I just wanted to thank Steve, Jermaine and Rico for their hard work today. I am downsizing from a condo to an apartment and haven’t had to move in over 20 years. Needless to say, I accumulated wayyy too much stuff over the years and this appointment was way overdue. The guys were polite and extremely efficient and were ever so conscientious of my time. They handled both the donated items and my personal belongings with great care. If I am ever in need of this service again, I will not hesitate to give you guys a call. Thanks again and I pray that the donations help those who truly need them 😊
They literally never answer the phone. I understand that people get busy, but if theyre THAT busy to where they cant even take incoming calls, they need to hire more employees/volunteers. Ive been trying to schedule a furniture pickup for the last week but as I stated, these people are impossible to get a hold of. The furniture that Im trying to donate is too nice to just have sitting outside so Ive been trying to schedule the pickup so that I know when to have it out, versus just leaving it sitting on the curb. Ive even left voicemails, asking someone to call me back. Still no response. Very unprofessional & unorganized.
Was told a that furniture bank was supposed to pick up the furniture- 6 pieces at a certain time frame. Came at least 5 hours later than what was originally stated. No phone call about the delays. Had to contact the company multiple times for them to let me know what the issue was. Was told that the drivers would call me. Never did until the last hour of wait. A courtesy call at least saying that they had a back up would of been appreciative instead of working my schedule around them.Also- wouldn’t take all of the furniture. Would of been nice to know that we had to disassemble parts prior to their visit
Don’t bother making donations to this place they won’t take half the staff for no real good reason except I don’t think the movers just didn’t wanna move it. My first experience using this service I won’t be doing it again. They wanted to charge $50 per item to haul certain items away that were perfectly good and I’m sure could’ve been sold. Absolutely ridiculous don’t waste your time
Rob and the pick up movers were all fantastic. Very responsive, showed up on time promptly and very professionally and courteously removed the contents of the apartment. Great service to assist in removing a deceased loved one’s belongings and at the same time donating to help others in need. Many thanks for their assistance during an otherwise difficult time. Would give more stars if possible, highly recommend!
DO NOT DONATE TO THEM. What a joke, they didnt show up until an HOUR AND A HALF AFTER the time frame they gave. By then, it had started raining and there was obviously raindrops on the dressers and tables, which they said they dont take water damaged items. 1. Not water damage, brush the rain drops off. 2. It WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN RAINED ON HAD YOU BEEN HERE WHEN YOU SAID.
The office staff werent very friendly. But the staff who help you pick out your furniture were friendly and helpful. They were efficient and effective with your 15-minute limit. The guys who delivered my stuff were very friendly careful when delivering my things in the rain. They knew what could survive the rain and what needed to be inside first. They were very helpful to me. I really enjoyed my visit to the Furniture Bank. There was plenty to choose from and they did their best to accommodate you. Its a great service and I am truly blessed and grateful for them. Thank you for all you did to turn my house into a home!!
My mom donated furniture to this joke of an organization, one of the men who came to our home to take the furniture were nothing short of extremely disrespectful, and constantly complained about the job. On top of this, she had to wait HOURS for these people to show up just to be told they “didn’t have room on their truck for everything”. She tried to call and tell the manager about how awful this experience was but the manager still hasn’t had the balls to call her back. She also had to PAY to donate furniture and deal with them. Do yourself a favor and find another organization to donate too.
During the initial call to set up service, it was verified they would pick up from 2 addresses where we had furniture. When they called to confirm, I again asked if picking up from 2 addresses would be ok and was told no. So, we moved furniture from one address to the other to accommodate. Was told they would call when on the way - no call, no show, no return phone call after several voicemails. I have used them before and had a great experience - never again. Thought I was doing something for a good cause - apparently not. I would give zero stars if I could.
I wish there were an option for negative stars... We requested them to pick up some furniture we wanted to donate. They sent someone to pick it up and prior to coming in he was on the phone complaining about someone who he had been to previous then argued with me that the items were not on the list and he wasn’t taking them. Let me state this here! We WERE PAYING THEM TO TAKE IT. He wouldn’t provide the list to me. I ask him for his managers phone number so I could speak with them. His reply is “ I don’t have a supervisor”He was simply the laziest person I have ever met. RUDE. Screaming, pointing his finger in my face and threating me. If this is how the rest of the company is ran.... I say you need to find a new group of management or teach your employees on how to speak with your donors. We will never donate to them again… And I will make sure anyone who knows me knows what type of organization this is.
Donated several large furniture items and they arrived at time expected and called ahead to let me know they were on their way. During pick up they advised they also took clothing and toy donations - I had already had some ready to take to another donation but they gladly accepted these things that same day. Great organization. Will continue to donate.
Help someone start over. Furniture Bank of Central Ohio has great customer service. We arranged for pickup, listing everything that was to go. They called to set a date and called the day before as a reminder. That day, they called 3 minutes away. The inspected the items, and although they didnt take them all, they were very kind, punctual, and positive.
Customer service is terrible if youre donating. Also, as someone said before, they advertise that they refurbish old furniture for a good cause, but wont take anything with minor stains or a couch that simply needs vacuuming. From sitting unused.Had I known how much of a waste of time they are, I would have just trashed donatedmy furniture or donated to Goodwill before even considering calling them.Edit as a reply to the company response:Youve missed my main point. There is no communication from the company stating that there can be no stain or the specific/strict condition that is being looked for. My being proactive and communicating this, there would be much less headache and wasted time.
Wanted to donate a Dresser w/Mirror hutch attached. When I scheduled the Pick-Up not a thing was ever mentioned that there is a height limit and/ or to detach the Mirror from dresser for pick-up. Guy said its too tall, even though you have to take off the mirror to move? yes he said, they should have told you. Complete Waste of my Time! He took the nightstand, probably because it was little and easy to carry. Guy said they take all sorts of other items, let me just mention I will NOT use this place again.
Such a wonderful place that truly helps you to get back on your feet for you and your family by making it easy for you to furnish your home without stress and worries. Also, they have an amazing staff that will go over and beyond. You are truly loved by myself and my family..
I volunteered here a few years ago and believe this is a great cause and mostly a great organization. However I recently scheduled a donation. After confirming a date, pick up window, and adjusting my schedule they did not show or call. This is not a reliable way to get rid of furniture if you are on a timetable such as moving.
These people are so wonderful! My son was in need of furniture and he was allowed to choose a bed, dresser and desk, which will be so very helpful in his time of need. PLEASE PLEASE consider donating to them if you have anything extra. Your unneeded items are needed by someone in our community. They’ll even pick up your donations for you!
Donator beware. They will not take your furniture. You gather your furniture feeling good that you are donating to a good cause, the guy shows up and rejects almost everything. They really want you to donate NEW furniture. They show pictures on their website of people refinishing and repairing furniture but in reality, they reject anything that requires cleaning or repair.
Tried to donate some decent pieces of furniture. A couch, loveseat, wedge, chair, and an ottoman. It was a mismatched set and two pieces had some rough edges due to kitty practicing his claw sharpening skills (unfortunate). They refused to take those pieces which ok...I understand. Seems ultra picky to me considering Im giving it away but whatever. It definitely isnt trash material. Then the pick up (ahem) gentlemen said there was too much pet hair on the other pieces that were only 2 years old. Uhhhh, what? Literally the hair fell off when I picked up the cushion. Mind you this was not embedded pet hair, just loose hair that had rested on the top. Apparently you should just donate the brand new stuff you have acquired... Im sure they will take that. In any case, to the bulk trash area it goes which upsets me because it really isnt trash but Im sick of it taking up my garage. Must but nice to be so finicky.
Incredibly frustrating!!!!!!!!!! I tried to donate some nice pieces of furniture....hoping to do a good thing. Two pieces of bedroom furniture and two cabinets. I tried twice to communicate a specific pick up time. I was scheduled for other times that I DID NOT request!! I spoke to different people for the pick up. I was under the impression from one person on the phone that the time I requested was available. Then I receive a voicemail telling me that not only is the time changed without speaking to me, but changed to a time that was not convenient. Apparently the communication at the Furniture Bank is...well the right hand doesnt seem to know what the left hand is doing. I will contact another company who will be much more accommodating.
I work as a case manager for a non-profit in the Columbus area. Many of my clients utilize the services of the Furniture Bank, as they are often moving into new homes with very few personal belongings. The Furniture Bank staff has always been really helpful, respectful, and sensitive to the needs of the clients that come through to utilize their services. I am so glad to have the Furniture Bank in Columbus!
The list of partners is buried in the website. I called and asked for a list of people that gave referrals and was rudely told to look at the website. I had to call back then to be walked through the website as the person looked around the website, not knowing where it was herself. Then, as you call the partners, none of them actually give referrals. Its all third party or old info. 211 doesnt know what info to give, JOIN expressed the same frustrations as above. Even when I finally forced out a small list of organizations that supposedly gave referrals, the information was outdated and some of them didnt even know they were on the list. Needle in the haystack
I had to go wait line at 4 a.m. just to make it in the top 20 except it to receive a voucher to go to the furniture bank and you must provide proof of your income for the last 90 days and have all your identification and children as identification available upon signing up the overall if you are struggling family it is well worth it
I enjoyed shopping at the warehouse but when my items showed up at my door I was less impressed. The movers were reluctant to bring my furniture up or down steps even though they had the proper equipment to use to do this.I still have a washer in my kitchen that should be down in my basement. And a box spring in my living room that should be up in my bedroom. They were delivered a week ago.so Im not real impressed with the delivery side of the business.
Donated a couch to this company and they sent two hoodlums to move the couch on a Saturday, well the two guys returned the falling Monday and burglarized my home! Company obviously denied their guys had any involvement, but its awfully funny that Ive lived here for two years in Canal Winchester with no problem until I donated that couch! #Beware #Beware #Beware
Took about 5 hours to get here and the worse part is my agency paid for delivery and indoor delivery but the driver was hurting and I had to help the other guy and guess what my coffee table was stolen if I could of been watching my stuff like it was supposed to be this wouldnt of happened Ill be speaking to my agency tomorrow and the proper people dont advertise something if you cant follow through!!!

2021-12-06I wish I would have read the negative reviews about donation pickup and lack of phone service before scheduling with these people.TL;DR: I paid $25 for people to mess up my house, and not take a couch. When the employees came to pick up my couch and refrigerator, they stated the couch was too stained to take. I thought it was ridiculous, as it is in perfect shape with the exception of one or two water spill stains that are actually pretty hard to notice (I provided pictures via the scheduling tool on their site before scheduling pickup). They then proceeded to move a refrigerator up the stairs without measuring which way to make it through the door (and without using an appliance dolly). When they realized they couldnt fit the fridge through the door, rather than rotate it, they tried to force the fridge through the door, breaking my door and denting / tearing a lot of the trim. It was only when I asked them to stop and turn the fridge that they quit trying to force it. They didnt understand what I meant by rotate it, so I had to physically hold the fridge (on the stairs) and rotate it for them. I let them take over again. Since they werent using a dolly, they dug the corner into my flooring, crushing the flooring in that spot.Once they opened the truck, it was clear why they said the couch was too stained, they would have had to re-arrange the truck in order to fit it in. I told one employee I wanted them to take the couch, and if their manager thought it was really too stained I would pay the $50 disposal fee. He then told me the couch wouldnt fit, and that they still had 2 stops left. I let him know Ive been holding onto this couch (which I could have had disposed of when my new one was delivered) for a month. He suggested I call back and schedule another pickup.I then tried to call the Furniture Bank to discuss the terrible experience, but like many others before me discovered, they dont seem to answer their phones. No matter which option I chose, I always made my way to a this mailbox is full message.Im out of Goodwills pick up range. If you are the same, I would suggest renting a truck and taking furniture to a Goodwill drop off location. That would be much less of a hassle than dealing with these people.

2022-07-09I had been homeless for 4 years and had little furniture other than a bed. I have finally found an apartment and with the help of the amazing people at Senior Options got referral to the furniture bank. It was a wonderful experience! The people were the nicest and most helpful. I was able to pick the furniture out and it was delivered to my 2nd floor apartment an hour after I got home! I am so grateful to both the furniture bank and Senior Options. I am finally safe and have all I need to make my home.

2022-04-15Awesome way to get a new start but its been 3yrs and I have a couch that is in good used shape except it was a cat couch and it has been scratched up and I have had to buy a cover for it but I dont need it anymore and I would love to bless someone who is in need. As a little blessing to them, and I would love to see if I could get a smaller one as a blessing.. please consider it because I am in transitional housing and disabled on a very strict income

2022-07-18Thought I was donating some furniture to a fine organization. They came by a month after our phone call, loaded up the furniture, then after it was already loaded told me it was not in good enough condition to take. They ended up asking me for $120 to dispose of it, which I reluctantly agreed to seeing that I needed it gone.Once I got the cash from the ATM, the number became $145, which included a pickup fee Id never been told about.Again, reluctantly, I handed him $160 expecting change, and he said Thanks for the tip! and left.I have no words. What kind of organization is this? I feel like I just got scammed.Reply to FBCO: Looking forward to the call. It’s EOD on the day of pickup and haven’t heard anything.

2022-01-06I had a couch and loveseat scheduled for pick up today. They were 3 years old and extra clean. I had them in my garage around the back of the house and left it open so they would be able to get them while I was at work.I get a call saying that they couldnt take them because there was a stain. I was horrified as i knew they were not stained. I heard the other guy say that it wouldnt fit on the truck anyway. But they could take them for a disposal fee of $50 each. I said just leave them and I will deal with it later. When I got home and looked at the couches it looked like one of the couches did have a stain from being dropped or something very intentional. Whatever it was it was definitely something that was not there when I left the house this morning. Needless to say I had to deal with the couches myself and I ended up taking them to goodwill where they were very happy to get them. I would say think twice before you call this place for pick up again.

2022-02-14Very unhappy with this place. Trying to donate to charitable org. BE VERY CAREFUL IF SCHEDULING PICK UP DO NOT DONATE. They have set up website to trick people in donating at the end of requesting for a pickup. Its on me for donating-- so fine it was for a good cause. They came to church to pick up couch and footstools. They felt free to charge 25 $$$ but only take footstools not the couch because the found a small stain. PLEASE find another charity to use.

2022-05-27I was reluctant to use these guys given the reviews. And i shouldnt have. Drivers got here and informed they wouldnt take half the stuff despite it being in fine condition and previously agreed on. I think it came down to fact drivers were too lazy to load all i had. Give your stuff to anyone else..not them

2021-09-27I can appreciate what they do and whom they help, but I did not have a great experience with them. I called and asked if they would want an old recliner of mine that I wanted to donate. They said sure thanks had planned a pick up and time, the driver came and said they could not take the recliner because it was old and had a couple of scratches. I explained this on the phone before hand but had the idea that maybe someone who was in need would be able to still use the chair.

2021-11-25Not worth the wait!! They gave me a 3 hour window then came 3 hours past it. Waited all day for the truck and then they refused some very good quality items (see photos) for poor reasons. Maybe the men were too tired to carry them or there wasn’t room on the truck? They made my husband and me disassemble a light weight bed frame because they weren’t “allowed” to touch anything. Then charged me $25 for inside pickup.
