Living more than 20 years in Texas and spending 4-5 weeks a year in Mexico this is some pretty darn rock solid T-X Mex and regional Mexican food. The Tuesday thru Friday lunch buffet at $9.99 is a steal, with Mixed FajitasCarnitas, shredded Chicken taco and beef taco meat , beef and chicken enchiladas fantastic Charro bean soup and much more,A friendly family business always smiling.
You are missing out if you havent tried this place! Family owned and opperated, this place delivers some of thee best Mexican food around! Just so everyone knows, the owners are in early every morning to hand make EVERYTHING! The salsa, the chips, the guac, EVERYTHING!!! Theres so much credit and effort here, this family is very hard working. Keep up the wonderfully made food and the family atmosphere. Best shrimp and margaritas around!!
Went to try this local Mexican restaurant the other night and was very disappointed. These folks own many like restaurants in the region as well. We walked in and were greeted by heavy cologne and perfume so much that I was gagging along with other family members. The male server smelled like he visited Paris! I was gagging! Chips were hard as a rock and food was luke warm at best. About the food; small portions and seemed to be pre-made and very poorly blended. Sticky rice and old overcooked beans. THEN as we were eating someone came by to clean other tables and the cleaning solution was so bad we all were chocking again! Their kids were left to run around as well. 🤷🏻♂️ Come on! I wont be going back.
Just when you think every Mexican restaurant is the same life throws you a curve ball. We ended up picking El Rodeo as a place for a friends 40th birthday party because my friend Jeri who does chalk culture can hold events there. Not only were the staff friendly and accommodating the food was probably some of the best Mexican food I have had in years. Even the caso was thick & creamy the way I remember it should be. The drinks were amazing and kind of snuck up on you the way they should. This will be my 1st choice when Im craving Mexican. The rice was amazing and fresh and the beans tasted delicious. Give El Rodeo a try!
We were passing through Mentor and used Google to find a Mexican restaurant near by. El Rodeo had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. Im really glad we did! The food was really, really good and the salsa was probably some of the best I have tasted. We enjoyed our meal immensely!
This was a terrible experience. We ordered off the menu at lunch time and both the service and food was non exiting. Guess we should have used the lunch buffet, but it did not look that inviting. This was a Xmas lunch with out of state foamily and it was embarrassing. Their website does not reflect their quality of food or their service.
Roadtripping today and decided to stop for dinner. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and gave amazing service. Our food was delivered to our table quickly and it too was beyond expectation. Delicious! Especially the guacamole. We will definitely stop here again when we are in the area!
Delicious mexican food at a reasonable price. The menu has alot to choose from and the portion sizes are generous - you will definitely leave with a full stomach!! The dining room is open with colorful booths and decorations plus an outdoor patio, weather permitting. The owners/operators are on site daily.
The best Mexican restaurant in the area. Family run with terrific food always delivered fast and with a smile. Once buffets are safe again they have a wonderful lunch buffet on weekends that covers all the bases.Their chips and salsa are wonderful and with a good amount of spice. Have tried dozens of items on the menu over the years and never been disappointed. Portions are large. Avoid the chains and go to El Rodeo for an experience that checks all the boxes.
I am currently eating here and I can say the atmosphere and staff are incredible. Theyre incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. The food is outstanding. I ordered chicken enchiladas and my boyfriend got quesadillas and tacos. Everything on our plate was great from the rice and beans to the chicken itself. I couldnt finish it because the value was insane. It was on the cheaper side, but you get a lot for what you pay for, and the quality is amazing. Currently waiting for our desserts, but I had to leave this review before receiving them. This will quickly become a staple for us.Please, if you havent gone, go! You will not regret it.
The restaurant is run down and dirty. The employees 2-3 year old children are running about maybe they are working who knowsThe worst was the food. Everything was greasy: it’s weird I ordered Pollo Chicken supposed to be grilled it was fried and it was greasy along with the beans. Don’t order the top shelf margarita either it’s juice and the medium is only the size of a wine glass
The place was good, they had the best salsa I had in a long time it actually had some texture to it it wasnt just soup the staff was very courteous and the food came up quickly. The only thing I found strange was there was no hot sauces on the table? I guess you could have asked for some if you wanted it but there was enough flavor in the food we didnt really need it
Amazing place. Always polite, food is always on point and come out quickly. Good salsa. Good guacamole. Even if you order online, you still get to pick from the entire menu! Best Mexican restaurant for miles and miles around! Delicious as always and, prompt delivery. Meals came warm! Yay! Pull through El Rodeo. We support you making good food every day! Stay safe.
Amazing food! Amazing service!First time here and everything was great! We were created right away, sat quickly, chips brought over and our order take promptly as well! Our food was sizzling when it hit our table, and hot until we finished.10/10 we will be making the drive to go here instead of other options closer!
My husband and I have to come every time we visit Ohio from Florida. As a born and raised Miami native, I hold my Mexican cuisine to a high standard. This is some of the best food I have had and is always a comforting staple when getting off the plane to come visit family. I have yet to have a bad meal here! The service is stupendous it is a clean and environment that is family friendly and welcoming to all. The fact that the staff remembers us in between our yearly visits makes it even better.
The food was excellent, the service could have been better. Because of my size and my parents conditions, we asked for a table. We were given a 6-top and given a bit to decide. Everything was good until a group was sat next to us. They were loud, but they were celebrating. Mom ordered a few things al a carte, while Dad and I both got the pineapple. It was just like getting the molcajete, but its all grilled in a half pineapple thats been hollowed out. Other then you only get 3 tortillas, its a great dish that I would get again in a heartbeat.
To be honest, Im not sure how to rate Mexican restaurants because Ive never had authentic Mexican food. The only Mexican food Ive ever had was taco bell, and well thats not the greatest food. I gave taco bell two stars, so Im giving this place three stars. The quality and serving size was slightly better than taco bell. The service was good. They gave us complimentary chips and salsa while we waited for our drinks and lunch. The atmosphere was colorful. Overall it wasnt a bad experience.
I have to say Im not impressed. This place is very bland and tasteless. The employees have bad attitudes and are lazy; upon walking in, the hostess was resting her chin in her hands - she just gave off the vibe that she didnt want to be there. We were seated in one of the hard-as-hell booths; my back was on fire when we left. The service was okay and the place was clean; but it was so empty and now I see why. The food - the main reason you go to any restaurant - was awful. The portions are big, which you would think is a good thing, but when you plate looks so unappetizing, is COLD upon receiving, and just tastes awful, it makes you want to vomit. It tasted frozen and still looked frozen when we got it. No manager came out to greet us like in other restaurants, and we were rarely attended to by our young, uninterested server. If Gordon Ramsay visits here, I can just picture him throwing a fit in the kitchen. Its a shame because I really like Mexican food, and this place was nothing but disappointing. Wont be back.
The service was good. Our waitress was nice but seemed distracted. I ordered 2 steak tacos and 1 carnitas with beans. The pork was ok but i didnt touch the 2 steak tacos. It was cheap curly meat with hard fatty streaks throughout and tasted pan seared and possibly reheated. The refried beans were an off red color with an off taste. I ordered a sopapilla to go when placing our order. It was nothing like it should have been and it smelled like really dirty oil and was flat and hard like made from an old tortilla. I dared to taste it holding my breath and that was a huge mistake. The chips and salsa were the only highlight of the visit. They may serve authentic Mexican food but its tasted like lower end ingredients.
I’ve eaten here at the Tyler Road (Mentor) location numerous times over the years & have always been impressed. Last night (Sunday) was quite different.I ordered the chimichanga & it was excellent. My friend, however, ordered the shrimp taco & was very unimpressed. Mostly onions & lettuce, 3 small pieces of tomato, sour cream, guac & 4 shrimp for $9.25!But the real coup de grace came after our bill was delivered to the table. We - and the other table on the patio - were completely ignored for the 45 minutes that we sat chatting. Nobody cleared our dishes. Nobody filled our (now empty) water glasses. Nothing. It wasn’t until everyone got up to leave that someone finally came onto the patio to clean up the dirty plates & collect the bills.
Great food, very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere! Prices are very reasonable, and the menu is varied. I love the mole, the carnitas, and the chiles relleno. Havent tried the taco bar yet, but it looks really good. This is my choice for a regular Mexican restaurant in the Mentor area!
El Rodeo is a great Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious. You will always find Latinos there. This is one of the only Mexican restaurants my husband and I have seen other Latinos flocking to. Owners Lupe and Horacio make you feel like family. If you want good food and good service, this is the place to go.
This was my first time going to this place and I was pleasantly surprised! The food was good, restaurant was clean and the ambience was pleasant. 8.99 for a buffet is a very good price as well, so you can try a variety of things if you dont like something. Definitely recommend!
My family Loves El Rodeo. We frequent this location twice a month and are Never disappointed! Not only is the service and atmosphere very friendly, but the food is always fantastic and served SUPER FAST! We can be in and out of there within 30 min!!!Antonio was always our waiter and always remembered our orders. We now have another young gentlemen who is very friendly and seems to be memorizing our orders as well.Great place, highly recommended!!!
I have had plenty of Mexican food and have been at this location before but I gotta say not good at all. The margaretias are great the people are nice but the food is boring. Yes boring no flavor. Food came out fast only because they have it under heaters and whatever in the back. I got the chimichangas that are a favorite according to their menu. Maybe I should have gotten something else.
The menu is a lieI ordered the lobster chimichangas when i bit into them i noticed that they use imitation crab meat instead of lobster meat.Absolutely gross.I have gotten the same dish at other Mexican restaurants and have never had a problemWhen i asked the manager she said the quality of food matched the price in so many words.$45 for two mealsThis place uses alot of vegetables so they give you barely any meat.I tried this restaurant one time before with my mother about a year ago is was disappointing thenI can not believe a place like this is in Mnetor ohio
Terrible service!! Overcharged on drinks, had 10 different servers coming and going. Seemed confused with basic questions. Wouldnt leave bill at table or let me view the bill as if there was something to hide. Way over charged with terrible food, small portions and horrible service. I wouldnt recommend to my worst enemy.
EMPTY AT 6PM .... AND I KNOW WHY!!!Enchilada was hard and crusty. Margarita used table salt - not even kosher salt. Server was a jerk. And charged 6.99 for a .75 shot (if that) - not even a full ounce! When anything was said no one cared or did ANYTHING! Awful and will NEVER BE BACK!!! Could give 0 stars if possible.... the 15 year old hostest was the only positive/silver lining.... pay the extra $2 per person at Don Tequila....
While the prices were decent, the food wasnt very good and the buffet 20 feet long and only has 8 items to choose from including taco shell, burrito shell, some meat, some beans and cheese. Which sounds great but they are so small that every few minutes they run out and you wait for more to come out. At which point everyone rushes up and if your late you have to wait again.
Salsa had too much something..maybe cilantro. They had no idea about the drink I wanted. We split fajitas. All meat stuck together and chewy or rubbery. Had much better rice and beans other places. And there was an area just outside the kitchen that looked at best like a construction zone. El Palenque on Vine is better. The Mexican place in Chesterland is best but it all boiled down to how far we wanted to drive.
Went here as a last minute dinner since the other restaurants were full for a Saturday night. Ordered my meal and there was enough food to feed an army, service is great, floor and tables were clean, me and my family plans on returning and recommend friends for future events.
I ordered 2 combination dinners on Nov. 15, 2014. According to the website my total was $13.20. When I got there the total was over $21. Then I gave the woman a $5 off coupon that she did not want to accept because she said it was for dine in only. After I proved that it didnt say that on the coupon she then said she hadnt authorized the coupon book to print that. I will NEVER go back there.
Visiting Mentor from Michigan...Enchiladas were disgusting. One bite was all it took. Told wait staff we couldnt eat it and replaced with tacos. The shells were cold, like they just came from the refrigerator and the beef ( if that is what it really was) was flavorless. Definitely not the Mexican food we are used to. If you come to Michigan, visit El Charros for the real thing.

2022-06-23The food was excellent. Best New Mex type food in the area. We hadn’t been here for a while and thought we would try it again. Each item we ordered was perfect. The Margarita was spot on. We will be returning soon.

2022-05-19So my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was vibrantly decorated and clean. Although the service was not great and they were out of some basic items, what we ordered was absolutely delicious so that made up for the unfriendly and not talkative service. We will return for the food for sure since it was that good and their prices are reasonable.

2022-09-17Where do I even begin? The salsa was bland and empty. The meal itself was cold partially in the center. The appetizer was delicious and honestly the only reason theyre getting a star in the first place. I dont understand how Mexican can be so empty. It was devoid of all flavor. All spice it was like I was eating something that there was just s*** out of a Taco Bell. In fact Taco Bell would have probably been better cuz I could add some hot sauce to that
