Franks Automotive in other cities:
On June 9th, 2020 while heading back to Pennsylvania from Colorado we developed a serious mechanical issue in the engine of our 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Being from out of town presents its own concerns, since you just really do not know who best to call for something such as an mechanical issue with your vehicle. Well, we thank our lucky stars that we had the great fortune to call Franks Automotive. From the moment the recovery truck arrived we had a feeling that we had made the right call. Later events proved this to be true. In the afternoon of June 9th upon arrival of the recovery truck at Franks shop Frank and his team got our Tahoe right in to a service bay (and the shop was full when we arrived), then one of his men drove us to a local hotel. This young man spoke to the hotel front desk clerk, got us a great rate on a nice room, and then he carried our luggage up to our room on the second floor. They had my engine opened up just a few hours later, had the problem identified, communicated their findings with us and ordered the parts. Before the end of day two (June the 10th) our Tahoe had been repaired, taken out for a test drive and we were shuttled from the hotel back to Franks shop (and yes - the same young man arrive at the hotel to retrieve us and he carried all of our luggage out to his vehicle). We were back on the road before 6 PM on day two of being broke down - WOW ! Frank under promised and over delivered. And the final bill for the internal engine work, oil & filter change (as a precaution against possible metal filings in the crank case) and the recovery truck charges were very reasonable. We were not charged a premium for the urgency of our situation. As a side note: I had been working in Colorado for a year and as such our Tahoe was loaded to the roof from the rear hatch to just behind the front seats with our personal belongings, some of which were extremely valuable. I can say that nothing looked to have been checked out and all of our items were still there and untouched, which confirms my gut feeling that Frank and his team are honest and trustworthy - a rare find in todays how can I screw you world. Thank you to Frank senior, Frank Jr., and the rest of the great staff at Franks Automotive ! We are very happy customers. Sincerely, Jim & Jan Doucette
You will not find service like Franks Automotive provides all that often any more. Kind, polite, courteous, thorough and in general, down to earth no BS. They took care of my sons Jeep after he broke down in Bowling Green. Had him back on the road in no time! A+ service
My Wife and Myself were attending a Funeral yesterday evening when we had a Starter Issue with our Beloved Jeep. After contacting AAA, I then Received a call from Rich at Franks letting me know he would be there to pick us up with in the half hour. Upon his Arrival Rich came Inside and retrieved my Keys and asked us to stay indoors as it was very chilly while he loaded and secured the vehicle. Rich also found the Issue with our Vehicle as a Corroded ground wire on the Frame and advised me of that to let my mechanic know. He was Polite and Professional and assisted us into his service vehicle. I will without a doubt Recommend Franks for my Towing needs! Thanks again.
Frank is awesome and reliable. From CA, he and I worked with his shop to get my daughters truck worked on, stored and started during summer vacation at BGSU. He also stored the truck during the summer, ran it every week and is now going to do it for the Christmas break. He is reasonable and so reliable. You can trust his work, his word and prices. Would recommend him to all in BGSU, all parents that have a son/daughter going to BGSU and wished I had someone like him in CA. A great mechanic is hard to find, and thank goodness I found him!
I called roadside assistance from my Geico insurance. Franks Automotive sent a tow truck immediately even though I was an hour away. The tow truck driver was kind and explained what he was doing. I highly recommend this place. Who cares about the cost when you have a wonderful tow truck company that is extremely helpful. Wonderful job
I do not recommend! Only looks out for himself! I have had my car fixed here and have had recommended others to him! Recently i had my car towed to his lot and he would not wave the fee. Being a loyal customer and paying him for my services on multiple occasions and he would not wave my fee. I understand it is his job to tow and charge but being a loyal customer for many services over the past year, you would think that would mean something to him. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.
This place is the most honest and helpful car mechanic I have ever been to. I have had a series of issues with my car, and they helped me out with great service and at a great price. I was always able to get my car in on the same or next day and they even took the time to show and explain to me what was wrong and what needed to be fixed. It is hard to find mechanics like them that truly value their customers and I would recommend this place to anyone. You wont regret it!
I was in an accident and the county police called Franks to have me towed. I only had liability insurance so I was responsible for paying the tow fee. They charged me $290 to tow my car 3 miles. They added a bunch of ridiculous fees to my bill. They are a bunch of scam artists. Frank is the worst. He will lie right to your face and act like a nice guy when he is really a huge scumbag. Just as a side note my work colleague had car trouble and had his car towed 13 miles by someone else and his bill was only $125. So I know Franks ripped me off big time. Do not go to this place for any reason. If I could give this guy zero stars I would.
My daughters brakes stopped working about a mile from here, so we were looking for a close place that could fix it and get her back on the road fast, because she works for one of those employers who doesnt accept car trouble as an acceptable reason to miss work! So these guys got her in and managed to get the parts and rebuild her rear brakes in about 5 hours. And the price was fair for all the parts needed. Thanks for the fast work and caring about our situation!
Franks is absolutely wonderful, I will recommend this business to all of my friends and family. Their service was efficient and effective and they have the nicest staff. I felt comfortable and welcomed and my car is aging so the next time it is having a problem, I will come back. Thanks so much for your service, Franks! You make BG look good.
Franks Automotive is the best auto-repair shop that Ive been to. I travel often, and have had my vehicles serviced all around Ohio, but Franks Automotive is the best.10/10 recommend to anyone that want to work with honest, honorable professionals. Professionals that keep things real with you, and offer the best prices in Ohio for the quality of work that they do.You are only fooling yourself if you go anywhere but Franks for anything vehicle related repairs in North-Western Ohio!
If you are looking for a mechanic with fair prices and quick turn around, Frank is the guy for you. He takes care of all of his customers personally and is polite and kind to everyone. He genuinely cares about the safety of his customers above making a huge profit from them, which is refreshing compared to some other mechanics in town. His staff is knowledgeable and hard working. I definitely recommend this shop to anyone in the BG area.
This place is hands down the best place I’ve ever been. It’s unfortunate that the one star reviews are from people who were stupid and got their cars towed and then have the audacity to complain about the cost of getting it back.I unexpectedly needed to take my car in and they were able to see it that day. I paid less than $320 to get my front brake drums replaced, the rotors replaced, and the back brakes adjusted. Best part is that it was done the SAME DAY! I don’t ever think I had a car repair done within 6 hours. The man I talked to was very realistic about what needed to be repaired and what could wait on my 14 year old car. I truly felt that they had my best interest in mind.
I had been traveling through Ohio on my way home to North Carolina from Michigan, when I hit an 18 wheeler tire on the interstate. I called Frank’s Automotive and they told me to come right in. They checked out my car, And made it safe for travel for the rest of my trip. I was grateful for the kindness shown to me.
I took my vehicle to Frank this past week. after letting him know what I was *told* was the issue, I explained to him what led to that conclusion. he said he would check what needed to be checked before replacing said part. come to find out, the expensive part did not in fact need replacing, it was a much smaller, much more inexpensive fix. havent had an issue since.as I was about to leave, I sort of mentioned another issue I was having (trying to remedy myself), and he spent another 15 minutes giving me advice on what next steps to take to narrow down that issue. it meant a lot to have someone take the time to help me with an unrelated issue.10/10 will recommend and absolutely will be back in the future if need be.
We had a mechanical breakdown on a return trip to Canada. I spoke to Frank and he was very courteous in explaining my options. I automatically had a trust factor in what I was told. The gentleman who came to tow us was very courteous, polite and professional. Unfortunately I did not get his name but I must say that it is men like him that give employers a good name. He would not leave us until he knew that we we safe and had a room for the night. Thank you guys very much.
I am from Michigan and when my car broke down on 75 Franks was extremely helpful. Towing my car back home was going to cost nearly $1,000 and coming off the holidays this was something that was nearly impossible for me. Franks helped me brainstorm on how to get my car back home for the cheapest price and were able to save me $600. They made an incredibly frustrating predicament easier and I would recommend them to anyone!
My daughter and I just arrived at BGSU after a 2 hr drive for a college visit when my car broke down and needed a new radiator. I searched mechanics near me and found Frank. They diagnosed the problem, repaired my car same day, and charged a fair and reasonable price. They even gave us a ride to campus and even picked us up when the car was ready. We were able to drive home after a wonderful day at BGSU! Thanks to Frank and his staff! Outstanding customer service. If you need a mechanic in BG, call Frank hell take great care of you and your car.
If it was possible to give more stars i would. amazing service ive never spent a cent with them. im a forced do it yourselfer and they have walked me through numerous repairs ranging from from exhaust issues to completely changing the water pump. they care about people and in these times thats rare.
My Check Engine light had been on for about two weeks in my 2002 Mazda tribute ES and I started noticing some shaking within my car along with the car didnt start up as smooth as it used to. A friend told me it could be the ignition coil or also the spark plugs but either way it was a for sure thing that needed to get checked out. I dont know that much about cars myself so I took it too midas since a coworker said they had got work done there a little while back. After getting everything checked out the end estimate was going to be a $800 service job. Now I am also a college student but I also work two jobs so if need be I could of spent that amount. So i contacted my parents to see what they thought about it and they recommended checking other shops just in case, not to say the midas presented bad service. So the first place I decided to check out was franks being that it was super close and with my vechile in horrible condition I didnt want to take any chances. I called and asked if they had any available times the same day because, over the weekend I was supposed to go back home to visit family in cleveland which is a two hour drive, and I was told to bring in the vechile whenever I could. They diagnosed it and being they were familiar with the problem they didnt charge much for the diagnosis, probably about 10-15 dollars. I was told since I had some sort of after market starter the way it was wired was pretty much the cause. I was very skeptical at first but once they were explaining everything i decided to take a chance for 70 dollars. The car runs as perfect as before the check engine light ever came on. Everybody that was there was very friendly and also worked fairly fast to get that problem solved for me. The owner is very knowledgeable and gave me extra information to the point were i know I was happy I had taken my vechile to his shop. I will be going back to franks for all my oil changes and any future auto services because of their reliability and also the outstanding service.
As a friend of his mothers, talking to her by phone on many Saturday afternoons, Frank has been an added friend, and a reliable source for advice and repair on cars as needed. He is now much easier to find out on North Main Street. He helped with a Nissan Maxima that was crumbling underneath. If one can not change the dry rotted tire, halfway around the tire between treads, then the car is only good for scrap metal. At the time, the scrap metal was very high due to the upcoming Olympics in China.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS THIEF!! I was referred to Franks by a 3rd party &, since my truck had a flat tire and was stuck in sand I knew I would need a flat bed truck so I expected to pay more. 1st, he was 3 hrs late. Second, he said that he wouldnt be able to tow the truck from where it was because he was afraid he his tow truck would get stuck because he didnt think he would be able to maneuver his truck down the stone drive to get close enough to use the winch on my truck that was approx 30 ft from the drive. He told me that I would have to get someone to pull it closer to the road . Huh? After a nice neighbor did this for me, he was able to tow the truck to where I wanted. When I went to the trucks destination, I found out he charged me TWICE to the amount of $250 saying that it was my fault he couldnt get it done the first time!
Disgusting business! Charging people $90 to tow their cars less than 2 miles. Then charging extra to store their cars overnight when they tow them at 3am! Dont use limited parking space as an excuse--there are plenty of parking spaces in those lots. You just want to make money off of others misfortune. I spent the last of my grocery money for the month getting my car back. Then the dirt covered, human cigarette of a man who comes out to unlock my car has the audacity to lecture me. You have no room to be giving moral advice to anybody. You dont care about the poor people whose money you are taking. The people whose day you are ruining. Dirty people in a dirty business.
Tried to charge a $125 extra towing fee .We broke down and a State Patrolman called Franks. The river said there was a $125 dollar charge because the Patrol called them.He also said there wasa daily $17 storage fee to have our car in their lot for repair. He said, everyone charges more for patrol calls; we got another tow truck and he said that was not true.
Had my car towed by him when I was in a accident 4 years ago. He also towed my car from Perrysburg to BG when it died while I was out. Since my insurance covered towing and it was out of town I only paid $60. He does honest work and is really friendly. He does the towing for my familys car shop in Bowling Green and my step-dad hasnt had an issue with him the the last decade.
Im not mad just disappointed. The sign said 90 dollars, he charged me 100 for Storage fees. Three problems with that: 1) What storage? It was literally just a janky parking lot, not even a fence. 2) my car was stored for at most an hour. 3) My car was parked very close to other cars, I had to get into the car from the passenger and crawl to the drivers seat (I payed 10 bucks just for storage, I expect my car to be parked properly) The guy could have said literally anything else like Labor fees, Late Night fees or even Gasoline Fees and I would of been okay with it. If Youre going to charge more, just change the sign man. Also no college discount. 1/5 would not recommend.
Stopped in at Franks Automotive cause I had a couple questions about my vehicle. He was very honest and well explanatory.I was very happy when I left there.I would recommend Franks Automotive to anyone in need of vehicle assistance or maintenance.Thank you so very much for your help Frank.🙏
My car was towed, I put a sign in the window asking them not to tow I was getting my pass in the morning, the office was closed so I couldnt get a pass now, but they want money so much they towed it anyway, they dont care what your situation is they only want money. What have this country come to when the rich make poor people screw over other poor people just to get the next dollar.Car towed, cost: $100, time: 3:00 a.m.Office open at 8:00 p.m.They could not wait 5 hours for a $100Im POOR what should I do, what can I do! NOT honorable people.

2022-08-06Rude workers, my car got wrongfully towed at the fair. No apology...nothing. I would walk 20 miles in the snow up a hill before I ever used their service! Wow. Unbelievable!

2021-08-10My family and I are newer to the area and didnt know where to take my car for repairs. I went to a big retail place and they said they couldnt help me. I called around and found Franks, he told me to bring it right in and he would take a look. He explained everything to me, found the problem and fixed it! Very reasonably priced too. They were all so friendly inside. A great, honest, family business. I will definitely be bringing my 4 cars to him when I need to!

2022-01-24My daughter parked at a business near her work on a Saturday night and Franks Towing decided to tow EVERY car in this lot. But in the lot signs say specifically what spaces you cant park in...8, 9, and 10. My daughter parked in spot 24. And on the sign it says max towing fee is $90 + tax. They charged my daughter $155! Taxes arent $65. When I spoke to Franks I was told it doesnt matter whats on the sign. The business asked us to post those signs. Franks in my opinion is just taking advantage of college kids. Very unprofessional!Update 1/24: Im sorry Franks towing that you dont understand after I repeatedly explained the way you posted signs in the lot it appears certain spots are legal to park in and certain spots are not. Its misleading. A restaurant cant list a steak for $10 and then charge you $15 after you eat it and say well that menu we listed was old. Its dishonest business practices no matter how you try to explain it away.

2022-02-01Franks is a great place, they’re very honest and they do their best to offer you informative and full service even if that means making less money off of you. More mechanics should act like franks.

2021-08-24Franks was able to get my car back on the road faster than anticipated, which meant that I did not have to miss an extra day of work. They outlined exactly what was wrong with my car and did not try to upsell or upcharge me like other places might. Highly recommend!

2021-11-23Frank provided me with a detailed explanation of what was wrong with my car, and advice on how to deal with the dealership that sold it to me 4mos prior. He is the BEST in the business and the only mechanic I will ever trust.

2021-04-16I have gone to Franks for the last ten years for all of the repairs on my vehicles. Every single time Frank was there, he and his guys have always done their best. Whats more is that unlike most mechanics, Frank is reliable and trustworthy and will always tell you like it is. If youre around bowling Green, take it to Franks and get the best service in town. I know that for me there is no where else to go when I need help.
