It is so sad but black businesses are so unprofessional, inefficient, and terrible customer service. I ordered 2 meals through door dash and they were canceled. Called the store to see why, and they stated the oxtails will not be ready for 1.5 hrs. I said, that’s fine, I will wait, please re submit my order. The cook or whoever answered the phone stated it was fine and order can be placed. Called the store back after 1.5 hrs, then I was told it will take 2 hrs. Called back after 3 total hours and was told they can not fulfill the order at all. I was lied to, deceived, and mislead. I don’t care how good the food is but if the customer service don’t match the quality food, EPIC FAIL. I can’t tell you one black own business that has all these components. I will never order from this place again. Such a waste of time, money, and energy.
Ordered the meatloaf, greens and mac n cheese last night from the Maple location- my family all ordered different dishes and baybayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lemme tell you something, every one of us LOVED our food!! It was our first time ordering and we are going back for more tonight.
I prefer a Salisbury steak and got meatloaf they said it’s made the same way. Also the meat was very undercooked that I couldn’t eat it at all. The yams had wayyyyyy too much sugar. The macaroni had wayyyy too much pepper in it. They didn’t give us drinks they over charged us and I tried to make a complaint the young ladies who answered the phone clearly don’t know what customer service is and they didn’t want to refund me. And they also failed to mention when I ordered over the phone that it’s no card payments at that location only cash so I had to go to the gas station and come back to pay. I will not be spending my hard earned money at this restaurant anymore!!!!!!
Wait, how long has this place been around and Im just now finding out about them?! Stumbled across this place one evening; glad I did. Havent had enough time yet to try all the menu selections, but I havent been disappointed yet. Yams, greens, mac n cheese, Cornish hens, corn bread muffins, peach cobbler, all delicious! Be back again soon!

Great little take-out place that is convenient for me! I usually get the wing dinner or some kind of chicken entree and I would say that the fried chicken here is some of the best Ive had in the Cleveland area.The sides are solid too although sometimes the collard greens are a bit too salty and sometimes the mac and cheese is too soggy and could use more flavor. The consistency of the sides could use some improvement although Ive always enjoyed my meals regardless.This is basically a one man show so things dont move very quickly here especially if there are other orders. This is understandable though as the place is really small so Im not sure if one can work on multiple orders at once.Having said that, you get very friendly service here and I love their chicken!
Ive been there twice in a week. The southern fried catfish, greens and macaroni and cheese was good! I also got the 3 whole wing snack pack w/fries too. The spicy garlic sauce was perfect. The food is reasonably priced for the portion size. Go check them out! #TeeBoogieapproved
Chicken was tough and too salty. Black eye peas was dry with no flaver. Greens were too spicy and bland. Corn bread tasted too sweet and like 3 days old. Need to do better. There was no soul in this food.

The owner of this establishment is awesome! He’s kind, friendly and understanding and his food is to die for! He has no chefs whenever I order from his restaurant he’s doing all the cooking. You also have delivery as a choice, that’s a plus. His food, I have to say this... puts Zanzibar, Angie’s and Deon’s restaurant to SHAME. Def my new favorite soul food
The three stars is because my order was correct and the mac and cheese was edible. This was the first time that I ordered from Heights food and Grill and I ordered the fried tilapia french fries the chicken wing meal and peach cobbler for dessert I wanted to get a good idea of several of their meals and sides. Overall it was not the best because the greens with my chicken wing meal were from a can you can taste the difference between fresh greens and canned greens and those for sure were canned collard greens and over all the salt level was a little high as well maybe too much seasoning salt with actual salt it really would be so much better if that was brought down by several degrees. I think people that have NOT had authentic soul food would probably think thats what Heights serves but its not really misses the savoriness of authentic soul food I asked for the garlic sauce on the side but they put it on the chicken wings I couldnt even eat it because that just made the salt level just super Sky High I probably wouldnt order from them again to bad they have alot of potential.
The lady at the counter daid she was new, but she was on it pleasant, professional and courteous. The food was ok it appears yo ne the same as Angies Soul Food Cafes. Not sure if it is part of Angies but the menu is pretty much the same.
Went there twice food is fair to good depends on what you get, my first visit had 3 piece white chicken greens and candied yams, food was good chicken a little over cooked but some people like it that way,Next visit wasn’t so good, ordered pork chops, greens and Mac and cheese, the pork chops were severely over cooked,,, dried completely out , they were very thin chops already, this just destroyed the entire meal, the Mac and cheese wasn’t particularly special, they seem inconsistent, but the verdict is still out.
Sooo when I want good soul food, and dont want to wait for Thanksgiving or Sunday dinner, or when I just dont have time to do it myself, I have no problem turning over the reins to Heights Soul Food and Grill! Chef Bird and the lovely staff are a true establishment. To try to put adjectives to it would be putting their quality in a box! Above and beyond service, I will be back!
I make it a point to eat here often. Byrd goes above and beyond to have what you need. I have ordered take out atleast 15x from here and will make it a point to leave work early on Sundays to get here before they close. BEST MAC N CHZ i have ever had and the BBQ sauce is GREAT! If you are close...make sure you support this business!
My husband and I ordered food through door dash, it took almost two hours to get our food, when we did get it the chops were overcooked to the point where you couldnt chew them! They gave me the brunt edges for the mac &cheese, my green beans were extremely salty, what little I had.The fish my husband had was cold and overcooked as well!I try to support the businesses in my community but I wont be returning to the place 🤷♀️🤔
This was my first time there and I had western ribs with green beans and mac/cheese everything was excellent the cornbread muffin very buttery and sweet just the way I like it👌 very seasoned not salty.
Friendly staff and really good home cooking, the kind grandma makes. Short on table space, but well worth it even as take away with good prices. We keep returning, and the consistency is very respectable. Highly recommend.
Horrible! Rice was over cooked and sticky! Corn muffin burnt. My husband had hair on his perch dinner, which was hard as a brick. Never will we order there again. Just left five minutes ago! We are so angry we want throw our food away.I was given two oxtails in my snack , no muffin and rice impossible to eat. Oxtails where fair, not the worst I’ve had.This is our third time going. First two times where ok.
I CALLED IN MY ORDERS AND IT WAS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE OVER THE PHONE, ONCE THERE IT WAS GREAT HOSPITALITY. I SEEN A CHOCOLATE✊🏿 BEAUTIFUL COUPLE HAVING DINNER AND THEY WAS SMASHING THEY FOOD LOL. THE PORTION WAS GREAT SIDES AND WELL MAINTAINED ENVIRONMENT.
Charge you different price than on menu and says hey I dont make the prices. Not real soulfood. Trays of food left out and uncovered. Microwave mashed potatoes. Small portions big prices. Dont mind when its good food but its not.
We called to get clarification on the seafood salad ingredients before we ordered with skip the dishes. The person working there siad they didnt know what was in it. We ended up ordering anyway at 5:15pm and it took the restaurant 10 minutea to confirm and immediately say they needed more time. At 620 i reached out to skips customer service to see what was going on, finally got an answer saying my food was being packed uo and on the way at 6:30. at 6:36 i get another call from skip saying that the restaurant was out of pretty much half my order. It is now 6:44, im on hold with skip. Not sure where the breakdown is. but one would think a restaurant would know sooner than an hr and 15 after something was ordered that they didnt have it....maybe it is just me.
It was lovely. Home feeling, clean place and the Oxtails was so big and good.
No cornbread! Greens were salty (and I usually add salt to everything, but not those!) Not enough gravy on smothered porkchops. May go again because where else can I get soul food??
Tried it first time full menu, service ok food cooked to order so if not called in be prepared to wait, fish was over seasoned, sides of greens no flavor and mac & cheese average, trying to support the black owned business going try again then decide if Ill continue to go back..
I would have gave it five stars but it was no corn muffin in my box in the gravy on the smothered pork chops was a little bit too salty with all in that it was good the tilapia Grill was good

I went to get some food & all the restaurants on Lee Rd were full of customers but when I tried to order the door was locked & they were suppose to be open for business. The only black owned restaurant in that area was empty that says a lot to me, I will not be back sorry.....
They dont have hours posted, came twice after work during the week and then and lights are on but door is locked. On top of that the land line goes straight to busy signal every time.... GHETTO ! Just go grab a gyro from across the street

They changed their menu prices and put the new prices on a dry erase Board that didn’t have all of their food choices on there. And put our food in the microwave. Had no gloves on.

2022-07-29So I usually don’t leave reviews but maybe it will help someone. First off, they didn’t have anything I originally ordered, then called to tell me I had to change my order, no biggie. I ordered the smothered chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything tasted the same. The green beans were mad salty, gravy on the chicken salty. I also tried the Mac, I can’t even describe the taste, just don’t do it. The mashed potatoes and the corn muffin was the only okay part. Waste of money and still hungry 🤦🏽♀️ Husband also ordered. He couldn’t eat the black eyed peas or greens due to the enormous amount of salt.

2022-08-05Visited the Eastlake location and the only thing I can say is DONT DO IT! waited FOREVER for the food. Made a comment about how long it was taking and they said well everything is made fresh. OK are you kidding me.? You have short ribs, oxtails, black eyed peas, yams and etc on your menu but everything is made to order fresh and that is what took so long? yeah, ok and the food is awful. Extremely salty! The corn has an odd taste almost vinegary, the mac and cheese is indescribable and not in a good way and the salisbury steak was more salt than anything. No thank you! Definitely ONE AND DONE!

2021-05-20Outstanding food & service! Ive only done in person ordering so far vs. over the phone and the wait has not been bad at all. Yesterday was my 2nd time getting carry out (Maple Heights location). My son had raved about the food here so I made the trip a few weeks back to check them out and oh my goodness I could NOT wait to return again! I live about 35 minutes away but their food is so worth my gas, miles & time. Both times I ordered the same thing...wings, fries, mac & cheese, and greens...everything was SO DELISH! Wings are fried to perfection and the french fries have some sort of batter coating...Im a foodie and have never had fries like this...they are the BOMB! Last but not least...their sauce is unbelievably GOOD...it is addicting! Not sure why they are not selling it by the bottle as they would clean up on this alone...thats how good it is. I remembered to take a pic of my food on my recent trip before I devoured. Looking forward to my next trip to this gem!

2021-07-12Usually pretty good! I love the sauce. But today…….. the attitude of the cashier was very bad & my Mac was completely burnt on the top. Definitely won’t be back. The guy that is usually in the kitchen wasn’t there & the food showed that!

2021-09-04Everything was blah! The Mac and cheese was interesting to say the least. No flavor, watery, just nasty. The greens had too much vinegar in them. The ribs were ALL FAT!! I paid for extra sauce on my other meals and NO sauce. The chicken was over seasoned. It was like eating salt pork out the pack. They have a huge menu buy didnt have ANYTHING but a hand full of selections. Long story short. The people were nice but the food wasnt appealing to my taste buds. I wont eat here again. We ended up throwing it all away. None of us could eat it.
