Awesome bakery!!! My mom LOVES their date nut cake which we get her every year in June for her birthday. They also have amazing pastries, danishes, cookies (their chocolate chip cookies are my favorite) and so many other items!! You will not be disappointed with anything you get here!!
If youve read any reviews you already know they have the best date nut cake. Prices are great, old school simple, tasteful decorating. Other bakery items are delicious as well. Buckeyes are the best. Service is always courteous and quick.
Ordered a cheese kuchen for my 95 year old father. Wanted it for Fathers Day, but told they had too many orders already and it could not be ready in time. It was fine but I ordered for the following Saturday pick up. They called me Saturday morning to let me know it was not in the order pick ups and didnt know why. How unfortunate for my father. Wont go there again.
Absolutely delicious baked goods. A nice variety of cookies, donuts, and pastries. Their cakes are amazing, too! They also sell bread. Their Parker House Rolls are the best Ive ever had. Recommend ordering ahead, especially during the holidays. Please note that they only take cash or check.
The date and nut cake here is excellent - truly the best around. The decorator however is an epic failure - my Mother’s Day cake had only 4 roses and just looked as if the decorator was having an extremely bad day or was running out of icing - very, very disappointing, Monday I ordered my mother’s birthday cake and requested extra roses - 4-6 come regularly I wanted 10-12 for a small extra fee but well worth it I thought— I was very wrong her cake had only 8 roses and they were the tiniest little things. So just FYI the cakes are 100% excellent the decorations get a 25% and that’s being generous. Don’t count on anything beautiful because it’s not happening here.
Yesterday I tried Paczkis from this bakery for the first time and my favorite ones were the cheese and the raspberry ones They were so AMAZING the jelly to dough ratio was perfect. Im from California and recently moved to Ohio I never knew of these treats and I didnt know they were only made once a year! I am so happy I got mine from here props to the Baker Brothers and their families that help run the bakery !

I dont live in the area any longer but will be visiting this weekend. Thought I would order a pastry tray and get my favorite cake ever.....date nut(only their version). What the heck! We used them for business and personal celebrations for decades without an issue. Cakes are always amazing. Anyone that would punish a business for the error of a 74 yrs old woman should be ashamed. Most likely this will affect the rest of her life. The parents understand. When did we become so righteous that we cant forgive. If anything happens and I cant get my cake 50 for the freezer.
Wonderful Bakery! There are many different pastry items available however, our favorites are the date nut cake and the kolaches (fluffy dough with jelly inside). I would recommend to others. Enjoy!
Great place certian things are REALLY GOOD sonthen i asked for a cheese cake to try ,and it was REALLY BAD like they make a perfect cake and then make the worst cheese cake i was in shock it went right in the trash it was that bad maybe it was a bad one or they have never tasted it themself.
My family and I have been buying the famous DATE NUT cakes for years. I am 30 years old now and have been enjoying these cakes since I can remember. I promise once you try one bite youll b hooked! The icing is perfect to! Take my word for it and go get one today!
Not only the best date nut cake and kolachki, but light butter cream frosting is beyond wonderful! Their date nut cakes were part of every family celebration, and my Mom used to bring them to us when we lived in TX!
I have been going here for years. The staff is wonderful and the choices of deserts is large. Extremely amazing chocolate chip cookies. I buy three dozen of them and theyll be gone within a few days.
Dicks bakery is a good local business to support when craving certain types of baked goods. They are mainly known for their date nut cupcakes/cake and their chocolate chip cookies. Not an extensive or fancy selection, but what they do make, they make well! And at very reasonable prices :)

Insanely unprofessional. I was told $19 and I paid but afterwards I went to pick up the product and the blonde lady who I’m guessing was the owner asked the cashier how she added. Then the owner said it was supposed to be $19.50 but they have a $10 minimum to f*** college students and I couldn’t put 50 cents on my card. Super unprofessional and embarrassing for ALL parties.
Some of my greatest memories are of Dicks Date Nut Cake! For 45 years this cake has been my favorite! I even had Dicks Date Nut Cake for my wedding! We live nearly 2 hours away now, but if we are town, I want to go to Dicks.For all of you who heard this or that how about a little forgiveness? I am sure all of the SJWs are so tolerant and know the whole story because you were actual witnesses. I sure you know the hearts of this elderly woman the management. Your attacks are pathetic and shameful.
We have been trying to find a replacement for the now defunct Bakers Bakery for date-nut cake. They are the closest we have found. Better than the pizza shop (also now closed) that actually purchased the Bakers Bakery recipe.
Great bakery; its unfortunate one mistake by an employee has blown up into what this has become. The bakery quickly apologized after being made aware of their mistake and Im not sure what else can be asked for. Perfection would be great, a mistake free company would be also, but unfortunately we live in a world where someone makes an error and social media jumps on that and is unrelenting. As someone who has not been mistake free in my life, I appreciate Dicks honest apology in regards and that they have used this as a teaching moment. Hopefully Carol comes back to the shop, very nice lady.

I ordered a birthday cake to be picked up on Christmas Eve.....OMG the cake was decorated better than expected they totally went above and beyond! Plus all the extra stuff I bought was heaven to the tastebuds! I highly recommend this incredible bakery!!!!

Ive never even gone to this bakery but I think it is so wrong that you people would give so many 1 stars because of one mistake of one employee, not to mention to wish that the place would be shut down... seriously?! Theres already a serious shortage of mom and pop stores in our community and now you want another one to go out of business? Have some mercy for goodness sake.
They date nut anything is amazing.Flavor and the buttercream frosting is perfect. Not too sweet. Runner up is the chocolate cake same result amazing.

Doesnt matter how the food tastes, the attitude of the manager when she tossed out a blind kid and her obviously marked service dog is more than enough to shut this place down. The ADA has been notified and, if it were my kid, a lawyer as well. If every person leaving negative reviews all over the Internet knows the law, I dont think, Oops....we didnt know... Is going to save this place. I assumed the bakery was named after someone, but on second thought perhaps its moniker is more descriptive of the people running the place.
This is a great bakery. Pls dont judge it by a story of a mistake made by an employee. If you were there you can express you concern. If you were not there you really dont know. A bad mistake, yes absolutely, but who hasnt made a mistake? Yes, my sister was blind, I know what the blind face everyday.
Their date and nut cakes are dried up and terrible. And after my own experience with that nasty old woman waiting on me, and now how she threw out a blind girl with her guide dog, I advise everyone to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Ive been there twice, and twice the people behind the counter were sour looking and nasty. I guess they all hate working there. And after that hag treated that lovely blind girl the way she did, thats it for me......
After hearing how this place treats a potential customer, let along a person with an obvious disability, I can assure you that I will never purchase anything here. They should be ashamed at their actions, or the actions of their employees. They should feel lucky if legal action isnt brought against them for failure to comply with ADA laws.
Nice baked goods, very reasonable prices and as others have mentioned the date nut cake is second to none. It is cash only and I find its best to go early.
There is no reason to not support a business just because an employee dis not know about th law. Considering that she was fired, obviously the place does not support this kind of behavior. Now i am not saying it is okay but at least they did what they could to fix it. This is a little private business trying to make ends meet too guys.I always support small businsses like this becuase they are very inexpensive, tasty, and do not use preservatives! I havd not yet been dissapointed with anything I tried here! Crumb cake, walnut thing, and turnovers are amazing!! Love this place. I get a whole box of goodies for my family for under 10$. I do not go to any other bakery anymore bc this place exceeds my expectations!

Good ole Dicks is my fav when in the heart of Berea ! Cant get any better than Dicks. I will stop when Im on my Honda Shadow during the early morning in the summer. I get two donuts & a coffee and sit with the veterans in the town center on a quiet morning.

I come once a year to get a date and nut cake from a far distance. The cake is usually decorated in spring colors. I was disappointed when I picked up this one because it was only done in white with a blue trim for the writing. Not the quality that I normally expect.
Amazing assortment of hot cross buns, poppyseed roll, donuts, coffee, and other baked goods like cake. They are renting their upstairs if you are looking for a new office space for your business.
The last few posts say everything anyone needs to know about this craphouse. Any business that turns away a blind child because of her seeing-eye-dog should get all the love and support from the community that it deserves. They sell donuts at Sheetz, guys.
I do not support a place that would have terrible customer service as to deny a blind person service because of their service animal...and then use an excuse that she didnt look blind as a valuable excuse. U shouldnt have a business if you do both know how to deal with ppl with a disability.

Cant believe you would be so rude to a person with a disability along with having a guide dog, which obviously said on him Guide Dog if i were even going to visit long distance while seeing family, i wouldnt even give you my business. 2022-06-20Great job on our most recent cake order! We ordered a white marbled sheet cake with butter cream frosting. It was ready on time, done in the colors we requested and looked really nice. Cake was super moist, frosting was delicious and everyone asked where it came from. All this for $52.I will order from here again for sure and recommend this place for others to check out.

2022-02-08Not sure what has happened to this bakery. Last few times I got a cake it was so so. I just had a birthday cake made and cost me 24.00 and it was dry and didnt have any flavor. Being chocolate it should have tasted like it but it was bland. Date nut cupcakes are good but scaled down in size.. really small.. the date nut cakes are probably good but alot of people especially kids dont like date nut. Also there selection is the same every time. Doubt Ill support this bakery anymore. Especially the cake orders.

Delicious and light, not too sweet, it ticked all the boxes.Just wonderfully decadent cake.The donuts were good, but I asked for 2 creme sticks and the girl have me 2 custard sticks, yuck. Even though I prefer creme stick to custard stick, the custard was decent.Will stop in again

2021-02-17Great local bakery that serves handmade sweets. I got some Paczkis for the family yesterday and they were delicious. The inferior of the bakery is dated, but honestly I don’t care what the interior looks like as long as the product is good. I also go their famous Date Nut Cake and it is amazing. The frosting is incredibly light and fluffy and the right amount of sweet. Seriously if my wife didn’t stop me I would/could eat the whole cake myself.

2022-05-04Where did the nuts go in the date nut cake. Not in the cake I bought. I buy this cake once a month and the cakes are getting less in nut and very dry. I just bought one Tuesday no nuts. What is going on. Very Disappointed. I think I have to make my own with nuts.

2018-12-22Great hometown bakery. Most known for their Date and Nut cakes. A must try. At the Holidays the Fruit cake is one everyone eats. I also have a soft spot for the doughnuts. They are fresh and melt in your mouth.

2019-09-14I have no idea how this place is still in business! We desperately tried for weeks to order one of there famous date nut wedding style cakes. The people answering the phone never knew anything about cakes. They told us to come in to order it so we could talk to the cake person. They told us when to come. We went and no cake person was there. We told the lady what we wanted and even showed her a photo. Nothing complicated. She said they could only do white frosting no colors. Also wed have to decorate it ourselves and tier it as well. Hello... Isnt this a bakery?!!!We seriously ended up making our own cake pictures below to show how simple a cake this bakery was incapable of making.Ridiculous! Also unfriendly. Their cases were mostly empty and I heard her say they couldnt sell a customer cupcakes because they were still frozen. Um...ok.WORST BAKERY EVER!
