Made a reservation for a cargo van for a April 1st move. Reservation was made on 3/24/21 to pick up the van on 3/31/21. Received a phone call on 3/30/21 informing me that they no longer carry cargo vans at the Reynolds Rd location. Ok... that’s fine, inventories and business plans change. But why did you wait 24 hours before my pick up to inform me? I wasn’t renting a car and they needed to change me to a different car. There are pretty specific reasons why someone would rent a cargo van.
We booked a rental car for a work trip with confirmation about a week ago. We tried to call several times on different days to make sure the car was available but with no answer EVER! We had a scheduled time to pick it up but when we arrived the girl told us oh sorry but there is no car available...on the morning that we were leaving! She had no information to give us and said to go to the location on Conant since they have several cars. Luckily we called that one and lo and behold...NO CAR! We will NEVER use this car rental again. She was very rude and unprofessional.
This location never answers the phone. Literally was calling back and forth for 1 hour but NO ANSWER, I usually rent through Enterprise but there was none close by. Then I kept getting hit with a $100 charge twice after my drop off, which wasnt discussed in the contract. Luckily I was able to get the charges reversed. This will be my 1st and last time renting from this location.
I rent cars about 2 to 3 times per week for my business. On July 10, I had a one way reservation from this location to another city. I made my reservation the day before online as there were cars in every class available (according to the site). They opened at 8, my reservation was at 9. I arrived at 845 and was informed that there were NO cars available (from any class). I asked why I was not called because I traveled quite a way off route to pick up. She stared at me I asked if any other location had cars. She told me to try Bowling Green or the Airport. I asked, could she not call or have them bring the car here. I was told Bowling Green doesnt have a driver. I asked for a manager and was told he was on vacation. I rarely use Hertz, and today reminded me just why.
Very disappointed in their customer service . I asked to speak with a supervisor waited on the phone for almost an hour. They never connected me to a supervisor . They took my name & number 3 hours later no return call. I called the Tampa location at least 5 times cant reach anyone. But they hav $381 of my money tied up. Please do not use this company or Thrifty thats part of them. They are very unprofessional makes traveling frustrating
If I could give 0 stars I would. The male manager refused to honor our reservation. Heres the story. We booked this through Expedia and pre-paid with my boyfriends debit card. Upon arrival, we were informed that a credit card was needed for a deposit equal to the amount of the reservation, no problem. My boyfriend handed the man the VISA debit card that we used to book the car and was told that we could not use that card because it was a debit card, although backed by VISA. My boyfriend does not have a credit card, so we were scolded for not reading the fine print. The manager did agree to cancel out our reservation and book it in my name since I do have a credit card. He would honor the price, however we would have had to pay for an extra driver as I was not going to be driving the rental. I handed him my debit card for payment and my credit card for the deposit. He said he could not split the payment between 2 cards. I did not understand what he meant because I was going to pay, in whole, for it with my debit card and was offering the credit card for the deposit/hold - to me, at the time, I did not think of that deposit as a payment, I thought it would be like a hold that a hotel does for incidentals. So I again asked what he meant by split the payment. Instead of explaining, he simply repeated himself. If someone does not understand something the first time, they are not going to get it after you repeat yourself. You need to find different words to explain it differently. Finally, I said F*** it, just put it all on my credit card then. The manager raised his voice, again, and told me not to curse at him. While I understand there were probably other phrases I could have used, I dont consider what I said as cursing AT him. He went on to say that he had the right to refuse us service. I looked at him and said Are you being serious right now? which apparently only made things worse because he said Thats it, get out of here, I dont have to rent you a car, go We asked about a refund since my boyfriend had already prepaid, he refused to process the cancellation/refund in store and highlighted a 1-800 # for us to call. Not only will I never do business at this location, but this man has just turned me against Hertz all together. I dont know if he was having a bad day, or if this is how he treats all potential patrons. Either way, Hertz will never see one dollar from me ever again.
Customer service isnt good. Car had scratches and dings all over it and covered in snow and I was expected to make note of dozens of small damages. They forgot to pick the car up where and when agreed and asked me to bring it back instead and was rude when I said no. They tried to charge me for the rental even though my car insurance paid for it.
Doesnt even deserve a rating. Was supposed to be picked up at body shop between 8-8:30am. Got to the body shop at 8:15am and the called Hertz to confirm someone was on their way. Called again about 8:35am and someone finally got there at 8:45am. Nice older gentleman. When I made my reservation I told them I needed a vehicle big enough for 3 car seats in the back. I went to put the car seats in and he said to put them in the trunk because that might not be the vehicle they give me and that we had to go back to the Hertz location first. Got back there and no one engaged with me at all. Had to say something myself and ask them what vehicle was mine because I was already almost an hour late for work and needed to load car seats. They said to use the car I picked up in. No one showed any care or concern that they had already made me late. Loaded the car seats myself and they barely fit. I didnt get out of there until 9:15am. I will never use Hertz again.
Had a reservation to pick up a car today through my car insurance. Called 2 days prior to make sure they had all the info and they said they did. Showed up today to pickup car and left with nothing. First the employee was 20 minutes late opening the office. Second he said he didnt have any cars available. What is the point in reserving a car if the office does not hold one for you? So we ended up going to ENTERPRISE and got a car no problem with a free upgrade. The auto body shop said this is normal for Hertz to not have cars for people with reservations. If you need a car I would suggest going somewhere else.
Whats the point of early check in when theyre never ready. I had to stand in line 15 before she even helped. 30 minutes later Im still not in a car because they have clean one. I really registered a week ago, they knew I was coming. I called an hour before I got there, still not ready. Horrible service, lady just shrugged her shoulders.
It was the absolute worst customer service ever. Employee Colin, was asked repeatedly if there were cars available, and he lied several times saying yes. After waiting 30 minutes I asked if he was sure that there was a vehicle for me, because I had to drive to Cleveland to catch a flight, he said yes. After watching him take outside calls, even though he had 4 customers standing around waiting for a vehicle. Finally stepping to the counter for the 5th time, he acknowledged that he did not have any cars at this time.I had to leave; my husband drove me to Cleveland --I missed my flight.My husband is trying to make it to his job on time.This could have been avoided if your employee would have been honest.I rent vehicles for work on a regular basis, I have never witnessed such poor customer service.I will avoid Hertz from this day forward, and will not have any good comments about Hertz to the hundreds of thousands I speak to annually about being great employees and providing excellent customer service.Shame on you Hertz, Toledo Ohio, Central Ave.Very disrespectful of your customers time.I had to give you a star in order to send this, but you dont deserve any.
This company does not ever deserve a 1 star rating. I returned my car to the Hertz Office located at 5555 Central Ave, Toledo, OH 43617 on Aug 15, 2017 around 4:00PM. When I got home I realized that I left the garage door opener in the car. I call the rental office around 5:00PM and spoke to Kristan Carter. I asked her to get the garage door opener out of the car and have it at the front desk so I could pick it up. I went to pick the garage door opener up at 10:30AM on Aug. 16, 2017 and no one had bothered to get the garage door opener out of the car and the car was rented when I got there. The name of the other Hertz employee on site was R.J. Stuart. The only assistance he could offer was to deflect any type of responsibility. These employees were so disconnected that they could not ever understand why I was upset. They had no empathy or compassion for he situation. Both employees are incompetent and should be terminated.
Go to Enterprise!!! There is no sign out front at Hertz, only at knee level on the windowsill and blocked by the rental cars that filled the only parking spaces. Park in the grass? We had to call them three times to find out where they are located, the phone was busy. There was only three folding chairs and four people in line (we made six) and one desk and two chairs for the Hertz people to sit at and work in the dimly lit room (the curtains where open). When we got to talk with them (15 min) they said the promised car was not available and that they could not rent a Chrysler product. They didnt say that when the reservation was made a week ago!! The only good thing about this place is the young lady who we talked with stayed very positive and upbeat no matter how many upset people she had to deal with. She should get a big raise (get a job at Enterprise). She is what got Hertz one star. The manager didnt even say he was sorry about anything!!!! He just sat there. Enterprise is less than a mile away and we were in and out with the car we wanted in less than fifteen minutes. And without any hassles as a walk in! Way to save the day Enterprise!!! Hertz maybe saving money on staff and furniture but Enterprise is renting cars and getting return customers. Thanks Enterprise. We will be back next time we need to rent a car.
Received a rental due to being rear ended. Car had a quarter tank of gas, no wiper fluid and smelled like an ashtray. Dropped the car off when mine was fixed and noticed I left my garage door opener in vehicle. It had only been 5 minutes since I left, called back 5 times in the next ten minutes to a busy signal while waiting for my car at Yark. I decided to drive back down and pick it up. To my surprise the vehicle was already rented out(it had only been twenty minutes) the manager told me they would try to get a hold of the renter and give me a call back. Never received a call back, so I followed up to no avail, no opener. I am livid about the whole fiasco. Customer service sucks and would like suggest never renting a vehicle from this store or company.
Trash.They were not helpful at all in giving me my best value. They did not have the initiative to provide me all my options for possible vehicles to rent. They showed little to no enthusiasm in helping me.They only provided information when asked, and even that information was either incomplete or contradictory to my insurance.
I called 10 days ahead of time to request a luxury SUV, and was guaranteed availability. The day I was to pick up, all they had was a Dodge Journey which didnt even have a remote start. It took them over an hour and 20 minutes to get the car ready and get me on my way. I had the vehicle for 4 days and was charged for 5 because they count calendar days, not actual days by time. Overall, incredibly disappointing experience. Will stick with Enterprise in Maumee from now on. Much better vehicle selection (if you request a luxury SUV, you actually get one), and better billing practices.
Pick somewhere else...Trust me...I would rate it 0 if I could. Cars are dirty, their office looks like a run down shack and the ceiling tiles are about to fall through and hit the person behind the counter. Horrible customer service. Almost didnt have a car for me. There is also no drop box to return cars after hours, and their store closes at 6...Most people work until at least 5 pm, which makes it hard to get to before 6. Do yourself a favor and go to the Enterprise location across the street.
I would give it a 0 star review if I could. Was told they would pick me up from the dealership at 9 am. I was getting my car repaired because of another driver hitting my car. They told me they didn’t have any cars to pick me up until 12. My car was a AWD 2017 Ford Fusion which includes heated seats, automatic car starter, touch screen radio. They gave me a 2016 Nissan Centra the ride is rough, front wheel drive, no heated seats, no car starter. Avoid this company at any cost. Previous reviews were very accurate
Showed up this morning with cf# for rental. I was briskly told they had no car for me, itd be hours! Apparently they have a contract with StateFarm so they cover them first even meaning giving away my car. They trump reservations which is rediculous! Also very busy at pickup & very slow service. Staff very unhelpful about situation offering ZERO alternatives, not empathetic at all either! BEWARE**Update: Tried to use them again for October rental and AGAIN same thing, they didnt have the size car wed reserved months before. Reservations literally mean nothing, you are just like a walk-in you get what you get.
Absolutely the worst customer service on top of a scam. I received my rental with a quarter tank of gas and was told to return it with a quarter tank or I would be charged. I returned it one week later after my trip with a little less than half tank and the lady told me it was supposed to be returned with half tank which was what was apparently written on the keychain. After arguing with her she finally told me I “would not be charged extra”. Unacceptable. Watch for scams like this!
Renting a suv from hertz going to Meryl beach in july everything is paid for but now am seeing Hertz is filing for bankruptcy getting a little nervous am I still going to be able to rent this vehicle? Should I just back out an get my money back? Will I get my money back?
This Hertz was better than the one where I picked the car up at. I picked up the car in winter haven Florida and dropped off here. Here the place was clean and empty while the employees were very delightful, I would come here because a lot of times this place is cheaper than budget.
Agent tried to just put me in what he said was last intermediate class car. Told me i would have to pay out of pocket for anything else. Call insurance co back since rental is due to accident. They gladly call and upgraded my rental. Thanks State Farm Ins.Updated 3/7/2018: yesterday received fraudulent charges authorized by hertz to a thirdparty company claiming i crossed through tolls. Platepass says oh we see that there was a transponder issue. Rental agreement only authorizes additional charges that are inflicted by me the renter. DO NOT USE HERTZ FOR ANYTHING. Be sure to ask ur rental company for a better rental service. I would highly recommend enterprise. Really anything but hertz. Especially this location. Would love for hertz costumer service to try to reach out to me.
Let me book a Sunday return on website, then when I pick up car inform me that I can only return during business hours because of recent thefts! So I get charged an extra day cause I have to bring it back Monday. I work Monday mornings so couldnt return it until after work get charged another day because it was after my return time! Customer Service was useless and deflected blame. If I would of known ahead of time I would have either rented from a hertz that took off hour returns like Toledo airport or a different company! If you are reading this so yourself a favor and rent elsewhere customer service goes a long way and this company falls short!Update after a few weeks dealing with people finally a customer service reprensitive noticed i was right and credited the two days back to me. Although if trying to return on a sunday use the airport hertz.
Have old, repaired cars. The manager is good for nothing, and even after knowing your gold membership, he will refuse to give you a class upgrade (which comes with gold) saying he doesnt have cars. Also had the audacity to say that they receive old, repaired cars and airport gets the better ones. So, off I went to Toledo express airport, and got a not-old Malibu. Better than dealing with self-proclaimed good for nothings.
Never EVER come to this place for a car rental! They lied many times from the car we were getting to the cost and how long it would take. They had a few months knowing what we wanted and when we were coming. We ordered a large vehicle and PAID for one and they gave us a DODGE DART saying its all they had but the person behind us got a larger vehicle!! Hidden charges not found anywhere on the website! Deceiving practice! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
The absolute worst place to rent a car. The customer service there is by far the worst one I had to deal with. Can never reach a manager, they barely ever answer their phone calls, and constantly hang up. Do yourself a favor and never go to this car rental. I dont know how they are still running with such bad customer service.

Ok, didnt have a choice, insurance forced me here. I dont expect much, wasnt disappointed. Clerk was proficient and quick in getting everything squared away. It was the huge fingernail or toenail and the wad of bloody napkins on the counter that ripped all the stars away from this review.
I had the worst rental experience with them..first of all they gave me a stinking dirty vehicle that I had no choice but to take and was confronted with a angry manager that was rude and snatched keys from my hand since I was complaining about the service and vehicle..I wouldnt recommend anyone go there
Terrible customer service. The phone line was always busy and when we did get to talk to them the said they had no cars and had no idea when there cars would be back. Told us to call back everyday to see if they had a car. How do you not know or have an idea of when your cars are coming back?

2022-05-12The best I wish I knew the managers name she really saved me time,money and stress. I would go there again for sure. If it wasnt for her integrity I could be other wise having big issues. Hertz employees should follow protocol and document car conditions with pictures. No excuses. This manager at this store is going places in life I guarantee you that. Principles are the best guide. Go to hertz on n. Reynolds Toledo Ohio. I tell the mgr the guy with the truck rental issue said keep that profile never change it and I will see you at the top. D.F.

2022-02-23Just booked a rental through AAA. as I was calling them to confirm it I decided to look at the reviews. Y’all all are truly right, glad I looked. And glad I called cause we need our car tomorrow and if I can’t talk to someone today then I don’t want it from y’all at all.Btw no one answered the phone. If y’all see people complaining about no one answering the phone at least try to get that straightened out. What kind of business doesn’t answer a phone call?I don’t know but I’m not booking here. Thanks for NOT answering today. I’ll cancel and book somewhere else. I don’t have time for this type of stuff.

2022-02-11They hang up on you after waiting and being tansferred. Staff is extremely unhelpful. They expect you to professionally clean the vehicle before returning it! No smoke/mess, they just are lazy and want to not do a touch up with cleaning between customers. I would recommend renting from another facility.

2021-09-15This location would not honor the reservation I made on Expedia. I also paid Hertz for vehicle insurance upfront and this location would not accept the insurance; stating I had to purchase vehicle insurance directly from each Hertz location. I cancelled the rental. Hertz refused to issue a refund for the insurance although they clearly state no fees for cancellation. So Hertz as a company also gets 1 star from me.

2021-11-02Worst service to try and drop off a rental. Took a few hours to finally get a rental sitting in a small cramped waiting area in another business, which was very limited in choices. Said there was a time difference, which there was NOT, so rental had to be turned in earlier than 24 hours. The drop off was NOT where it said it was. To call and talk to a person was impossible. The rental stunk so bad of smoke, I had to ride with my windows partially opened to avoid the stench (temperature in low 50s). Never rented a car before, but will do my best to never go through this experience again. Motor went out in turbo truck, so had no choice but to rent a vehicle to get back home over 6 hours away

2021-04-09WORST EXPERIENCE EVER with a rental car company... let me explain. I decided to book with Hertz due to the awesome rate they were offering BUT little did I know what I was getting into with that rate. I booked on March 30th and specifically asked the agent if debit cards were acceptable. He stated yes, with a $200 deposit. Upon arrival, the agent stated that they no longer accept debit cards unless they do a soft credit check, a $500 deposit and you must have a corporate account number. This is at 5:40pm and almost all rental agencies in the area close before or at 6pm. Keep in mind, I have my hotel booked that night for my trip and absolutely no way to get there at this point. The manager acknowledged the fact that their policy changed on April 1st but that Hertz in no way contacted any of their clients with the policy changed but instead stated it was his last day so pretty much good luck. It was a horrible experience and I cant believe the integrity of the company is like that. Would strongly not recommend!!!

2021-08-26I have rented from Hertz twice in the past six months, both for vacation trips, and have had no problems whatsoever with the process. All staff were extremely helpful, and had absolutely no problems with pick-up or drop off. I will definitely rent from them for my next trip.

2021-07-19We had a 10:00 reservation but did not leave the store until 10:50. Good thing we werent on a tight schedule.... They said it depends on how clean the car is as to how long you have to wait. I thought a reservation meant your car would be ready? Guess not here! Customer service was good.
