Warranty service is complete garbage!!! Went to pick up our brand new camper last year and during the walk through found a hole in the leather couch, refrigerator and freezer panels all scratched up, and the latch to the outside grill broken. Ridiculous that they don’t see this stuff before! Came back to get them fixed. Have to take a whole day off of work and they tell us the new fridge panels are scratched. Try checking parts beforehand! They also did a lousy patch job on the couch. It’s a brand new camper I expect it to look new!!! They didn’t bother doing anything with the grill strap. Bring it back yet again…after five hours of not hearing anything we go back to pick it up and they tell us they sent the wrong couch and fridge panels. Will not do business with General Rv again!!!!!!
I had an emergency repair & I needed parts fast and General RV North Canton was open on Sunday and they had the parts I needed!! Saved me a ton of stress & my weekend! Im very grateful for the great job that Gary did finding the part to get my trailer ready for the road trip I had coming up. Thanks Gary! 👍
Update: This initial review was made 3 weeks ago. During that visit I put $500 cash down on a camper. I still have not recieveved my money back. Bad enough we were lied to. Are you going to keep my money as well?Couldnt make a deal and lied to. Went up to look and the camper we looked at had a tag of 18999.00 the bill showed 19771.00. Was told a payment range of 159-169. When we got the call the payment was 297! We were told the price difference was for them to clean and set up. I can teach myself for that kind a money. I wont go back for anything. Ill go back to camping world. Ive bought 2 from them. Theyve worked with me in the past.
Joey (delivery specialist)... She was very helpful and was an absolute sweetheart answering my questions. HOWEVER, If you call to talk to someone in service and Tom answers the phone, hang up and call back and ask for someone else. He was NOT very customer service oriented AT ALL. ** Im starting to worry that I bought my trailer from the wrong dealer because I also wasnt happy with the sales experience (when the salesman forgot to tell me about the fees that would be added to the sales price).
I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the service we have received from General RV ever since we purchased our brand new camper last year. First, upon purchase we were guaranteed on several occasions that we would receive our camper in time for the Fourth of July weekend only for them to tell us the day before we planned to pick it up that it was not ready, which left us scrambling to rent a camper for our non-refundable trip. After we finally did receive our camper, the first trip out we noticed a large leak under the shower due to an elbow pipe not being properly tightened which my husband was able to fix himself. At the end of our camping season last fall, our shower door completely shattered which of course was not covered under the extended warranty we purchased and we called for them to replace, as well as a broken blind, leaking slide out and ripped carpet from screws that were left sticking out and tore the carpet every time we put our slides in and out. They told us if we wanted it fixed in time for spring, we had to store it there and they could have it repaired by the end of March. We lost our deposit where we planned to store it at another facility and paid to store it at General RV. We are now picking up our camper for our first camping trip this year that has had ZERO repairs done with no time schedule as to when they may be completed which means we are missing a blind and have no shower door. They even had the nerve to ask if we just wanted to bring it back in the fall for them to store and they could work on repairs then. I would strongly recommend people look elsewhere for their camping needs!
Purchased new RV mid April 2022. Salesman, Jack Schroeder was outstanding as well as Pam Pilcher in Finance. We cannot say enough about how wonderful they both are. They truly have the General RV “family” attitude! After walk through, we added additional parts and never received follow up from Service and/or Parts if parts were even added on work order. Numerous messages and voicemails were left and nobody returned our calls. Our salesman Jack Schroeder, who is amazing followed up by having someone call us back. My husband was told by Whitney (on Friday) the goal was to have RV ready midweek. Again no follow up. I contacted General RV following Friday and was disconnected and transferred multiple times for 25 Minutes until I finally got through to Adam in service. Adam stated the RV was ready Tuesday and I am finding out today (Friday) as I had to call in because nobody follows up. I asked Adam why we were not contacted? Standard reply. Service is a joke, forget trying to call, communication is pathetic! I would advise going in and speaking with someone versus dealing with the frustration of being juggled in the General RV phone system. Total lack of urgency within Service. Very dissatisfied with the lack of follow up and communication. This is our first time purchasing and it has not been a positive experience with the exception of Jack and Pam. General RV - Service and communication needs a lot of work!!!
Patrick was very informative and let us look around to see what type of travel trailer we really wanted. Didnt buy anything so I cant give any more info.Update. Unfortunately weve had some questions for Patrick and left a message for him. 2 days and no reply so now we move on.
For the life of me I cant understand how this place is still in business. I called off work yesterday to drive to my camp site for my confirmed 0900 appointment. Needless-to-say I had to reach out several times to the service department this week just to make sure I was still on the books since I hadnt heard anything in regards to this appointment I made over a year ago and prior I had a no-call/no-show from General RV after waiting a whole day. I called them yesterday at 10:00 AM (hour past my confirmed appointment) and the advisor could not tell me an approximate time. I called again at 11:30 AM and they wouldnt give me a timeframe (very short and rude). Stated the techs notes said remote and they had no clue when hed be out. Reached out to Alan after noon and was told the tech couldnt make it. No surprise.. My extended warranty runs out in June and Im almost sure that Ill continue to get the run around until after then. I am dealing with the same issues for five years now without resolution. Below is the review I wrote three years ago and NOTHING has changed. If you value service in your purchase please go elsewhere. Only single star review Ive ever written... EVER. I look forward to the auto-generated response. Please scroll down for my first review on General RV three years ago. These are the only two one star reviews Ive ever given. The place is a joke.
I purchased a Little Guy Mini Max two years ago, and what I will tell you is that they are big on selling, but little on servicing. I cannot get anyone to call me back, I get transferred all over the place...they are just not about service after the fact. I would not recommend dealing with them at all.
Worst experience ever. My husband went over the weekend to trade in our old camper to a used one. Our bank financed us and sent the check to them. We had all the paper work done. He missed work Wednesday to sign papers and missed Saturday to go get the camper. My husband was upfront about the few problems our camper had! He pulled our 44 foot toy hauler to the dealership and as they were doing a walk through on the new one they stopped the walk through and told him they couldnt accept our trade in. DO NOT trust them on saying they will accept your trade in. They didnt even offer less on the trade in. Very unprofessional!
We purchased our camper here in 2020. This past year we had some flood damage and took it to their service department to have it fixed. We dropped our camper off in January 2022. It is still not fixed after 5 months. They have not even touched it since we took it in. Even worse, they admitted that and were not sorry. Terrible customer service by David Hinds, Tim and Emily in the service department. They do not respond and they do not care. They are inept at their jobs. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE.DO NOT BUY OR GO THERE FOR SERVICE. YOU WILL BE SORRY!
I drive past this location every morning. The amount of time I’ve been flicked off or arms thrown up as they cross the road is unprofessional. I understand you park across the street but you do not own the road. It is a busy street there should be no reason to stop traffic to walk across the road and then get mad at normal drivers for inconveniencing you.
We signed the papers a month before we even got the camper because the tire was blown. Told them to check the axel when they changed the tire because of visable things that led us to believe the axel might be broken. Which it was. Then took them another 2 weeks to have that replaced because they were too lazy to check it. Our shower door lock is broken; was told it was going to be replaced and it wasn’t. Then when we finally did get to bring it home, we’re lucky we even made it home because the hitch was so loose we literally just pulled it off with one hand. None of the people who worked there seemed to care. It took us showing up there 4 times to even get someone to listen to us. We will not be back. And I highly do not reccomend buying or doing any business with them.
We found an RV on line, a Thor Ace 27.1 it was located at General RV in North Canton OH. We live in Grand Rapids MI but it had all the features that we wanted. We arranged through national General RV to go see it and made the trip a few days later. We purchased it. While writing up the sales agreement there was a $2600 surprise prep fee added. We asked about this since it seemed very high. It was explained to us that it was so they could do a bumper to bumper inspection for safety and to fix anything that was wrong. That seemed reasonable. Two weeks later on 3/17 we went to pick up our motorhome. We were a little early and it was still being cleaned. We waited and then Shane went through the motorhome with us showing us how to use everything. He was very good. During this walk through I noticed missing lights and Shane said they would get ordered and shipped to us. We then met with Rob Tidyman, Finance Manger, he was very helpful and made signing a lot of documents really fun. We then got in our motorhome and started for Grand Rapids. On the local streets it was driving fine. We then got on the highway and after a few miles it started shaking so bad that cupboard doors started falling off. It then swerved suddenly to the right and hit a pole. We had to pull off the highway. We had made it 8 miles. We had it towed back to General RV. The next day I called General RV to talk with them and finally talked someone into just going out and making sure it was there. I called again on March 21st and was transferred all around and I finally left a message. I received a call from Brandon Service manager on 3/22 who said they had driven it and they couldnt determine the cause of the problem so they made an appointment for April 18th with another repair job. It is now 4/22. I have called General RV several times this week and left messages but still have not heard what is wrong with my motorhome. So, if you want a motorhome that you can actually use I would not recommend going to General RV.
Go to another dealer.And…. Watch… first thing they will tell you is they need a deposit…. It’s all about getting the deposit for them. And most likely when you get there the camper/RV you want to buy… will magically be sold …. But… wait they have a different one, or new one they can sell you….
General RV Center has a very large selection of RVs. No doubt that you would be able to find what you are looking for, or at least something close to it. The sales folks are nice and eager to answer questions. There is also a healthy selection of RV accessories inside the main building. The reason for the four star rating is because you are not allowed to look at the RVs on their lot unless accompanied by an adult. Sorry, I mean a salesperson. This makes it difficult to look at whatever you want. You tell the salesperson what you are looking for and they show you their recommendations. Sure, you can ask to see any other RVs that tickle your pickle once you are out on the lot, but you will always have a shadow. It makes the experience a bit less casual which, for me, was disappointing. I like the freedom of roaming around and taking my time without feeling like Im wasting someone elses time. I will end with this, the salesperson we dealt with was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. He even stayed late to show us a couple of additional models he thought we would like. Amazing. So, if having a salesperson tag along with you throughout your hunt for the perfect RV is no bother to you, then General RV Center is an outstanding choice. If you are like me, and prefer to look with freedom to roam wherever your eyes take you, then I would consider looking for an alternate dealer.
Service booked an appointment for warranty, generator and oil change 2 months in advanced. Called in August was scheduled mid October. Brought it in then a week later their phones went down. I emailed. Didnt hear anything for 2 weeks. Today they called and said not sure when probably two or three more weeks. She said I could bring it back in January. They returned me my van and then said I have an appointment in March. My sales person was very helpful. Now update in March they moved to May. I asked if I can drop it off the night before they say no.Update got it fixed in the shop in June. They said they installed a new backup screen camera. I drew a small mark on top left. Returned the van back with the old screen sure enough my little mark is still in the corner.
They are the worst dealer everAnd what they did to my parents and my parents got a new camper it Falling apart and never got to us it.My parents have to get a lawyer bc my parents took the camper down 3 weeks They havent even fixed it yet and my parents had a tip for this week now they cant go and lost money.
Purchased a brand new 2022 Keystone Arcadia 3660, they charged me over $1000 for a PDI first trip with the camper I got to Boston and had total brake failure only to find out 3 of the 4 brakes in the camper were never hooked up from the factory. This should have been caught in the PDI. They charge customers for a PDI that they never complete. That’s theft!!
Spent the day looking..we knew what we wanted & price range..a lot to look at..most were just a little over our price & weight, but more than what we were comfortable pulling..salesman & finance guy was very helpful..not super pushy but..there are other places we wanted to check out..would still recommend them..
Let me preface this by saying that I have not purchased from this company as of the time of this review. I am however shopping and Todd was an amazing salesperson. Very helpful and concerned more with what I could safely pull than the sale. When I am ready, then I will purchase from him. He showed me a bunch of units and I was impressed and a bit overwhelmed as someone new to this type of life. Attached are some of the pictures of the units he showed me within my price range and safe towing capacity.
6/10/22 updateMy camper that was brand new late October 2021 is still not right. General RV is the worst service on the planet. Between them and keystone Arcadia I would never deal with them again. They sold me a lemon that they refuse to help fix.So far I have had mostly problems with my brand new ARCADIA travel trailer. It’s our 45th wedding anniversary my 6and 8 year old grandkids are with us and we can’t get water into the camper. I paid 2500.00$ to General Trailer they call it a prep expense. To make sure everything works. My toilet leaks pieces are falling off the camper. It a mess. I paid cash full price and I am not very happy right now.If the manager or owner would please step in and help I would appreciate it. Today is 10-23-21 our anniversary 45 years I feel helpless.Today 10/26/21Thank you to Tim Hardie for calling me the next morning and trying to help me. He was really concerned about my circumstances. As it turned out the water issue was partly my fault for not understanding the system. Although I had asked to go over it again before delivery and it didn’t happen. Also a big shout out to Allen Smith a young technician @ General Trailer. He was kind patient and very smart. He fixed the leaking toilet and my AC Air conditioning. The was a wire not hooked up. I am very thankful to this young man.And now Maybe a happy camper.
This is the WORST, WORST, WORST RV service center ever!!!! They make you wait months for parts they ordered only to find out that they ordered the wrong parts twice!!! Bought a brand new Rv and have already had it in the shop 3 times! They just want your money and then after that your on your own! You can never get anyone to call you back or return and email. They have the worst customer service Ive ever encountered. I will NEVER do business with General RV again!!!
E Our 2nd purchase through John Taylor at General RV - Jumped from a Travel Trailer into a Big Rig! John was excellent with my wife and I and really took care of us all the way through the transaction! John has great knowledge of all RV’s we discussed, great customer service and great follow-up. Can’t wait to get on the road in our new Big Rig! Thanks John and General RV!
I bought my 2015 teardrop camper May 2021 and I’ve been happily on the road ever since. Ashleigh Hass at the Dover, FL office went above and beyond to make sure I got off to a good start. I was Leary dealing with a big company as a small customer, but everyone treated me as if I was spending 10X as much money.
Sales part of General RV very good to deal with however the service section is terrible. We bought brand new camper and have had several issues with it. Still having issues and have made several trips to them which is a 3 hour drive. Poor costumer service!Very unsatisfied and would not buy from them again. Have had nothing but issues with a brand new camper and nothing but problems with the warranty. These pictures are damages they done from closing the bunk house slide out in with the door open. This was the Canton location. Do not buy from them!
This is my 2nd trailer from here. The best thing about them is the family atmosphere and the 1 on 1 walk thru before the purchase. Having said that, DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you go as far as unit specifics and cost. ASK QUESTIONS when you have them and wait for answers. Remember, nobody is ever actually in a hurry to buy a camper. Lastly, if this is your 1st camper, lower you expectations as far as build quality. ALL campers are built to be light and therefore use light/cheap materials. Take care and properly maintain yours. They do not take a beating and keep on ticking. They require love and attention.. lol
Bought a 2022 Winnebago view. I have tried to make a service appointment to take care of some warranty work. I first tried the internet to schedule without a return call. I called the service department 4 times before someone answered. I was told the scheduling system was down and would get a call back shortly. It never happened. I finally resorted to calling the supplier of the system who Resolved the problem. If I had to do over, I would purchase from Lichtsinn RV. I understand the effect of the pandemic but you can still communicate with customers. If they are short handed, tell customers that, but return calls at the very least.
We just purchased a motor home this month. I have to say sales and finance were top notch. Kristina in sales is who you want to ask for if your in the market for a Motorhome. She is extremely knowledgeable and her personality is not of a typical salesperson. She genuinely takes time and listens to her customers. She is not pushy at all and was just as excited as us when we made our decision. Pam in finance was the best , when it’s time to do the paperwork you definitely want to be sitting in her office. She knows the best options for each customer We had one issue and it was taken care of immediately with Rodney in the service department. He was a pleasure to work with also. . We feel like we made a couple new friends there. Thanks again to all who helped us with our purchase now we’re off to some new destinations.
So, I’m back!! Just to refresh my story, we bought a brand new 5th wheel from General RV last May. Nothing but issues. Our refrigerator broke THREE times last summer, so we may have had a working refrigerator for maybe a month and a half out of our camping season last year. But, it was fixed, right? I’m sorry to say no. We are sitting here now, with a beautiful camper with a non-working refrigerator, again. And we are out all of the food in our refrigerator and freezer for a fourth time. So you ask if we had any priority in service since this is clearly a problem, I mean three times for a technician to be out for the same issue seems to be a lot, right? But, again, no. Thank goodness we are paying a pretty penny for an extended warranty since this couldn’t be fixed last year after 3 attempts . I have no idea what we would do without that warranty. We are also still dealing with another issue from last season- a leaking toilet in the bathroom. That was “fixed” twice last summer, but I still have water leaking on my camper floor. I am so disappointed that we spent our hard earned money at General RV and have to waste so much time and energy to get resolution for these issues. I highly caution anyone purchasing a camper from General RV to think twice. We expressed all of this today, to no avail, even after a manager was involved. We have to wait over two weeks to even have it looked at. And, this is the second camper we purchased from them, so don’t think that loyalty gets you anywhere. Please take this review into consideration and look at your options outside of General RV.
The North Canton branch had an extremely kind and accommodating staff. A few things needed to be adjusted and figured out before leaving which made our visit a little longer than planned. They had lunch delivered for us! Each staff member was definitely helpful and ready to meet any need or request we had. People questioned why we would drive 6 hours to buy a camper. It was a great experience!
In my opinion the most important thing when looking for an RV dealer is their service. The service department here is great! Mike McClung our service writer, always does a great job of getting us in and out and is excellent with follow-ups.The service team has always gone above and beyond to answer any technical questions I may have.We have bought two new RV’s from General RV and the sales staff is easy to work with and always accommodating of all our request and questions. When we are ready to buy again, we will certainly be back to General RV in Canton, OH
From day one, from looking at the 5th Wheel all the way to Delivery, every aspect of the order/sale went smooth. Communication was excellent. We were not high pressured into buying additional products or services. We are very happy with all of our experiences with General RV.
Everyone was so helpful and kind. They genuinely love what they do. Friendly staff is important for good customer relationships. Rob K. was very patient with us as we told him what we wanted in a Travel Trailer. He took that and our budget into consideration and found us the perfect travel trailer. Dean was helpful and very knowledgeable, Dominic went over everything during our walk through. Brandon was very helpful in getting us hooked up for the 1st time and even helped to install some braking app on our cells. We would only recommend General RV for any camping needs.
Walk into building first time there and they want to place you with a salesperson to walk around with you.Turned around and left, if I have questions Ill ask, I dont need guided around to just look, and asked about financials and given the used care salesperson treatment.
After months of looking for a cute couples camper and many different RV centers we finally went with General. TJ showed us around and really listened to what we wanted and also what we didnt want and wasnt just trying to get us to just buy something. I felt like he was being very honest with me and giving us the information we needed as first time buyers. I felt like I had a friend looking out for us, wanting us to find the best fit for our budget and lifestyle. For such a large purchase I was nervous to say the least but I felt comfortable with TJ. He answered all my crazy questions and let me take my time to think on things. I never felt pushed or rushed and that was important to me! We also did a lot of work with Emil and I was just as pleased with him. What a great guy! He explained everything to me in detail and made the whole deal with financing a breeze. Im glad we shopped around but General RV is the place you want to be to purchase a unit!
No stars if you ask me..... We had the best experience in Clarkston MI where we purchased our fifth wheel and loved everyone at General RV there until this July when I started the worst warranty experience of my life at the Canton branch, started in July and has just been a nightmare since. Went from July to September before I found out none of my warranty parts got ordered and still truly dont know if my parts are ordered or what and delivered my camper this past Saturday for the appointment I had for today November 16th and was just screamed and yelled at when I called to check on the status of my camper because no one communicated with me what was going on. I was told to take my camper elsewhere if I didnt like it. Really how you speak to your customer... Wow.... I would like to thank Tim though, through all this he has managed to help when no one else would.
After you purchase from them good luck getting them to help you with anything . I’ve called left messages for nearly two monthly never heard a word back. Finally After I called 5 times back to back the same day someone answered she was rude, and I had to wait on a call back. (Okay I looked past it we all have rough days.. The man I spoke with acted as tho I was wrong for being upset over this issue. Our brand new 2021 camper has a support beam snapped in half and they are claiming 3 months to even look at it… I’m sorry but a $30,000 leisure item, having issues within the frat year to that extreme is upsetting & anyone that works hard for their money would agree. So needless to say we are trading the one we bought in at another rv store. & we will never suggest or recommend anyone wasting their time or $ with this company.
Can I give 100 stars please!! I am still in shock, found an RV online, did the deal online great scheduled pick up today, called yesterday to have a slide topper put on told no problem go today EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE who made eye contact or we talked to was genuinely happy we were were there and smiled and said good morning can we help you, we have a Fantastic walk thru of our camper, decided to have them put on some Maxx Air vents for us......what did they say? No problem we will do it now. WHAT? I cannot believe the level of service and ease that they have to offer so I am saying this loud and proud USE THIS DEALER. I have NEVER been treated with this much genuine appreciation and accommodation EVER. JUST WOW! Please keep it up and we Thank Each and every one of you for your time, efforts and help with our new RV.
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM horrible experience when buying and after purchasing an RV from General RV. We purchased a brand new $120,000 Winnebago Travato from the salesman Keith. We have had it for 4 months and have already had 8 parts on the chassis replaced by dodge which took over 2 weeks in the shop and it’s back at the shop now for more issues. When we purchased it there was a large scratch to the base of the body on the back bumper that we brought up during the walk through, they said they would follow up and get it replaced ASAP. We never heard from them so we had to follow up and they said they’ll need it for 2-3 weeks to buff and paint the bumper. Keith is horrible salesman. Does not care about his customers only cared he got us to sign on the dotted line. He got his pay and washed his hands. The best answers we can get from him are - “that’s a dodge issue” or “that’s a Winnebago issue” and the best one yet “RVs go through a break-in period”. All that said NEVER EVER purchase from here and if you do steer clear of Keith.
We just recently bought a 2021 Grand Design Reflection fifth wheel from the north canton, Ohio location. Our salesman, Bob, was patient with us and listen to all of our remarks on things we did/didn’t like about each camper we looked at. He found us the perfect one! We slept on it that night and decided the next day to go through with the paperwork. Things, again went smoothly. On the day we went to pick up the fifth wheel and do our walk through we found that there was broken glass all over the floor and under the couch. What looked to be like the fireplace glass. We pointed this out to the technician and he immediately said that it would be cleaned out for us while we sign papers. After signing paperwork, our camper was ready for us to hook up and leave, so we trusted that it was cleaned. We were told a technician would be out to help us hook up. Now, we didn’t NEED this but it was nice to make sure everything was done correctly to tow home our new camper over 1.5hrs. No technician ever showed up to help us... so we had to do it ourselves. Upon getting home we find that the glass was in fact not cleaned AT ALL. I was VERY disappointed in the fact that we spent 60k+ on a brand new camper and the first thing we had to do when we got home was clean up all of this broken glass. Service could use some improvement. Makes me feel like “just another” customer that walked through their door.
Great customer service. They answered all our questions. Our salesman, Patrick, was never pushy or rude, he was completely professional and exciting. Mr. Dungan was fun to talk with while doing the financing. And Mr. Ray Long was amazing. He not only did a great job with the walk around of the camper, but he ran to get a golf cart because my wife was having an off day with her PTSD which was making her tired and having difficulty walking. Again, we had a great experience and got the camper we have been researching. We will certainly continue doing business with General RV. Thank you 😊.
Needed to replace stabilizer bars for a hitch which I discovered were stolen the day of departure for a trip. Phoned for an hour and got no answer during business hours. I stopped as it was urgent. Three guys were just standing around in the parts department. One refused to even see if they had any in stock. He told me they dont sell the bars separately anywhere and I needed to buy the whole hitch. His colleagues reaponse was that the bars were probably in my storage compartment. I found bars only on line easily. What scammers, trying to sell an entire hitch.
I am leery of large RV dealers but was pleasantly surprised at General RV. I attribute this to my sales person, Kevin Ketler. I started looking over a year ago and he was patient and did not try to use any high pressure sales tactics. He stayed in touch with me over the intervening time. When we made our decision, we solicited quotes from multiple dealers and General RV provided the best price. The delivery was thorough and issues with the unit were corrected immediately.I have no reservations recommending them.
Everyone was super nice, listened to our needs and found exactly what we needed!Update. Just bought our second RV from General RV. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Shout out to Cory Durbin. He was so helpful, patient, and professional. He had to deal with us coming to see RVs twice before we actually purchased, yet he stayed patient and kind. This helped us find the perfect RV and made the experience frictionless. Thank you!
We received the best service from General RV in North Canton Ohio. From the Salesmen John Taylor right to the Finance Guy 😊 Tristan Stewart. They have a very wide variety of campers and motor homes. You have got to check this place out. Its huge. Thanks again guys. We love our camper and cant wait to use it.
Jack the salesman was basically the only reason I didn’t give it 0 stars! He worked hard to make sure we found exactly what it was we were looking for! However the dealership shows you a sale price then puts hidden extra fees in it to jack the price up another 1500$. Reason I know this because my father and I both bought RVs at the same sale price only to have these fees added on for two different reasons. I’m considering having the state attorney generals office look into this.
The purchase of the camper and pricing was fair. But after the purchase, the customer service from the financial dept was a nightmare. They withdrew $250 out of my account for no reason. The people you need to talk to are horrible to get on the phone. Even though I had my own financing and walked in with the full amount of the camper I purchased they still needed a card on file to hold my camper. But they had no reason or explanation on why the took the money the second time 2 weeks after I had already purchased the camper and had take it home. I will gladly purchase a camper from my sales guy Ben but as for the after purchase service I’ve had I will never go back. Very disappointed
We were so pleased with the sales and service we received at General RV. Our salesman Mike was the reason after a year of looking other places we bought our RV at General RV. We couldnt be more pleased. He worked with us and made us feel like we were important. WE LOVE our new RV!!
Very very informative and knowledgeable staff Adam the service manager was very very thorough through the walk-through of my new RV. The salesman Mike and Lou the financial guy are very very nice. Thank you General RV Center I do recommend you guys. I traveled for two hours to come to this place from Erie,Pa. versus others it saved me the worthwhile to do this financial wise. They Put me up in a hotel with my wife the night before very nice that they did that. We was there the next day for three or four hours they spent all types of time with us .... thank you General RV.
I took my camper trailer into general RV in North Canton to be repaired, on May 5th 2020 repair was to take a little over 40 hours. This is the kind of service you have to look forward too. We still don’t have the trailer back yet, the clock is ticking. 106 days later no camper. they wont give us a straight answer when it will be finished. Just a complete run around. On 9/8/21 finally got my camper trailer back, of course when we inspected it they had to plug in to shore power because the battery was completely dead, all the lights in the trailer were left on that’s way the battery was dead. I asked if they are going to replace it they said no. We had custom cabinets made for one section and of course they are scratched up. After inspection the slide that was worked on the gasket is a inch away from the side of the slide.
They are great when they are selling you a camper. But once you pull out, you cannot get ANYTHING from them. The WORST customer service EVER. We have called 4 times and been told we will receive a call back- not one returned call. Everyone you talk to acts as though they have no idea what they are doing and certainly could care less about what you need. Go elsewhere!
I’ve been pretty satisfied with General in the past. I own two newer trailers from them and was hopeful that I’d be able to count on them to repair severe hail damage to the roof of my Grand Design Reflection. After tennis ball size hail resulted in 4 gaping holes in the roof, I could not manage to get a return call. After weeks of repeated attempts I drove to the N Canton facility to then get “in line” as my service did not qualify for priority service. It will be months before I can get the roof and various components replaced. I don’t take this incident personally....it’s just the nature of getting service from anyone that is so busy selling campers. I just expected a return phone call.
From the minute we walked into the building everyone was friendly and helpful. We were out with nick, who took the time to ask questions and show us options for campers. We left undecided. He then gave us time to discuss options at home before giving us a follow up call, which actually led us to decide on the perfect camper for our family. The day we signed we met with denise who was absolutely amazing and took the time to explain everything to us and the process was so painless. The tour of our camper was great. And they even stored it for us for a couple of weeks until we could pick it up, which they also helped us get hitched up and hauled out. General RV is an amazing place! And we absolutely love our new camper. Thank you guys so much.
Worst experience ever. The only reason they get a 2 star is because of Avery. He stayed after for 2 and a half hours to make sure we were safely on our way while the rest of the business just left us in the parking lot without checking on their customers. And John, our salesman. He has tried to make everything right at all costs. They were supposed to do a full inspection of our rv and left us with trailer electrical not working, overhead vents not secure, and to top it off, our main electrical cord with wires exposed and unable to be used. We drove 6 hours and traded in our fifth wheel. They knew about our purchase a week a head of time and still didnt have the rv being looked over till the day of and left us with it not in working order. Now we have to get in inspected by someone else because I cannot trust that it is in safe and working order. So that will be more time and money spent. General rv is not anything that we expected and will never be back to one again. Ive never been more disappointed in a business in my life.
My visit was for some minor warranty concerns so I figured it would go smoothly. What I did not count on was the phenomenal treatment I got from my advisor, Clara. She was awesome. She listened, took the appropriate notes, and addressed my concerns during the visit. At the time of delivery she explained everything clearly and set my follow-up appointment. Really first class service.
Very friendly. Alan, our service advisor was awesome. We camped out in the parking lot the night before our appointment as we drove in from West Virginia. Had elec. hook up so had lights and heat. We were fixed right up and on our way camping in a couple of hours. Thank you Alan.
We were greeted and offered assistance right away. When we could not find the unit with all the options we wanted he suggested to order one in. They are even installing items that does not come standard on the unit to make sure we got what we wanted. And when it was time to do the financing, the finance manger was very helpful. He explained about the benefits of the ceramic coating they offer on the exterior of the trailers and the interior protection. Got a great loan rate with them.Even the parts salesmen was helpful with question I had about different product I was looking to get.I would differently go back to them. It is hard to find a dealer to treat you right with that big of an inventory to go look at.
I am posting my experience with general rv I bought a super c motor home in April of 2000 am still getting warranty work done that needed done just after purchase. Doug was my service writer he is no longer there.now we have tiffin the whole service experience has not been well I am posting here because I am a loss at what to do.Maybe who ever monitors this site may be able to help
I do not recommend buying a camper with them. Spent 25k on a travel trailer and brakes went out in 3 days. Told us we we on our own because we bought it as is. We have taken it to the service center to give them another shot and it took me calling them for 3-4 days multiple times a day to finally have them send me an email once with an estimate. Have been trying to get ahold of them for the last week and have left messages and yet to hear back. I DO NOT recommend buying somewhere with this type of business moto
This place is a total joke! I think I had the very experience I have ever had in anything Ive ever done in my life. Employees are sick, employees have no idea what theyre talking about, computers are down, phone numbers dont work, parts arent in stock, then they are in stock, then they actually arent in stock. I wasted an entire work day at my own expense discovering that they are incapable.
Drove 2 hours to look at a specific camper that were we told was there, only to find those are at the “Michigan location”. Then to add insult we were “upped” by a half deaf RUDE salesman who immediately sat us down and wanted all of our information, including pushing us for a budget. He basically insinuated we couldn’t afford what we were looking for. Too bad for him.... We don’t have a budget because we were looking to fall in love and spend whatever we needed to get it. Save your time. Don’t bother going to this place unless you intend to be insulted upon walking in the door** update: we DID end up buying at Camping World in Akron. GREAT EXPERIENCE. Turns out our budget was $76000 on a Keystone Cougar. Mike in sales is awesome.
A pleasant purchase experience from start to finish. All the members of their team seemed to have the customer as a first focus. The salesman gave us all the time we needed & offered suggestions to fit our RV search. The business manager/finance specialist had accurate & helpful information for purchase & protections. At pickup day, we were met in the lot by a technician to help with the trade in unit, had a personal concierge to guide us through each step, had a great walk-through assistant, and had a helpful technician for a final check & hitch review. General RV is a complete package...would definitely recommend!
I went to the General RV Center to pick out a camper last week and was met by Rob K. Rob was very patient with me and my 6 year old daughter. There is so much inventory, that Rob needed to take us on a golf cart to view different campers! I kind of had an idea of what I wanted, and Rob did a great job of helping me narrow down which camper fit our needs. Their prices are the lowest in the area, and I would recommend Rob and General RV Center.
I purchased a Grand Design 29RS a year ago. I had to have it in service for a recall item and a issue with propane smell in the coach. I was able to get the recall item taken care of. They found the source of the propane smell and werent able to fix it that day,but ordered the part needed and had me come back in the following month. Connie was very helpful and professional in my dealings with her. So far i am quite happy about the purchase and needed service. I also brought my daughter in and she bought a Transcend. We went with General RV because of Jeff Sumney who weve bought from at his previous place of employment. To all your employees who we have dealt with. Keep up the great work, you all rock it.
Unequivocally cannot recommend. Would give zero stars, if possible. Disorganized, unprofessional and poor customer service.Scheduled appointment >1 month ago, specified needed repairs for make/model. After much confusion while at the appointment today going back and forth to different departments because of unclear communication amongst General RV employees, the required repairs were not completed because they did not have the required parts. If you value your time, customer service and clear communication I would recommend you find an alternative RV store. Unfortunately I cannot recommend and will not be returning.
My husband and I stopped down to look at a few models we had seen online and talk to someone about pricing/financing. The sales guy took us out to one area then left and said hed be back. 20min later he comes back and takes us over to another area of the lot. He leaves again. By then we were done even though we had questions and were interested in one we had our eye on. We found him inside on the phone. We stood around waiting for him but by then I was ready to go.I emailed him the next day asking him about a specific model/price matching, etc. After answering his last email we never heard from him againPoor sales service, will not go back or refer anyone. We ended up purchasing ours at Avalon in Medina a few days later. We got better service between Avalon and Camping World.
Bought a 2021 Yukon Dutchman to stay in while we are waiting to get in our new place. They delivered it to our spot while I was at work I had to beat the adjusters out on steps with sledge hammer just to get in door! Once in we found the rear air isnt cooling and the first night we stayed in it the front air leaked all over our bed!!the floor by bed was supposed to be fixed but is still soft and the floor by theater seats squeaks severly. The linoleum by theater seats was tore in several spots. We contacted them and they was suppose to send somebody out that fri. And we waited there all day and no show.finally somebody came out the next Monday and said they were warnty issues and its gonna be a month til they can get to it!! Needless to say we are very disappointed in them to say the least!!!
Great customer service from General RV. I bought my first RV from them last year and they have been great about teaching me how to use it, how to maintain it, and they take great care of me when I need to bring it in for service or issues. I highly recommend General RV!!
I purchased a new Destination Trailer in July and had it delivered over an hour away. It was a simple buying process and great service overall. Even, Jason, the delivery person went above and beyond to help put it in place. Unfortunately within 6 days of ownership, one of the A/C units broke along with a few other minor issues found. I called the service department and was connected to Wayne. He scheduled a technician promptly and remained in constant communication with me. A new A/C unit had to be ordered and all is now resolved. Considering a busy time of year and they had to travel to the unit to fix it, I believe they took care of everything quickly. I recommend General RV!
In May, we purchased our second camper from General RV. To say we have been disappointed is an understatement. We have yet to stay in our camper without something being wrong with it. Our brand new camper has had many issues- shower and toilet leaking, LED lights out, water rushing in from a window during a storm, outlets coming out of the wall, and my favorite- the refrigerator breaking. All of these issues occurred within the first month of owning the camper. It has been absolutely frustrating and tiring trying to get these issues resolved through the service department. They promise to call back with information and to schedule the repair, but never call. At one point, we waited 2 weeks for someone to contact us before calling and asking to speak to a manager. The manager was apologetic, but nothing has changed in regards to recent communication to repair the refrigerator. It went out on June 19 and we contacted General RV on June 20. It took days and many phone calls to finally get an appointment on July 9 to diagnose the refrigerator issue. We had to call on July 16 to get an update on the repair, and the service rep could not even tell us if the part was ordered. That was a full week after the tech diagnosed the issue. She promised us a call on the 17th to verify it was ordered and the estimated arrival date of the part. Here I am, on the 21st writing this with no return call. I’ve read plenty of other posts from people with similar experiences with the service department. I really recommend looking elsewhere for campers because General RV does not make customer service and customer loyalty after a sale a priority.
I went there with the wife and her mother and step dad. Her mother is looking to upgrade her current 5th wheel and my wife and myself were looking for something but didnt know exactly what we wanted. The sales person immediately catered to her mom and step dad asking them a million questions. I asked may the wife and i look around we were interested in something but not that large. He replies company policy you cant view them without a representative. And went back to talking to my mother inlaw. I look around to see reps sitting doing nothing and eating. Never once offered get one to help us. I guess my 50k will remain in my pocket for now.
Went to look for an RV to compare. Told salesman what we were looking for. We let him know we had put a deposit already on one because of how quickly RVs were selling he seemed offended. We told him we wouldn’t be financing with them because we have a better rate with our local credit union we just couldn’t close on the loan prior to our house being built and closed within next 30 days. His response well we’re the “BIG Guys” we don’t hold anything even with a deposit. But I’ll still show you things. Ok well have a good day don’t waste your time. Just seemed very rude whether your a big RV dealer or not that was just rude.
This place is so unprofessional. I had an appointment to get a slide out cover put on and they sold mine to someone else. So they had to find one for me and it took 7 hours for them to put on. They showed me no proof that a inspection was done. When I got my camper home, I opened everything to make sure nothing was broke. My steps and sidewall are cracked and my floor buckles in when you step on it. I took my Camper back down here and they told me theres nothing they can do for me and they arent liable. So I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. They were so rude and non caring.
If there was an option for zero stars thats what General RV would receive from me. When I first read the reviews for their service center I couldnt believe how much negativity I read but after going there in the fall of 2020 I can understand so much more. I called to take my camper in because the slide motor was no longer able to bring my slide in. On our last camping trip we manually rolled it in. I took the camper and signed off on the diagnostic fee of 165.00 per hour to look at it. At the time I did not think much about the fact that that fee does NOT include an estimate for repair but for a diagnostic ONLY. Knowing that parts would be ordered and that during COVID time everything was backed up I had to pick up the camper and bring it back home. They were also short on workers so did not have any information about the repairs needed when I picked it up. What they DID find out was that the slide motor and transmission was not working. Soon I found out that that is exactly and ALL that I paid for. They never called back. After at least 3 attempts I got a hold of someone to hear what they had found out. They couldnt get parts for the slide. Their suggestion was to replace it. I thought that if that was my only option, then my bad luck. I would need to bring the camper back down to have it measured for a new slide and it would cost ANOTHER diagnostic fee (minimum 1 hour of course). I argued that if they had had someone there when I picked it up and if they had given me the diagnostic evaluation at that time that they could have measured it then. They said that I could measure it myself but of course if the slide didnt fit I would have to pay for it AND of it would have to be paid for before it was ordered. They couldnt give me a price range. Given that my couch, stove, sink, countertop space and cupboard are on my slide Im quite sure it would have been costly but I have NO IDEA because they didnt have that information. (Imagine!)Right now its at Hartville RV. They found a motor and are doing the repair. The motor was about $700 plus labor. They didnt mention a fee for telling me it was broken. But I would gladly pay it just for their courtesy and much appreciated QUALITY customer service. They called me the day after I took it down.I wouldnt buy a gumball from a machine at General RV let alone go to them with a camper issue or question.
So ten years ago we bought our Fleetwood motorhome from the Grand Rapids store and it has been a great coach with very minor problems. We have had nothing but good experiences with General RV and I have posted reviews in the past stating how pleased we were with them. So when my wife and I started looking at purchasing a newer coach we started by looking at General and were happy to find the Floorplan we were looking for at the Grand Rapids store the same location we purchased our last one at. I sent in the request for information on coach and reviewed message from Dan on Monday about new policy for used RVs and to call him to talk. I now have called 4 times this week and left messages twice with no call back. We took it as a sign since we still love our old motorhome which still looks new since it is garage kept and keep it. Thankyou Dan for stalling long enough to save us from buying a new coach.
We recently purchased our first RV. Our representative was Ben Ryan. Overall our sales experience was very good. Ben spent considerable time with us looking at and comparing different travel trailers with respect to floor plans, quality, and specifications especially weight with regard to towing capability. The sales process was painless and everything was handled professionally and efficiently. When we picked it up, the service representative who performed our walk-through was very patient, answered all of our questions, and recommended a number of accessories / additions and discussed them with us, which was very helpful since we are first timers. At this point, Im only rating the sales process. Because of the research I did prior to purchase, Im still concerned about the quality of the RV and the service / support I can expect from General RV. We had General RV winterize our unit and have not used it yet, so I can only hope any problems we encounter will be minimal.
My first time buying an RV my sales person was Kristina Good and she was very good !! She made sure to explain everything to us and if she didn’t know the answer she would find out right then also gave us her card and said call anytime if you need anything and if I don’t know the answer then i will find someone to help, Kristina Good and the people who work at General RV made us feel like family!!! We picked up the RV yesterday decided to sleep in it last night we are still learning because there is a lot to learn but we enjoyed our first night , we decided to take it for a drive this afternoon but we couldn’t get the slides to go in and we tried everything first person I called was Kristina she told us everything she knew but it still didn’t work she put me on with a tech he tried everything he knew then they sent a tech out within an hour named Jay he checked fuses ,then the battery and fixed the problem within 10 mins !! We let the battery get to low We still are learning a lot !! Kristina Good , Jay and Brandon thank you for such awesome service and for taking care of us ! Truly are great people 😊 Looking for and RV I recommend them highly !!! Thank you again .
General RV Center is by far the best place for warranty work and repairs that I have experienced so far. They are professional and great with communication. I worked with Alan Azar to handle warranty repairs for my unit and my father’s unit. I highly recommend working with Alan and General RV. Thanks!
Our 2019 Keystone Montana has been in and out of service since purchased new two years ago. We picked it up last week after two months for a roof leak due to incorrect installation of the rear AC during manufacturing.Abbie Crowe in service was excellent. She is a real asset to your service department.I feel I need to take this opportunity to warn buyers about Keystone products, quality has gone downhill since bought out by Thor. I have done a lot of research. I dont know if it will take buyers along with dealers to make Keystone understand the anguish they put customers through with their bad quality. For most people it can be a struggle to make payments on these units. We should not have to deal with poor quality. But for the most part, General RV had been there to assist with the fight against Keystone.
This is more of a BUYER BEWARE statement. Ive not purchased from General nor am I likely to after reading the reviews. Specifically, the negative reviews which are primarily from those who have recently purchased from this dealer and experienced an all too common issue when attempting to get after the sale service. When you purchase a product from ANY dealer, there is the expectation that said dealer will want to continue the relationship and preserve its customer base through excellent service after the sale. This is what you SHOULD expect and what dealers SHOULD deliver. The best way to gauge if that is in fact the case is to read the negative comments, note the dates of those comments and see if there is a pattern of behavior that you might wish to avoid. The Honeymoon Period is a bad time to write reviews. Your mind is clouded with expectations and very often those are unrealistic. Many folks write their reviews BEFORE they ever receive their RVs so theyre talking about how friendly and accommodating their sales staff is. This should be the LEAST of your concerns. When youre plopping down a big chunk of cash you want to make sure youre getting value for your dollar. Youll be dealing with issues long after this initial smoke clears, ALL RVs have them. Thats when and where youll find out if you bought at the right place. The onus is on YOU to do your due diligence. Read the reviews and take the time to travel if you must in order to buy from the right place. Write your own contracts that clearly outline what you expect and how you expect to be compensated should those expectations NOT be met. This is how you protect yourself (believe me, no one else is going to be looking out for you).If we all take the time to hold dealerships to a higher standard theyll have little choice but to provide that standard or go back to selling used cars.
Went in on a Friday, told them what we were looking for, stood around and waited to see if someone was available to help us. Salesman that came up never gave his name, was very short with us, didnt even want to take the time to talk about what we were looking for in an RV or show us anything. We ordered our brand new RV from somewhere else the next day.
We purchased our camper about a month ago and salesman was very friendly but I believe he could get a little more training on what is offered. We asked about a instant hot water heater for our camper and was told that it was not something that could be done. However when doing the walk through, we were told yes we could. Who is correct? We have some issues with the camper and have called service department, they took message to call back . 3 days I called again still couldn’t get anyone. Had some help from the financial gentleman, he sent email and I was called back. Listed problems with him and told me would call back. That was almost 3 weeks ago. We have bought many campers and never been as disappointed and disrespected by a Dealership as we have here. Service department really needs to step up their game. Anyone can by from a dealership but what has them coming back is the service. ☹️
Had i wrote this review right after walking in the door or after signing the papers for my brand new 2021 Forrest river wildwood travel trailer it would be 5 stars... i purchased this July of 2020... just hours after getting my brand new shiny camper home it was nothing but problems in the first use of my camper not even an hour after having it set up my husband daughter & i were sitting in the camper when it just dropped.. we rushed out of the camper to find that 2 of our stabilizers broke... unfortunately it was around 9pm so we had to wait until the next morning to call to have this issue resolved an hour or so goes by we were about to head to bed annoyed & worried about our large purchase that already had a major issue as we went to go settle in for the night we closed the awning & part of it had ripped off the camper... by this point we are extremely upset & started to regret our purchase that we thought would be something we would love & enjoy for years before ever having problems... went to bed called first thing in the morning to have it fixed & to our surprise they said it was not covered & in order to fix it was going to cost us thousands... they said we needed to bring it in but the stabilizers would not retract back up into the camper to drive the hour back to general rv, so they said the could send someone out to disconnect them so we could bring it in but it was going to cost us... & then had to pay per mile to get to us! HOURS AFTER PURCHASING! Tried calling & emailing multiple times to have these issues fixed under warranty & no answer! Later on we had another issue where the slide out stopped working so we could not get it back in to hook up and leave we were stuck at the campground for multiple days trying to get that serviced as well... we got that fixed & hoped and prayed we could go camping just one time without some major problem happening, so we tried again went camping & everything seemed fine packed up to go home. Got our camper home popped out the slides so i could get it all cleaned out... when popping out the slides i heard a loud noise went to the bunk room an noticed that our closet door was hanging on by a thread... (none of the cabinets or doors latch well as you can tell this was very cheaply made & seems they just threw these together quickly) while we were driving the closet door must have come unlatched so when we popped the slides back out it ripped it completely off ... here we are almost a year later & still have not had one of these issues resolved... after reading reviews seeing people with the same problem one thing someone said really stuck out to me & the said “once you sign those papers they are done with you” & it is so true.. THEY DONT CARE... they got their money... $34k cash in hand for nothing but more problems... all we wanted was a nice camper to make memories as a family but all we received was JUNK!
We were not given anyone to talk to about the campers. The sales guy gave us a ride on the golf cart to want we were interested in and never came back. Then while we were checking out campers, a guy stopped and said what are you doing out here we close at 4 and please get on so I can take you back.. We had no idea that they closed at 4.
We recently purchased a Grand Design from General RV in Canton. Let me name some outstanding people who made our experience at this stellar RV dealership.Denise in accounting who went out of her way to do the BEST for us.Scott and Rob the sales gentlemen who assisted us. And Dominic who went over our RV to make sure we knew how everything worked. This was not our first RV or our first experience at a dealership. They were BY FAR the best. GO THERE!Great place
I advise everyone who reads reviews to take this into consideration I wish i did read some before i started here, the staff at general RV (in ohio) was absolutely horrible more specifically the management they’re extremely rude and cut you off every chance they get. Very disorganized as far as getting back to you and dealing with the same person which is how I ended up talking to the management in the first place. On top of the worst customer service i’ve ever experienced trying to buy anything they wanted me to put a 2,000 deposit down in order just to see if I was approved but that is their “policy”. I just decided to move on and keep looking elsewhere i’m not sure about other general rv locations but i strongly advise staying clear from Ohio’s branch they are nothing but rude sketchballs and i’m glad they did not get one red cent from me.
Sales was a pleasure to work with. To bad after that they do not stand behind anything they sell as a extra. Roof topper sags, not their problem. They have to consult manufacturer.Rv purchased 9/2019 Problem with 30k+ rv started from the walk through. Fridge door could not be opened with one hand. We were assured it would be fixed before pick on on 4/2020. Took camper to permanent site 20 mins away, at a permanent site and of course the fridge door didnt work properly. Notified general about issuse. Black out shades were not functioning properly, and had water leak. Keep in mind generalrv.com was supposed to winterize after the walk through. Under the broken plumbing there was no visible anti freeze at all. No problem Ill fix it myself.Repair tech schedules appointment for today (10/29/2020) 9 am. Shows up at 130 after being told we were the 1st appointment. Blinds were wrong ones, and door handle still not fixed. Over a year later and still no working door for the fridge. If you are thinking of buying anything from this location please read the reviews on facebook. True horror stories from the service department. STAY AWAY FROM GENERAL.
General RV has some outstanding staff members that made the buying and service staff exceptional. We traded in our 2017 Fleetwood to purchase a 2020 Tiffin. Dan White was our sales associate and he worked very hard to get us the deal we wanted and insure we were happy. Dan Gordish and Tim Nicholson as sales managers are incredible in addition to Josh and Mike. Adam did a great job on our demo and made sure he answered all our questions. Mike and Abbie on the service side also did an incredible job getting the coach ready and making sure everything was perfect for us. Great job by the entire organization.
I was really happy with my sales experience, however, once the sale is made they are done with you. We drove 7 hours to purchase our brand new travel trailer. Upon getting it home there were a few things broken that were overlooked at pick up. One of the storage locks was damaged and cannot be locked, an interior air vent wont open, and the mini fridge in the outdoor kitchen wont turn on. Its been weeks since picking my RV and still no resolution on these things. Very disappointed.
We purchased a Coachmen travel trailer in January. Since then we have been nothing but pleased with General RV. The sales staff, finance department and service department are awesome. The sales person listened to what we were looking for and showed us the different trailers available. Pam, in finance, went over every detail with us and explained all the different options that were available to us. Dr. Bill held seminars to inform us on all aspects of owning an RV. He emphasized practicality and safety. The service department is very friendly and efficient. Thank you.
Didnt correctly repair my issue with wipers. Said it was the motor had it replaced only to go down the freeway and had the same issue. So no I wouldnt recommend them. Found out I needed the whole system replaced and had them check the old motor and they said it was perfectly good. So I got charged for a motor and shop time for nothing. Ashley was the service adviser she was nice yet didnt do the correct repair due to their shop not investigating the problem as described to them.
7-27-2018......Well, #generalRV has definitely let me down. I would not recommend them to my worse enemy at this time. The owner sends a response which appears to be a corporate response with no actual intentions of helping the customer they are just trying to look good online...Well, when the operations manager said he wasnt going to come out and fix my RV till I took this review down, he was honest. Remember i purchased this #RV on mothers day now they still have not fixed my RV, and the young lady that takes orders from her boss has let me know they will try to squeeze me in in August. No make us think about this I have already paid over $40,000 for a camper from them, and they have already been paid, so they are more worried about customers who have not spent any money and are potential service work than they are of a customer who has spent their hard earn money with them. Now its been several months since we purchased this RV from general RV in north canton Ohio and our warranty is still expiring by the day. Not to mention we yet have not been able to use our new washer/dryer combo unit. So that is an update i will try to update my story on a weekly basis at this point I kept from posting more since the manager threatens not to do any service work on my unit now or in the future since I have a negative opinion about their service department and sales department. And yes I will be reaching out to #keystone who is the manufacture of our RV.Thank you all for reading and watch for our new website which if you have had a problem you will be able to post your story and opinion about general RV even if its not the Canton Ohio store and for all stories we publish we will send you a t-shirt with full process color with the website and your link to where out in public proud so you can help discourage other innocent customers from being lied to or just being bullied by the manager. Thanks Again please like and support my story organically reach the top of Google.
We bought a class A Winnebago. Price was good. Warranty work is always needed on a new product and we were very happy with the service dept here. They were friendly and professional. Work was done when we scheduled. No delays, camper back to us in one day as they had said. Quality work!
Hey there fellow campers, outdoorsmen and women, families or travelers, if you want a truly awesome and friendly camper or travel trailer purchasing experience, then you need to come and see the folks here at General RV. Look, Im a mountaineer from West Virginia and I didnt think there were any people who were more friendly than fellow West Virginians.Well let me tell you, when I walked into the General RV center there in Canton, Ohio, I literally felt like I was walking in moms kitchen. The fine folks there interacted with me as if they had known me all of their lives, or like I was family. There were no long lines, the paperwork was quick and simple, and the gentleman that gave me the grand tour of my newly purchased camper was very knowledgeable about the unit and its operation. The dedication, professionalism and hospitality displayed by the fine folks there at General RV reflects very highly upon the individual employees, as well as the top notch company (General RV) they work for. This my friends is what customer service is all about! Thank you General RV for treating me as one of your own.Dan-WV
My wife and I had a great experience today with Jeremy Darts. We told him we are looking to get a pull behind camper in the near future. He did a great job at not being pushy. We let him know what we are looking for and he pointed us in the right direction. Definitely going to earn a sale from us when we can finally decide on what we want. Thank you Jeremy.
The selection of new and used travel trailers was better organized at this location than other surrounding dealers. The buying experience was a friendly one, where I really felt like the quality of service I was being provided was top notch. The walk through of my new travel trailer helped me understand everything I needed to know about my travel trailer to allow me to feel comfortable since this was my first time buying a camper. I had a great experience.
Worst experience Ive ever had buying any type of vehicle! They charge 1500$ to go over your camper the all of the sisor Jacks are rotted out broken coffee pot under the sink mouse droppings under the slide out dead bolt lock on the entry door not working they told me that they were going to replace the ac unit on the roof and It does not work water damage in the nose of the camper E-brake wires disconnected and when I call about the issues Im haveing they always say we will call you back with no response for a week not impressed
Despite everything crazy happening with covid and being backed up at the shop from an over abundance of new sales the service staff was fantastic. Specifically, a super friendly service staff named Clara, who helped us every step of the way. Her communcation on keeping us up to date on our coach, even when she was on vacation, was more than we could ask for! The final day of picking our coach up she met me on her day off to do so! Most would not do that! Thank Clara! Thank General Rv service staff for making our experience a good one! We love our new Discovery motor coach!
From the moment we walked in until the hand shake good bye, we felt welcomed and very much appreciated. We were only looking for a future RV, but found one we loved and couldnt pass up the incredible deal they gave us. If you want a RV company that keeps their word and follows through with everything they say, then you have found them. I would like to make special mention about Jeremy, Adam, Maynard and Denise. Each one played a huge role in the great experience we encountered there at General RV. I want to thank them for their expertise in helping us, since this is the first RV my husband and I have ever owned. We saw excellent customer service through out every department that helped us when we bought we were there. :) What a wonderful feeling to know there are businesses out there that truly care about their customers!
My wife and I were met by Matt one of the salesman we told him what we were looking for and he showed us what we wanted to see. He took his time, answered all of our questions and treated us like family. He helped us find the perfect 5th wheel for our needs. We were a little apprehensive about doing the final deal, let me tell you that the sales manager and the finance lady were absolutely outstanding! Kudos to General Rv in Canton!
My wife and I were looking for a used Class C motor home. We visited General RV and some of their competitors. General RVs team is very knowledgeable in the industry and open to discuss the pros and cons of different RV manufacturers. They led us to the quality level that was best suited for our goal. This was not the case at other dealers. We ultimately purchased from General RV and we were impressed with each team member that helped service us. I am writing this review from our new RV and could not be happier.
I talked to Randy Wilson in the part department to get a quote for some items on my RV. He said to send him an email with the request. I did and he never responded. I sent another email to Randy and Tom Royce responded saying that Randy past the request to him. Asked Tom for a quote. He never sent it. Ive sent several emails over several weeks and no response. Ended up buying somewhere else. VERY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!
There was no high pressure sales. And even though I bought from a salesman (Jeremy) not from the N. Canton store while at the Cleveland RV Show, I was treated no differently. Additionally, my tech (Dominic) did a great job with the PDI/demo. He recommended additional purchases, but again no pressure. I did buy most of them since they were aligned with my interests. Since we were on a timeline, Dominic got extra guys on our work order to get us out on time. And even though the work was completed 15 late, mainly due to our additional questions, the team apologized for the delay, none of which was their fault. They were very professional. The service guys (David) on the floor took all the time we needed to help install the additional equipment for our Andersen Ultimate hitch king pin adapter. They were great and took all the time we needed to assist and/or answer questions. Emil applied no pressure for additional coverage I did not want, allowing me to buy only what I needed. It was a top rate experience all around. Very professional. I only hope my after purchase experience, support and responsiveness is equally as good. All of this I have shared with those who asked.
Easy sale for them, we did not haggle price bought all their warranties and protections. Many service issues remain unresolved after 2 months. They have not contacted me since Aug. 31st on my warranty issues with any updates even after sending them and THOR poor surveys. It took them 6 hours to replace a blind, caulk a vent, secure a panel and secure the radio in its housing after it had fallen out, I was told this would take 3-4 hours. After 4 hours I showed up and it seems they had just started the repairs. I have a list of 11 new items in addition to the 4 items that remain from the first service appointment. It seems once the sale is complete they do not care. As I told them in an email the VIP lanyard and calendar give the false impression that you are a valuable customer. I also informed them that my next RV will not be purchased from them and I will be purchasing within the year. I would not recommend General RV due to the extremely poor service!
Purchased a brand new Thor ACE 33.1 and had a horrible experience. Could not get in touch with anyone from service for 3 days. They did not answer their phone and it went straight to a voice mail. Once I did get in contact someone I had to reply to an email with my issues and an appointment wasnt made for another 12 days.My experience thus far after purchasing a brand new Thor motor coach.1. Ripped awning on delivery2. Leak coming in through a window or seal3. Kitchen sink drain leaks (after they claim they fixed it)4. Steering wheel not aligned properly5. Rubber boot on positive terminal on generator is ripped6. Compartment latch does not close on one of the doors7. Every tire was 40lbs low on delivery (I fixed this)8. Generator does not stay running while driving9. Blu ray player only works on 1 tv, I was told during the walk through it would work on ALL tvs.10. After the walk through the external water heater cover was left unlatched and did not see this until I arrived at home.11. After the walk through the storage compartment with a broken latch was left open during travel. I did not see this until I arrived at home.Took it in for service and although they stated some issues were fixed, and other issues needed to have parts ordered, I now have to make another visit to get the issues resolved.
I had a great experience. Kieth, Dan and Emil were great to deal with. Made the transaction easy and accommodated me at every turn. Extremely happy with quality and price of the unit. The service was top notch and I would definitely recommend General. Ask for Kieth Riley.
The guy with the moose was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the entire process. I think He was more excited about the camper we purchased then we were. He thoroughly inspected the camper and showed us what to look for. It just made us more comfortable with our decision. We are very pleased with our experience at General RV. Thank you.
My wife and I were very pleased with our sales rep. John Taylor he was awesome he informed us of things we werent aware of. Emil was great with the financial side of the house. I can not find anything that I am not happy with. I thank all the employee at General Rv for support. Thank you from Sue and Joe ingiosi
Crazy the way they try to sell , pull up a bunch of expensive units then miraculously find one lonely unit at a huge deal- no pressure to buy !! But once that one special unit sells your SOL . Great tactic for inexperienced purchasers, also they will give you way over trade in price ( sight unseen) cause they like you soooo much . On a good note the inventory is huge .
Very well organized and orchestrated. Kristina Good was extremely patient, insightful, and informative. After viewing many C-classs she learned what we liked & didnt like, then showed us what she thought we would like - and that was it, the one we ended up buying. With her experience we negotiated a price with the financial person.Newbees be advised - the decision-making isnt over at that point, so dont relax. Theres a Business Manager to guide you through Loan consideration, GAP insurance, Tyron tire protection, ECP paint & interior protection, Tire Shield, Coach-Net insurance, CornerStone extended warranty, and final sale. They support your purchase in all facets (or perhaps negatively, consider this more selling pressure).A Technician will go over your purchase to correct agreed upon deficiencies, or for new, everything. Before you drive off, a Delivery Specialist will show and explain everything about your RV, asking the Tech to fix what you might discover. The D.S. will show you the Accessory area and advise items you may want to purchase. We discovered our camera didnt come on in reverse even though the camera worked. We noticed a couple other adjustments. They had us bring it back the next day and fixed or addressed everything at no charge. The Service Area is incredibly busy, so if you wait, plan to spend the day and bring a lunch. My only suggestion would be that they have a microwave sandwich vendor machine in the Service area. They do have a notebook of local area food delivery services, but are mostly pizza-type food. Nothing is really within walking distance other than the Sales building across the road which has pop and snacks.Overall, we are quite pleased with the process and purchase.
I visited General RV for the first time this past weekend. I have been to all the area RV dealerships from Canton to Sandusky to evaluate our next purchase and this location had a couple models on our short list. This is being posted as a public service announcement that if you are at all concerned about people not following preventative transmission guidelines, then this would be the place to avoid. I understand the counter arguments, and you very well may be correct, the masks might not help. And likewise, you may be wrong and put others at risk. I do not like risking the health of others, and I wish others would feel the same about me. People may ask why we were out if we felt a threat to our health is a concern. Primarily I can answer that by saying if everyone took the precautions, then we would be half way back to having a normal way of life. Every other dealership we entered (in the building or not) made it a priority that we were met by staff who were prepared to deal with people in this pandemic haze.
The initial purchase was great. Customer service since then has been poor. You pay a lot and get a little. For example, I paid $220 to get my RV winterized. $75 of that was for a 1/2 hour of a technician’s time to show me the process so that I could learn it. In reality, I watched the guy do it for me super fast while he barely explained what he was doing. Never smiled once. It was more like I was inconveniencing him. I got 10 minutes of his time (paid for 30).
I purchased a pre owned toy hauler from out of state and was provided accurate, honest answers to all of my questions. The knowledgeable sales associate took time to review the unit multiple times to accurately describes all features and condition so a reasonable deal could be reached. Pick up at the dealership went efficiently and smoothly. We are enjoying our new RV.
Thanks everyone for making today go super smooth! Everyone from the lot crew gets an A+ today. My husband had arm/hand surgery after our camper was ordered and could not help me get the cover off the trade in to unload before we picked up the new one. I called ahead to ask for help. The team helped by not only taking the cover off but helped me unload a section of the camper I couldnt get to because I couldnt open the slides with the cover on. It was bitter cold and I told them I would be fine and they helped me get the camper unloaded and contents into my vehicle. Dominic did a great walk through with us and Rob in financing got the process done painlessly. We will recommend you and General RV to all we know!
Watch out for Service Dept pricing! I got quoted just over $900 to mount all of the gear to flat tow our car. We already had all of the brand new parts. They tore it apart, started the work, then demanded $600+ more because they said they forgot the hours to install the brakes!! Its a standard setup, how do you forget unless you mean to bait and switch?!?! I drove 2.5 hours each way, four times total, to get their service at a reasonable price. And Im still getting ripped off. BEWARE. If I wanted to pay almost $1600 I could have done that much faster and closer to home. What a RIPOFF.
They got me into my first travel trailer! I am so excited and the staff was uniformly friendly. Pam the finance manager said it best when she stayed that they are like a, well oiled machine. Everyone had a part and knew what they were doing in the somewhat complex process. I recommend General RV to anyone looking for a recreational vehicle.
This review is for the service department. Our camper was there for over a month for extremely minor warranty work. We were lied to about the status of the claim. I eventually had to call the camper manufacturer myself only to find out the work was approved 3 weeks prior. The managers were little to no help. When the work was finally complete, we made an appointment for pick up and were told we would be the first ones that day. We arrived 15 minutes early and the person we were supposed to see was with someone else. We were told we could only meet with this certain manager and that the other people had an appointment before us. We had to wait 45 minutes after our appointment time (1 hour total) to even see our camper. The repairs were ok, not super and the inside was filthy! They had to sand something and there was a thick layer of dust everywhere. Overall I was very disappointed with their service and lack of response. Even though this review is not about the sales portion of General RV, I would seriously consider not buying from them again because I would have to use their service department.
My husband and I purchased a fifth wheeler from general RV on October, 31st, 2015 and are very disappointed with their customer services. General RV promised us a thermal package to be added to the price of our purchased and we came to find out that this thermal package does not exist. The first year we had it in Ohio, our pipes froze. We attempted to go back to General RV to get this resolved and they stated that we should get a hold of the makers of our fifth wheeler. Prime Time informed us that it was not their agreement and that general RV had to deal with it since they offered us this thermal package General RV agreed to fix the pipes but wanted to charge us for it when we already paid for this thermal package. We also had issues with the heater after a year of the purchase. The next issue we had was when an outlet came out of the wall which is very dangerous because of exposed wires and General RV refused to send us another one. General RV expected us to go to a hardware store for these items at our own expense and time. Im very angry that I made a big purchase and have had so many issues with this camper and I have received no help from general RV where we purchased it from. I would never recommend this particular company, General RV because they have poor customer services and i do not stand by their agreements!
I took my family to General RV in North Canton, Ohio today to rent a vehicle for vacation. After reviewing their website for rentals and pricing thereof and then driving 30 minutes to get there, i was told at front desk that they do not rent RVs. Please update your website to represent this fact. Also, why were employees not wearing masks? Please take your customers safety into account. Totally rude in several ways and I would not recommend General RV to my friends.
**BEWARE**Please see BBB for full complaint. Fellow RV consumers BEWARE!! Go elsewhere!! Long story short: GENERAL RV and KEYSTONE will sell you a “brand-new” camper that is faulty and defective, with water leaks and other major issues, within a few months of purchase and expect you to be satisfied. Within a few months of ownership our camper had sustained water damage twice from a faulty roof, allowing water to get in the ceiling, behind the walls, and onto the floor under the carpet. General RV and Keystone do not think this is a big deal. We had a second opinion and they told us that this camper will be rotted and molded within a year or 2. It was 6 months old at this time. The long story is too long to post on here, but we would be happy to email it to all concerned consumers. DO NOT let General RV and Keystone take your money as they did with us. We have water and electrical damage to our brand new camper and both of these companies do not seem too concerned. They essentially just read off of a script and keep jerking you around to wear you out. This will not be swept under the rug. Our attorneys have said that they have had many issues with both of these companies and they are only getting worse. We will post every day to alert our fellow consumers of these scam companies. No hard working consumer should have to go through what we have been through. There is a plethora of other ethical and quality rv dealerships and manufacturers out there. We have had between 10-15 issues with this within a year. Including faulty wiring, where someone ran a staple in the wire and shorted everything out. RUN!!! We have pictures, videos, and a detailed statement if any consumer needs it. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! We know we are not alone. Please share your experience so no other consumer has to go through this nightmare. Attached is a picture of the quality craftsmanship that these companies do. This is a fix to a sagging defective roof. Screwed over the roof into the wood that has already been wet. Caulking slung all over the slide. NOT ACCEPTABLE!
We are just beginning the search for our retirement RV. Spent about 45 minutes today being educated on the construction, durability and usability of various brands and styles. Even though they knew we will not be buying until next spring they took the time to show us around and answered every question we had. No high pressure, no rush. Very much appreciated! Be sure to talk to the Guy with the Moose! He will definitely help you out.
My husband and I would like to offer a belated thank you to Brian Piper, Service Manager. Brian went out of his way a few weeks ago to provide us with a service call while we were out camping to resolve an issue of great concern to us. The service technician, Chris was top notch. He was able to identify and fix the problem. He is very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. We greatly appreciate everything that was done for us!
We were camping last week and temperature was in low 30s with rain and wind when our heater quit working. We called General RV and spoke with Cher Thomas who forwarded us to Stuart Smiley. They both were very polite and helpful. Stuart told us what he thought the problem was and gave step by step instructions how to fix it. Within minutes we had heat! Thanks so much to General RV, Cher, and Stuart for helping us be warm. Great job! Love General RV!
Another major let down. Warranty - management apologizes for the short comings of the technician doing the work. Extremely poor workmanship - no pride!Bottom line - the more management apologizes, the more trips needed to General RV.One very important thought - as I read these reviews I see that the owners comments make us feel important. I would love to have the owner join me when I am going over the completed warranty work - Or better yet - have the owner have some warranty work done there.
Everyone that I dealt with, service, sales and financing were all polite and friendly. All questions I had got answered. One area I was a little disappointed in, the day and time that was scheduled by General RV for us to pick up our coach, it was not cleaned, and or areas that were a concern were not completed/ repaired resulting in us setting in the waiting lounge for around an hr. While our coach was cleaned and the items of concern repaired. We arrived at 10:25 for a 10:30 apt. and left with our coach at 2:30.
I have a brand new camper 2017 I called General RV Center because I have an issue with it. Now it is under manufacture warranty and the service member agreed he then proceeded to ask me if I purchased from them. I informed him that I did not purchase from them. Then he informed me that since I didnt purchase from them that there wasnt anything he could do that they only work on campers they sell because they are to busy. Didnt say hey we are busy but in 3 months we can get you in no he said no were not working on it. Now I live very close to this dealership and need many things for my new camper but I can say this they will not see a dime of my money. My best friend also was looking at a camper they have because he is impressed with mine. I told him how I was treated and now he is looking at another dealership to buy from. So with one unhappy customer comes a 20 - 40k loss on a sale just bad bad customer service.............
Everyone!! Everyone we spoke to, whether they were helping us or not, were very polite and helpful with every question or concern we had when making the decision to purchase a Travel Trailer. Jonathon-Our sales Rep was excellent and done everything we asked. Dave-our Demo guy, was also excellent in helping us understand how to use and operate everything with our camper. we really appreciate all the help and wonderful service!
I am a Monaco Class A RV owner looking for a long-term relationship with an organization that can service my coach. General RV of North Canton Ohio is supposed to be and stated that they are an Authorized service center for Monaco.Well that is only true if you buy your coach from them. The Service Department Rep said, I am sorry you didnt buy it from us so we cant take you in right now. We need to take care of our loyal customers first. This gives me a clear indication of the customer service I can expect from this place. More than likely even if you did try to buy from them the customer treatment after the fact will most likely be an issue. If this organization is truly wanting to cultivate a loyal customer base they have a very poor method of making it happen.Do yourself a favor and dont bother with General RV of North Canton Ohio. They have very clearly indicated they are not interested in new customers.....I cannot recommend this organization for your service needs under any circumstances.
Our salesman was very helpful an showed us several different styles and floorplans and there was no pressure. The parts department was excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. As for service, there were (are) still a few things that were missed on the prep and we are still waiting (a month now) on some parts to fix those problems. This is our first RV and we are really enjoying it so far
Kudos Kevin!!!We just purchased a Class A Motor Home and I have never driven one. Sales Rep Kevin took me out for a practice drive. He is an excellent instructor. He taught me everything I needed to know to feel comfortable driving it home. Kevin is very knowledgeable about motor homes. Thanks Kevin,Judy Hill
We purchased our motor home 5 years ago and returned last year to buy another camper for quick trips. Decided to trade our motor home in on a toy hauler to meet our needs. Jeremy showed us a variety of Grand Designs until we chose a 320g which we also researched online. We called General and requested Jeremy to be our salesperson. We dealt with Rob in finance previously and once again he handled details. Adam gave us a very thorough walk through and answered all our questions. Service was great with communications as we had to find the right 5th wheel hitch.I have edited this and removed a star since we ordered Lipperts Patio Wall Armors windows. The first set came in, no issue - but that was only 1/2 of the windows. Keeping in mind this is a 2 hour drive - my wife went to get the 2nd set of windows - only to get there and was told the windows (or some of them) were broken and would have to be reordered - ok, no problem accidents happen. Then a week later she gets a call to go get the windows, and comes home with the same windows (how does a window the same size slide over top of the first?) Now, with the coronavirus goings on, service is down to a few. So my wife calls and told that they will look into it. It is over a week and we have no call. Considering we have over $2,000 into this, itd be nice to have the windows.Thinking outside the box a bit, I called Lippert themselves to find the windows - only to get a customer service rep that apparently didnt think effective customer service was a good idea and told me I cant find those part numbers, go back and ask the dealer. I dont know about any of you, but if I told anyone that, I wouldnt have a job.Lets see what happens next!Well, another week has gone by, and no call back - matter of fact during this whole time that weve been trying to get the windows right (before this whole Covid experience), my wife has had to call and call and call each and every time, even though folks keep telling her theyll call her back. Apparently buying an RV, a travel trailer and a fifth wheel ($153,000) has no bearing on the service that you get.Sales folks and finance folks are great - always returning calls. So, tomorrow well see what happens when we call again - probably going down to 2 stars next. The end of the story - no one from service has ever called us back. After roughly 20 calls to them - and folks promising to call us back each and every time my wife called, but we got no return calls. So, lesson learned! Well just eat the $300 for the windows and get them from a friend that works for a window company. Apparently they dont believe in good customer unless you are spending a ton of money buying a new trailer/RV/fifth wheel. Finance folks followed up to make sure we were showing up with a ton of money to buy the trailer - which we did. But no one from service or the service liaison has ever called us back regarding the windows, exchanging the windows for the right ones, or ever even called us back.
My husband I purchased an RV at the Cleveland RV show through General RV. The salespeople were very kind and helpful at the show as well as at the North Canton location. One thing that was frustrating was that we were not told of some upgrades until we were doing the walk-through. Dropping another $1250 was not something that I had anticipated and this information would have been greatly appreciated at the time of purchase so that I could plan for these upgrades. We have had some issues with the RV and talking to someone in service who actually knows what they are talking about is difficult. Sometimes calling to talk to anyone can be difficult and frustrating. I usually run a 50/50 chance of someone even answering the phone. Were waiting to see how things continue to go. Hopefully it gets better.
Very slow call back and poor communication! Our friends bought a used camper and recieved a few free items such as chairs, cups. We spent alot of money and hardly got a thank you! This was our second new camper we bought new at General Rv and NOT happy with our experience!! Also found out we was supposed to receive new chairs from Voltage we didnt receive.. Not a happy customer.
This is our first time purchasing from General RV, let alone a new camper! Very pleased with our experience there, felt very comfortable and not pressured. Everyone was very professional and extremely pleased with our sales person (THE GUY WITH THE MOOSE!)....he was AWESOME! Would highly recommend him and General RV to anyone.
If i could give negative stars I would!! Sales doesnt care about anything but MAKING a sale, they dont care about you after they get their commission check! But the real problem is dealing with their service department, they have been the most difficult - getting appointments and then getting warranty work has been a joke !! Once I got the appointment they are trying to charge me for WARRANTY work!! I will be reaching out to the cooperate headquarters to get a resolution as i cannot get anyone to deal with me to resolve at the local level!!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
The purchase process was very smooth. The staff we all friendly and very helpful throughout the purchase process. We never felt rushed or pressured. After the sale the service department was responsive and very considerate of our time. I recommend General RV of North Canton to anyone looking to purchase or service an RV.
I will leave my review from 2017, but 2019 brought a new experience. I talked to Greg who spend a lot of time on the phone with me showing me different units. But when we went the Prime Time line that they are carrying just looks cheap. And the price he gave me over the phone did not include about $1,800 in hidden fees. We went to two other dealers and they did not have the freight and prep charges as an add on. Their advertised price was it. We got a much better built camper with more amenities way cheaper. Felt like the General was trying to take us for a ride this time.WOW! What a difference from the place 10 miles North. The camper store north of them was not ready for us and not ready to deal with a couple with good credit and money to put down. The General was ready. I cant say enough good about our sales experience with Justin. He called twice to confirm our arrival and what we wanted to look at. When we got there after leaving CW, he had all the campers we wanted to see open and ready. We decided on a barely used 2016 and he worked us a great deal. We shook hands and put the money down, and scheduled to pick it up 4 days later. Now for the bad and the reason I did not give it a 5. The pick up process was not as good. They give you a VIP tag and make you feel special. We needed to have an electric brake installed and I think they waited to get that started. We did the walk through of our camper and that went well and they had it nice and clean. They fixed a few minor things we asked for. But then we were sent to camping store to look around for the second time. Its a small store. We waited and waited and waited for the electric brake. They finally came out and said it will be about 30more minutes. 1 hour later they came out and said the guy was on his way back with the needed parts. During this time we are starving. The coffee pot was empty and no popcorn. It was a long process and the service was lacking.Pam in finance was also great!!
We were traveling from Texas and we had our battery box fall out of the RV dragging the battery down the road. I called 10 RV stores until we found General RV in Canton. We worked with Jeff Cheetham to get the part from the battery box manufacturer vs the RV manufacture since we only had 2 days in town. Jeff managed to order the boxes and have them overnighted to us the next day! His follow up and commitment to get us back on the road was amazing! We are truly grateful for his expertise in the industry and how to get parts delivered fast! Thank you Jeff!
We had a great experience purchasing our first camper here! The man with the moose (to our son he was the man with the LEGO’s) was so helpful and made the process so easy, especially helping keep our kids occupied while we went through the process. We would highly recommend visiting General RV if your in the market for an RV.
We just bought our first camper. We loved our salesman, John Taylor. But now that it is time to winterize it, I can not reach the service department. Filled out a service form on their website and still have not heard back. Tried calling and get the voicemail and leave a message and still nothing!
Technicians are great friendly people. Sales parts and general management are horrible! My parents had a camper they bought and blew a converter took it down to get fixed since it was under warranty. They received a 1 yrc warranty from purchase date. The camper sat there almost all summer! It was there from July until mid September. They received the parts the first week of August to fix it. Kept getting the run around. Terrible customer service. Will never go back. Save your money and go elsewhere.
This was the second rv dealership in the area we visited and should have been the first. Everyone was great to deal with from receptionist through finance manager. We dealt with Kevin Ketler in sales and he was thorough, knowledgeable and low key. He followed up as our deal progressed and was very responsive to calls and emails. We bought a 32 foot class C. Finance manager Denise was very helpful and polite through the process. I would highly recommend this dealership.
Purchased a motorhome used. After our first weekend trip with the coach we are dealing with a a laundry list of problems with this unit. Spoke with the service manager from the Dover Florida branch where it was purchased and he was dismissive regarding all of the problems. If these are not addressed I will update with a list of all of the problems that were pre-existing. When purchasing they charged me over a thousand dollars to review all aspects of the motorhome and make sure its okay. General has had more time with this unit than I have since weve purchased it.
This was our 2nd purchase from General RV and Mike T our sales guy was great. He did what it took to earn our business. Emil, the finance guy went out of his way to make doing business easy and painless. We purchased our rig online and General RV delivered to our door step. Awesome experience. Highly recommend.
Bought a brand new Avenger this year and have had nothing but problems.Alan A. From the service department is a huge disappointment and very rude.Hot water tank broke on 4 seperate occasions this summer, and getting someone to come out and fix it was like pulling teeth.First they said that they couldnt come out to us, 15 min drive from their dealership in Canton Ohio, because they didnt do service calls only to find out later that they have a mobile mechanic. However, if we took the part off ourselves and bring it to them they would replace it. (Did that twice, both times they knew we were coming and still had to wait while they tracked down the part.)Then our awning motor completey seized up and wouldnt move at all. Called good ole Alan and this man tried to tell us to bend the arms back manually and strap it to the camper cause they couldnt help us for a few weeks. Really? It was storming with high winds and he said if we didnt do that then our warranty would be voided. Explained to him that the water would fill up inside the awning cover that way and bend the arms and he said, I didnt think about that. Theres not much he does think about.Furnace stopped working twice now and he had the audacity to tell me that I would have to pre-pay 81.00 for someone to come out and 149/hr to fix it. IT HASNT EVEN BEEN A YEAR SINCE WE BOUGHT THIS CAMPER.Oh and just to add to my awesome experience with the North Canton Ohio dealership, my toilet is leaking and Alan has not even commented on that.Never will I recommend this place to anyone.
The sales staff was very helpful. The demo service side, however, was not. Was promised the problem would be fixed within two days, and it took them over a week before we could pick up our 5th wheel. The only reason we went with General RV was because they had the floor plan I wanted in a used R.V.

2022-03-17My husband and I went to General RV after having bad experiences at other local dealerships. Ben our salesman truly knew our taste and what we were looking for. He was conscious of what amount we had budgeted for. We found “the one” on our first visit, and after looking at only 3 campers. Ben guided through the process and we next went to Angelina. She was phenomenal in helping get us financed at terms we wanted. She was very friendly and personable. We then did our walk through with Aaron, he was very thorough and made sure that we understood how to work our camper as this is our first. John (I think is his name) helped my husband understand how to hitch up and how the towing features of our truck could be used to help the camper tow better. I can’t remember the name of the ladies that were our link between each stop, but they were also very welcoming and helpful. We would highly recommend going and seeing Ben, specifically for your camper needs. I promise, he’s great!!

2022-06-24The people are super nice and go above, and beyond to accommodate the guest. Ben and Denise were great to work with. When you spend a bit of time with them to process everything, it helps that they are so nice.A suggestion would be to have an incentive package for people that are new to camping and may not know everything they need to get started. I know many people are seasoned at the RV life and trading up; However, the ones that are new to the adventure may be interested in a package that includes the hoses to connect, wheel chocks, water filters, water regulators, black tank tablets, and the other necessity items to get started. We were a disappointed that a package was not offered.

2021-07-24Absolute best customer service not pushy, really genuinely trying to get people out in the best rig possible for the best price. Extremely understanding and willing to work with the customer to meet expectations. We worked with Kevin, who was an excellent sales representative and the manager of the establishment was super friendly as well. Only disappointment I have is that I did not go shop with these guys sooner!

2022-05-23General RV, Canton Ohio, failed to address issues with our unit prior to delivery and other issues found the day of delivery. I gave a low review as a reflection of my dissatisfaction. A man from the Canton dealership called me inquiring about the low review. He assured me he would send someone to resolve the issues. Based on his word, I changed my review rating from a 1 to a 5 before he made good on it. Wouldnt you know, he never sent anyone and the issues remain today.I called General RV today 5/23/22 to discuss an extended warranty claim. We bought and paid good money for the extended warranty because of the way it was explianed and that it would cover so much. Now Im being told it wont cover most of my claim items and I have to pay upfront in full then be reimbursed by the warranty company. This was never explained to us.General RV only wanted our money. After the sale, they kicked us to the curb as if we were trash. Ive never been treated so badly by a company. I will never buy from them again and I will make it known to as many people as I possibly can! I wish the review rating allowed a zero . A ZERO is what they deserve!!

2022-04-01We just purchased our first Toy Hauler and had John Taylor for our salesman. We have worked with him for the past 3 years trying to find the right camper for us. A couple hiccups along the way, but we finally have the one we love. If you are looking to buy a camper and you want someone who is very caring and goes over and beyond call John Taylor. You wont be disappointed. We had a wonderful experience with the financial office as well. Shes amazing

2022-04-30Kind of a nightmare. The financial gentleman was great, but that’s where our great experience ended. We went to a rv show, understanding the supply chain issues, we knew we would have to wait. The communication was horrible. When it was time to get the camper, the sales reps did not communicate to each other and the store was not ready for us. They got the camper ready in a hurry with a broken refrigerator handle, charger broken, and a fast review of the camper. We are new to RVs and luckily my Mom was not. She was disappointed about how we were treated and the lack of education we were given. Very disappointed by the overall experience.

2022-03-26General RV in North Canton has been tremendous throughout the entire process of our new purchase. Dominic showed us our options and gave us our best option. The staff on the day we went to pick it up we’re friendly and courteous. Triston was an amazing help during the finance portion. Just all and all a 5 star experience with a 5 star staff. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

2022-05-08Andrew was very friendly, patient, informative and went out of his way to accommodate my daughter and son in law. If you are in the market for an RV, ask for Andrew Butterworth. I heard about and saw the additional service dept buildings being built. Most Camper dealers are 80/20 sales and service. General RV is known for their 60/40 sales and service split. They take service to their customers very seriously. If your RV needs serviced, consider General RV.
