Independence location. Please hire help for this store. I visit several locations and thus is the first one that is a mess. Racks look like it has already seen black Friday, and the shoppers won. The cashier looked like she needed help. No carts available. Shelves were empty. Whos the general manager?
The employees at this store are very hard workers and always polite, helpful and happy.
I thought the store inside did not look clean. When checking out, one of the associates was friendly, but the other associate was rude. Any other dollar general Ive visited, I never ran into a rude associate.
Honestly the worst dg ive ever been to. But i live close soim required to go here when i need something quick. Dg is my fav dollar store and this one is a shame especially being where its at. Compared to nice ones there is always stuff everywhere and its not stocked. They are very cramped inside already but then they will have stocking carts left variously around the store. Especially in the left hand corner of the store. I avoid that part at all costs. However they usually have the odds or ends i need in a hurry and the snack isle stays uncramped clean no carts and stocked. So its just the rest of the store to worry about. Which is why i continue to go here. I usually get snacks or cigarettes. Recently the service has been much better back in october i would go in and not a worker in sight line at the register. Now in the past 2 weeks theres at least 1 worker at the register or within 5 ft of it. Thats why i gave it 3 stars instead of 1. Hope they improve the stocking issue in the rest of the store and maybe keep the carts in the back not all over.
Terrible and RACIST! Went there for ponds facial lotion to sooth my dry skin on my face. Upon arrival the racist cashier kept ringing the button stating someone needed assistance in EVERY aisle that I just so happen to conveniently go down (though I didnt ask for assistance) it was humiliating to say the least as other customers looked down the aisle trying to figure out who needed help only to realize that it was another black woman being profiled. Before you think to yourself it wasnt racially motivated keep in mind... IT WAS! Ill be contacting corporate because its painfully obvious that this is a trend at this specific store.
This location does not sale hair products for the black women! Yes, there’s women in and/or around independence that are women of color. I get offended each time I go in here to get something like hair gel (for course hair) or even a relaxer & they look at you crazy when you ask if they sell these products. Dollar General Management, please do better!
Store could use ba facelift. The girl working the store seemed to be alone. She was running around helping all of the customers. Hopefully she gets a raise.
This store could use a makeover. Several other stores in the area have been updated recently. I hope this one is next. Otherwise, its a typical Dollar General.
On 8/7/2016 I visited this store to get a gallon of milk. When I approached the checkout counter I noticed a young woman sitting on the floor counting cash behind the cash register. She told me that someone would be with me in a minute. While waiting, I noticed that the woman had the safe open. After 5 minutes the woman stands up and puts several hundred dollars in cash on the counter then proceeds to check me out. When I handed her a fifty dollar bill she told me she couldnt change it. This woman stood there with hundreds of dollars in 20s, 10s and 5s, IN PLAIN SIGHT AND AT HER FINGERTIPS and tells me she cant cash a fifty. Disgusted I asked for my money and left. Being very upset that this woman blatantly lied to me, I returned to the store 20 minutes later to talk to the store manager. Another male employee said that the woman that refused my business just left but said that she was the store manager. Her name is Ashley Legg.Update; On the same day, (August 7. 2016) I also called Dollar General corporate headquarters to file a complaint. I was told that my complaint would be answered within 24 hours and someone will return my call. It is now August 13, 2016 and my call to the corporate office has not been returned. I will never patronize this business again.
This store is convenient but its really cluttered and dumpy. It never feels clean. Definitely is disappointing, especially for such a nice community. They desperately need new management.
Extremely rude staff. Went shopping at 5pm on Friday May 15th 2020 and was told they were closed when there was clearly people in the store shopping. Lady would not let me in the store and would not give me a reason why. Sign says they close at 9pm. This was a Friday.
Very unprofessional. Had an online order and was emailed two days earlier that it was ready. Arrived to pick up and the employee stated it was not ready. Clearly just did not want to look for the order. Said I had to come back tomorrow. Will not be visiting again.
For future shoppers who are concerned about the “customer needs assistant” chimes. They are not specifically watching you, they are motion sensored. They chime every 30 seconds if there is movement in the aisle and they are placed all through out the store (cosmetics, facial care, asotv, laundry detergent, and air fresheners). Keep in mind this was a corporate decision, Dollar General is not a franchise. Dollar General corporate, in Tennessee, also makes the decision of what each store individually carries on the shelves and the prices as well.
This store allways stuff in carts here ...never have everything put away there is a couple nice workers here but there is a couple that are allways just standing around. Allways.... as for products they seem to have what i need.but in a cart not on a shelf ware it should be..
Love this place. They got all the name brands I like at a really great price. Store could be a little cleaner & straightened up but. Other than that no problems
This location has been very helpful during the pandemic to find essentials. I hope the store could expand their cold food section some day!
A little rushy considering that it was closing. Generally speaking polite staff. Great deals. And overall a pretty clean store.
Cant beat their pricing for greeting cards and they have quite a selection. Usually $1 sometimes two for a dollar. Some cards are $2.
The cashier helped me find what I was looking for and Everytime Ive been in there everyones helpful.

2022-03-15This place is always disorganized and dirty. The last time I went here, March 12, 22, I could barely walk the middle aisle because of the merchandise carts on either side. And the lady working there that day was too busy talking to her child(ren) and taking her good old time getting up to the register. The register also smelled strong of cigarette smoke. Take the extra 5 minutes and go to the ones on either Broadview Rd. and Sprague Rd. or Pleasant Valley Rd. and State Rd.

2020-11-01Dollar Generals are either really nice or really trashy. This store is small and it has a lot of product it a tiny space. My experience with the staff was that they were a bit older, and a tad grumpy. (Perhaps menopausal? )I was looking for Xmas items I couldnt find at other Dollar Generals. Ive been to 4 other stores and have already spent close to $100.00 just in Xmas items. This is 1.00+ up items, so its actually a lot of items for that amount of money.I was disappointed. But Im not surprised. I wont be returning to this location.

2020-12-15My friend arrived at this location 20 minutes prior to closing and was told that he was not allowed to come in. He mentioned the time and that he still had 20 mins left. The worker then told him there is a new manager and they need to train that person to close. He then stated that all he needed was body wash that would literally take just a few minutes. They let him go in. How weird and how unnecessary! 20 minutes till closing and you are physically trying to not allow any one else enter the store? How about closing at the stated time and THEN START THE TRAINING FOR CLOSING?

2021-02-14The heavy set Caucasian women working the cash register yelled at a customer (who was an old lady) to get out of the store to because the customer (who was an old lady) didn’t want her penny back...thia heavy set Caucasian women is always extremely rude to customers every time I come here and I go to this dollar store often. If she was my employee and I witnessed her doing this to a customer there would be a consequence for disciplinary action. Very distasteful.

2017-03-19Always friendly employees. Good service, usually fast. The selection including grocery is pretty good for a small neighborhood store. A decent variety of frozen for last minute too. Prices, especially on after holiday clearance type items can be exceptional.

2020-10-23This is an updated 1 star review.This location is dirty, is disorganized, and most importantly: is a location that DG corporate has made obvious they do not care for.Their solutions are the equivalent to a band aid that doesnt actually stick. There is no real leadership. There is never enough staff to run the place without compromising their quality of life and quality of work.Upon leaving my previous one-star review, I was requested to call their offices (I believe I spoke to the regional manager). He begged me to give their location a chance and to update my review. Its been at least 5 years of waiting and giving chances.Piss. Poor. Job. DG. Get your $*!* together and take care of it.

2020-03-01Clean but smaller DG store. Employees I have encountered have been great! Great finds during clearance sales as looks like people normally dont coupon here! Small unorganized clearance section tho!
