Fuji Japanese in other cities:
My girlfriend got her food about a half hour after I did. It was most definitely the worst salmon I have ever gotten. Worth $25? Nope. I have never known salmon could taste so so fishy and sour. I have had better salmon at bars. At least they forgot to ring up our sake. Good luck.
We sat and had the hibachi, the cook was friendly but the veggies and rice were not cooked all of the way. The rest of the staff was rude and not attentive.BEWARE: The prices in the menu are NOT what you will pay. They charge more and when questioned about the menu prices, we just got told “those are old prices.” A male staff member got mad that we questioned our waitress about the upcharges that weren’t listed anywhere, when he wasn’t even the one helping us the whole time. We will not be going back there.
This was the first restaurant I have ever been to that didn’t show they hated people of color. The opposite race came in sat down and got service quick while we sat there with water and hungry and heck. After sitting there with dirty dishes, sticky floor and the horrible horrible horrible service. We divided not to trust their food. If they’re showing hate like that, there’s no way we could eat from there. So we left! They don’t deserve no start!!!!!!!
Took more than 20mins to wait for the chef. On Saturday (weekend) is normal. But worth it, he chef cooked fast, the rice is good with corn, nyum. The grill is clean. The plate is too. The fork and table are clean. I feel safe to eat here. I’m not sure about the 6feet rule thou 🥲. So crowd and squeezed.Offer the extra napkin next time, one piece is not enough for the whole meal🥲.The service is good.
A very soulless experience: sticky tables, lackluster food, and bare minimum service. I keep getting disappointed every time. Used to be a somewhat decent restaurant and a reason to visit the mall, now a shell of its former self that the service can barely muster any enthusiasm to attract people from within a dying mall.
The restaurant is nice looking and has darker lighting. The service was nice enough and fast, and the menu has many pictures for the sushi making it easier to decide. With it being in the mall its a great way to have a nice meal then walk it off. The food was delicious we enjoyed everything we ate. Also they have specials Monday and Tuesdays for rolls.
16 hours agoOur cook didnt talk, didnt cook the food all the way. My broccoli was so hard I thought I bit down on a chicken bone. Noodles were stuck together, and it is way over priced! We always tip the cook and it was so bad he got nothing. I highly suggest if you want a hibachi meal go to hibachi on rt 20 (Painesville/Mentor), not here! Awful!! So disappointing!
Disappointed experience! Server forgot the soup and salad for both of us, and he forgot the ice cream what we ordered. As a frequent Japanese food customer, this restaurant is my first time visiting and will be the last time. By the way, restaurant is nasty, workers were not actually on task.
Went there for dinner ordered shrimp tempura roll and teriyaki entree. the tempura roll was amazing I will go back again tomorrow to have it again. The teriyaki entree wasn’t as good as it look the chicken was rubbery but the sticky rice was great. The service was really good the kind lady made sure I had everything I needed my drink was refilled every-time I reached half, very kind and friendly. I found the prices to be a bit too high for the quality of the food but the quantity was great.
I love this place. The food is fantastic especially if you already have a good idea of how japanese food tastes. Its nearly a guarantee youll be spending more than $25 but I promise you its all worth it.The waitress was a treat and Im glad.GO THERE AND MAKE THESE PEOPLES DAY!
The food here is delicious! One of the best hibachi restaurants Ive ever eaten at. Also very reasonably priced. For $24, I got soup, salad, veg, fried rice, noodles, a shrimp side, chicken, and steak. A great value. However, the service here is not so great. I come here frequently, and every time there has been some issue. Tonight was the worst yet. My party of four was seated at a table where five others were already seated. Before we even took our seats, the waitress was handing us menus and told us to hurry up and order because these people have been waiting for a long time. I thought this was a strange thing to say since there were open tables and there was no reason for this table yo have been waiting for us to come. The second issue came after the chef finished cooking. He had not even finished cleaning and wheeled his cart away when the waitress came around to ask if we wanted boxes. For the food we had gotten not even five minutes ago. I gave this a pass, because I thought maybe she was just trying to be proactive to make sure we had boxes when we were ready. Unfortunately, after she finished passing out boxes, she then started handing out checks. I had not even eaten 1/2 of my food, and Im a fast eater 🙄. The whole thing was rushed, as she stood at our table waiting for our credit cards. Five stars for the food, one star for the service, hence the three star review. Come here for delicious food, but dont expect excellent service.
Got a Groupon for the place but they had all sorts of restrictions about what you could and couldnt get. Friend got general tsos and it was more like sweet and sour, but they still enjoyed it. The sushi I got was very pretty looking, but wasnt very good. I suppose it would be worth it on Monday/Tuesday when they have some half price sushi.
Waitress? Barely saw her. She didnt check up on us at all. I ordered Gen. Tso chicken.. $25 dollars. The breading had an off taste, like its been sitting in the walk in for too long. Just tasted old. Ordered the fried calamari. It was warm, like it sat out. My SO had the teriyaki steak, steak wasnt cooked properly.Do not recommend.
The Sunday pasta is the best. It had pieces of pork in the sauce. I was not a fan of the veal meatballs, but overall, I am not a meatball fan. For me a bit bland. All enjoyed their meals. A great touch was that we were served a not overly small piece of casada cake. I was stuffed. I could eat only half of my pasta and I only ate one bite of cake(delicious) and I gave it to someone else. Nice finish. We arrived a couple of minutes after closing(called to let them know we were on the way) and they graciously seated us.Atmosphere is old style Italian restaurant. Very pleasant and nostalgic.
Had lunch with my family here Saturday. Chef was very kind and had a great personality, unfortunately our server (reciept said Joanne) was the rudest most unfriendly person Ive ever been forced to pay 35$ gratuity to. She didnt even greet our table with even an ounce of respect. I asked for two new forks because there was food still on them from prior use, she slammed them on her tray like it was a bother for her. Never came back until it was time to collect her gratuity. I dont mind a gratuity added to my bill but she didnt deserve a penny. Chef deserved that tip!!!I wouldnt recommend anyone spend money to eat here not worth the price but if you do ..make sure you request anyone other than Joanne to wait on you,if thats her name. Id rather the dishwasher serve my family over her. What a miserable person
Fuji is located in the Mentor mall near the JCPenney entrance. This is a lively place and can get a bit loud around the habachi area. They have a broad range of choices from sushi to udon to teriyaki and habachi (of course). You can choose to sit in one of three areas: habachi, table dining or the sushi bar.The prices are comparable to most other habachi place since the area. This is a great place to even stop in for a quick lunch bite while touring about the mall shopping.
I ordered seafood yaki at $19 and as you can see by the photo that is a ridiculous price. Also, as you may know, this place charges more for delivery orders while we getting delivery already pay delivery charge. When this virus hits again and they really need door dash I hope they remember when I and others like me do not order because they thought they were slick. The serving was small, had those nasty fake crab legs things and was tasteless. They didnt even send soy sauce. I will never order from here again.
Our first time going to Fuji. We order take out the food was terrible. We order chicken fried rice the chicken was hard as a rock. I couldnt believe it and the General tso was awful. If the restaurant was close to wear I lived , I would have taken it back. I will never go there or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My Food came out 10 minutes after my friends food did and was cooked wrong, waitress proceeded to argue with me about how I ordered the food. I ordered med rare and it came out well done. The prices also increased substantially since the last time I was here and the increase doesn’t justify the quality of the food compared to other places. My friends and I will never be coming back.
The food was expensive and mediocre at best. Normally that would spark a 3 star from me. But due to the rudeness of the staff, the items listed on the menu arent the items they have (menu needs updating), no one coming back to refill drinks or check on us.Idk. Likely wont go again or recommend.
Understandably we waited longer than expected before a chef came to the hibachi table but we shouldve been notified this at the door. My family and I were there with a small child whom was not easily entertained during the 1hr+ we waited for the hibachi part of dinner to actually start. We also had a vegetarian in the group which the waitress and chef were both notified. The chef proceeded to slid the veggies that were under a bowl onto the chx juice on the grill. Not ok. We Then requested they just take it off the bill for at this point most of the group had gotten and were consuming their meal. The waitress said she would but she wud still have them make her veggies in the back. The bill arrived with the veggie meal still on there after a long conversation with the manager it was finally fixed. But we were here for my sons birthday so I was a bit upset there were so many issues.
This place was the worst place to go to we waited 1 hour and did not get to eat , the place was dirty and then people were walking in and out and then a girl that did not work there said that they called her in to work and told us that if we came back another day we would get 15 percent off our next bill and the service was horrible .
Im giving it two stars instead of one because I thought the food tasted good. The problem I had was that our waitress never came back. We never got a refill on our drink, we didnt get silverware, we had to find somebody to get us a fork, not everybody can eat with chopsticks. When we were done eating we waited a half hour for someone to give us our check so we could leave. I could have gotten up after 5 min to find somebody but thats not my job, I wanted to see how long it would take. I finally got up after a half hour to ask for our check. My boyfriend would give it one star because the only option for salad dressing is ginger. I guess that is the thing for Japanese restaurants, wish somehow for people like us we could know that before ordering. He also thought the food was too bland, we ordered the steak and shrimp dinner. Also for a hungry boy the soup and salad sizes are just not big enough.
Fuji Japanese Steakhouse is a really great place to go for Hibachi! Their chef are a lot more entertaining than several of the others I have been to. Expect to see spatula juggling, onion volcanos, and other preformance staples. They also are pretty good at small talk and banter! The food is also delicious! All in all a terrific experience.
My first time here and it was a little pricey then what Im use to. Rice nor noodles were done he over cook the shrimp. Did not get the shrimp appetizer but all in all it was okay. Oh and not going to mention that he dropped the meat on the table and then put it on your plate.
When growing up my grandmother always checked the bathroom of the restaurant we were at before we ordered anything. She said if the bathroom was dirty just imagine the kitchen. Well that being said the bathroom is not the cleanest or dirtiest but it has been months since they had hand soap. Also watch how they are so unorganized when getting to-go orders together. The kitchen sends out the orders in to-go containers to the front and then they have to figure out what goes where. To do so they have to open up the containers and bag it. Needless to say as a delivery person it is quiet irritating to watch. I am sure this is why delivery orders are messed up and why you have to wait for something that should have been put together in the kitchen. The kitchen saw what the order was and made it and put it in the container. Why is it so hard to put it in the bag. It maked no sense whatsoever.
My first time visit here was amazing! The service was awesome, and a friendly atmosphere. This place is great for casual, family or just cozy dining. The food is delicious! Great prices and the menu has a great variety of selections for every taste as well. This place can be seen from the main street and there is ample parking. My experience was awesome and I very much look forward to visiting again soon! Take a break and treat yourself, family, or that special friend I guarantee you wont be disappointed!💛
Dont come here on a Saturday night. Service was awful. We sat at the bar. Took 10 minutes just to get waters then another 20 minutes to order. Sushi came out 30 minutes later and server never brought the yumyum sauce nor soy sauce even after we asked for it. Drinks were extremely over poured. Watched the bartender wash glassware if thats what you want to call it 🤢 and over pour drinks.
My boyfriend and i spent $61 on meals and sushi here and everything was fine when we picked it up. but we got home and my boyfriends meal was shrimp and scallops with noodles. he ordered a lobster and steak combo meal with fried rice, which is $31. there was an empty lobster tail in the box but no steak and only mine came with fried rice. when i called to get my money back, all they could do was give me $10 off next time i come in. i just feel like if i didn’t get what i ordered i should get my money back for that meal, i don’t want to come back for $10 off. i want $31 back.
Party reservation sat 1 hour late, waited in a crowded bar lobby.Drinks took 30 minutes, apps and salads tool another 30. Ginger dressing in salad was frozen, chunks of ice. They cooked one side of the table , then the other (instead of cooking both sides at the same time) so half our party was done eating before the other half was served.3+ hours for dinner.
Got a drink from the bar & glass was dirty with lip marks on the rim but they quickly got me another drink & made sure the glass was clean. Ordering went well & the soup & salad were fine. The cook was fun & friendly. But the food had zero taste & the taste it did have was bitter. Most of our party didnt eat most of their food. One person in our party never got their food which was ordered from the kitchen. After an hour we brought it to the staffs attention and it never came out still. We had to tell another staff member that we were still waiting for some ones food. The waitress never came back to refill our partys drinks and when we told her some of the food never came she had a bit of an attitude. I have to say I was expecting a cleaner restaurant as well. The bathrooms were dirty. Needless to say I will not be returning.
My family and I have been goin for the last 5 years for all the March birthdays. W always had a great time and enjoyed the show. But the last 2 times Ive gone this year we had horrible service and supposedly you pay for dinner and a show. And we got no show, no fun no talking. I am very disappointed what Fuji has become.
The service was extremely slow...we sat for half hour before even getting our drinks, then it was another 1 in a half before they even started making our food...the food and portions were food but my God if u have 3 hrs to spend at a place waiting for dinner...this is your place!!!
I left a 5 star review years ago, I try to visit every month sometimes more. This place has great Japanese style food and drink.Ive honestly never had a bad experience. But I must say, I love the waitress Jin so much! I met her the last time I visited, and I was so excited to see her again! You meet every one for a reason, shes an angel. If I could have her sit and eat with me I would.Im so happy Fuji is still open, its been a sad year and I wish everyone success.
I love this place. We went there for lunch and the portions are large. The scallops were delicious. A simple soup and salad is served with the meal. It’s probably my favorite part of the meal. Comes with rice and a good portion of vegetables. We sat on the hibachi side, but you can eat in a booth if you prefer.
Its been a while since ive personally been but it was a wonderful experience. They have fun and polite staff to cook delectable food right in front of you on their cooktops. I dont know how covid had affected this system but when things go back to normal it makes the perfect place to visit for a family dinner or birthday party. Overall an unforgettable experience.
Horrible place. Had a gift certificate to go here. Came during the day (around 2pm) and no customers were there. We sat a the door for about 5 minutes before anyone came to us (despite us seeing a waitress a few times look at us and go in the back). Order two drinks and she said she would get them. We waited 15 minutes! Finally the drinks (as in Pepsis) came out. She said she would come back for our order. We waited 25 minutes! No one came out once in that period so we just got up and left.We also know a couple that tried it once and while service was a bit more responsive, they said the food had small portions, was cold and limp. I have no idea how this place has lasted for so long. It always looks dead.
We had a great experience! Loved the food! Loved the chef and entertainment! Only 4 stars because the waitress didnt really understand what we said besides menu item names. And also, we never got our Avocado Roll we ordered. It didnt end up on the bill though so it was fine. We used a Groupon discount and that went perfectly. 😊 I would definitely go back!
I like it here. They give you pretty large portions of food for the price you pay. Plus they have excellent salad and soup. People are friendly and you never feel rushed. Their sushi is really good and filling. And they have a fun assortment of sake, which is always great. I recommend trying them out.
I have been here several times over the last couple of years and was always generally satisfied. Unfortunately I cant say that for this visit. Things I usually have, were not even close, and I just dont get it. In particular, of the 3 meats I chose there wasnt one that I could eat more than two bites. I usually really like their hot and sour soup, this time it was awful. I will go back only because I give any restaurant Ive been satisfied with, one more try if I had a bad experience.
They completely messed up my order and sent fried rice and mushroom soup instead of hibachi and miso soup. I only ordered hibachi because the sushi tasted rancid. I paid for door dash twice. Then they refused to correct the order. I had already driven 20 minutes because they said they would make a new one. They said the delivery boy at my shrimp and vegetables. Ninja in mentor on the lake has the best sushi in county but they are closed on Mondays.
I have been going there for the last 5 years every year on December 8. It has always been very good. We were there December 8, 2018. The bar was awful. We had to wait 45 minutes TO order. Our cook mumbled. We had the dinner lover everything taste of Garlic and Soy sauce thats it. The steak was tough , shrimp, scallops were like rubber and the rice all taste garlic and Soy sauce
Its a little expensive, but the quality of the food is well worth it. You get generous portions, and the chefs are very friendly. The sushi is some of the best Ive ever had, and they have one exclusive entry that Ive never been able to find anywhere else. I cant wait until I can go back!
We were very much looking to come here for a great Valentine’s Day meal, however this time, for reasons unknown, they decorated the place in balloons and my wife has a life-threatening latex allergy. Needless to say, we were unable to enjoy their fantastic food and given it was Valentine’s Day, couldn’t get into anywhere decent otherwise. Completely disappointed by this. Ruined our evening. And given how long it takes latex to dissipate, we will be unable to enjoy them at any point this weekend or for several weeks. They had never done that before, even on the other Valentine’s Days we had been there. We wish restaurants would be more respectful of this allergy and it’s impact on customers. Balloons are unnecessary for decor. There are many other ways to decorate that are safer for more people.
Terrible Service - had reservations for 12, place was empty on a Thursday, first ones to sit down. The place had 2 more groups of seven or so come in after. They cooked for them first, when inquiring they only had 2 cooks. So had to wait over an hour and 15 minutes before cooks showed up.Spoke with employee who said the other tables ordered first, well yeah it took our server 20 minutes to get us water.Place is a joke and so are the people that run it...
Nice clean environment good entertainment a lot of energy. I would have gave 5 stars but the cook favored another family more than he favored me and my date. Even the young kid had a larger portions and all the extras. I believe if he learned to spread the out the portions better he would be awesome.
Monday n Tuesday 1/2 off sushi all day dine in only. Special menu.. The Hibachi side is absolutely yummy as well there is only one man who is Caucasian that does the cooking on that side he looks like the guy that played in Waterboy with Adam Sandler absolutely the funniest guy I have ever sat down for entertainment and had food there. I had tears and my ribs hurt guy should be a stand-up comedian one of the best times ever I will never forget my birthday. He got $20 from my group in tip I will definitely be back he is probably the best asset that restaurant has to offer I also recommend getting their noodles instead of their rice. I know noodles are noodles but dang those are good and dont forget your yum yum sauce and steak sauce everything is just amazing there I have never had anything bad
Service was slow. Waitress brought regular Pepsi for my diabetic husband instead of diet. Then brought refills 5 minutes later. Then 10 minutes later walked by picked up my refill glass poured half in my cup and half in my husbands cup....NOT OKAY!! Salad dressing was gross. It was frozen partially... Chef had little personality but the chicken tasted okay...we will not go back....
The food is always good here. This time I had the sushi and I was surprised at the intense flavors and freshness of the raw ingredients. Ive also had the habachi sit down dinner and it was very good. I never walk out of there hungry. I give it 4 stars for two reasons. 1) I cant give 4.5 and 2) its not cheap. The price is the only reason I dont go there more often.
We love Japanese steak houses. And have been here a bit, however although the service was good, the food seems to have gone down and the prices up. I dont mind paying more for something good. But I have gone to less expensive places and enjoyed it more. Just doesnt wow me for the price. Sauces, etc just seem lower quality.
Best hibachi place around the city. I will happily drive from the west side of Cleveland to Mentor to eat here. They often have groupons available and the prices are good for the amount of food you receive. Unlike some other places fried rice and noodles are included in the price. I always have leftovers for the next day. I refuse to go to any other hibachi restaurant.
Went tonight with a friend... seated in dining area as soon as we arrived. Server was very inattentive... drinks, salad/soup, meal, never asked how everything was, if we needed anything more... waited until we had finished eating to ask if we wanted refills. (We kindly declined.)We shared what we ordered, and the server almost seemed a little offended...Neither of us were happy with our experience, especially with it being our first time visiting...We ordered sushi. The food was ok, at best. The sashimi was overpowered by the sushi, this may be a personal opinion, but I felt there was too little rice for the size of the sushi piece placed on top of it.I will admit, the California roll was very good. I dont think well be visiting again anytime soon.
A group of 22 of us went to Fuji Japanese Steakhouse for a friends birthday. We had reservations for 7:00, got seated at about 7:15. There were about 6 large groups of 10 or more there so we did have to wait for a while for the chefs to come over. Once they got there it was a very enjoyable, entertaining evening with some of the best Japanese food that Ive had. I will definitely go back when Im in the area.
Waited an hour for a table, they lost the sheet with our name on it. When we asked when we would be seated they said, oh right now. We then sat at our table for an additional hour and no chef showed up, this was the absolute worst experience Ive ever had dining anywhere.
Restaurant is a bit dated but well kept and clean. Service was polite and prompt. I ordered an Alaskan sushi roll (salmon, avocado and cucumber) which was delivered in a timely manner. The roll was wrapped in an untidy fashion and served room temperature: almost warm. Texture was fine but not much flavor. The fresh pickled ginger and well prepared wasabi helped in that department. I would try it again.
I ate there with a party of 6 people. 2 of the people were not disappointing while the rest of us thought everything was horrible. our booth was cute, very private. the waitress was not very helpful and a little spacey. i ordered apps as my meal which she understood yet she still brought out one item as an appetizer. my other 2 apps arrived much later than everyone elses food. my brother was practically done eating by the time i received the rest of my food. the food was bland, greasy and not worth the calories. salmon tasted of sardines and was overcooked. even my husband tried my food and thought it was extraordinarily bad and hell eat anything. everything about the meal was lack luster. we will never return there.
Always a good visit! Usually stop by the sushi bar, great rolls. Done very well, affordable. Friendly sushi chefs who are attentive and really know what theyre doing. The hibachi is a bit pricey, we usually hit it only for special occasions. Great food & show when you go though. Awesome birthday song & surprise!!! Favorite roll is the scorpion roll! Its actually 2 rolls in one and Both are delicious. Hibatchi steak is also very delicious. Its in the middle of the Mentor Mall, but it doesnt take away from the experience at all. Take out is also available.
We get there at 5 p.m. they dont come take our drink order till 5:20 we place our order at 5:20 to explaining that the person we were with was allergic to mushrooms we waited another hour for them to start cooking our meal while delivering a bowl of soup to us with mushrooms in it. Then when they finally brought the food it also had mushrooms. We could not get anybody to understand what the problem was and why we couldnt eat the food. They finally took it back they made it again and put mushrooms in it again. When we complained that we cant eat the food and they took it back they said they would credit us the food! Of course you will credit us the food because we cant eat it, and never took a bite!!!!. We finally got our bill at 7:20. It was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had in a restaurant in my life.
I dont know what all the other reviews are complaining about I have been coming here at least once a month since it opened and have never had a problem and never any fish smell. They value is great, it is really good food for a really good price, especially compared to other places in the area. The food is great, just as good as Youngs (and better priced) and better then Sushi Rock. The atmosphere is really fun especially if you go at night its like a club in there. The service is usually good, there have been a couple times service was slow but it was because they were busy. I have never had any issue with being moved or a mess around our table. It is also WAY better priced than Otanis.
We came in a fairly large group with a lot of young school-aged children and everybody had a good time. The sushi was nice enough, the tofu teriyaki bento was very good, and the hibachi was fun to watch but a little to salty for our taste. We let them know it was one of the childrens birthday and they brought out fried ice cream with an interesting firecracker candle that really made his day.
I ordered sushi and it was good, but the customer service was horrible. No one greeted me when I walked in. The hostess was extremely rude. First, he didnt want to give me a menu to look at. Second, he rolled his eyes abe breathed heavy everytime i asked him a question. Lastly, while i was placing my order he walked away from the podium while i was talking to go sit someone that walked in after me. He didnt excuse himself or anything, he just walked away while i was talking.
The management was incredibly rude. We were placed at a table with quite a few others, as expected. When we paid for our meal we used a Groupon. Another couple at the table had a Groupon as well, but the manager refused theirs because we had used one. We explained that we werent together but they didnt care and the manager was horribly rude about it. The other couple said that they would never come back and the managers response was, everybody always says that. I could not believe a manager would respond that way!! I felt horrible for using the coupon. The waitress kept apologizing and I felt bad for her too but the management there is horrible and I will never go back either but sadly, they dont care.
Beer, not cold, isnt even in a cooler. 3rd time Ive seen the shushi changed, or become smaller. Order food, waitress cant seem to understand simple English. Food brought to table, it might as well been in a bucket, throw it in, throw it back on the plate. I havent had an issue for the year Ive come here, very simple things wrong in the past, easily forgiven. After this situation, I will not be back.
Steak was overcooked by a solid two grades. Took multiple tries to communicate our order to a waitress who BARELY spoke any English and the order was still botched. The rest of the meal and the tableside cooking were unimpressive. Except for the scallops. The scallops were amazing, tho.
I wont even give it 1 star we were there almost 3 hours I watched a table be seated after us a d get served first. I explained I had a mushroom allergy, they said they would cook my food in the kitchen...they brought soup.. mine had mushrooms, again I explained I had an allergy she took it back. They came to cook dinner for everyone else at the table as I waited for my food. After everyone had food on thier plates, they finally brought mine..mushrooms everywhere. I sent it back after again explaining my allergies. As I sat there watching everyone else eat they bring me another plate...yep mushrooms again. Everyone in my group was almost done eating I was upset. I told them I didnt want them to cook it again..they said they would take my dinner off the bill like they were doing me a favor! Will be a long time if I ever go back there again only giving 1 star so I can leave this review.
I went with 8 ppl we all got sick, I called to get a refund they didn’t understand a single thing i said I had to throw away a whole 50$ order!! Because we all got food poisoning!! Waste of time and money!! Don’t ever go here!! When I called and was nice about it the lady said whatever on the phone to me and hung up!!
I have been a patron of this restaurant for at least 4 years and over this time, I have found that the quality of the food, the environment, and the overall experience of dining here has reduced greatly. Let me start with the cleanliness of the restaurant. I do not know if I have seen a worse looking bathroom in any restaurant in Mentor. One look in these bathrooms and you will most certainly not want to eat there. I will not spend one more cent there until these bathrooms are remodeled. The cleanliness of the booths, bar, and hibachi tables leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, I would encourage all potential customers to take their money elsewhere in hopes this restaurant wakes up and realizes that in order to earn a customers business, you have to keep up with the basic expectations of cleanliness.
Waitress was extremely slow, about a 20 minute gap between getting our drinks, appetizers, soup, and salad. She also forgot to turn on the grill so we had to wait another 20 minutes before our entrees could even be cooked. She barely bothered to refill our drinks as well. So disappointed. Would rather go to Hibachi Steakhouse. Will not be returning here.
Had a reservation for a specific chef this evening. Had visitors who drove over 2 hours to visit us and to go to dinner with us and this chef. Last minute he was pulled from our table. We were lied to on why this happened stating - we never requested him. Nothing was done to rectify the situation. We are disappointed that we had a sub-par experience.
Negative 5 stars for service and quality of food. To start we had to plead with the management to give us a separate hibachi due to food allergies, when seated we ordered the Red Snapper and Salmon hibachi. The chef came out and gave us a less than enthusiastic showing quickly rushing through the process because he has done it hundreds of times. The rice was blah mush served with a hint of garlic and a splash of soy sauce and the vegetables were bland with no seasoning at all.For the main dish was the Salmon and Red Snapper, we were excited to try this hoping it had more to offer than the basic rice and veggies. Well what a waste of time, the fish was spoiled and slimey and tasted foul. We didnt even have to do more than take a small sample to realize they had tried to cook us spoiled fish and pass it off as gourmet hibachi. When we realized this we called over or waitress and let her know. She tried to correct this by taking it to management. As several other reviews will reveal, this restaurant suffers heavily in regards to customer service. Her manager said she took care of it by taking off the fish. Well she still tried to charge us al a carte for the soup, salad, rice and veggies which was equal to the same price as the fish. Wow. When asked about this she said that she charged us what we ate. We didnt eat any of this except the soup which we told them we would gladly pay for. After about 30 minutes of back and forth she finally removed everything except the soup. When matters took a turn for the worse was when we presented our Christmas gift Groupon. The Groupon complaints on Fuji alone should restrict them from participating in any further offers. Their Fine Print is really clear and so is the fact that if the Groupon shall not be accepted it is at minimum worth the value paid at all times at the restaurant. In this case $13. The restaurant refused to accept it for any value. To save you the reader some time and me the writer some time here is the bottom line. This is a dirty, shady restaurant that immediately outside of the front door has a hand written sign posted that says now hiring cooks, waiters, managements and bus positions. This should serve as notice enough that they cannot keep good staff.Long story short we should have walked out. This was supposed to be a peaceful family dinner with my wife and kids. After all of the go around with management and getting nowhere my wife pleaded with me to just pay. I reluctantly did and wrote on the bill forced to pay without resolution. Needless to say I have already called my credit card company to dispute the charge. Save your money, Id write more but Im going to go throw up now from the rotten fish!
Service was absolutely horrific. We got there at 6 oclock, put in three orders. Got our soup, salad, and one order of sushi out. Waitress forgot about us, and we waited 55 minutes for our food before we did not have enough time to wait any longer. Food is not good enough for that kind of horrible service.
My dinner was excellent, the Chef was wonderful, but the server was a little off, doing to many things at one time. Celebrating my Birthday with Minster Tamika was great. This has been one of many birthday memories that Ill never forget. God has been soooo good to me, and I couldnt have choose a better Church Family than PHCFC (We Do Kingdom Work) Amen. Again Thanks Minster Tamika for spending time with me you are a God send.
Horrible experience I called this morning to make a reservation for 2 for a birthday. The person who answered said no need for a reservation and a valid drivers license would give my friend a free birthday dinner. I get there and the story changes to three meals and we were only 2. The owner argued so we went to hibatchi highland hts. and had wonderful service and a free birthday meal. Never going back to Fuji again ! The owner is disrespectful and arguementive!
After sampling my fair share of sushi from various eateries, I feel that my taste is refined, thus allowing me to review my dinner here, accurately. My date and I went in on a Monday night while Fuji Japan Steakhouse featured sushi specials, which allowed us to purchase 3 plates worth of yumminess. I ordered a Fantastic Roll which was discounted and made with spicy tuna and avocado, as well as a Vegetarian specialty for $3.00 called a Sweet Potato Roll which is exactly what the title describes: sweet potato and vegetables, I also ordered another roll for $3.00: Cucumber Eel roll, which was delicious. We spent a good deal of time sampling each others plates in a tatami style room, which was private and enclosed. All in all, the sushi was moderately flavourful, creatively crafted and tasted fresh. The fish could have been more flavourful, but my main concern when dining on sushi is the state of freshness. Fuji Japan Steakhouse serves fresh sushi, and the interior is cozy, and a jazzy place to spend a date night with your significant other.
We had a party of about 27, and the waiter (Max), had a very hard time, I dont know why, he said hes the only one who can speak English so he wont be getting any help, made people feel uncomfortable, but the food was pretty good and the other staff was very friendly and helpful with my daughters cake
Worked for them for 2 days. The manager Steve directly quoted that all people in Cleveland are trash and stupid. The chefs smoke while they cool your hot food in the back and they touch all the food with no gloves. Its dirty and is bound to be shut down by the health department.

2022-02-22As always, this place was excellent. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were all exemplary. Jocelyn was our server, and she was stellar! No matter what you get for Hibachi you will love it. Our group got everything from the Red Snapper to the Fillet Mignon & Scallops, all of which were cooked perfectly, and were bursting with flavor! The chef was engaging, entertaining, and passionate. Definitely added to the already great experience. If youre doing Hibachi, I reccomend placing a reservation (especially on weekends) as this place is understandably popular. They have everything you could want at a Japanese restaurant. While I love raw sushi, they have a wide selection of cooked rolls as well. Theres also plenty of vegetarian/vegan options for those that cannot eat any sort of meat.Do yourself a favor & enjoy this really wonderful business- you will not be dissapointed. Prepare to take leftovers home!

2021-09-07The service was good, our server was very nice and that is the end of the completely positive things that I can say. The food is way overpriced for what it is. The food was plated very well but it was a bit on the bland side and it did not taste very fresh at all. The price was very high and the quality of the food did not match the price. I had the General Tsos Chicken and it was ok at best. If I had made it at home I would consider it passable but I would need to do better next time. There were no real highlights to this meal but it wasnt bad enough that youd send it back. Panda Express is much better and a better value as well.

2022-02-05The noodle soup was delicious and the tempora on the side gave the perfect crunch. Its not very pricey and the portions are good sized.

2022-07-05Watch out here, I ordered 2 items off the menu and I specifically asked the waitress if both of these prices are correct and she assured me that they were. When I got my bill they reflected another price, when I brought it to their attention the waitress said prices have changed, like okay fine but put that on the danm menu? The rice and veggies were hard, I am not happy with this experience at all.

2022-02-03A group of 8 of us went for my sons 18th birthday. The chef was silly and fun and cooked everything just right. The server did her job but did not go out of her way to be friendly by any means. I thought maybe she was having a bad day, but someone from our party said she served him last time he was there and thats how she is. Its odd to be in such a fun atmosphere but have such a serious person as the server. Our total bill for 8 people was $289, and nearly all of us got the hibachi steak. Good steak, noodles, the ginger salad dressing was enjoyed by me and my daughter, and of course, we all love the Yum Yum sauce.

2022-05-03Love going with the family for hibachi all the kids love the fire and performance. For about family ages are 3 all the way to 70s and everyone has fun and a good time. Includes everyone in the fun. Also prices are decent. Will be back. Make sure to share if it is a birthday and tip the guy who performs.
