My children and I recently visited Riverside to see all the Christmas trees displays and we loved it! I loved seeing all the different organizations display their trees and also offer brochures for their programs that I did not know existed! We had alot of fun and as always the scenery is always breathtaking and we take such beautiful pictures here. We are so thankful for Fellows Riverside Gardens.
Lovely gardens! I’m from Cleveland, but after this first visit, I hope to go back and take some friends who would enjoy the gardens - as well as other parts of Mill Creek Park. I especially loved the shade garden, and the water fountain with the little girl drinking from the pool. A very nice gentleman was sketching a tree in the shade garden. If I lived closer to Youngstown, I know this would be one of my getaway places.
This was the first year I ever visited in the winter. It had snowed the day before, leaving a blanket of the white stuff about eight inches deep. I was surprised and pleased to see a path had been cleared on the walkways around the circumference of the park! The vista of Glacier Lake covered in snow was beautiful. Fellows has become a year-around favorite now!
Great local garden and part of Millcreek Park. The tulips bloom in Spring, these pictures were from late April. Great place for photos! There are nice little sidewalks to walk on and a fountain that is on in the summer. Great variety of flowers and blossoming trees. Peaceful place to visit.
The gardens are breathe taking. All year around. You can also go inside they have a gift shop and kravitz deli! They have a botanical library on the main floor angst an art gasket that changes year round. On the bottom level there is a hall for banquets and a little museum about the history of the park.
No matter what time of yeah I visit this place, I always find something new and beautiful. Spring, of course, will bring beautiful flowers. I am accompanied by a 2 year old who loves to explore the grounds with me, and she loves the serenity just as much as I do. There is s cafe we stopped at for lunch this time at the the main visitor area. It was quite upscale, and i was nervous about taking my daughter in. To my surprise the even offered a kids menu and were very accommodating.Photos from very early spring. Most of the flowers were not up yet, but we had a wonderful time anyway. This is the first time we discovered the fairy garden and we are excited to return. Once more flowers have bloomed.
If you love gardens this one tops the cake. It has a bit of everything for everyone from a formal rose garden to wide open yard area gardens to hardscapes including a gazebo, metal sculpture garden and more, to wooded nature trails paved with wood chips to guide your way, to perennial and annual sun and shade gardens... too much to describe, this is situated at the north end of Mill Creek Park by Glacier Lake and offers stunning vista overlook views. I walked this garden for 3 hours and still wanted more time. Even on a mostly cloudy and rainy day this place was wonderful. You’ll experience a fantastic tree that is full of history... walk underneath the flora and see what I mean! Do. Not. Skip!!
A-MAZ-ING Rose Garden! All plants are labeled so beautifully. The walkways are clean and leads you to magificent wonders. This was my first-time visit. I have the National Botanical Garden in my back yard in Washington D.C. This place certainly reminded me of home!!! ❤🤗❤🤗❤
Beautiful place to visit to take photos or to unplug and just take in the natural beauty. Late spring would be the best time to visit youll find a variety of roses, tulips to rhododendron and boxwood. For the best view of lake Newport use the main entrance make a right at the fountain bow down to the gazebo and use the provided binoculars for a couple coins and try to spot a deer!
I wish I could go here after single day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The vernal beauty of Riverside Gardens in the warm months of the year is beyond words impressive. The staff is courteous and very friendly. They keep this place in tip top shape! ...and they also do yoga, mediations, etc there under the pavilion. I am going to sign up for a class after visiting the gardens today. Thanks!!!!!!!!!! Ryan from Ohio
We only had a short time to visit, but the garden was tended nicely, we didnt have any bugs attack us, there is a good view of the lake. There were at least two pavilions and a very nice fountain. The parking lot was newly paved, and the bathrooms in the parking lot were clean.
This is the most beautiful gardens I have ever visited!!! I had my Senior pictures taken here back in 2000. We were just there a couple weeks ago, taking my oldest daughters Senior pictures for 2021, she graduated in May 🥰😍Back in Sept. 2002, my cousin had her wedding pictures taken in the gardens, and at the Gazebo. I was part of the wedding party!!!Suffice it to say, our pictures back then and now, came out wonderful. Thanks so much to all the volunteers and donations for making this such an amazing place for the public to view and enjoy!!!
This is a beautiful place to walk around and chill out. Well kept grounds, places to sit and a beautiful fountain. They also have a Cafe with delicious food and outdoor seating. Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful and educational, plants and trees are labeled. Enjoy a relaxing walk and learn something at the same time.
A must see if visiting Youngstown. The grounds, though small at Fellows Riverside Gardens, are well maintained. Beautiful views of the city and Mill Creek Park. Childrens area and activities (see calendar) are available; lunch at café with outdoor seating; library; art displays (which rotate), look out tower, and gift shop.
If you are from the Mahoning Valley and have never been here, what are you waiting for?? Stop out during April or May in particular and savor the beauty of these gardens. Also be sure to check out the scenic overlook views of Youngstown on the one side, and Lake Glacier on the other. These Gardens are a gem☺
The wife and I decided to get pregnancy photos for the rest of the family. Were new to this area so we werent sure where to go. The photographer suggest the gardens and it was awesome. The fact that there were at least 4 other groups with the same idea as us should be proof enough, but the entire area is beautiful. Well kept flowers and trees all over the property. There are multiple gazebos and walking paths. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a back drop for any kind of pictures. Or anyone just looking for a quiet place to walk around.
This is proof that there IS a God, and he loves this garden! Ive been away from my beloved Mill Creek Park for over 15 years and went to see The Rose Gardens as we used to called them on Mothers Day.My sons and I spent many afternoons there while they were growing up...many memories sharing the day with great grandma....This year for the very first time my daughter in law got to enjoy the gardens and she loves them.Mill Creek Park is Youngstowns legacy, keep it beautiful.
This is a lovely place to go. We visited The Davis Center and the cafe during this trip to help some older friends with their smart phones. We ordered coffee and tea and one pastry. We were there quite awhile occupying a table. The staff never bothered us except to ask if we wanted more coffee. They were very pleasant considering we were there quite some time. On the way out we walked through the small art gallery which always has painting displays on rotation. The art was beautiful. We also walked past the gift shop but did not go in. Its a very nice gift shop. Ive been in it previously. They have a nice selection of gifts. The gardens are beautiful to walk through during the spring and summer, and even in autumn. I couldnt recommend this place highly enough.
After reading an article of the best places to visit in Ohio, we were baffled how we had never heard of Mill Creek Park. So we decided to hop in the car and take the hour-ish drive. We stopped at Lantermans Mill, the Suspension Bridge and ended at Fellows Riverside Gardens. This garden is absolutely stunning. Everywhere we turned, there were more ohhhhs and ahhhhs. I cannot wait to go back and explore this park and see this garden in the different seasons. This is a great place to see all the beauty nature has to offer and to reconnect.
Absolutely loved my experience yesterday!! All of the displays, from the recycled Christmas woodland scenes to the vast and diversified decorated Christmas trees and the lighted indoor and outdoor displays were creative, bright, beautiful and completed the holiday spirit! How fortunate the two bridal parties, there for wedding pictures, were, to have great weather and beautiful surroundings! ♥️♥️
Beautiful! Even though it is a little early in the Spring, there was plenty to see. A great variety of flowers, plants and shrubs; some of which were in full bloom and many others in pre-bloom. A great destination year round. Visited with a handful of boys (5-10 years old) and they didnt have a problem keeping themselves entertained. The grounds are big so they were able to run about without upsetting the other visitors.
What an absolutely adorable place! My husband took my son and I to lunch today on work break and it was so nice. Food was delicious, spectacular view, and the staff were very friendly. They were also setting up and decorating for Christmas. The decorations and the Library are just lovely! I recommend the Rueben for lunch! Delicious! So nice when a small place like this offers a childs menu! Major plus when you have children!
Beautiful. The rose garden is very nice. Walking around on all the various trails is so relaxing, with plenty of benches along the way for those of us that need to rest now and then. The boys found so many different insects. They loved it. I especially liked the little library inside the building. You can sit in a comfy chair, reading a book, looking out onto a great view if so many trees along the creek.
Beautiful place! Lovely restaurant on site. Also there is a public restroom and a gazebo for weddings. In fact, a car with a gorgeous couple in full wedding attire arrived for pictures before their reception while I was there. :) They have the most beautiful roses of many colors, (of course) so photographers will love to visit to obtain some great photos! In the spring & summer months (for a small fee), they offer outdoor yoga & gardening classes too. You can Google Mill Creek Park for more info about Rose Garden and other Park activities. Wonderful peaceful place just to walk & relax as well....just beautiful.
A lovely gem tucked into Youngstown. Its free to walk around the gardens, we spent almost two hours exploring when we took the children on a spontaneous visit after attending a family event in the area. Theres also a nice gift shop and photography gallery inside. One suggestion is to avoid the gardens on Saturdays in the summer, if you want a more private and quieter visit, there were three weddings there the day we visited so trying to avoid the areas they were taking photographs was not an ideal situation. Other than that it was perfect.
Fellows Riverside Gardens was absolutely breathtaking over Labor Day weekend in 2020! The roses were in full bloom and the grounds could not have been more beautiful. Its a shame the building is closed to the public but its still worth a visit. I did not notice any bathroom facilities available. I didnt even see a port-a-john. That fact didnt seem to be prominently featured on the website. At any rate, it was a wonderful opportunity for photographs and spending time with family. Plan your trip according to your bathroom needs, however.
A gorgeous building inside a beautiful park. It was built with two things in mind. To blend in with the natural surroundings and to take advantage of its location where visitors can enjoy nature at Mill Creek Park. Today we enjoyed many orchids on display around the main building and a photography show in the gallery. In the Spring and early Summer you can walk the grounds and be overwhelmed by the sight of tulips and daffodils. Then later the smell and sight of roses bushes in bloom.
Omg, this place is the place, it is so beautiful, I loved all the flowers, and its so big u r not rt under ppl, grate place to have a wedding, or just a special place to take someone u care about 😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍 I love it ❤❤ take ur loved ones there they will love it to, I promise, 🤚
The flowers and scenery here is beautiful. The rose garden is really pretty. The facilities here hold many functions throughout the year, including my absolute favorite, the pumpkin walk each fall. There is a little outdoor learning center for kids where they get a chance to get their hands dirty for some fun with bugs and outdoor play.
Great place to just get away from the craziness. You can walk throught the gardens and just pretend your in a picture book. You can sit down in the shade and enjoy the beautiful scenic environment. You can go to the cafe and check out all the unique and exciting events they host in the center. The gallery always has amazing artwork on display. They offer classes and workshops that are well worth it. The library there is a great resource for botanical and gardening information as well. Highly recommended.
Very beautiful and impeccably maintained. Their staff must be incredibly hard working.Lovely Family Gardens with frequent childrens events. Super friendly staff that seems to genuinely enjoy teaching the kids.We especially enjoy Family Fridays all summer and the free pumpkin carving in the fall!
This place is absolutely magical in the spring and early summer. But autumn, OMG! PLEASE, if you decide to visit this park, read the rules. Its so important to preserve the integrity of our parks. The bathrooms outside are air conditioned in the warmer months and heated on the cooler days. They are also very well maintained.
Gorgeous, elaborate, and green grounds that are meticulously taken care of. They celebrate the four seasons throughout the year. Bring your strollers, boots, or sandals and walk for exercise and meditation throughout the gardens. Enjoy Gods creative beings--humans, chirping birds, buzzing bees, and sun. The mixture of aromas are intoxicating.
Always relaxing and uplifting to visit and walk the paths. The thousands of blooming daffodils in the spring are a must see! Then the tulips! What a stunning sight along with the spring flowering ornamental shrubs. If you love gardening and flowers, then youll want to check out the summer perennials in bloom for inspiration. And the rose garden is true bliss! I cant believe how many local people say theyve never been to this free local paradise! I love the extras too, the bee hives behind glass for observation; the gift shop loaded with beautiful and unique items (they have the best cards), and the cafe! And all the fun seasonal events! This place is a local jewel, and we are so lucky to have it!
A good place to enjoy the quiet. Gardens are beautiful. Check for free events going on there. I especially like the plants sales in the spring. Watch for family days when they have activities, those are always fun too. Stop inside for a bite in the restaurant, grab a special gift in the gift shop or look up something in the library.#letsguide
I grew up with this park and in the past 15 years, it has really grown (and continues to grow) into the gem of Youngstown. This is a great place to come in all seasons as there is an outdoor and indoor section. There is a cafe and shop, but you can spend several hours here exploring the exhibits and enjoying the park without having to spend money.
Top-notch spot for the Youngstown area. If you are visiting Youngstown, or just are a local resident and want somewhere to relax, the Gardens are the perfect spot to visit. A huge variety of plants and flowers. My wife and I love walking through during the different seasons to see everything in their various stages. We love that the Gardens are constantly growing and changing (no pun intended) and always look forward to more visits.
My wife and I stopped at this lovely spot on our way home from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Which I think makes for a well balanced weekend trip for couples. It is free to get in, plenty of parking and acres of natural beauty. It is fantastic way to spend a few hours if you are in the area.
I loved the formal gardens. We visited in late spring and found blooms everywhere. The overlook of the river should not be missed. I particularly liked that every Bush, tree and flower was named, both common and scientific. The gazebos and pavilions should not be missed either. This is a must see for the gardener.
Simply the best public garden in the Mahoning Valley & beyond. Take a walk & see lovely old growth trees, including many extrodinary varieties of conifers, bushes & flora . With slightly rolling terrain, winding paths, & moss covered rocks, it has a fairytale like feel. The gardens have 2 terraces, one at each end. One overlooks the city of Youngstown, the other, beautiful Glacier lake. It also features gorgeous statuary, lovely fountains, & a wedding perfect gazebo. Spring is especially magical, there are thousands of tulips, daffodils & hyasinths, all maticullouslly planted for a visual parade. Visitor center offers ever changing inspiring exhibits, a bright cafe, & a nature inspired gift shop that rocks! Fabulous rose & dahlia areas in summer. Childrens garden is terrific, truly hands on, whimsical, & edible too! Its a wonderful place, anytime, any day, for all to love & enjoy!
Beautiful place to take the family. plenty of scenery and trails to walk on. they have really cool public events occasionally and a cool gift shop inside the building, very unique items and decorations. love it all. they also have really cool books about the history of youngstown.
Beautiful place for a lovely outdoor stroll. This is not an indoor botanical gardens. All varieties are outdoors and appropriate to grow in this climate and zone. Plants are mainly perennial, tree and shrub with some annual varieties on border beds. Paths throughout the gardens include beautiful shade beds a d ground covers on hillsides for erosion control. Sun areas include varieties of roses as well as other blooming perennials. Great for a relaxing afternoon, or for a place to get inspired.

2022-01-30I went to this exceptionally lovely place for brunch. Kravitz deli, which has a small kitchen there, has a gorgeous sun-filled spot for a very tasty breakfast and lunch. The interior spaces are so special, with massive walls of windows, alcoves, places to read, gallery artwork to peruse... classrooms, a large event room, and incredible views of the lake and park. Theres a library, a gift shop, and other cool attractions. You could get married here, or have an art show, have a small conference, a weekly meet up with your friends...so many cool things can happen here!

2022-06-12These gardens were surprisingly serene and beautiful being that close to civilization and free. There were multiple paths meandering in and out of different areas. Each area had a slew of plants all tagged providing ideas for your own home. The grounds were pristine proving why there were four weddings onsite.

2021-08-17Beautiful gardens with a formal feeling. The gardens and pathways are meticulously maintained. The pathways are mostly wide and smooth, very good for those with limited mobility. We were there for only an hour late afternoon after a bike ride on the nearby MetroParks Bikeway. We will be returning when we have much more time to see the entire gardens.

2022-06-10I love going to these gardens because I learn so much just looking at the different species of plants and flowers and how they can be arranged in pots. When the tulips are in bloom its absolutely beautiful. Very cute shop inside where you can buy things for the home that you wont see any where else around here. Their little deli is both inside and outside dinning with a great view of the lake. Spend the day!
