Holiday Inn Cleveland-Strongsville (Arpt), an IHG Hotel in Strongsville

We have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express Hotels in many states and even had our wedding guests stay at one in Troy IL. Normally, we would have very good experiences.Unfortunate for us, this visit was not. We booked the hotel because we were shown that they had a pool and we thought between visiting family, we would have a pool to relax. When we checked in, we found that the pool was closed for maintenance? On Labor Day Weekend? To their credit, they did offer to make us reservations at another hotel, but by the time we got there we had traveled for 10 hours and just wanted to unwind. So we stayed. We also were offered the Recreation Center in Strongsville, IF we were willing to pay a fee to use. WHAT? No thanks. When we got to our room, the thermostat was set at high temperature and the room was very stuffy. We tried to lower the temperature to get the AC to kick on, however, it was not working. We went back to the front desk to let them know as we were leaving to visit our first set of relatives, hoping they would get it fixed while we were out. When we came back several hours later, we were told the thermostat was working. It was a few degrees cooler when we got in the room so we figured all was okay. As the evening turned into overnight, the room became very stuffy and the thermostat was sporadic, at best.Later, when we were getting ready for bed, I went into the bathroom to get a shower to find one bath towel, one hand towel and two washcloths? Usually this would not have been a big deal but I felt like everything was becoming a huge cluster at every turn. My husband went back to the front desk to request more towels and returned to our room. After a very long day, we went to sleep. During the night, there was a big party of people in the hallway coming back from wherever. They sounded very intoxicated. They were very loud and since we were right down the hall from the front desk, we figured they had to have heard them too. We waited a bit and finally after about 20 minutes they quieted down. Again, if this had been the only thing, we would have shrugged it off.The next 2 days were pretty much the same: we left to visit relatives, would come back at night and deal with the noisy guest who I guess never stayed in a hotel before because they acted like they were the only ones in the place.Breakfast prices were extremely high so we went out every morning. The final straw for me is the fact that we PRE PAID for the room AND gave my credit card for incidentals. When I got home on Monday night, I looked at my credit card statement online to see the incidental charge was not removed. I figured I would give it a few more days, as it was a holiday. I waited until the following Saturday and checked again. Not only was there a $113.00 charge but the customer service person at my credit card company said there was a pending $89.00 fee from Holiday Inn. When I tried to call Holiday Inn, the phone rang and rang. No one answered and there was no voicemail to leave a message. I called my credit card company to dispute the charge and had both charges removed. I attempted to call Holiday Inn again and this time someone answered the phone but did not greet me. I heard the person checking in other guests. I stayed on the line for 5 minutes and then gave up.I do not know what is going on with this particular Holiday Inn, but I really hope the management gets their act together. Because if this was the first experience for me, it would have definitely been my last.
***Note*** the 5 stars is for the guy working the front desk, Myles. The hotel itself is rundown and poorly managed (2 stars). However, Myles was amazing: my wife and 3 kids were flying home to Detroit and our flight was cancelled. The only thing they could do is get us to Cleveland. Decided to take it. Arrived around midnight on a Saturday and every single hotel in the area was sold out. I pleaded with Myles out of exhaustion on what he could do, if anything. He personally went to some rooms that were technically not occupied but had not been cleaned yet so they couldn’t rent them. He cleaned the room himself, provided all clean bedding, extra pillows, really went above and beyond. They still charged me over $300 for about 7 hours in the room, but hey, can’t argue with supply and demand I guess. This hotel is 2 stars at best. (There wasn’t even a shower curtain) and it definitely felt painful paying $350 for the room, but without Myles help we would literally be spending the night on the airport floor with 3 kids. Myles needs a raise!!
Airport Shuttle is only at their convenience. Not enough staff. Asked for towels 3 times. Waited at desk for 30 minutes. Told they would be delivered but never showed up. Next morning and still no towels. Hotel is also out of soap. Were supposed to keep calling to check on it. Tiniest sink counters you ever saw. Not great for hair and makeup for competition. Not many plugs. Even lamp on nightstand with clock cant seem to be plugged in. Beds were comfortable and room is clean. Thank goodness! Thats why I gave 2 stars because thats the most important to me and it will make our stay at least ok. SO glad I booked on priceline. What IHG charges (which was double when I booked) is NOT worth it!
I am a best western diamond elite member. Im always staying at the western. This is by far the worst best western Ive stayed at. The elevators barely close (dangerous)The suite which I paid to upgrade to, didnt have towels in the room, the toilet had skid marks in it upon my arrival (yuck) the ceiling has unfixed water damage (sky is falling) and no bathroom fan/window. The bed is comfortable though, and the maintenance guy was super helpful.. Be sure if you stay here to take advantage of the free continental breakfast.... Just kidding, its $13If you stay in Strongsville you may as well stay at the motel 6 imo.Im very disappointed in the low standards here!!

Room was not what I expected from a Holiday Inn! You spend the extra money to have a Holiday Inn experience (clean, classy, etc). Instead, this establishment was a disappointment. The pictures show it all. Furniture and curtains were so stained, didnt want to touch them. Bathroom... wall in shower cracked, light looked like it was going to fall off the wall, no bathroom fan yet vent looked moldy and room smelled musty. We were so dog tired from traveling 10 hours that all we wanted to do was sleep, so we sleep, got up early and left, disappointed.
This was a very nice hotel at a great price. All of the front desk associates we met with, as well as the support staff, were extremely kind, courteous and went out of their way to make our shirt stay completely pleasant. It was very much a team atmosphere. Ray, head of maintenance, was as helpful and welcoming as any manager could be, and its obvious he takes great pride in his career.Sadly, the amenities were closed due to the restrictions in place, so no dining or ability to enjoy the very nice indoor pool and sauna. Not their fault.
Ty at the front desk was amazing!! After not knowing we needed to order breakfast the night before, he talked to the kitchen, and made it happen. He was super courteous and phenomenal at his job. Before we walked up there was a lady who was actually screaming at him for things outside of his control. He helped her, instantly shook her off, and then helped us. We will stay again because of him!
Listen, our room was clean, it was right off the highway of our roadtrip, and we felt safe. Plus, a mall and tons of restaurants within a 10 minute drive. Is it a top tier hotel? Of course not, but it served our purpose very well and Id totally recommend it to others passing through!
Well check in was relatively easy the room was ok the annoying thing was the a/c was nosiest at night which didn’t help me while trying to sleep, everything was closed so no pool which would have been nice to use.Breakfast was grab and go they have a nerve to charge you for a poor breakfast could have got better at McDonald’s drive through.Bed was at least comfortable the bathroom well old and outdated.
My fiancé and I stayed here 3 weeks ago and was disappointed with several things. The indoor pool was closed even though I called several days prior to ask if it would reopen. I was told yes. There was no fresh coffee offered in the lobby. I understood the cold breakfast was not offered due to Covid I’m assuming. There was coffee in our room but was hoping to talk and drink coffee our friends who were also guests. Upon inspecting our room, there was only one set of towels. After requesting, however, the staff brought us more towels. The tv remote was broken. I found inadequate lighting in the room after turning on every light. There also seemed to be a shortage of electrical outlets for us to use.On a more positive note, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was nice.
Good clean room at a decent rate but the franchise policy has closed the restaurant and swimming pool. So cant really justify a 4 or 5 star. The staff was the one bright spot. Very cheerful and good attitudes. I will be back in November and I hope there is food and a pool open.
We got a terrific deal on a room (Priceline) and even though it cost less than most hotels weve stayed in recently, it was a lot nicer. The lobby and hallway decor was a definite step up from that of other low cost hotels.Pros:CleanMarble topped bedside tablesCharging plugs next to bedThermostat on wallNicely decorated bathroomSoft fitted sheetsDown duvet bedspreadMini fridgeRemote in plastic remote sleeveHair dryerIron and boardNon-smoking room had no smoke or musty odorCon:No microwaveOne of the room keys didnt workNo breakfastI would totally stay here again.
A group of friends and I, 8 altogether, had planned a summer trip after school a few months in advance and were super excited to be staying here so we could explore Cuyahoga for a couple of days before heading to Chicago. Very disappointed to find out that upon our arrival, after 10pm, they only had one room ready, with only one bed, instead of the two rooms we had paid for with two beds each. They put all 8 of us in one room with one bed and told us to wait for the other room because it still wasnt ready, when our check in time had been available 3-4 hours prior. They ended up not fulfilling our rooms and saying they couldnt do anything about it. Not happy at all, Ive been to Holiday Inn Expresses that were better than this one. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the area. Many other places to go rather than here.
The hotel staff was very accommodating. The night staff and the morning staff have different ideas about the free breakfast advertised on the website. The night staff said it wasnt free, but we did get our free breakfast as advertised. Im not sure why but our smoke detectors were covered by garbage bags. Could be a covid thing?
4 stars because POOL IS CLOSED, Online says its a feature here IT IS NOT!!Bathroom Fans are wired to not work, I understand its so people dont smoke but I take HOT showers and it gets more than foggy😅If you want to change inputs youll have to make sure you have a TV remote that says SOURCE on it, if you have a bland White one youll have to call the front desk (or go down there) and tell them you need a full TV remote and the Maintenance Guy will come bring you up one that has the proper buttons. If you have a Dog prepare to pay a REFUNDABLE 100$ Pet Deposit feeTheres side entrances once you have your key, ask the front desk which one would be easiest to use for your room specificallyThe hallways are quiet, I mean QUIET, (I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and I hear them when Im down the hall going to the elevator) nobody has complained (yet) but just be wary of thatThe whole Food thing is not worth it here for example 7$ for a grilled cheese (not broke but Im not paying 7$ for a grilled cheese 😑) They have other options but nothing really a kid can eat so be mindful of that oneTheres really nothing super close (fast food wise) I mean total time to a McDonalds there and back was 27 minutes so I mean about same time as if you got it deliveredRoom was clean! House Keepers were Friendly, if you need Sheets, Towels, or blankets call down to front desk and then have the dirty ones ready (theyll be wanting them before they leave 🤣🤣)Overall had no problems with my stay here
Darn it! I only usually review when I have good things to say. Lady at front desk very nice. The room? Faucethandle on tub falling off. Didnt want to take a shower because of it. Cant control room temperature. Battery dead. Just a bummer. Didnt call anyone because I needed to sleep and didnt expect any results anyway.
Front desk staff helpful and friendly. Small beds for a queen but comfy. No free breakfast and breakfast grab n go was very expensive. Also most disappointed that they advertise having a pool but dont tell you its still closed due to covid. 😥 means alot when choosing a place when you have 3 young children.
Husband and I stayed for a one night anniversary get away on Halloween. The pillows were soft, and the bed was comfy. Room was clean, no bugs. The room had some structural damage but for what we paid on Priceline it wasnt a deal breaker. No breakfast or food available due to the pandemic, but being local this was a non issue for us.The only complaint we really had was the $100 deposit we didnt know existed until we were checking in. This should be communicated when booking. Also, there was no way to fill up the bathtub. Shower worked fine and the water was hot.All in all a decent place to spend a night or two.
Absolutely horrible will never stay there again!! While the support staff was friendly the rooms were nasty. Even though our room was reserved a day in advance we walked into a room that was filthy. One of the beds beds and bathroom were still in disarray from the previous customers and reeked of cigarette smoke. They were more than happy to give us a clean room. We were awoken 3 hours later to the smoke detector blaring for no reason. To top it off they informed us they had no clean towels for our room .
So unbelievably unorganized. We booked a block for our wedding as well as conjoined rooms for the bridesmaids to get ready in and a bridal suite. LONG story short, we did not get conjoined rooms, many of our guests didn’t have correct accommodations for their rooms and the bride and groom almost didn’t have a place to stay on their wedding night due to how unorganized it was. On top of that the customer service for people at the front desk were rude and confused the whole weekend. I would never recommend staying here especially for a wedding.
This facility is too large for the staff they have working. Only one person working the front desk for a 6 floor hotel. Also, our room, we reserved weeks in advance, was not ready, even though we checked in after 3pm check in. We ended up with 2 double beds instead of queen. Room was decently clean but smelled like mildew. We paid a lot of money to stay one night for sub par accommodations.
Had to leave and demand a refund. Felt unsafe due to patron that was high and following my wife and I around the Hotel. Management refused to call the police or do anything about it. This is not only a hotel with poor service. It is unsafe for you and your family to stay here.Stay away
Place is absolutely disgusting, would not give me a refund and the stay was horrible the entire time, guy at front desk literally told me it might be period blood on my floor while Im staying in a room with my 2 month old, absolutely disturbing. They have standards of cleaning and I moved 3 room rooms and not a single one was clean. Management is a joke, they lied to corporate about giving me free breakfast and how they made sure everything was okay for my stay, absolutely disgusting hotel, not to mention the mold, dirt everywhere, water damage all over the ceiling, ac and heat didnt even work. Recommend never staying here if your even looking for a decent stay
The worst customer service I have experienced. We arrived around 10:30 pm, and the front desk told us our room isnt ready. When we expressed that were tired and booked the room in the morning he said that how it is, maybe I can the housekeeping to clean a room for you. We said this will take a while and this is not covid safe. He replied you can go ahead and help clean the room, and about Covid, thats right, you will get a bunch of that. We ended up going to a different hotel and tried to complain to a manager the following 3 days with no way to get ahold of him.
Nice and clean place to sleep. Comfortable beds. The single bed rooms only come with one coffee and the area we stayed on the fourth floor smelt like people had been smoking cigars in the room recently. We spent $50 a night and all things considered it was perfectly acceptable at that price.
Start with reservation 50/50 chance at room any special request forget it, Ice cold showers 2 out 4 showers, Kanga and front desk night crew just rudest inconsiderate just why? Bret accommodating but true award goes to housekeeping and Front desk Heather kind smiling warm welcome no fuss clean comfortable rooms they truly kind sunshine warm crew
Pool was closed and has been for over a year because of an death due to the poor conditions of the pool, google it. But is still advertised as having one to use. Feces in the hall of the 4th floor. Our ac in our room never turned off, made the beds moist and disgusting. Carpet was filthy, bathroom lights barely worked. Only 1 elevator worked and it was dirty and most of the buttons were broken.
I was at first excited because I have stayed here many times before and had pleasant experiences HOWEVER it’s amazing how things have changed! I understand that our world has changed but explain how you charge $100 for incidentals when you OFFER NOTHING!!! The bar/ restaurant is closed there is no room service I couldn’t even get more tissue. I had 2 rooms and one of them the toilet flooded the bathroom. So what am I possibly covering this is completely ridiculous and let’s not start with the elevators not working well only one works and only a me ice maker and one microwave for the entire hotel!
Staff is unprofessional and allowed to yell violently at guests and at their own supervisor’s. Horrifying experience. I highly recommend staying elsewhere. There is too much drama at this hotel. Worse hotel I have ever encountered in my 27 years of traveling.I highly do not recommend this hotel. It’s not very clean either.
Fair warning: they claim there is an airport shuttle but it doesnt start until 8:00. I called ahead and was promised that they would be able to accommodate me getting to the airport at 530 but that was a lie, so I had to call an Uber. Just avoid this hotel and book one of the the ones closer to the airport if thats what you need.
Booked room for 2 nights 5 days before trip. Drove almost 9 hours to find our reservation was not being honored. Waited in lobby for 3 hours. Night clerk Myles said this was common practice to give away rooms. Very poor job performance and attitude. Next day my son and I went to Columbus for the day. Room was never serviced. Asked for clean towels 3 times just to never receive them and to be informed the hot water was broken. When we called guest services we work the lady up all 3 times. Only plus was the beds are comfy
Older feeling hotel, but with very caring and attentive staff. While hallways and some common areas are clearly dated, the rooms are very clean and well-kept with up-to-date furnishings. Towels were super soft and linens were very clean and crisp. Bar closes early, but not unusual for for Hotel bar. Breakfast restaurant has nice Buffet, but I didnt look at the menu options.
Worst hotel we have been too. staff were very rude and rooms were disgusting. hairs and hand prints all over the bed and head board doors had stuff all over them bathroom appeared to never been clean. towels had makeup or some other substamce on them. I guess they dont do much housekeeping in this hotel. It was only 40 bucks so i guess you get what you pay for.
One of the worst places I have yet to stay at. My room wasn’t ready by 4 pm check in time. They finally had a room for me at 7:30 pm. No restaurant or bar. No fitness center and the pool is closed. Room key didn’t work. Hotel is extremely dirty. One of the elevators are out of service. Garbage cans in lobby overflowing. Very lazy and uninterested staff at check out counter. Very poor lighting in room bathroom and no vent fan. And they charged me 140 a night. 6/18/21
I arrived at 10:30 P.M to check in, and could not be provided with a clean room for 45 minutes to an hour. I, along with several other guests, were instructed to write our names and number on a piece of paper and were told we would be called when housekeeping was done cleaning the rooms. When asked why a clean room booked over a month ago was not available at such a late check in, the manager simply replied that this was not his problem. When finally provided with a room, it had a broken chair, door, and cigarette butts around the non-smoking room. I do not recommend this facility if you want a clean, reliable reservation.
First off, the people at the front desk were nothing but rude. Then when I got to my room and went to heat up my meal...no microwave. I called down to the desk and was told there are no microwaves in the hotel except for in the lobby. Really? Finally, I go to take my shower and there is no hot water. Again I call the desk and Im told I have to let it run for about a half an hour before the water will get hot. Almost an hour later I finally get hot water... But only after wasting 100 or more gallons of water. The worst Holiday Inn I have stayed at in years, and I have been to a lot of Holiday Inns.
Busy at check in... but the staff stayed happy. Rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are very comfy and they have great water pressure in the shower. Hotel is close to everything! Only complaint is the elevator. It’s scary... makes a lot of noise and the doors don’t completely close when moving. Smells like something electrical is going on. We did the stairs most of the time and we were on the 5th floor. Besides the awful elevator that place is awesome!
Ive been traveling cross country staying at Hilton hotels for work, and this has to be by far the worst one Ive stayed at. For being one of the larger size building, it really makes it an inconvenience that only 1 of the elevator works. Also, there are no microwaves in any of the rooms You have to go down to the first floor lobby if you want to heat anything up. My desk chair was also missing from my room. When I asked about it, instead of grabbing one from a vacant room or even switching my rooms, they told me they couldnt find any; so I ended up having to carry a dining room chair up to my room.
The service here is terrible, my hotel bathroom was dirty, muddy footprint in the shower. How they rendered the issue is giving me a $10 credit, and having someone wipe down the area. They claim that the bedding was changed, and they know this because they have the “best cleaning staff”. But “the best cleaning staff” has been riding an elevator with hot sauce stains and hasn’t bothered to clean it up in the entire time of my stay... would not recommend this place.
The hotel was clean and easy to get in and out of. We were able to get a good price on the hotel tonight app. Some attention to detail was lacking. There were not enough towels in the bathroom and as usually is the case in most hotels there was no outlet for a hair dryer near a mirror outside of the bathroom. Overall good experience and especially for the price.
We stayed for 5 days and got an amazing rate booking with booking.com . The working staff were wonderful. If we asked for extra towels or toiletries they brought them immediately. I only have two complaints the tub and sink had no stoppers in them and the entire time we were there our room was not serviced and they never asked if we wanted our room serviced so by the time we left our sheets were dirty, the garbage cans were full. And also there was a moisture problem because the bathroom had no fan 😶. I forget to mention the room was a little damp. When we checked in our sheets were damp and I had clothes that I hung that became damp over night. So weird. Also the window had had prints all over it. But it was clean on a scale from 1-10 Id give it a 6 or 7.
Spent 2 nights there recently. First issue I had was that NOONE had a mask on in the lobby. When I went to check in for the reserved king bed...I was told the king bed was sold out. To paraphrase a Seinfeld episode, they can TAKE the reservation...they just cant KEEP the reservation. So we get up to our room at 7:00 p.m. and the housekeepingstaff was still cleaning the room. After she left, the room was simply not that clean. There were crumbs all over the chair. Gross!!Would NEVER go here again.
Check in was smooth and easy. Room is clean and bed comfy.. I am disappointed that there is no food and beverage outlets open. The confirmation letter i received said it could be limited. I arrived and inquired about the bar and restaurant for a quick snack and drink and was informed that do to current situation everything was closed. There is a convience area with drinks and snacks that was completely empty except for 1 ounce peanuts at $2.50. If I had known I would have chosen a different hotel.
I stay at this location with my boyfriend and daughter quite a bit (for the past few months now). Everytime we arrive very Brandon is always a delight & very informative. Anytime I have an issue he makes sure that it is resolved in a timely manner. He also works well under pressure! Last week he was by himself & the lobby was full of guests waiting to be checked in. He had everyone checked in and satisfied in the matter of minutes! He should definitely be recognized for his excellent customer service skills!
Lovely place and almost all of the employees were very pleasant. It has lots of amenities, and is located in a very beneficial place close to the main freeway, lots of restaurants and walking distance to the gas station. The cooking and bar are well done as well, serving delicious treats. Truly a lovely establishment.
Very friendly, helpful, professional staff, and we got a good price on our room. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant. My steak sandwich was delicious. Food and drinks are priced slightly higher than other places, but we expected that, so it wasnt a shock. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a nice dim light so you dont blind yourself when using the toilet late at night or early in the morning. The water pressure in the shower was very nice after adjusting the head, and the water was hot after about two minutes of letting it run.We will return here the next time were in the area.
I have been staying at this hotel for years. My company has a contract with them. Over the past few years the hotel has deteriorated from what I would have described as a great Holiday Inn to a fair to average Holiday Inn. My most recent stay, the front desk left me on hold for 9 minutes when I was calling for a pick up from the airport, making the total time to wait an usually long period. They later stated that I should have originally told them j couldnt hold, something I would never do if the phone is answered with, Can you please hold. The van drivers are always very polite and professional and willing to take you where needed and usually readily available. After reaching the room, one of my coworkers had other guest assigned to her room. She was already in bed. They couldnt get in because she had her door locked. The front desk worker then came up and attempted to enter her room, unacceptable for them to not know what rooms are occupied. The door handle leading to the fitness facility and pool is falling off and wont open when moved down, you have to lift up on the handle for it to open. Each room has a space for a mini fridge in the dresser, but the hotel does not provide fridges in the room (odd choice for furniture if you are not going to provide them). I honestly cant put a value on the stay, because I dont pay out of pocket, but if you find a great deal the hotel would be acceptable. However, if the hotel is priced at any premium I would look elsewhere.
Many of us stayed here for a wedding September 15th weekend. The hotel is very dated and prices reflect that. The room was clean. If you stay here, give yourself some time getting from your room to the lobby via the elevators! This hotel has the slowest and jerky-ist elevators weve ever experienced in our travels! The best part if this hotel are the employees. The front desk has very patient employees and were accommodating to the best of their ability. The bar and restaurant staff were also great and very friendly.Housekeeping staff was wonderful and very gracious. For a short stay this place is okay!
When we first checked in, the front desk staff was very accommodating at first. The housekeeping is garbage. The first room we checked into was a double. One of the beds had stains on the sheets and it looked like mold was in the corner of the wall. We asked to move rooms and the second room was worse. The toilet leaks everytime you flush, hair from previous guest everywhere, drug paraphernalia on the night stand and room has a musty odor. We kept asking for clean replacements of towels, wash cloths and the staff kept giving the run around saying they have to wash the towels because of the busy weekend. We left for the day,, came back and had a back and forth with the night manager. He stated we shouldve called front desk earlier that day....WE DID AND NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. Called them several times from the room. Had to physically go to the front to make a request. Unacceptable especially during this time of Covid-19. Definitely dont recommend. I dont know how priceline has this Hotel as a 3 1/2 star. Ive stayed at other hotels with the same rating and were 20 times better than this property.
Visiting on business and from out of town, the front desk employee was helpful and very friendly. Informed us that the internet service was not working due to bad weather and discounted the room. Went to the bar for scenery/entertainment and the bartender was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The restaurant portion was closed but the hotel had a shuttle that they made sure to hace available to take us to nearby restaurants so we could grab food. Over all - amazing experience. Thank you Holiday Inn
This hotel needs some improvements... the rooms have an unpleasant smell and found mold in the bath tub. They double booked on rooms, another person walked into my room while I was there and heard same complaints from other guest while checking in and out. Found people smoking marijuana right outside the main door entrance multiple times as I walked in and out, people sitting outside their cars drinking and smoking. You can find grimy people walking around the parking lot. I don’t recommend it.
There were some issues. Most were handled quickly and professionally, HOWEVER the biggest issue was being charged when I shouldnt have been because they didnt set up the group correctly. There were 2 large group events and at checkout they only had 1 person working. The person that could fix our issue had just left maybe 30 mins before it was discovered and refused to come back and fix it causing most of our guest in our group to have additional charges for their room (which was prepaid) and no other checkouts could be done for the hotel. Issue at breakfast with time/ food, banquet staff was caught eating candy off the candy bar (w/o asking & tried to hide it when caught) that we set up for our event. My room I had staff come and change the sheets on both beds as it looked straightened up not freshly made otherwise LOOKED clean. My sink drained really slow. I loved the shower gets really HOT! Shuttle driver was nice.
I booked this hotel through Priceline. I went to check in at about 8 pm and was told, pretty rudely, by they guy at the front desk who I actually believe is the manager that they didnt have any clean rooms. He said they didnt know when they would be clean and that everyone else in the lobby was also waiting. There were at least 20 people. I had to sit on hold with priceline for an hour so they could switch my reservation and then drive to the new hotel. I will never stay at this hotel.
Was there for 9 days. The experience was okay. Ive stayed at better hotels. No microwave in the room. Restaurant was closed. No room service. Had to go get extra towels. Had to carry my luggage no cart was available. Wont be staying here again. The location is great...all the right stores, mall, restaurants, fast food and gas stations within 5 minutes or right down the street o Royalton road
This hotel has a welcoming lobby, a nice restaurant and adequate rooms. Where we feel they fall short though is the pool. Our kids were very excited to be able to swim, but the pool is dark and poorly insulated. You can feel the cold air from the exterior walls. Though its a decent-sized pool, they really could make that area much more inviting. It really is dated and dungeness feeling.
Great hotel and a great room, but the TV was way too small for the King Suite. The TV was ok from the couch, but from the bed it was way too far away for the size. Also with the room being next to the ice machine, makes it one less star as well. The great water pressure from the shower head saved this review a star and makes it a 4 instead of a 3.
Went there for a work event. Used a conference room for presentations. The room was nice and the technology held up well with few difficulties. The best part was the lunch. You never know what to expect at a hotel especially for a work event, but the catered food was really tasty. Overall, it was a great experience.
I love all of the activities this hotel has. Cinema Wasteland is amazing- there are comic, and coral collection conventions, etc. I wish that they would put together some mixer events for holidays :) . Excellent rooms, decent price for all the fluff, great breakfast and sweet dining/bar area. All staff has been efficient and friendly. I always feel safe at their events, security is friendly but alert and solves problems swiftly without exacerbating things. A+
Its ok, nothing to write home about. Stayed here for a wedding. The room was alright but the lights were out in the bathroom so my wife couldnt get ready in there and we had to use our phones lights to shower. No tech in the room for charging other than obscure outlets. TV features were basically 1995 cable with no guide. The room was pretty clean just dust and dirt in corners. Ive definitely been in worse but usually stay in better brands.
It was cozy, the house keepers need to do a better job like cleaning the bathroom , I opened the bar of soap sat it on the counter picked it up and it was full of hair shavings , eww nasty. But we did enjoy our time and walking into a cold room is the best ever. Woke up sick, shower was hot the temperature on the nozzel didnt match the colors on the wall part so that was difficult almost burned my other half. But over all good experience.
Room - Nicely furnished. Comfortable bed. Decent pillows. AC worked fine.Bathroom - Surprisingly small. Very limited counter space. Clean.Restaurant - only had breakfast. Purchased very affordable breakfast coupons when I made reservation. Basically buffet but good quality. Cooked to order breakfast was very good. Service was excellent.
This was a great stay. Clean, friendly staff. I had my 2 and 4 year old with me. We ate dinner on a Thursday night. I think the bartender was our server. Very friendly with the kids and overall nice. We will be back as this is on our route to take the kids to see their grandparents. Thank you.
A somewhat outdated Holiday Inn. Generally okay with friendly staff, but felt old and a bit worn down.Convenient location, huge pool and pool area. Fitness area was small but relatively modern and well equipped. Lots of parking and located immediately beside hockey rink.Lots of restaurants and shopping near by.Price seemed on par for the area, but reflects a hotel that should be a slightly higher calibre.
First off our room had blood on the pillow and sheet, I called the front desk and she sent someone up but 40 minutes later no one came so I went and found someone. So obviously they don’t clean the rooms well at all.. gross also The lady at the front desk with long brown hair was very rude. She has a serious attitude. Disappointing
My family and I stayed there for 2 nights. There were parties all over the hotel the night we got there, they put us far enough away from it all so it was rather quiet. The room was clean. No fridge or microwave though...we have stayed at several other hotels and every one of them had a fridge, luckily we had a small cooler with us. We got breakfast with our room but unfortunately it is only for 2 adults. Anyone over the age of 5 you have to pay the difference. Their website doesnt say this unless you click every information button on the screen. The pool is large and deeper than most but that was about the only great thing about this hotel. Over all it wasnt bad, bring a cooler and your own breakfast.
Let me start out by saying that this had to be the WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I have ever had in my entire. I had 2 rooms booked for my wife and her kids and grandchildren. We arrived to the Hotel at 6 pm far after the normal check in time of 3pm. We were greeted with a line of people that stretched out the lobby door. There was ONE FRONT DESK AGENT answering all incoming calls from.the outside, guest calls and requests and as well as attempting to check people in. One after one I was seeing people go up to the desk and leaving so finally I screamed out and asked what was going on... The front desk Agent tells everyone in line THERE ARE NO CLEAN ROOMS AT THIS TIME, IT COULD TAKE A HALF HOUR, IT COULD TAKE 3 HOURS, WE WILL CALL.YOU WHEN WE HAVE A CLEAN ROOM OR WE CAN CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION AND ISSUE A REFUND...1st of all...this shame on management for not staffing their property effectively. 2nd shame on not having enough staff to have all rooms cleaned in a timely manner. It was a Saturday night...having to book hotel reservations at a last minute WAS NOT CHEAP and NO ONE.IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THAT. I had a 2 year old and a 6 month old that first they expected to sit and wait for a clean room. I want some answers and The HOLIDAY INN STRONGSVILLE NEEDS A HUGE WAKE UP CALL... I WILL BE TAKING THIS AS HIGH AS I CAN...Stay away from this hotel...!!!
I have mixed feelings about my stay here at the Holiday Inn. The room looked nice, but I could not close the curtains to my room. There was only a thin sheet that covered the windows. Second, I was in a single room that had a door connecting to another room of strangers. This would not have been bad except I could hear them talking as if they were in my room. There was no noise barrier. Also, there some some crushed candy under the edge of the bed.The dinner lounge was nice and had delicious food. The grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings were great. On the other hand, the breakfast was not impressive. The waitresses were obviously stressed and they ran out of a lot of food. They had no orange juice and no bacon at 7am. At the end of the breakfast they brought out orange juice saying they randomly found some. Also, My waitresses told me which meal I had to get. At the end of the meal she was nice and comped my meal because they were out of so much stuff.
Stayed for my sons wedding. This hotel was not a good experience. I understand that they do have conventions and conferences. Had my young grandchild with us. Couldnt use the pool because of duck decoys from a convention. Would be nice to know before someone checks in to know that Some of the accommodations were not going to be available. I would have stayed at a different Holiday Inn Express. Plus, boxes of ducks and wood in the hallways?! Seems like a fire hazard to me.
Elevators and hallway smelled like burnt rubber. Hallway was also kept at 80°. My rooms toilet didnt flush properly. There bathroom sink stopper also broke. I tried to call to report the issue but my room phone didnt work. Issue were discovered after a wedding, and I didnt feel like going down at midnight. I was going to inform the staff at checkout but the line was 4 deep. I sent an email when I get home instead. Its been 4 days and customer service has not reached out yet. I am very unimpressed with the hotel.
During COVID, the pool was closed and no breakfast (which we were still looking forward to, even if finger food to go). Had a fridge but no microwave. The staff was nice and seen the manager on the way out; let him know we needed a luggage carrier both going in and leaving and it wasnt available either time.
We stayed here for a week for training. Some of the complaints that I heard were customer key wouldnt work 9 times in 3 days you think they would have looked into this the first day or second day turns out the battery in the door was dying. Poor maintenance. Customers on the fifth floor had no water pressure want so ever for a shower others had cold showers on the sixth floor.. beds are good the food in the restaurant was over cooked.
Stayed here for my birthday in cleveland and upon walking to our room we noticed the housekeeping or cleaning staff deep cleaning all the rooms it smelled ao good on our floor in the elevator i was pleased to see this due to covid. They have a free airport shuttle as well my stay was great location was great and staff was more than welcoming thank you all for a great birthday!!!
Worst experience Ive ever had at a hotel. I was over charged and it took me a month to receive a refund. Their office manager Kelly would not return my phone calls or do her job properly. Jeff the hotel manager (nobody would give me his last name) failed to do his job as well. I will say the hotel is clean. Our room satisfied our needs. We used the restaurant/ lounge the food was good but over priced. I would not stay again!!
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I stayed here about 10 days ago and I still havent got the $100 that they held from me. I have called multiple times and every time I call they continue to tell me different dates.. This is the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced with a hotel and it’s not even a good hotel. Beds, showers, halls everything is dirty the only good thing was the price but even then will never stay here again and WILL NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!
If you’re thinking about using this hotel for a wedding DO NOT DO IT. We got married at Mapleside Farms and were referred to the Holiday and this was the worst part about our wedding. We had a contract for 15 rooms to be blocked off with a group rate if booked by a certain date. As the bride and groom we were suppose to have our room comped if we had at least 10 of 15 rooms booked. One month before our wedding which was well before the deadline of booking for the group rate, our guests were told that our block of 5 rooms was already filled up. It took us 3 weeks to get into contact with anyone from the hotel and at that point we were a week out from our wedding. They would not extend our block to our original contracted number and the hotel filled up leaving several guests from out of town with no room. Absolutely HORRENDOUS service, unorganized, the shuttles were not as promised, we had to pay for the room because several rooms booked were not under our block. 10/10 do not recommend. You’d be better off sleeping in your car in the parking lot of the mall.
Stayed in room 627 last night. The room was very comfortable and this is the first hotel Ive been to that has good water pressure in the shower. My only problem was that the bar has fruit flies which prevented me from ordering anything else from the restaurant. The heated pool was a plus for my stay
TERRIBLE! Housekeeping never knocks and just enters into your room without waiting for your answer and theyve walked in on me FIVE TIMES while I was indecent! And Ive had to switch rooms TWICE because of mold and bugs! And awful customer service. Used to be a nice hotel, but now its ghetto and inhabitable. Nothing is clean. Nothing is ever available. Dont stay here.
I stayed here to escape a terrible hotel experience somewhere else. The room was really nice, there was a nice little bar downstairs with a great bartender, and it was cool and clean! It loses one star due to my witnessing of a manager rudely and unprofessionally scolding an employee at the front desk right after she checked us in. I dont know what the employee did wrong but there was no good reason to treat her that way.Overall, I had a good experience! I would happily stay there again.
Staff was pleasant and helpful. Lots of parking. Close to restaurants, interstate, and gas stations. For a Holiday Inn it could use a serious update. Creaky air conditioning, faded entrance, trash in halls and trash cans outside always full. Ice machine on second floor non functioning. Armed guard present at night! That could be good or it could be bad.
Front desk clerk (Alexander) lacked energy and didnt communicate well, so the other clerk (Brandon) checked in two guests then came over to me because Alexander took a phone call, Brandon apologized to me, checked me in and had me on my way quickly. Not many breakfast buffet options for someone who doesnt eat typical bacon and eggs, but the menu breakfast was not available...so I ate potatoes and toast. But, Bridgette in the restaurant was very upbeat, funny and quick with coffee refills and service, so that was nice. The room was very aged and in need of a refurbish.
Within a couple hours of settling in our room we discovered two, live bed bugs crawling on the sheet of our bed. We immediately packed up and informed the desk person that we would be leaving and provided them with the corpse of the 2nd bug. They released our deposit but said they were unable to issue a refund because no manager of sufficient rank was working until Monday to do so. Im writing this on Saturday night, so well see if I receive the promised phone call from the manager on the issue.
We were in this hotel less than two hours before we requested a refund. None of the staff were wearing face masks nor were they enforcing social distancing. The staff gave my husband and I mocking looks because we were wearing masks which made us very uncomfortable. After we dropped off our bags two hotel guests (who were not obeying social distancing) in the lobby laughed at us and gestured to their faces, obviously making fun of our face masks. When I brought these issues and our discomfort to the attention of hotel staff, they (especially Brendan who said he was the manager) were rude. Brendan informed me that staff was not required to wear masks (fine, this is Ohio, I get it)--only the person manning the front desk was required to wear it and that he had not been wearing his when we checked in because he was literally eating lunch and could not eat with a mask on. Those are direct quotes. Why is hotel staff eating at the front desk during a pandemic? This location needs to take a serious look at the way they treat their staff--theres no reason this poor man (rude as he was) should be eating his lunch at his work station!!This says nothing for the state of our room. The bathroom light was flickering. We were very concerned about cleanliness as we were in town to visit hospitalized and vulnerable relatives, so wiped down all the surfaces in the room with wipes when we got there and unfortunately picked up plenty of dirt and hair. My husband looked inside the complimentary Keurig machine and there was a layer of yellow/black/gray crust inside the insert k-cup area (see attached photos). We packed up our stuff and went to check out. Only one of the desk attendants was wearing a facemark (this was after I spoke to Brendan) and the man who helped us turn our room key in was not wearing a mask even though he was co-manning the front desk which meant that he should have been wearing a face mask according to Brendan. When I asked for a refund we were told to contact booking.com through which I had purchased our hotel. Upon doing that, the customer service rep found that the contact numbers provided by the hotel to their service were only for a direct voicemail and to the hotel restaurant (and the attendant there refused to transfer the reps call to Brendan). We didnt choose to stay here for a vacation. We came in to town from out of state (from a hot spot no less) in order to visit our grandparents (both of whom are extremely vulnerable to Covid-19 as one recently had a stroke--thus our visit--and the other has emphysema).I am still waiting for our refund. Im scared its not going to come because I booked through a 3rd party--because, hello!, pandemic and the wounded state of the economy!! The staff was so rude, and the entire experience so overwhelming an uncomfortable. Ive never asked for a refund before in my life and I am certain that the staffers at this hotel mocked me and called me a Karen for being upset at their cleanliness, unprofessional behavior, and inability to wear masks even for those who they say are required to do so at the front desk.Do not stay here! Unless you think coronavirus is a hoax, then by all means ignore this review.
I stayed one night at Strongsville, Ohio. Staff charged my credit card an upcharge of 30 percent without telling me. I called corporate to tell them. They could do nothing so I called booking.com who I booked it through. Nothing done. In the morning I told this very rude 18 year old clerk I wanted a receipt due to problems with my bill. She flately refused and very rudely told me to get from booking.com. Booking. Com made the booking but the hotel took my credit card. Told this smug impudent 18 year old girl to call her manager as I was not leaving without a receipt. She played around for another 15 minutes and finally knew how to print a receipt. She is a leper for the company and unfit to greet anyone or to service them.I work for an airline in an executive position and will take my complaint back to have Holiday Inn removed so no employee or business will be done. What this clerk does not know because of her bad attitude Holiday Inn across the world will loose airline employee business.I used to stay at airport holidays inns when I traveled but never again and none of my employees ever will.Very poor quality clerks. They need to grow up as customer is always right.corporate
First, to be fair, the front counter staff truly was fantastic and was the bright point of my stay. I was there on business at the same time the hotel happened to be hosting a horror movie festival. It seemed more like a night club than a hotel. There were hundreds of drunk people in the lobby and halls at all hours of the night. Sleep was non-existent. Each time I would start to fall asleep, drunk people would party past my door. Had a drunk couple fighting in the room next to mine, some drunk person started kicking my door at 3:30am because they believed it was their room and their key just wasnt working. To top It off, people were being arrested in large numbers for acting like idiots while intoxicated. It was impossible to walk through the lobby without bumping into people. I was scheduled to stay a couple of months. Found a new hotel and moved after just 3 days. I believe any manager that would authorize an event like this at their hotel is border-line incompetent and doesnt have place a large value on the reputation of his/her company. Im sure the hotel made quite a bit of money on the event however, there are times when the overall company reputation should outweigh the income generated from a single event.
The location of the hotel seems a bit far to be called an airport hotel, but they do offer a shuttle. Service was very good, staff was courteous and helpful. The physical layout of the hotel is very confusing, a sort of elongated L with oddly spaced elevators and stairs not obviously located. The bathroom was tiny, yet still managed to be dimly lit. Honestly, the staff is let down by the rough, older building they have to work with.
Zero Stars if possible! Dont do it! I have used this company for years. For some reason this company is not performing as normal. I made reservations for a 3.5 star hotel. The actual hotel i received was more like 1 stars. The hotel had ZERO amenities that were listed. The staff was extremely unprofessional I witness 3 arguments between staff members alone on my short stay. The heaters did not work so rooms were freezing cold. Only one ice machine worked in a building with well over 200 rooms & the ice machine was on the 6th floor .I contacted Hotwire about this issue and they claim there was nothing they could do about it. I spoke to a supervisor & she stated she could give me a $40 credit. She stated verbatim out of her mouth if hotwire gives me the same hotel she can transfer me to another hotel if I give them a call back. She explained that she would put this in my concern account notes .I made an additional one night reservation through Hotwire with my $40 credit & received the same raggedy hotel. I called Hotwire as the supervisor told me . Hotwire acted as if I was lying and told me that they dont have an employee by that name or badge number given to me. Offered no solution. Im sure they can pull up recorded phone messaged but did not do so.In addition to this upon check out this hotel charged me additional $40 . For no reason at all! Im am so done with this company! I advise any others to STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS COMPANY AND ANY COMPANY AFFILIATED WITH THEM. Im sure in no time they will be out of business because of the way they handle customer service issues .
Very bad management! This hotel is completely mismanaged! I would never come here again! We booked a room through hotels.com when we got to the hotel late at night after a long travel they told us our room was not ready and we would need to wait for an hour to an hour and a half before it was ready. There were two other families in the lobby that were told the same thing. Another costumer came in later and they told him they couldnt find his reservation. He showed them the confirmation number, they said it wasnt in the system and this is what happens when you book through a cheaper website instead of booking with us.They told us we could get a refund for the inconvenience. I went to the car to check and see if I could find another hotel near by. You cannot reserve another hotel online for that day after midnight( the system does not register same day reservations)When I came back and told them I wanted a refund they said they couldnt give it to me because I booked through hotels.com I would have to call them. Then hotels.com would call them and they would confirm the cancellation. Sounds simple. I asked her to put it in writing. All she would do is give be the cancellation number and her name. Hotels.com tried to call them and they did not answer. Im still waiting on this process. They do not adhere to covid-19 protocols and safety measures. People in the lobby are not wearing masks, niether are the employees. There is no hand sanitizer. When a costumer voiced get opinion, a cup was called to stand next to the desk!Avoid this place.
We stayed here because it was near the airport. Easy drive to the airport, great customer service. My wife left a necklace behind, she contacted house keeping a few hours after we checked out, they returned the call promptly and will be mailing the lost item. Fluffy towels. Would definitely stay again.
Dont get a room here. I reserved a room to sleep 5 people. I assumed that this room would have two beds and pull-out or a cot. When I got to the hotel, the room only had two full beds. When I complained to the staff, no changes or refunds were made. 1 of our party ended up sleeping on the floor. In addition, the room cards didnt work multiple times, the bathroom wasnt stocked with any form of soap in the mid of the COVID crisis, and the neighbors were extremely loud. I wouldnt stay here again or recommend it.
The place needs a Good Cleaning and some Maintenance !! Even the newly renovated rooms need work. There was a layer of dust and filth all over the desk. I had to wipe it down before I was comfortable putting my purse on it !! Yuck !! The remote didnt work, the curtains dont cover the windows? The bathroom fixtures are coming off the wall, the hooks are loose?? And the lighting is Awful !! Maybe they dont want you to see how Dirty the rooms are 🙁 The only thing good about the place is the location. I stayed there because I had to. ps the Elevator floor is So Dirty I didnt even want to walk on it . . .
My Family and I went to the Easter buffet and it was absolutely horrible @ $27.95 per person I feel we could have had better food and atmosphere at the local Cracker Barrel. Two years ago when we went for Easter the food was wonderful. Not sure what they were thinking but even the staff were unprofessional as well as their attire.. I have worked banquet rooms weddings, parties etc. and would have been embarrassed to say that I worked at this Holiday Inn. The pork was dry the stuffed shells were dry and the potatoes were beyond dry. The presentation of the deserts was sub par not to mention the cheese cakes were warmer than room temperature. The children complained and said the cookies were nasty tasting. For the price they should have served prime rib and scampi as well as ham. We will not go back.....and what a shame. The manager should be embarrassed.
Spent the day attending an office seminar and had some dinner at the Simmering Pot. Food was delicious and a full menu full of choices. The stay was comfortable and the staff friendly. Right next to the freeway and minutes from hopkins airport. Too many options for shopping and dining all within walking distance from the plaza. Very nice location and would have no issues staying here again.
Visited the hotel for a work function. The staff was cordial and professional when outside the hall. The hall was a perfect venue for the event. Ample free parking next to the hotel. Cannot comment on the state of the rooms or the service, but if the lobby was any indication, I would consider stating there if work or life required it.
The lady at the front desk is very unprofessional, I called to ask about pool being open she said no I replied thank you. Well the phone call was not disconnected and I heard her repeat our conversation and then stating her opinions about her being tired of people just looking for places to swim with kids we needed to... quote “go somewhere else”!! If you decide to work in customer service you need to have better skills.I will never stay at this hotel!! Unbelievable
Upon arrival, rooms were not ready. A word to describe this hotel is disorganized. One receptionist tells me a time the shuttle will arrive and the other tells me a completely different time after waiting 15 minutes for the shuttle. Panicking, thinking I missed the shuttle. The receptionist dismissed my concerns and continued to take other customers. Timing is crucial effects to guests attending a wedding nearby. Especially if theyre from out of town. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone nor will I book a room here ever again.
The room was large but the cabinet doors were taking off. We told the front desk and they laughed it off. The next morning, we woke up to the floor soaked with water from the A/C unit. The desk people again were less than helpful. It was or wedding night and we just wanted a stress free night away from the kids but that was shot down. Also the bill/receipt was left under the door for us to find in the morning. Very unprofessional. We will not recommend this hotel.
Have come here for a couple different events. Cinema Wasteland is held here every year and I just attended A Night to Shine. Events are always very enjoyable here! Bar is good and the hotel staff is always nice. I have not stayed in the hotem, although I have been in the room and they are nice! Pretty standard. Great location right by the highway.
I had to stay here due to a remodeling issue and my water was shut off. I checked in on Friday, checked out Monday. Saturday, there was no service due to limitations on the pandemic....okay. So service on Sunday? Seriously? Look at themaking-the-bed skills! You cant even straighten the sheets after your elbow digs into them? Not to mention that upon my arrival, the room didnt have tissues, bath towels, wash cloths, nor a bath mat. I called the front desk Friday night, and did not get any rectification until a 2nd phone call on Saturday at 5 p.m. Finally on Sunday, housekeeping is coming! 1 p.m. I leave, 5 p.m. I return. The bed looks horrible--see pictures. During the night, 3 a.m., 4 a.m., guests slamming doors, leaving. What kind of a place is this? Strongsville better keep this place on the radar . . .
I used their airport parking service. The shuttle service is supposed to run from 4am until midnight. My flight landed at 7am. I immediately called to get a shuttle and the person at the service desk was rude and told me that it’s going to be an hour and a half wait. Don’t use their service. This is the second time something like this has happened. I travel from Ohio a lot. I will not be using them ever again
This a nice place overall but there are a few things I didnt like. Part of a wall piece is falling off, the pool didnt have any dry towels for my 3 boys and I, one the wall outlets didnt work the plug for my phone charger just fell out, and there appears to be electrical tape on an outlet strip because apparently its broken too. Staff has been kind and courteous though
So I only stayed here for one night with a group called upward bound, and I gotta say that this was a nice hotel, like you walk in and then there’s a spacious check in area and in the distance there’s a little hotel restaurant which looked pretty cute, however I was tired and just went to the room with my roomies. I walk in and the room is immaculate, and the beds feel quite nice under my skin when I jump onto the bed. The pillows were nice, both are the soft feeling pillows, so sorry to the firm pillow lovers out there. The tv has an ample selection of channels, however when I turned to channel 38, for the food channel it gave me HGTV instead, turns out the TV guide is sort of shifted, so food channel was channel 39 in actuality, so maybe fix the TV guide?? Other than that, the shower was very nice, good pressure and I just wanted to stay in there all night !! I slept very well in my bed and the next morning we had breakfast, I was only in the mood for eating one thing and I chose their sausages, they are absolutely AMAZING!!!! Love love love the sausages!!!! I also visited the bathroom near reception and it was very elegant looking, the granite countertops were the first thing that caught my eye, also the toilets were generally clean so that was nice. Other than that the worker that I encountered in the morning gave off very friendly vibes, she smiled and greeted me as I went to go get breakfast, then I saw her refilling the orange juice dispenser, then when we were just about finished eating, she asked if we needed anything but we said we were good. So yeah! Pretty nice place, zero bedbugs, screwy tv, and generally comfortable atmosphere!
Didn’t even follow through with my reservation. Waited half an hour for a shuttle (called twice as was told it runs 5am - Midnight). Second call results in them connecting me with the front desk who says that their shuttle stops at 10pm. Canceled my reservation and asked for a refund and called the same number I’ve called and 3rd person insists that there is a shuttle. Now just to wait to make sure I get my refund because the charge is still pending on my account. Greatly disappointed and won’t book here again.
Elevator never works, rooms are rarely clean, bugs, mold, nasty attitudes, housekeeping doesnt knock, computers dont work, opening the pool and fitness area twice even though COVID is still rolling around and they had an issue before, I cant stand it here. I used to really like it here but its so frustrating to even look at this place. Theres always something bad about it, barely any good. Needs to be shut down ASAP.
I stayed here in August 2018 for a business conference, so I did not pick this hotel, it was picked for me.Pros: Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The ladies that served our meals were very nice, one front desk girl was super helpful (maybe Kelly? I couldnt see her name tag) and one van driver that I talked to at the hotel was nice - hee gave me a ride to the mall. The bed was nice - not too hard and I slept ok.Cons: I waited over 1.25 hours for the pick-up at the airport. Talked to the front desk at the hotel twice, was given wrong directions to the pick-up spot at the airport, was told the second time that the driver was on his way, and then waited an additional 20 minutes after that. I timed the ride to the hotel - 12.5 minutes. You do the math. I saw shuttles from 5 other hotels come and go 3 times while I waited. As for the room, the door didnt shut all the way on its own, the toilet was extremely loud when flushed, the faucet dripped, and the toilet paper roll holder was broken.Bottom line: I paid a discounted rate due to being here for a conference - I would not pay the regular rate for this room without expecting better service!
Everything was solidly average lol. I booked a room with 2 beds, but was given 1 queen bc those other rooms werent clean. Okay, not a huge deal to share a bed with a friend. There were a few minor inconveniences and one notably consistently rude front desk worker. Every thing else was pretty great, the staff is pleasant, and i generally liked the room and its very clean. We specifically came to use the pool for a couple days, and that wasnt as great as it could have been because its S I L E N T in there, and its a pool room so everything echoes. We found that awkward when other people were in the room bc you can hear everyones conversations. Please invest in some speakers lol.
Only thing that was decent was the bed was made.Brown smears on towel in bathroom. I dont even want to know.Had booked a shuttle but the staff was unaware and claimed it wasnt there problem and did not make any effort to fix the issue. Simply claimed that it was not booked. Eventhough the shuttle service was there, and did not have any more runs to make. We even offered to lay the $25 per round trip, and still did not willing to accommodate.Pricing changed by $60 for inconsistent reasons. We were there for a wedding. The planners even but the shuttle service from hotel to wedding location on the cards, booked and paid for. We had over 10 rooms booked and still did not want to accommodate.
Location was close to our event, as well as many amenities. Overall experience was ok. Upon arriving, no carts were available to move our bags into our room. Also, plates/glasses from our neighboring room was in front of our door upon arrival, and still there when we left the next day. Would recommend getting breakfast somewhere else as well.
Had one person to check in everyone at peak check in time and took forever, making us late to the wedding. Took about 30 minutes when we already had a reservation. They had another guy working who could apparently only sell water? Then our room wasnt clean even tho it was 4pm by the time we got checked in. Poop in the toilet. The cleaning person came back to clean it but we had to get ready since it took so long to check in. The lighting is also very dim to the point it was hard to do makeup and see anything. The only lighting in the bathroom is a backlit mirror, no vanity light or anything else. Its really more of a night light. Hotel bar was very expensive, $7 for a 12oz beer.
So far its been a horrible experience. The pool is closed due to Covid-19, which was not disclosed at the time of booking, and so far has not been done by any of the other Cleveland-area hotels weve called. The phone in our room will not dial an outside line, which theyve offered no solution for. Upon checking in, I was required to pay an extra $100 deposit, which also was not disclosed during the time of booking, and absolutely SHOULD NOT have happened according to Hotwire, which stated that all fees were taken care of at the time of booking. Guest Services also refuses to answer any calls from within the hotel.
Good location, very good customer service. Only two complaints: one, the bathroom counter was tiny, but not a big deal for a guy by himself. Two, the fitness center left a lot to be desired. Only one old treadmill and a few other pieces of equipment. If I hadnt visited the fitness center, I would have loved the stay.
Hotel was hosting a number of hockey teams for a tournament in the Cleveland area. The only reason Im giving it two stars is because of the breakfast service. Breakfast was great.First strike was the first night when I walked downstairs to get towels for our room ( because we only had 2) and was told they would bring some up. When I asked again for towels they were out! So I had to dry off from my shower with a hand towel! They even ran out of towels Saturday night and guest had none at the pool to dry off.The elevator far from the front desk had a mind of its own.The icing on the cake was the second night. The hotel saw 10 inches of snow and a lot of cars were stuck and we all had to be places to play our games. Wasnt pleased because I reinjured my Achilles pushing a small SUV out of the parking lot. Someone finally showed to do a poor job plowing the parking lot and cars are still getting stuck. Our team will not be staying at a Holiday Inn again if given the choice.
I’ve stayed here multiple times and even went to an event here and overall I had pretty good experiences here. It’s close a mall and every restaurant you can imagine(it even has one in the hotel), the rooms were nice and comfy, and the pool was huge and my brothers loved it. The only real complaint is no free breakfast.
Over priced for their small rooms, beds are full size. Awful customer service, my husband arrived to check in & they had to call me to make sure it was okay.. I said “yes my HUSBAND can check in to OUR hotel room”. We were there with a wedding party, at the end the father of the bride paid for our room, and they charged our card anyways.. I called them to make sure they didn’t get paid twice & the lady was very snotty. So I said “you are just awful” and hung up. I would not recommend!
The room was great and overall location convenient. The loud people late at night are pretty obnoxious if youre bringing children with you or wanting to sleep in.. but rating overall comfort and quality im definitely glad we went here. There is plenty of parking too, which is really nice.
The past 2 visits (last year and this year) the rooms that were assigned to us had a number of issues. Which included each time we tried to gain access to our room, we needed to make a number attempts with the card reader even though it showed access. We couldnt get in. Room price went up which be OK if management repair issues and upgrade rooms. The food the hotel provided after 20 some years has not only become subpar, the is less on some menus.Next year we will not stay at the hotel for the convention.
Very accommodating! we happened into this location while traveling from Maine to new Orleans and arrived very late everywhere else we had called was booked. Alex at the desk was very polite and understanding of our situation, she even helped us find a 24 hour pharmacy to get a replacement inhaler for our youngest son who had misplaced his. We were surprised to see her in the morning when headed to breakfast, and she was still just as friendly as when we met her the night before! definitely recommend! we even made a reservation for our return trip.
Clean facilities, courteous customer service, a nice little bar downstairs, a great place when you need a vacationstyle stay. They allow conference rooms to be used for business and the place is so clean. Everything was organized in the lobby and the staff all around were busy and friendly. Excellent experience!!!
To preface this; I am not one to take time out of my day to leave a bad review unless it was honestly bad enough for me to do so. Our family was in town for a wedding this weekend and were all roomed on the 4th floor. Three groups of us had no hot water. We tried calling down to the front desk and waited on the phone for at least 10 minutes with no answer. They were very understaffed for a 6 floor hotel (I understand it gets busy they had a lot of check ins that day because of the wedding and another event going on) but our hot water never got fixed and we were unable to get ready the way we needed to before the wedding. Also, the room was underwhelming. Dim lighting (close to no lighting), no fridge...nothing accommodating and the elevators were old, dirty and slow. Just very unimpressed for a hotel that just got renovated.I wouldnt have left a bad review as the staff did rectify the issue with a discount on the room (which was very professional and kind of them) however, what sent me over the edge was the gentleman at the front desk talking to his employee about the issue. The front desk associate was nice and genuinely curious about what was going on with the water and asked this guy what was being done about it or what was causing it and his response was the most unprofessional, inconsiderate and insensitive response I could have heard from someone in the HOSPITALITY business.I heard bits of what he said as I was waiting near the entrance for my husband to pull the car around and I heard him ask her how many complaints? Associate said three and he asked ok and how many rooms do we have?...theres your answer its not a big deal. We HAVE hot water they just should have gotten up early enough to use it thats not our problem. We had a 3pm check in...its not OUR problem. If this man works for a hospitality business I just recommend avoiding that company as they apparently dont care about the money being spent by their customers to feel comfortable and to have the simple amenities required for overnight stays.I would have let it go as its cold I understand pipes freeze things happen and they made it right with us, but this man...wow is all I have to say. Shame on you.It was otherwise clean but I just dont recommend staying at his hotel. Just go to another one.
Clean and friendly. Only one small issue, booked room online, when we checked in and got the room key, we went to the room and opened the door, only to find a woman and her baby already in there. They should have better knowledge of which rooms are clean, dirty or occupied.
I cant think of much to say about this hotel thats nice. It was clean. So clean that staff was vacuuming out in the hall as I tried to go to sleep. The breakfast wasnt free. I passed. There werent enough blankets for the bed. I had to fold them on each other to be comfortable. Oh and the WiFi was awful. I would not choose to stay there again.
Had a weekend long event here using several meeting rooms. The staff, especially Deb, Gaetan and John were fantastic! Everything we needed was provided promptly, everyone was very accommodating to the unique needs of our event and our guests. Will definitely be back!
Strongsville is one of the nicer, safer areas around Cleveland. At this Holiday Inn, parking overnight is safe and there are plenty of spots. This Holiday Inn needs a complete overhaul though. It’s older and “dingy” with very minor updates. Also, the walls are thin here. I typically stay in Holiday Inn Expresses every week and never have a problem with noise. Also a little bitter on the second night rate of my stay. There was no mention of a $20 upcharge when I booked online.OverallPros- Nice/Safe area with lots of restaurants.- Decent hotel restaurant.- Safe parking with lots of spaces.- Right off the highway.- VERY friendly and professional staff.- Refrigerator to keep my water and leftovers cold.Cons- NEEDS updating. Has some updates, but needs an overhaul like the Holiday Inn Expresses are doing.- The room I stayed in had a weird smell.- Had an issue with noise from the hall and from the neighbor who shared the door that joins one room to another. He had music going that wasn’t overly loud, but it traveled to my room very clearly.
I was very displeased with my customer service at this Holiday Inn. Almost 5 months ago, we had a contract for 20 rooms for our wedding this upcoming summer. Unfortunately, today, I find out that they not only changed the amount of rooms (to only 10) and the rate ($60 more than the agreed upon price). When my guests tried booking their rooms (LUCKILY! because its super early! Invites havent even been sent), I found all of this out and they are no longer allowing guests to book in my block. I only have 5 rooms booked already, nowhere near my 20 room limit. When I called to ask, I received no help and was told to call a different number. I am yet to hear back from them (even though they stated they are IN OFFICE). Very displeased with this service and now Im not going to find rooms within 30 minutes of our venue since it is such late notice, let alone the fact they are breaking a signed contract! I would definitely not recommend having any group blocks here!!!
I dont know how theyre allowed to call this place a Holiday Inn. I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn that had the oldest TVs possible with no use of any of the new technology such as a Roku stick. The front desk has no idea to how to help anybody. The ice machines dont work. The place ridiculous
The first night we were here all they did was refresh the towels and make the bed and our all our trash was our infront of our tv left for us to clean. Isn’t that there job? So we thought they forgot. Well that turns out to be a lie. We have been here for 5 days and not one day did we get our trash picked up. Then when left our cloths on the ground all they did was take the cloths and put them all in one big pile in the corner of the room.
I stated here for my best friends wedding. The girl at the desk when we checked in after the reception was very helpful and kind. Her name is Alex. She was very professional and hades great customer service. Anyone who can deal with a group rowdy guest celebrating a friends love deserves to be recognized!
Building and rooms are ok. However staff is more than disappointing.Housekeeping knocks at your door at 7:45am until they wake you up and if you report it to front desk at check out, they ask if you have asked for a late check out. Just a joke.I can get that they knock at your door around 9 but so early, just check the check out list guys before you go to rooms!Don’t stay here if you plan to sleep.
My preferred place to stay while in Cleveland area. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately my last visit was less than spectacular. Had difficultly falling asleep due to a street light and a lack of any darkening blinds. It was then made worse by the room being on the way side making for an early morning after a late evening.
Stayed here for our first granddaughters high school graduation. Booked through booking.com. when we went to check in, they told us we had 2 reservations and would have to call booking to cancel. We did immediately. The deak said it was canceled and all good. When we checked out, we were told they could not give us a receipt because booking charged us. Whithin an hour of leaving, we look at our bank and see they double charged us. We immediately called booking. They said the hotel charged us, called the hotel and was told it was on booking. 2 weeks later we are still fighting it. Noone will call back from the hotel to speak to us. Besides all this, we had to pay extra for a breakfast that you get free at most other hotels, the staff was and has continues to be rude. I have finally called Corprate office and was told someone would get back with me within 36 hours. We will see. We wll never use Holiday Inn again.
Horrible! The rooms werent clean. People was coming down to the front desk and complain about receiving a dirty room and the manager was giving them attitude. I never have see a place runned that way. They were 10 people on a list waiting for their rooms to be cleaned . This was at 6 pm while the check in is at 4 PM
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS THAT DOES NOT ABIDE TO THEIR END OF THE CONTRACT, CARELESS EMPLOYEES, AND A WEDDING PLANNING NIGHTMARE, THIS IS THE HOTEL FOR YOU!! Stay away if you want to book a hotel block here. If this review doesnt convince you enough, check out the Northeast Ohio Wedding Facebook Group with dozens of peoples horror stories about reservations here. I was told in my contract that with 15 rooms actualized, I would get my room and a shuttle for free. THEY HAVE CLOSED MY BLOCK 6 TIMES ALREADY!! I only have 5 rooms booked. They make it impossible for you to get any incentive out of giving them your business. The first time I called about my block being closed, they said it was an employee mistake (he no longer works there). The second time I called, they said it was a computer glitch (yeah right). Everytime after that, nobody has been able to give me an explanation as to why they are closing my block and they also do not seem to care, as the only solution to this disaster they have offered me is extending my block one extra week. Wow! One more week of inconvenience by calling EVERY SINGLE DAY to see if my block is still open. I have always had a great experience staying at The Holiday Inn but because of this situation, I will never stay at one again, and my wedding planner has said they will no longer be using this hotel for their clients. I AM EMBARRASSED to even recommend this hotel to my guests. I will post this comment on every review website to warn others. You have enough stress during wedding planning. Dont let this place add to it like I did. Youre better off staying at the Mariott down the road because clearly this establishment doesnt care about customer service; all they want is your money.
The conference room where I attended Facebook Boost Your Business was spacious, visually appealing, and more than adequately accomodating. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Pastries, coffee, & tea were plentiful for all to serve themselves. The only negative aspect was where we seated ourselves. We didnt realize where the speaker would be and a square support pole was directly in our line of vision to block our view of whomever was at the podium speaking.
I’ve stayed here a few times when in the area for business. Overall an average Holiday Inn. The rooms are beginning to look dated and all (that I’ve stayed in) had some form of minor mechanical issue (lights, hvac, tv). The bar area is nice and pleasant for a night cap. The breakfast is substandard, especially considering you pay extra for it.
The rooms are a good size, but the shower floods easily. There are a few things to do in walking distance, a mall, several restaurants, and other shopping are just across the bridge. The housekeeping doesnt respect the do not disturb sign and will just walk into your room after one brief knock.
The elevators smelled of hydraulic fluid which was not a good sign they didnt have complimentary breakfast or coffee for the guests the lighting in the bathrooms are terrible and we were supposed to have a block for the entire wedding party yet we were scattered all over the hotel the shuttle driver was great

2022-05-03This hotel is now known as Best Western Plus. I was there for a week on a craft retreat and absolutely recommend that you stay anywhere else. This hotel is terrible. The main two elevators were down and were never repaired during the entire week I was there. The rooms are incredible dark, I dont know if that is to hide the dirt or the management is to cheap to buy brighter lighting. The Ballroom ceiling, the ceiling outside the simmering pot restaurant and the ceiling in the bar all fell in during the snow/rain storm the second night there! The indoor swimming pool was closed the whole time even though the lights were on and the ceiling fans were working. Someone said it was because someone had drowned in the pool but I dont know if that is true. The rooms have small refrigerators but not all rooms have microwaves. The backup elevators ceiling is held up by two shelving unit brackets! The only good thing about the whole place is that the food was really good! Seriously pick a different hotel, this one is not worth the price.

2022-06-09The ceiling in the bathroom had water damage that hadnt been repaired. The air conditioning was leaking all over the floor. And you could not use the pool because it was closed apparently for a year that no one said that it was when we booked it thats why we chose this place for the pool and close to relatives We did ask for a Discount and they said no And this is where were at Leave any review.

2022-03-09Poor place, we are a senior couple. Hotel wanted to charge $50. Damage charge, to be refunded 7-1O days after check out. I felt uncomfortable, never heard of this type of charge! Why kind of people stay there? Is it safe? Would not recommend? 0 stars

2021-09-25They are charging a small continental breakfast as a buffet and putting a 12$ price tag on it. I sent an email to corporate about it. They wouldnt let me post it on their reviews site. Because I recommend going down the road to breakfast where you can actually get a real breakfast for less or just as much. The rooms are nice the food service needs work.

2021-08-27I chose this hotel because of free continental breakfast and the pool. It was not a continental breakfast. They gave you a sheet you can chose only one item from. Only one breakfast sandwich, coffee, orange juice, milk, cereal, muffin. The breakfast sandwich was horrible. Despite paying extra for it, the pool was closed. I was given all kinds of inconsistent and nonsensical reasons as to why.The room was terrible. Ants were all over the desk where we eat our food. The bathroom had very dim lighting and no vent. We were told the cleaning personnel only comes to your room every 5 days. You have to request for them to come and clean. Wow!! After they came to clean, I had to ask for shampoo, cups and other stuff since they did not provide them, which is standard in any hotel..Ive never had to write a review for any hotel I have ever stayed at, but I had to with this one. I will give this hotel review a very poor rating. I could have saved myself money picking another hotel that didnt have free breakfast and a pool -- since again, I paid extra for these and did not receive them.I doubt it is possible, but I deserve a refund in some amount from this hotel. I would never recommend staying here.

2021-08-01Walked in and front desk was very slow to acknowledge me as I was waiting to check in. Finally checked in and room was gross! Got a king size bed and had to request a room change after noticing mold ALL over the air conditioning unit and bathroom walls. Random stains were present ALL over the walls of the room. Socks which did not belong to us laid alongside the bed. Ceiling was cracked in several places. Upon asking to change rooms, I was given an attitude and told I would not be getting another king size bed. I kindly explained the mold was not my fault therefore I shouldn’t be penalized. They put my husband and myself in a double Queen bed room. They were far from queen size beds.. pool was closed which was not listed on the site, as was the restaurant which we planned to visit. I would suggest you stay home before considering staying an overnight at this hotel. We actually questioned staying at the super 8 next door as it looks cleaner and more friendly !

2021-08-03Stayed July 30-Aug 1. Check in was fast and simple. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Everyone was polite and accommodating. Due to covid, there was no continental breakfast but orders were being take for bagged ordered at an extra cost. Only had two issues....the power button on the TV remote did work work and the knob for the shower was loose....beyond that.....it was a great stay.

2021-09-17Room is nice. Toilet is a little low for a tall person. Despite the water damage on ceiling and a little dust here and there, no floor mat it was ok. Very quiet 👍had a restful sleep, close to stores and restaurants (you have to try tropical smoothie cafe💜). I would stay again. 😊
