I love this store. The location is safe, large and very open. The size .and price of the dried fruit the nuts and seeds are the best .I am into into eating healthier with an emphasis on whole foods. The store and restrooms are very clean. The staff are very friendly and profession. The provide cheerful, polite and helpful service with a smile.
I always go there to buy the strawberry cake but every time I buy it and get it home I eat a slice. Meanwhile.... I bit on something hard. I took it out of my mouth and looked at it but could not tell what it was. I even tried a magnifying glass...still did not know. I almost broke my teeth! Do the store make their own cakes in the back?
I was very appauled at the older lady with grey in her hair along with some guy occupying entertainment at self Check-out . By the door being very rude and disrespectful to paying patrons as if she didnt enjoy her job with the 4POS Systems. I6ts ridiculous! Talking about customers because you neglected the first time to help assist, with her having to come over the 2nd time with a nasty attitude. This is the exact example of how you get loyal customers to not return. Unbelievable.
This location has rotated through a few different owners, from Finast to Tops, and it was never that great, even at first with Daves. However, after writing the company about this location, I found that they took my advice to heart. They began catering more to the people in the area: retirees, families, and the large Jewish community, by offering a selection of quality products at a decent price. They also do not hire teenagers for all their staff, but rather hire folks from within the community who do a good job, and have the benefit of experience. As a result, you walk in to a grocery store run by adults. The benefit to this is a clean store thats well run and has the benefit of self-management. If you are polite when you address the staff, you get treated well, and sometimes even when youre just clearly lost or exasperated, the staff are on the ball enough to help you out with such minimal effort on their part.It makes you feel good to have stopped by and to have been a patron of their store. The staff take pride in their work and their business, because they live there, and youre a neighbor. It sounds so silly to explain it as such, but most supermarkets need to learn from this example: hire locals and more mature folks and you will get a better store. I have nothing against hiring younger people, as long as they are willing to learn. If this store doesnt pay a living wage, and give good benefits, I would be surprised.
The store is the largest in the area and has a decent selection, though the quality of the meat and produce is sometimes less than I would like. (too close to expiration date). Also the store smells bad periodically, especially in the summer. I am not saying it is not clean, just that the odor from the meat department makes it smell unclean at times. It is that bleach and old meat smell. My grandfather ran a meat market when I was a child and it is a very familiar smell to me. Like I said, it may not bother some, and I am not saying the meat dept. is dirty, just that you can smell it at the front of the store on warm days and that should not happen in a major food chain.
Deli meat department do not understand you can go there around 1:pm in the afternoon Catfish is a big sale but why are they always out? Five people behind the counter but they all ignoring you one lady even talk to me with her back turn. However I give the guy in the parking lot five stars hands down he immediately speak to you with a smile even regonize I I had a fresh haircut I was impress 😂 thank you, you deserve a raise keep up the good work.
This is one of my favorite and most often visited Daves. The customer service is always friendly and professional.I want to encourage you to stop by the deli department and purchase a few slices of honey maple Turkey, next, visit the salad bar for lettuce and tomatos, than stop by the bakery and grab a fresh bagel. This makes a nice and affordable lunch or snack.
The only problem my husband and i is with the floor crew the have absolutely no consideration for us customers. They are very rude and will not answer your questions. I really enjoy shopping at Daves its covenant because its across the road my grandbabies and i can walk there at severance center in Cleveland Heights. Your deli is awesome especially the workers your bakery and workers are wonderful and the cashiers are so friendly and attentive but the people that runs thr floor is just disrespectful. I have stopped my 70 year old aunt from going in wiyh me because im afraid of what she my tell them where to go because she was coming home in tears. Dont get me wrong i love Daves but the people thats a different story.
Its not Publix. It was well stocked, though. I dont recall seeing any employees in the isles or conversing with customers. There seems to be a limited selection of quality supermarkets in Cleveland, East Cleveland or Cleveland Heights and this is the go to other than the Walmart that opened not too long ago. The cashier was very personable.
This one is pretty big. Some things are cheaper others more expensive but thats how all grocery stores work. They have clearance which I am always fond of. They have a lot of choice. I was a bit disappointed with the bakery so that would be my main complaint. Cakes were smooshed or not completely frosted. Lots of meat and fish choice and a well sized produce section. It wasnt close to my favorite grocery store but it has a lot to offer
So nothing bad or good to say i mean its a clean store. Nice people many different selctions. Only issue i have is the prices i mean to be honest its expensive AF. I would rather go to giant eagle if i am going to spend extra money . To be honest the store isnt bad its juat pricy although at times you can save $5 on your next time there i think after you spend maybe 20 or 25$ yoh get a $5off coupon so thats cool.
Best thing about this store is the early opening and late closing hours. Otherwise, rude, slow service with an attitude is the order of the day. Parking lot needs major work. I only shop here when desperate. There is a negativity about this store...maybe the heavy state store traffic?
Worst customer service I’ve ever seen. it’s right by my house but I try not to go because it puts my in a bad mood every time I come. The staff are rude and instead of telling me what my total is they sit there and text waiting for me to swipe my card. I’ve never been greeted or even spoken to by any cashier I’ve ever had
All the workers are very angry. Its like going to the saddest place suburban place on earth, for grocery shopping (this does not include the pharmacy ladies - theyre pretty much always kind). If you dont care about customer service,HOWEVER, the store has a pretty decent selection and is very clean.I very much prefer the one located on West 25th Street.
The lazy blonde meat department woman needs to listen to her customers. Yesterday was the second time I asked her for the Italian spicy ground pork. The first time I asked her she pointed at the Daves Italian sausages and told me to just buy those and grind them up. Yesterday when I was in there I asked another meat department attendant and he went and asked her and she then told me its all the way on the end.It was the Bob Evans brand spicy Italian ground pork. Why is she even there?
Poor MGMT at this store. I waited over 15 minutes at customer service on Friday evening. Only one person assisting customers with 8-10 other ppl waiting. Also over priced on blueberries. I paid $4.00 for 6 oz. Marcs had blueberries - 1 pint for $2.99. I only went to Daves bcs I was passing it on the way home. This is the second time customer service only has one person working and the line is long. Obviously, MGMT. doesnt monitor the traffic, cashier lines or they dont care.
👍Daves is in my neighbourhood, and I often grab my backpack and go there on foot just for the sake of walking couple miles.Good bakery smells of bread. Due to having butchers, meat department has good assortment of beef, pork, veal and lamb, and if you are on a budget , you may always hunt for manager price ( which is reduced ) or sales. Among prepacked chicken produce I favour Fryer chicken items which are lean and cheap. And they carry a lot of nontraditional meat items like beef tongues and beef and pork feet. Dely section carry a lot of salads, cheeses and hams. My favourite is Boar Head produce, because its all natural. As for froot and vegetables -they are good, but what I like about this store is that due to their connection to locals farmers during summer and fall they sell a lot of vegetables and and apples locally grown just for 99 c./lb. Ofcourse there are more to this store, but I mentioned only part of it.
They posted Gatorade 4 for $5 get to the register they charged me full price then they said that kind that I got wasnt the one that was on sale it was only some selected ones that they wanted to get rid of was on sale why even post it they should have put it on a whole different now what front or something SMH
The Maneager and Supervisor of this store location need to regulate and implement a crash course on customer relations and how to properly answe anyr questions asked when aproached by a Customer...i was looking for coffee filters and aproached a cashier, since there was no one around i decided to take 10 seconds of her not so bussy job (seing as she had no customers at that time) and i asked do you know were the coffee filters are located?(the only answer needed is isle ___ NOT Next to the coffee...i had to shrug my shoulders and ask ok, were is that at? As she proceeded with the same blank/anoyed/smartass stare to direct me to isle 8...were i walked to, found no coffe or filters and decided to bother another much buissier employee and he litteraly WALKED me over to the proper area...if im not mistaken is in isle 12...and i dont even WORK there and i remember...have to remember just incase i do decide to go back there shoping seing as other stores offer .79 cent tuna in water and here they are 1.20 each...about a .50 cent difference...get your customer relations in chek with ALL departments in this location...just because you are cashier does not mean you ahould not know what products are in stock or where an item may be located...all employees should have proper communication skills and a bit of 101 in common sense when speaking skills with a paying customer..maybe a grandma with a belt to whip some respect into these people...and to think the lady was an older one...needs a lesson in manners!!! Just because you are older does not give one the right to act like a biggot!
Worst experience , All the people are shopping but he came to me and said not allowed to shop after 9 , I asked why , he said the store was closed I am not allowed , In the website they mentioned it was open till 10and I was there by 9.03 . I don’t know the reason but worst experience . They employee said I can shop but the guy said I am the manager They should listen to him ..
Daves is the Winn-Dixie of Cleveland grocery stores (any Southerners out there know what that means): the store is not the cleanest and the prices are not the best. Of course, exceptions to that general rule can be found in the beer aisle and the bakery, and to a lesser extent in the produce aisle. Pretty much the only reason I shop here is that it also happens to house a state liquor agency. For most of your food needs youd be better off going to Target or Gordon, or even Heinens (where the atmosphere means you at least feel good while you spend too much money on groceries).

2021-12-12Very disappointed that they have signs for sales all over rhe store they wont honor. Twice in last 2 weeks they denied the sale price on pizza once , ice cream on another. The ice rean was told sale was over and she ripped down the sign in front of me, the next day they had the signs back up. Manager was very rude when I asked about the sale, she thought I should have had common sense knowing it was not gonna happen or something. Very rude. Have begun shopping elsewhere since the second time when the same thing happened with pizza, she asked a worker if they were on sale and they said no. Didnt even check the signs.Im a bargain shopper and rather embarrassing to go to the line and have to beg to honor your advertised sale.Think your store manager needs to get on something or be replaced if this is how he wants to run the show.I will do my shopping elsewhere unless its a super need. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone that looks for sales. They wont be honored.

2021-02-22Daves Market always has fresh food and well stocked shelves in a very clean market. The staff is always helpful and their cashiers are always smiling. We are so thankful to have them in our community!

2021-05-11Never Again. Horrible customer service period. No cashier seem to want to check out customers, they primary job. I was complaining about my cashier, going extremely slow, like me being there to pay for my groceries was an inconvenience to him, while another customer was complaining that the cashier was just throwing their groceries. Been there before, at Daves Supermarket. I make the long drive elsewhere .

2020-06-01Store closed at 6:00 instead of 9:00 which is what you hear when you call the store. At 5:35, I was snarkily told that the deli closes at 6:00. When I said its not 6:00, I was told in a nasty tone they were closed. I moved on to the frozen fish but was still able to hear this same clerk rudely tell 3 more people the deli was closed.I understand why the store closed early but maybe they should change their recording to reflect those hours. Definitely, customers should be told in a respectful tone.

2019-01-22Daves is a good locally owned supermarket. Produce is usually good quality and a wide selection. The bakery is also good. Prices are very reasonable. Its not my first stop for groceries but its a good alternative, especially if you need something quick. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Just be careful of idiots in the parking lot. The lines are old and faded and too many drivers seem to take this as an invitation to park however the heck they want.

2020-12-16Watch out if you have to redeem that $5 off coupon that Daves offers. Apparently Daves forgot to train their cashiers as to what it means. I did my grocery shopping on Tuesday the 15th, and had to remind the cashier to scan the darn coupon. Not once but twice. She finally did scan it, after the second reminder. What does she think the $5 coupon is, a tip? Argh. I am very disappointed. Terminal #8 at 3 pm on December 15. Will most likely quit shopping at Daves altogether. Because whats the point of being a loyal customer and getting this kind of a treatment.
