I like it because its walkable and convenient. They have good produce and generally everything I need. Prices are high for certain essentials like cleaning supplies, but its fine for general groceries. They used to be very low staffed the and the self checkout lanes were awful, but it seems to have improved in the past couple of years.
Looks good and everything is fine but, almost every time, something is marked up at the cash register. When you point that out, they behave like you were caught shoplifting even though they have already charged you at least twice. When they then grudgingly say, Not that I dont trust but can you point me where? please non-grudgingly tell them, Not that I think you are thieves, but it I will show you the way..
I usually stop at Daves for some groceries and alcohol...but everytime I come to Daves they always give me a hard time about getting some quarters for the laundry. I get it, theyre not a bank, but I have been getting quarters from Daves since 2017! Laundry is not cheap over here and we dont have access to a bank 24/7. They fail when I need them the most. And every time I send my partner they note that the staff is not friendly. I dont even have to go there to know that.
What can I say, it is indeed my favorite neighborhood grocery store! The items are the not the cheapest compared to the other chains but the quality is always good. This place is having good access from Cedar directly or from the North Park road which is less than half a mile.If you want a quick stop shopping while you are rushing back to home from work or if you want to grab something really quick, I would definitely recommend this place.Their bread and dairy products are good and you should definitely check out their cakes and other bakery items. They are awesome. I have purchased a dozen cakes from here for birthday parties.I hope this place continue to be like this! 🤞🏼
Awesome sandwiches and deli. The tables in the back and sidewalk make this place a good casual date restaurant. Groceries are a little overpriced for my regular grocery shopping, but the convenience of this location is great if I need to grab one or two things in a pinch.
For a small neighborhood store, this is a pretty amazing place. Fresh produce, an excellent beer and wine section, and solid meat department make this my go-to. I can do my weekly shopping and be in and out in 20 minutes. A fine selection of gourmet items as well. This small packs a big punch for its conveniently small footprint.
I dont know what made Daves meats and cheeses share the same cost, but...dayyyy yaaam! I was under the impression that this was like Kroger or Meijer, not like Cameron Mitchells private deli. I guess in all fairness I should tell you that the quality of the meats and cheeses I took home was excellent. Just didnt know that pepper jack cheese cost the same as baby swiss cheese or turkey breast. Well save that for another time.
The store has a nice selection, and the staff are polite, but those looking for an everything-mart shouldnt be shopping here. Its mostly a convenience for college students like me who cant afford a car, as despite acceptable prices, its more of a medium than a full-size market.
Has everything I need at decent prices. The produce is usually fresh and cheap, and there are a ton of Italian foods, Mexican, thai, etc. Deli has great selection but could be cheaper. Helpful parking lot staff to unload cart. Several uncomfortable checkout experiences though, with workers bickering with their managers, slow checkouts, and confusion about pricing. Really wish the workers had better morale.
This supermarket has good produce and a good delli. The prices are competitive. There is a good selection of wines and other liquor but they do not sell hard liquor. The sushi offered is supermarket quality.Bread and baked delicacies are easy to find.Occasionally the main server does not keep up with the sale prices as shown on display and more than once I had to take the employee to the rack to confirm the sale price. I usually now take a digital pic to prove my assertion about this. A problem that I have also encountered in other places.
This is the cleanest, most organized Daves Ive been in. Their selection at this location is much greater than other Daves locations. (This was written before the new Daves opened up on Chester near E. 55th, which is definitely the nicest Daves now. Im just wondering how long it will take for it to go down hill)
Its nice to have a grocery store in the pedestrian friendly part of the neighborhood. The actual store is just okay. The produce department could use some sprucing up. They have a nice selection of local items, which was nice. I find the layout of the store very confusing. The bread area is hidden and the general order is not cohesive. If this Daves updated like the one in Ohio City that would be fantastic!
1 star for convenience. Be careful what you are buying from the dairy section. I bought onion dip today (2018.9.9) and I was in a rush and did not look at the expiration. As it turns out, the onion dip expired on 2018.9.5. 4 days after they sold it. I asked around the neighborhood and it turns out that this is common practice from Daves market.Be careful and watch what you buy!
Good place to stop and get most of what you need. Great prices on fruit and vegetables, but no store brand on most items means you have to buy brand for most things. Open late, which is great. Not as big so they dont have everything you might need, but they have most.
Grocery shopping in the Heights is never complete without multiple shops here in there and Daves market is one of the critical ones. Otherwise I dont really know how to review a grocery store. Heres a tip though: when youre leaving if you need to head right on cedar, you have to make your turn onto cedar and floor it as soon as the light turns green or youll be sitting at Fairmount and Cedar, not even a block away, for a hot minute.
Daves usually has fresh produce and the essentials you need for your pantry. Got place for a quick stop to pick up a few things before dinner. Keep in mind though, some of their products are pricier than other markets but take advantage of their sales, those are good.
People are friendly, clean store, good selection of food, the one thing they lack is the savings, no house brands. many of meats are over priced and the food items are also over priced for a Daves market. Your better off going to ALDIS or Marcs. but for convenience and it is a 15 minute walk from home I give it 3 stars
A small grocery store with overpriced items in Cleveland Heights. The selection here is fairly limited and the prices are much higher than at other similar stores (such as Aldi). However, the staff are friendly, and if you need something in a hurry, you can get it here. Id recommend shopping elsewhere to save on grocery bills, but this is an alright place in a pinch.
One of the oldest Daves buildings in the city. The former privately-owned grocery store used to cater to its neighbors. Now it stocks items primarily for college students in the area. Many locals skip past Daves and go to another neighborhood store Zagaras which appreciates long term residents and has higher end offerings
Cleveland Hts. needs to let Daves build a modern store there at some point. Daves is doing the best they can at this small location. A modern store would make a huge difference at this location. Cmon C.H., get your head out of your posterior & let that old building be replaced.
Extremely rude employee encounter July 4th.Never have I met such a rude unprofessional employee. I have been, well was, a regular customer at Daves. On July 4th 2016 I was waiting in the parking lot with my brother so my friends could finish checking out. We were waiting in a spot that technically wasnt a spot (But not obstructing anyone) and was told to move which is totally fine and understandable. We politely asked to wait one more minute for my friend and instead politely saying no, in which case we would have gladly moved because its really no big deal, this young lady immediately become hostile and threatened to call the police. Youd think, based on that type of a reaction, we were trying to rob her or something. I have never been treated so rudely. I highly doubt I or any of my friends will return. I had no issue moving whatsoever and was very respectful when asking. I could not believe how rude she was. My biggest regret is not going straight to the manager because if this employee continues to treat customers this way they wont have any business. I just hope this review is read by management. It was totally unprofessional and showed no class hence why I am writing my first review.
Daves is nice if you need to get dinner for that night quickly, but they are certainly not a full grocery store. More out there items like certain fresh herbs and spices, you will not find. Their international selection is fairly lackluster. Prices are reasonable, but you are not going to get the deals you get at Giant Eagle. The staff is young and fairly inattentive at times, and good luck finding someone to direct you to a product. Also, good luck getting avacadoes ever. Like I said, great in a pinch, but will probably find myself shopping there less once I move.
Overpriced local chain with very few selections and not very fresh produce. They do have a beer/wine section - its ok for beer but terrible for wine. Its clearly meant to cater to the CWRU undergrad crowd, who have limited options and access to parental funds. Check-out lines can be maddeningly slow.
2 words: SOVIET SAFEWAY. Dave’s with inferior products at high prices. Why doesn’t cleveland Heights encourage a better retailer like Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods? Location near hospitals and university circle is amazing. Short sighted policy keeps inferior shopping experience ensconced. Corruption kills

2022-04-02Just too expensive for certain things. I do love the black and white cookies they have. They have good cheese there. It wouldnt be my go to store. But if you need something quick, itll do just be prepared to pay more.

2022-06-05This store is always clean, cool and fairly well stocked. It is within walking distance to my home.It has a fair selection of gluten free and vegan food options. There is a gluten free section but there are also plenty of vegan and gluten-free goods located throughout the store. Gluten free soy sauce is with all the other soy sauces, regular and gluten-free canned soups are together, etc.For me it ranks between 4 and 5 on any given day. Mainly based on ingredient availability the day I frequent the store. Today was lovely because the fresh ginger was in stock and high quality. There was also a complimentary ready-made cocktail tasting that put a smile on my face. I happened to notice they were out of bulk shiitake mushrooms, which I usually grab if available. There were not a lot of goods on the clearance fruit and vegetable stand today. There was some lettuce and chopped bell peppers. I managed to snag some discounted pre-cut apples. Usually they have a fair amount of gluten free frozen dinner options but they are priced on the higher end. There are currently a lot of sales… even on some items in the gluten free section.

2022-06-15If you enjoy your weekly bottle of wine be careful because a certain employee will shame you at the register for buying booze fairly often. Unfortunate that I live nearby and this is my go-to grocery store.

2022-06-11Nice super market. You can buy most of the daily groceries here except for the Indian food items like Atta, Rice, Pulses and so.

2022-01-04I think the cool thing about Daves Supermarket is they are all slightly different. This store is located in an old English looking building. The bakery is a but small but good stuff can still be found.

2021-11-17Great little neighborhood market: Compact enough to get in and out quickly, but large enough to have anything you might need. The staff is friendly and helpful, and it seems to be a remarkably well-run store.(Its nothing at all like the Daves in Severance Circle, in case youve had a negative experience there and are wary.)Recommended!
