If you can find ANY OTHER OPTION to get your child COVID 19 tested , TAKE IT!! My child has Allergies and they decided DAY BEFORE her surgery to require she get a covod 19 test or they are Cancelling her surgery we have waited Months to get. We have been in line for almost 2 hours and are only half way through the line. She has been sobbing for 45 minutes because she has been stuck in the car seat so long and they wont let surgery patients get tested anywhere else. This is ridiculous shes barely 2 yrs old. I did covid 19 testing for a living there ARE better ways this could be set up or they could of at least allowed surgery patients to make appointments or be tested else where. They have us wrapped through 3 parking lots. This far in testing should not be this ridiculous .
My granddaughter was rushed to childrens for a serious fall She had hit her head and body she is only 2 years old The nurse in the ER nurse Megan told us to take a seat and wait for a head injury and vomiting We waited about 5 to 10 minutes then she was tooken back for her vital signs and then put in a waiting area waited for a room for 45 minutes they did a cat scan and x-ray took another 45 minutes to a hour said she has a hairline fracture in her skull they didnt even treat her cut on her head didnt keep her to observe her and told my daughter to follow up in a week with a Nero surgeon is this the care they are giving for a serious injury/ fall COVID has tooken over so much that our health care professionals no longer care for those that are injured ! I pray my granddaughter will be okay I am taking her for a second opinion Dont go to this childrens hospital when I get ahold of the administration Today they will take my complaints and concerns Im am extremely upset
I am currently in Dayton Childrens ICU. My daughter is fully disabled and special needs. I’ve brought her here since she was a baby. We’ve always had phenomenal experiences here, which is why I’m still shocked at the lack of urgency I’ve experienced now. My daughter gets sick easy and fast. We’ve nearly lost her twice years ago due to illness which is why they like to put Alyssa in ICU even if she doesn’t appear to need it. This time, yeah, she needed to be in ICU. Alyssa’s left lung has scar tissue and her right lung has pneumonia. She currently has Parainfluenza. It’s easy for mucus to pocket and make it hard for her to breath.Alyssa is on bipap currently to help her breathe, last night she dropped to 84. Normal is preferably high 90’s, but she’s not the standard case. At 84 we need to get things figured out so she can breath.I pushed the red nurse light button. I waited 2-3 mins, nobody answered. Once she dropped to 82 I had my ex-husband run into the hall and flag someone down. Was I frustrated? Yes, but things happen. Accidents happen. I know nurses are overworked and short staffed. So I didn’t say anything but they knew I wasn’t happy. Not even 2hrs later she drops down to 81% oxy. I hit the red nurse button again, someone did promptly answer. I told them her oxy was destating and that she fell to 81 rapidly. She told me she would call my nurse.Ok. I work at a vet clinic as an animal nurse. If I holler that a patient is destating, it’s all hands on deck. It doesn’t matter if that’s your patient or not. Contact her nurse since that nurse knows Alyssa’s treatment, but someone get in here to help manage her.Alyssa dropped to 79, under her eyes she was turning purple. I had my ex run back out the hallway. This time I’m fuming so I tell everybody who comes in here that I want to speak to the DON. And yes I was angry. My nurse didn’t get the page about Alyssa until she was already nearly done helping her….After that, Alyssa’s care has been exceptional. Still, last night I asked to talk to someone, The Charge Nurse, anyone. I explained to my nurse that I know it’s not her fault. I was there when she got the page about Alyssa. I’m not mad at her. She hadn’t been getting buzzed. Maybe it’s a tech problem. Staffing. Communication. Organization. Idk but this is not ok. It the Intensive Care Unit.I had to ask again last night about speaking to the charge nurse. The new nurse on shift said she had heard a little bit about what happened, but asked me to explain. So I did explain. She did tell me that it can take 1-2 mins for a page to go through to the nurse; which I didn’t know and I feel parents should be made aware of that. She was polite and tried to help me Understand the reasoning my child wasn’t able to be tended to promptly. This nurse S. did get the Charge Nurse G, (sorry, I’m not trying to name drop them. Charge Nurse G. Does come in. She does tell me she would be more than happy to talk to me and listen, but if I would like to wait until 11pm the assistant of nursing and Charge Nurse K. Would be an awesome person to talk to since she’s higher up.Charge Nurse G. Did politely explain procedures. I was unaware that when my child is destating, I can hit the red nurse button, but if the girls are charting it may be a minute before they can answer…so I can absolutely run and flag someone down or I can also go across the room to the phone and dial my nurse.I said that was fine. That I had never been told that if I push the red nurse button that it may take a bit before someone can answer. I asked to have that written in her chart and printed out for me so I will have this reference for the next time she’s struggling to breathe.I haven’t received any documents about the incident. And Charge Nurse K. Did not talk to me about the incident last night. I waited up until 1am. I’m not even blaming Charge Nurse K. I can’t verify that anybody even told her that I needed to talk to her.3 people I know run dialysis clinic. They’ve been nurses for years. I contacted them to see if I was over reacting. Nope.
I’m an adult on Christmas Eve who was given a prescription for an ear infection at 9:05 PM from an Urgent Care with no pharmacy. I called Children’s out of desperation to see if their pharmacy would help me and they did! In the true spirit of the season, their kindness meant the world to this mama! Now I can enjoy Christmas day with my husband and kids! Thank you!!!
Worst experience of my life, I will never come back to this location I will forever go to springboro location. The doctor Yagnaram Ravichandran, MD.Very rude, unprofessional, cussing at me that I’m “pissing him off” because I ASKED if a breathing treatment or Steriods would help my 3 month old with her swollen air ways after he told me it was “normal” after her just having RSV, bronculitis AND croup! She was having flaring nostrils, neck breathing and her on call pediatrician told me to go in asap after a video call. I told him I should’ve went to springboro and he told me to “go on then leave no one cares” I asked if the breathing treatment or steriods would hurt and he said YES BUT OH WELL WELL DO IT ANYWAYS since you can’t go by my judgement that you came here for!!! He did NOTHING. Am I not allowed to ask questions?! Awful!!
I just want to say thank you to all the staff and Dr Gordon for taking such good care of my grandson. He is usually scared and would cry but today he had to be put to sleep for a procedure and you did so well with him he didn’t even shed a tear. I am so thankful and he is already home and doing just fine. I really appreciate you all, especially since Nana and papaw couldn’t be with him during this time. It made my heart glad to know what a great experience you allows my grandson and my kids to have. Thank you so much
Have frequently taken my son here for eye surgeries and my step son for dental work and hernia repair and everything is always clean, staff is always friendly and they was in and out in about an hour. I like how the cleaning staff always wipes down the chairs and tables.
So I’m just gonna put this out there so people don’t have to go through what we just did. My sons Gtube came out and the doctor in the emergency room didn’t even know how to put it in. So just a heads up do not bring your kids here. Apparently there hiring right off the streets now. My son will not being going back here. And I advice all of you to avoid this place. The doctors name was Dana so if you get her your in trouble. Worst experience we’ve ever had and we’ve never had a good one at this hospital in 2 years now.
I take my two year old great grandson because I’m concerned he refuses to eat anything and has constant diarrhea the doctor ordered a prescription which was not covered on Caresorce I was then told by the doctor to buy it myself funny thing is Children’s hospital has never offered me any help yet I watched them give out free new baby furniture and clothesOnce I asked for diapers and was turned awayI’m praying to find a pediatrician who takes into consideration my grandson needs help if he doesn’t eat and constantly has diarrheaI took him about three different times for this reason with no helpI’m terrified to wait any longer so I’m looking for another pediatrician
They did a good job and I was satisfied. Except for the fact when they told me How much my daughter weight, and they gave me it in another countrys method of weighing stuff . I asked so how many lbs is she and she said I dont know figure it out. That was so rude and just because I didnt go to nursing school if I ask the nurse how much she weigh she should give me the answer in lbs not km this aint Europe.
Not following guidelines on who is allowed in the room. They say only 2 people are allowed in the room with the child and it is supposed to be a parent or Gardinen. They allowed a third person that is not related to the child and then told me (step-mother) I wasn’t allowed to see my stepdaughter but allowed the mother to have a friend back there.
I am extremely UNIMPRESSED!! I brought my 2 month old in who ended up testing positive for RSV. She was not eating, having trouble breathing and puking. We were told that it’s normal and will get worse before it gets better. We brought her in the next day due to her breathing getting worse and we found out that she also had bronchiolitis and an ear infection which they missed the first day. Then we were told to just “ride the wave” and she will be fine. A few hours later we still were uncomfortable with her so to make a long story short we took her to nationwide children’s im Columbus and as soon as the check in nurses saw her they immediately put her in a room to check vitals, her heart rate and oxygen were so low they rushed us to a room to put her on a breathing mask, we are currently preparing for ICU. Dayton told us she would be fine and had we listened to them, something terrible could have happened. Please do not truth them with your kids, respectfully
Dayton Children’s Emergency room was the worst emergency we have ever been to!! They had the worst doctor on duty who instead of explaining to us what happened to our daughter, he discharged us! Can you believe it? He came in the room woke my daughter up which let me remind you she wasn’t feeling to well, woke her up just to give her apple juice and let us go without giving us an explanation on what was going on with her. They prescribed medicine without telling us how to use it. He never apologized or anything! We wasn’t nice to my daughter and didn’t make her feel better. We waited 4 long ours outside to get in a room bc they didn’t have any rooms available. I don’t recommend their Emergency for your baby!
Took my kids for covid testing today, and I gotta say even though there was a long wait it went smoothly. The guy who is directing traffic and making sure you are registered is working his butt off, probably harder working than anyone else on that campus currently. So cut him some slack and be patient people. Great job guys and gals thanks for doing what youre doing!!! Stay healthy!!!
The anxiety of my childs bloody injury was outdone by the awful experience of Dayton Childrens. Incompetence, miscommunication, attitude, manipulation, unnecessary tasks insisted on, and the silent treatment. Not to mention lack of bedside manner (except for 2-3 employees we met). The environment is not at all conducive to children. Most staff are terrible with kids. I now understand why people hate hospitals, distrust doctors, and disbelieve claims by the medical industry. Individual employees hearts may be in the right place, but the system is broken, rotten, and disgraced. Youre better off buying your own CT scan machine and x-ray. 0/5 stars.
I took my infant here on 6/11/21. She had a high fever at home almost 104, coughing and had been inconsolable for days. She hit the point where she refused and spit out any medication given...It was a Saturday so her doctor said you should definitely take her to the ER. When the nurse practitioner came in she checked my babies breathing and temperature, THATS IT! she then said we can give her tylenol which they handed to me to give her. She of course spit it all out. The practitioner then said some kids are miserable at 101 degrees I know youre concerned but we get kids with 106 degree fevers running around like nothing is wrong. She probably has a virus which I agree but they didnt test for anything including COVID. So we were discharged with no help. I received my bill and with the ER charge and the nurse practitioner charge its $520.00 for 10 min of time and a dose of tylenol that I HAD TO GIVE and she spit out. It was the worst experience at a hospital Ive ever had, no one cared enough to give my baby a covid test or look into anything past taking her temperature. Id say go somewhere else but with kids you dont get an option here.
Second time back here for head injury with my 2 yr old. Requested a CT scan of her head now(since she got out of restraints when they tried to do it last time) after we told them she would need sedated bc she is abnormally strong and! weve been sitting here for an hour! She went from acting fine to having a really high temp so brought her back in of course. So she could have a blood clot or brain bleed and taking an hr to even be seen??? This place used to be amazing, used to come here all the time with my boys who are now 15&11 and now its just disappointing. Past few times its insane the lack of urgency they have now!
Where do I start? My child was transferred here to get a gtube surgery. She got her surgery on June 16th. On June 17th she had a sleep study done. On June 18th I was told that the test came back normal and she did not have sleep apnea. On June 20th I was told she had an infection on her Gtube site and antibiotics was going to start. On June 21st I was told that she does have sleep apnea and the test wasnt normal. Today June 22nd 2 surgical residents looked at my child and both said it wasnt infected. The attending disregarded the surgical residents opinion and decided to continue with the antibiotics. After I complained about the Miss communication one of the case workers had a meeting with the attending Dr. Arya and the surgical resident. The surgical resident took back what he said about my daughter not having an infection and sided with the attending! I feel like my child is brinheld hostage!! Please do not bring your children go this hospital. I was warned and should have listened. Lesson learned! Absolutely unprofessional
Thank you for saving my babys life. Our families visit was amazing. The kindness and care given to us and our baby was so comforting. Youre team was patient, understanding, informative, warm and friendly. You helped us with the fear of our baby having surgery, comforted us and him. You kept us informed through every step. He is home, healthy and happy. You truly were a blessing to our family. The establishment, everything was clean. Easy to navigate. All staff starting the moment we walked through the door was very kind, helpful and welcoming!
I honestly think Childrens is Great when they see your children. When it comes to getting hired for employment they are not so professional. They say they dont Discriminate, That is a complete LIE! It doesnt matter how hard you work or even if the department you went for the job loves you. It dont matter the Hiring department and HR discriminate bad.
Great hospital I can recommend everyone!!! We had great experience with doctor Michael Ralston, cardiologist: sorry can’t remember her name, RN: Stephanie Sanders, Selena, Katie. nurse practitioner: Christa, PCA: Mary and child’s life (Sorry can’t remember her name) thank you everyone for everything! May God bless them all!
They keep giving me the run around about my child’s health. Lack of communication and the pr person is no better “ what do you want us to do.” You should never ask a parent with a sick child what do you want us to do how about your job. Not all of them are bad but this bunch I have had to deal with this past week is a new kind of health care! I am beyond upset! I would rather drive to Cincinnati children’s than us Dayton children’s ever again!
Been trying to get our daughter in for 2 years, Corona inhibited this for part of the time. They are refusing to see our daughter for dental work now because she is a year too old now. Unable to refer us to anyone else. Just find it tacky they wont help a little girl that was inhibited due to a medical pandemic.
When you get a referral to a Dr here you have about a 33% chance of getting a decent Dr. Ive had 6 referrals for my granddaughter and 2 of the Drs I would recommend, the other 4 were so horrible I left them bad reviews on healthgrades and found outside providers that were competent. They were rude, arrogant, and didnt listen. Dr. Bloom is awesome if you need eye care. Avoid neurology Goenka was obnoxious. I would drive to another state before Id take my child here again. I despise this place and its workers, its hands down the worst hospital Ive been to and i used to live in KY.... Being from an extremely rural area Im accustomed to sorry healthcare, but these people are the worst.
My 3 year old daughter just had her tonsils out and we had to stay the night afterwards for observation. Our nurses were very nice and helpful the day shift nurse was named amber and was very patient with our daughter who was fighting taking her medicine a lot. She even got my daughter a Snow White barbie to make her feel better. The night shift nurse was also very patient with our daughter. The food was good and all the ladies that delivered the food were very kind and polite. I had a great experience here I would recommend this hospital to others.
My special needs infant was admitted to the speciality floor. The speciality resident doctor Smith and I went over his milestones delay and she said she needed to assess him and not even a moment after I told her she either forgot or didnt listen. She sat my child up on the hospital bed, did not offer him support and she let go which caused him to fall sideways in which he hit his head on the metal bed rail and thanks to her neglect he has a neck jury. After the injury she didnt even offer support she just stood there. I had to tell her if shes not going to help then go get me somebody who will. This is unprofessional and uncalled for. Children go to doctors to fix injuries not for them to cause them.
The doctors, nurses, technicians, and the rest of titles of extremely smart and experienced minds make this hospital everything it is today. So when your child or family members suddenly need life or death help this would be the first place for the to go. They always do the best they can do. Thats been my experience. My children now have children and this will and has always been their first choice. These people are angles!
The NICU is awful. The staff is mostly awful. Go to Columbus Childrens Hospital. They dont like parents who get involved in their childrens care. They ignore concerns. They write in your chart that you wanted to sign your child out AMA or switch hospitals but not why you dont trust your child in their care. They mention child protection services but not what they are doing to correct their staff. So you look bad at your pediatrician until you explain what happened.
My son had a scheduled MRI and the staff we above and beyond. They showed him what happens and how he has to stay very still and watch a movie during the MRI. He was very nervous and they took it all away. He did great with the help of staff. We thought we would have to put him under but they gave him confidence that he could do it!! He told everyone how great his experience was and even got to talk to higher ups (hes only 6). Dayton Childrens truly cares about our kids!!!
My daughter has been a regular at Dayton Childrens for a few months now and I cant say enough wonderful things about this hospital! Every time we have to go, my daughter is excited to go. Regardless what test she has to have done or what appointment we are there for, everyone makes her visits fun and less stressful on her. We are so appreciative of all the great care she has received!I wasnt so happy with some of the care she got in ICU but the other floors were great!
My son fell out of a tree swing and landed on his arm, we took him to ER just to be safe. We were greeted by very friendly nurses and didnt wait long to be taken back to a room. The medical staff who attended to my son were wonderful, his arm was x-rayed and thankfully no fracture. So thankful for the great medical staff at Dayton Childrens hospital
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Dr Del Vecchio in the ER is the WORST doctor I have ever witnessed in my whole life. SHE IS PREJUDICE. Her lack of decent compassion, patience, and professionalism is appalling. She has the biggest attitude I ever seen on an adult. I thought maybe we caught her on a bad day or something but nope I found out a good amount of people don’t have anything good to say about her. She’s very unprofessional and honestly extremely rude. She will lie in your child’s medical records too like she lied in my daughters records. One lady who personally works with Dr Del Vecchio every day even said that Dr Del Vecchio is a mean person to the rest of the staff as well and doesn’t know how to do her job and is she is sorry for anyone who gets Dr. Del Vecchio as their child’s doctor. Maybe the rest of the staff does well at their job, I don’t know, but I do know that Dr Del Vecchio is horrible.
I remember when I am a baby Gabriel daniels gabe with wwe superstar nikki bella the bella The Bella Twins Brie bella and nikki I was born with my dad goldberg David daniels around my mom and left baby gabe with the bella twins 💖 🤩❤❤ and I have a free year old with Beyonce illuminati human cloning clone my son is so handsome ❤💖😁😁
We moved here and were nervous to see new Dr. for clubfoot care... Dr. Shank was professional, friendly, and we left crying happy tears from the good news he beared on our son’s feet!! Orthopedic dept is clean and the entire hospital is well taken care of. So happy to know they are right around the corner and offer so many services to children in need of care!
I went from second and third degree burns to being home in 5 days. I’m going in twice a week for dressing changes. Staff is always very nice and cooperative. They’re very sure to attend to the wants and needs of the patient. I couldn’t move all too well after surgery and nurses helped to reposition me and gave pain medication. From nausea episodes to removing feeding tubes, I had a very nice experience at Dayton Children’s.
We have always had to take our children here as they are kids and accident prone. They took good care of my some while we were their waiting to see if my 9 month old need throat replacement surgery. We didnt but everyone was very pleasant and caring. We were transported from our local hospital to childrens so we didnt have to wait long. The emergency room is always packed so if its not an emergency then you wait at least 2 hours to be seen.
I was very impressed with how they made both of my girls feel comfortable as they get scared when we have to go to the hospital due to our health conditions. They were fast with getting us and other patients in to be seen and very polite and attentive. They were thorough and I was very pleased, now to get the girls to feel better . Praying the meds take affect soon
Great staff and amazing facility. We came for my 3yr old and were admitted over the weekend. Free food for patient and caregivers is available, but only sugar free and diet drinks are stocked on campus. Lots of fun things for the kids to do, even those who are not able to roam around.
Please note this is not a rating based on the hospital but on the Pediatric Dentist that RENTS space from the hospital. Unfortunately Im not able to rate the Pediatric Dentist by itself since their office is located inside a hospital owned building. The staff(if youre lucky enough to get them to answer) are absolutely horrible. No customer service what so ever. The supervisor is just god awful in herself. My son is high functioning autistic and has trouble with sensory and this company, for lack of a better word, was the only place a regular dentist would recommend. Not to mention I needed 2 referrals just to take him there. I called for 6 weeks trying to get him an appointment with no success. Dont bother leaving them a voicemail they wont call back. And you had better kiss their a** if you expect them to even listen to you. We ended up having to pay out of pocket to have my sons teeth fixed at a much better dental facility. Its just a shame they make the hospital look bad since they rent their space from them. I was able to speak with an administrator at the hospital who was very helpful(thanks Kate!!). So please dont view my review as my views on the hospital because it is strictly based on the Pediatric Dentist located there.
I had two different Orthopaedic Specialty Doctors. One of them recently did a surgery on my tibia and all was fine and well. Well, here recently I got pregnant and tried to contact their office and I never got a call back even after a week. I went to the ER in my home town and was diagnosed with an infection in my leg that had moved up my thigh and had flown into my bloodstream. If i would had waited for him to call back, it would of entered my heart and brain, and would of killed me and my baby. Im currently looking for another doctor in Columbus because Dayton isnt doing a great job as of right now.
Dayton childrens has AMAZING staff ..from bloom eye doctor to the ER. thank you so much for all you do! thank you for not only taking care of my baby but how kind and patient you are in asking what and if we need anything and for always trying to be as quick as possible and explaining things to us and actually taking time to answer any questions we may have I greatly appreciate it thank you for all your hard work.
The best place to take you child! Under such hard circumstances these people did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and love our baby girl. All the nurses and doctors were kind and patient with us. As a parent you want someone to handle your child with care and love just as you would. They did just that. Extremely thorough and well educated. We had one nurse, Sarah that was a beautiful example of kindness and peace. Just adored seeing her take care of our little Eleanor. Thank you Dayton childrens for everything you did for our family.
Dayton Childrens was wonderful when we went there. Anytime you take a child to a hospital it is a rough time. The staff really made the difference with our little girl. They did everything they could to make her smile, laugh and just be comfortable. I was very happy to go here and glad to see they were updating the facility though some new construction.
The actual care from the staff was ok. Dealing with billing has been a nightmare.Took 7 weeks and 3 requests to finally get an itemized bill. When it finally arrived, it was not sealed, and had the wrong house number on it. Unable to talk to any competent staff in billing - they just push it off on other people saying we dont handle that or I can only put a request in for you. Its worth the drive to go to Liberty Childrens if you are able to.
My daughter was here in the NICU where she had an infection and did a full sepsis work up. Immediately started her on IV antibiotics before taking a culture of the infected area. Then kept wondering why the cultures wouldnt show anything. Thats the only thing that bothered me. Took very good care of her though and where very good to her and making her feel comfortable.
Been here for 2 hours in ER so far waiting on an x-ray the level of service is horrible. Got put in room and that was all maybe they should have spent less on new addition and a little on speeding up care wait time. I guess this is how they are planning on paying for new area by billing insurance for the time I sat in a room with my daughter in pain after a leg injury for 2 hours without seeing anyone.
The hospital itself is ok. Not really much of choice when you live in this area and your child needs emergency treatment. Their billing department is absolute garbage though. They sent bills, I paid them off entirely, then they say I still owe money. I call and talk to one department just to be transferred to 3 others. After having believe the bill was taken care of, I get a lovely letter from a creditor. Thanks for the surprise bill and damage to my credit. This is why (partly) people are tired of health care in America. Things need to change.
We went to their Emergency Department because my son fell and hit his head, hes learning to walk. We arrived at the Hospital at 6:13 p.m. The staff was friendly and moving but the closer to 7 (shift change) it got you could see nurses standing around not doing anything. It only got worse after that. We were there for over 3 hours not knowing if my sons injury was a concussion and terrified of letting him go to sleep. After 2 12 hours we were put in a room where we waited another 37 minutes. I stopped a nurse walking by to see what was going on, 15 minutes later I was told that a Dr has signed on to your case and is reviewing your sons file. The Dr finally made it into the room and spent approximately 9 minutes with my son and said she would give me a printout on what to watch for with a head injury. She did not verbally go over anything. To add insult to injury my insurance pats 80% of the bill but they were trying to charge me a 40% copay instead of 20%.
The staff here has been nothing but good to us. We were getting ready to head back to Arkansas when my daughter started retracting and having problems breathing. She is doing better, they have taken such great care of her and I couldnt have chosen any where else to take Her.
My nephew has been in this hospital since he was born for 7 months. He had a hole in his diaphragm. He has had numerous unnecessary surgeries and they could never figure out what was wrong or how to fix it. He had to be transferred to Cincinnati Children’s because Dayton Children’s did not know what they were doing. Cincinnati Children’s had to fix all the mistakes that Dayton Children’s made. He was there for two weeks. Cincinnati Children’s released him to go home. He was home for one day. He had a visit from home care nurses the same day. He was fine when he got home. Now due to the lack of experience or misinformation in Dayton from their home care nurses my nephew is back there. I’m very disappointed. They are taking advantage of my sister and my nephew. I’m just his aunt though so there’s not much I can do. I’m open to suggestions on how to rectify this situation. It seems as though they are trying to keep him there for their case studies because that new wing at Dayton Children’s has doctors and nurses that are learning and training but very inexperienced.
My son has been seen by the GI department since he was 4 months old. They are always quick to see us, very kind and conpassionate to him, he loves their wagons, games, and stickers. The enviroment is very kid friendly. Hes never afraid of his nurses or any procedures he has to do. Recently he began having seizures and my peditrician gave me several hospitals with good neurologist to choose from. There was no questions about it for me! We have an appointment next month at Dayton Childrens neurology.
Super awesome specialty hospital that Dayton is quite fortunate to have. I cant imagine being a nurse here and having to deal with some of the parents that many children are stuck with. This hospital is very modern and clean and I know that the staff truly care for Daytons pediatric citizenry. It is a level 2 pediatric trauma center and a fantastic NICU, among other stupendous service lines.
The Nurses are nice and at night dont make much noise if you are connected to a Picc line. I was a patient there twice because I have Cystic Fibrosis. The food there is good and child life brings a lot of activities to do. And I feel safe there even though it is in Dayton.
Childrens was great! Took a 14.5 year old to Soin first because closest which was a waste of time and money. All they did was send to Childrens for evaluation and insisted on wasteful ambulance transport. Will never take child anywhere but Childrens again. Wont make that mistake again.Childrens was great. Efficient and friendly. Performed surgery late in evening and said discharge would be next evening. Got discharged around lunch time.Great food and tons of menu options.Great experience! On the funny side, I think they ordered 10x too many exit signs. They are everywhere! Every 10 feet. Even one on the top of the pillar column in the cafeteria.... Maybe exit for flying bird? They just have has line 1000 of them and said Just put them somewhere
I have been waiting 2 weeks as of today to get my sons MRI scheduled for a tumor on his Adrenal Gland. I have called a few times this week to check in and feel as though I am being put off. I have never had this experience in the past. He has Von Hipple-Lindeu and if you know, this is sever especially dealing with the adrenal and Kidney area. Good gosh could someone please call and get this scheduled. I have never been this unhappy with Dayton Childrens.
Fantastic care! My daughter was rushed via ambulance here during an emergency. The child trauma team all jumped into action upon arrival and ensured she was well taken care of throughout. Mike the trauma RN was amazing, as was Dr. Sheth Very attentive, empathetic, and professional! Thanks all.
Came in with my 18 month old son have a 104 degree temperature. Waited around 30 minutes in the waiting room for triage. They checked his temperature at around 104(didnt say exactly temperature) then had us wait in the waiting room for another hour until we got a room. Now weve been in the room for almost two hours and there is nothing to entertain a child nor a place they can lay down peacefully. So after this time I go to a nurse who didnt even know if he had his temperature was checked after triage. So they finally checked it after I complained. Still have no idea when he will be checked. But I am curious isnt 104 temperature very high for an 18 month old? And require a bit of urgency.
The night nursing staff was disrespectful, excessive, and generally terrible. We requested cluster care for our newborn to allow her to sleep, and the day staff was great about it but the night staff did not respect our request which caused our baby to go 6 hour stretches with no sleep.
Regarding emergency room. Staff has been nice to us, and depending on the day we have been seen quickly. But i give three stars because of a number of things: limited parking near emergency, and the fact that this is a childrens hospital and does not have small children in mind as patients. The examine rooms are not childproofed or very clean. No playpens or places to put baby or toddler safely, and parents are expected to hold child still for long periods of time. Everything is set up for adult patients. So essentially there is no difference between taking your child here or the regular emergency
Horrible! They have misdiagnosed my daughter in the ER which led to a kidney infection. They had us wait over 2 hours in a room for multiple appointments for either doctor running late or doctor being ill prepared. The doctor ran the same tests as the family doctor and told me the same thing and did nothing else when the doctor who’s a specialist was supposed to figure out why my son’s blood levels were off not just dose him up and send him off 🙄
This has got to be the SLOWEST hospital. They have no sense of urgency. They don’t clean the rooms well they let a little boy with a bleeding eye sit in the waiting room for three hours. I got here at 6:20pm it’s now 10:10 pm and we still haven’t been seen by a doctor. We came in for 10 month old having difficulty breathing and a fever for 12 days. We were stuffed into a room and have been waiting for someone to come in.
Waited for 2 hours in the waiting room. People came in more then 30 minutes after us and got back to a doctor at least an hour before us. Will never come back. Went to Upper Valley Medical Center and got in immediately. Had an emergency appendectomy the following morning.
The emergency room staff (mostly nurses) seem to not be educated correctly. We frequent this hospital because of son has cystic fibrosis and often has complications due to his condition. While in the emergency room for a standard clean out of his bowel and intestines; a deep suctioning tube was mistaken for a ng tube and placed in my sons stomach. To me, that is completely unacceptable from a medical standpoint. Not to mention a nurse said to me if I could not hold down my son properly then she was going to escort me out. Definitely not a hospital I would recommend to a new parent or someone who is not comfortable being a advocate for their child.
This is a all around kids place. The staff os great. Very nice people very welcoming. This is were i bring my daughter for many things this is also one of the best hospitals in the u.s. they have free parking. A place for tue parents to relax freshen up amd even do laundry. They also host a little coffee are not in the cafeteria. When you reach a room can review youre childs charts and even help explain it to them.
Dayton Children Hospital is too expensive for basic needs. Took my daughter as a recommendation from wellness check to Dr Kalra allergy doctor, to test for food allergy. Hospital charged us about $60 for every item they tested on her arm.Insurance doesnt cover so we are paying $1200 to basically find out my daughter is allergic to fish. Not the first time we have been shocked by the prices of Dayton hospital. Please learn from my mistake dont go to DCH unless you can afford it or it is only choice for your medical needs.
My son went from the new tower in the icu to the floor. The floor is a joke, i am not impressed with this team whatsoever. Everytime i pass the nurses station they are joking and laughing looking at their cell phones while there is alarms going off in every hallway. ALWAYS hear alarms chiming and apparent little concern for these patients. The old building needs work. My room temp was chilly due to drafty windows. This is a teaching hospital but seems like most simple things have to be cleared by the doctor. Then the resident was ready to clear us for discharge after being on the floor for less than 24-hrs and the doctor corrected the resident but still.. Really?! Ive been through enough being here for a week yet lets take this time as a teaching moment. Overall the ICU was superb- timely, caring and professional (even with trainees) the floor needs restructured. Next time Ill drive to Cincinnatis location.
Our daughters operation one year ago was moved from 9 am to 5 am without our knowledge, then moved back to 2 pm due to the fact that the nurse wrongly informed us that our daughter could have a sip of water in the morning.Even after all of that I could have given a higher rating, but now we just got a call from a collections agency! Apparently despite the agreement of monthly payments (of which we have never missed), after one year all bills from this hospital go to a collection agency. So my husband just got called in the middle of his work day demanding full payment.
I will never take any of my children here again. My 17 year old son visited family in India. A few hours after his return, he had severe abdominal pain, constant bloody diarrhea, and a fever of 103. We went to see his peditrician first thing Monday morning January 7. The peditrician was so alarmed by his condition and pain she called ahead to childrens and sent us straight there. We had a short wait time but once we were in the back room we were there four hours. They did not give him real pain medication. They gave him Bentyl and Zofran. So he continued to be in severe pain. I kept asking them to help him and they said that is all they could do. HE HAD SEVERE BLOODY DIAHRREA, and no IV fluids were given and I had to ask twice before we were bought a glass of ice water. They did a stool sample and sent us home with Zofran-- anti nausea medication. He was more dehydrated than when we went in and still in severe pain. Turns out he was infected with Campylobacrter. Even the next day when they confirmed food poisnoning and called they did not prescribe antibiotic. By Wednesday I took him back to doctor because I thought he needed hospitalized and he hadnt been out of bed except to go to the bathroom. His doctor prescribed a simple Z-Pack and he was better by Thursday morning. It is common treatment for severe food poisoning to give Zpack or Cipro. They didnt give us any treatment. I also paid my $150 copay before we saw a doctor. Later I got another bill for $150 so I paid it figuring it was for something else. I just got another bill for $160. So its clear billing is unorganized. I have never seen a patient in pain and ill treated with so little compassion or concern.Dayton Childrens did contact me and I dont owe anymore money and the bills were related to outside testing and doctor bills. I still wont take my children there again.
They dont require masks. When I said I couldnt sit in a waiting room with (multiple) maskless people they said I was free to move somewhere else. When I called to complain they said they just cant do anything about it because they cant disclose peoples conditions. Be careful, this place is a public health hazard.
Nurses and doctors are always really sweet, its always younger nurses that are really sweet, they are very dedicated to helping and doing their job as best as they can. The food court is 2 star..they use to have Burger King in it, but they took it out. The fish tank in the front is pretty cool, never takes longer that suppose to., best place to take your child.
Zero stars. Unprofessional, uncaring, rude nurse. Then they wanted to take my child for an x Ray when she was there for a fever, apparently they had the wrong child. The x Ray tech asked me are you sure? When I said we werent there for an x Ray. Not to mention theyre slow. Never been so disappointed in Childrens hospital as I am now
The Dirtiest Hospital I have ever been at. The waiting room in the ER is absolutely disgusting, the floor looks as its never been mopped and the seating is sticky with filth. In exam room #26 the bed sheets was stained and has holes throughout it, gum smashed on the floor, brown dried residue along the walls and found a old pacifier, lint and hair covered beside the bed. To top it off we waited from 11pm-230am to be seen. I was afraid my baby would catch a new sickness before we left. More RNs and Janitorial Staff is a must.
I was at childrens yesterday with my 5yrold son. The nurses were unbelievably helpful and so nice. The attending physician in duty was awesome. I wish i could rememberhis name. BEST Doctor Ever! He was so caring and so good with my son ,you would of thought they knew each other. The np from the night before even came to check up on him. You guys are awesome and made him feel at ease when he wasnt feeling so good. Thank youso much!!!
Let me start with saying I am a cancer survivor of 16 years and have been coming to childrens since I have been 3 years old .But today I brought my 2 month old in because she has an upper respiratory infection (which no tests or X-rays were done to make sure that is all she has) and sever reflux .... let me add that she has already had an X-ray to check for pyloric stenosis but it runs in my family and if you do your research it develops later on in female patients....She has not had any throw up episodes in at least a month after being diagnosed with reflux and being put on medicine 3 times a day , being sat up for 30 minutes after feedings and burped every half oz. but we started noticing her projectile vomiting again for about a week now. But today she had thrown up three times in a two hour span and only had 3 bottles today compared to her normal 8-10 and has not had a wet diaper in over six hours(normally fills up diapers) or BM in two days. We waited in the emergency room for two hours while we watched every single person that came in after us get called back to a room . Being concerned that my baby is potentially dehydrated from not wanting to eat and throwing up more than taken in I proceed to ask why everyone else has been called back to a room, the nurse tells me that basically everyone else was more of an emergency than my 2 month old baby and she is in a different area of the emergency room AFTER THE FACT THAT TRIAGE NURSE TOLD US THEY WERE DISCHARGING 5 PATIENTS AND MY DAUGHTER WAS 4th TO GO BACK... AND SHE WAS THE ONLY INFANT IN THE WAITING ROOM AT THE TIME.Needless to say we left and childrens will be hearing from us . I think a two month old whom was born premature and is now only 9 lbs and possibly could be dehydrated is a bit of an emergency .And another concern of mine is that we have been in and out of childrens at least 3-4 times in the last week or so and they do no testing except once to check her blood sugar and whatever else they claimed they did. And thats when we came in the first time for her throwing up and not eating much ... they said youve already had the x ray for pylorics so we arent worried about it but know that babies develop in time and are not born with the condition and especially with females it develops later than males AND IT RUNS IN MY FAMILY. & the second time we came in was the concern of dry drowning after giving her a bath and her kicking off the end of her tub as I was rinsing her abdomin off and getting a mouth full of water and projectile vomiting from the bed into her rock and play & NOT ONE TEST WAS DONE OR EVEN AND X-RAY TO CHECK AND SEE IF SHE INHALED ANY WATER INTO HER LUNGS !!!! We come back a few days later because she had been having low grade fevers , sneezing , and coughing fits till she thrown up so her pediatrician said to take her in ASAP to get tested for whooping cough that is going around... we get there and they did the test and sends her home because they think it is just an upper respiratory infection BUT DID NO OTHER TESTS or chest X-rays . And she has been having sever throw up episodes to the point she can not breath and tenses up severely until we suction her and flip her completely over in fear of her maybe inhaling some of her throw up into her lungs and maybe getting pneumonia (rare but possible with reflux) I thought they should do some X-rays to confirm it was only upper respiratory infection . But they dont seem to do any tests to make sure of anything they diagnose.I will NOT bring her back unless I absolutely have to . I will drive Two hours to Cincinnati EVERY single time my daughter is sick .
My grandson has been in and out since both. When he was in critical, they grated him great and were very attentive. When he moved to ICU stepdown, he was ignored. Alarms going off go unattended. . very disappointed the call this a childrens hospital. The cleanliness of the hospital all laxjs something to be desired.
My 6 month old son had a fever which was probably caused by getting his sisters step throat. Was admitted into Dayton Childrens at 9:10PM and by 10:45 we had not been attended other than the initial vitals test. I asked for the nurse or doctor twice, but although we were next in line we were never attended, so we left. Noticed plenty of nurses sitting around, so it is not like they were unusually busy.Their Trauma center says that they act as urgent care and emergency room, but they bill as emergency room treatment, even if they dont treat their patients as having an emergency.
Ridiculous costs $$$ . Unless you have a cadillac health plan (AKA work for the governement) or are covered by government assistance, I would avoid this hospital. My son had a small lump removed from his arm, we were there 2-3 hours, and nearly all that time was spent waiting in a room with no staff around at all. The procedure took about 15 minutes. The bill was $4,634.69 + $212 from the first visit. We have a $5,000 deductible like most small businesses in the area so it is all coming out of pocket. It is unfathomable that such a minor procedure could possibly cost that much. I dont know how these doctors, anestheticians, executives, and insurance company employees sleep at night. They have figured out the perfect scam. Take advantage of those in need that do not have another choice! ~ at least the nurse was nice
I personally wouldnt give Dayton Childrens a one star rating but was necessary to write the review. Let me start by WARNING other parents who have children with disabilities not to bother bringing your child here. I started by bringing my son here when he was 3, he was showing autistic behavior and his pediatrician put in a referral to their psychiatric dept. I met with a woman who had me fill out a questionnaire form then did some interacting with my son, she later determined he wasnt autistic. At this point I will give you a brief run down: My son is now 5 years old, he has been diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia Of Speech, which he has attended speech therapy (EVERY WEEK) for two years. Its still not helping, he attends at Dayton Childrens Speech Therapy department, he still cannot say clear words or sentences, he babbles A LOT. Imagine being a mother and not being able to understand 95% of your childs speech. Its very rough. He also has behavioral issues, I have experienced withholding issues from him where Ive had to meet with an encopresis specialist for. The only reason ive come to this hospital for help is because I am a local Dayton resident, its the closest place I know of. I dont know where else to go or where I can turn to!!!!!!!! My son needs help, it hurts me knowing that he could be a lot further along in his development to being able to communicate and play with other children if he had been receiving proper therapy for a diagnoses that he still yet hasnt received. Now I understand autism is serious, nor would I want my son diagnosed with it if I didnt think he had it or exhibited key signs of it. I feel doctors and medical professionals have over diagnosed autism and now they just make it really difficult to get a diagnoses. Ive talked to parents that have autistic children in my sons class and they even feel he has it, they also expressed the difficulties of getting your child properly diagnosed and told me that I would have to fight for my son, that I would have to fight for it, and that I will. I will not continue to be pushed around by Dayton Childrens, because MY SON IS THE ONE SUFFERING because of their carelessness. Ive been researching other facilities that may help me with diagnosing him properly so we can get him into proper therapy.I am so livid and angry with this facility because I am a single mother who is the one with ALL the responsibility to take my son to these appointments, I cant tell you the countless appointments Ive had to just hear the same things over and over. Its taking time away from my job, which I dont get paid when I have to take off and do this, and I dont mind that at all IF we were actually getting somewhere and I was hearing new things and t he appointments didnt seem pointless. They havent given me any new info on anything, or resources or advice on what I can do where I can go, its extremely hard on my end. I am just one little person trying to do it all, Its even harder when your the parent to a child with multiple disabilities and receive no help. I work very hard to provide for my son, he means the world to me. At school he is bullied and secluded from activities, other kids dont understand him, they cannot communicate with him, he relates better to adults, he is the sweetest most caring child and I am his mother who is around him 24 hours a day 7 days a week, I know him BEST, DAYTON CHILDRENS HOSPITAL ONLY GETS TO PEER INTO A SMALL WINDOW OF OUR LIVES! They dont live it. They dont know, nor have they showed they care! Gavin, my son has been practically dismissed of the true help he needs. I also am educated enough to understand that there is no easy fix for whats going on with him, and that a diagnoses isnt the full answer to a potential recovery for my child but its a start.I took the time to write this review, out of my day because I feel its SO IMPORTANT for other parents, single mothers to be warned about DCH, we need to stick together and fight for our children because in the end we are really the only ones who do.
Kelly Lightner, CCU Nurse, Dayton Children’s Hospital is the reason my family will never take our children to this hospital. Children’s you need to hire better nurses than this. My wife is a 20 year veteran in hospital executive management for Kettering. After I told her of the interactions and her witnessing the actions of this Kelly Lightner, she cannot believe you would hire or keep employed this person at your hospital!
Dayton Childrens did a WONDERFUL job with my sons pectus excavatum procedure he had to have done. Dr Christian is an excellent surgeon and Dr and I would recommend any child that needs life saving surgery into that mans hands. And the nursing staff and the pain mgt team was very nice as well. They took very good care of my son. I hate to say it but Cincinnati childrens wanted to put him thru a bunch of unneccessary testing that he didnt need which involved 5=6 trips back down there which is 2 hours from where we live. I called Dayton Childrens and told them the necessity of the surgery to not be delayed and after I went up tp meet w Dr Christian for the consult, they scheduled his surgery like 2 weeks later and he had it done and it was awful that Cincinnati wanted to do all that junk to him and this surgery could not have been delayed any longer because his breastbone was actually pushing in his heart and causing him to have problems....Ugh on Cincinnati Ill take my child to Dayton from now on because Dayton is only 2 hours away as well. Thank you for listening to my rant but Dayton Childrens is very professional and ALL about the kids. I think Cincy is just all about the insurance money. Unfortunate to the children that have to endure all that stuff because they try to tell the parents its absolutely necessary. GO to Dayton with your kids not Cincy. And I noticed any child down here where we live that is in critical conditon from an accident or whatever, they fly the to Dayton not CIncinnati. That rite there tells you something. Much love to you and all of your family members!
Took my 8 yr old to the ER with horrible stomach pain. Waited in a room for three hours without a doctor or nurse Coming in to check on him. After waiting 3 hours, I found a nurse who told me he was next in line for an X-ray. After the X-ray we waited another hour for the doctor to come in. They are so slow. When I went to find a nurse, their were about 6 of them all sitting there playing on their phones.
Took over an hour to get triaged because of the number of people abusing the ED. Their acuity rating system needs improved. The nurse left bruises on my child, and she now has bedbug bites. The amount of money I just spent to be sure our home doesnt become infested is absurd, as is the amount of time I just poured into decontamination. I should be caring for my sick, and now injured, child; not taking care of a pest problem from a poorly managed inner-city hospital.
Its ironic that the 2nd best childrens hospital in the nation is just south of us in Cincinnati. Dayton Childrens has to be the 2nd worst in the nation. While not unique to them, its too bad that they try to over-bill and double-bill for services. Tip: make sure you review the charges with extreme detail and track everything!
I took my child there with a cough, fever and vomiting. They informed me that I should stop giving him medicine for his cough. He had already been diagnosed with acute bronchitis. Dr. Johnson told me to stop all antibiotics, cough medicine, and allergy medicine and just give him zofran. He got so bad the next day, that I had to call the paramedics for my son! I had him taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he has been diagnosed with an ear infection, a UTI (that Dr. Johnson never checked for because he did ZERO urine or blood work and claimed he didnt need to worry about a UTI because hes a boy.) We are still waiting to see if my son has a strep infection that was missed at Dayton Childrens too! After having taken my son there previously and being turn over to collections BEFORE we got a bill from the hospital and having the security team threaten me because I asked why I was not permitted to go in with my three year old for an EEG, I wouldnt recommend taking a lab rat to this hospital!
A good hospital and the doctors can be very good. That said, the billing department sucks! Constant fights, random errors, impossible to understand with the way they apply payments against oder bills not the current visit, etc. I dont think they are, but this would be a fantastic way to overbill because I dont think anyone can keep their billing straight.BTW, this is not my first review... Wonder where the last one went to...
Not to be rude, but my 16 yo brother had a swollen appendix. It was on Sunday, so they gave him morphine twice. He had to wait another day in pain to the point where the appendix bursted into pieces, so he got surgery to remove it. Then the leftover liquid infected his stomach. The service is full of excuses, and he was not taken care of well. So I would not suggest going here unless it is a broken arm, bruise, or injury.
ER good care. AHU is horrible. Let my son run fevers all night long. Had to have iv fluids d/t dehydration from fevers and nothing to drink. Addressed problems/concerns with unit manager, she didnt even follow up to make sure issue was resolved. And btw it continued our entire length of stay!!! Will go to Nationwide Childrens from here on out!!! Worth the drive for extrodinary care!!!
BEWARE: my son has been lethargic and throwing up for 4 days. I bring him into DAYTON CHILDRENS HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM only to sit for an hour. They did not do a single test on my boy! Gave him apple juice came back 5 minutes later, literally! And said since he didnt throw it up he is fine.Said if symptoms persist to follow up with his physician..Ok background my son is 1, in daycare. He throws up everything he eats for the past 4 days. No fever! But is constantly tired and not willing to play. My boy is normally full of energy. Urgent care referred us to CHILDRENS saying that they can do more for him.. i call BS on that. Not one test, didnt tell me any of his vitals didnt even check white blood cells or anything. No tests to see if he dehydrated. So now im back home with a 1 year old whom is very ill, without a single answer. Ha! This place is a joke
There is a gentleman named Shawn Ater on here writing bad reviews about Childrens Medical Center. When the facts are..... He was fired off of a Childrens Medical Center job site because he and another fella was caught up in a incident involving illegal drugs that got the police and paramedics involve. So I dont see how Childrens is in the wrong for forbidding that type of behavior on their property. I say bravo to company, the contractor and childrens for terminating them and working diligently to insure that the rest of us has a safe work environment.
We have been going to Dayton for years with little to no concern at all. My princess struggles with severe constipation. Dayton just brushed it off and said its a common thing give her miralax and move on. Well miralax wasnt helping and they did nothing. She was admitted last year for a colon clean out- when we left they put her right back on the same dose of miralax she got constipated on. They did no tests at all. They put no effort in to finding the underlying cause of the constipation. When my 4 year old screams and cries on a daily basis because her stomach hurts theres something wrong. Today was our first appointment at Cincinnati childrens and they checked her muscles to make sure they worked properly and we go back in 2 days to do a water soluble enema and xray. So they are already doing better than dayton in just 1 visit. I will never waste my time at dayton childrens again.
Charged $40,000 for a one hour dental surgery. Red flags were there pre-op when the admin demanded a $1,700 upfront copay or else they would not do the operation. When I called the billing center they were extremely rude and condescending. It is a crime what they charge knowing they are the only game in town. If we ever need another operation, we will drive the extra to go to Cincinati.
I have currently been waiting to see a doctor in the emergency and I have been waiting for 4 hours in the room and just seen the nurse and all she did was take vitals and say the dr will be in soon. This is my first bad experience but I’m really upset I have been here since 11pm especially because my daughter is wheezing and coughing.
Orthopaedic Center For Spinal and Pediatric Care in Springboro,my new born daughter was refered to dayton children Orthopaedic center for her congenital hip dysplasia. A ultrasound was done and followed up with a Dr. appointment during which she was given a pavlik harness. Pavlik Harness is a standard treatment device that has been around for decades, it made from adjustable velcro straps that keep the issued hips in frog leg position. This device has long past its patent time and could be purchased over the counter as generic product. I was billed a 262 dollar bill, an absurd amount that is equivalent to two month worth of baby forluma. i did quick search online to found out it could be purchase online for 25 dollar. I called the office manager hoping to dicuss my concern with her, however, a billing representative was ordered to return call to my voice message. They deny and unwilling to acknowledge that 262 dollar is an over charge. In the end I did get 20% discount, however, 200 dollars for the velcro strap ? really? the premium quality velcros stap got a tear when we first used on our baby. So, next time when they offer you this luxury vintage king of all velcros strap just go online purchase its cousin for 25 dollars with mannual :).
My child, Alexander, had a Do Not Rescuscitate put in his medical file without parental consent. Check the medical files regularly. Dr Patel was not Pro-living and wanted to override parent’s input. Somewhere along the line, Abby Reidel injected IV potassium into my child’s IV line that caused hyperkalemia and subsequent heart issues. He was terminal but when doctors do harm and parents have to get a restraining order—-it is sad.RIP dear Alexander. Your life is not without an impact on how hospitals treat parental rights. Shame on Kleiner, Fink, and Patel.Former Governor Kasich and the OMB, and the Joint Commission have a record of this case. Parents need to advocate for their child. I was shocked and horrified at the Kevorkian mentality.
This place has gone down hill, love the Drs but the optical shop workers are super lazy and rude. I have been trying to get my sons contacts for over 10 days now and every time my husband or I try and call, the people are rude and put us on hold for over 15 mins. I want to find a way to make a formal complaint.
I have took my daughter here twice drove over a hour to get there and was told the dr could not see my daughter well first off if there was a five min wait at the entrance and then had to wait on a elevator then I would have been on time I am over this place that is $70 in gas washed away gone for what this is bull sh*t
My son had a circumcision done their on July 5th of course after the surgery he was crabby but the next day he was his happy self and back into normal routine... We stopped giving him Tylenol and Motrin post op day 3, he was healing fine, looked good except for the extra skin u had to pull back to clean the head of the penis ( this skin should have been gone) no big deal though... post op day 7 he is supper crabby just not him self I get home from work and my husband tells me he has been crying most the evening... I change his diaper and see his penis is swollen to the point I can no longer pull the skin back to see the head of the penis, the next day we both go to work I have my sitter call if any thing changes mean while I call childrens first thing Thursday morning and tell them what going on the nurse tells me he need a to be seen that day, I call my husband who also leaves work to make the 1hr and 15min drive with us, only to get their and they dont have us as an apt it takes 20 min to get registered just to go up stairs and have the Dr. Come in pull his diaper down and tell us its pretty normal, oh and in the mean time before I picked him up from the sitters his penis started bleeding... the Dr. Would not listen to anything I had to say, sent us on our way, said see u in 2 weeks. Friday its more swollen, red, sat more swollen red warm to touch pus drains out, he pees in splurts, take home 2hrs away to Columbus Nation Wide we went to urgent care who transferred us to emergency but with it being so swollen they couldnt see the head of the penis, it was a really bad infection started us on antibiotics and will see him in a couple days to see what steps will be next... Due to the neglect of the other doctor fear of another surgery do to the skin possibly grown around the head of the penis... not only am I his mom but also a nurse I knew what I was talking about... lost hours at work 2 trips to hospital in less than 60 hours... 6 1/2 hours driving and my baby being stuck I a car seat and lots of pain thanks to childrens hospital in dayton.
My son had a 102.8 tempature hes only 4 months old, they gave him tylenol and it only brought it down to 101.8, they didnt give him antibiotics, nothing and my mom had amonia not to long ago didnt give him a chest x ray nothing, told me it was just a cold, i wont be going back their, if you could give zero stars i would.

2022-05-31Thankful for the staff at Dayton Children’s! Everyone was comforting and kind from start to finish. We visited the ER after our toddler broke out in hives. They were extremely reassuring and made our daughter feel safe and secure! Thank you so much!!

2022-06-07The doctors and surgical staff are great. However, once admitted the nursing staff was horrible. I would never feel comfortable leaving my child in their care. If your child has to stay the night, make sure someone stays to take care of them. Don’t trust the nurses to know what they’re doing or to do their job.

2022-01-27My son was referred for an occupational therapy evaluation in August 2021. The evaluator recommended once a week therapy. Months later we are still waiting for an available time slot that accommodates the fact that I work and he attends school. If you want an appointment at the Children’s Hospital, don’t expect an after school or weekend appointment. When I called to follow up on getting an appointment, I was treated as if I was somehow offending them that I needed an appointment that was convenient and reasonable.

2022-03-02If you have the option to take your child anywhere else I would highly suggest it. They are alright for specialists if you have a few months to wait for an appointment. If it’s an emergency good luck. My toddler had a fever of 104.3 and we waited in the lobby for over 45 minutes while it was still climbing.I called to see if my other child should be seen in emergency for a separate injury during rough play or if it was something that could wait over night for our pediatrician to be open and was told they can’t tell me if something was considered an emergency or not. Not all of the receptionists but a lot of the receptionists are extremely rude because they “could be Doing something better right now.”Also, separate occurrence, I had to stay here with my five day old for jaundice which itself was a complete nightmare. They used a wipe on his fresh circumcision and when I expressed that our doctor who just did the circumcision three days prior told us not to use wipes but a wet washcloth, I was told it’s standard procedure to wipe away HEALING skin, while the nurse said “pediatricians don’t know what they’re talking about when they say that.” A pediatrician, who is a professional to care for children doesn’t know what they are talking about. But the nurse who disregards a parents concern definitely knows. And after complaining about the care of my five day old child was patronized by the Lead Nurse for raising my concerns.Nothing like what an experience should be in a scary situation for not only children but parents. They could do so much better.

2022-04-15The nicu nurses are awful and uneducated except for a girl, Sidney. Rude and will leave ur baby crying unattended for hours. The doctor at his check up after discharge asked why my baby was slowly progressing. Come to find out he told the nurses to send him medicine we were never given. The emergency room staff is good.

2022-07-05Took my almost 2 year old to the ER on Friday 7/2/22. It was midnight so urgent cares were closed and she was having diarrhea, not eating or drinking much and a fever of 104. She was not dehydrated though. There was no one in the waiting room so we got a room right away but then it took over an hour and a half to see a NP (I wanna say her name was Sarah but I’m not sure). My toddler was finally sleeping and the NP came in to check her and was pushing hard on my daughters stomach. My daughter was getting fussy and mad and the NP said that made her worry that it was appendicitis since she wiggled away and was fussy. When I explained that’s just how my child reacts to being bothered when she’s asleep the NP still insisted that an IV, blood work and an ultrasound needed done. I didn’t agree and finally decided to just leave since at this point my daughter was in hysterics and inconsolable. I asked to sign the AMA form and was bullied by the nurse who said and I quote “did you just come here for Tylenol” I asked if I could just sign the paper and leave and he let me sign the paper and said he’s be right back with a copy. I was then approached by the head nurse who continued to berate me for wanting to leave. I was the. Taken back to the room where the NP came back in and basically told me if I took my daughter home she would die. We’ll it’s been 2 days now and she’s still sick but improving. I saved my child from unnecessary testing and was berated and belittled for it.

2022-05-16I was upset/crying, my bf was upset/crying, and so was my little one. how we all got treated, harassed & threatened. i recorded all of the conversations and the truth will come out. after i got home i took of her bandaids & where they did it was so bruised up. i don’t care whatever your policy is, but you do not treat a baby like that nor disrespect the parents. you work at a childrens hospital but you guys do not care about the children. you do what you want, but you’re not getting away with it this time. i repeat do not take your child here, they do not care. they only follow there policy not what’s really going on & help people. (there’s so much more but you can only write one review & i exceeded the character spaces) if you want to know more gmail me!

2018-10-26I LOOOOOOVE THIS HOSPITAL! Thus far no issues. My four year old daughter had to see the Neurologist and my one year old son had to see the Urologist. Both was successful. My son had surgery which turned out great! My daughter was found to be just fine! However, the reauested to follow up with her to be sure. They staff gave my chikdren tablets and other things to keep them busy. They took VERY good care of my children. Made them and myself feel welcome and at ease. The staff was awesome. Loving and caring. They took their time and explained things properly. Clean environment. Educational things for the kids to do while theyre there. As well as a indoor/outdoor mini park and a play ground across the street. My children left with more stuff than they came with!!! I highly recommend this hospital.
