Giant Eagle Supermarket in other cities:
Always long checkout lines, never enough people staffing the checkouts. This forces you to use the self checkouts, but the self checkouts are always slow, and usually have problems which then make you wait for staff to come help you, which always takes forever.Deli counter has also been closed during regular hours due to lack of staffing.
I used to think this store was great, however lately Ive had nothing but issues every time I placey pickup orders. They tell me they are out of things, but then I go in to check there will be a whole shelf of what I asked for. They have taken my fuelperks off without me choosing that option at checkout, and lately they are out of everything. I think I will be switching to Heinens for the foreseeable future.
9:02 pm on 6/2/22, I was rudely told by several store employees that I needed to leave. That the store was “closed”. Will be calling the store manager, who I was told was Bill, in the morning. Really bad experience and will not purchase groceries from this store again!
I have been doing curbside at Giant Eagle since the beginning of COVID-19. I initially went to a Giant Eagle a little closer to my home, but the service was so poor that I stopped using Giant Eagle at all until I used the location in Broadview Heights. The service is excellent! Great communication and friendly staff. There is literally no wait when you use the app.
BEWARE of the Deli trays!Dont order the mini croissant salad sandwiches... There was virtually NO egg, chicken or tuna on the sandwiches. Just a very small piece of lettuce - thats it! dissatisfied. After calling the store to report the embarrassing salad trays (I served to guests) the girl in the deli said they know there is virtually no salad on the croissants, she blamed it on corporate and their recipe. No apology, no offer of money back. Just well let corporate know. The only reason this is not a one star review is because the two other trays I ordered (mini meat croissant and mini meat pretzel sandwiches) were acceptable, not great, but acceptable.Next time I will spend a few extra dollars and order from Heinens.
Truth be told, I didnt go in expecting to spend a lot, my first mistake... I checked out the clearance: alcohol and soap. Nothing there I wanted... I couldnt find any meat less that 4$ per pound (raw that is, not bologna)... My wife was looking for string cheese singles, nope... Used to carry them, not any more. Call it the classy neighborhood or the quality selection, only thing I can say positive about this place is that it was clean. And the 15 year old stocking the shelves was masked up... But the 40 year old guy coming out of the back room was wearing his around his chin... So that... Yeah...
Customer service has gone downhill faster than the approval rating of congress. Cashiers are no longer friendly and appreciative, in fact my last visit here a couple weeks ago the cashier didn’t greet me nor thanked me for my business and seemed very very annoyed. At least the store had what I needed to buy though it makes me uncomfortable when employees can’t even ACT like they care.
The curbside pickup service is great.Yesterday Frederick was my shopper and he texted me several times while shopping to ask about additions and substitutions. When he found out that I was disappoited that they didnt have daylilies, he asked someone when theyd have more in and they said Sunday, but if I wanted to make sure call ahead and ask if they were in. He went way above and beyond! Thank you Frederick!
Only been in the store once, and it was fine. Sadly, my curbside pickup for this last visit was problematic. The order was ready but they were too busy to bring it out during my time slot. Many items were not available; when I tried repeatedly to redeem a coupon, I met with issues. Then, the when the woman brought my order out to the car she noticed one of my eggs was broken. Not my best experience. I have had many successful curbside pickups at other Giant Eagles. I do not plan on using the Broadview Hts curbside pick up again.
Unfortunately I feel like the service has suffered of late. Although I feel bad for the checkout attendants that they must maintain a customer connection while being masked, I have been chastised for improper mask wearing the past two times I have been in the store by these attendants. Neither one of them asked me my name, or if I found everything or if they could help me in any way. If this is part of their training, then I take issue with that aspect of the training. I feel that despite the masks, attendants should be trained in proper customer service that includes eye contact, helpfulness and a positive attitude.
Overall the store is not bad but the new use of reusable bags is. I am okay with bringing my reusable bags and even okay helping the clerk bag the groceries. However, dont just throw all of my stuff on the other side and then start with the next customer before I am even finished bagging the items. Totally unacceptable. Next time I will just sit there and let you do everything.
Best Giant Eagle around but they are still charging high prices and their ridiculous No Refund policy is a joke. I find it despicable that they would take advantage of the pandemic to refuse refunds on inferior products. They were open during the entire shut down and figured a way to increase profits.
This is a GIANT Giant Eagle! Because it is soooooo large, the product selection is excellent. It has a Starbucks near the front of the store, and it has a state liquor store in the building! It has everthing youd expect to see at a grocery store and then some! It even has a play room for little ones and is open 24/7. Oh! And a Huntington branch inside. Literally the only downside is that it is located in Brecksville/Broadview Heights. At least it is off a major highway!Updating in 2021 - not much has changed. Still huge, still has the Starbucks and state liquor store, still in Broadview Heights. The selection is still great! Maybe the most important updates are: I forgot to mention that there is a getgo right next to it, which is awesome, and there is a LOT more development around it, improving the overall convenience of shopping here. Finally, due to COVID they have a great curb-side pickup for those who prefer to shop online in advance and have their groceries loaded into their car at a pre-scheduled time free of charge...which should be, like, everyone!
This place is always great. My husband and I grew up around here & moved a few years back. Every time we come here, I always mention how I miss having a GE near us. I think they have the best Fired chicken out of any other grocery store Ive been to. Their sushi is REALLY great too. Along with their other premade items. There selection is hard to beat.
This Giant Eagle, as with all other Giant Eagles, is fantastic. The stores are clean and the staff are friendly. Probably my biggest complaint would be that the layout of the store is optimized to make the store more money, which makes actual shopping a bit harder. Prices are a bit more expensive than other places, but the convenience of Curbside Express and Curbside Express Delivery make this an acceptable cost increase. Ive been a long time customer, and will continue to be.
I love this location! Today specifically I love it because the bakery associate was awesome and friendly. Tomorrow is my kids bday and we let him pick his cake. She made ordering very easy, and the kiddo felt very welcome. He left happily thanks to the mini cupcake gift. Thank you!
Ive visited this location several times for groceries and overall, that aspect of the store it just fine. But today, while in a pinch for lunch, I decided to visit their café/salad bar area. I went with a fresh salad, or what I thought would be fresh. The quality of some of the veggies on the bar were not what I expected. So with slim pickings on what to choose I prepared a salad, then continued to walk around looking for the silverware. I didnt want to bother the Starbucks employee or the employee she was just chatting with so I left after paying for my salad at the checkout on my own. Upon my arrival to my office I go to dig in and wouldnt you know it, what looked like fresh produce was just as old tasting as all of the items I passed up on the bar that looked old! Sorry, but definitely will not return for the salad bar ever again.
Store was a little busy but over all not bad when i went they were restocking the shelves few things they were low on but were working on it check outs anymore at this time of night 10 pm are real slow that is one thing i see takes to check out longer then it did to go threw the store one casher an then there self check outs not all people know how to use.So choose your time carefully.
FYI - per Brian, the manager of this location, there are NO SECURITY CAMERAS on the parking lot or exterior of the store. As a woman who frequently shops alone with young children, I have serious safety concerns after discovering this. What if (God forbid) an assault or accident occurs? How can the store ensure its customers are safe on the premises without any surveillance? I’ll be shopping elsewhere from now on.
This store has good inventory BUT, and this is a big BUT, customer service SUCKS!!!Yesterday, after asking twice for one balloon to be blown up & waiting 10 min each time, I ended up not getting it because I ran out of time. And I went up to customer service desk & let them know I was leaving because of the time frame.Today, the customer in front of me at the register didnt get a sale price on something. The clerk couldnt figure out what to do so called for help.... well, customer service help arrived but after both of them looking at the computer & then pulling out the sales flyer & looking back to the flyer & the computer several times, they FINALLY figured out what to do.... but it took forever... I wish my cart full of groceries werent already on the counter or I would have moved to a different line. So I waited & waited while other lines are clearing out & the 2 employees were trying to figure out what to do....Maybe the managers could improve customer service by getting their customers through the lines quicker... perhaps when a time consuming problem like this occurs they could take care of it at the customer service counter instead of having the people in line wait WAY longer than they should. I literally stood there w/ all my groceries on the counter for 15 minutes... I will not be going back to this store. These type of things have happened before but this takes the cake...Ive lost my patience w/ you people.Giant Eagle- learn from Heinens & hire the right people. This would never happen there.
Good selection on odd items I cant often find, from single packet hot chocolate to my favourite beer, Dragons Milk. However it is an extremely loud place, theres a constant level of noise that you dont really see in other Supermarkets. Ranging from metal on metal clanking, to refrigeration machinery sounding near broken with its volume levels.
Only 3 miles from my house. Many items out of stock. For those of us who cannot drink caffine due to health issues they rarely have caffine free diet Pepsi in stock. Other types of Pepsi all over the place When it is on sale such as buy 3 get one free they may have 2 six packs on the shelves. No one around to ask if there is more in the back. Various meat on sale when you get there none of the sale items available.Management could care less. Seems they have no concept on how to manage a store. Store is open 24 hours a day, however nothing is stocked/restocked until at least 9am. Total waste of time.Use to shop there 3 to 4 times a week. Never less than $75.00 many times over $200.00. Never again going to Acme on Pleasant Valley and Broadview will never go back.
I give Giant Eagle 4 stars because I shop here regularly and the produce is as fresh as you can expect. I do think their prices are a bit high however they have weekly sales and if you sign up for a giant eagle card you can get some extra savings. Other than that they are on the same level as ACME.
Thieves. Paid for groceries but the clerk didnt put the grocery bag containing 2 potatoes, cucumber, and bananas in the cart. Went back two days later when we were next in the vicinity and were told that there was nothing they could do. Oh really? Thats stealing, folks, plain and simple. Big corporate greed. Go to a smaller local store who cares about customers.
Ordered a cake went to pick it up and it was ugly pretty bad when the empyees agreed with me, stated new cake decorator, I think she needs to move on. This was a sheet cake for a retirement on Monday. Was picking up today and dropping off at work, now I have to stop Monday morning at 7am, when I should be at work to pick up another cake, not happy.I order all my cakes there and never have I been disappoined and now I am very inconvenienced .☹
I asked for help to pack n the lady at the curtsey desk said Ill get some one I walk with a cane and the lady in the next lane and started helping I thanked her n asked do you work her no a customer I spent over 300.00 n no one ever came from the store to help thanks for nothing
The butchers, the bakers, and the sushi makers are really nice. However, I am sooooo annoyed that there are only two lanes, that are not self-check, open during prime-time (after work). I dont like paying a premium for groceries, then checking and bagging my own groceries. There are always three staffers hanging around waiting for someone to mess up on the checkout, or purchase alcohol. Put those three people behind a darn register. #ifiwerequeenforaday
Pleasant staff, great selection of food, clean facilities - its one step under the grand ol Market Districts. Half-price sushi day could be better (Sorry Giant Eagle, Heinens has you beat on sushi) but otherwise, your normal great Giant Eagle.Parking and the road just outside of the store can be a nightmare during peak hours!
JB in pharmacy is great, and they have a good selection with well stocked shelves. However, the store is getting a bit worn down (i.e. floors at check-out area and obscene graffiti in mens room) and can be dirty (baby changer in mens room goes months without cleaning).
I do all my grocery shopping to with giant Eagle through their delivery awesome I can go on line pick anything I need check the time I want it delivered and only cost $5 they drop it right at your door love it Im too busy to do the grocery store sometimes so I get them weekly great love it
I frequent this location often. Service and food is adequate but the prepared Giant Eagle café food is beyond horrible, the staff is lazy, inattentive, poorly trained and the eat-in experience is mediocre at best. Other then that the grocery experience is what youd normally expect at Giant Eagle.

2022-02-09Came here for Deli (was closed at 6:30) and frozen food. Frozen food coolers are horrible like everything was empty. NOt sure if supply chain issues but literally no frozen snacks but Jalapeno poppers with cream cheese. Yuck! Need to order more frozen food and stock the coolers.

2022-06-01This is one of the larger giant eagles and it does not disappoint. I can usually find everything that I need here. The meat selection is very good as is the wine beer and produce. The place is clean and the staff is always helpful. Also just a heads up this Giant eagle has stopped using plastic bags. Yes I know it was supposed to be at the beginning of the month but instead they surprised all of us. They were nice to offer to sell me some bags which are non-biodegradable. I ended up declining not because I could not afford the bags because I thought it was wrong that they told us one date that they were going to stop with the bags and start charging for these non-biodegradable bags and then surprised us by implementing this policy early. I am definitely for saving the planet and getting rid of plastic bags but we all should be informed so that I could have brought mine with me. Also they may want to think about another Earth Day project and that is picking up all the discarded covid masks in their parking lot. I mean these things are everywhere now. They are not just in this parking lot but they litter our roadways and our waterways. We now have a problem with the masks as they do not biodegrade.

2022-07-01This Giant Eagle Supermarket was one of the most cleanest one I have been in for a very long time. Well organized fresh meats, fresh seafood, fresh hot food. When Im out this way will shop here again.

2022-03-15I frequently shop at Giant Eagle stores, and this time was awful. Most of the produce looked very bad. When I went to check out there was a problem with the register and almost every item said it required assistance... as a manager walked by and just look at me and a I was waiting for help she literally looked up and moved on. I ended up just walking out and leaving the whole cart full of groceries there out of frustration!... I will try to avoid this store from now on

2022-04-11This store used to be a decent store and it has steadily went downhill. Now I either shop at Heinens or Meijer and am done with Giant Eagle. The deli is almost never open and they dont even bother filling up the self-serve cooler like they used to. There is always an excuse and no clear hours posted, either no one available or if someone is actually working they are on break. The produce is terrible, prices have climbed much more than other stores for the same items and they seem to be out of many things that other stores always have in stock. The carts are rusty and wobbly and no more handheld baskets. They are now in the process of removing all plastic bags and will be charging you $0.10 per bag if you want paper. There are generally only 1 or 2 cashiers working and the self-serve checkouts are antiquated and you always need assistance to continue (which takes forever). I get that employees are in high demand but why arent any of the other stores having these issues? Heinens has a fully staffed deli counter with multiple workers every minute they are open for business.I went from only going to this store for all my food and prescriptions to just prescriptions and the occasional item when picking up prescriptions but after my last visit I am done with them. Whomever took over the helm at the company really destroyed it in short order. They were a quality store for so many years and now they are terrible.

2021-04-27Completely arbitrary closing times for their departments, especially the deli. I even called today, after being burned before, to make sure they were open. I was assured they closed at 8:30. Handwritten sign stating they were closed at 7:30. I wish I could make up my own hours at work

2022-06-19They had outdoor hanging planter baskets for only $4.99 which is an incredible deal.
