Save yourself the trouble of ordering Sushi. This restaurant is using someone who is inexperienced andnot well versed in freshness of the seafood being served. I had to bring this to attention of the manager. It took 45-50 minutes to receive a sub par services scenario. The Hibachi was a completely different experience. His is a true red flag. Pass on this.
As usual, great food and a good show put on by the excellent chefs.Edit 5-8-68: The waitress and chef were A-1 very nice and the chef made it a lot of fun. Despite the fact that they were out of iced tea and the hot green tea. The waitress said something like, I cant remember the last time we had tea. They also didnt have most nonalcoholic drinks. Like most pop and fruity drinks for the kids. We also werent given the normal hot napkin after we ate.The last one is a courtesy but normally given. It was my birthday, the waitress and chef were told by my wife. I go here almost every birthday/Mothers Day week and every time they give me a piece of chocolate cake with a chocolate sauce on top. I did not receive one.It seemed like a failing restaurant or a horrible manager.Sorry its so long.
Foods delicious. The fun really depends on what chef you get. Some are quiet and less entertaining, some go the extra mile to make sure everyone has a great time (the shrimp toss game and big fire is half the reason we go, amiright?). There were separators between parties because of Covid, so the social aspect was missing. No reservations - call ahead and get preferred seating. Might still be a while because its usually busy, but theres a lounge to wait in and the cocktails are great. Been here regularly my whole life. I do miss walking out onto pedestrian Riverfront at the previous location years ago but... the current location is pretty much identical inside. The chef we had this time was great - but for 5 years or so before this, the showy stuff and jokes seemed to stop (maybe we just got a tired /new chef every time, idk). The food was great and always been - the onlyyyy thing I dont like is yumyum sauce - I miss the old sauce.
Its always a good time going places with the family when visiting from out of state. We enjoyed out time at Hibachi Japan. The place was clean and the food was good but a little over priced. My Aunt said they were very accommodating to her desire for a gluten free meal and she said that once she shared that with the waitress they took care of everything. I would recommend this restaurant once or twice a year but I dont see it as a go to very often place. After diner you can enjoy the downtown river front shops and atmosphere to add to the fun.
Food: Sushi is average and OK quality. I wish there was more selection in sake, but what that had was OK. I had chicken and steak, which was excellent. Vegetables and meat very tender and flavorful. A lot of food was provided, with ample rice. Not exactly cheap.Atmosphere: Very fun place to take the family for dinner and a show of sorts. Kids will love this place. Very clean and tidy restaurant.Service: The chefs here are funny and friendly, and know what they are doing. The waitress was very personable and a delight to deal with.I would recommend this place to friends, it is one of the better of its kind.
What’s the hype for? I cannot understand why people line up for this place before it opens. They are Wasabi prices, but no where near the same quality of Wasabi. Vegetables consisted of onion, zucchini and mushrooms, that’s it. I’ll touch on the filthy comments left by others, too. I doubt they are incompetent enough to not take care of the filthiness. They likely just look at the line of sheep waiting outside and figure it doesn’t matter.
I love this place. The Nikkei roll is one of the best sushi rolls I have ever had. The Philadelphia roll has some wonderful smoked salmon in it too. I have to have it every time I am here. The hibachis is good and pretty much standard with others. Their sushi is where it’s at though. The atmosphere is chill with good music. The only thing I wish was that the bar and hibachi were separated some how. Eliminate he smell and smoke. I won’t hold that against them though. It comes with the territory. Highly recommend here and get the Nikkei Roll.
⭐️GO TO THE ONE IN SOLON!!..... this particular location had a two hour reservation. We drove 26 minutes to Solon and had VIP RED CARPET TREATMENT...Request ALBERT 🤩he’s sharp with the sword, light hearted with humor and loves his role as Chef! The moment we walked through the door we knew (and our bellies too), that somethings aren’t worth the wait.
Fantastic sushi, they use tuna steaks for their spicy tuna and I love that. Ive also had the hibachi, very good food all around. Only downside is their wait times are exceptionally long, and Ive found even if I have a reservation I still have to wait sometimes. This is the only reason it doesnt get 4 stars, because you cant guarantee youll be seated anywhere near your reservation slot. Food is worth the wait though!
To start with I have to say I am not from the area and where I am from japanese food is something I have every other day. Given to that point. I can say this is a western version of Japanese food. Hence why I am not super impressed. I think its great if you are a local and are looking for that, but if you want Japanese food... this is not the location.Pro:sauces are on the side and they dont drench it for you.Scallops are amazingLobster tail was goodEntertainment is funCons: food is so saltyThe soup is not miso, its some type of chicken noodle and the salad isnt amazing. Green tea is also alright but not the best.I feel that the owners know what the locals want and really please the people here. That is great! But if you are hoping for an elegant/upscale/ the food speaks for itself... this is not the place. You will smell when you come out, dont take your jacketPlace was great, people are nice. I wont go back but it was fun to watch the show they put on and check it out.
Please give Lindsay a raise! Every time we come there she’s in the front, behind the bar, checking on tables, and sometimes serving. She makes sure everyone in the restaurant has everything they need, I’ve never seen a more involved manager. It’s very clear that she really cares about what goes on every night
The food was very good and the service was decently quick.(The sushi was excellent) The prices i thought were a little high but overall i would return to eat again.Upon a second visit, we got take out. The service was a little slow but they were very busy. Waited roughly an hour for a small order of sushi. Food was still pretty good.
The food was okay. But the portion size is embarrassing. My $32 filet and scallop was a small shadow of what that dish used to look like. Skimpflation is real. I definitely wont be back. The service was also not very good. Theyre doing the bare minimum here. STAY AWAY!
Was really impressed! In months’ past, wait times were really long—even with a reservation. But tonight they were really on top of it. We were seated in a timely fashion, the server was great, and the food was delicious! It seems that a management has really been listening about wait times with reservations and I’m so happy about it
Long wait times but you can always go to the bar and grab a drink. The food was good. About the same as every other hibachi place. The chef and the servicing staff tried to be extra helpful and aware. Limited staff so hard for them to keep up on cleaning as needed but its understandable. I mean, do you want your food to keep coming or not!
The vibe and aesthetics of the place is great, and so is the service, but the food needs improving in my opinion. Salad dressing is sub par to other hibachi restaurants (not sweet and citrus-y enough) and the sesame seeds on the chicken and steak always make the whole meal taste burnt. Posted on 11/22/21, possibly it will improve, I think a little improving would make this place the best in the area!
Ive been here many times and have never had an issue with being seated in a timely manner. However, my husband and I just tried to have dinner there on a slow Sunday night and they told us there was a 2 hour wait. The restaurant was not busy at all. Ive been there when is was much busier. I get that there may be a shortage of employees, but a 2 hour wait on a Sunday at 5:30pm is a little (a lot) ridiculous. Wont be trying to visit again any time soon.
This place I always remembered being highly satisfying! When we went Monday August 16th for myself & my sons birthday for dinner it was awful! The place had tons of flies flying around the waiting room area which is not appetizing or inviting... We then were seated & it took almost an hour & a half until our chef finally came out.. the floors were sticky. The tables felt sticky. I then ordered scallops which were disgusting.. they had some type of gritty stuff in them & Im assuming because they werent washed properly! I was extremely dissatisfied with our visit and we spent over $200
If I could give zero stars even that would be too many. Arrived at this place with high hopes ready for a nice birthday dinner. We only had two small groups ahead of us and happily put our names on “the list”. After a relatively short wait, and listening to the hostess answer the phone and inform callers there was no “reservation” we felt our wait wouldn’t be very long. Over the next hour we waited as group after group came in and were seated ahead of us. When I approached the hostess I was informed those groups were “call ahead” groups and there were at least two more tables ahead of us. WE WERE ONE OF TWO GROUPS IN THE LOBBY(us 3 people). Other group (4).Worst experience we have had and such a disappointment that the hostess and supervisor were oblivious to everything around them. How do you not have reservations yet seat call ahead tables ahead of walk ins. Alarm bells are ringing…. Those call ahead are reservations whether you want to call them reservations or “preferred seating”Terrible experience. Left after an hour wait that should’ve only been 15 minutes.
Absolutely the worst experience ever. Had reservations for 6:30. Finally seated at 7:45. After 30 minutes we received our drinks. And by 9:00 we were ready to leave. No food other than some soup and salad. Not only did our party of 10 leave but the other people sitting across from us left as well. The manager, who by the looks of it, got the job because of his daddy, never once came around to ask how things were and when we told him we were leaving all he could say while laughing was oh well will never again be dining there.
It seems that for the price you pay the quality of the food doesnt match. I ordered the filet but it definitely didnt look or taste like a filet. When I informed the chef of this he assured me that it was. I always order the filet & lobster for my birthday dinner and the last few years have been a disappointment. This will be my last year I go to hibachi for my birthday. I gave this 3 stars because the rest of the food was good but mainly because of my friends who was there with me.
This restaurant would operate smoother if they only accept call ahead seating. Call ahead seating was 45/60min wait and walk ins waited over 2hrs. The employees, they were professional and friendly and possibly understaffed. We arrived at 7:30 (call ahead). We were not seated until 8:45 and it was after 11 when we left.Food was good and the drinks were strong (no complaints).Be prepared to wait.
Sadly the entire place just felt sticky and so dirty. The bathroom didn’t look cleaned all day and had a huge leak all over the floor that no one did anything about after telling them. I asked for a small bowl for soy sauce and the server said he doesn’t think they have any clean dishes. Really!?!? My kids love the idea of the place but I don’t think we’ll go back. Disappointing because we’ve enjoyed it in the past. The chef that did our food was very nice though.
This was such a disappointing experience. We got there a few minutes after they opened for dinner. Everything seemed dirty, floor was sticky, all the glass looked like noone had cleaned it in days, and the hosts had no greeting, and seemed completely malcontent with our presence (we were the only ones there waiting). I went to use the restroom while we waited to get seated, that also was disappointingly dirty. We ended up leaving after waiting about ten minutes. Based on the lack of cleanliness in the front, I had a terrible feeling about the actual kitchen and dining room.
Went on a Wednesday. Got there and was told a 45 minute wait, no big deal for a place like this. Our wait ended up being about an hour before being seated. Husband ordered tea for his drink and they brought out a bottled tea, weve been here before and this was a first.. Ordered appetizers and we were given something different because they didnt have the right ingredients for what we did order. I only saw 2 servers working and only saw 2 chefs cooking on the hibachi tables. From the time we were seated, we waited another 35 minutes before a chef was able to come to the table and cook. The salad was wilted, the soup tasted like chicken broth not the mushroom flavor we normally have, the chef didnt do any tricks like normal, and the food had a burnt taste from the grill being too hot. Even the other people at our table couldnt believe how bad their experience was as well.
The manager, Brian, of this restaurant is a class act. Had some concerns with the timeline of food coming out because of the short staff related to COVID. The manager treated us with compassion and fairness during our time. We will be back as the hibachi was delicious.
Got food to go for the first time... I couldnt be happier! Everything tasted great and was fresh. They are always super busy, so 30-45 minute estimates for pick up orders take about an hour. The filet was cooked perfectly, and the sushi was delicious! Worth every penny!
Amazing food as always, I wouldve shared a picture but you eat as the food is cooked and it was so good I never even thought to take a picture. The only downfall is the host process. They take reservations of bigger parties for future days but dont offer call ahead and wont sit people until they have a full table. As long as you arent on a time crunch Hibachi is one of the best places to eat in Cuyahoga Falls!
Hibachi dinners came with a warm towel to sanitize, shrimp appetizer, onion soup, ginger salad, rice, vegetables, noodles and topped off with a cup of hot green tea and pineapple ice cream! This really was the FULL experience and the little details made ALL the difference. Quality and taste of food with the atmosphere really makes this a unique dining option.
First time coming and last. Had to wait over 30 minutes for a small cup and salad the starters. Never got my appetizer that I order when I first sat down. The waitress only gave her attention to the people we was sitting that was not with us. Their orders was being made within 15 and 20 minutes of a wait. Never asked if my daughter or I needed anything was avoiding us. I came for my daughters birthday and it made me feel like the waitress didnt like black people. Was not happy! Couldnt get the waitress attention for a to go box. I had walk up to the front desk to get a to go box. The manger didnt really seem like he cared. I didnt want a free meal I wanted to eat and enjoy time with my daughter birthday, not be come to spend my money and be avoided like we dont belong .
Waited an hour and a half to be seated after the time they had initially told us to wait. After that, they served out party drinks, after telling us that they are having a carbonation problem and they would not taste good. The food was good, and entertaining to watch, but the server got our tables checks wrong multiple times, and there is an obnoxious phone that rings non stop in the main dining room for some weird reason. I usually have a good time here, but they really did not show any professionalism today, whatsoever.
We had arrived at 5:30 with a group of four. There was currently only two people waiting for a table and we were told it was going to be a short wait. More people started to arrive and continued to be taken to a table, as we sat waiting in the lobby. Eventually 45 minutes of waiting had passed and 6 different groups who came in after us were seated. We asked the hostess how much longer and she said “it’s looking like 45 minutes to an hour” now we are furiously as we had been waiting on the incompetent staff for almost an hour so we just left and went down the road to crave where we were seated immediately! Not only is the wait staff unprepared, you can’t or call ahead, they are rude and can’t pronounce names correctly. While we were there we even observed the white hostess erase the name of a black customer waiting and put a question mark because she couldn’t figure out how to pronounce it! Never coming back here again.
Love this place! Excellent food. Always fresh. Everything tastes so good and is cooked exactly the way you want. And the portions are huge! Well worth the prices! The chef always puts on a great show and the more you participate the better your experience. Even with covid our visit was a lot of fun. They do have plexiglass dividers between parties at the tables but that doesnt mean that you cant communicate with the chef and the other people if you like. Parking wasnt the greatest. They have parking on the street in front which is always parked up.They have a small lot across the street which is a mess! Hopefully they will work on that.
Absolutely horrific service. We waited 2 hours for a table/to be sat, then when at the table we waited 1.5 hours without any food! We ended up leaving without even eating! The manager was completely rude and inappropriate when the poor service was brought to his attention. They completely ruined our evening of celebration. Would STRONGLY NOT recommend.
TLDR: super long wait, food was good but not amazing, service was not bad but was not particularly good either.Meals were $25-$35 per personWe called a few days ahead for priority seating (they do not have reservations) for 5pm for 6 people. (Three people were in the room when the phone call was made, we all remember 5pm.) They had us written in for 6pm. No biggie, poop happens. We sit in the park nearby for an hour. 6pm rolls around, we go back in. We wait outside until nearly 7pm. We finally get seated, but service doesnt start immediately. We eventually get soup/salad. The chef doesnt arrive until nearly 8pm. The whole ado takes about 30 minutes, so we finished around 8:30pm.For the most part, the foods were yummy! NOT a good place for a shrimp allergy.First was soup/salad. Soup was really salty/umami. I loved it, some people said it just tasted like salt water. Salad was iceberg dressed with a sweet ginger dressing. I liked it, but 2 people in my party had to pass because of a ginger allergy. It would have been nice to get a little pot of dressing to share because some couldnt eat it and some thought there was too much on their salad.Next was fried rice, veggies, and shrimp. Wish I could have gotten more veggies, they only give you a couple bites worth. Fried rice was buttery and yummy. Shrimp was ok, which is good coming from someone who doesnt like shrimp.Everyone loved their main courses except me. Their dishes were very good! I got yakuniku (here thats just chopped steak and bell peppers) They cooked my meat with my veggies, I wanted my meat med-well, so my veggies ended up overcooked and oily.Pineapple sorbet tasted like a pina colada, yummy. Hot tea was very mild.Would not go again just because the wait was ridiculous.COVID: the chef wore a mask and there were large acrylic dividers between each party.
This used to be a nice restaurant! Ordered the meal for 2 and a chicken and shrimp meal to go!! They said 1 hour it was 1 1/2!! Then i look in my bag i only have 2 meals..called and spoke with the manager he basically said he can refund me or leave a gift card…horrible experience and customer service won’t b going back
Our chef did not make our food as ordered on the ticket given by the waitress. He looked and acknowledged what was written on the ticket but ignored it and the verbal request for the correct order. He did not interact with our table. Other chefs were spraying little spray bottles on the kids and talking with the parties and having a entertaining show (the reason you goto Habachi tables) at the other tables. Our food was bland, did not taste very well. Will not go back after paying $250.00+ tip that is included in the bill for our meals 3 adults and 3 kids. Fried rice was rice with soy sause and a little butter, no egg, onion, carrots just fried rice heated on a grill with soy sause.
Very busy and loud when we arrived, but our waiter, Kaleb, and our cook (did not catch his name) were AWESOME!! Kaleb really went out of his way to be super friendly and attentive and our cook made my friends birthday extra special. The filet mignon in particular was something Ive never had at habachi and it was delicious. Thanks for the awesome dinner :)
I was really disappointed with the cleanliness of this place. Last time we were there it was very new and clean. The bathrooms were disgusting, pubic hairs all over the men’s urinal, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. If you go there look around pay attention to the detail, you see it’s not as nice as it appears. I blame owners and upper management, they should utilize some of the profits and hire a good cleaning service.
My process started at 5:30 in the afternoon when I begin to call their takeout order number. After 30 minutes of being on hold and being hung up on multiple times I decided to start driving to the restaurant. After finally being able to place an order at 6:05 I was told that it would be a 45 minute wait to get my food. After sitting in the parking lot for almost an hour I decide to go inside pay for my food, and proceed to be told to wait another 25 minutes before the take out is finally brought to me. The food is always really good but being forced to wait 2 hours every time I decide to dine in or carry out at that restaurant is starting to be a little ridiculous a new process needs to be made
We’ve ordered food from here over the past year for takeout a handful of times. The first time was amazing, there is an onion allergy in the family and they made everything perfect. Since then it’s all been downhill. Each time missing food or made wrong. Tonight we called 11 minutes after open and was told they were full so we couldn’t place an order and to try back 4 hours later around 8 while the employee was laughing. It’s posted a stellar review after the first time and had to go back and edit it after constant bad service. We have credits for previous forgotten food and I really don’t think I’ll try to ever redeem that at this point.
Absolutely a wonderful experience. We drove almost two hours to get there, but well worth it. From the time we came in the door until we left, nothing but nice people. Our waiter as well as our chef were absolutely fantastic. The food is excellent, and prepared right in front of you. Some say its a little pricey, but not to us. We took home enough extra food to eat another meal. Great for all ages. We will definitely be back. And did I mention valet parking! Yes!
Tried to call ahead they told us that they were not taking call aheads due to being busy and booked up, but was able to walk in. Went there and was told it was a 2 hour wait , upon sitting there they were taking reservations over the phone. We went to check how much longer it was going to be after sitting and waiting an hour an a half. We were told they didn’t know when they were sitting us because reservations were a priority and they did not know when they were going to seat walk ins. I have worked in restaurants my whole life and you seat walk in reservations and some walk ins together. When trying to ask questions the man that was up there completely dismissed us and kept talking to other people and wouldn’t answer anything we had asked. He was so rude and dismissive. I LOVE going here and go all the time but I think after tonight with the way we’re treated I will NEVER go back. Customer service should be a key no matter how busy you are and to be dismiss is not acceptable.
I have been going to Hibachi Japan for years, today I was very dissatisfied with my food for the first time, I think it’s time to find a different restaurant to take my business to because I really didn’t appreciate how the manager handled the situation she was kind of rude and instead of fixing it she took the bill and pretty much told us to leave, not a problem cause it’s a never again for me. Im done.
Horrible service tonight. My party arrived at 5:10 for a 5:30 call ahead seating. At 6:20 we were seated. We were repeatedly misled regarding our table... The carbonation wasnt working, and the waitress told us about it after serving our drinks. The drinks were awful... What were they thinking? My check was wrong...twice. Get it together HJ.
We were the last guests to be seated before they closed so we had a large table to ourselves. The waitress, chef and other staff were amazing. The food was prepared in front of us on the hibachi grill and was excellent. Great conversation with our chef. Great time, great food, generous portions!!! Highly recommend!!!
The only thing that hasn’t gone downhill are the prices. We were there for about 2 hours on a Sunday. We waited less than 20 minutes for a table, then about 10 more to get drinks, then another 10-15 before we got soup and salad. The soup was luke warm. The bowl of lettuce with a tomato on top was reliable. We had a chef named “Harry” for our third time in a row. His food tastes bland and his interaction is nearly impossible to understand. Our sushi was good and our server was very nice but they are charging a premium price and delivering an average/below average product. Maybe it’s just poor luck having the same chef 3 times in a row but I can’t see spending the kind of money they charge for what we’ve received lately. I know this will be our last trip to Hibachi for the foreseeable future.
Over 2 and half hour wait for a table if u didnt call ahead. Heres a hint hibachi. You need another location! Or reservations instead of your call ahead thing you do. I wont be back until i can knowingly walk in and be seated or guaranteed a reservation by calling. Either add more room, take real reservations or open up another location besides this one. My date was very disappointed bc he wanted to take me here. When we arrive we are told 2.5 hr wait bc we did not call ahead. But calling ahead doesnt mean you get seated right away. They just put you on their list for a table. Its just dumb idea all together. Obviously we left and spent our 150 elsewhere on a meal that was good as well. Who waits 2.5hrs for table??? You couldve at least put a sign up out front to save us tha hastle of parking...
EDIT:March 6 2021Checked in at 4:45 pm to be seated they said about an HR wait.TWO hours later were still waiting to be seated, hostess decide that lathers parties shouldnt have to wait, but the the three separate parties of 4 should.Had been 2 hrs plus totally unacceptable!!?Average cost per dinner 22$Youre seated with others at one large u shaped table that seats 12. Your food is cooked to order at your table by a chef. The chef puts on quite a show 😎Typically expect to wait about 20 minutes before being seated.Well worth the wait time! Excellent food.We will visit here again.
Reservation at 7:30. We came on time. Was told just ten more minutes multiple times. Its now 9:50 and I am watching the chef cook my food. Im so hungry. This is ruining my night.10:30 update. Finally got all of my food. It was very tasty. The staff was wonderful, chef amazing. But I will never eat here again because of the wait. 7:30-10:30 is just not my idea of a nice time. You cant even talk with friends its too loud, and the smoke choked me and made my eyes burn the entire night.
First time ordering carry out from Hibachi and it was as good as dining in. They did an excellent job of making sure all the components of my entree (soup, salad, sauces, etc) were packed perfectly (hot separate from cold food, soup toppings on the side so they didnt get soggy, etc). I love eating in the restaurant for the experience and the food is always great, but if you cant dine in, carry out is still worth the money.
The last three take out orders were incorrect. The make up meal, incorrect. The prices still very high!!!Today we called 8 minutes after they opened and I was told I could only get sushi. If I wanted to try to get a meal I needed to call back in four hours at 8pm and maybe I could. Maybe!Hibachi Japan on Front St. has lost our business ☹️
Great food and entertainment. All options on the menu taste amazing. 5 stars for Food and entertainment, minus 2 for wait times. Expect to wait a minimum of 60 minutes before being seated (making a reservation makes no difference). My suggestion is to call and reserve a table (for 7pm, for example), then walk in at 7pm and check in, then go home or to a bar nearby and come back in 45min. Also, trying to get a drink at the hibachi bar will be next to impossible as their bar will be overrun with people waiting to be seated.
Not a very authentic Japanese restaurant, but good for what it is. All ingredients are staples of an American diet, zucchini, onions, chicken, shrimp, steak, rice, soy sauce, etc. It is a fun experience with the chef, though, and the food tastes good. Prices are a bit high, but our meals included filet minon. Less expensive options are available, though. They also have sushi and various alcoholic drinks. A typical dinner consists of a hand washing, drinks, green tea, salad with ginger dressing, a cup of green onion soup, sushi (optional), the entrée, and pineapple sherbert. Yumyum sauce and soy sauce are also available.
We waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seated, after other groups who arrived at the same time or even after us got seated in half the time. Our waitress forgot to put our food order in after we had already been sitting for an hour, then said nothing to the table about it and avoided us. Not a great first experience, but we are looking forward to hopefully better experiences here.
My significant other and I visited this place on December 22, at 4:05pm, intending to have a sushi dinner. The reason we came here, as opposed to elsewhere, for sushi is because it’s listed on the menu. When we arrived, the hostess assumed we were here for hibachi. A safe assumption, because their non-hibachi dining area doubles as a waiting area. Anyway, after explaining that we’re here for sushi, we were seated in this loud mixed use area. Our order was taken by a bartender at 4:15pm. Our order arrived at our table at 5:04pm. Little less than an hour later. It seems that this place prioritizes their hibachi clients, and in addition, it seems that larger parties are treated better than a party of two. Completely unacceptable. This place gets one star because they (1) don’t have a proper non-hibachi dining area, (2) take an hour to fill an order that is not hibachi, (3) prioritize larger parties as opposed to smaller parties, (4) waiter/bartender did not clear dirty things off the table. Will not be returning here and will not be recommending to anyone.
Restaurant was out of a few items including no soup during a busy Saturday night dinner rush. Food seemed to be partially pre-cooked/prepped. Everything was luke-warm at best. The meat was tough, and some of the steak had a smell to it. Normally I give a restaurant a 2nd chance to redeem themselves from a bad night, but the price of a 2nd disappointment is too much with other hibachi options available.
Hibachi Japan was a blast! Abraham was our chef and he was awesome! He was so kind and so much fun he made us the most delicious yum yum sauce that I have ever had before! We ordered chicken and shrimp and salmon and shrimp with lots of vegetables and he cooked it up so quickly right in our face! He was fast and made lots of Fire and scared the bejeebers clean out of me! He was so nice! The Waiting staff was kind and polite the whole restaurant was clean and well decorated everyone had a wonderful time we stayed past close and even watched the help get fed! What a wonderful experience! I want to come back every week and enjoy every moment of every day there!
I live in Florida now and love to come back to my hometown and go to my favorite places to eat. This used to be one and is no longer. We had reservations and it took 20 mins to get seated after people who had walked in after us. It took 15 minutes for someone to come to our table to get our drink order after I got a manager. Food didn’t have much flavor and the chef wasn’t very entertaining. Overall, extremely disappointing as this USED to be a place I had to go when I came into town because of the service and quality. It’s even more sad because a manager was there and didn’t even care that we were dissatisfied.
Fun, typical Japanese steakhouse experience. We have been customers for over 30 years (Since they were in the Cuyahoga Valley). It hasnt changed too much in that time, other than location. The new location is densely packed in, and there is less privacy. The smoke was also out of control, presumably due to how many grill tables are in one room. Our particular chef wasnt as much of a showman, but was one of the better cooks weve had there lately, maybe ever. We were a subdued group anyway, so maybe he could sense that. Ill take good food over flying shrimp and corny jokes anyway. The only negatives were dirty plates, and lukewarm soup and tea. For the money, that shouldnt be happening. If you havent been, its a fun experience and the food is pretty good. Be prepared to drink a gallon of water later, as it is loaded with salt.
Love the atmosphere...fun watching the chefs perform and cook. Staff is courteous and helpful with the menu. Love the food. I always get steak and chicken, 2 others get the salmon, and other gets shrimp and scallops. All are excellent. Fun to go as a group or one. Fun for everyday eating or special occasions. We always go for special days or when we are craving their food. Highly recommend!
We had a party of ten. Our server was rude. Everyone ordered sushi the same time as our drinks after we sat for 20 minutes, the sushi didnt come out untill after our food was already cooked. We sat with empty glasses most of the night. Even the girl at the front desk was snotty towards everyone she interacted with. If I could give zero stars I would. So disappointed by the way we were treated. The only saving Grace was the chef. He was fun, but the food wasnt great. My steak was good, the rice and veggies lacked flavor. The lettuce was wilted and brown in my salad. It took so long for the server to bring the ice cream at the end we already had our coats on to leave and had forgot all about it. Such a shame. We used to love this place. We all agreed we will never go back 😒
Used to come here a lot at their old location when I used to work in Akron. The food was just as good as I remember. I ordered the octopus salad as an appetizer. I would not order that again as it was not what I was expecting. I was expecting something made in house but it was just store bought octopus salad. It is sold at a lot of the sushi stand inside grocery stores. No reason to pay $8 for that. I was very disappointed but other than that everything else was good. They sat us all at the same table without any divider since we were a party of 8. They put plexiglass dividers in between different parties sitting at the same table.
The green drink was amazing. Food portions were a little smaller than some of the other same type of restaurants, but the food was amazing so it worked! The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and the hostess didnt seem to care at all, in fact, she wasnt friendly at all except to the cook to get some free shrimp.
Ive been to this place for many many years. Many times at the old location. Im ready for a break. We try to get their at opening but this time got their around 630 pm. I get the wait we wanted a large table on both sides. What we had was a very hot restaurant. They need to find a way to remove the heat that those grills and fire create. Also the help, they need more we waited for everything but the chefs. At one point they were waiting at our table and we didnt get salad yet. The food my chicken was way overcooked and my rib eye was cooked to my order but the quality of the meet wasnt great. The people ordering the salmon sent it back as it was way undercooked. I could go on. We are going to find a different place just to get some perspective.
In my experience with hibachi restaurants, its never a sure thing how your food will turn out. The chefs are usually too preoccupied with their presentation and end up either under or over cooking the food. Im happy to say that this has not been the case in any of my visits to this location. Usually I have an issue with the chicken being overcooked and chewy. Each piece was cooked to perfection.
I had long since gone to Hibachi Japan with my family when they were on Falls River Square, since theyve moved, I have additionally gone to their new location. The parking is still terrible. However, it always was. Ive since became a vegetarian as well, ...at first I was disappointed, to find only one thing on their menu for me.... tofu and vegetables. Not a big fan of tofu ever before, I hate snot slime texture.... but the chef promised to do the best he could....I tell you what!!it was the best tofu Ive ever had in my entire life. Hands down. The texture was soft, but not slimy, tasted amazing. Better yet, I put leftovers in fridge, and it turned to sheer midnight snack perfection. Thanks hibachi!
I love this place, service is good, chef is nice and entertaining. Food is good, it’s a little bit pricey but it’s worth it. Especially if you order calamari and sushi. Every time we go there I would always order rib eye steak and shrimp. Before they cook your food in front of you, they will serve you soup and salad first. And after you eat your food they will give you ice cream for dessert.
We travel an hour to come, we love the food, not sure what was going on maybe short staffed but reservations were at 6:30 we didnt grt to start eating until 8:45, some tables had been waiting 2 hours and got up to leave, food was good when we got it and staff and cook were great just didnt 4xpecr to wait 2 1/2 for food and that was after sitting down at the hibachi table
Our wait was longer then expected, but when we were finally seated we had a great time! Friendly staff, great food, and we were entertained. My suggestion to anyone who is looking to go to hibachi Japan is by calling ahead and asking for any early seating time and come early, since there seems to be a confusion on calling a head and how you get seated.
Way better now that its under new management and the interior looks amazing, not to mention valet parking. The food is exquisite and prepared quite entertainingly right in front of you. The chefs are authentic and make the whole experience memorable for any occasion. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a classy meal.
Food was great, as always. But we sat with a couple who had serious brats with them who climbed on the tables and screamed and cried. Mom and dad, instead of taking care of their monsters sat there and drank. This is where the staff should have stepped in and said if you cant get your children to stop you have to go.
Had a 7pm reservation, seated at 745, ok, it was Saturday night..Our hibachi cook was very dull, and not very personable. Rice cooked first was not cooked , it was like eating small pebbles. Had steak and chicken, wife had steak and shrimp ...the steak was ok, not great but decent..the chicken was inedible, some pieces fatty, some pieces raw, and some were just plain bad. Onto the shrimp, overcooked, overcooked, overcooked...all i can say..will never come here again..i have been to much better hibachi places around than this one.
Went with 20 people for cousins birthday. Wait staff was very attentive and seemed to help each other out even on other tables. Drinks were cleared promptly when finished and filled frequently. They accommodated our large party quickly we were all able to sit together which was nice. Chef was polite and entertaining. Our waitress with long blonde pulled back in a pony tail hair did a great job as well. Great job!
Hate the new location.Parking is a nightmare and the restaurant is dark and almost claustrophobic.Tried it again. May 2, 2019Still too dark, no windows, noisy, they make u wait until they have enough people to fill a table. We waited 30 minutes, then another 20at table before any service. Filet was tough & overcooked, as was lobster.I use to love this restaurant but wont be back.
Our family loves Hibachi! This was our first visit to this location & it was great. The staff was expecially nice & accommodating. Our son has a shellfish allergy & it was our daughters birthday. They kept everything safe & still had lots of birthday fun. The food was amazing & plenty of it. The only thing missing was the noodles. We highly recommend this restaurant. Cant wait to go back!
Valet was not parking any more cars when we got there at 8:15pm even though the sign was by the road. The lobby was incredibly full. I called the day before to put my name in for a party of 2 at 8:30, and we were seated around 9:45. There were no salad or soup bowls clean so we had to wait for those to be served. The chef and the quality of good were the only good things about the whole experience. The waiter was rushed. The restrooms were trashed. This may have a different experience on a different day, but this was not good.
Excellent quality food in a nicely done facility that seems very recently done. I wish parking was thought out a little bit better and that sake was delivered during the experience. Those two things being fixed would probably make this place a 5-star rating. However, despite this, everything was nicely done from arrival up until departure and I wouldnt really hesitate to recommend a visit.
First off, I love the new location! You get to experience a new way of dining and culture. You interact with other fellow diners if your party does not fill up a table which I always find fun. You are there to watch your food prepared in front of you so it is much like a show. The chefs keep the experience fun and light-hearted with conversation and tricks. I enjoy the free valet service and how the staff is accommodating and works hard on busy nights to get grills turned around so the next round of customers can sit and enjoy the delicious food and drinks. If you want to dine in an establishment that has a friendly staff, great food, and a fun atmosphere, Hibachi Japan is the place to go in the Cuyahoga Falls area.
We are visiting family from NYC in OH, it happened to be my young daughter’s birthday. We made a reservation for 15, they did not tell us our party would not be able to sit together. We were at the same table but five people had to sit on the other side with a different chef which made it a challenge for conversation. For safety reasons they had to keep us apart. Fine. For reasons unexplained the manager(?) came and started to hostilely move their plates around and was being very brash.I would say the entertainment was fun, our chef and waitress were very accommodating, but upper management and the front of house could use some extra hospitality lessons. When we left I said thank you to the women at the front and they didn’t even look up.Food was fine, pricey, and we are probably unlikely to come back since there are so many other really great eats in the neighborhood. The saving grace was outside there is a quaint park by the river where we could talk, stretch out, kids could run around, and open presents.
Definitely and event, the chef will cook in front of you with style. They have a tofu vegetable style for vegetarians. Sushi bar and full bar are available. Just a heads up, I would recommend for a party of 10-12 if you would like to take up a whole table, otherwise they will seat you with another party for space saving. Also recommend an reservation as they fill up quickly on the weekend, but mind that you will not be seated until the last party members arrives.
This was our first time here. We celebrated my step-daughters 16th birthday here and my husband and I were very disappointed in the service we received from our waitress Lauren. She was rushing us from the moment we sat down. She blamed the Monster she was drinking for talking and moving so fast. I found it odd that she had it over by her computer too . The soup and salad came out before our appetizers. Our chef and food was great - no complaints there. We were actually eating our meal and she comes out with dessert and asks if we need boxes for our food. Well, we are STILL eating, so we are not sure yet. THEN she brings our bill - while we are still eating and asks TWICE if its ready. We noticed there is an 18% gratuity on there and her response was ooh yea, but you can add more if you like - um NO we are not adding a penny more.
Excellent food, large portions, great service. No reservations taken, you must call in a time and people count but you still wait until everyone arrives and then you are put on a wait list with a buzzer. Avoid Saturdays from 5 to 8 or you have a 2+ hour wait. But I have to say it is worth it!
They take so many reservations and overcrowd their restaurant to the point of a fire hazard. Waited over an hour for our reservation before we gave up and went someplace else. There were other guests in the lobby (which was more like a sardine can) who had reservations for 6:45 that were still waiting approaching 9pm. It was absolute chaos in there and most of the customers were very irritated by the situation. Parking was also hard to come by and there was only one bartender on shift to deal with all the seated guests as well as all the waiting customers. We wont be going back. I guess we should have read the reviews before we put our reservation in, as this seems to be an ongoing problem for them.
Our go to place for special events. Very nice people. They have the japanese entertainment-cooking formula down to a science. Everything there is good. High quality ingredients. Accommodates vegans and has very good tofu. Only street and valet parking. Wish they took reservations, although they accept a sort of call ahead. So, call ahead.Very good sushi, however, it takes a long time to get the sushi so order your sushi with your drink. Given the quality and the entertainment, the prices are reasonable.
Always the most friendly staff. Its a great place for family and friends and its always welcoming. The drinks are Good, the food is better, and the service is the best around. They are always accommodating and willing to help. Chefs are entertainers along with amazing cooks. Always a good time. A
The place has management issues. They were not ready for service when the doors opened. Its looking and feeling dirty: floors were greasy and the hood filters hadnt been cleaned in a few weeks. Those should be cleaned nightly since they are visible to the public. The hot tea was room temp. even though I got it 45 minutes after I walked in.The spicy tuna roll was from the day before. The rice was dry and the tuna was tasting fishy. My nephews sushi was freshly prepared but the cuts of fish were oversized. The guest should not have to take several bites to eat a single piece of sushi. Our chef was entertaining and prepared everyones fillet to temp but he overcooked my scollops. They were small to start with and shrank up to mini marshmallow size. And whats the deal with the 5 lbs of rice getting reheated on the flat top and then waiting forever to get the meat?Management needs to give the staff enough time to prepare and the direction to complete every detail and dont serve old food to save money and time.
Most importantly, this place serves really good hibachi and sushi. My one issue is, the chefs here dont do anything special, they just cook and leave. There are many other hibachi style places in the area, that all give better shows than this place. That being said, this place makes the highest quality hibachi in the area. If only the chefs had a little more showmanship here. Overall though, this place is very nice.
My wife and I just visited for the first time! Awesome experience. Great food and service. Chef Ice was amazing! The food was excellent. We both ordered the hibachi chicken. The portions were huge and we had a lot to take home. Really amazing, will certainly be back and really recommend!
We where told an hour wait so we went to the bar to get something while we waited. We waited at the bar for a half hour until someone finally served us. During that time we watched the manager go behind the bar and serve his friends and have a drink with them. A server walked up to him and asked him to get her tables drinks and he said no. We then watched him walk up front and text on his phone. After waiting for an hour and a half we left with no food in our belly. We will not be back.
I would live to know how we can have a 6 pm reservation, be seated at 6:30, and we dont give our order until 6:45? They werent as busy as I have seen the place in the past honestly. Three hosts shiuod be able to keep three flow moving better. Food of course was fine, but the wait time for our two kids was just too much, for their parents too. Try harder folks. We finished and paid by ten till eight.
We used to love this place but they seem to have gone down hill. A lot. When I tell the cook I want my steak extra rare and put my plate at the grill and tell him its cooked enough, i dont mean leave it on there for another 5 minutes until its medium well!!! But with a party of 8 people Im not going to complain and ruin everyone elses night. And why the shrimp APPETIZER was the last thing he cooked Ill never know.... I think Ill just stick with Shogun from now on....
This Hibachi restaurant is everything as advertised! I’ve been going here for about 3 years now and never have i left unsatisfied! The cooks are authentic and the service is phenomenal! This is by far the best hibachi restaurant in northeast Ohio! I will go here multiple times a week some weeks! The food is fairly priced and the experience is great!HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I went there tonight (Tuesday) with my daughter and her family. There was a total of 9 of us. We ALL loved it. The place was packed and we still had wonderful service. Food was excellent and everyone there was VERY friendly. Couldnt have been any better. Only drawback at the present time is that there is no parking. You have to use valet or find a place on the street which isnt likely. But, the valet is free just give him a tip and youre all set. However, they are working on getting the parking lot.Everything is new so it takes a little longer to have it all!! The whole restaurant is beautiful. We had plenty of food and some to take home. It is advisable to call for reservations. I cant imagine how busy they must be on the week end.
Atmosphere in dinning area was great but food was fine. If asked, I would choose to go somewhere else for dinner. Taste was good but when you dont have a knife and the meat is not cut to even a reasonable size (sometimes took 3 bites to eat one cut of chicken), it is not optimal. Also the large sections of fat from the steak (with absolutely no meat on them) were not removed and upon fetching them out of the dish, they almost outnumbered the pieces of steak and took up an entire corner of my plate. Maybe I am spoiled by previous hibachis taking those careful considerations as to cutting meat into reasonable sizes and cutting the large sections of meat off rather than making them smaller and including them; either way, I wasnt impressed. Additionally, female bathroom were not clean and there was no rush by the staff to replace the stalls without toilet paper. At the very least the salad, tea and ice-cream were nice to have and waiter and cook were very pleasant and engaging.

2021-11-07We went right after they opened and didn’t have to wait too long for a table. Reservations are probably a good idea! The food was absolutely delicious. I had the shrimp and filet combination meal. They steak literally melted in your mouth! The soup was flavorful and the ginger salad dressing was great. Our chef was fun too!! That helped make it more of an experience instead of just dinner. The pineapple sherbet they serve after dinner was incredible. I said I was full but ate mine and most of my husbands too. The price wasn’t bad either! We will absolutely be back. Next time we will try some sushi too.

2022-04-21The food was really good and our chef, Jose, was super funny and entertaining. I really enjoyed the dining experience. Our waitress seemed new, but was friendly and helpful. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars was because they dont have noodles and when we got sushi, they brought sauce cups out but never gave us any sauce to dip in lol and the hot sake was luke warm at best.

2022-07-02My family has been coming here for years and this was the worst experience ever. Im a little baffled how poorly it was tonight. No interaction with the chef whatsoever. No chopsticks were given. The chef did not even care we were sitting there. He did not do any shrimp flipping. And my portion on my plate was basically cut in half. I talked to the manager and they said they weigh the food before it comes out. Im not sure I can believe it--- it looked like a child serving of food on my plate. Very disappointing Hibachi.

2022-03-23The wait was almost an hour when I went there with family at 7:30 on a Saturday night. But the chicken was worth it. Just the chicken, not the leftovers. I liked the atmosphere

2022-05-15The restaurant was filthy. The floors were sticky, the bathrooms were disgusting, and only one of the women’s was even working. I made one of the employees aware of the bathroom issues and her response was, “Yes, they are.”The table and chairs where they seated our party were covered in food residue. We literally had to use our own Chlorox wipes to clean the area before we sat down. (They did send someone over to help.)One of the plates they gave us had food stuck to it. I sent it back, they never brought one to replace it. It was only after the chef was ready to place my food that he flagged someone down to bring another.Perhaps the most disgusting thing of all is that one of the people in our party found a long strand of hair in his salad, and another discovered a hair on his plate. When we made the manager aware of our issues, she was incredibly rude, and told us to call the owner on Tuesday. I strongly suggest finding somewhere else to dine. This place is horrible.

2022-07-19Was always a 10 but last two times our visit was 1 star. Out of multiple drinks, over salted meal, no sesame seasoning, no chef interaction, bathrooms and restaurant dirty. So sad to see it head down south. Loved this place and frequented here for many years. Hope they can adjust back to the standards they used to have.
