Georges Family Restaurant in other cities:
Why do we keep supporting corporate chains when we have Dayton gems such as Georges? When you walk through the door, you are not a color, you are not ignored. You are a valued human and treated as family. From the service to the music to the food you will have a 10 out of 10 experience.
This restaurant is a very nice sit-down diner. The atmosphere reminds me of an older generation decorated atmosphere with 50’s music being played. The waitress was very nice, getting my food and orders quickly. The food was out nice and hot but very timely. I had the Broasters chicken. It was very juicy and tender. If you are in the Northridge area, I would definitely recommend this place. (They also have a senior citizen discount menu section)
The waiter we had was very fun and cheerful. He made us all laugh, after being at Dayton Childrens Hospital all day it was a good change. There food is really good. The people there make you feel like family, plus its homemade food that you cant get at any restraunt anymore.
First time here, wont be my last. Burger was tasty, and the other items I seen coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked delicious!!! The pies were fabulous! Our server was amazing, so sweet, and all the other employees were happy and helpful. A business that really helps out the community and other local businesses. If in North Dayton stop on in and grab a bite to eat!
I was shocked to say the least that they were so worried about COVID they had us wait in the car. ONLY to have the person serving our drinks set them on the adjacent dirty table with ppl still sitting there... are you serious. We were seated at 1030 and finally a waitress came at 1100 and she was very sweet. Food was good but not sure if I would go back.
I always stop in at georges around pay day I absolutely love the family friendly atmosphere! Today was more magical than normal, our server was a sweetheart I really wish I wouldve caught her name! The food is always done perfect I never have a single problem with anything here! The staff is amazing!!!! Thank you for being such a wonderful establishment🥰
As my friend and I walked in we were greeted with awesome kindness and with the utmost respect. We were asked were we wanted to sit and was lead to our table and after we were seated the server asked what would like to drink and with no waiting our beverages were before us.The atmosphere was very pleasant and the meal was very good and almost to much of it.I would recommend Georges Family Restaurant with a 100% confidence that they will leave with full belly and I will come on there lips. B.HEATLEY
I took a friend of mine, an older lady with me to Georges and it was first time for both of us. The food was very good even better than expected. Service was very friendly from the person who seated us to our server to the person who checked us out. I would recommend to anybody looking for American diner food. In the future I plan to try some of the Greek specialties, as these reminded me of the Greek restaurants of my youth growing up in Chicago. Editing I have been to Georges several times since my first visit. My favorite is the broasted chicken and tonight I had the lemon chicken rice soup and it was as good as any Ive had even at fancy Greek restaurants.
Yesterday was the first time Ive been here. The food was really good. So was the coffee. Our waitress was great too. I didnt get her name. Shes pregnant. I cant wair to come back and try something else. Huge selection to choose from. I wish you were a little closer to home.
Tried this place for the first time and honestly I am glad I did. I took my sister, her son, and his girlfriend out for breakfast and everything was absolutely delicious. Our server was patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. I was able to feed four people for $50 ($60 with tip). I plan to return soon to experience dinner. 10/10 I WILL be returning.
The owner of Georges is one of the finest bass players around. If you like improvisational music with that low end to make your shoes move, this is the type sound we are talking about. Of course the bass is the most important part of the band, right? Oh, and he makes pretty good food too...
First time here , food is absolutely delicious , the size of the menu is a little overwhelming but thats really the only down part, everything else is fabulous its clean and the food is real fried Chicken not that corn flakes stuff , when we first ordered I got the club sandwich and my husband got the four-piece mixed chicken , the club was absolutely delicious and fresh , however his checking looked so good that I had to get my own order, and it was beyond juicy and crispy perfect ! In addition to being clean and good service and tasty food , for pricing was very well worth the money , 8 pieces of chicken , 2 orders of mashed potatoes and 2 coleslaws with each having a drink was less than $45!!!! They have breakfast and dinner served the entire time theyre open all day so definitely something for everybody there isnt any reason why I wouldnt recommend this place!! I highly recommend and will be back for sure!
Our elder relatives took us for dinner. It has a 1950s vibe with old time music and decor. The menu is classic as well.If youre looking for some good home cooking....better than those chain restaurants....then I recommend you try this place.Broaster chicken is unique. Not fried, but crispy and juicy and tender. Not available where we live so it was a new experience. Delicious.
Georges has been a local favorite for years. The food is very good, served hot and the cooks put together a meal exactly how you ask for it. Waitresses are as good as they come! I would give them 5 stars but a recent change to the biscuits prevents me from doing that. The sausage gravy is one of the best around, but ask for toast with it instead to get the full flavored goodness. It is family friendly, affordable, and worth driving to after a motel stay on Miller Lane and beyond.
Today June 18 I called and tried to order over the phone this lady did not take my order because I was not giving her my card number. I wanted to pay in cash because I was close but I was very busy. This is the 1st time this has happened I have ordered before with no problems. Question is whats the issue.
Georges is a Dayton staple. If you havent been before, you are missing out! Great value for the large portions. I love their brunch options! You also cant beat their staff - always to warm and welcoming! Georges has also been so supportive of the community. What a great addition to Dayton we have here!
This is an amazing restaurant with staff that make you feel like family. They have an enormous menu of home cooked foods and its always a great place to take people if you dont know what kind of foods will make everyone happy. The broasted chicken is some of the best Ive ever had. The Friday night fish special is an enormous portion and a great value- its all you can eat, but I couldnt eat more than one plate.
Just found out about this Dayton Gem and became an instant weekly regular!!!! Allllways busy and the parking lot has plenty of space, Alllways great service, Alllways delicious, Alllways pleasant folks who work and dine there. Great prices, Great food and Everything you want in a Family restaurant that isnt a another cookie cutter chain-store.🏆👍😁👍
This Georges restaurant has very good food. Perfect portion size! By that I mean, not too much not too little. The food was very fresh & they had some Greek options. I know what your thinking Greek Omelet for breakfast OH YES!!!! Also serving lunch & dinner plates. Breakfst served all day. Fast service too.
First time there last week, ordered a couple pieces of boasted chicken. Excellent. Got take home meatloaf and mashed potatoes for husband. Both were excellent. Returned few days later...again broasted chicken was very good, but, my mashed potatoes were very disappointing...tasted like old baked potatoes were used...very bad. It is a very casual, relaxed atmosphere. Everyone was very nice. I will return, hoping those taters were a bad day.
Lets just say goodbye Frishs breakfast bar and hello Georges kitchen. I am so glad to have found you as I just moved to the area recently. I cannot believe how much food arrived in my order as the portions are very generous. The sausage gravy is outstanding. I must recommend that you get Tina to wait on you she was so unbelievably professional and friendly and a lot of fun. I could go on and on but right now I have to bow my head and start praying for one of the other waitresses who was a little frazzled as she kept asking in the kitchen window I need sausage gravy. It became louder and louder every time she said it. Lol. Oh well it happens and it is understandable. And the food came at a very sufficient time although the place was packed. No waiting.
First ever visit and glad we stopped in. The service was top notch. This place seems to live up to its name of a family restaurant. The servers greeted people by name, it was very obvious that people keep going back. Why do they go back? Well the food was excellent. Flavorful and of sufficient quantity to feel like I got my moneys worth. I had an inside out Burger with bacon and cheddar on the inside of the burger (see what they did there?) There was a lack of cheddar but lots of bacon. Would definitely go back. Well worth the visit.
Server was incredible. Very personable. The cashier/manager (??) Was also very friendly. The individual checking out in front of us was shorted a thigh or two. It was subbed with two legs and a 10% discount on their next meal. Awesome customer service! The food was good and we enjoyed our meal.
Pick up order today. My husband and I were very excited to try this place, because he is from Dayton (and his name is George!) and we moved back to the area in February. It was... Meh. Mediocre. I ordered the meatloaf, as I had seen a picture on the Google reviews (I always check them out!) with three large, thick slices of meatloaf (YUM!) But upon receiving our order, they were TINY and very dry. Taste wasnt bad, but definitely not what I was expecting. The mashed potatoes were extremely bland and cold, the green beans were also very bland, and the mozzarella sticks were cold and hard. The onion rings got flimsy by the time my husband brought them home, (deep fry em an extra minute or two yall!) And the dinner rolls were left off the order. Havent gotten to the soup yet, but I have to say I am pretty disappointed. I wont count them out quite yet though, because maybe the dine-in experience will be better! But still, a carry out order quality/quantity shouldnt be THAT much different from dine-in. Im sure we will give it another shot at some point, (with other menu items) but not anytime soon. :/ Two stars because the guy on the phone was very nice when speaking with my husband while he was placing our order! 🤷🏽♀️
Food is delicious! Love the Greek salads! Wish their salads were a lettuce bend rather than just iceberg. Service is good! 60s music, love it! I am now a regular customer. I tried their all you can eat Friday fish special: it was just alright. The fish was cod and a bit dry but both times Ive gone its sold out. I took home what I couldnt finish; it was actually better the next day. Still Im not into cod so I wont order that again.
We enjoyed a nice Saturday afternoon meal as a family here for the first time. The food was pretty good, nothing outstanding, portions were generous. The music was a good volume, and nothing loud and obnoxious like so many restaurants play these days. Atmosphere was real mom-and-pop, and clean. The waitress was polite and friendly. Well be back to try more menu options!
There is a lot going on with virus mandates. So, going out to eat is ... Extra. Were on the road and stopped here for lunch. The service was good, but since everything is taken off of the tables the waitress had to keep going back and forth to grab condiments. Its a lot to remember. The side salad is iceberg bag salad. Not the greatest. The house dressing is oil and red vinegar. I like that, no one else did. The hamburger 🍔 looked good. The breakfast was ok. I think the prices are a bit high. Brunch for 3 with a side of biscuits and gravy and a coffee, 40$. Theres a gyro sandwich and a Greek plate more geared towards dinner. Its worth a stop to bypass big chain restaurants.
Listen up yall.... Go eat at this place!!! I had breakfast on Sunday and Monday here and my experience was phenomenal... I tipped 10 bucks on a 10 dollar order... it was that good... I had lunch yesterday and today and I thought breakfast was good... biscuits and gravy 1 morning, omelette mix up the 2nd.. burger and fries 1st lunch and a steak and fries the 2nd... go check this little diner style restuarant out!!!!
I’m not sure what made me stop here on the way home from work one day but I’m glad I did. Doesn’t look like much from the outside (not a bad thing) but once you go in you’ll understand. Their soups are awesome, haven’t had a bad one yet. The staff is what makes it though. Every time I’ve gone they have been great. I enjoy visiting places where you can clearly see the staff is happy to be there. I’m not one of the regulars yet but am working on it. Will be back soon to try something new on the menu.
The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We were acknowledged when we walked in. Our waitress was at our table with menus and ready to take our order as soon as we sat down. The food is amazing, the portions are enough for 2 people, and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very inviting, lots of laughter, and conversations. We were not rushed to eat and leave. I cant wait to go vack.
Man i will tell you Ive passed this place for years thinking it was no good just how it looks? That was a big mistak the food is the bomb this food that they make its amazing just straight out down home cooking so with that said anybody that is or gonna read this YOU GOTTA STOP AND EAT you wont regret it
Good food friendly staff. I had the grilled pork chops, mashed potatoes and green beans. I really wanted the broasted but I was rather famished and didnt want to wait the 20 minutes (they are made to order). The iced tea was my favorite! It tasted homemade as advertised. All in all a pretty decent place for an affordable meal. I will return to try the broasted chops and breakfast.
We were greeted as we arrived. Place is clean and there is a large selection of food on the menu. Large portions of delicious food. We had breakfast meals. The food arrived hot and tasted very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were there midday Sunday and it was packed yet wait time was short. They have both tables and booths.A great place to eat
Soooo good! Omelet was delicious and a good size. The Meatloaf was also very good, but not quite as much as I wouldve hoped for. The service was incredible! By far the fastest I have ever been served. It was less than 10 minutes from ordering to everyone eating at the table. (It felt like less than 5 minutes, but I wasnt timing them). Their homemade Coleslaw is the BEST IVE EVER HAD!
This was my first visit at this family restaurant and I must say it lives up to the hype around town. Today I enjoyed the 4-piece Broasted Chicken with broasted potatoes and applesauce. The chicken was juicy and not overly seasoned like many places. They offer curbside pickup as well as dine-in. Yep, this is going to be one of my favorite eateries. Sorry no picture because I devoured my food before this request for review came up.
Finally tried Georges Family Restaurant for take-out chicken after seeing a billboard declaring them Daytons Best Chicken. Now, having eaten their chicken, we agree--its definitely the best in North Dayton, for sure. None of the normal franchises in this area can serve up even a mediocre chicken meal, and Georges was delicious! Even though it was close to closing time, our chicken was hot and delicious, perfectly seasoned, and well-priced. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes which were touted as house-made, and indeed, they were real mashed potatoes, complete with some little nuggets of potato left unmashed. We ordered curbside carryout which took 20 minutes from call to cheery delivery to our car. Thanks for making our Friday evening meal so effortless & delicious--well be back!
Ordered the country fried steak in eggs this morning in biscuits and gravy... it was delicious ive been trying to find a place that had good gravy in country fried steak in they are the best will diffently be ordering from them more often in taking the family into eat.
My grandpa took me here for the first time and it was a great place. All the food is fresh and reasonably priced. It was so clean! Most restaurants have quite a bit of dirt here and there but this one didn’t. They keep the place clean and it shows. Staff is super friendly as well.
I love Georges the waitress was great, the food was great, and the service was great. I went to Georges with my grandfather Its her birthday he had told our waitress and without even asking she came out with my plate and put a single candle in my waffle. I really wasnt in the mood to celebrate my birthday till she did that and for that I thank her and the staff for an excellent service!!. If I could give more stars I would!!
Maybe its the covid, maybe its because Ive moved away from the area and they just arent as good as I once remember. I used to eat Georges all the time and thought it was delicious, but the last few times Ive gone the food just wasnt there. Ive always loved the Biscuits and gravy and my biscuits have been overly dry and the gravy taste like its been microwaved. The last time we dined in our service was subpar as well. Our waitress wasnt overly friendly, not necessarily rude, but she didnt seem happy to be working. Sad to say I wont be back for a third chance.
They will reserve table space if requested and everyone was friendly. Ambience was nice and homey. Food was good and the Full House breakfast was big. I enjoyed the veggies scramble, too. Someone had the burger and was disappointed. It was touted as the best on Dayton, but it was thin and lacked flavor.
First visit today. I was quite impressed with the comfortable atmosphere of this restaurant. Very clean and attractive decor. Nice menu variety. Had the Philly steak sandwich with onion rings. Both were very good, and serving size was generous. Definitely earned my repeat business.
Usually good food, but dont want to do carry out orders unless they get a credit card. Amazing how many times I will pass this place to get food everyday, since work near by. It was the rudeness of the matter, that turned me off from walking across the street anymore, I will just drive down to some place else.
Waited for our food 30 minutes after ordering and other people that came in after us got served we decided to pay for our drinks and leave and was told not to come back by the owner we have been regulars for 6 years first time we didnt want to wait on cold food wont ever go back

2022-06-06Really Like This Restaurant. We love the breakfast menu, good portions, hot, and Very Good.I would not recommend going in close to closing. The serving staff are vocal about ready to close, we were there one hour and 45 minutes Before 8:00pm, leaning over table to fill sugar, salt etc. Made me uncomfortable and in the way. Around 5:30/6:00 PM should be fine.Managers are extremely nice and helpful.

2022-07-13Super friendly staff! We came on a Friday evening, and the place was hopping! There was a line at the door and the parking lot was full. We got our food in a timely manner and were all happy with our meals. My mother-in-law ordered liver with onions, which I tasted, and can highly recommend if you are someone who likes liver. It was amazing!

2022-03-26As always.. it was fantastic!! Thank you again Georges family restaurant ❤️ the ladys that work there waiting tables and bringing food out for pick up are really sweet too. I work for Triangle insurance agency and we are pretty much across the street from Georges and we would order lunch from there 3xs a week or more. Thanks for all the great food. We will definitely be back for more.

2022-07-17Amazing family food. When the place is packed with locals, you know it’s good. Everything we ate was great. Nothing fancy. Large menu, but perfectly prepared like grandma and mom always made. I would highly recommend going here.

2022-04-12Everything on the menu sounded so good that it was hard for us to choose! We each got something we had been craving for awhile(chicken & biscuits w gravy, fish, Cole slaw, etc) and it was all mouth watering. Plus the staff was friendly and service was fast. We will be back for more!

2022-05-26We had one of the nicest waitresses who absolutely went above and beyond to show us great service. There was a short wait, but thats no big deal. I wish I has gotten the breakfast thats served all day, but didnt. My mistake. The spaghetti was good, but Im really curious how the pancakes are. Maybe next time...

2022-07-09We typically don’t dine at this type of restaurant but needed breakfast after a return flight to Dayton. Found this place just off 75. Our meals were all excellent. Broasted chicken, Belgian waffle, omelette and burger with fries. Fabulous diner.
