The business is terrible buz I PAID over $17 for one plate of food and you can eat as much as you want but I did not finish my first plate, and they still wanted me to weigh the rest and pay for the difference to take it home which was wrong cuz I would have to paid more than $17 of my first plate. VERY BAD BUSINESS.Even the waitress working there, she thought it was wrong for the man to charge me extra.
We have a 3year old grandson who is very picky on what he eats. We called and asked the owner if we could bring fries in for him. He said No. They do not have fries and my grandson would not eat any of the food they have. We have been going here for many years on a regular basis. Now that we have to find a new place to eat Chinese. You have lost a loyal customer
EDITED after reflection. Buffet has a very nice selection on the buffet. REAL fried rice. Lo Mein noodles have a very nice slight smokey flavor...The best noodles. Has bbq rib tips were nice. Has 3 options of sushi. But 2 have a pickle in them. Cheap tasteless sushi w only fake crab. I dont like them.Other foods are seasoned very nicely. Steam table could be hotter. The eggplant had awesome flavoring but was ice cold. Staff is very polite but sometimes sit on their cell phone in the corner. Wait staff are local KSU students. Mgr is very nice. The Chicken was flavored awesome but was also cold.Overall nice little buffet. One salad table. One dessert table and two hot tables w all the basics and soups.I do prefer Fun Buffet in Twinsburg as my favorite. And also Katana Buffet in N.Canton. both are 4.5/5 stars.
I live in Kent and I have never tried the Evergreen Buffet. The buffet is now self-serve as of March 22nd, 2021. I visited on the 23rd. The buffet itself was 8.50 for an adult and 3.99 for my five year old. The selection at this particular buffet was not the greatest and there was only three types of sushi to choose from. Masks are to be worn while at the buffet getting your food. Hand sanitizer is readily available and they try to social distance the tables/booths. The staff was very friendly. I would not mind coming back to give them another try as the food was pretty tasty.
This place is worse buffet I ever visited don’t believe on their google pictures not enough items as they charge. So don’t waste your money at this place cashier was rode other stuff fine if we spend this amount royal buffet and dragon buffet is 100 times better then this
Wed tried this place randomly after finding out the place we wanted to go to was closed and Im so happy we ended up at evergreen. It might be my new favorite buffet, the food is so good and they have a great variety, the staff is so nice and attentive, great first experience. The inside is a little dated but dont let that scare you away the food is great and its clean just dated.
Food isnt terrible, but it isnt amazing. A bit inconsistent, some days the food is good and hot, others the food seems a bit old and its cold. But, for being the only buffet in Kent and really in the area, its not terrible if you are in the mood for Chinese and do not want take-out.Edit: With prices going up, the buffet is hard to recommend when New Peking in Streetsboro has more selections and is cheaper.
Ive been going here for 3 years consistently, and the food and service is always great. Ive noticed a lot of negative reviews of late, and Ive been present for at least one of these incidents mentioned in the reviews recently. When you go to a restaurant you are supposed to be respectful, keep your children in line, eat your food and tip your servers WELL. 4.3 million workers in America live on tips and tipping is an American custom. If you think that you shouldnt tip because youre in a Chinese restaurant, or that you should be wasteful or rude, you are the problem. Chinese people are no different than you or I, and the staff arent there to have a confrontation bc you dont like the prices or policies!!! If you dont like it, dont eat there. Dont make a spectacle, dont leave a mess, keep control of your children, and tip your servers. Its not hard. Food costs are exorbitant right now, and the fact that this business managed to stay open throughout the pandemic with their dedicated (and mostly the same) staff is a miracle. Prices are cheap, always always always consistent, from the food to the service. They have always been very kind and respectful to me, as Im there every week like clockwork, and the food is sooooo gooooood🤤☺️
Not the best buffet, not the worst buffet. veggies sre fresh usually, meat dishes are comfort level yummy. just a few kinds of cooked / fried fish sushi, nothing fancy or raw. their ice cream machine has a horrible metallic taste. the management is aware of it but says he wont fix it because it is too expensive. Hes been saying this for nearly a year.
Evergreen Chinese Buffet is a quaint buffet that offers delicious Chinese cuisine!! Ambiance is quite pleasant with comfortable booths or tables for dining. I have been a regular customer for many years and I love that their food has remained, consistently, fresh and delicious! Employees are always welcoming and friendly! Our server, Eileen, so hospitable....attentive to all of our dining needs! Theres always fresh shrimp, sushi, a delicious eggplant dish etc, included in lunch buffet ... #YUM! Theres something for everyone! Shout out to restaurant manager, Matt, always welcoming and friendly! Check out their website for a look at their awesome menu!#SatisfiedCustomer
Me and my 3 kids went in today as we are visiting from Florida and the food wasnt horrible it was the owner and the waitress that were horrible. My 8 year old nephew got some jello didnt finish it and granted he grabbed to much but the owner then says to me is there something wrong with the jello to which I replied no he is full. He said well we dont waste food here to which I responded Ill pay for it but he said it was ok. I stewed on this for a minute and it really started to annoy me that he approached me over some jello thats probably .50 a box. So I mentioned it to the waitress and she was a major bitc!! I basically told them this wasn an all you can eat buffet and thats what I paid for and people waste sometimes sorry hes a kid but then she went on and on about all the people wasting then I told her then maybe it should be a menu ran restaurant not an all you can eat buffet it ended with me paying my bill and leaving this place the owner and the waitress are terrible I do not recommend going there!
They are the worst Buffet ever!!! The owner doesn’t understand that here in america you get to choose to tip your server. Owner also doesn’t understand that here in America at most buffets people don’t leave 20$tips for a server for a buffet and especially when you get one drink. I have been here three times and every time we go he is nasty and rude to us. He hates children and even having to see them. my littlest is not the best of always getting the food in his mouth and drops it. But as a courtesy we pick it up. The owner is unreasonable and you should never go there especially if you have a group of 6 or more they will treat you poorly and just add onto your bill as they see fit…. This is America and I can’t choose my servers tip myself based on performance. However They believe you should just be paying there employees so they don’t have too… plus the ever time we go there the food isn’t that good it’s dry over cooked like it’s been sitting out for hours and isn’t even real Chinese…. I will never be going back. I would suggest China city if you want Chinese food! Will never go there again!
Me any fiance went there for a date night and wasnt worth it . the general tso was cold and slightly pink and some pieces was hard and overcooked which I cant have because im pregnant. The rice was hard and cold tasted like its been sitting there for awhile. I did get sick from eating it unfortunately not going back there . it wasnt worth $40
You get what you pay for doesnt apply here. Cheap prices and great food. The teriyaki chicken sticks specifically are WAY better than any other chinese buffet ive been to. Theyre gen tsos/orange chicken/etc, unlike in most buffets, is not dry or over breaded, but tender and juicy. This is our new favorite place!
Normally I love going here for a quick lunch or dinner but lately they have been terrible. Food is disgusting and cold. Cant get a waitress to even offer a drink refill. My wife and I stopped for a quick lunch and the whole 30 minutes we where here the waitresses sat in the corner talking and not once even checked on their tables or offered us a drink refill. Place has really just gone down hill!!! Wont be going back anytime soon....
This place is super tiny. Not much of a selection at all. The white rice was dry (they didnt have it in that cooker pot, just siting out uncovered.) The waiter was nice, always came to check on us. But that was about all I appreciated there. And as always the bathrooms were gross.
Owner/OP lost his mind, trying to charge people extra for any uneaten food from the buffet, no matter how cold, old, or how violently sick it will make you.Shouted at and berated us at our table in front of other customers and our waitress for having the gall to not finish something inedible (totaling half a plate of freezing meat) that we got from his buffet.Literally ruined our outing and tried to push my partner into a panic attack, nearly had one myself as well.Completely out of his mind.Heartbreaking.Will never be back while still under this ownership, even if he were to apologize. He got completely out of line and showed his true character. Was unbelievably inappropriate, I have never had an experience like that in a restaurant before in my life.
The food was horrible. Used to be one of my favorite places. Even the ice cream was bad. All three of my kids did not enjoy it either. I couldnt even finish my 1st plate. Now my burbs smell and taste like garbage. The new owner is not doing a good job. Definitely not worth the $60 I just spent. I will never go back.
I love this place!!! The staff is so friendly and quick to help. Even through the virus they have done a great job. My boyfriend always goes in and orders full containers and the staff treats him like family. Great food at an amazing price. Highly recommend the crispy chicken as well. Thanks to the staff and all the employees for making each visit a wonderful experience. You have my buisness from now on!!!
We went there tonight at 7pm on a Sunday for my moms birthday. They no longer have the free birthday meal. I had weight loss surgery and can only eat about a cup of food and asked for a kids meal. No discount there either. The food was not hot and my daughter got sick and ended up in the bathroom within 10 minutes after eating. I had been glad that the restaurant survived Covid, but I will not be going back.
They make the best fried rice I’ve ever had! They are also super nice and allll the food is really good. I’m a vegetarian and there are still plenty of options for me. The sushi is really good, the cookies are really good and I just always have a fresh delicious meal from here! They really are keeping everyone safe with the new covid set up, the food is complete secured and away from the public and the prices are low for such good quality.
One of my favorite places to get take out. The people who work here are super nice. He always remembers my order!! Pick up time is very quick and you always get fresh food, plus it isn’t expensive. The portion is really large also. I went for the buffet one time and it was pretty good, too, but I think takeout order is likely better.
It was better than last time I went. The food was all fresh and hot. They were continually bringing out food to replace what was out on the bar. The waitress was doing a good job at picking up our old plates off of our tables as we were going to get more food. The restaurant was clean. Everybody was very friendly.
Very nice Chinese Buffet, with a good variety of food that is delicious. Small place, but large selection & fair pricing.Much nicer than other buffets that I have been to.Drove from Cuyahoga county to visit on my birthday. They have a birthday special. Definitely will go back very soon.Great pricing for kids. They have take out that definitely beats fast food.Friendly staff & very nice area... worth the drive (nice drive), even if not near Kent, Ohio.
I hope the owner of this restaurant read my review u have a very very very bad and rude person on the register who wear the glasses and he call him self a owner he is litterly abused me and I came this restaurant everyday and he was yelling at me in front of other guests I would not ever come and reccomend to every one just avoid this restaurant I wish owner of this restaurant read this review and take a action if u want to survive ur restaurant in pandemic period b..alarm alram alram very very very and rude and abusive person on the register
Nice environment, super friendly staff, reasonable price. My only issue was with the food. We eat at different Asian buffets and the food here was lacking in basics. The food trays werent replaced when they got low instead they just put hot/fresh food on top and left it. Many of the trays looked like they had been in the buffet for many hours and the old food showed. We will find a different Asian food spot in Kent.
Very displeased with this visit. Showed up 50 minutes before close. We asked upon arrival if they could make some fresh seasoned chicken. We were told yes yes. So we wait for 30 minutes and watch every pan that comes out of the kitchen. Finally I went back to the kitchen door to ask about how much longer it would be and was then told nno Were not making anymore, eat something else.So I paid for a full price buffet to eat an egg roll, soup and a crab wonton while I waited for food that was never really coming. Gentleman at the cash register told me come in sooner next time. Apparently 50 minutes isnt enough time to make seasoned chicken. Only every other type of chicken they have, but not that one.
My family and I have been coming here for years and have generally had a pleasant experience, but not tonight. I didn’t really appreciate the OWNER literally yelling at an entire family, and really the whole restaurant, that we should not expect fresh food at a buffet. In my opinion, that is NOT how you handle customer concerns. At least not if you want them to keep coming back.
PANDEMIC REVIEW: Small chinese buffet converted into 100% counter serve. You show up, get in line, and point out what you want or order off a menu. The good was ok. I mean, you either like cheap Chinese buffet food or you dont. The selection is small. 4 or 5 kinds of chicken with different sauces. Lo mein, some sushi and fruit. I had lo mein, lemon chicken, crispy chicken, and some gyoza. Nothing was terrible. Cost is somewhere between $5-$6 a pound and $8 worth, which is a pretty stuffed container, gets you a free soup.
Average buffet faire. Wasnt the best Ive had but it was good enough to eat. Our server was very kind and on top of his tables. Tried the ice cream, got a metallic taste when using the spoon, switched to wooden chopstick and no metallic taste. Pretty sure its the spoons.Id come here again.
GO BIG or GO GOOD... They did neither. Mediocre dishes - not overly stocked, not overly nice. NOTHING worse mentioning, nothing I tried I had to go back for except Hot & Sour Soup - perhaps it was very good - or perhaps a lack of options.Either become a SUPER buffet or go the route of a dozen total dishes that are really good. Trying to keep up with 30-50 dishes when you have a dozen customers - doesnt work.
I went with my family of 4 today and was highly dissapointed. Not only were there a poor choice of foods, the quality was horrible. Hardly any meat in the dishes. It seemed like an amateur prepared the food. My 9 year olds could do better. I will never go back again because it was the most dissapointing chinese buffet I have been to. It was only made worst when the 50 dollar bill came for the 4 of us. If I felt the quality was worth it no problem but I am disturbed by this place.....but the waitress was nice.
Extremely good and well maintained Chinese buffet. We love going there for lunch, and it is even better since they added sushi. Thumbs up for Evergreen Chinese Buffet!Update 5/2019: A few months back my spouse & I went for lunch. They now have sushi! Tasty & very nicely presented!
Good service but the only thing worth going here for is the 2 varieties of sushi. Otherwise save your money for some place else. They put corn in the egg drop soup, there is some sort of unnatural red dye on the meat, and most if not all of the food at the buffet has been sitting out for who knows how long... not my taste, especially not for the price, and not worth the time in the bathroom.
My favorite Chinese restaurant. I moved to Tennessee and nothing as good down there. I eat there everytime I come here for a visit! My favorites are the lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, fresh green beans. They also have peel and eat shrimp. They even have ice cream for dessert.
Basic Chinese buffet with most of the necessary lunch components. There was some confusion when I observed some beef and chicken dishes that had normally have white chicken or brown beef that had reddish chicken and beef, leading me to assume that there were more than one leftover item that was used on the lunch buffet on the date of my visit. Sushi sitting on a tray on top of cold bar was not properly chilled. There appeared to be 2 flavors: Brown and Red, and I am in no way being catty when I say this. Garlic sauce? Brown. Sweet and Sour? Red. Beef pepper steak? Brown... You get the idea.In addition, IMHO, restaurants that require the servers to prep vegetables IN the front of the dining room during a lunch service at the same time that they are serving and removing dirty plates from guest tables are unacceptable on several levels, both sanitary and with regard to the fact that servers are paid less than minimum wage plus tips, and their legal scope of work does not include doing kitchen prep in the dining room between tables. Yes, this happened, thus the 2-Star rating.
Not bad for a basic Chinese buffet, but if youre expecting high quality look elsewhere. Avoid dinner. Its about 12 dollars a person and isnt worth it. Lunch is affordable at 8 dollars. The staff are nice, keep the restaurant clean, and buffet stocked. Overall, good on-the-dime buffet.
Evergreen buffet offers a quiet and relaxed dining atmosphere and serves usually fresh Chinese food in a buffet style. The staff, while not very infectiously enthusiastic or generally happy to be serving you, are very attentive when it comes to refilling your beverage. The food is very good when its fresh! Great seasoning and proper cooking technique. Unfortunately throughout the slower points of the day, food is not rotated or swapped with fresh food. Rather its left on the buffet to dry out. I have noticed that if theres something that you want that the buffet is out of or that is dried out and lack luster, you can ask the expediter who restocks the food on the buffet periodically. Overall Evergreen Buffet is a good place to go to get buffet style Chinese food in Kent, Ohio. (The only place actually.)
We have been eating there for a few years now. Used to love going there. However, over the last couple of months we have noticed the quality of the food has declined as well as the prices keep going up. They have even started to charge 3 bucks for a pot of hot tea that was previously free with your meals. Then the waitress brings us the check in the middle of our meal!!! I think we will be looking for a new chinese restaurant.
Our family really loved going to dinner here until our last visit. One of our sons had a rock in his desserts. We quietly brought it to the staffs attention. They took it to the manager. He never came and spoke with us. We were not even given an apology. Very disappointed. We will not be coming back.
Terrible food. We went for crab legs and they had no taste. Butter? Taste like oil. Pot stickers were too hard to eat. When we ask the watress to get the manager, she said ok than came back and said he was gone. The nice guy at the register took responsibilty for the manager and gave us a discount. I actually felt sorry for the staff.
Not a large selection, Ive definitely had better elsewhere. The pork egg roll had only cabbage in it. The buffet only had one beef selection and one mixed beef, pork and chicken, all the other meat dishes were chicken only and most of them were overcooked and/or dried out. They might as well call it The Evergreen Chinese Chicken Buffet, IMO.My advice, take your $12 for dinner and spend it elsewhere. ;)
We went for dinner last night and the food was either stone cold or barely warm. We told our server/waiter and they blamed us for taking food from the top and not the bottom and the A/C was on... NOT OK!! We’ve patronized this place for years and it WAS a good Chinese Buffet. We won’t be coming back here anytime soon!!
I love this restaurant, the food is amazing as well as having many great memories of celebrating birthdays and other occasions with family some of whom are no alive. I just had dinner on my birthday last week, and it was almost as if my mom and brother were there with me . This is definitely a great place to visit time and time again.
It used to be wonderful when it 1st opened, honestly the best around now its... Gone way down hill, food is average, prices are the same and it feels like your constantly being rushed and the employees sitting at the back tables just love to watch you and chat amongst themselves about you. Not exactly the best dining experience.
Evergreen is awesome, the buffet is amazing, the vegetables are so fresh, the employees are very friendly and professionals, fantastic food, Im always stuffed when I walk out of the evergreen Chinese restaurant. its definitely a 10 in my book, highly highly recommend a great place and great food to go eat, what are you waiting for get there now! they call me Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Dirty, fried pot stickers smelled rotten. Carrots in the salad bar were all white and dried up how can you serve that. General So was dried and hard on the buffet. Dried food on wall in the booth I sat in, clearly saving that for later? Servers were not friendly and throwing things aroumd clearly dont like their jobs. Such a negative experience Never again
Well it used to be 5 stars until the recent change in owner. We have gone for yrs every werk and this year it has been once a month. We have notified staff the last few visits about the crablegs not being available and by the time they bring some out, they are water logged and or just not right.. everything else is about the best around!! We have been to buffets within 25 miles of Suffield,Ohio many times and for the last few months, they have gone downhill to where we go elsewhere now.We gave them plenty of input(kindly) many times.
Wonton soup was to salty the crab ragoons were soggy .the lemon noodles had a funny garlic sauce on them the general taso chicken was under spiced if you cant sushi well please dont do it they shouldnt doit the wings were dry and non seasoned overall the experience was poor I had take out dinner
I like Ever Green buffet restaurant because when you want to have a good lunch with your friends this is a place to go. They have variety of choices for a good lunch and I would recommend people to go here at lunch because for lunch and dinner they have the same types of food and price for lunch is much cheaper.
Do not go here if you want hot food. They do not keep the food fresh or hot and when I asked for fresh tater tots of all things they straight up said no, and everything was cold, old and stale. The health codes are not being met here. Dont waste your time if it isnt noon when they first put stuff out.

2022-01-09They put out food in the buffet for so long it’s cold and then they try to charge you for the leftovers. A complete rip of your money and time. Was very rude to us about not wanting to eat cold chicken, when last time we did there we got food poisoning. Very upset as we are lifetime customers but probably not anymore. We were told the buffet may not be right for us cause we’re wasting food. How can we be wasting what’s already cold?Anybody else have this issue of middle of dinner time there’s a whole thing filled with cold chicken teriyaki sticks? And getting food poisoning from it?The dessert is so fire it does get its own star though.

2022-02-21I have been coming to this Buffet since I was in college at Kent State (over 15 yrs), and have always had a great experience and the food has always been delicious! We mostly get take out now, but the price has remained reasonable and the food has remained the same great quality. I recently saw the signs about food wastage being charged and knew there would be negative reviews so I wanted to make sure I added a positive one, as we love this place and the service is great! My favorite is the crispy chicken and chicken and mushrooms!

2022-04-11Best sushi in 2018, but they have exactly 2 types, neither one contains fish or really any ingredient that matters in sushi. (One is primarily pickle and the other is fake crab)The eggplant is spectacular and is the only reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1.There are neon orange signs at EVERY table that say food wastage will be weighed and charged, which in itself isnt a terrible policy, but the gaudiness of seeing DOZENS of hazard orange signs all over the restaurant is unappetizing. There are several employees that just stand there and watch people at the buffet like bouncers. It is intimidating and unwanted to have people staring at me like a hawk while Im grabbing food. They charged us 2 dollars each for our waters and acted like it was an accident, but judging by the rest of the practices and the very fake surprise given to us by the employee, Im going to guess they charge everyone for water and only change it if you notice. Its like a dystopian buffet. It is damn near $15/person. For this price. Do yourself a favor and drive to Twinsburg and check out Fun Buffet, which has a full sushi bar, included hibachi bar, 4x more of a selection, and 0 passive aggressive signs for the exact same price.

2022-02-01The food was good and the prices are good too。But it was really interesting to see the comments. Why not eat at home when you can cook better .Some people get bad reviews for not tipping. Some people give themselves bad marks for wasting food. Arent you ashamed of what youve done?I feel very disappointed. Is there so much trash in America?Would you be unwelcome if you didnt make trouble? You dont have to tell anyone youre not coming back. Nobody cares. Stop acting like a child

2022-04-30By far my favorite Chinese buffet around. There are so many options to choose from and they are all equally delicious. They have the best egg drop soup, sushi, and sweet and sour chicken. The staff is very friendly and always talk to my daughter when we come in. They are very family friendly. I never have to ask for a booster seat they are already bringing one to our table. I wish they still offered crab legs but I understand things are hard to get right now and very expensive. I think paying for what you dont eat is very good idea. People waste so much food at buffets they should have to pay for leaving a whole plate of food they only took 2 bites off of. We will be back again soon!Visited again 4/29 as always fresh and delicious food, friendly waitress and the staff is always very kind. The banana pudding was a pleasant surprise.

2022-03-22Much of the food was not hot, barely warm, rib tips very over cooked, chicken sticks chewy. Sauces that coated the various chicken dishes way too sweet and greasy/oily at the same time. Very small selection compared to many other buffets, expensive for what is offered lacks quality. Friendly service though

2022-06-15To our surprise my husband and I give Evergreen Buffet 5 stars, we arrived when they opened, they had BBQ Ribs tips, crab ragoon, all different types of chicken, crispy egg rolls, soft serve ice cream, sushi, almond cookies, pepper steak, peel & eat shrimp and SO much more, this place looks small but there is a lot to choose from. The only disturbing part of our visit is that some of the employees are still wearing The Mask, I always wonder if the owner is the one thats forcing the employees to wear their Chains or if its willingly? There was a little girl there that had The Mask on too. I felt sad for all of them that had them on. We enjoy seeing smiles, we dont go out often so its important to see faces, Ive always been against The Mask, I never wore it willingly because I know that viruses will virus and that viruses enter into the body MANY different ways and that wearing tight fitting goggles and a N95 mask or respirator is only going to help keep viruses at bay as long as they arent touched so I hope next time we visit well be able to see the employees beautiful faces which makes people healthy naturally to give smiles too. We did have a server that wasnt wearing The Mask so that was nice. Thank you for the GREAT food and service. Well be back

2022-06-19Im a regular at this location and I come in about 7 times a month. Today I came in and the food was absolutely disgusting the crab rangoon had no filling and it was overcooked the rice tasted completely funny like they had used rotten egg and the chicken was pink and fatty. I brought this to managements attention and he told me it is how it is if I want something special I should order off the regular menu. This is not how you should treat regulars and this is not how you should treat your customers very disappointed

2022-07-12I come to Kent to see my family, we always go to evergreen...I went today there was 5 of us we are sitting there eating having a great time and I hear Nana what does that sign mean, I read it and about fell out of my chair...apparently if you leave waste on your plate they take it back weigh it and charge you for your waste, but if you want to take it your told no and when you question it you are met with a certain rude man telling you dont waste the food and you wont have anything to worry about!! I spend alot of money when we go here and we try not to waste but it happens at buffets...so now after years of going I will no longer step foot in there!!! Sad but I will not be charged for my waste 🤬🤬🤬

2022-06-18The food was pretty tasty and the selection was good. I tried quite a few dishes and I enjoyed all of them! The egg drop soup was especially delicious.
