Weve been to the urgent care a few times and once even the ER. We have had to wait a bit for these, but never anything too crazy and everyone is always so nice and professional. However, the 5 stars come from my sons outpatient surgery at their surgery center. There was constant communication, my usually shy/nervous son was totally at ease, and he actually went back ahead of schedule. He had a rough post-op and recovery lasted almost an hour longer than predicted. The same nurse stayed in the room with us the entire time and I never felt rushed to leave or that she had other people she needed to get to. Between my two kids, this is the fifth outpatient surgery weve been through (lucky, I know), and it was by far the best experience.
Recently I had to take my daughter to the Children’s Emergency Room and Urgent Care on separate occasions for separate reasons. I have nothing but good things to say about this facility as a whole. It’s clear to me that this hospital sets a high standard for the care they give to their patients and that’s extremely important when it comes to your child. On the first occasion when we had to visit the ER because my 9 month old daughter broke out in hives, we were checked in immediately. There multiple nurses in the room helping us and within less than 10 minutes the doctor entered the room. We stayed for three hours, during this time, my daughter was checked on frequently by the nurses and the doctor. All staff we interacted with were calm, knowledgeable, and positive people who were so kind to my daughter. This put me at ease during a high stress situation, I never doubted for a moment that she wasn’t being properly taken care of or that they were neglecting her. At other emergency rooms there’s always a significant wait time and you don’t get to see a doctor as quickly. The second occasion, we had to go to the Urgent Care for a smaller issue that we would’ve seen a doctor for but since it was a Saturday we had to go. Again, we were checked in right away with no wait and the nurses who assisted were very knowledgeable and very clear with anything they told us. The doctor was very sweet and kind to my daughter and got us in and out quickly. Both facilities were spotless. Cleanliness is a major way to communicate care and this facility definitely cares for the well being of others. After both visits, the nurses called me personally to follow up and see how my daughter was doing in the days following our visit. I have never experienced this kind of follow up from an urgent care or emergency room. Dayton Children’s sets the bar high for everyone else.I feel very lucky to live close to Dayton Children’s should I need to bring my daughter there again. I would highly recommend taking your child to this facility.
We came here for outpatient surgery for our daughter. They were incredible with her. They managed to keep her entertained for an hour prior to surgery and they were kind and quick to keep us updated on her status. The staff treated her wonderfully. I would 100% choose this hospital if any of my children needed treatment again.
Stopped in as we were traveling back home and this was the nearest urgent care . We arrived and there was one other family in waiting room , they were called back immediately and so were we . They immediately placed us in a room , strep swan was preformed , RN was present quickly to finish.m history info . I thought WOW , they are blazing . So the RN informed me that there was 2 providers - one MD and one NP and there was 3 patients ahead of us and they are seen in the order of arrival . (I would have thought via triage , but that is not what I was told ) . After RN left we waited 1 complete hour and the nurse returned and asked if we need anything while we waited . Drinks were provided , that was nice . Another 43 minutes ticked by before the NP arrived to do an assement .Now this is an urgent care with an emergency room connected to it , so in my opinion if someone needed more care than what is typical of a urgent care - to easy to get them the help they need. Given most of what they are doing is probably everyday upper resp diagnosis, then why would it take so incredibly long to long .Our time with nursing was fine and the NP was fine while in the room - something just be done about the wait to make it worth while going there .
We have used the Urgent care at this location probably a dozen times already since it has been build. We have never had any sort of negative experience. You can register online, wait times are very reasonable and the staff has always trying to help whenever we had any questions. The facility has plenty for kids to do, so even if we needed to wait for lab results to come back, kids never got bored so far.
This past Saturday I brought my son to this urgent care, mind you we live in Vandalia (30 min drive). With most urgent cares not being very promising, I was nervous but at the same time hopeful because it was a children’s urgent care. My son was exposed to my mom who had the flu and was presenting flu like symptoms. Dr. B, whom we saw didn’t take any chances. After testing positive for the flu but negative for RSV she decided to tx us over to the ER and had the nurses give him an iv bolus (fluids) due to signs of dehydration. The doctors in both the urgent care and ER were wonderful as well as the nurses! Thank you for the timely treatment and for being so proactive!
My childrens pediatrician informed me that I was able to make appointments to be seen at childrens urgent care. As a first experience it was horrible!!! I would of been better off doing a walk in at any hospital. There were very little workers for me to ask any questions about our wait. Allegedly there were alot of patients that had to be transported to the emergency which caused the long wait. Not to mention being in the stuck in the room for almost 3 hours with 2 books and children. There was nothing to entertain them with. People should realize that this is urgent care not an emergency room. On the other hand, the hand full of nurses that I had contact with were very nice and polite even after dealing with me from being irritated about the whole thing.
Our pediatricians office was closed, and we were instructed to go here in the case that my sons symptoms worsened. After checking in, we waiting 2 hours even though the number of those in the waiting room were low. Eventually we made the decision to leave and care for our sick kid at home. All of the other reviews are unfortunately true:We would have been better off going to the ER.This was the first and last time taking our kids here.Waiting for that long to get treatment is unacceptable for a place claiming to provide urgent care.
I took my son here to the ER last month to get checked out due to him throwing up and being unable to even keep water and Pedialyte down for more than 5 - 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we didnt even encounter a wait time; the pricing was a bit high though in my opinion because they pretty much only took vitals and prescribed Zofran for his stomach bug. I was unaware that ER visits for minor issues like that were going to be so expensive. In summary I would like to give 4 stars due to their friendliness and great care but I gave 3 because I feel that they should give you an estimate up front about how much you may expect to pay for your visit, and I think that they should pull up your insurance (especially if you are a bit clueless about your policy like I am) at check-in to let your know your coverage with them and to let you know if it would be cheaper not to use insurance, which in my case I believe that it would have cost me less.
We were at the Springboro Childrens Medical Center yesterday with our son for PE tube surgery and I cant talk enough about how polite the nurses (Jen) and doctor staff (Elluru) were. There was no wait, they were efficient and generous. In dealing with a 15 month old and his mom, the staff is truely geared towards kids. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience, especially during a very nervous time.
I just want to say that I am so thankful and impressed with Dayton Children’s south campus. We go there for our children’s meds at their pharmacy, but today my son who has severe autism broke his foot. They were so amazing with how they treated him. They had child life there to help him stay calm and distracted during X-ray. And when he wouldn’t tolerate the walking boot till we could get an appointment with ortho, they were able to see us right away and get him in his cast. The gentleman who put on the cast was amazing. I am beyond thankful! Thank you all!
Signed in online, and got there about 15 mins prior to appointment time. Waited about 30 mins to go back into a room. Once in a room the nurse was in and out very quickly with very little to no concern on what had brought us in. My daughter was running a fever, and was never offered any medicine. After waiting an hour to see the doctor, to find how she had an ear infection like I told her, she gives us a prescription, and sends us on our way. We get home, and give her Motrin for her fever but by this time it was to late, she started to have a seizure. The seizure was caused from the fever. So if she wouldve received the right treatment at urgent care I dont believe this wouldve happened. There are soo many children that ONE doctor is suppose to see. Never will that make sense to me. Maybe two toys in your room for your children to entertain themselves if youre lucky!
Took my son to Children’s south campus ER last night. I can tell you I have NEVER had a more rude doctor in all my life! Our RN Kim was a total sweetheart so there are some good workers. The PA apparently got her feelings hurt because after the third time of her coming in and me asking her a question she again had to call a doctor, which btw we had not seen at all even after all the test were ran, I said is there’s doctor here because if I’m getting billed to see a doctor I’d like to talk to one. Understand we were finding out nothing so I’m sure this is going to be a $3,000 visit for nothing and I wanted answers. She lies and tells the doctor I cursed at her so this doctor comes in and spoke so rudely to me even as I’m telling him exactly what I said to her her tells me to not speak until he is finished! I let him finish and when I go to tell him what actually was said he interrupted me!!! All of this in front of my son mind you! I will never go back! I can not believe the way these “professionals” treated me. Then due to her lies the PA of course would not come back in the room. At this point I wanted out of that hospital! I have always relied on Childrens for all my children and I am so upset how downhill they have went! This place is a joke! They should have saved there money from the add on! Another thing I am so tired of is we have to pay these doctors who talk to us like that and give us no answers and they don’t have to have any accountability because they get paid whether they help your child or treat you like dirt it doesn’t matter! What is this world coming to when the people we are relying on to help our children are rude, disrespectful and clueless??!! Wish I would have caught his name but I was so mad I didn’t even ask. A young doctor who works the ER. Believe me if I figure out his name I will update my post.
Possibly one the most incompetent childrens staff Ive ever seen. The doctors spoke to me like I was completely uneducated about taking care of my child and gave no regard to my concerns. Lets be clear Im in no way a part of the medical field, but I know my child and I know when he doesnt feel well and when his condition is getting worse. After two trips to this facility with the second being a complete waste of time we now find ourselves in the emergency room for I.V. fluids and antibiotics. My 2 year old, dehydrated and the dose of antibiotic they gave us several days earlier according to his primary care physician was not even enough to enter his system. I dont ask for any special treatment for my child but adequate care, educated administration of anything that will help I think should be a standard that they would hold themselves to. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
My daughter had a 104 temperature and congestion. Came to the er south campus. Called us back immediately took great care of my daughter fast efficient and not as invasive as doctors office or urgent care when testing for the flu they suction which is much less scary for the kids .. very clean and all the staff was super.. Great experience 😊
There was about an hour wait to go back to a room. Them maybe 30 minutes to be waited for the doctor. Not too bad of a wait for urgent care. The doctor was young and very friendly. She caught a testicular appendage which is rare. I was very grateful for her knowledge on something not common, especially since I had no clue what it was when she said it.
Drove 20 minutes to this location and found out that they dont open until 3 p.m. ! Im absolutely dumbfounded at the availability. I was trying to avoid the cost of a trip to the emergency room and waiting to get into the pediatrician office. Other than that the place is nicely laid out and spacious as well as clean.. unlike the Dayton hospital (we was avoiding that one as well).
Beautiful campus! Very clean modern. For childrens hospita/doctor the lack of toys for and games to keep children busy while they wait its just ridiculous. You are a childrens hospital!!!! I feel like this location is more concerned with new modern and light up stairs, then making it a comfortable fun environment for children.
Beware the Urgent Care! This is the only urgent care in the area that charges like a hospital and not an urgent care. A visit - that to any other urgent care would have cost me a $35 copay - cost over $100 after I was individually billed for a facility charge, a pharmacy charge, a lab charge, a doc charge...ect... The facility was nice and the care acceptable but I can get better care at my local Little Clinic for far less money.
They are an okay place, not to long of a wait but if I had got there close to closing time and when my son seen the doctor, he had rushed and not examined him properly for his diaper rash and I know for a fact its a yeast infection and now have to go back again due to the fact there didnt catch this the first time...
Dayton Childrens Hospital and Orthopedic Dept. continues to disappoint. After multiple poor experiences we took our daughter to Premier: Miami Valley South. Night and day difference in diagnosis detail and experience. If referred or have to go to a Childrens Hospital we will be going to Cincinnati Childrens in Liberty Twp.
They left us sitting in a room for over three hours and nobody came in at all. I went to leave and ask for a refund and the conveniently couldnt do it. They were rude. We even used their so called online check in and still waited over three hours before finally leaving. Stay far far away from this place.

2022-07-19The staff was so friendly. We took my 9month old to the ER for a fever. They diagnosed quickly and got us in and out with no problem and being so early in the morning, the staff were all super nice and friendly even when my son wouldn’t stop screaming! I appreciate them so much for being so helpful and answering questions.

2022-03-25We have always had positive experiences with this facility. We have been to both the Urgent Care and the Emergency Room. I cannot thank the caring physicians and nurses that cared for my daughter through an anaphylactic reaction and my 4 week old son through RSV. As a parent, these were terrifying events. Through the kindness and quality care from the wonderful peole at Childrens, our kids got through them and we learned how to care for each situation. Thank you for the attentive care, Dayton Childrens!

2022-05-17My daughter would have been a lot better off had we never gone to the ER. For starters, we came in for a 104 degree fever, and the room they had us in was very hot with no air flow. I asked everyone that came into the room if they could lower the temperature or provide us with a fan for our feverish baby. They all said they would check, and then left and did not return or do anything. We were waiting for several hours in the heat to be seen despite it being late and my baby crying. It was then past my babies bedtime by the time the nurse came in. I had just breastfed my baby and she was finally sleeping peacefully in my arms after a very trying day. Her fever had also gone down thanks to the Tylenol I had given to her before we left for the ER (the ER had not given her anything or done anything to help with her fever). That was when the nurse came in to administer motrin. I voiced concern beforehand. I told her my baby was tired, I could feel that her fever had gone down, and that she may vomit, which would be a big problem because I had just nursed her for the night. The nurse became defensive and shut me down, telling me that she knew better than I did (the mom) because she was a nurse. She then proceeded to force feed my baby motrin as my baby cried and screamed in protest. I kept pleading with the nurse saying, lets just give her a minute as the nurse forced purple motrin down my babys throat. While the nurse was force feeding motrin, my baby vomited more vomit than I thought could ever come out of such a little baby, and all my breastmilk that my sick baby desperately needed was thrown up all over me. The nurse then proceeded to casually brush it off and left the room, leaving me covered in vomit with a screaming baby. At that point I tried to leave, but a different nurse convinced me I had to stay because my sick baby had thrown up (thanks to the other nurse) and dehydration was now a concern. My baby is purely breastfed and will not take a bottle, so I had no way to rehydrate her. The ER not only did nothing for my sick baby, they actually made matters much worse. We would have been A LOT better off had we stayed home. The whole visit was unnecessarily traumatic all around. The nurses did not listen or provide care in any capacity to my sick baby.

2022-05-28We saw Dr Albert in Ortho for our 2 yr old who is obviously limping. He had a toddler fracture in the other leg 6 months ago and so we immediately were concerned this could be case again. Dr. Albert should NOT be working at a childrens medical center to begin (no enthusiasm, no character - like a stone personality). He was in the room for maybe 5 minutes and decided our child would be fine. No further investigation - just come back in a week or two if still persists. Our child is clearly in pain today but NOT going to childrens to see this guy. Heading to columbus to nationwide. Dr albert should consider changing environments completely.Oh and the xray room matches Dr Albert personality. Nothing to look at and distract kids. The main Dayton campus has all sorts of stuff which helps ease kids through the xrays.

2018-06-28Stopped by to have some outpatient labs completed for my two boys. The lobby was wonderfully kid-friendly and my boys made the most of the available toys and wall-mounted video games while we waited for roughly an hour. Once we got inside the staff was wonderful and engage each boy appropriately and insured they had a pleasant experience (except for maybe the blood draw...go figure).Bottom line: I would absolutely not hesitate bringing my boys back.

2021-12-04Brought in my 6 YO for a laceration on her chin. Such attentive, friendly, respectful, and wonderful people. Everyone we interacted with directed their communication to my daughter, making her feel safe and in control of her own body. Despite needing two stitches (something she was VERY concerned about) at the end she said she had a “good time” at the hospital. Very impressed with the quality care we received.

2021-11-14Had to take my daughter to the ER 2 years ago when she had an unexplained fever under 60 days old. The Dr was absolutely fantastic. The nursing staff was great at explaining things and made an unimaginably hard night a little better with their amazing care and understanding. I hope I never have to go back, but if I have an emergency for either of my children, they are my #1 choice!

2022-01-05We have had some good visits where they take us seriously and some where they just plain don’t. My problem is that I 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND getting your child COVID tested here. Myself, my husband, and my son have all tested positive while testing at the same time as my stepson who has come back negative multiple times. He’s quarantined with us and showing the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS. Just speaking from my own experience here, having difficulties of figuring out how long my son is out of school because of this.

2021-01-29Went to urgent care because my 6 year old busted his forehead open and had to get stitches. Everyone there was amazing to say the least. We didn’t wait at all, but were shown right in a room where all nurses, staff, and NP were so attentive, helpful, and just awesome. Our child was very nervous about getting stitches, but the Child Life Specialists were game changers for his level of comfort. They explained exactly how stitches worked so he understood what to expect and were so kind, caring, and thoughtful with him. Would highly recommend this urgent care to anyone.

2021-09-05Very disappointed with our experience this morning. MD Roberta Dilego was extremely rude and unprofessional towards both my son and myself. This is a childrens hospital, and I will not bring my children back to this location in the future in fear of being treated this way again. I would recommend having staff, aside from their views, that treat people and their kids with respect especially when it comes to their choices. I have been to childrens many times with both my kids so i have an idea how everything works especially before leaving. She didnt ask if i had any questions, if we needed tylenol or anything. Just said that my son had a fever and thats that. Terrible service.
