Heinens Grocery Store in other cities:
We love their ready meals. The garlic shrimp is like no other. Their vegan selection is one of the best we have seen. The prices are high but sometimes you get what you pay for. They offer decent deals and bargains in the weekly ad on certain items. Very fresh produce! Staff are friendly. Unfortunately, you cant take the cart to your vehicle, which is a little odd and inconvenient but otherwise no complaints!
Went here to buy La Choy Rice Noodles in a 3oz can because Instacart showed they had the old packaging instead of the La Choy Asian-style crunchy noodles. Big disappointment! On the shelf above they had actual rice noodles in a 6oz box (3 - 2oz portions), actually made with just rice flour and water. No Wheat! Heinens and/or Instacart need to update their photos. Also, these rice noodles need to be cooked and placed in broth. In my opinion I do not think La Choy Rice Noodles were rice noodles at all, they just called them that. Hence the name change!
I’ll start out by saying I shop at this Heinen’s location and spend several hundreds of dollars a month here.Today when checking out (Diane) the cashier was very unpleasant towards folks who weren’t wearing masks. As I approached her lane she asked for my phone number for my loyalty card. I stepped aside and shouted my phone number as she spouted off about everyone who isn’t wearing masks and how many employees are out sick with the Covid. It’s my right as a customer to choose if I want to wear a mask per vaccination guidelines. I shouldn’t feel badgered coming into the store not wearing one. As a loyal client of Heinen’s and especially the Mentor location I would recommend that the staff keep their Mask commentary to the break room. Heinen’s doesn’t pay cashiers to litigate in the checkout lines.
I can usually find vegan items here that I cant find anywhere else, but store employees are rather aloof toward minority customers. This is very typical for a number of businesses in Mentor. However, the closemindednes of most white people in this community wont stop me from being me.
It is always enjoyable shopping at the Mentor Heinens! The staff is always helpful and friendly! The produce is always fresh and beautiful! Love, love, love, the fresh sushi! My great aunt always had some of the Jarlsberg dip in her fridge! It is delicious with crackers or pita chips or even on carrots/celery sticks if looking for low carb!! Dont forget the fresh baked goods! Fresh bread and rolls, cookies and donuts! So yummy 😋!!! Come and enjoy EVERYTHING Heinena has to offer!!
A good market that definitely has fresh food 😋 Everyone that goes here that I know especially loves there bread. Some items, such as snacks, can be expansive though. Went here today and got a really good deal on a cookie. At the bakery they were selling cookies bigger then my face for ONLY 2 bucks!
Heinens is a fantastic, locally owned grocer. The staff cares and strives to go above and beyond. They clearly want to be the best and work to be so for the customer. In terms of products the weekly sales are good and the customer rewards program is definitely an excellent one to sign up for. Heinens also often has difficult to find products.
This is not my kind of store. I want meat that looks like it was just cut by a butcher. Im not interested in Organic foods which are too costly for my budget. Heinens meets the needs of a of many shoppers who want beautifully prepared, high-end selections and overpriced staples--thats not me.
The customer service at Heinens is friendly, helpful, the best! The store is neat and clean and the aisles are not crowded with extra displays. Weekly specials are easy to find, and the Tasteful Rewards program offers items at additional discount, great for trying new things. Selection is great, center store, meat, seafood, deli and produce.
First time here today. Close to work and my co-workers said they have great prepared food. Was not disappointed!First off, the build your own salad bar is amazing!!! Second, the two employees I talked to were super helpful and very nice. Like I said, have never been here before. Will definitely be back for that salad bar. Great for lunch!
Always come in here multiple times a week and this store always has the best employers. The cashier named Maddie is always wonderful with a smile on her face every time she cashes me out. Very nice employee and very fast and efficient. Always has a positive attitude every time I come in. Definitely need more employees like her!
Been shopping here for literally years! Come for the variety, quality...whether it be meats or produce,...and return for the Customer Service, cleanliness of the store and smiles/courtesy of the associates! And for those who think that they’re a bit higher than the other options in the area, do an item by item price-comparison and I think you’ll find that they’re extremely competitive!
I love this store! Even though I dont live in the Cleveland area any more, I think this local grocery store chain does it right and I wish I had something similar where I live now. Local foods, foods produced without unnecessary additives and a wide variety. I especially love the system for loading groceries into your car. Not only does it keep carts out if the parking lot, it keeps you from standing outside in wind, rain or snow to load them yourself. Its a great service for customers!
This is the best store in the area. Super-fresh organic produce that stays fresh for long periods of time, as well as their dairy products. I rarely have to wait in the checkout line, its as though someone magically opens a new register if the line begins to grow. Heinens has special sales on many useful items every week. The health supplements are competitively priced and are of high quality. The staff, each and every one, is helpful and friendly. And they bring your groceries to your car! Love this well-organized store.
A very solid high end supermarket. The alcohol is fantastic. This isnt too easy that you cant find what you want at a good price, but if you want a great selection that will meet a foodies requirements, it will be here (within limitation with very specific ethnic items - no fermented bean curd).
Possibly one of the nicest grocery stores Ive ever been too. The entire floor is clean, and attention to detail is fantastic, the selection/quality of the items here are incredible, and the staff are prompt, courteous, and fantastic. This place earns my ultra rare 5 star rating, well done.
Fantastic grocery store with a fantastic produce selection. Lots of various dry and canned goods that are hard to find at other stores. A little odd that you cant take the shopping carts out of the building, having to leave groceries with an employee and bring your car into the pickup line can be a massive waste of time when they are busy.
Excellent grocery store. Its the most expensive full service grocery around, but also high quality. Produce freshness and longevity are superior to the other grocery stores. Prepared foods are above average to very good. Excellent deli food products. Excellent bakery, with fresh bread baked daily. Checkout is always reasonably fast unlike many other stores. Has a car service that you leave your groceries with, then pull your car up and theyll load it for you - very convenient, and it keeps the carts out of the parking lot and off of your car.
Great produce, seafood, meats, bakery and deli departments. Enjoyed the staffed beer and wine department and their input. Employees very helpful. Its nice to see a store that not only have cashiers to ring you out, but plenty of baggers to package your groceries. Love the idea of the not permitting carts in the parking lot and instead having complimentary curbside parcel pickup.
We started shopping at Heinens after becoming vegetarians. Their food is really fresh and they have a wide variety compared to other food stores. The People are friendly and helpful. The customer service is always first rate. We always look forward to shopping at our new favorite grocery store.
I love this store. Prices are a bit higher than a mainstream grocery like Giant Eagle, but they have good sales and so many unique items that you cannot find anywhere else. Also if you are looking for something they dont carry, they will order it for you. They load your car for you, all you do is leave your cart and pull up! Its sort of an old school concept where they actually go out of their way to make customers happy, something that is very rare anymore. There are so many employees walking around, you can always find someone for help, and they are always happy to do so. A lot of teens work here as well and they are so respectful and professional. Very clean and organized :)
What all grocery stores should be like. Great customer service, fresh produce and amazing pastries. They are higher priced than most, however you get what you paid for. Usually very busy, weve shopped at different times during the day seemed that its pretty steady throughout the day.
Great if you are looking for higher quality brands than Giant Eagle, of course you do pay more. Not as big as the Chardon location, but its 10 min closer to me, so I usually choose this location. Good prepared foods section, good craft beer and wine selection, and the floral department, though small, usually has good prices for when you want to get a nice little gift for someone special.
Heinens customer service is exemplary! The crew members are always upbeat and go out of their way to assist you. Their selection and supply can be counted on, particularly during holidays when their competitions selections are slim and their inventory depleted or picked over. The prices are a bit higher than competition but the quality and reliability make it worth every penny!
They have some great produce and food but pricey! I use the Instacart delivery a lot, which is a great way to avoid having to actually go into the store to shop. I am so busy! Their shoppers do a great job of finding the right things for you. Why dont they sell bubble bath? There are some strange things they dont sell but have a nice wine collection, which they do not deliver, but I am willing to forgive them for that.
Love this grocery store. Very convenient location in Mentor and an easy place to quickly be in and out of if need be. There is a huge variety of pre-made food that you can purchase and just heat up on your own. The grocery store is a generally little pricier than some of the other store options, but I know that I am getting great quality in products and in service each time I go. This location does not have a dining area to sit but they do have the workers to load the groceries in your car as many do.
This is the best grocery store ever. The meat and produce dept. are what makes it far superior than other stores. They actually LISTEN when you tell them if you want something special, and if they dont have it they will get it for you. Its also nice how you can get in and out of the store fairly quickly, and that they offer help putting groceries into your car!
Love the store the selections but the cashier Halle needs to find a new job if she thinks its ok to speak to customers the way she does. After 3 different encounters I realized that it wasnt a one off or a bad day but a pattern of behvior. I avoid her line at all costs.
RUDE!!! This store is so nice until you get to the cash register. I’m never shocked when a cashier is “having a bad day” at Heinen’s. Whether it’s because a cashier INSISTED I was giving her the wrong phone number or a cashier that felt entitled to become belligerent when my card got stuck in my wallet for a split second or a cashier that got offended when she shorted me $10. Get it together! I spent 5 years in retail management. I understand that there are profoundly bad days, but it’s gotten so bad and so consistent that I feel the need to write a public review online. Complaining to management clearly only makes things worse. It makes me wonder how management treats the cashiers. Heinen’s is the only place that sells some of the food I need, so I either have to shop there sometimes, drive to Beachwood or the Heights or go without. The last time I was in I wanted SO badly to just walk out without paying and let whoever it is deal with the fruits of their bad attitudes, but I refuse to allow trashy behavior to bring me down. At this point, I’d rather go without than even be tempted to stoop to their level.
This was my first visit and my last. Worst shopping experience of my life. Everything is geared towards overpriced chi chi prepared garbage. It goes to show you that in this age of entitlement no one wants to cook anymore. Why? Because theyre lazy plain and simple. Not impressed withe the seafood or meat , overpriced and unappetizing. Flavored coffee grinder broken so what does that mean? Everyone uses the unflavored one which taints any coffee you may want to buy. Bunch of snotty kids manning the registers. And my favorite, no carts in parking lot. Stupid girl trying to hand me my groceries out of turn and then arguing with me when I tell her I have a certain way of loading things. If your ever down south go shop at a Publix and youll see what a real grocery store is.
The prepared foods are great. Three soups daily, fresh salad bar with wide assortment, and a breakfast fruit bar too. Good meats, in-house butcher, and a fine wine department, w sommelier.Prices are comparable to Giant Eagle, but quality of meats and produce is much better. The comparison to Marcs is a farce. Marcs is great for what its for, but its not really a grocery store, its a deep discount. Get your non-perishables there; but fresh fruits & veggies, meats & prepared foods, soups & fresh salad bar- Heinens is really the place.
While shopping to day I had to interact with the customer service department. I would like to let management know, what a wonderful and caring employee they have in there Mentor store by the name of Cathy. With out going into detail, we had a personal conversation, which in turn made my day much brighter. Thank you Cathy and God Bless You.
I love it obviously because it is a welcome alternative over driving to Whole Foods or Trader Joes out in Woodmere. Or even Giant Eagle or Marcs. I am so glad Heinens is in my community. They have just about everything I need, organic or not. Not a big store either, but the shelves and walking space are all arranged and organized well. Always clean too! Also love the cold bar and deli...they actually have some healthy choices. My only qualm is that they close early, like 8 or 8:30pm...
I love this store! Love their food. I life in a suburb of Cincinnati called West Chester Ohio and would love it if they would open one by us! I come to visit my mom in Mentor and always make sure to stop in before I head back home. Would Love love love it if you could open one by us it would do fantastic!SinceleyLeslie Eversole
They are about the customer. The Customer is their sole reason to be there. All employees have some story to tell about product and how they first tried it or some funny story. They are The Original Grocery Store in the Cleveland area. Starting as a butcher shop at the early decades of the last century; the business has been family owned from the beginning all the way to the (I think) Grandsons that are running it now. The employees are often multigenerational as well.If you want to be cared about as a Customer, there is no better shopping experience than at a Heinens.
I love heinens salad bar. Always fresh with lots of options for years I would get a salad with a baget a one dollar little bread. Sourdough I think. Today they didnt have it. They had some lousy bread that looked like a cheap greasy spoon diner would serve. They are supposed to be top notch. When I looked for other options for bread they had none for a take out salad. I asked the bakery who said they switched companies. Needless to say Ill be looking for a better Salad for lunch experience.
Called ahead to ask butcher for availability of skirt steak. He said he had four but needed to prepare them for me. When I arrived they were packaged and ready to take away. Ken was friendly and absolutely of service. Went above an beyond for me and you cant find that type of service everywhere. I will never go to the Heinens in Chardon again after the experience I had there. Mentor is the same distance from me and 100 times better quality.
Locally-owned, quality grocer. You may save a few dollars by shopping at the chains, but whats the quality of the food youre feeding your family? We found that the difference between Giant Eagle and Heinens is less than the cost of all the produce weve thrown out when shopping at Giant Eagle. With Heinens, the quality of the produce ultimately makes it cheaper than shopping elsewhere - it lasts all week rather than the days weve experienced where Giant Eagle produce goes bad!
Once again, quite a few employees were very rude and seemed as though my presence annoyed them . I dont require much assistance so Im unsure why just me walking in the store warrants glares and whispers under their breath that they make sure that I can hear ? Was in an aisle obviously searching for an item with an employee that did everything, but put a force field up around him . He didnt even bother to

2022-07-05Prices are comparable to Giant Eagle, but I definitely shop here for the expertise from the staff at the fish and meat counters, the polite service from all of the staff, and their phenomenal freshness and variety from the produce department. Every customer feels like theyre a priority amongst the Heinens staff and every concern or question you may have is promptly addressed.
