service. We have experienced confused attendants and long wait times to retrieve our vehicle. If this can improve, the hotel would be perfect.
Positive: If you need an inexpensive and relatively clean place to stay right downtown, this is a decent choice. There is also a free hot breakfast in the morning. Negative: This hotel is long overdue for an upgrade; its a 2-star at best. The room had a faint smoky smell. The bed, while comfortable, squeaked. The bench had a split in the upholstery. The toilet was loud and the tub was slow to drain. I wont stay here again.
We have stayed here before for both business and visiting our son, sometimes on the same visit. Comfortable, spacious room, nice TV, loved the shower! Kudos to front desk clerk who immediately phoned the room after I left my credit card down there when we checked in. Valets were good dudes. Breakfast was even a little better than the usual HIE fare. We will continue to stay there in the future.
Very pleased with our stay at the Holiday Inn in downtown Cleveland. The staff were extremely courteous and kind. The building is charmingly old. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was good with ample choices. Great location to visit and wander the downtown area of Cleveland, Ohio. Our window view was fairly poor, but we werent concerned with our window view. Fair warning if you choose to stay, the elevators are a bit tricky 😂
The location of the hotel was very centrally located to many tourist spots. We had no wait times with the valet service for our car. The size of the suite was great! Our only complaint was the green couch was COVERED in stains. It was gross! My son was sleeping on the pull out bed. They handed us fresh bedding when we got there so we knew it was clean. We just left the bed made the whole time and never used it as a couch. Our only other complaint was that you needed to use a key card to get to any of the floors. Im sure it was for safety, but the cards often took many attempts to work or didnt work at all. We saw many other guests have this issue as well. Overall, the staff was very nice and helpful. We would recommend it. Good value for the nightly rate.
This was my first (but not last) trip to Cleveland. Ive stayed in many IHG properties before. The staff at this location are, hands down, the friendliest and most professional of every place Ive been before. The front lobby manager (Michael, I think) was delightful and helpful when I checked in. And all the other staff, at the front desk, security booth, breakfast area, and the valet, were welcoming and cheerful. The location was perfect for walking thru downtown and to the Rock Hall. The hotel was clean and the location felt safe. I highly recommend this property.
This was our first time in Cleveland and had a really nice stay at this hotel! Very clean, the staff was very friendly and the room was very spacious. The hotel is located in the middle of everything; we were able to walk downtown easily and get a feel of the city. The nearby restaurants were closed (Mon & Tue at dinnertime), but the terrace in front of the hotel (The Sixth City Club) was open and beautiful, with lots of menu options!Vallet parking at the hotel was available for $27, but we were able to find parking around the corner for $16 daily.Breakfast was included in our stay, which was more than fulfilling and delicious!I was very pleased and I highly recommend it!
I know this is nitpicking but a few things I wish were slightly different. I wish they had ceiling fans or something to move the air other than heat and AC. The elevators need to be worked on, card readers seemed to all function differently on each elevator and looked un inviting. Rooms with windows that are 10 feet up and small that are facing a back alley should be cheap. Room was affordable but there aren’t any pictures of rooms like this on the website so naturally I was slightly disappointed, but the point is if your not proud enough to display this room in your gallery it shouldn’t be priced like the ones you are happy to show.
I am writing you about my stay at the holiday inn express. Our first room received smelled completely awful, old stale smoke and musty. I tried contacting the front desk and the phone was non stop busy we had to leave to go to the Van Gogh and then got some dinner at the marble room. We were hoping that the smell would go away. When we returned to the room the smell hit us like walking into a Smokey bar it was horrible. I called several times and it was busy finally I got through and was questioned why we didn’t tell them earlier and it felt like we were being accused with out directly being accused of making the room smell. They ended up moving us and apologizing for how bad it was room 608. Getting home today my husband asked if me and my friend were smoking and all of our belongings smelled so I washed everything including my bag. I have stayed with holiday inn properties in the past and I felt confident we would have a nice room to sleep. I was sadly disappointed by the customer service and how it is very difficult to get through on the phones. I just wanted you to know and to check the rooms throughly before placing guests.
Weve stayed at this location previously and will continue to return. We love the large rooms and beautiful views down Euclid Ave.The beds are very comfy and the shower is wonderful. The breakfast is top notch and the server there was very helpful and polite. The only negative is that one of the elevators was down and it took longer to reach our room.
This is a very nice downtown Holiday Inn Express with a friendly guest receptionist. Room was really nice. However definitely overbooked could not reserve a 3 night stay. Your only able to utilize valet parking unless you want to walk and park. The main road its down to one lane including the bus route. A tad bunched up traffic wise. Marble room steakhouse and Raw Bar was Delicious, a great recommendation.
I can’t say anything bad about our stay. The location is conveniently located within walking distance of many bars and restaurants. My interaction with staff members were positive and they were super friendly and helpful. The guest rooms are great, spacious and clean! You have to have a keycard to access room floors so there is an element of security to this hotel as well. I really enjoyed my stay!
Positive: Great staff, responsive valet parkers, very comfortable beds, very nice updated bathroom, good free breakfast. Lots of restaurants nearby. The 2 1/2 star rating is appropriate: there are no frills but it was perfectly adequate. A pleasant stay. Negative: Needed to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the breakfast room. Elevator did not go there ¿ a problem for those with mobility issues.
We stayed in a great room on the 12th floor with a built in jacuzzi tub, high ceiling, king bed, stall shower. It was a nice room overall. The elevator was slow going and small but clearly it was old, if not original. Which was surprisingly charming. The only real negative remarks would be that the ice machine wasnt working properly and that is it. That was a good stay at a reasonable price and I would chose to stay here again.
Overall good experience, wonderful room close to 4th st, baseball and casinos. Fun walk from there. Elevators have and old time charm and can be a challenge with the cars sweep for your floor. Great security though. Food was typical express buffet .. filling but nothing to write home about.
This hotel is clean, contemporary, and very, very well-located. The rooms are big, and the floors are finished wood, with high ceilings and big windows, so there is plenty of light. The hotel is in an excellent location right downtown, and the staff is always friendly. I always stay here, and look forward to my next visit.
I have spent four of the past five trips to Cleveland at this hotel. It has the best value, clean, huge rooms, a good variety of hot breakfast items, and a historic feel. Its also near everything... the theaters, great restaurants, the stadiums, and the convention center. Its quiet and perfect.
This place is weird, our room was very unconventional. Windows 8ft above the floor, no sunlight, and extremely noisy. If any other patron in the establishment used a bathroom or shower or sink, you would hear it. Constantly thought our shower was running. We were staying on the 3rd floor, I think it might be different the higher you are. So aim for the tenth floor up. Side note the complimentary breakfast was not bad, and the staff was extremely nice.
Our room was nice and spacious and the building itself was an architectural beauty but the hardwood floors amplified the noise from neighboring rooms and the hallways. I have never stayed in a hotel that was this loud! Bring earplugs.Terrible night because of that problem. But the staff were very nice. The bathrooms could definitely use an upgrade due to cracked tiles, sinks pulling away from walls and low lighting. And it was annoying having to wait so long for valet to bring the car. But I could overlook all of that if I could just get some sleep!
Positive: The character. It was an old bank built in the 1800s and renovated but kept the old look such as the ceilings, floors, etc. it was BEAUTIFUL!! My room was awesome. Free hot breakfast was delicious. Close to Cleveland Clinic. Negative: When I first got there it was very late and when I pulled up it was a long hallway, tall ceilings and I didn¿t see anyone. This was a bit scary, but all worked out.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express from 07/23/21-07/25/21, so I have no idea where to start from but upon checking in I waited in the lobby for 20-25 minutes and I was calling the phone I heard it ringing from the back but no one picked up. Just as security came in and went to the back office I do believe the same place I heard the phone ringing here comes your front desk attendant. She was very rude gave me and attitude as if she doesn’t want to be at work. Another issue I had was with checking in. If we can’t use our chime account or cash app cards we shouldn’t be able to book rooms with them. I lived 3 hours away and almost got turned away because of my choice of payment. Luckily it was my sisters wedding and family was there to help. That needs to be posted on website. However Tammy was a sweet young lady that I met on Saturday evening she was very helpful and respectful way better than the lady who checked me in. She made sure I was okay and even apologized for the other lady. I am very pleased with her, the rooms were very nice and clean and very comfortable and spacious, but my overall check in process was horrible and I don’t like how I was treated at all. Something needs to be done about this. Thanks again Tammy for everything you were amazing!!!Jessica McClure
We stayed here with a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday and have some fun in downtown. The room was very large with the pull out couch and 2 queenish beds. I think the beds were more like Full size and were the only real downside. The mattress was pretty bad and definitely not what I would describe as comfortable. The kitchen area was fine although we didn’t use it for much. The shower had the best water pressure I’ve ever seen and that was outstanding. Everyone commented on that. There was no exhaust fan though and that was a negative as well. The room was very clean and the location is great for pretty much anything downtown. I’d probably say this is 3.5 star place with all things considered but you can’t rate half stars so I bumped it to 4 since the pluses are greater than the negatives.
I loved the large rooms as well as the location of the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was excellent. The In and Out pass for Valet Parking was perfect! The elevator was very fast and the cleaning staff had the hotel in tip top condition. The Marble Room is just next door! I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone in the future! Also, there was a gentleman named Colin that was working outside checking vehicles and tending to recently arriving guests. He was absolutely the type of person that I would recommend for a promotion with your company. He really went out of his way to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Thank you for all of the great memories. We will definitely be back soon!
Was very impressed with this hotel. We stayed here on our wedding night and at the front desk Anthony upgraded our room. The entire staff from the security guard up front to the desk staff were always genuinely friendly and helpful. I liked atmosphere of the hotel. Definitely an older building but lots of character. Great location that is a short walk to the restaurants/ bars on Euclid and East 4th Street. Would absolutely stay there again
Location of hotel was great, check in easy. But: there are some beautiful wooden floors that make for terrible acoustics. We could hear everything in the adjacent room, including the person having an argument with another guest asking him to turn his music down. (We were on his side almost! The music was not loud at all, but you could in fact hear it pretty easily.) Hallway noise was also prominent- we were several doors away from the elevator and could still hear dings, etc.. Hotel needs to invest in better soundproofing on the doors between the rooms (we could clearly see light coming through the bottom of the door, so no wonder sound was getting through) and doors to the hallway.
Positive: The service was friendly and efficient. The room was great - clean, high ceilings, large and the beds and bedding were excellent. The breakfast and service in the morning was great. Negative: The toilet needed service. Maintenance came right up and snaked it immediately, but it seems the problem is more complex and a plumber was needed. But that was the only negative in our stay. We would stay here again if ever back in Cleveland.
The property could have a cool restored turn-of-the-century historic feel in downtown near the arcade and such, but just feels a bit shabby. The room was big and the ceilings high, but a sickly beigish green paint, lightbulbs in all different flourescent shades, and garish turquoise and red art made it not very attractive. The hotel needs a deep scrubbing to get rid of decades of tobacco use -- our ceilings were still stained from it. On the plus side, we found free parking, could walk to restaurants, and it was easy to jump on the freeway for the places we needed to get to.
I was happy with my hotel selection for this quick weekend getaway! I would definitely come back. The room was so spacious and offered plenty of lounging and sleep options. I liked the hardwood floors. There were some things in need of touch up/repair in the kitchen area.
A beautiful historic building in downtown Cleveland within walking distance to lots of good eateries. Tall ceilings, spacious rooms and wood floors were nice. Updated bathrooms. Clean linens and comfortable bedding. Free breakfast, but we werent told that at check-in, so didnt use it. (Found out later.)Kind of forced to use valet, but the cost wasnt too bad.Only about 5 minute drive to Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel the staff there was really nice and helpful. I did reservations online and didnt have any problems when we arrived. I ended up leaving a bag and the person over lost and found name Louis was nice enough to have my bag shipped to me I really appreciate it. Next time im in Cleveland I will most definitely be going back to stay there. The room we had was really nice and cozy you can control the temperature in the room too!
Very surprised on how nice, clean and HUGE our room was. Front desk lady was amazingly sweet and helpful. Valet was very great too. I always stay at Hyatt downtown but decided to give this place a try. Glad I did. This is now my go to hotel. Free breakfast is nice as well. I definitely recommend!!!!!!
A fun experience for our 6-year old granddaughter who has only ever stayed in the other cookie-cutter IHG hotels. The wonderful breakfast staff made up for the front desk staff that botched our rewards night reservation. (Still waiting for the $97 to be released back in to my bank account.) We loved playing billiards, but some of the other game machines did not work. We told the staff, who were kind enough to give us our money back, but Out of Order signs were never put on the broken machines. Very clean rooms!! Will still stay here again if ever in Cleveland another time!! Overall it was a great stay!
The hotel room itself was great. Very clean and updated with a retro feel. The lobby appeared more like a courthouse. Check-in felt like driving through a toll booth. I can understand that COVID created the need for certain measures, but all friendliness and guest services appear to have been removed from the entire experience. While the person who checked us in did whisper the hours that breakfast was served, the only information we could find about where this breakfast was located was on a folded piece of paper inside the key card jacket that I only found just before checking out. Apparently there is a whole level of the hotel that has something maybe resembling a lobby that doesnt look like a courthouse or toll booth, and maybe even a restaurant. It was the strangest hotel experience I have had recently. I know COVID calls for new measures, but they seem to have removed any resemblance of friendliness from this location. Adding a folder or even piece of paper with breakfast location and hours, other hotel amenities, and nearby attractions would be a nice touch even if the staff finds it hard to provide a smile and a warm welcome.
The cleanliness of the hallways was poor. The breakfast area cleanliness was very poor. When we arrived to get our food the floor in front of the food area was so sticky that we literally stuck to the floor. The lady that was serving the food had bare handed some of the food before she had served us. The floor outside of the jacuzzi tub tile was loose. The wood floor was buckled. The bathroom faucet had NO PRESSURE. Husband had to fix the jacuzzi tub drain before we could even use it. (He is a plumber) It would not hold water. When the air conditioner was running you could hear water leaking sound all night over the kitchenette area. The room had a very powerful detergent smell. There was more to this post but I was asked to change it. Overall experience was poor.
For the price we paid ($500) a night when advertised at 250 and I even called to make sure I had enough. This was for jacuzzi room so I expected atleast a city view for the price. But we get the opposite view of the back of building. The lobby is nicer than the rooms itself as the building is old. The only updates I see in rooms are paint and pulled the carpets. Meaning it didnt give me a luxury feel. Ive paid less at other hotels for better rooms (without jacuzzi). I wouldnt return to this exact hotel next time I visit Cleveland. Nice location tho but other hotels in area as well.
We spent one night at this hotel, and really loved the location (right downtown - close to everything), and thought the price was great for the amenities. We stayed in a suite, which worked worked well for us since we had our two teenagers with us. The couch in the sitting area pulls out into a double bed, and that gave us plenty of space for all of us. The room was spotlessly clean, with beautiful wood floors and high ceilings. The hotel was a bank building and the entryway and rooms are unique. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. I think this is a great hotel for the price!
Positive: The young man working with the valet parking was very personable. He did a nice job Negative: This hotel is in dire need of renovation. The rooms are large in size but very plan, no frills, no carpet, worn out. The floor in the mezzanine area was terribly sticky and gross. Valet parking is $29 a night and you really have no other option.
The worst hotel experience I have had in decades. It is very surprising because it was a whole lot of money and there are pretty high ratings on t.a. It makes no sense. Hotel obviously taking advantage of people who need to be downtown for the attractions. The crowd in the lobby and in front of the hotel could not be seedier. The street below is noisy. The check-in is weird - you have to go down a long corridor. The elevators - near impossible to figure out how to put card in despite following the directions on the elevator (which is tiny and dirty) wall. Card has same problems as a room key. The HVAC in the room is incredibly (!) loud and their moving us to another room solved nothing. (Probably the most important problem because sleep is obviously the key. What about the Holiday Inn Express commercials?) My 12-year-old son wanted to change hotels because the place is in general gross and weird. It is a very old building; obviously offices before. Yet zero charm. In addition, one cannot adjust the a/c in the room at all, there is no water left/provided in the room, and the valet sometimes takes 20 minutes. Dont ever stay at this hotel. (I never leave reviews but this place compelled it.)
At first impression the lobby was like walking back in time to the 1930s... but in a good way. The room was spacious, with a large comfortable bed and recliner. Coffee maker and fridge was appreciated. Microwave would have been also. Not sure of the going rate for nearby parking, but the valet parking offered seemed a mite pricey at $27/night. The breakfast setup was very good, with the lady ready and willing to make whatever you wanted from what was available. Will definitely be back.
So Im mixed emotionally about this place it was nice but I think they need more staff. Tammy who checked us in was fantastic as was everyone else. The price wasnt bad and location was incredible. Pillow was dirty just one and the shower curtain. Which is why I think they need more staff. It was stained both of them like both were cleaned..Just needed to be tossed out due to the stains. Moving on no one told us where to find breakfast. So make sure upon check in you ask questions. Its on floor 2 as is a small arcade and a pool table. Down the steps is where you can get breakfast. Which was really good. The building is very..old and needs some updates. Best part though is the rooms have hardwood floors and you feel like your at home..Which was nice. Overall its not a bad hotel and location is amazing. I think with more staff this place would for sure get a five from me. Lastly the beds were comfortable we brought our own sheets. Always do just in case but didnt need to change them. A big thank you to the staff and trust I can only imagine running a hotel that big. Food, bed , location and people simply amazing. 🖤
Stayed here a little while back and am just now getting around to posting this. Our stay here was fantastic! Had a top floor room with a view of downtown Cleveland and it was breathtaking. The room was very big and spacious and the jacuzzi tub was super clean and a very nice touch. The manager, Alyssa, was wonderful and incredibly helpful and made our stay there even better. Will definitely be back!
Positive: We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming desk clerk who was not only thorough about the hotel amities but also about the surrounding city area. The breakfast was very good and the staff in that area were also friendly, welcoming and attentive. Negative: NO!
Positive: Mostly its proximity to Hilarities Comedy Club. The keycard was a little confusing for the elevator but that was more me than the hotel. Negative: No restaurant or bar on premises but there is a plethora of those surrounding the place. I also might have planned differently if I knew that there was no free parking, but the Valet Service was pretty good.
We went for our anniversary to get out of the house and Holiday inn was absolutely wonderful! It was nice to just relax. We both work 6 days a week and got 3 teenagers at home so this was much needed! The staff was amazing as well with great customer service! The room was beautiful and perfect view of Tower city. It was so worth it!
My husband and I stayed for a little weekend getaway. We booked this hotel specifically for the large bathtub because soaking is my favorite thing. This is the only hotel in the area with large tubs it seems. But really the whole stay was great. Comfortable bedding, temperature control in the room, very clean. They had breakfast but we didn’t eat there as we had other plans. It was a great stay and we will definitely be staying there for future visits to Cleveland.
I stay here almost every time Im in Cleveland. I love it here! The only things I wish were different are the facts that there is no pool or hot tub and the breakfast choices are limited. Its all very good food but not a lot of choices as far as entrees go. I love the feel of this hotel and the the fact that no one bothers you about minor things.
We stayed here after several great experiences at other Holiday Inn Express locations. This was the most unique for sure. The building itself and the lobby are beautiful. The room was average. Nothing remarkable good or bad. Breakfast was good - they are back to self-serve full breakfast as it was pre-pandemic.The only bad experiences we had were trying to find parking (we ended up using valet feeling that was the only option) and the security guard that was working when we arrived Monday evening. He must have been bored because he walked up to the check-in line and yelled at everyone to move away from the counter so there could be some privacy at check in. No one was close to the counter and no one had complained about privacy issues as he was claiming.Ultimately, I would go here again if I was staying for a short trip and needed a place to sleep, but if this is your vacation and the hotel experience means something to you, go elsewhere.
Staff was warm and friendly from the moment of arrival until our departure. Check-in was quick and efficient, the room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast area was well maintained with many options. Even the valet experience was efficient and quick. Thank you, Cleveland, Holiday Inn Express - we will return soon!
I have stayed at this location multiple times and always enjoy my stay. The staff are very friendly and the property is unique and comfortable. I am actually planning to visit again later this year. My only complaint is the valet parking situation. I wish the hotel would consider going back to a self park option as it is far more convenient than waiting for the valet.
Location was our main reason for staying! We had tickets to the concert at the Quicken. Hotel was expensive, but location was perfect! Valet took an hour to get our car, only because the were extremely busy (right around check out time), would have liked a heads up about it. They were very apologetic for our wait and were clearly working their butt off.
This hotel is at a great location. it was right downtown near all the action, bars, and restaurants. We got a suite and it was perfect for the amount of people staying with us. the ac in the room did not work and was never fixed. also didnt have breakfast available on sunday morning.
The hotel failed to meet my expectations in one regard. I thought the suite I ordered would afford at least a little privacy to our assistant. Had I known there were no doors between the bedroom and the sitting room kitchen area’ I would have insisted on 2 rooms. We all ended up sleeping in our clothes.
Positive: The rooms and architecture of the building and the inside of the building was just gorgeous for the money I paid Negative: There was nothing I can complain about on this hotel it was beautiful it was clean the staff was friendly the breakfast bar was amazing I absolutely 100% will stay there again I love it
We were here for a staycation after our Spirit flights got cancelled. We booked the King Jacuzzi room and it did not disappoint. Only issue was the Jacuzzi tub kept draining due to a plug that didnt seal, but hopefully they will fix that. I highly recommend for a couple looking for a nice relaxing stay in the downtown area.
We were in Cleveland to attend a baseball game, and the hotels location is very convenient to Progressive Field. It was clean and comfortable. The only minor complaint might be that there seemed to be some confusion at check in. There was a rather length wait, but they were busy.
The Garden tub room was beautiful and extremely clean and the heater was amazing. Who wants to get out of a Jacuzzi to a freezing room? Not I. And I didnt have to. It was quiet and easy to navigate and nice staff. One of the few hotels I have stayed at that offers a decent late check out. 2 hours later. Much appreciated.
Positive: The hotel is in a really great location. That is why we booked it. Negative: The staff was rude. They openly made fun of my daughter for not understanding how their keycard elevator worked. It took 5 tries for security to get it to work. The Valet did approx 10k in damage to my friends pickup.
Was really out dated when walking in feels Dungeness only one staff person at desk. So besides being outdated and being over priced. Rooms bathroom walls was grouse. But location and breakfast was decent. $28 a night to park was a liile too much but we made the most of it two stars!
My wife and I found staying at the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Cleveland to be a good experience. The parking is all done by valet which relieves one of the worry of finding a space and the safety of the car. Walking to many venues is possible because of its location. The staff was most helpful in directions and suggestions. Perfect for staying in Clevelands hub.
I’m an IHG member and always opt to stay at a HI Express when I can. This one has always been a favorite of ours too but I won’t be back. Front desk staff was great but we got a suite that wasn’t connected to any other room, on a Friday night, to celebrate with our friends and security came to our room at 1am because our tv was too loud?? Then a chair that leans back literally gave out and the person in it fell and they came back about the noise but didn’t care to see if the guest was ok?!? Breakfast has always been great too. Until now. My check in email said that it was still the buffet style full breakfast, even with the ridiculous covid protocols in place, but there were hardly any options for breakfast and no pancakes which are my favorite breakfast item that they offer! One of the reasons I choose to stay with this hotel is the breakfast option. So disappointed...Valet took forever to bring our vehicle back in the morning even though we were the only ones getting our car at the time. Left us standing outside in 30 degree weather and when he brought it, instead of parking it in front of where we were standing, which was in front of the valet stand, he pulled up 3 parking spots away and didn’t even offer to move it back or assist with the bags.Overall I’m just disappointed in my whole experience. I’m not planning to be back to downtown Cleveland any time soon but when I am I won’t be back to this location.
Positive: Location. Close to everything. A few minutes walk to Progressive Field and many restaurants. Plenty of parking nearby vs the hotel valet. Room is large and clean. Comfortable bed and enough towels for at least 3. Negative: Breakfast was meh. For free though you cant really complain.
Staff unhelpful. Security guard in lobby looked like he was on swat and very rude - he’s the first person you encounter. Won’t direct you to the front desk and major attitude ( another review said the same). Hotel dark and need of renovation. Elevator had water on floor polling. Permanent marker written on elevator to show directions to insert key card - classy! Huge room for 3 adults with one king bed and a chair.
The stay was good the front desk was very polite . The morning breakfast crew very helpful and very polite .they just need to have the cleaning staff check on guests at least one day out of the 3 days Or any days guests are staying if they run out of anything or need anything . Ever since we checked in the cleaning staff never checked with us once till the end of our stay .also outside there doors I warn tourists theres allot of people asking and trying to get money from you.
We were in Cleveland because my mom was patient at Cleveland Clinic. All the hotels close to the clinic were booked. This was our only option. Valet parking line was very long and there was no on street parking. I was by myself and had to use parking garage. It was late by the time I was able to leave the hospital and get to the hotel. I was very scared in the parking garage. I had to walk a few blocks to get to hotel, which was fine. The rooms are large and very clean. There was only one girl at main desk. And there was a problem with the elevator. A line up of people to check in and a line up of people needing to use elevator. Luckily everyone was patient and the girl was very accommodating.
This was a great stay. The room was clean and the staff was attentive and friendly. We felt safe and comfortable in our room during COVID restrictions. The front desk staff was helpful (Curtis) and the breakfast staff (Mary and Stephen) were great handing the breakfast line. Breakfast was packed and served in a box, but you could get whatever you wanted and I was surprised there were so many choices. It was great. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Made reservation for Holiday Inn for 5 days for a real estate conference I was attending. Reservation fee was charged to my credit card. Upon arrival to hotel I was told by employee at front desk General Manager just told me your reservation was canceled. This was after I was charged $1067 on my CC and was verbally told via phone call my reservation was good and after driving 4 hours to Cleveland!! The GM did not have the common courtesy to come out to explain to me the issue, apologies or come up with a solution. I had to drive around and eventually found a hotel 25 minutes from where the convention I was attending. I also had to wait a few business days for my original reservation fee to be returned while having to pay $895 for another reservation at another hotel 10 miles away. I have never seen this bad of service.
I had a blast i stayed in the king whirlpool room everything was clean and nice. The bed was very comfortable but we didnt get any rest if you know what I mean lol. I also love how high the ceiling is and the really long drapes. Valet was also perfect especially when its hard to find a parking spot downtown. So thank god for valet.
The hotel staff was very prompt and friendly. The staff gave great instructions on how to use the key card on the elevator, and they were very efficient in setting expectations for the valet services. Our room had tall vaulted ceilings with a very spacious open layout. The garden hot tub was huge, we were both able to sit in the tub and completely relax without feeling bunched up. The bedding was clean, crisp, and unimaginably comfortable, I was very shocked as to how much i enjoyed my rest during my stay. My only drawback is that prior to Covid this hotel chain had a full range continental breakfast that I had some expectation of partially getting when we returned. My expectations were not met at all. They went from fresh pancakes, sausage, and eggs to dry cereal and distasteful pastry items. Other than that, my stay was great!
I am not one to do this!!! But... Everything was great except for the “complimentary breakfast” it was powder eggs sausage links and hardly anything else! We paid 233$ For 12 hours!!! 165$ Plus tax for the room and 27$ for Valet parking only! Which was fine I guess... the staff was real friendly but I was expecting a decent breakfast considering the amount we paid for our room... no bagels no toast no juice. I could have went to McDonald’s and ate that type of food. But the room was nice the view was nice the lights and the city lit up was very beautiful!!!!
For what we paid for one night just was not worth the experience... first off let me say that the staff we actually dealt with were great... the valet guys were awesome and the front desk people were nice and friendly. Now my first question is how do you have a bathroom without an exhaust fan in it... seriously?... and second there was a domestic dispute in the room next to ours at 6 am, now that is not on any of the staff or the hotel.for that matter because I understand you cant predict what your guests are going to do. That being said not a single person offered any type of apology or anything at all for the inconvenience
Stayed here overnight on our way home with my kids and the hallway to our room smelled like weed. Once we got into our room the room smelled of cigarette smoke and weed too. The noise level from other guests stomping above us and from outside was very loud, not really IHGs fault since its an old building. I would recommend staying at the other IHG property downtown which is quieter and better air quality.
Valet was quick with our car, the front desk workers were so kind. Security checked on us because our door was ajar and we didnt know. So that was great. But the room! Omg. It was amazing. Super high ceilings, the bed and pillows were so comfortabl, it was my best nights sleep in forever. I loved everything about it. And full size JR Watkins shampoo, conditioner AND body wash!
While visiting for one night a member of my party left behind a personal item accidentally. I followed up with the hotel once returning home and realizing the item was missing. Louis from guest services was able to contact housekeeping and find the item and provide instructions for us to Fed Ex its return. Sincerely appreciate the effort by all staff on this matter. Good customer service is such a rare thing these days.
Positive: Great location and better service. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful and accommodating. The same goes to the lady in charge of the breakfast. The hotel is just steps of the busy 4th street, the Arcade and the ballpark. No need to drive at all. Negative: Nothing.
The room was clean & spacious. However the chair & ottoman were old & needs to be replaced. The bathroom could use more updating. Though it was painted & had newer counter top. It is an old building overall. Located in center of whats left of activity in downtown Cleveland. Its really sad to see what has happened to downtown Cleveland. Tower Center has no shops left in it. And the hotels attached to it were extremely expensive. This Holiday Inn Express was average. Still pricey for the location.
My husband and I came up for our anniversary for a night and stayed at this hotel. The staff at check in and check out were very friendly. (This was the only contact we had with them). Our room was huge and pretty clean. We did find a few random hairs that grossed us out and our room had a strange smell to it, but overall for being a very old building everything in it was nice. Our room was right on the street side so it was pretty loud, but not the hotels fault. The only thing I hated was the the curtains don’t go all the way to the wall on the side of the window so I kept waking up to very bright sunshine. We loves the full size shampoo, conditioner and body washes in the shower. And it’s nice and close to everything downtown. The only thing that would be nice is if you got a discount on parking in the lot across from the hotel, it’s normally $10 (not awful) but since there was an Indians game that night they charged $20 and wouldn’t let you leave and come back, so since we were going to dinner we didn’t park there and had to walk far.
We booked a king suite with jacuzzi tub. The sole reason for booking this hotel and room was for that reason. After checking in we got up to our room and found two maintenance men with our lock to our door completely off. They told us we couldn’t have that room because they would not be done fixing it any time soon. We went back downstairs and the receptionist said well that was supposed to be done before check in. Proceeded to tell us there was no other room available like it and we would have to downgrade to a double queen room or get a refund and find another hotel. We did not have time to try and find additional lodging. We were very let down with the room down grade since it was the only reason we booked that hotel. It ruined our night really.
Our stay was going well until our air conditioning stopped working. Had maintenance check it out on 3 occasions with no success. Our room stayed hot the entire time with no recommendations from staff or resolution, which left my family of 4 hot for 2 nights in a row with no resolution. Will not recommend nor stay with them in the future. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel in the downtown area. I will also be calling corporate as well.
Room was ok. Breakfast was mediocre. Jacuzzi was not as i thought it would be. Though it was clean, the tub was ridden with stains. The window sills had a build up of dust that i was not fond of. Other than than that the stay was ok. I was told by the lady at the front desk that i would receive a 40% discount which ended up being a lie.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Accused of smoking in the room because of a stain already washed into to sheet. Basically had $500 stole me. Staff is rude and inconsistent. Inconsistent with with why they charge you (told 3 different reason each time a new different one)and wont release proof to corporate or you without lawyer. So your word again theirs. Will never be back or recommend. This hotel is a bad look for outsiders to Cleveland and bad look to the holiday in as a company.
The hotel is great and the personal were helpful and courteous throughout my stay. I love this building and staying downtown is great.Andres was the primary valet during my stay. This young man was very professional and after a couple of days, he determined my schedule and had my car waiting each morning. Thanks A!A great experience.
During my stay, every single person who worked here was pleasant and really friendly. The room itself was nice, and bed comfy. The shower edge wasn’t tall enough and some water came out, however water pressure and temperature was amazing.I left a couple items in my room, I spoke with Tammy on the phone, who was incredibly helpful and sweet. She located my items, and is having security ship them back to me. Tammy rocks! The hotel itself was a great stay, but the valet company they use had difficulty handling a lot of people checking out at once. I was told my car would be the next one by the one employee they had working, then he proceeded to retrieve 2 other individual’s cars. When he finally got my car, he parked it in the rain rather than under the canopy.
Entire staff lacked professionalism and customer service skills. From my arrival to my departure 99% of my interactions with the staff at this location was horrible. Nobody ever greeted me from the time I arrived to the time I departed. There were random people just hanging outside of the front of the and in the lobby. I had to look for a valet attendant. Anyone of the random people hanging around could easily trick someone into giving them their car keys and steal a car. The people that I assumed were staff members from inside the building all had their head down and seemed bothered that they were there. The next day I was harassed by housekeeping about my checkout time. After banging on my door I explained that I would be leaving out in twenty minutes. She asked me if I had called the front desk which I did the night before. The housekeeper then radioed the front desk on her walki talkie asking if I had called right in front of my door. She then yelled that nobody had heard from me. Five minutes later I received a call from the front desk and five minutes after that a security guard was knocking at my door. I walked out of the room to 4 or 5 people staring at me. I felt like I was a criminal and was going to be attacked by the staff. Check out time was 11am. I asked for a 12 noon check out. This situation happened between 11:45am and 12 noon. I’m a Spire elite level club member and thought I had the option for late check outs until 2pm. This ordeal ruined my weekend and really shook my belief and loyalty to the IHG brand.
If your able to utilize the valet it is worth the extra money, just make sure you vehicle falls into the size parameters. The parking around the hotel will come with a walk and weather permitting could be unsatisfying. As you enter the hotel lobby you are taken back by the historic features and amazing size. Front desk greets you with warm welcomes and gets you moving on your way very quickly. The view from our room was nice however if you were on floor 10 or higher I am sure it would be even better as you would be able to see over the building adjacent from you. The cleanliness of our room was perfect, comfortable beds and lounge area along with all the amenities. We were in town to see a show and to walk less than 5 minutes to any resturaunt or local bar was perfect. No need to even catch a ride. Overall this was a great nights stay!! We will be back for sure.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed staying here in downtown Cleveland. The architecture of the building blew us away. It is simply gorgeous inside. Our rooms were very nice and the high ceilings made them feel so spacious. Bathrooms were very clean and stocked with everything we needed. Front desk and valet staff were very friendly and helpful. We were not aware of the lack of parking space/valet prices. It is in the very fine print on the booking site we used but I feel we should have been made more aware. Even though that one snuck up on us we did use the valet for the days we were there, and it was very much worth it. We did not have the jacuzzi tub that we booked, and there was a dysfunctional/broken light in our room which was inconvenient but not really a big deal. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
First, the parking cost is OUTRAGEOUS. $30 for forced valet parking? Give me a break. Worse than that, the main reason we booked this hotel was because of the jacuzzi tub. My partner and I got engaged this weekend and that was our gift to ourselves. But the jacuzzi tub had only ONE jet working out of 6, the stopper didnt work to plug the water (it kept draining) and the shower head drips cold water on you the whole time youre in there. We talked to the desk and the woman said shed check with the manager about getting us a discount and that shed call us in half an hour. We never heard anything back.Needless to say, after ruining our engagement weekend, we wont be staying at this hotel again. Frustrating.
I ended up spending an additional $100 plus dollars than what i agreed to online. In the process the employees were rude beyond belief. From not explaining the $50 damages fee or the elevators needed a card. To telling I can’t have a printed out copy of my receipt. Just anything you ask them they huffing and puffing. It’s like you’re bothering them. Also The Jacuzzi room it’s not worth it it’s basically a bathtub with jets. I will say the hotel was clean security and the valet crew was nice. Over all I wouldn’t recommend I do believe you could find something better for what we actually ended up spending.
The air conditioner did not work at all, and the room became stifling overnight. The alarm clock wasn’t even set to the correct time. The front desk staff couldn’t be bothered to ask how our stay was at checkout. And the eggs at breakfast tasted fishy/sulphuric. Easily the worst IHG stay we’ve ever had.
The staff was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. An employee in the breakfast area named Mary was a standout displaying courtesy and professionalism even when faced with adversity. She made the experience pleasant and we will certainly come back to this property.
Our stay was good. We had the whirlpool suite which is hard to find at hotels. The price was much less than the others I did find but the price didnt reflect any issues with the location/room. I liked to feel of the hotel, I thought the room was great. We didnt have the best view, but we didnt really care. During the Coronavirus issues, downtown was a ghost town. We were able to find food very close by- Shake Shack is AWESOME!. We were just glad the hotel was still open- so thanks for that! Overall it was a good stay. We enjoyed it for what we wanted and will return once everything is open again and back to normal.

2022-04-26Front staff was hit or miss. we had a older black lady super sweet, younger kid amazing, older black gentleman (race not an issue just for reference).... example i ordered a pizza and forgot to ask for plates, we asked at the front desk and apparently there were none in the hotel. it was weird that the floor was hard wood and not carpeted. it was super slippery and everything echoed. the traffic also echoed inside the room, the curtains were outdated but that is not here nor there. the beds were super comfortable (one was broken. it seemed to pop and crack whenever she moved,) but mine was fine. no bible which was disappointing, but the room was clean and comfortable otherwise. breakfast had a great selection, french toast, pancakes, eggs and bacon. everything was full and the breakfast staff was super nice and cleaned the tables as soon as you got up. the valet staff (most of them) were attentive. the location was good, right on the strip however not a whole lot of choices for food. most were serving the same things, pizza or a bar so not too child friendly . also the room had a fridge but no microwave.

2022-06-23A wonderful old style hotel. Very pretty and very large rooms, just beautiful. The staff was always friendly and attentive. I would particularly like to highlight the lady at the front desk. Unfortunately I didnt catch her name, but it was the lady who was at the reception on 6/20 and 6/21 in the morning and at noon. A role model for everyone who works in tourism!! Smiling, warm friendly, a very pleasant personality! This is how you would like to be welcomed and said goodbye in a hotel! The location of the hotel is excellent. We will definitely visit this hotel again.

2022-04-10I had reserved a room online a couple of weeks before staying at a price of $179 for a standard 2 queen bed room. My card was never charged as I selected the option to pay at check-in. Our stay was eh. I love the old vibes of the building, however the room was needing some severe tlc. Didn’t expect a ton, but for $179 a night the room quality was definitely not up to par. After checking out this morning and heading home I noticed my bank account had been charge THREE separate times by The Holiday Inn. Once for $229 (which was never a quote I booked on nor was it ever brought to my attention in any form for any reason), second time for the $50 incidentals (fine, I knew they was a thing), and a third/final time for $179 that I actually agreed to for the room fees. I was immediately not happy about the $229 I got charged for out of nowhere that should not have been put onto my card! I called and was transferred to 3 different people and placed on hold for almost 20 minutes for someone to poorly explain that my card was first charged a reservation rate (um no it wasn’t, the first fee that came out from holiday inn was the $229… which was way more than agreed upon) and that that amount was what the “rate jumped to when we checked in” WHAT? Then the manager said it and the incidental fee would be credited back to my account in 5-7 business days. That’s a long time to be missing $280… especially when you didn’t even know you’d be charged for the majority of that amount. Don’t think we will be staying here ever again.

2021-11-15This is Holiday Inn is located in a beautiful building that’s over 100 years old. Some areas are a bit worn, but it adds to the character of the building. The suite was like a fancy apartment with super high ceilings. It felt old fashioned, but it has also been updated recently. It was lovely. Five of us stayed together and we had plenty of space for three kids to spread out and do their homework while us adults walked across the street for a carryout dinner. We enjoyed the gym and our free breakfast. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

2022-03-29PROS: The hotel is in a great location downtown close to many great restaurants and attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms had nice high ceiling and tall windows - nice views from our 15th Floor room. The bathroom and shower were nice and clean. Nice variety of tasty and healthy breakfast options.CONS: I found the temperature of the room difficult to control, especially at night. The finishes and furniture showed some signs of wear and tear, especially in the elevators. I believe our room had bedbugs as I woke up with multiple bites.

2022-02-28We stayed here on a Sunday evening in order to attend a concert at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. We had the best experience...from check in (the girls were so interactive and friendly with our entire party), to the room (the small historic touches that you can still recognize, especially the original hardwood floors) to the full, hot breakfast, to the valet who retrieved our vehicle upon check-out. The room we stayed in, 508, was very well sound proofed also! We know for a fact that our fellow hotel guests were mostly preteen and teenage girls staying there with parents and not once did we hear any other guests in surrounding rooms! We were an 8 minute walk to the venue (which my 10 year old grand daughter enjoyed immensely). I will definitely stay again! Great experience at an affordable price. I just wish I would have gotten some pictures of the inside of the room. It was beautiful.

2022-05-03My experience at the Holiday Inn Express was fantastic... the only exception was the gentleman checking us in that evening at approx 11pm..he was very impersonal and paid little attention too our questions...had too ask the same question 2 or 3 times... wheres the elevator bank? 2. How too use the key too operate the elevator? Cash policy on checking out? Luckily a young female parking attendant was able too step up and answer & address our pending questions... The only response the checkin gentleman had was im sorry, im new and you have too see the day manager in the morning.. Thursday morning we went too check in desk and what a knowledgeable, professional and charming staff awaited, Kudos!! All questions were answered and policy and instructions were given in a professional manner...

2022-03-28Positive: The old architecture was a plus. Security was good. The convenience store was a plus!!! Everyone was very helpful, professional and polite. Answered all questions. Ramona at the front desk was so very understanding and helpful. Negative: I hated the scrambled eggs and the sausages were nasty. The microwave was not located in the breakfast room..it was next to the pool table upstairs! Weird. Mary made breakfast more enjoyable with her hotel tips and service.

2022-05-28The hotel itself is nice and spacious. It’s in a historic building which made our stay have so much more character. However myself and many guests that I spoke with had the same problem: the room keys deactivating. This happened to my mother and I twice (as it did for other guests we spoke to I’m the elevator). And our keys were not near our phones. Their concierge phone service was terrible. No one would pick up so we were forced to climb down 13 flights of stairs. Won’t be staying here again.

2022-04-07Positive: Location and access to downtown was wonderful. Breakfast was really nice! Valet parking recommended as overnight parking garages are a little out of the way. The valet service uses a parking garage right behind the hotel. Negative: Front desk rarely answered calls do I had to go down; Study desk lamp was flickering but replaced quickly; the bath door handle was loose and hanging and did not fit hole in door; sheets had little hairs on them and was changed; no fan in the bathroom
