Played Elk Run with a group of twenty golfers. The course has a good layout with an interesting mix of holes. The clubhouse with pro shop and restaurant is in good condition. The same cannot be said for the course. The tees are in terrible condition, especially the par 3s. The bunkers are hard with little sand and no maintenance. Some bunkers are half grass. The greens were hard with lots of unrepaired ball marks. Whoever owns this course needs to invest the money to maintain it or he should close it.
Well maintained course. Some elevated tee shots. Carts have built-in range finders for approach shot distances. Park by the cart barn, pick up your cart and head to the clubhouse to pay. There is also a driving range for some warm up shots. Nice restaurant inside the clubhouse as well.
Outstanding course that surely is one of the best in Cincinnati. The course and it’s tees are well suited for players at any levels. Pace of play was on the mark. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was the greeting received in the pro shop when I got there. No “have u played here before, no “ have a great time out there”, no”have a great game and hope u will come back”. The greeter, I understand was the golf pro, possibly might want to bring up his customer service game up a notch. However there was the young man from McNicholas who cleaned our clubs, the new ranger from Toledo and the young lady in the restaurant area…,all whom were upbeat, friendly and accommodating. If I am back in Cincinnati this course will be on my list to play
Played yesterday. I’ve played here a lot through the years, and that was the best shape it’s been in. Cutting down all the heather makes it much more playable and enjoyable. Definitely keep it that way. Electric Carts are fast. Beautiful layout with a lot of elevated tees. Very good value. Indoor staff needs to mask up though.
Awesome golf course, one of the best public access courses in greater Cincinnati. The new ownership has really turned the place around. Pace of play was great, rates are extremely reasonable for how good the course was in. We played the course after 6 of rain over the past week and it was still in great shape. Definitely worth the trip!
Nobody tells you the road to the course is closed. We showed up at the detour like everyone else and took the 30 minute detour. Course is okay but greens are a disaster having just been aerated for the second time and full of sand. Forget about putting! No tee markers on the tee boxes and nothing done on the greens. Actually, no one in site on the course except golfers. This used to be a great course. In November, with the course support, they ought to pay you!
Just played & course is in great shape. The greens were being aerated as well as the tees. Sandwiches at the turn were excellent. Most people know this is a well designed course. Investments are being made to live up to expectations and is worth the drive to Batavia.Pricey for a country course.
Showed up for my tee time, on time. Waited in pro shop to pay for 10 minutes making me miss my tee time. Now being told that I can’t get off the tee for 40 minutes because I’m the only person who showed up for this this tee time.... I’m golfing alone. So apparently it’s my fault that 3 other randoms people didn’t show up. Ranger nor inside workers inside care at all.
I typically like this course but nobody informed us the fairways, at least the front nine, had been aerated I think just that morning. It was awful to play in mud the entire round. Clumps of mud everywhere on the greens that had come off everyone’s spikes. As we drove to the parking lot, it did not look like the back had been aerated and would have been nice if pro shop staff would have told us that. Most unenjoyable round of golf I have ever played.
This course is magnificent! Went late March and this place was in great shape. Drove 3.5 hours to come here and I was not disappointed other than the fog delay. The superintendent let me go off the back nine so I could start my round and I appreciate the service. In my opinion this place is top 5 public course in all of ohio.
I usually get to this track at least a few times a year. Last weekend it was a little chewed up. In general, though this is a great course with holes that are mostly distinct from each other. There are only a few that feel like repeats. Definitely a challenging course, but might be a bit expensive, especially with the conditions as they are right now.
We just played yesterday....the course is in very bad shape...the fairways have lots and lots of bare areas...The tee boxes are a mess...the sand traps have very little sand....The greens are the only exception,...they are in decent shape. They should lower the price until they get the course in better shape...certainly NOT worth what they charge!!
Had a tee time set two days in advance. Got there and was told “ sorry you cant play, our tournament went over”. Not a call or a solution. Terrible customer service. It’s a shame that Elks Run would treat a customer like this. I have been playing Golf for 35 years and have never seen anything like this. Unacceptable!
The condition of the course is average at best when comparing to other comparably priced courses in the area. Traps are more dirt than sand and tee boxes are beat up. To make matters worse we stepped on to the tee box 5 minutes prior to our tee time (first tee time of the day) only to have 5 members literally drive over a curb in their carts to the senior tees in front of my twosome. Our only recourse was to drive back to the clubhouse to see what was going on since there was no Marshall on the tee. We were told that group had a standing tee time and they offered no apology. The course was more than happy to take our money and double book their tee times. We waited behind these five members for nine holes while the Marshall who eventually showed up 15 minutes later followed us around and tried to stall us. We took a break at the turn to avoid waiting around the tee boxes for the remainder of the round. Do yourself a favor and play Legendary run, The Vineyard, or Hickory woods for a better course at a comparable price and a staff that values all of their patrons.
Worst customer service I’ve seen at a golf course anywhere around the US. Would never return to this place. Employees were telling another golfer he couldn’t teach golf to his son on their course because “it was busy”. We were there near this family but they weren’t holding anyone up from what I saw. The clubhouse pro actually said “this course isn’t made to teach golf on”. I’ll never return.
Very nice course, in natural surroundings, layout uses the natural topograghy very well and creatively. Only complaint is a small one: played there for the first time last summer and was impressed with the natural areas which included mikweed, contributing to the proliferation of monarch butterflies. This year the milkweed has been completely mown. Disappointing for the environmentally conscious.
The course is interesting and challenging from the back tees. Course is generally in good shape with ok greens. That is the only reason it gets as high as a two star though. I gave up playing here 2 years ago as every round takes over 5 hours even on a weekday morning. The same happened today and I quit on the 15th tee after 4 hours of play. People waiting everywhere and no marshalls on the course. Players are mostly in Jeans and dont know golf etiquette. Shame. Frustrating.
The place has gone down hill from its former glory. Many of the fairways were down right mud, and not because of the rain. Wallpaper in the bathrooms peeling off, out of order stalls and reeking like urine. I was unimpressed and with the steep green fees I expected more.
Not a bad course, all sand traps were hard not groomed, most of greens were smooth but very sandy, only big complaint I have being pushed when there was no one behind us and not child friendly, if they dont want children on the course to learn then they shouldnt take payment for children at start, would not hire the man who was taking payment very nasty.bad attitude.
2013 played 3 times . very unfriendly .heather to much. had a season pass player yell to play faster. but we had to wait every hole for group in front of us. ranger came out and followed us for 6 holes until we told him to get the xxxx out of here and let us play. this year the heather cut back in a few spots. but the starter said one of our players 80 years old who can still shot in the 90 from the up tees but has a hard time walking could get closer to the greens and tees. 4 holes later they told him to quit. later the owner said his starter would not say that. but as we were finishing he came out and said his starter did say and said sorry.. never going back.
Played sunday 8/12/18.My girfriend went late tee time 430 thought maybe be not so busy.By the time we got to the 4th tee we had to let 2 pairs play thru and a foursome and were pushed until about 7pm..carts had to stay on path because everything was swampy.not very fun that by time you tee off drive to where your first shot landed walk over to ball from cart path you look back and theres people waiting to tee off that happened first 8 holes.i played here 2 yrs ago and wasnt that way.someone probably should have taken into acct golfing would go slower since you could not drive to ball..my girlfriends first time and probably last.shes fairly new to golfing and being rushed is not fun or relaxing. And not sure who they let golf here but all you lazy non divit fixxing people should stick to puttputt..tee boxes looked like normandy beach on d-day all of you should be ashamed to tear up a nice course

2021-07-16Absolutely gorgeous place to play. The course is so much fun on all 18. And the golf carts are Cadillacs of carts, the beer girls and bar tenders are amazing and friendly! I recommend

2021-10-26Pretty course located in Batavia, OH. Golf cart we had ran extremely slow and poorly like it wasn’t charged enough. It was almost laughable. I could walk faster than the cart at some points. It did have GPS which was nice.Person who helped tee off was pushy about timing and told us to pick up pace couple times.Drinks on the course were nice. Went inside to get lunch after 9th hole and the kitchens grill closed at 2:30PM on a Sunday..? So I settled for a PB&J.Overall pretty course. Suggestion would be to keep kitchen grill open later for golfers on weekends and it would have gotten higher rating.

2022-06-15This course was in real good shape and had nice electric carts with yardage computers. The big turn off for me was the price. Even with my green book discount it was 39.00 dollars for 18 holes and a cart.

2019-11-12Beautiful course with scenic views thanks to elevation changes, abundant water, and lots of trees. The clubhouse is also pleasant - friendly staff, great beer selection, nice TVs, good bathrooms, plenty of space. Unfortunately, our experience could have been better - we weren’t informed of the 15 minute detour due to construction, and the greens were being aerated during play on the last nice Sunday of the year. I get that it’s tough to predict weather and things need to be done for the sake of the course but still. The course needs some work on the tee-boxes, fairways, and greens - but it’s the end of the year so I’ll give benefit of the doubt. Overall, it is a fun course that I would play again.

2019-08-11Tee boxes in a lot of need of TLC. Greens have bad spots but overall are rolling ok. Fairways also in some rough shape. For the price I don’t think it is worth playing here. We played for $50 but thought the course probably plays like $25-30. Interesting layout, challenging, just wish the conditions were better

2021-10-23Course is in great shape! The staff was very friendly, and welcoming. Seems like theyve gotten new owners, or have invested a lot of money to get the course to where its at now. Its so much more open now, as theyve removed a TON of trees and brush all over the course. Its definitely one of my top five local courses now. If you havent been out to Elks in a year or two definitely check it! You wont be disappointed!
