Local establishment with locally sourced foods. Wide selection of food for omnivores and vegetarians alike and great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Friendly, attentive, and professional service. The BLT on Italian bread was the size of two sandwiches and fries were delicious. Prepare to take half of it home!
I’ve tried forage twice now, and both times were pretty disappointing. The service was not great we could barely get the attention of our waitress, waiting nearly 25 minutes to put in just our drink order. The cocktails were pretty watered down and missing some of the listed ingredients. And then the food was subpar at best, most of it being overpriced or just tasteless. I give it a two instead of a one cause some of the staff was super nice and attentive but majority of the staff you could not get the attention of to order.
Alright so the food here has really gone down hill in terms of quality. I got the Blue Kale Salad add steak and the steak was maybe 2.5 oz for an added 9 dollars, the salad itself was fine. Our vegan mac and cheese was dry. My fiancées chicken from her chicken and griddle was very dry and there was a long fiber from a kitchen towel in the griddle. The service was good, but this food without the foreign objects and disproportionately priced add-ons has gone from a 4 (2018) to a 2 at best. Very disappointing.
Super bummed about a recent experience here… went in on a Sunday right after 3 pm. Haven’t been to Forage in probably 5 years, but stopped in because we were on the west side. Simply put, waited about 40-45 minutes for two chicken sandwiches that came out lukewarm (mine) and not warm at all (husband’s). Once the food came out, the bartender was nowhere to be found to check if we needed more drinks or ask how the food was. We even had to get someone else’s attention to get our check. When the servers realized we didn’t eat all our food, they asked if we wanted boxes and when met with a “no”, there was no ask of whether there was anything wrong. Also, it was not extremely busy at the time we came in, and by the time we got food, it was nearly dead. It was clear the kitchen staff and front of house cared more about prepping for the change-over from brunch to dinner than serving people in the restaurant. Unfortunate to spend $50 on sub par service and soggy fries. We used to go here all the time, and the food was great, but I suppose this is what happens when 15 teenagers run a shift.
So maybe I had high expectations before our visit to Forage, but I was just plain let down. I made an 11:30 reservation for brunch on Sunday. It was surprisingly not busy, and we were taken right upon arrival at 11:20. After ordering a blood orange mimosa (not worth the extra buck over the basic one) and a bloody Mary (a highlight of the meal), we ordered our meals shortly after. Long story short, our party of 4 had their food arrive an hour and ten minutes after that. Quiche and greens were lukewarm and not worth $21, fried chicken was delicious but with cold biscuits and gravy, and 2 kids french toast was decent, but overall I dont see how those items took over an hour to make. Our second round of drinks came halfway through eating and wouldve been nice while waiting for it meals. I think we may have just fallen victim to understaffing but the three hostesses who hung out at the front counter the entire time tell me otherwise. If someone just forgot about us, I wish we would have just been told that.
I am writing this review as I am eating food from this restaurant- no need to say I had to keep my food away to take efforts to give review for this restaurant-First of all, when we (party of 8) came here, we had to wait 15 mins before someone came over to ask for our orders! We ordered vegan cauliflower as appetizer which took 20 mins to get on our table! I- being a vegetarian- ordered cauliflower taco- which basically has same stuffing as that of the appetizer we ordered- it literally took 50 mins to get on our tableApart from our drinks- I would say I didn’t like anything they brought to us! The ‘Best BLT’ that I have attached here- had burnt bacon’ eggs this is the service we got after waiting for an hour! In addition to this, the service here was horrible! I am giving review first time in my life for some restaurants! It’s unfortunate that its a negative one
Everything plant based exceeded expectations. The crisp vegan cauliflower wings were thicc, crispy, and savory-sweet!Vegan hot chicken sandwich had a mushroom centerpiece that would make a carnivore display pavlovian responses.Vegan Mac and Cheese reminded me of my grandmothers recipe, but with 100% less cruelty to animals.
This is by far one of my favorite restaurants not only because the food is unique and incredible, but because they obtain much of their ingredients from local sources and are completely transparent on where your food comes from. The drinks are clever, and the food is on point, with interesting twists. that tantalize your taste buds. Ive tried several of their vegan options, despite not being a vegan, and loved each and every one, especially the Cauliflower Bites and their Mac and Cheese. Also you can never go wrong with the chef picked charcuterie.
Bartender did not get my order right an I never got my food bc kitchen closed. I know I was detailed in what I wanted an I articulated precisely. I am disappointed in the service I was given. I go out to restaurants all the time an I feel like I was treated poorly. This is only my second bad review in my life.
This place had reviews that were all over the place but I really liked their vegan selections so I made reservations for Saturday night, Valentines weekend. OMG! This place did NOT disappoint! I had the vegan chicken n waffles (the special looked amazing but had just sold out) and my carnivore boyfriend and I shared the crispy cauliflower which is also vegan. All I can say is wow. The food was fresh, presented well, delicious and reasonably priced. I cannot wait to return on our next long weekend trip to Cleveland!
The waiter was awesome and the drinks were nice but the food or lack there of was a bit disappointing. I ordered the HASH N CURE which is described as: slow braised ohio beef brisket, kennebec potato hash, hillandale farm eggs, pommery aioli, green onion. What I got looked and tasted like basic corned beef and the hash was just 2 whole roasted potatoes. A friend ordered the mushroom linguini only to be told they were out of as the rest of the tables food was coming out, so she ended up just kind of sharing our dishes.Maybe its just because they werent properly prepared for business after the panorama but not sure Id be back.
This was a perfect clambake. We have been looking for one that just had seafood. This clambake had mussels, shrimp and clams plus corn and potatoes all served in a large bowl with the broth in the bottom. It was seasoned with wine and garlic and served on the side was a plate of crusty bread for dipping into your broth. There was a salad of baby greens served with a tasty but not overpowering vinaigrette. I asked for butter for my bread - I did not need it. It was a long, leisurely meal. We shared the appetizer of mushroom toast with a poached egg and we both enjoyed it. We shared a flourless espresso gluten-free vegan dessert served with whipped cream and fresh berries. All the food was topnotch. The table next to us had both the schnitzel and scallops. They looked great and they both said it was wonderful. The menu was extensive. We will definitely go back.
Fried chicken sandwich was awesome. May be the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Duck and dumplings was also great, nice balance with the duck and sweetness with the sweet potato dumplings and huckleberries. Would definitely be back here again. Service was great too, very attentive and friendly.Lots of families here so don’t feel shy coming as a family.
This was my first time dining here and I was pretty impressed by the presentation the food, A+. Every dish we ordered however, was very very very garlicky. And that is coming from some one who puts garlic on almost everything. What can I say? I love the stuff. I do like to taste the food itself though and not have everything taste like one thing: garlic. Our server marie made sure we had everything we needed when we asked for it and was very nice. We will definitely be back again soon to try something else, maybe with so much garlic in it.
This place is the most inconsistent restaurant I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been served good meals and served bad meals. But what really upsets me is the hours being inconsistent. Right now at 9:10 I’m being told “the kitchen is closed” even tho the bright light outside says open and the google page says open until 10. I’ve been experienced this restaurant closing hours before the site states it closes. Be honest and change your hours if you are closing. It appears that you guys don’t have much of a system at all. Never returning. I do not recommend at all!
Was recommended here by a co-worker while I was looking for a healthy option for lunch. My eyes got super big after seeing their prices for a simple lunch salad but he said they were worth it so I decided to give it a shot. Ordered online and went to pick up. It was a little hard to find as its not a stand alone building like Panera or Aladdins near by. Its under Lakewood Center North with parking right out front. Order was ready on time, place had such great vibes I almost stayed to eat in. Loved the decor, customer service was good enough for a to go order. Got my salad back to the office and was less then impressed when I opened the box, for $12 I want my box stuffed! lol but when I took my first bite it was clear that this was absolutely worth the price!!! It may have been the most flavorful healthy salad Ive ever had. (The Big Greek Salad) I will definitely be back! The dressing alone I wish I could buy in a bottle!
Our group of 4 really enjoyed the cauliflower and calamari appetizers. The cauliflower bowl was a very generous serving, enough for all and if you like hot sweet chili sauce youll enjoy these delicious bites! I personally enjoyed my walleye taco more than the chicken overall. The service was great and it was a beautiful night on the patio. Id return for another dish from their wide variety of offerings. Oh, and the rum pineapple basil cocktail was a delicious treat!!
Love the food, worst service ever. Just spent 30 minutes sitting at a table with no waiter. Took 10 minutes for someone to seat us. Place was EMPTY, and their 3 employees somehow couldn’t figure out how to seat and serve a table. I’m the furthest thing from a Karen but this place is whack! The food isn’t worth the horrible service.
Really nice interior and patio but the food is the highlight of this gem. A lot is locally sourced, sustainable and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Homemade ketchup, dressings and non vegan options are equally as good. Very broad and great craft beer and wine selections as well.
Ate here on my last day in Cleveland. Surprised on how good everything was here. Atmosphere was a nice mix of casual but fancy enough to feel like a special occasion. I especially loved that the mussels came with fries so I didnt have to order that separate. Mussels and fries, its a thing.
Cute atmosphere and dining room. Nice bar area! Unfortunately, slow service and not very attentive server. Food tasted great but shrimp tacos were so saucy and juicy it became soggy if you ordered more than one (pic attached). Overall, would come back if in the area, but not a go-to.
The bar/patio area is a very nice space to enjoy a meal. Off season, the indoor dining area is also good. The food is always good but but not great. The management/service of Forage is an absolute failure and has been for as long as they have been in business. Some advice to Forage ownership: Hire a professional management team to run your business.
I honestly do not understand the hype surrounding this restaurant. Its an attractive space with a nice patio, but the food is far from impressive and way overpriced. Our server was great and did a nice job but aside from that, the dining experience was wholly underwhelming. To begin, the menu is all over the place and very odd. Not sure what the inspiration or theme is supposed to be: New American? Southern-inspired? But then there are tacos and a Cubano sandwich with mortadella, 3 variations on chicken and waffles/pancakes, appetizers that dont necessarily pair well with any of the entrees...super random. I enjoyed my cocktail (local spritz) as it was the most flavorful and attractive item in the entire order. My chicken sandwich was super dry with thick, almost burnt breading. Its surprising to me that such an unattractive sandwich would have made it out of the kitchen -- gives me the impression this is the norm and not a one off on their part, reinforced by the fact that this was my third disappointing visit to Forage. My boyfriends mushroom papardalle smelled good, but was in dire need of salt. We did enjoy the bread pudding a la mode but agreed it was more reminiscent of fruitcake or a sweet take on stuffing. Im curious to know if brunch is any better but hesitant to spend another $70 on bland, poorly cooked items just to find out. It really is a shame because they have a great patio and a friendly, hard-working staff. Doubtful that I will return but if I do, itll probably just be for drinks.
Absolutely delicious Fish Po Boy! The batter was delicious and light, the quality of fish shined through and that delicious slaw with a hint of heat was the perfect acidity it needed, Well done guys. Also had the Crème brûlée and it was to die for. The floral notes of the vanilla in the perfectly baked custard was impressive and even though I had a to go order the sugar still cracked perfectly. The berries were a perfect touch to it as well. I would highly recommend this place. Full of flavor.
If I could I would give zero stars. The beginning of my dining experience was pleasant the Cleveland nachos were tasty and a decently large portion. But the nachos were the ending of my enjoyment of the meal. If you choose to go to Forage, do not get the chicken and pancake. It took over an hour for our food to reach our table and when it did it was burnt and soaking with grease. I could understand a mistake slipping by if it were busy but there was barely anyone in the place. Three other tables who sat after us got their food before us. The waitress apologized repeatedly but did not comp our meal or do anything else to improve the experience. Overall it was frustrating, a waste of money and not something I would recommend.
I love it here. I only order a couple things but they’re always consistent, friendly and fast. Most of the staff are very pleasant, there’s literally only one girl WHO works the bar that doesn’t speak or acknowledge me one time she walked past me twice without even liking my way but again she’s the only, she coat their review a star
I like the locally sourced menu items. Prices are very high, and the quality does not justify them. Dine in is always a bit of a wait, understandable, but service never made me feel great. Recently ordered take out with family in town, they forget to make an item so we had to go back and wait and were treated like thats what happens when using an online ordering platform. Have never really had a great experience, but willing to try again.
Went on a Wednesday evening and the service was terrible. Madeline took over 30 minutes to get our drinks. We ordered right away and our appetizer was brought out with our food over 45 minutes later. The appetizer was not edible and had it taken away. We ordered the pretzel and it was hard as a rock from sitting under the heat lamp. Our server was not attentive and the whole experience was disappointing. We ordered burgers and fries for our meal. Food was not worth the price.
I visited with my mom and niece one afternoon around 3. Place was pretty empty , but it still took about 25 minutes or more for our food to come out. We asked for the wings to come out first but it all came out at once which wasnt terrible but would have been nice to have something to munch on while we waited. The tacos were pretty underwhelming for the price. The wings were kinda dry as well. Pretty disappointing overall for what we paid unfortunately. Was looking forward to trying this place but probably wont be back.
Food was good, but our server immediately told us she was busy and then was incredibly short with us to the point she was rude. Everyone at our table had either 10+ years of servicing, hospitality degrees, culinary degrees or a combination of those so while we can sympathize with her it doesn’t make poor service acceptable. I tip 20% everywhere regardless of service and it’s always disappointing when I feel like I was the one who ended up getting stiffed. With 2 experiences of bad service and ticket mistakes in a row the food isn’t enough to make up for it. We shouldn’t be waiting 10+ minutes for water refills (which we had to request), we shouldn’t need to ask 3 staff members for butter that was requested when we ordered, and we never had a single check back after our food was dropped at our table on either visit. I’ll be back in a year hoping for some staff turnover.
No longer a place-to-be for cocktails. The drinks still sound good with prices to match, but theyre not worth half that.Food is better than it was over the summer, but still missing a few favorites on the menu since before the ownership/staff changed. Taco Tuesday prices are a regular item now. 👍
Extremely slow service. Server took our order 15min after we were seated. Didnt get silverware until 5mins after our appetizers came. Server promised he will bring a small piece of cake to celebrate our friends bday but that never happened. Ordered Best BLT ever but it was sitting at the counter for too long and was served cold to me. Even then, the thick slice of bacon on this BLT was burnt and it felt more like a worst BLT ever. After letting server know about this burnt bacon feedback, he just looked and hesitated as if I asked him to get that off my bill. Appetizers were served along with entrees which doesnt make sense. Having said that, Cleveland Nachos was really good and is a must try while Spicy Cauliflower was worth a bite, too. If July 4th evening is an excuse for below average food and service, I dont know what to say but I am sure owner/manager are smart enough to handle such problems.
Stopped by today because the weather was nice. Servers are slow and very rude. We were seated for at least 15 minutes before anyone stopped by. No one checked in when we were done. When we asked the only person we could find for the check, she responded, exasperated, Oh? Uh yeah, Ill tell your server, I mean I dont know who she is but Ill let her know. Okay? Why the attitude? We dont know who our server is either! You work here, we are being ignored, and we are literally just asking for the check so we can leave. Definitely wouldve stayed for more food and drinks if the service was better. There is no need to be rude with your customers. Find better staff. Wont be returning here.
Eh- just so-so. I had gone years ago, and remembered the burgers being great, farm to table food, and it looked chic and cool inside- They used to have a special on Monday nights. The new owners stopped that, and the decor looked different to me- not sure if it changed but it reminded me of a common hotel bar/restaurant. I got two tacos and because of a gluten allergy, I asked them to sub with a corn tortilla. One of my tacos was cold, and the tortilla was so stiff and dry that it tasted like I was chewing on cardboard so I couldn’t eat it. The other taco was better, and warm but definitely not hot- spicy though, which I really liked. Overall I wasn’t impressed with the menu, which seemed to be all over the place, and unfortunately it looked a little dirty behind the bar- Probably won’t return as I wasn’t wowed by anything there. Okay for a quick meal -
Very nice environment. Quick service with respectful workers. Our waitress Sandra was amazing! On point with our order! Attentive with requests and overall pleased with her personality! Forage is definitely going to be a a place I’ll suggest to friends and family for the great food, alcohol and service!!!
Duck was very good. Salmon ok. Breakfast came out with sauce on it even though it was asked for on the side, daughter reluctantly said she wanted a new one. Young adults steak was ok. But the ketchup is off putting if you dont know that they doctor it up with ingredients.Little disappointed they didnt offer us dessert. Felt like we were rushed out. It was about 830 or so, had two younger kids, who ate oysters, and mussels, and are very well behaved. But GF felt like they rushed us out to get them out.Id come back.
I went to public house tonight and the service was terrible with our server Madeline. It took over 30 minutes to get drinks and we did not receive our order until well over an hour after our reservation. Tables behind finished their whole course before we received our appetizer. The appetizer was hard for sitting under the heat lamp. Very disappointing for our first visit here. Will not be returning
Best food I have had in a few years. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegan dishes. I am a carnivore and couldnt believe some of the apps were vegan. Chef Mesrobian came out to chat with us a bit and explained everything that goes into the vegan items. I am very impressed. That guy apparently knows what hes doing.
We have not been here since before pandemic. We have decided to celebrate my husband’s Bday here because of their patio and weather cooperating. We were not disappointed, patio is specious with lots of greenery, heaters are available for cooler days, spacing of tables adds to the feeling of safe and pleasant environment.Add to this great service, interesting drink list and oh! Incredibly tasting food and you know you need to come back. Some people are concerned with higher prices here ( quality and taste of food totally justify them) but let me tell you, you could walk out of here after eating only an appetizer and be completely satisfied. We paid $100 for beer(3) and sangria(2), an appetizer (poutine), tacos (2), duck dish, deserts (2) and felt that it all was well worth it.We do not feel comfortable with inside dining at any place but with this patio and food we will be coming back even on the cooler days.Great job Forage. Please keep it consistent for every visit.
Nice atmosphere and good service. I ordered their walleye tacos for lunch. They were OK....I prefer a soft corn tortilla vs flour and the fish not battered but grilled with a tasty sauce with a light pepper kick.My friend had the mussels which were tasty but wee small. The crusty bread was good and ample. There could of been lots more broth to dip that crusty bread into.
I was not impressed. I had chicken and biscuits with fruit, however the fruit was moldy. I sent it back. Chicken was sinew-y and not a good cut. My friend had mussels which she enjoyed, however some were sandy. You think if youre charging upwards of $20+ for an entree youd make sure you have quality ingredients. I wont be coming back.
Looking for a nice place for a date, followed by a walk along the lake to catch the sunset? Forage Public House is the place for you. The staff was really nice, even after a drink was spilled. Their menu has some taste to it, also including multiple vegan choices. I chose the vegan Chicken and Waffles, Im not even vegan, but it was AMAZING! The cocktails were very well made as well! I will be back!
I had a virgin Bloody Mary with an oyster. It was very good. The Bloody Mary was just the slightest bit spicy and had a good tang. The oyster was also very good. Also, we sat outside under a heat lamp in the January sun. The service was good and we were quite comfortable.
Food is amazing. I usually door dash but I walked in for the first time. I ordered for pick up the hostess never Acknowledged me but proceeded to seat two Caucasian women as I stood for 10 minutes waiting on a pick up door dash that was right in front of me and I had to read and grab myself.
Great that Thursdays are vegan night! The cauliflower appetizer was very yummy, and the vegan chicken and waffles were good. I never had that before. The vegan chicken is made of flaky-breaded mushrooms, which were also very good. Decent selection of craft beers. The drinks took a little while to arrive sometimes, and one was forgotten, as well as a soup, but all was made right.
This place was recommended by a girl in our group of friends who is vegan. She likes introducing people to vegan dining, and I am looking to learn more about the cuisine. So yesterday after church a group of us went to give it a try.The interior is very clean and spacious. Simple decor with a slight rustic air. Our server was very kind and understanding, especially considering there was 10 of us.The menu has a nice selection of vegan, vegetarian, and carnivorous options. Locally sourced ingredients are a huge plus. While there are plenty of menu options, I dont feel the quality of the food suffered for it.I sampled the Vegan Mac n Cheese, which a little sweet for my taste, but still a nice dish. The Devils On Horseback appetizer was a delectable combination of cured pork belly and medjool dates that melted in your mouth. My Amish Chicken Sandwich was crispy and tender, nestled nicely on a buttery brioche bun with a touch of honey.Overall a wonderful experience that embodies what I am looking for: locally sourced ingredients prepared with love and care. An excellent location for vegans and non-vegans alike, I highly recommend stopping by!
Wonderful locally owned upscale/casual eatery. It focuses on local and regional ingredients and a simple menu with plenty of options.its a bit pricey to eat there every day but I would make it the place to go for a good meal outside of the home. Ive had the fried chicken and the burger. Both were excellent options. I would chose the burger cooked to your preferred doneness with fries. The fries are cut and fried in house and are pretty delicious. The overall ambiance is very clean with broken up areas by different styles of tile. Very chic and comfortable. Havent had a bad waiter yet but Ive only been there twice. Very accepting of dorky dads lol.
Just moved to Lakewood Ohio. Trying all the new restaurants out after everything has opened back up. You would think that restaurants really want to please their customers. This is not the case with this restaurant. I heard so many good things about it and tried it when my family came into town. God were they disappointed. I did not receive two sides and my kale salad. The chips were burnt to a crisp, and the food literally looks like they foraged it from their backyard! I have written maybe three reviews in my life for bad service. This is one of them. I informed the manager on duty right away by phone. He stated that there’s nothing that he could do but his general manager will call me. HE DIDN’T. Two days later I called back and they tell me that they’re looking into discounting the order. I told them I’ve already put a dispute in. The manager says, OK. they did not offer to make it up to me and I never got to speak with the general manager. I am sure it was an off night, but all restaurants need to be on the game at this point in time. I may try it again later after I’ve tried the other hundred restaurants in Lakewood.
It took a long time to get our food--the place wasnt crowded but there was a large party of 15-20 people which may have slowed the kitchen down. The potine appetizer was delicious and plenty big to share. The menu had lots of interesting choices. I would definitely go back to try some of the brunch type selections. This visit I had a cheeseburger and fries. It was very good, but I didnt care for the large amount of salt and pepper they sprinkled on the accompanying tomatoes and the lettuce wasnt fresh. Great ambience though. This place could be 5 star with faster service and a little more attention to detail.
Decent food but overall, this place has a bit of an identity crisis. Is it new American? Is it bar food? Is it Asian? The menu drifts all over the place with some of its rotating offerings. Ill say the ambience is great and the staff are nice, but Im not here to hang out with my waiter in a cozy restaurant. Hope this place figures out a more concise viewpoint for its offerings. And does them a bit better than Ive had before.
Great gastro pub. Food is consistently well prepared and tasty. I am moving my rating from 3 to 4 stars because the last time we were there the bartender/server was super friendly and attentive. Prior to that our recent (I have been going here for years!) experiences left us feeling rushed and unwelcomed. Our love for the food kept us coming back.
I had lunch with my sister and enjoyed the walleye sandwich. We had warmed cider with a shot of bourbon to drink. When we asked to have a little more cider to warm our drinks, the waitress said she could not give us any unless we bought another cup of cider per her Manager. We weren’t happy with that response when we saw we were charged $11 per drink.
I had a salad, I think it was called Lakewood. It was really good and fresh. I also had a side of fries which were really good. The chardonnay was tasty. I originally wanted tacos because it was taco Tuesday but they were out of Sofritas which was a bummer. I also wanted samosas and they didnt have those either hence, only the four star review. Seemed like they had a lot of vegan and veggie options on the menu regardless of what they didnt have. The interior was nicely decorated. I will be back.
Hidden great spot for a nice dinner that is a little more than casual but not swanky. The food is top quality, inside and patio are fun, we had the cauliflower it was amazing. had many other entrees and they are great. Beer is priced good here. Wine and other stuff is priced a little high
We chose this place because of its relationship to another restaurant that we love, so naturally our expectations were already high. We were FAR from disappointed. It was an extremely tasty experience. From the simple well balanced preparation of the cocktails, to the off the beaten path approach to calamari, to the perfectly seasoned entrees which included one of the best pork shanks I have ever had. I cant forget the best key lime tart I know to date. The only drawback was the fact that the waitress could not suggest a favorite because she loves it all! She was awesome too. We brought friends who are getting their feet wet with the restaurant hopping reputation the we have. They have officially assigned us the task of picking every place they go out to eat. Great atmosphere in lively Lakewood, upbeat staff with excellent knowledge of the menu. Will be back!
Food was very good, but service was off (we had Laura). Im not sure if she was training or had a social disorder (dont we all), but energy was totally off. She pushed for beverages and cocktails at the beginning, but we declined. She came back and asked again, this time suggesting an Arnold Palmer. I didnt want to keep saying no, so I asked for one. It tasted like sewage water. I had a few sips and that pint glass stayed practically as is. Server was still off and Im not sure if she didnt want to work July 4th. The way she was saying Yep and Sure and acting robotic. And she didnt notice that I didnt drink my beverage and still got charged for it. She also missed a small simple request to leave out the pickled onions from the salad (again its no big deal) but I dont know what it was with her attention skills. As for the food, no complaints! That Amish brisket was fantastic.
Service was great. Brunch was disappointing, especially having heard such good things about the food. My waffle was dry and chewy, and my Vegan meat (fried mushrooms, I believe), were cold. My wife and I will likely come back to see if we just landed on a kitchen bad day. Hoping for a better, tastier experience.
I loved this place! It was a relativly fancy environment but didnt feel snoody. Came for the impossible burger however they dont have it anymore. They did have the beyond burger, and it was delicious. They cooked and dressed it well. Fries were 5 dollars extra but they brought a lot of them. They had one or two other vegan options on the menu, including chicken and waffles.Decent beer selection, bit could have had more micro brews, especially for a gastropub pub. Their signature cocktails on the other hand were various and looked interesting. They also had several kinds of mead which I thought was interesting.Overall, as I said, I loved this place, but wanted to leave a detailed and honest review. You guys rock though, keep up the good work.
First time here. Food was phenomenal! Lots of gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options. As some one with celiacs its been a long time since I had dessert at a restaurant and 3 out of 4 options were gluten free. We had the flourless espresso tart al la mode and were in heaven. We will definitely be back. Only suggestion...offer a gluten free bun option for you tasty sounding burgers!Almost forgot to mention the atmosphere! Super cute inside! Great for a date night!
Absolutely Awesome Food!!! Love the wings, The burgers are always cooked perfect and the fries with bone gravy and Lec cheese curd is out of this world. The blueberry ricotta cake is truly the perfect way to end a meal. The service was perfect and as always looking forward to going back.
Great place for fresh, clean offerings. A good selection of vegan / veg offerings. Generous portions. The vegan meatloaf sandwich is a favorite. Patio seating is nice in the summer and the indoor space is quiet enough for group discussions. Service is always friendly.
This is a classy spot right in the heart of downtown Lakewood. For purposes of clarity, it was a nice day outside and I was the only person dining inside. That said, Ive been in this situation before and still had slipshod service. Not so today. I sat at the bar and Amber the barkeeper couldnt have been nicer or more attentive. I had a draft offering from JackieOs from the generous draft list and brunch was the highly recommended biscuits and gravy and eggs. The biscuits were a cornmeal base and that fooled me since it had virtually none of the grittiness of cornmeal. It was a nicely executed dish. The place itself has come a long way from its Pacers days and has a clean and modern look and feel. Its the type of place that works well as a date night destination.
Definitely a hidden gem. Happy to have discovered and had this experience. This location is all about the experience. Something that most restaurants don’t cater to anymore. Firas made my day . I stepped out the box and tried the jalapeño corn pancakes . To my surprise they didn’t disappoint . Firas strives for excellence and, insisted in pushing the bar. I tried one of his favorites which consisted of a crisp sandwich with bacon, spinach, tomato and house aoili topped with sunny side egg. My glass never hit the half way mark, and Firas was a great conversationalist. Made it worth coming out the house and experiencing this.
Great food but slightly inconsistent quality. I love the environment inside its very low lit and intimate. Theres also outside seating right in front which is nice. Service is almost always excellent. Somewhat pricy but the portions are generous. Their menu is all locally/regionally sourced ingredients if i remember correctly
Your staff sincerely needs to learn between the 2 burgers you claim to have on your vegetarian menu. You have impossible burgers, yes. This restaurant does not have beyond meat burgers and they sell 2 different burgers even though they are really the same. We even ordered both just to receive 2 identical bugers. The management is disrespectful and rude (although our server was very kind). Please visit other restaurants that actually serve a beyond burger: fast Eddies, Fat Heads, etc. To better understand the difference. There is a reason I chose a beyond burger over an impossible one, and the impossible burger is essentially the fast food of vegetarian burgers (hence why burger king sells it). There is a very distinct look and flavor between the two.. Had you simply acknowledged you were out of the correct burger instead of wasting food to prove a point (which was unsuccessful), i would have left a much happier customer.
I am a regular. I go here mostly for their good selection of beer and great bar service (Brittany is awesome). Recently went to the brunch...giant plate of food, same great beer. Took a bit of time, but nothing outrageous, and the food was worth the wait.My only suggestion would be to have a separate fish fryer... I would LOVE to try your frites or chips and cannot due to cross-contamination.
First time visiting but will definitely return. Shared the mussels app - prepared with a very tasty broth, garnished with crisped potatoes that were also garnished with an aioli. Outstanding. Also tried the schnitzel - huge portion with a crunchy sauerkraut / Cole slaw salad and cheddar infused mashed potatoes. Delicious. Shared dessert of Mitchells Ice cream. Service was friendly, prompt and quite accommodating to others in our party. Overall a very good experience and certainly recommended.
There food use to be really good. They must have recently changed chefs or under new management because the food does not taste the same. It was extremely disappointing. The vegan mac and cheese use to be my favorite dish, so rich and delicious. Now its watery, yellow as the sun (looks like they use cheese wiz) and very dry. :(
I used to love this place, the vegan options were out of this world. However, my partner and I went for my birthday dinner and I ordered my usual, the vegan Mac n cheese, which was terrible. Bland and gritty, and his impossible burger wasn’t any better. You can tell there are no chefs there anymore who know how to make the most of plant based ingredients, nor do they care to. So disappointed and won’t be returning.
First time eating here. Ordered the Diablo cocktail, Greek salad, Salmon, and husband ordered the Impossible Burger. Everything was great until the salmon came out. It was not seasoned in the slightest. I was hesitant to complain having been in the industry for years. When I finally did, our server, Dee, noticed right away that it didnt look quite right, missing visible herbs and spices. She immediately offered to have the kitchen fire me a brand new one right away. Shortly after, the GM Danielle came over to apologize. She was very friendly and good at her job. I said Id hate to waste the food I didnt eat, so she boxed it right up for me, no questions asked. The new one came out smelling wonderfully and looked visibly different than the first. Upon my first bite I was elated! The flavor was all there and it was obviously wayyy better than one without the necessary seasoning. I ate the whole thing. Husband got the creme brulee while I finished dinner, which was a great dessert. All around great experience, in what is sometimes an uncomfortable situation. The staff was seamless and efficient. Great work! Will be going back soon!
I work around the corner from this restaurant, its a close walk and an easy lunch, I just wish I could say that any of the food is good. Ive given it so many tries (dinner twice with friends, lunch 3 times at work) and every time no matter what Ive gotten, the food has been terrible. I got the wings for dinner one night and they were so soggy and cold it was a pile of mush. The fish sandwich was nearly 95% dry cornmeal, the chicken sandwich was chewy and tasted like they fried some of the leftover fat and threw it on a bun. Everyone in my office warned me about how bad it was, I guess I just gave the benefit of the doubt too many times.
This is a very pleasant restaurant with a separate bar area. The lighting is dim. The street view superb. The staff are always available and plentiful. The food was upscale. This is a place to go to have a conversation uninterrupted with by TVs showing on every wall.
1 star - Extremely unfortunate FIRST experience with Forage Public House, due completely to customer service. To begin, my husband and I were welcomed by an empty hostess booth and waited a few minutes before someone yelled can you cover the front? After being seated, we looked over the menu and chatted for at least 10 minutes without any service or greeting. Be mindful the restaurant was probably at or below half capacity with at least 6 waitresses, each of which proceeded to only glance at our table. Finally a waitress noticed our impatience, asked can I help you with something? and said someone would be right with us. Another few minutes passed without any service so we decided to leave. On our way out we mentioned to what we assumed was the manager that we never received service even after asking, to only be met with a blank stare and Im sorry... It was blatantly clear our service was not valued.*REVISED REVIEW*4 stars - Forage Public House was kind enough to reach out and rectify our unfortunate first experience. Their burgers, fries, appetizers and service were spot on this time! I would definitely recommend dining at Forage Public House for my friends and family.
Went there yesterday for the first time, staff is really nice. But I am expecting from a restaurant that advertises on being healthy, to not use cheap unhealthy oils with all their options. They tell you where the chicken you are About to eat has lived but cook everything in soybean oil. That is very disappointing. I guess the Restaurant must save somewhere. I will not return nor recommend to my friends.
Went here on a Sunday night. It was cool because they were not busy at all. Parking is on the street which sucked but we found something bc it was Sunday I think. We ordered appetizers, the crisp cauliflower and vegan mac. The cauliflower was pretty good but the mac was terrible...it was very dry and bland. I am not picky at all and was very hungry but I couldnt eat it. The manager came by to ask how things were and when I told her the mac was dry, she took it off the bill. I told her the cauliflower was great however. A few minutes later she came back with a complimentary crisp cauliflower from the general manager. I appreciated that gesture. Our burgers arrived shortly after. I got the beyond burger and hubby got the impossible burger. Both burgers were good. I think they should have burgers and fries as a meal however (fries are a la carte). But hubby didnt like the fries anyway so it may work next time. Vegan mayo would be nice too. They did have vegan ice cream for dessert which was nice considering a lot of places may have vegan food but no vegan dessert. Overall I would recommend and return. Our server Mandy was awesome as well as the manager.
The Mushroom Toast was fantastic.Im a carnivore, but I didnt miss the meat meet with this dish.Great taste and texture. The wife is vegetarian. She loved the Chicken and Waffles. She Raved about the waffles (wouldnt let me try one)She did let me rare one of the chicken mushroom pieces.WOW!
Out of ALL the restaurants I have been to in Cleveland(being a New Yorker), which is quite a few, Forage is by far my number one favorite. Wonderful service, inviting atmosphere, and of course, AMAZING food. Everything that comes on your plate is locally made, including the ketchup (which is also amazing). My favorite and only thing I have ordered here is the Hamburger which is cooked to perfection. The prices are reasonable and I couldnt ask for anything better. This is a MUST-GO.
Very delicious food from here (I had the brisket sandwich)! Didnt know it existed in the big building near the corner of Detroit and Warren. Our waitress was nice and personable, with good suggestions for food and beer. Also the restaurant believes in local-sourced food, so that was a plus. Great al-fresco dining outside as well.
Dont come here unless you like to be ignored and get sick. I will say the First time was a good experience (summer 2018), we came in for lunch during the week with family but how things have changed since then.Been there twice since the summer after hearing about their $6 dollar burger special on Monday. (Usually they are $10 plus) Seems like a great bargain for how much they pat themselves on the back for being a fancy establishment and how expensive the menu is. Both times Ive had the $6 dollar burger however I had to call in sick from work the next day and lost a days pay.Worse still, last time we were here we waited 20 minutes or so to be acknowledged by anyone after being seated. It was a Monday and boy was it dead in there yet no service. I eventually hunted down a manager to ask her if we could please receive service as we were quite ready to place our entire order at that point. After I sat back down in our booth, I could hear the waitress protest. She was going on about having too many tables before she reluctantly came over to us at the demand of the manager. (That part I dont really understand because aside from the bar it was dead in there, maybe she was referring to earlier in the night?)My girlfriend who was celebrating her birthday ordered breakfast for dinner but felt like it was left overs from Sunday brunch the day before. Her meat was dry and chewy and the burger I was giving a second chance made me sick. The manager did comp our appetizer for being sat and forgotten which was nice but hardly makes up for the overall bad experience. The appetizer was the only satisfying part of the meal to be honest. Despite poor service I tipped the waitress $20 on a $65 bill (including comp) because I was once in the food industry and I can sympathize with a rough night. In hindsight it was a complete waste of money and time. Wish I wouldve taken my girlfriend anywhere else for her birthday. My girlfriends birthday dinner was terrible and when I ordered desert making it very clear it was her birthday the dessert arrived with no candle. To be clear I didnt expect the staff to come over and sing happy birthday but a candle without me asking wouldve been a nice touch. Not sure what has to give but hiring a new Chef may be a good start so people dont receive stale meat and get sick.
Hospitality an 8 (not greeted upon arrival;mgnt did a flyby at end of meal), but Service a 10. No WFPB menu items, except for customized salads, but loads of vegan options if youre able to do oils. I went with a work group and everyone loved their choices. Coworkers all agreed the crispy cauliflower appetizer was awesome! PS - parking structure in back of building, but there is street parking as well.
First time brunching at Forage and we really liked it. Ordered the French toast and egg sammy, both were tasty (and indulgent, of course). The only downside was the lack of coffee selection - it wasnt listed specifically on the menu, and it didnt appear they had cold brew, cappuccino, etc, just straight brewed coffee.
Place is ok , service pretty bad when I was there on Fathers day at around 5pm, the hostess was quick to seat us provided us with menus than we waited 25 minutes till the server actually came to.our table lol and it was downhill from there , but the place has potential I guess
Came here after reading other reviews, and boy does it live up to the hype! Amazing food, wonderful ambience, and attentive service. Highly recommend trying some sharables, such as the cauliflower and mushroom toast. If youre a foodie like I am, you wont be disappointed!
I liked this place for the atmosphere, service, and food. It has a public house feel that could use a little more cozy-ing as its ultra basic with wooden tables closely spaced together. The bar is enormous and takes up much of the space as soon as you walk in. We were seated promptly and checked on numerous times. I ordered the pomme frites which were overly priced considering they were nothing special that you would get any where else. No extra crisp or seasonings to make them unique. For entrees, my date got the chicken tacos, which were very wet but decently sized. He said they were good, not great. I got the big Greek salad and really enjoyed it. The oregano was a weird touch, but I liked how fresh it was and the vinaigrette was just right. Overall, it was a good experience and prices are similar to other fresh offerings in this area.
After being sat we waited for 20 minutes and then were given water and told that our server would be with us. Eventually our waitress came over and said What do you want? We placed our order and asked for refills on our water - the refills took 10 minutes - the food took 35 minutes. Within 1 minute of setting the food down, the waitress was back to ask us how it was and we had not even taken a bite yet. We then didnt see anyone until our meal was complete and we had to call them over to ask for a check, after sitting with empty plates for 20 minutes. Upon getting the check, we promptly put our cards down and then continued waiting for 15 minutes before again calling someone over, this time the manager, who said that hed run it immediately. This took 10+ minutes and he somehow ran one of the cards on a different check and had cancel it and come back to confirm our order. We then had to make sure he cancelled the first charge because he did not explain the situation fully. There were no more than 8 other tables there when we were and the restaurant was not busy. All in all, a very unsatisfying and disappointing dining experience. I just moved to the area and will not be returning.
I am basically voicing my frustration after several attempts to find out what their vegan choices would be in Thursday....we were told,on thursday at 1:00...they would not know until 4:00 about the vegan menu. I fine dine and talk with other restaurants. It is rather hard to fathom that a restaurant would not know until an hour before service...what they were serving. What chef does that?
I had one of the best evenings there my roommate and I last night. Dinner was great atmosphere fantastic. And where do I start with Isabelle. Some aquire great server abilities but shes a natural. Warm friendly considerate. She was fantabulous..lol. She was patient while we decided was social and she was the whole ball of wax. Thank you Isabelle. Youve renewed my faith in customer service which a couple bad experiences burnt me out on. Wonderful service!...and great compliments to the Chef. God bless you...
Good craft beer selections as well as some good specials throughout the week. Im a vegetarian and when they first opened a few years ago, I didnt see as many options on the menu that didnt have meat or didnt sound too obscure. We were just there last week and my wife got a traditional burger and I had to choose from the Impossible Burger or another comprable vegetarian burger. We were both pleased with the results! Also I saw that they had a vegan Mac and cheese and I think the menu said Mondays that they run meatless specials. For those who remember the location as the old Pacers, its come a long way from that dumpy environment. Similar floor plan but cleaned up and looking more inviting. And they now have a bathroom in the restaurant so guests dont have to walk around the 1st floor of the office building to use those restrooms. And they have outdoor seating and it doesnt place you right at the sidewalk or curb side on busy Detroit Road. You are up against the office building with some buffer so you can still see whats going on in the area without it being loud or too distracting.
The food was pretty good. I appreciate the local ingredients but at the same time, a lot of them are not really local! There was nothing about the experience that justified the price tag. Its about $70 to get a drink a dinner for 2, which I dont mind paying except the experience was nothing I couldnt get anywhere else...again, the food was good but eh...not $70 good. Our server did the normal server thing, but came just at the tail end of everything she was supposed to and constantly hustling like we were not a priority, which was weird because no one else was there, again, not the level of service I would expect for a place that charges $18 for a bowl of pasta....and she was really loud considering we were in a pretty empty room, just a couple people at the bar. This is the 3rd time I have been there and have had similar experience every time. I used to frequent Pacers (like 2-3 times a week) so I really tried to like this place (since I live next to it) but its not somewhere I would bring other people to impress them, more like a place I would go when I was craving mushrooms and felt like spending money on an expensive meal just for the sake of dropping money on a expensive meal and I agree with the previous post....very lackluster veggie menu, but I appreciate the few vegan things they do have!!!!
Theu always have reliably good food and solid cocktails at surprisingly reasonable prices for being locally sourced food. If there is one stand out item for me, its the cheese curds - as someone whos spent a lot of time in Wisconsin Id say that these are as good or better than almost any Ive had out there. They are an unfortunate rarity around Cleveland, but Forage breads and cooks them perfectly and pairs them nicely with some dipping sauce and pickled veggies.
This is a fun location to have drinks and dinner with friends. Parking was a little bit challenging because you have to park in the street which on a busy night can be very difficult. Aside from parking 2 blocks away once at the location I was very please to see how clean the environment is as well as how accommodating all the staff are. The food selections were plentiful and the pricing is fair. Overall a good location to visit
What a great menu! 1/2-priced wines won me over from the start. Pickle Daily included a curry-brined hard boiled egg. Never had it, loved it and will try to find something similar to share with friends -- yummy and so unusual! Tomato bisque - terrific. Entrees were roasted salmon and shish kabob -- excellent. Dessert was a chocolate creme brûlée mousse - blissful. It was an outstanding evening!
I didnt think I was going to like this place, but it was really really good. The confit chicken wings and poutine were delicious. The rag stew was great it was like a pot roast on top of mash potatoes. Only reason not giving it 5 stars was the service was subpar, but other then that Ill be back.
Demetrius Athenos does it again. Great food and awesome beer selection. The chicken tacos were very good - pico, grilled onions, cheese, micro cilantro and grilled tortillas. Juicy and plenty big enough - not your typical skimpy tacos. My wife said the tomato bisque was one of the best shes ever had and the Lakewood Citizen salad was great. Great service, great menu, great experience. If your near Valley View, check out his other place, the Oak Barrel, which is also excellent.
I came here for my 26th birthday and I am back for my 30th birthday! Alex was my server tonight and he is a great listener, very friendly and very personalable! We had the vegan cauliflower which was out of this world. I always come for the burgers and they have never disappointed me! I love Forage so much- the best thing is the fries with the herb aioli yummm!
I think that the food at Forage may be consistently the best in Lakewood. The bar is excellent too, especially when Tommy is making the drinks. If youre more into style than substance, it may not be the place for you. But if you value quality ingredients artfully prepared, Forage cant be beat.
I continue to be impressed by the staff at Forage. Having very severe allergies, where even the slightest amount of cross contamination causes anaphylaxis, I am confident dining here. Our server Antoinette was knowledgeable on the preparation of our food, and made certain to instill confidence that we could dine safely. She knew what needed to be omitted or subbed from the plate. She mindfully informed the chefs and manager, and clearly understood the seriousness of my allergies. (Shellfish and nuts)We definitely will be back, and are happy to pass along this is a restaurant that cares about its guests. The Duck Confit is my new favorite!
Started by searching google for places to eat in Lakewood. Came across Forage Public House and the menu on the website looked so delicious! The food was awesome. Highly recommend it here. The tacos, chicken sandwich, mushroom toast. I could go on and on. So satisfied.
Expensive, not impressive food. They try to make fancy stuff but the taste is simply not there (this usually happens when youre not able to cook simple food either). Portions are small. Service was nice but pretty slow. The place looks nice inside. Parking can be a problem if its a busy night.

2022-03-14Me and my family visited 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 yesterday evening and the experience was definitely appreciable. We were seated and taken care of within minutes of arrival. We ordered a mimosa 🥂 , a cider drink 🍺, side salad, crispy vegan cauliflower (delicious), fish po’ boy sandwich (great walleye!), shrimp 🍤 linguine 🍝, French toast, a side of seasoned potatoes 🥔, and 3 Amish chicken tacos. The food and service were both great and I will be returning soon with a different party! Good eats!

2022-05-23My husband and I were out on a rare date night. We arrive at the restaurant around 8:50 on a Saturday night. There were only 3 other tables with people dinning in and a gentleman at the bar. We were immediately given waters and asked for our drink order- we ordered said that took a few minutes to get to us, we ordered in appetizer to split and it took almost 20 minutes for us to get that- before the appetizer was brought out we were asked for our dinner order- we ordered. The appetizer came out and it was wonderful- delicious. We then waited until 9:35 to get that. Presentation was amazing- food was out of this world- at 9:42 we were the only people in the restaurant- and the waitress began to vacuum while we were eating our meal. Thinking we were closing down the place we threw a few more bites back- the waitress asked if we needed anything else we said no and asked what time they closed- she told us 10:30/10:45- it was 9:42 when they were vacuuming. How rude! We paid our bill and left. To say the least the service was not good at all. The food was amazing- I would order take out but I do not recommend this place to eat in. Unless you want to feel like you are bothering them.

2022-06-13After having a terrible meal the previous day at another restaurant in town, this place was just a saving grace! Yes its a bit expensive at roughly $20 per meal or more. But honestly, worth it. I had the breakfast for dinner and the scrambled eggs were just the most perfect I have had ever, like Gordon Ramsay style scrambled eggs to perfection. Chicken was way better than most restaurants I have ever been to. Biscuits were good sized and the sausage gravy was the best I have had, probably ever. The service was great, the lemonade was great. Overall super pleased with this place and will come back if Im ever in the area again!

2022-01-23Jess was a great server during a busy Saturday night.Cozy ambiance complimented the fantastic cocktails we had. The espresso martini was exquisite with cloud like foam on top and a dark but perfectly sweetened drink beneath. My girlfriend loved loved loved the fish Po boy, shes still talking about it the next day! Fries were amazing as well. I got the vegan chicken and waffles, I respect the effort but some of my mushrooms were a bit sour and mushy. Overall I think another meat replacement or a more standard fried mushroom variety would have worked better in this dish. But not bad!

2021-10-25The happy hour is really great!! Half off certain apps (including this giant plate of nachos), $6 cocktails, $2 domestics, etc. and it’s Mon-Fri until 7pm. I’ve never had anything on the menu I didn’t enjoy. The patio is great when the weather is nice!
