Feel free to share this post. I am seeing RED! I contracted with ELYRIA FENCE in June to have my fencing replaced as the old one had heaved badly. I had to give them 1/3, or $700 at that time. They said it would be in early September. I wasn’t too thrilled with that, but accepted it. I called starting mid-August as I do have to pay attention to my schedule. Well, September came and went & I was told early October. Then, a couple weeks. Finally, last week, they would be here tomorrow am. I rearranged my schedule. Then, Saturday I get a call Monday 10am. I call off work Monday am & rearrange all else & tell them Monday at 10 is ok, would they be done by 1:30 as I have to leave for an appointment then. Yes, plenty of time. So, today, 10:30, no contractor. Call them. They check & say he forgot a part and had to turn around & he’ll be here in an hour. Not a crew, just one guy! So, I had taken all my flower troughs off the fence, moved the benches by the fence, cleared all to make it easier for him. Also, since my fence had heaved a good 8”, I had screwed a 1’ high picket fence to the bottom so that the dogs could not get out of the dog yard. I took all that down. So, around 11:20, I see the contractor drive by. He does this twice. Finally, he stops & says he needs to park in the driveway. I live in the older part of Medina, OH (a small City) & my driveway is not long. I have all the benches, flower pots, etc. from the fenceline in the driveway to store until the fence is finished. I have a friend’s car in the drive & my car. There is not enough room for a big truck & trailer. Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember my dad saying not to allow contractor vehicles to park on your driveway because they are not built for that weight. The guy asked me if I expected him to walk across the street. Please! It is about 40’ from the other side of the street to the fence. He pulls off. I call the company & they say unless they can park in my driveway, they won’t do the job. I told them there was no room in my driveway. They said either they park in my driveway or not doing the job. I am furious. They are sending me my money back. I won’t be bullied by contractors! What terrible customer service. Sorry so long. End of rant.
This company is horrific. I replace posts on my fence every year. They refuse to warranty this 8 year old fence because the previous owner installed it. They claim to do quality work but they dont.Also, if you complain or post a negative review on social media or anywhere else theyll post a response that can only be categorized as demeaning and condescending. The owner is petty and spiteful and it shows in the way he treats his customers. If he put as much attention into his work as he did his responses he may be able to build a decent fence. Cant wait to see the long winded reply to this one.
They came out when promised. Post installers were courteous and efficient. The three carpenters Colleen, Brian and Matt did an awesome job and Im extremely pleased with my white cedar fence!
The entire team at Elyria Fence was fantastic to work with. Greg was patient and professional during our decision-making process. Brian and Matt , the craftsmen/installers, had the fence completed in just a few days and helped us through a few design changes. The fence is a beautiful addition to our yard and we absolutely love it. We highly recommend Elyria Fence!
Like everyone had to wait on material but did an excellent job. Also helped me out by putting up temporary chain link fence to get my new pup trsined.Very reputable company highly recommended.
I had a wonderful experience with Elyria fence! I met them at Home and Garden show at the IX center in Berea last year.. I liked them right Away. I quoted about three other companies one who tried charging me 11k! Which was laughable. Elyria fence was the best priced and I just felt good vibes from them. They came out and did mt fence BEFORE the date it was scheduled for, two men did it together in about 6 hours! They had positive attitudes and were super friendly! And the fence was actually better than I even expected! I am very happy I chose them, I def reccomend them to others!! They made me extremely happy!
I had them come out an install 170 of split rail fence to my back property about 3 years ago. Excellent workmanship. the gentlemans helper never showed but he got the entire project done by himself in one day. Fence is straight as an arrow. So glad i not attempt this. i know i could not have done such a nice job. The even installed with top rail height of 30 so i can step over it. One rail failed in that time but they left me one so i put it in myself. Wife painted it white two years ago and we still super pleased with it. Now attached electric fence wire to top to chase deer away and it working perfect.

Run and run very fast. Find someone else or do it yourself. I had a deck installed around my pool 6-7 years ago and the process what a night mare and it is still a night mare. I have had to replace several rotted boards on the steps and decking that they installed. At the same time I had the pool deck added I put new decking board from Lowes on the existing deck. Wood that they told me would not last as long as their decking. Hate to say it but the stuff I put down looks way better then Elyria Fences wood. Also they use nails and staples that I have to go around and pound back in every year. Oh ya I used deck screws on the deck that I redone. Should of did it my self and saved big bucks! DO NOT USE ELYRIA FENCE INC FOR ANY OF YOUR PROJECTS!Response to your response you do not install decks because you SUCK AT IT BIG TIME. As I stated I put new decking on the existing deck at the same time when you built the deck. Again it looks as good as day one but your deck is need of on going repair. You used inferior fasteners and workmanship sucks. So why dont you stop building wooden fences and save the planet!
The work was excellent! The workers were fine. Bookkeeping was terrible. I had to call them at least three times to get my account straightened out and to deposit my check. They mustnt need the money!!!!!!
Elyria might not have an ordinance to put the ugly side of the fence facing the owners property but ethically people should just do the right thing. Not happy with what you did with my neighbors fence yesterday. Definitely will not be using nor recommending your services in the future.
If Im spending $4000 you could at least return our calls. Your salesman wrote up the wrong fence and you didnt even try to make it right. Not only that I have to clean up the mounds of dirt you left. Very much disappointed.
I would highly recommend Elyria Fence. The experience from Sales (Greg) to the carpenter (Tommy Tymak) was nothing but positive. Tommy paid attention to detail and did an outstanding job. The fence is beautiful! Couldnt be happier with the outcome.
Super nice friendly and really helped me in the showroom they answered all my questions. I am using them for a customer privacy fence.
We bought all our fencing materials from elyria fence. We built the fence ourselves over 20 years ago and it still looks great.
I thought theyd have a bigger selection of the composite fencing...people must love them because they are booked for the next 12 weeks!
We have had a problem with out gate since it was installed this will be the third time that they have been out to fix it, we are just waiting to get it done.
They do not have the greatest customer service .

2022-04-25I wish I could give Elyria a higher rating, because so far I am very satisfied with the quality of fence/gate they installed.However, I cant recommend them to anyone because their communication is laughable. I will say they warned me they were several months behind schedule, and I understand completely that COVID and supply chain issues have set many businesses back. Delays are fine. But I should not have had to repeatedly call their office each time an estimated install date came and went with no emails or phone calls.When it finally came time to begin the installation, every step of the process was a surprise, in that employees would show up unannounced to complete tasks like put down stakes or schedule the city to complete a post-install inspection (today). When we got a date for the final install, the carpenter didnt show up. I called the office and was told there had been a miscommunication. He didnt show up the next day either due to an emergency at his full-time job and didnt call because he assumed I wouldnt be home. Why he thought I wouldnt notice the lack of a fence when I did get home is a mystery to me.When I called the office again, the manager (I think) told me she could provide another carpenter that day, but the one assigned to me was their best and any other carpenter they provided wouldnt do as good of a job. I found it extremely concerning that Elyria would openly disparage their own employees like that to a customer, especially when their best carpenter is only a part-time employee.I have a feeling that Elyria thinks they can skate by on the quality of their materials and installation and not provide good, or even mediocre, customer service. Again, it was very disappointing because the fence itself is great, but I cant recommend this company to anyone.

2021-01-20I highly recommend Elyria Fence. We just moved to northern Ohio and wanted a fence in our back yard. Mike came out to review the situation and gave us solid advice. Kegan and Chase installed the first poles perfectly, lined up with great precision. Then, Dan and Lance did a wonderful job installing the pieces of our Good Neighbor fence. Lastly, Heather provided excellent help on the phone, keeping me up to date on logistics. Im very impressed with the company overall.

2021-05-18In the past 18 months I have undertaken a massive renovation and addition to my home. In so doing I have interacted with MANY contractors and service providers -- ELYRIA FENCE HAS BEEN BY FAR THE WORST CONTRACTOR I HAVE EVER INTERACTED WITH.We ordered an aluminum driveway gate in April of 2020 and promptly paid our 1/3 deposit. We were told that the gate would be delivered and installed in September of that year -- frustrating but we moved forward. After October passed (and no communication from the company), I reached out for an update -- no response. I reached out again in December 2020 asking for my deposit back and telling them to cancel the order. They promptly responded and said that the gate would be built on Jan. 20, 2021. We reluctantly agreed to stay the course. After hearing nothing, on January 26, 2021 we followed up again and they said We are waiting for it to get here. I continually asked for updates (they never once proactively reached out to me) - and, finally, the gate was installed in mid March 2021 (about 6 months later than our original scheduled date).The defective installation of the gate was instantly apparent. The bolts used were far too short, causing the gate to drop significantly when opened. A couple months in, the gate post is severely cracked and the gate only opens and closes with significant effort. We have asked that Elyria Fence remedy the issue but they have failed to do so at this point (despite many follow up requests by us to do so).Id highly suggest that you steer clear of this fence company - they merely ordered a gate from another manufacturer and did a very poor job installing same. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. Save yourself the time and energy by utilizing another provider.

2020-05-18Overall. Good job on install. However, I later requested assistance in the form of advice on removing a section of fence vinyl fence (cost >$20k, 6 months ago) to install a patio. Front office was not helpful, failed to follow up with promised return call and unwilling to disturb installers and salesmen. I circumvented front office and emailed my salesman direct He responded. If I did not have his email address, I would have had a problem. Front office was no help! Once fence is installed, you are on your own!!!

2020-01-08I had problems with communication when I had the fence first installed 5 or so years ago. Both gates needed to be adjusted over the next few years and that was an ordeal too. They never call you back and rarely show up when promised. Fast forward to September of 2019 and I need fence repair from a fallen tree limb. I cringed to even consider calling Elyria fence but I decided to give them another try. They took my deposit and said they would get to my job by November. Late November rolls around and the fence is still damaged and no phone calls. I call the salesman Mike who says hell put me on by the end of December. Im selling our house mind you and I need this repaired before the sale.January rolls around and theres no communication at all. I called today and the response I got was Were just waiting to set the gate, the rest of it was repaired. Thats a total LIE. The fence is still as damaged as it was when I originally called.Stay away from Elyria fence if you value customer service and communication. Their salesman will lie to you continuously and shamelessly.

2021-03-11Worked for this company till one of their testy employees spit in my work area and started a fight, was then “layed off” even though I couldn’t collect unemployment because of my job history in other states and led me to believe I would be brought back but then told otherwise because “I’m too unpredictable”.I wouldn’t do business with this company, personally.Also they’re 8 months behind on their company installs.And they let crews sub that don’t know what they’re doing.

2021-03-23Very slow to respond. Lack of follow-up on their end. I would like a repair done on my fence. I have had to call, email and follow back up with them multiple times to obtain the quote and see when I can get scheduled. Still waiting to hear back.

2015-07-14I cannot attest to the quality of their work because we did not choose their company for our fence because they were so expensive. We received 4 estimate and Elyria fence was more than double the other estimates. The salesman who came to our house gave us no information on the type of materials, the process of installation, or anything regarding the quality or craftsmanship of the fence. Nor did he take any measurements of our yard. He simply wrote a price on a business card and left. Over a week later we received a written quote and in comparison to the others we have, I see nothing to justify such a drastic difference in cost. Additionally, we were told that the fence would not be able to be installed for more than 12 weeks, 3 times as long as the others.It was as if they did not want our business. And they didnt get it. I would highly recommend getting other estimates prior to booking their services. I can understand a slight difference in price and length of time for installation to reflect quality and craftsmanship but a $8K and 9 week difference is excessive.

2018-10-16Exceptionally good quality cedar fence, attractive design and expert installation. Elyria Fence was great to work with from start to finish. More expensive that other quotes and a longer wait, but well worth it for the quality of the finished product. Greg was very professional and easy to work with. He came out promptly for an estimate in late June. Due to high demand over the summer season, the fence was completed in early October. Efram removed the old cedar and chain link fencing very quickly installed new pressure treated posts accurately. Later, the team of Brian, Colleen and Matt crafted the fence sections and a gate and installed them with great precision and an eye for detail, using screws to attach sections to posts instead of nails. All were a pleasure to work with - informative, polite and clean. All adjoining neighbors are very pleased with the result. I highly recommend Elyria Fence. Honesty, integrity and high quality work were worth a slightly higher price.

2016-10-08Spent almost $5000 with this company for a simple wood fence which we waited months for them to install. Need a simple repair (less than a one hour job) and Im told it would be 15 weeks out minimum. Not doable with 2 dogs. For the amount you charge, HIRE more staff. Do not use.
