Giant Eagle Supermarket in other cities:
Took mom shopping today and was really disappointed. There were 2 ladies working deli~1 asked our order. There was a gentleman ahead w/large order another clerk was handling. Instead of #1 cutting my order(1/2#ck breast) she went onto start cleaning counters. After more than 5min w/o another word from her mom and I walked off. Our check out cashier who was off at 8pm finished ringing Moms items and ran off to time clock after payment. It was 8:03pm. I try to review positively CHECK MY OTHERS~ BUT WHEN GOOGLE PROMPTED THIS ONE- Ive got to be honest. Lastly~ one of the male employees threw a glare at our cart as if we had stolen something. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE KINDNESS AT THIS LOCATION FOR TODAY. 3stars for beautiful produce on sale!
Its an interesting store. We shop here occasionally when visiting relatives here. If you are from other parts of the country with regular grocery stores you will be disappointed. The store is much smaller than a conventional grocery store and feels more like a large drug store with an odd liquor store attached to it. Their prices are higher than a grocery store putting it more like a big convenience store. They have very little in the way of a meat department with sad thin odd cuts of steaks. Not sure if its just this store but I have found that all stores here are small and have little selection of meat. Stores here have the largest selection of prepped meals and a massive selection of frozen meals and pizzas the likes of which God has never seen. This store like others in the area cater to those that do not cook.
This used to be the most convenient place to shop for me. But ever since meijers went up I end up going there instead. The prices are better, theres better sales, and theres more floor space so I am not constantly tripping over people like I am at giant eagle. Not to mention the quality of giant eagle itself is dropping.I went there today and there was disgusting moldy water dripping from the ceiling all over the candy section. I know its been dripping for a while because there is LITERAL BLACK MOLD growing on the ceiling panel. Absolutely disgusting. I feel bad for the employees having to breathe that in not to mention all the product wasted - yall better throw all that candy away after that nasty water was dripping on it. And me.
Never had any problems as a customer and worked here for a few months earlier this year, great atmosphere. But they do put you to the grindstone. Will say both Daves in the deli are great people, no better way to keep people coming back than by being yourself and genuine! Pam is a very sweet lady and does a great job running the day to day operations of the store. Lynn also seemed very kind, although some employees were not too fond of her, but as the store manager she needs to be a little tougher on them/us so I can understand the hierarchy divide that they seem to have. All in all great establishment, long live the big bird!
I just got my wisdom teeth taken out, and got the prescriptions for the pain meds and anti infection wash. I expected to have to wait for them to be filled til tomorrow, but the great people here said theyd rush it as much as possible! Amazing customer service, and just great people! Keep these folks corporate, they do your brand proud!
The customer service is great except for the seafood department. The wait time is 8-10+ minutes most of the time, and usually I’m the only one in line. An elderly female saw me and another female waiting to be helped 2 weeks ago, and she told us that she gave up on purchasing seafood at this location because of the seafood clerks‘ attitudes, that they don’t want to help or acknowledge customers. Today I waited about 10 minutes as the clerk made eye contact with me several times. She eventually approaches the counter and ask “do you need something”. I guess she thought I was just standing at the counter admiring the skillfully filleted pieces of fish.
Ive been going to this Giant Eagle since I was a small child. Not much has changed in twenty years, but that isnt a bad thing at all. Layout and merchandise hasnt really moved much, making my stop quick and easy. Customer service was extremely helpful with replacing a membership card I had stolen from my wallet during a recent hospital visit. There is a good reason I still frequent this location after all these years... and it is friendly courteous staff.
Normally buy most groceries at Sams club, but I use this store for small or quick item needs. Bought some produce for the coming Thanksgiving meal and a small turkey as it will be just me wife and I. Also picked up other staples for our holiday meal. Store is clean and was well stocked since the holiday is only a couple of days away.
Lovely store. Great cashiers- all very friendly. Store is very well organized. The frozen dept. is so well put together. Very nice gentleman helped me find Pierres ice cream. Dont know his name- tall, dark hair, dark eyes, handsome, name is something with a J. 10/10 store.
I go here for things I cant get at other grocery stores. The prices are extremely high. A cart full here compared to Marcs or Aldis is $400-500 when its hard to get over $300 at the other places. Last time I was there a worker yelled HEY YOU NEED TO PAY FOR THAT as I walked out... after I paid. They do have an extremely large variety so I will give them 3 stars.
The staff can be extremely nice and helpful, or SEAMINGLY really rude. It goes from people asking me if I need help and leading me to what I need, to me feeling ignored and dismissed and sometimes not even looked at after greating certain employees, I recommend going early in the morning because Ive never had anything but pleasant experiences with the morning crew and you avoid the lines. I also strongly recommend checking the fresh produce before you buy it or skipping over it all together.
Worst produce (fruit) in town. Seriously... NOTHING is ripe. When I shopped here (for many, many years) I would end up throwing away as much as I ate, even in season. And yes, I know how to select fruit and how to ripen fruit. Most of the selection here is beyond saving. Even the apples are awful... flavorless. And half are bruised... I suspect the stockboys load the shelves by hurling apples across the store into the bins.Add that to the much higher prices than competing stores, and theres really no reason to go here. The employees are super friendly and helpful, though. So there is that.
I love seafood. I have purchased seafood at this GE twice now, and both times I brought it home to prepare it, it smelled funny and I couldnt eat it. It went bad within 24 hours. It smelled up my whole house. That is very nasty and not to mention unsafe. I wont be buying seafood there anymore. The managment needs to be aware of this. Giant Eagle is not a cheap place to shop. I am thinking of calling the health department. The manager Laura at MOL is a rude lady.
I honestly can not rate this store at this time as I did not go in. I waited in the car while my friend shopped. I will say it was disappointing though because as I was sitting in the car another car rear-ended my friends car knocking me off balance from my seat. I got out of the car and the person took off squealing their tires and left the scene of the crime. Real nice person. 😠😡 I was able to obtain his license plate number but I doubt there is much I can do.
I love giant eagle and their district market brand very good stuff. Their health and beauty isle is amazing too. The only thing that kinda sucks is their prices. Fuel perks seem cool but think about it, u get 10 cents off every $50 so u spend a $100 fill up ur tank lets say 20gal thats 20cents times 20 gallons $4 off. Thats IF u are on E with a 20gal tank. So that is 4% savings. Its something but not much. A gimmick if u ask me
This place was better 10 years ago. Prices can be a bit high compared to nearby Marcs, but selection is not all that much better except for fresh produce. Selection was much better 10 years ago for meats and fish, but now they seem to focus on atmosphere and premade foods rather than selection of things to actually take home and cook.
The pharmacy staff are always so quick and nice. I changed over from CVS on lakeshore and its like night and day. CVS pharmacy was always out of my medication even when they knew it was a monthly fill and rude about it. Giant eagle has always had my medication and fill it within a few minutes. Make the change to giant eagle mentor on the lake and experience how great they treat you.
Giant Eagle is not a fun place to be when you want to go grocery shopping. Most of the time people are not nice, they are rude, and snobby. The prices are ridiculously higher than they should be, for example if you wanted to buy a box of cereal, it would cost a lot more than if you went to Target and bought the same box of cereal.

2022-04-08No major issues at this location. However I wanted to suggest with the donation request they give out free items that periodically change. They also provided t-shirts for staff if they donated five dollars or more. It would be great to see them give out reusable grocery bags when donating. We would be helping two causes instead of one.

2022-05-28I’ve been shopping here for years. Have ordered hot catering for years for many family functions. I was told they could not make 2 pans of fried chicken for a retirement party. It was two days out and the lady working was quite rude and unwilling. She said she had several orders and was too busy. I’ve never had anyone refuse. Will take my business else where as this giant eagle seems to be forgetting what customer service is.

2022-02-06This particular Giant eagle is well run the staff is very friendly and helpful. And I really cant say enough about the bakery who had my order ready long before they said it was going to be which I appreciated. And the lady that decorates the cakes does a phenomenal job.

2022-02-19I love this store because its USUALLY stocked and most of the staff is friendly.... but the bathrooms are always gross. Always. They need to bleach and scrub from the ceiling to the floor. It just makes you wonder what the rest of the store looks like in the back 🤷♀️
