Outstanding car buying experience. We dealt mostly with Jordan and Phil. they were both very patient, as it took my wife and I quite a while to decide on exactly what vehicle we wanted, (the better part of two weeks). Jordan was very knowledgeable about the different cars that we test drove and his insights helped us make our final decision. Once we decided on a car Jordan was able to locate the exact car we wanted and get it delivered to the dealership within a couple of days. Over all I would recommend Don Wood Hyundai to anyone looking to purchase a new car. Our experience was just what you would want out of a dealership, low key no pressure and willing to let us make our decision on own own terms. So, if youre looking for a great car buying experience go see Jordan.
I made a appointment to have my water pump and plugs and wires changed! They call tell me that my timing is eating into my plastic i told them to go ahead and fix it 1536$ to pick up my car now its 1 year 3 months later my car is making a ticking noise coming from around my alternator so I ordered a new one called Don wood they couldnt get it in for a week and wanted 180$ ! So I took it to good year in Jackson they said my alternator is full of oil and the noise is my timing they say its never been tore apart and chris at Don Wood wont even call me back
Always a great group of people to do business with. Very understanding staff. Dealership is honest and open with you. They have never steered me wrong and have kept my car on the road. Safely- I might add. Thank you Don Wood Hyundai Service Dept. for everything you do. I know it sometimes feels like a thankless job, but know that I Thank you and appreciate you and your skill-sets. You are a gift for sure.
Excellent dealership! When I visit any dealership I always expect them to put profit over customer service, but Don Wood Hyaundi truly surprised me. I started having trouble with my car battery a day after I left the lot, so I called them expecting a hassle since I had opted out of the warranty. They said no problem and replaced it right away. Trey was my salesman and he was very kind to me throughout the entire experience. Thank you to the entire staff at Don Wood Hyaundi!
They completely lied to me and told me they could beat the offer Carvana gave me to purchase my car. This was part of their trade in event up to $5000 on top of KBB. I was up front with them from the beginning that I was not trading but only interesting in selling. I even questioned what they were saying because it did not seem logical and they confirmed it again, claiming they were 100% confident they could beat the other offer. Only after I drove an hour did they tell me oh this deal only applies to trade ins on new vehicles. That was the first thing they said to me as soon as I told them why I was at the dealer. I have the screenshots that show in my comments I asked about only selling more than once. After my experience I went on the event Facebook post and shared my experience and warned other potential buyers. They went through and deleted all my comments on their event page as well blocked me from commenting. The work they are putting in to be unethical is alarming. They ended up offered me a little over $17,000 which is on the low end of KBB trade in value for my vehicle in Good condition after claiming they could beat my Carvana offer. The offer they gave me was not even close to Carvana’s offer of $19780 and they knew the amount of that offer before I came to the dealer and again after I arrived. If you do not want to buy my car that’s fine but why waste my time, mileage and gas with lies. It’s a shady and unethical business practice and I would be hesitant to conduct any business with a company that operates under such pretenses. They must think because I am woman that I am too stupid to understand what is happening. Steer clear of this place. It’s a joke.
I purchased a used vehicle from Don Wood Hyundai just 2 days ago. When I purchased the vehicle I was informed of the exhaust leak the car was experiencing. I was fine with that, but no more than 2 hours later the car began to putter. I checked the oil and it was bone dry and when I went to do a compression test on it we discovered the area with the spark plugs was filled with water. I am very displeased and will NEVER be shopping with them again.
Recently had 2103 Sonata motor replaced at this dealership, due to manufacturers recall. Also had new brakes and rotors installed. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service! Everyone I spoke with was very professional and friendly. Gary, in the service department, kept me updated on the progress and completed two additional recall repairs that were open on my car. Don Wood Hyundai is where I will be buying my next vehicle and that is based on my very positive experience with the dealership. Thanks!
After I co-signed for a new car they sold my daughter a car, I tried to contact them about trading our car. After a week long phone-tag with left messages for the salesman Trey and email tag with Michael Kidd, not one person from the dealership responded for any further information. Even though we live in Dayton, we were ready to drive to make the 2.5 hour drive to Athens We wanted to give our business there since they helped our daughter. Thanks to the staff at Don Wood Hyundai, we stayed local and traded our car at Joseph Airport Hyundai. The staff at Joseph Airport Hyundai had us in our new Hyundai Kona within 2 hours!!
Had a great experience here, the sales team made it a fun process. Salesman took his time going over features of our vehicle and making sure we knew how everything worked. We didnt feel rushed or shoved through like with some larger dealerships. They really took the time to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted.
Henry Klein provided us with a great sales experience. He was never pushy, listened well to what our needs and parameters were.He consulted his manager if he was unsure about any questions we asked. He balanced friendliness and professionalism beautifully. We highly recommend him and will seek him out in the future.
My son worked with Roger Cochran to purchase his first car. Roger did a great job helping him find a reliable and safe car and walked him through the process. Weve also worked with Chris Sims. They both are great salesmen and care about their customers. We are repeat Don Wood customers and would recommend Roger Cochran and Chris Sims to all of our family and friends.
I strongly advise against doing any business with these people! I bought a car and paid cash for the vehicle and when I did the service manager gave me his word that since the check engine light was on if it was going to be an expensive fix we would split the cost but if it was not they would pay for it, as soon as we left they began ignoring me and giving me the run around so when I took the vehicle to their shop they said they replaced a sensor and fixed the problem and that was false. I took the car to another dealership to be looked out and it turned out that they never replaced anything all they did was reset my check engine light and send me on my way. So when the other dealership ran a diagnostic on it there was a total of NINE CODES on the vehicle which included the mass air flow sensor, the temperature reductant sensor And module, the diesel particulate filter, and the pump that goes along with the DEF Fluid, which in total cost me $5,400 to replace all of it and when we kindly brought a copy of the receipt in they gave a big slap in the face and said they would give us $500 and in the end gave not a dime towards any of it! The service managers name was Phil and he gave HIS WORD that he would split the cost and in the end took advantage of a woman with two children who was in desperate need of a good and safe vehicle for me and my children so I could get back and forth to work and appointments for my children. I was very nice to this man and gave him the benefit of the doubt he even wrote up a paper and I signed it stating he would fix the check engine light but then failed to put the copy of it in with the rest of the paperwork. I’m just saying this to give everyone a heads up of how deceitful this place mainly PHIL was when I was nothing but kind but he looked at me as if I was just a young girl who knew nothing. It really hurt my feelings to know that they would take advantage of someone who was truly in desperate need of a decent vehicle for their children! I understand 100% buying a car as is but when you make a deal and give someone your word you stick to it you don’t take advantage of them!!!!
Talked with dealer for two days and scheduled appointment to drive and buy the car. Drive over and hour and show at the appointment time and am told that the vehicle was sold a few hours before I got there. I was told it would be waiting for me to test drive. It was a special edition and was insulted by the sales guy, when he said well you do know it had a matte paint job and you cant just go through a car wash with it. Then he tried to sell me a more exspensive 2020 model that had a regular paint job. He said that the reason the mistake was made was because he had so many appointments he just couldnt keep them straight. I would have put money down to reserve but he never asked and I took him at his word that it would be there when I got there. Apparently the employees are not trusty worth. I would give them less than one star but it wont let me.Update: A week later and still no one has contacted me. The response below appears to be just for show.
Terrible customer service, walked in, wasnt greeted at all, while 5 or 6 sales associates stood around stared at me and then went to continue to talk amongst themselves. I would not recommend this business to anyone. Even the associate that finally helped me, wasnt very friendly at all.
We are parents who needed to get a reasonable but reliable car for our son and his wife who are a family with two children. Tanner, really went the extra mile. He worked with us to help put this young family in reasonable car and then worked with us on pricing. I believe this car dealership and especially Tanner care about their customers. We are so pleased that we had the opportunity to work with Tanner and purchase from Don Wood Automotive. Our Thanks.. Ken
Super friendly staff. Low pressure buying experience.Updated: I paid over $11k for an Equinox only to have to replace the entire engine with owning the vehicle 3 weeks. When I contacted the dealership I was informed the vehicle was sold as is and good thing I paid for the extended warranty. They extended warranty didnt cover the whole $7500 repair bill. I was left with nearly $800 which I personally feel Don Wood should helped with considering I didnt even put 1000 miles on the vehicle when it broke down.
The salesmen there were very personable and very nice. They seemed to be very up front about a few things wrong with the truck. There was a couple things they were not honest about. There was a check engine light on we asked them to check and they said it was an exhaust leak. We ended up running it later and it was miss fires from two cylinders. It came with brand new fender flares as the two rear fenders were pretty rusted. They told us the owner had bought them but never put them on. We noticed when we got back there was a reciept charging the dealership for them. Neither of these things were deal breakers as changing the spark plugs of the two cylinders that were miss firing fixed the check engine and it didnt matter who the fender flares were from. I guess that is just the nature of dealing with a dealership but just dont think that was needed. The truck in the condition it was in and the market for the cheap work trucks I felt was fair.
Extremely courteous and friendly staff. They went the extra mile to find the exact vehicle we wanted. They really made my wife and I feel special and important. As a sign of confidence in the safety of this vehicle, we bought another Santa Fe. My previous vehicle, a 2019 Santa Fe, saved my life in a head on crash with a drunk driver. Thank you Jordan and Henry and everyone else involved. GREAT DEALERSHIP!
Excellent work all around. We hit several snags in the repair process that required me to come back a few times, but they were always great at communicating what was going on, and how long it would take. Very friendly staff, accommodating, painless process from start to finish. Will definitely go back if I need future repairs.
I bought a SUV from Don Wood Hyundai yesterday and would like to say it was a very pleasant experience. My salesman Chris was very professional . he could answer all my questions and if he didnt know the answers would look it up. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend them highly.
I recently brought in my Santa Fe to the Don Wood Service Team with a major mechanical problem. Through their professional efforts they properly diagnosed the problem and found the problem to be covered by warranty. They succeeded in replacing the faulty part and put me back on the road in no time at all. I admire their professionalism and expertise and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trusted source of service.
We drove an hour and a 30 minutes ish to get the car I thought I was getting! After getting there and test driving the car it turns out they lied about EVERYTHINGNo backup camera, no bluetooth, no push start, no power seats, the car wasnt even 4WD like it was suppose to be!Ive already been approved and had my payments set. Ive already seen the finance fee that he said they do not change at all. So the car ended up being cheaper but my payments somehow went up to almost $400.We left with no car. Would not recommend
Was suppose to come in at 10 am, entered at 9:30. No one offered help though they were busy. Understandable guys at front desk see me standing there and say nothing, like someone will be with you in a little while you can have a seat. So I sat there for 45 min in waiting room. Finally not knowing if anyone would know why I was waiting I just left. Just my experience.
Superior customer service and attention to even the most minor details makes Don Wood Hyundai the most outstanding automobile sales and service dealer Ive ever dealt with. All of the team members made selecting and purchasing a vehicle that met my wishes a stellar event for me. I have always wanted a Hyundai vehicle due to its fabulous warranty and manufacturing excellence, and I chose Don Wood based upon a previous experience in acquiring a car for my wife. So it was no surprise when I received the same top quality attention the second time around. My sales person was very professional, knew every detail about the car I wanted, and took all the time I needed to make a choice that satisfied my needs and wishes. He was helpful, patient, courteous, knowledgeable, personable, and VERY professional. He answered all my questions, both before, during, and after the sale. No pressure; just total concern for my requirements. No detail was left to chance, no question left unanswered, and no consideration overlooked. From start to finish, my car-buying experience couldnt have been better! Id recommend Don Wood Hyundai to anyone who wishes to have the very finest customer experience, from the initial contact to the moment of delivery and beyond. In my opinion, the Don Wood group is a top-drawer company. Im more than pleased to have dealt with them, especially my salesman, Jordan Coffman but also the entire staff at the Don Wood Hyundai! Thanks Don Wood!!!
We were making a 11 hour trip to see our grandson in the hospital and on the last hour of the trip our fuel pump went out. After getting our car into the dealership, the service team got us right in. They ordered the part right away, getting it on the last delivery truck to be delivered that day. Then the part arrived, they had everything ready to install the new part and got us on our way. Even taking the time to ask about our grandson.Thank you to the great service team. Your hard work was greatly appreciated.
I brought my 2019 Sante Fe in for routine 30,000 mile checkup. Made the appointment online and received a text reminding me of my appointment. Then received a text from Gary my service adviser letting me know I could contact him with any questions I had while my car was there. Overall, it was a great experience.
If you are interested in buying a car, see Henry at Don Wood Hyundai. He will answer your questions, ask what you require in your next car, not push you to want more car or more technology and not bother you with daily calls or emails. He is a professional and has a respectful manner.
Gary went to bat for me when I was in distress when my car broke down. He found a way to accommodate me. His auto service technicians did a superb job on fixing my Tuscon and got me back on the road safe and sound. I will always be thankful for this crew during a very stressful time. Highly recommended!!!
I took my recently purchased (private transaction), 2011 Hyundai Accent GL to Don Wood Hyundais service department with a couple of questions about some minor things I didnt know how to resolve. The service/parts personnel came to my rescue & resolved my questions without asking for any payment. Thanks guys, you made my day. These guys are great!!!
Went down after work after the wife said she needed a car. They stayed late, got me into the car that i wanted, in the price range that i needed. Jordan the salesman that helped me was quite friendly and personable and made me feel comfortable and important. My wife and I love her new Elantra and couldnt be happier. Ive even told my mother in law to go down and talk to him and possibly get one.
I own a 2003 Santa Fe the fuel line had a leak called in to the parts department and asked for needed parts I was told the car is to old they dont make or stock the parts for vehicles that old. I called the Hyundai dealer in Parkerburg and had no problem getting the needed partsAfter speaking with the manager Mike Wallace he has dealt with the issues in the parts department and I am hoping for a better experience with my next visit.
I love to bash people on these reviews, but I literally have nothing bad to say about this place. Best place in town to buy a new or used car! They are very pleasant people and will tell you exactly what you need to know about the car. Even after you have the car they still help you with any small problems that may come up. Don Wood just inherited a very loyal customer!
Jordan provides excellent service, His honesty and dedication when selling me my new car is more than appreciated. Matt makes financing and all of that paper work smooth and hassle free!, this isnt the first car I have bought from Jordan and it certainly isnt the last. Don Wood employees really do go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. If you are shopping for a new car, you really do need to go to Don Wood in Athens and ask for Jordan !
I wasnt exactly in the market for a new car but I was in the market for something different and with a lot less miles than my old car. They let me know that theyd keep trying to help me get into a different vehicle after my first visit there. A few days later they call and let me know that they got me approved for a brand new car! And they payments werent that much highet than what I was already paying plus I have warranties on it that would have cost an extra car payment for my last car! Tyler was who worked with me and I highly recommend talking with him!
I normally dont do the whole review writing thing but I am definitely writing one on these guys. They were great at helping us get a car! We were in a bad spot with getting a car because we were not expecting to have to buy one but our car was stolen and totaled so we ended up needing one quick and our credit is not what it use to be, so we were panicking on what kind of car we would end up with or if we could get one at all. These guys worked so long and hard getting us approved to get a car and the car we got approved for is SO NICE! Way more of a car then we ever expected to own. I appreciate all the hard work you did for us more then youll ever know!!! You definitely have a customer for life our way! We are looking at replacing our SUV in a couple years and we will definitely be at your door to do it... With better credit this time so you dont have to work so hard lol!
The absolutely most hassle free courteous, beyond the second mile car buying experience I have ever experienced. Total professionals at ever possible juncture of the process of selecting, driving, and buying a car. In fact we purchased two vehicles and also helped our daughter select one as well. Don Woods staff truly put us first and we appreciate their professionalism.
I paid over $300 in labor for a new radiator installation for my Hyundai. The mechanic had no idea what he was doing. He forgot to connect my transmission fluid line to the new radiator, the transmission fluid drained out and nearly wrecked my whole transmission. On top of that, the other radiator fluid lines were not connected properly. My car was pouring fluids (coolant, oil, transmission fluid) because of the mechanic at Don Wood. I took my car back twice and they claimed to have fixed the problem, when they actually did nothing but tell me they put more clamps on... I know they did nothing because after taking my car to an independent shop, I was told that whoever installed the radiator was completely careless and lazy. I had to pay the outside guy extra money to uninstall, clean all the fluids off my engine and car, and then reinstall the radiator the proper way (and he only charged me a fraction of what Don Wood charged me). Now I have no leaking issues. Save your money and time, dont go here for mechanical service!
I cannot say enough about what great service Gary provided to me in an urgent time of need. I was visiting Athens and my check engine light came on. Not knowing what to do and afraid to drive home in single digits temps, Gary and team ran a diagnostic and told me what to look out for so I could make it home safely. Thank you Gary and Don Wood Hyundai.
I chose Don to get my 2017 Sonata serviced for the first time. I had a great experience with the employees at Don. They were polite, helpful, and answered all my questions that I had about my car. I will be returning when I need any other service done. I would recommend this dealership to anyone.
A great first time buying experience Henry was fantastic and treated me well and made an extremely stressful situation still pleasant! Would absolutely recommend him every time and his manager was very honest and didnt try to push for something that wasnt what I wanted or needed. They were able to answer every question I had through the process and were extremely polite and kind when my insurance and bank took actual hours to send documentation. Im happy with my purchase and the service provided.
I have been there twice, once for a maintenance service and once for parts replacement. Appointments were easy to schedule. Staff was friendly. Waiting area was pleasant and comfy. My only complaint was they skipped a few items on the list during maintenance check. Also, during my second visit, I learned that they charge a diagnostic fee if you dont know what the problem is. Luckily I had it diagnosed at another repair shop for free. Still, I would come here again if I need anything replaced.
Service is always polite, professional, and timely. I have compared, and cant see savings going anywhere else.My most recent visit was more of the same. Although I have moved an hour further away, I still go here. They listened to my concerns and thoroughly checked out the problem.
Very unhelpful salesmen and staff! Bought a brand new 2016 veloster rally edition. Was told that even though it was a standard the remote start option with their app would work- obviously it didnt. Basically got a shoulder shrug type apology at the misinformation. At first the car was fine then all the oil leaked out of the engine-labeled a manufacturer problem. Luckily I caught in time and it was repaired. I bought the warranty on the wheels and tires and have bent a wheel on a pothole and cant seem to get a return phone call from the staff (service staff and salesman/warranty dept)- especially Clay Webb who sold us the car. Have left voicemails on his personal line x 3, spoke with service department staff and he told me he would call back and it has been 2 weeks and still no returned call. Has been over a month we have been dealing with trying to get our claim done to fix the wheel and still are at step one because Hyundai staff will not contact us back and Allstate requires Hyundai to contact them to go forward with the claim. Take your money elsewhere!!! they only care about the initial sale and once that is over they no longer want to help their customers.
Terrible service. Salesman was clueless about everything-from the cars to the finance part. Left us in the dark and had us waiting hours then days then weeks. I will never attempt to buy or lease a car from this particular lot as long as they employ clueless sale people. The gentleman my wife and I tried to get car from, on a trade in, ended up blowing the sale by not having the knowledge needed to make the transaction happen, he failed to communicate with us. Stay away from this lot. Go to any other don wood but not this one. I can’t get my time back wasted by these “salespeople” they employ.
Was interested in a couple of used vehicles on the lot. Test drove both. Decided our family really liked the second vehicle but in the test drive we smelled something burning and the vehicle vibrated something terrible. I told them we were interested but it would need to be take caren of first. A couple days later got the call we were good to go. Bought the car, two days later same problem. Called our sales guy about the issue. He said there was not much they could other than take a look at it, the service department would call us to get it scheduled. Never a call back. I’m now paying for a vehicle I now have to put more money into to drive. Also, they put the wrong sizescrews in my license plate... I almost lost it.Update, I changed my 1 star to 4 stars... after my initial review - the dealership contacted me. Someone in the service department was suppose to contact me but as we are all human a small mistake was made and I was never contacted. Now I could have called and bothered them, but I did not feel that it was something I should have to do! Anyhow, the general manager contacted me and explained the situation. He got my vehicle in two days later and it has been fixed. I was given a loaner vehicle while my vehicle was repaired, so I was not out work time. All in all, my initial impression of the dealership was not good, but they have earned my respect and gratitude.
I showed up at the dealership with pre-approved credit and a car already picked out. I test drove the car, filled out some paperwork, and drove off about three hours later. The staff could not have done more to make the experience painless. I plan to come back to this dealership if I choose to buy another Hyundai.Plus my Veloster R-Spec is pretty cool, too.
Service is 5 star, couldnt ask for better!! Gary is as good as they come and probably the nicest guy Ive ever met.when it comes to scheduling appointments, service,or any questions you might have hes the man.Cody the service tech is A-1,knows his stuff, good at what he does and is very nice, polite and willing to listen to and help people as much as he can.heck even Chet the lot guy is great, couldnt ask for a nicer fellow.only problem here is the PARTS DEPARTMENT AND the 5 hour a week MANAGER.Never seen a dealership ever where the technicians have to go to the PARTS DEPARTMENT and have to pull their own PARTS they need themselves, fill out the R.O. and lay it down by the parts managers computer so his only duty is to bill the parts the techs used in the computer.seems like itd be easier just to let the techs bill the parts also and save the company money from paying a person to watch baseball games on their cell phone all day.that will never happen tho because on MULTIPLE occasions the parts manager was witnessed leaving work sometimes for several hours at a time while remaining CLOCKED IN GETTING PAID for it.when a technician mentioned it to their manager they was told they needed to mind their own business.next thing you know that tech is being called to the main office to be diciplined.hopefully somebody higher up decides to fix the issue before the remaining quality workers left get tired of the nonsense and walk out one day never to return.

2022-04-21Had an appointment to look at a car, called while driving 2 hours away to look at car to ensure it was available. It was, when arriving I was told it was sold an hour ago. Drive two hours to an appointment and car sold without giving me a courtesy call, when they requested one from me. I find this type of management unprofessional, not even a sorry when I arrived.

2022-05-04Found a car here and wanted to purchase it (out of state sale). From the start I was always the one to make initiative to push forward on the sale, salesman lacked ambition to get the sale done. Quoted Im busy with customers and people who walk through the door have priority. After finally getting things situated, I was sent paper work to hurry and get back so I could set up shipping. They made an over night envelope that I got on a Thursday, I hurried and filled everything out and sent it back Friday (UPS doesnt work weekends). While all that was happening, I arranged ALL the shipping, they told me they didnt deal much with shipping so I found my own transport. The shipping company was waiting for them to release the vehicle, where again I texted and called for multiple days to keep communication open. Vehicle wasnt released on time because UPS dropped the package off at another Don Wood dealership and after letting my salesman and manager that the UPS package said delivered that morning, they didnt look until evening where it was too late to go get it, so it waited until the next morning to be picked up. That lost one shipper and had to pay an extra 400$ to get a new shipper and wait 2 more days. I told them i dont need license plates because I have my own here I can swap on, they sent me license plates anyway and now I have to pay for the swap. Once I received the vehicle, there was a headlight out, barely enough gas to get me to the gas station a 1/4 mile down the hill it was sputtering to get there, and brakes were so bad I took time off work the next day to go to Firestone and they said the rotors were so bad they were the furthest thing from street legal, which I knew because the slightest tap of the brake the whole car pulsated. So had to get new brakes on a new car that went through inspection and a missed headlight missed through inspection. Still to this day I have not received any of my paper work for the vehicle and I was told they were going to send me a 50$ check to get me the convenience Fee back...since I now have to go pay to have my license plates swapped....still havent gotten that either. Bad communication, very unorganized, not a trustworthy dealership. And Ive bought ALOT of cars from dealerships....and this was one of the worst transactions

2018-10-04Excellent customer service and a pleasure to deal with. Philip Skinner was my salesperson and he, as well as the rest of the Don Wood staff, went above and beyond what is to be expected. I wanted a specific color, that was hard to find, and the dealer did not have it in stock but offered a test drive of an in stock vehicle and acquired the exact color I wanted from another dealer the next day. The staff stayed late the day the car arrived so that I could complete the purchase that day. It was one of the best car buying experiences I have ever had. I returned to the dealer the following day to drop off the extra key for my trade-in and everyone was very friendly and made sure there was nothing else I needed.

2021-10-15Friendly atmosphere, clean store, no overpressure on car sales. Would have given 5 starts but it took a little longer than expected to talk to a salesman. After that smooth sailing.
