Upon arrival, we were greeted by Shawna who welcomed us with a smile. She was extremely courteous and went out of her way to ensure we had a positive experience. From calling our room to see if it was satisfactory to offering a to go box for breakfast since we didnt have time to sit down and eat, she was always offering ways to make our stay more enjoyable. What a pleasure to meet such a wonderful person.
Loved living there. Staff is so nice and went above and beyond to make my stay better and even shipped out my winter jacket, which i accidentally forgot in the room before checking out.Rooms were nice and were cleaned frequently. They even accommodated the cleaning during our stay ( while we were not in the room) which wasnt required due to covid time.Tobby, Jacob( if i am remembering the names right) and every other employee all were amazing in their service and courtesy.Breakfast serving ladies were so amazing, they even talked to my toddler daughter while i quickly grabbed food. Always asked if i need extra anything to feed my daughter. Wow!! Just amazing.Would definitely advice to stay there. Id always stay there whenever i visit the area. :)
Okay. Nice big and clean room, decent breakfast with standard choices, nice employees both friendly and attentive are all the pluses of this Hampton Inn. The minuses are not too severe but they are these: pool was closed, the location is a little odd and really none of the features are outstanding or all that special. I think my favorite thing was the cookies 🍪 they made available in the afternoon.
This hotel definitely needs an update and a deep cleaning. The first room we checked into had beds that were rumpled and looked like someone had laid on them after the room was clean. The area around the tub/shower is need of repair. The hallways need a deep vacuum. The elevators need a deep clean. Definitely not what you would expect coming out of a pandemic. Definitely not up to typical Hampton Inn standards. On the plus side, customer service was great.
Hotel is very clean. Very nice. Staff was friendly upon entering. Good breakfast. Nice pool/hot tub. Called for extra towels, the night staff explain to us she was the only person in the entire hotel for the night and there was no clean laundry. She said when laundry was done she would give us a call and we could go get them at the front. She seemed very overwhelmed on the phone and after she mentioned she was the only person in the entire hotel, I didnt feel so safe anymore. The air conditioner wasnt working right. The room stayed cool but because it kept shutting off we could hear every noise in the hallway and didnt get any sleep.
The hotel is in a good location near restaurants and retail. I wasnt entirely happy with our room (drab looking and didnt FEEL clean) and its location in the hotel. However, the free breakfast was good and the person who checked us in was very friendly which we appreciated. I also was chosen as the guest of the day and had an option to pick a free snack and drink from the Bodega, which was a nice treat.
Nice space, friendly staff, and good location (relative to Ohio U). Rooms were clean, nice, and comfy. Breakfast food could have been better though. Selection was of normal free breakfast fare of cheese or western omelets (eggs were tough), turkey sausage (tasted bad), potatoes (bland bit cooked through), muffins (really good), 2 options for self-made waffles (original and pumpkin spice flavor - both good), along with cereals and bread/bagel.
Staff is very friendly but attention to detail was really lacking! First thing I noticed was the orange mildew film on the bathroom doorway and the unclean bathtub! Not that it’s large enough for adult use if you wanted to soak, you’d be lucky to cover your upper thighs. I was not lucky. There’s a constant draining sound from the drain so not only do you lose water to the overflow prevention but the actual drain as well! Stops when you keep your foot on the plug but thats uncomfortable. The sink itself is very large but the faucet is on the tiniest little corner they could get it in so when you wash your hands water spills all over the countertop which is impractical. Additionally there was also a stink bug infestation in the stairway to upper levels but we only took one pass to know we didn’t want to do that again. There’s also no courtesy fan in the bathroom so be forewarned if you’re sharing a room. The walls are paper thin so not only can you hear every sigh that happens in the bathroom but also every single sound.
Positive: The hotel was very clean, and stuff was friendly. The decor and the room and lobby furnishings was modern, and comfortable. Negative: We stayed in a double queen room. The mattresses were extra firm, and did not allow for good sleep for either of the nights that we stayed. Also the pool was out of commission, due to an insect infestation. This was quite disappointing
It was a very pleasant experience. For the price paid, the facilities such as the business center and fitness center were up to par. Unfortunately I was not able to use the pool. The staff are absolutely delightful and a pleasure to interact with. Would stay again, and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation that is not too pricey.
Only thing good about this hotel is the toiletries. and it was not clean. Beds were extremely uncomfortable and sheets lacy and itchy. I would never stay here again. Front desk was more interested in hanging outside with guests instead of helping people at desk. Customer service agent in the morning was dressed like a guest cowboy hat and all. When I made a comment about him wearing a cowboy hat and not realizing he was the customer service agent he informed me that he isn’t supposed to be wearing his hat. Shows disrespect for his management and his job. Room rate didn’t reflect value, never will i stay at your hotel again.
The floor in our entry and bath were sticky. I wiped it with a wet washcloth and it was black with dirt. I showed the front desk clerk-it was probably close to 9:30pm-she was shocked and said she would put a note in the folio. I said I was using their alcohol and my lysol wipes and cleaning all the surfaces in my room. She did not offer to send housekeeping to reclean, nor did they do so, as I left a spot on purpose to check later to see if anyone had come in. We were there 3 days. City was sold out or we would have left. There was dirt/makeup on the hairdryer I wiped down, too. Yuck. Covid times especially should be better than that, but, anytime???
Lady working the breakfast was very friendly and efficient; breakfast area was very clean and stocked well.Getting up the driveway was very challenging. We made it up with our snow setting for our front wheel drive SUV but there was a car that had slid 3/4 of the was down the driveway, sitting sideways across the driveway, when we first turned to go up it; due to snow and not having any salt or plowing.Walls were very thin - heard a lot of hallway noise and sounds from rooms over us and beside us.The toilet seat was tipsy, couldnt tighten; toilet tank ran more than it should. We did notify desk clerk at checkout. She was friendly and said she appreciated being told about bathroom issues.
This was my second stay here, I stayed here because the first time was great. There are closer hotels to where I am visiting but I had an amazing experience my first visit. This time, I had a dirty room. The bed looked like someone had slept in it. The toilet paper holder and towel hook were broken and spinning, the shower was dirty, there was a cobweb that spanned from the desk to the corner of the room. The staff was great.
Normally, Hampton Inn is my go to hotel. Although the employers were very polite, I was disappointed in this hotel. Loud guests throughout the night kept me up. The room was not cleaned properly. My main issue was hair on the floor and in the tub. Two plastic bags were on the side of the bed. One of the beds was messed up like someone was laying on it.
Great hotel. The rooms have been renovated and are very nice. The front desk staff was super kind and went out of her way to make us comfortable. We brought dinner from a local restaurant and she offered us water to have with our meal. The breakfast staff was also very friendly and complimentary.
Comfortable stay. They have the sanitizing down to a science. Pool is limited to 10 for a 2-hr block of time, just right. Breakfast suffers, though, with all the restrictions. Itll be much better when we can go back to fixing/selecting a bigger choice ourselves. Still its better than we expected with all the covid policies in place.
They room was nice . stay was nice unroll the last night went swimming my sister left her shoes. Even though the worker was the next in there her shoes never made it to lost and found. So makes me feel like she stole them I had to buy her a new pair and really couldnt afford to.and when I talked to the manager all she said was sorry and the worker is still there
The pool was closed due to millipede infestation for all of our stay. We were instructed to leave dirty towels and trash in the hall as no room service was provided. We had to go to front desk to ask for clean linens/ towels. One day for breakfast the only protein choice was egg.
Doing a good job trying to protect guests from Covid. Sterilize and seal rooms. Breakfast is a set menu for now and simple and single serve but still good. Pool time is scheduled to limit number of people at one time. Jo helped us check in and was very friendly and informative. Very impressed. Will stay again with or without covid.
This was the first time I had stayed at this hotel because I normally stay at the OU Inn when I visit Athens. It was nice to have the option of breakfast in the morning. The hotel room was spacious and clean. The staff at the front desk was friendly. I enjoyed being able to walk to the farmers market on Saturday. Overall the experience was great.
When we arrived front desk was very friendly and helpful we had a couple small things with our room front desk told housekeeping and our housekeeper Erica was amazing very friendly she went above and beyond for us brought some travel books back to our room took her time to talk with us about activities to do in the area was very grateful for her couldnt thank her enough :) ohhhh and let.me mention breakfast was amazing the ladies did a wonderful job love love love our stay :) A+++++ to this hotel
Hotel is in the middle of a much needed remodel as room was showing a lot of wear. Bathroom was wore and room had a small smell. Coffee pot was missing parts so wasnt able to use and keycard to room had to be reset as it wasnt working. Staff was friendly and hotel was clean but wore. The main road not owned by them is full of potholes so be ready for a rough ride. Hotel has a small store with food for sale but desk. A office center fitness room and has breakfast in the morning. Update 4/20/2019 The main road to here has been repaved. The rooms have been remodel and things are looking good here.
Korey and Ky provided us with the best customer service i’ve ever experienced at a hotel. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, pool and hot tub were also clean! The continental breakfast was 5 star as well. We were really pleased with our stay, will be choosing a Hampton Inn in the future
Hotel rooms are quite nice, and the only staff person I spoke to was pleasant. But we requested 3 rooms including an accessible room. We did not get the rooms we expected, probably because the website is not great. And the rooms could not be separated more if we wanted, which we did not. Parking is a problem as well. So overall a disappointment.
As everyone was saying clean room, lobby and parking lot in front. Loved the breakfast choices. Now for some improvements needed. The one thing I am alone on in this rating section is the smell of mildew in the bathroom. It is always the shower curtain. Are they cleaned regularly and how often do they change them. They could wash them regularly too. Then comes the pool. My daughter in law saw long hair floating in it. There was a Bobby pin at the bottom and needed to be tended to. I was glad they made the pool separate from the hotel because it didnt permeate the hallways. Lastly, the back parking lot was littered with garbage and rocks had come out if the meridians. Maybe sending an employee back there regularly would also be nice.Otherwise I would recommend this hotel despite the negatives.
We came down here for Hocking College graduation and was not disappointed! The hotel room was very clean and smelled fresh. The bathroom was large. This may be one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The front desk woman was very nice and even let us check in a bit early. Breakfast was hot, delicious, and was fully stocked even closer to the closing time. Check out was a breeze. Also, the restaurant at the bottom of the hill was fantastic too. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Athens!
I booked my reservation in the wrong town (Athens). It wasnt until I arrived that I realized my error. The hotel manager called and made reservations for me in the correct town. She waived the late cancellation fee. This is customer service as it should be.Many thanks to the Hampton Inn in Athens!
This is a very beautiful hotel with spectacular views of the Hocking Hills. The staff is wonderful, especially Chazz, who goes out of his way to make your stay a fabulous one. The swimming pool is really fun and the hot tub is amazing! The beds are very very comfortable. The cleaning staff does a great job keeping the rooms nice, clean, and comfortable. My only complaint would be that the breakfast is not very good AT ALL. Other than that, very nice hotel. My go to spot when Im in Athens.
Only stayed one night at this property, but enjoyed the extended hours of the pool. They had fresh baked Otis Spunkmeyer cookies which were delightful. Breakfast was nice and up to date with Hamptons standards. Just one complaint: We requested a late check out, but housekeeping tried to enter anyway. I would reccomend this hotel for anyone staying in the area.
I am a repeat customer of this hotel. Once again, the staff was very helpful. Room was great - plenty of electrical outlets, and the TV and Internet service worked well. Breakfast was free: no frills, but quite good. Its an easy walk/short drive to nearby restaurants and shopping.
GREAT location to stay at to hit up the nearby Baileys Trail System! Recommend booking one of the two queen suites if youre planning on riding at Baileys as there is PLENTY of room for 4 bikes and 4 people in one of these rooms. I will say, if Baileys takes off like Moab trails theyll likely have to put in a bike storage room like they do out there! Breakfast was solid and fast (and felt pretty safe with all the COVID precautions). Recommend this place for sure!
Hampton Inn by Hilton in Athens Ohio has the worst customer service. While denying me service for not complying to wear a mask, 2 guests walk in without masks. I step outside to cancel my reservation with Priceline and 2 guests outside told me they didn’t wear their masks inside either. I walk back inside to let them know of my medical condition and I can not wear one. The rude woman asks if I wanted to see her manager. Meanwhile the maintenance guy is lying to me saying it’s a law in Ohio. General Manager Lindsay Barnett comes storming out of the door, yells at me to leave. She is steaming mad as I ask for a refund. Slams her card on the desk and tells me to leave. It’s a good think Priceline refunded my money. Horrible customer service. Very aggressive. Meanwhile people are swimming in the pool. Way to goHilton just lost my business. I’d hate to work under this manager!
Clean and modern. Nice breakfast: waffles from a waffle iron, some pastries, fresh fruit, a variety of yogurts, eggs (hard boiled and scrambled), cheese, bacon one morning and sausage gravy the next. One of our overhead lights burnt out overnight and they were prompt about fixing it when we called. We did run out of toilet paper, which was disappointing. We always had plenty of towels without having to call for more (most hotels we have to call for more towels because we have 4 ppl staying in the room, but there are only 3 towels). The tap water here is disgusting! And Im not usually picky. Its probably just the area, so be sure to bring your own bottled water. There is always coffee in the lobby and also hot water and tea bags. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the ice machine didnt work.
If the ice machine on our floor were working, it would be 5 stars, but Reno has to happen some time. Comfortable, clean and friendly, spacious bath, walk-in shower big enough for 4. Would recommend to a friend, and you can glimpse deer on the hillside out back. I’m sure we will be back..
We stayed in this hotel on Saturday August 1st ....the staff was nice and very helpful. They allowed us to check in early before 3:00 and that was appreciated. We wonder now in hindsight if that was the best thing to do. There was gum stuck to the floor or (something that looked like gum) in front of the couch and the bathroom wasnt very clean. The bathtub didnt drain well and you could see mold or dirt whatever it was in he corners of the tub and on some tile and around the metal bar in the shower. That comes from not being cleaned correctly in awhile not just that one time. I wiped some of it off to see if it would come and it did. Other than that it wasnt a bad stay . For the staff alone I would recommend it
Very rude staff and not Biker friendly. Very rainy weather and would not allow my wife and I too park underneath the canopyNo other Hampton has ever not allowed us to park there. Im a Hilton Gold member and Im very upset.I had just checked and was told that the manager wanted us to move. I asked to talk too her and was told she had left for the day.I will never stay here again and will not recommend this hotel too anyone in our group of 300 members.
My stay was very short here as I got in around 0200, but it appears to be one of the more modern Hampton Inns. Front desk staff were very friendly, and room was clean. Hotel is nicely situated on a hill, so it looks out over the outskirts of Athens. One nice thing about being in a College town, there are a dozen places that deliver well into the early morning
Place was clean and rooms were good.not a bad price for a Hampton Inn. Ladies behind the desk did a great job and answered the questions about food for the night. Avoid the bar in Shades at all cost unless you are or have a locale. I would even suggest going to Texas Roadhouse before Shades.
This hotel ruined our weekend. Upon arrival, we changed into our bathing suits to use the pool. The pool was fine except there were ants crawling all around it.Afterwards, we went back into the room to use the jacuzzi tub. It was dirty, and there were a couple of lady bugs crawling around. I called the front desk. They said there were no other jacuzzi rooms available, there was no one to clean it for us, and they offered to drop off cleaning supplies. In exchange for us to clean our own room, they offered to refund our room stay. Later that night, we pulled out the sofa bed for our 3 year old to sleep in and saw mouse poop on the bed and someone elses clothes beneath it. So, our son shared the bed with us. I woke up a couple hours later scratching my arms and neck. I checked in the bathroom mirror to find big welts on my skin. I woke up my wife to show her. We searched the bed and found bed bugs. I put it in a Ziplock bag to show the front desk. They didnt seem too concerned. However, they did offer to switch our rooms, Hilton honors points, or a voucher for a free stay. I declined all and said we were leaving, and I wanted a refund. They said it would take 7-10 days since I pre-paid. I asked for trash bags for all of our things so I could seal them up. After I came back up our room, my wife had woken our 3 year old and found more bed bugs and ants. We sealed everything in trash bags, packed the car, and left around 11:00pm for our three hour drive home.
Besides the usual excellent service and accommodations, the staff at this Hampton Inn were incredibly accommodating when my son came down with a stomach bug. I asked for a late checkout because he was still sleeping. At the time, I wasnt sure if I could continue my cross country drive with him. We might have needed to extend our stay. The staff was as helpful as I could imagine. They granted the extension and then some. As we left, the manager and clerk both wished us fair travels and joined us in relief that our trip could continue. To elaborate a little, their breakfast is delicious (not the usual continental breakfast). They had a few real gems that made it excellent. There was greek yogurt and regular yogurt. They had american fries and bagel toppers which were half bagels with cheese and eggs on top (apparently freshly cooked too!) There was fresh fruit in addition to all the usuals-- waffles, cereal, oatmeal and juice. The room was very clean an comfortable. There is a pool (apparently very nice though I didnt use it) and an exercise room. All around a surprisingly good experience despite the bad circumstances.Cross posted on Yelp and Google.
Great breakfast...ok parking, rooms are up to date (except TV service)....However, my TV DID NOT work the entire night/day , and I left my tablet charger in my room and as of today (5 days later) no one has called me back and Ive called 4 times and spoke with several unprofessional ladies, with the exception of Chase, who expressed interest and hopefully will get my property back.I Will NOT be returning
Bailed almost immediately. Planned to stay for 8 days, only stayed 1 night. TV didnt work properly but I had roku so I could watch something, but had to stream it over my phone and chromecast it because the internet so bad it kept setting of my security settings and no devices would allow me to connect because the security certs. were so bad! TV busted, Internet was terrible and the place is in dire need of a remodel (which is apparently happening this winter??). Maybe try it after the remodel in late 2018 but its a total S**t show today...
My husband and I were looking for a hotel that supplied cribs because we have an infant daughter. We chose this one because it advertised that it provided baby cribs. Once we got to the hotel and checked in, we were told that they did not have cribs; despite the advertisement on their site and in the pamphlet in the hotel room stating they did. As an attempt to accommodate us, we were given a disgusting packnplay that was too low for our daughter to sleep in. My husband ended up going to walmart and buying a bassinet. My family and I will never stay at Hampton Inn ever again and I would not recommend it to anyone who has an infant child/children. You would be better off staying somewhere else.
My family loves staying at Hampton Inns. Hot breakfast and complimentary Wi-Fi is included for all guests. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The employee managing breakfast made a custom smores treat for a toddler as a special, surprise treat. There is always hot coffee and water available in the lobby for all guests. Also, before heading out for our day in Athens, the staff provided snacks sacks for us: an apple, breakfast bar, muffin snack, and bottle of water. The snack sack came in handy later that morning as our energy was waning. I enthusiastically recommend this Hampton Inn.
I stayed Athens for a work trip in Wellston, OH. I have stayed at the Quality Inn in Jackson, OH in the past because it is closer to Wellston, but even though Athens is 40mins to Wellston vs the 10mins from Jackson, I think it is worth staying in Athens for the increase in quality and food options. This hotel was a great place to stay and I enjoyed their indoor pool and hot tub. It is very close to a good selection of places to eat and/or grab a drink. I definitely plan on staying here again in the future.

2022-06-06We moved from Athens year and a half ago so we are back to visit family and friends. This was recommended by another relative who has stayed here, he said so much better then the Holiday Inn here in town.Check in was very fast and the young lady who checked us in was very sweet. Found out another lady behind the counter was a distant relative of my husbands. Room are quite and beds are very comfortable. We will always use Hampton Inns here and other locations as we travel.

2022-04-05Positive: Location near OU. Plenty of parking. Fresh fruit provided in lobby. Hand sanitizers at elevator. Carpets clean. Beds comfortable. Negative: Bathroom sink didn¿t drain, shower water pressure was low, the bathroom sink was not clean, the previous persons soap bar and dirty soap dish was still there. Pillows were just okay.

2022-05-09Shawna was so warm and welcoming! From the moment I arrived I felt valued and she was extremely courteous! She was so genuine and was professional. She was engaging and you really have a great team. Breakfast workers were also very kind. The housekeeping team. Top notch! Even the man who was mopping. He mopped half of the floor so you could walk in and out on dry floor and then did the other half. But Shawna- she stole the show! You got lucky with so wonderful people!

2022-03-04We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was clean, reception was helpful and professional, and the breakfast was a great start of the day with plenty of fresh coffee. While we didnt need them I noticed some bagged breakfast food for the folks in a hurry to go. Nice touch-

2022-05-05Positive: The hotel is clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Negative: I slept fine but my husband said he was kept awake by someone coughing all night. So wall may be too thin if you are a light sleeper.

2022-05-26I love this place.Ive stayed at quite a few hotels, Ive always just figured being unpleasant was typical of hotel staff, but the folks here have been nothing but awesome. Ive spent about 2 weeks in total here and not only is it clean and comfortable (the only time I have willingly used hotel blankets and not felt icky afterwards) but everyone I have spoken to is pleasant, friendly, and considerate. Comfortable and clean beds, a wonderfully chilly AC that doesnt freeze up, good wifi - basically, if I owned a hotel I would absolutely want it to be like this one.I have a cat with me everywhere I go, hes scared of strangers so hotel houskeepers stress him out - but the woman who came to clean the room here was very understanding and careful not to startle him when I mentioned it and it was a lot easier on him. People being understanding about something thing like that is incredibly meaningful to me, its not something people HAVE to do but its done anyways just because theyre decent people. So I definitely like the people who work here, they really do deserve some recognition. So if I need a hotel in Athens in the future, this is absolutely my first choice.

2022-04-06First of all, the staff was very friendly and understanding during both my stays. But other guests were unfortunately loud and disrespectful. There were many large parties yelling in the halls, running in the halls, and slamming doors until past midnight. And there was a leash-less dog that tried to run into our room. I am allergic to dog saliva, and this was a horrible experience for me and my father. I let the staff member at the desk know, but theres not too much staff can do about these things after the fact.Athens is the halfway point of the 800 mile drive to my folks, and we have always stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at this exit. Based on reviews, we decided to try Hampton Inn for once. Never again. The halls were dirty and the rooms looked like they had a bad makeover: poor paint job, torn blinds, cheap Ikea-like furniture, stains on the bedding, stains on the chairs, scratchy towels, lady bugs in the room, poorly designed bathrooms with oddly placed faucet that sprayed water everywhere and no place to hang a hand towel for easy access. Its on a busy street, but unlike the HIE, theres nothing in walking distance. The only restaurant nearby is a college bar that even a hotel staff member didnt highly recommend. If you need food, you will have to drive out, and its a busy entrance. There are lots of options about a mile down the street though.Thank you to the kind staff who listened to our concerns, but I will never stay at this location again.

2022-05-10The staff here were all friendly. Each one at the front desk made sure to greet you coming or going into the hotel. The hotel lobby was clean. The room has a microwave and refrigerator. There is also an indoor pool, hot tub, business center, fitness center, and breakfast. I would have liked some bacon and cheese grits. Lol! The items for breakfast they offer are very good choices and a great variety. This hotel is near alot of restaurants. Wal mart and kroger are not far in walking or driving distance. I enjoyed my stay at this location.

2022-06-28Stayed here for a wedding in Athens. The location was perfect for our needs. The hotel staff is very pleasant
