Our refrigerator compressor died, instead of trying to find a new one we called Daves repair and they sent out Thomas. He was on time, fixed our fridge and was extremely nice. I enjoyed talking with him and enjoy my fridge working again! Great service on the phone as well. I would highly recommend them.
From Barb who took my call to Shawn who made the repair, I was impressed by how professional and polite this company was. Shawn was very thorough, answered all my questions and even rerouted my dishwasher hose so that we wouldnt have trouble in the future. I would highly recommend this company to my friends and family.
Pete, the service tech was right on time, went directly to work on the dryer and had it up and running in 30-45 minutes. Highly recommend Dave Smith Appliance Service for coming to the rescue! They were who Frigidaire connected us with for some unexpected warranty repairs. After a couple warranty visits, they determined the refrigerator is not fixable. Even though they were not able to fix it, they made working through the warranty process a breeze. All of the office ladies Ive worked with are awesome, as well as the repair technicians! They are all very pleasant, professional, and timely. We will certainly be using Dave Smith Appliance Service for all of our future appliance repair needs!
Thank you for a great experience. We had a sewer back up in the basement and needed to have our washer and dryer checked to make sure they were clean and safe to use. Dave Smith Appliance made a tough time so much easier. Everyone was so kind and helpful from the people who answer the phones and arrange the visit to the repair person (Mitchell). I 100% will use your company again.
John came to our house to fix our broken refrigerator. He was very honest and upfront with us, gave us recommendations, and was very polite and professional. John fixed our problem quickly and even gave us advice on future appliance purchases. Will definitely do business with Dave Smith again.
I called looking for parts for my Frigidaire freezer and spoke with Pat. Unfortunately they didnt have the part and werent able to locate locally for me either. But he not only spent about 5 minutes looking for anyone who carried it, he DID steer me to another place that did show to have item in stock. I appreciate the GREAT customer service that I received, and will not only recommend them, but use them myself for next parts or service I need.
Their repairman systematically diagnosed the cause of the problem (dryer turning on, but drum not rotating or heater coming on) as a failed thermal cutoff. Ordered the replacement parts. Advised us on things to do to reduce the chance of this recurring. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The price was reasonable, and we would not hesitate to recommend them.
I called Dave Smith’s Appliance repair. They let me know the charge for coming out. I also let them know that my fridge was not getting cold and the fan would need to be replaced. I have them the model number and asked if the technician would have the part available. They said that they would have the part with them.When the tech arrived he diagnosed the fan as bad. (Yep I told them that) he said he did not have a part. It would take a week to order. And I would be billed a second trip charge.I said not thanks. And called another company that ordered the part and brought it with them the first time as requested.Your word was not good. It’s too bad because I was hoping to find decent service for my rental properties.
Very disappointed with the repair person, he was rude and unprofessional toward my wife after asking for a 100 dollar service fee even when our product was under warranty. I wasnt home at the time, however the repair guy had a Tone and attitude with my wife which made her feel very uncomfortable after she tried explaining to him that our first home warranty covered the warranty and was supposed to be communicated between them and GE.
Work is excellant. Pete is an expert always on time and a nice person. Ive had my refridgerator gasket/door seals replaced 3 times. The first two were Sears. This time Pete did them, he heated up the gaskets to get a good seal and explained to try not to open for about an hour. Never has that been done! Best sealing door gaskets now amazing difference. Thats an Expert.
The repairman was quick and helpful. He attempted the least expensive fix first and was very insightful. He did arrive an hour past the 3 hour window that was given us, otherwise I would have given this company 5 stars. I will definitely give Dave Smith Appliance a call the next time I need one of my appliances repaired.
I was really impressed with this company. Nick was on time, wore a mask the whole time, and was very professional. He found the problem with our fridge/ freezer very quickly and fixed it right away. He moved our fridge out of its normal space and let me sweep and mop the area after he offered to shop vac the area. I was really impressed with this experience and will definitely use them again in the future!
Every once in awhile you encounter a service business that combines the qualities of professionalism, honesty, punctuality, knowledge, and outstanding customer service--and Dave Smith Appliance is one of those businesses. We have had a few problems with our new Whirlpool refrigerator, and Dave Smiths company has addressed each of these issues with: a) quick response to email inquiries--often answered by the owner himself; b) service appointments scheduled promptly; c) skilled, well trained technicians who properly diagnoses and resolve problems. Example 1: One technician determined from his research that even though my refrigerator had been recently built, the company had already updated its control box; thus he ordered one under warranty for installation. Example 2: I emailed Dave (owner) to ask whether the cold spot in the top center of my refrigerator (which was freezing vinegar and water bottles) was expectable since the air control valve was there. Most repair shops would have said yes to avoid a warranty service call. However, Dave was most concerned with making sure that everything was just right, and said that he would be glad to send a technician out. In sum, I highly recommend Dave Smith Appliance Services.
We had Dave Smith Appliance Service out to repair our ice maker. Parts had to be ordered for repair. Within two days the installation of replacement parts was rescheduled. The service man was very polite. Put cloth boots over his shoe when he arrive. Very efficient in determining what was wrong. I was really impressed.
Saturday morning we noticed the freezer items were starting to defrost. Sure enough, everything was melting and something was wrong. We immediately loaded up coolers with ice and salvaged what food items we could. We didnt know who to call for service so, decided to look online. We noticed Dave Smith Appliance Services had a high review rating so we gave them a call. Not only were they friendly, they even called us right back after checking with techs in our area. The service tech (Michael) arrived as promised; provided us with an acceptable estimate; repaired the unit quickly without any long delays! We are thoroughly pleased & overjoyed with satisfaction! Finally, a company in Toledo who actually cares about their customers! Were sold and will always contact Dave Smith Appliance Services! Thanks for a great job!
Professional and courteous service was my experience with Dave Smith Appliance Services. My dishwasher was experiencing an intermittent problem which is the most difficult type of problem to solve. But my dishwasher is working great after my technician diagnosed and repaired the problem.
Dave Smith Appliance Services has recently completed the repair of my eighteen year old GE refrigerator. I am impressed with the display of concern for clients by all members of the staff that I dealt with. For me, it has been a very satisfactory experience.They responded immediately to my call and followed up with a detailed, well explained plan to deal with my problem. The technician arrived at the exact time of the appointment and within a short time completed his inspection and presented an estimate of the cost to repair my appliance.The estimate was fair and reasonable and proceeded to complete the repair. The area under the refrigerator had not been cleaned for quite some time because its heavy and I havent been able to move it. He patiently waited while I cleaned it before he put it back place.From the beginning to end, every action on the part of this company has been the utmost in cooperation and professionalism. I do not hesitate to recommend them. It has been a pleasure to deal with such trustworthy and capable professionals.

We had the unfortunate experience of our refrigerator completely stop working... I contemplated going out and purchasing a new one when a friend of mine referred me to Dave Smith Appliance. They were very kind and courteous and professional. The one thing I found to be most helpful is they actually showed up when they said they were going to... both visits! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable and fair company for appliance repair. Thanks Dave for saving me money with the repair (rather than going out and purchasing a new refrigerator). We will definitely be contacting you the next time we need your services.
RIP off! They charged me more than a $100 more then anyone else around town to fix my washer. We called them to fix our washing machine. It needed a new seal. We asked them to give us a price over the phone and come with the part in hand since that was the issue. They couldnt give me their Flat Fee cost to do the work over the phone. Wrong they knew...They charge a $89 service call for coming out to give me the price when they new exactly what was wrong. He had quote in hand before he looked at anything. At that point they had the part in hand told me it was $100 more than what I found it online for and ask if I still wanted the washer fixed. If not, I still had to pay for atleast the service call. When they could have told me that over the phone. Be HONEST and dont take advantage of people. So wrong nothing like being up front with your customers. Dont use these people unless you want to be over charged and lied to!!
Needed a part for my dryer; their price was a little higher than online, but once shipping was factored in they were competitive. Parts showed up in 1 day and everyone I dealt with on the phone and in office was very nice. Will be using them for any other parts in the future!
My dryer stopped heating clothes. To save possible expenses, I called Dave Smith Appliances. I was told the cost of the initial visit, and if it needed more repair, parts were in the truck. Well the serviceman took $74 (regular $89) because of some food charity they have going on. Nothing was fixed! He said the dryer part was expensive to fix and he couldnt do anything else. What a rip off! I could have used that towards another dryer. On top of it all, I still have no working dryer. I am so angry how unprofessional this place is. Its like throwing $74 on the sidewalk for free. The serviceman told me he didnt trust Sears or Ebay (they may sell a bad part). Well I sure dont trust Dave Smith Appliance Services either after this. Thanks for nothing. UPDATE** How did I refuse a quote??!! I was trying to get any quote because I wanted it fixed right away! Please dont make lies against me. He said the part was expensive and that I would have to search myself which I did. He showed me a quote from some site but that was all. And I even called your place and you dont carry the part. But dont say I refused a quote. I even asked him if he would fix it and he said he couldnt. Please be careful in your replies. And $74 was way too much. New Update...Got a new dryer at another store and paid for warranty with all parts included. Worth It then being told hey its $74 and nothing fixed! 😲
We have had nothing but good experience with Dave Smith. At some point over the years, they have repaired every appliance we own. Today was no exception. The young man, John, was pleasant and businesslike. We were given a time slot of 10 to 1pm. He was here at 10:08. Your magnet is front and center on my fridge.
I didnt get past the stage of talking to the receptionist. Being told it would be $80 to cover travel time to my house, Im wondering if the business is located in Gary Indiana? I live in Toledo and you are a Toledo business, to charge $80 to cover travel expenses is really above and beyond the realm of greedy. Thanks but no thanks.In response to your cost of doing business argument, why dont you charge by the hour? I dont need a certified technician to tell me that two springs are broken, I need someone to replace the springs. I dont pay my mechanic an $80 fee just to provide a technician. I pay my mechanic based on cost of parts and cost of labor. So what youre really doing is overcharging the customer.
Over the last week, I have been experiencing problems with both my fridge and freezer and it was recommended that I contact this company. From scheduling the appointment with Judy and DuShon arriving for service, I couldnt be more pleased. Both very professional, and concerned about my problems. DuShon was very personable, allowing me to ask questions and didnt seem put off by answering them. He informed me about what he believed to be the problem, gave me a quote and didnt force the repair on me. I like that he gave me cleaning/maintenance tips and wasnt here just to sell me a part. I would highly recommend this company!
John came to our house and he and his partner were amazing. They were polite, well versed in their knowledge of the problem with my washer and gave me a couple of options. I really appreciate them and would highly recommend them. If I have any other problems, I will call Daves Services.
Weve used this company for our fridge, dishwasher and microwave. They have always been pleasant, punctual and fair. Repairmen have been honest about the cost of repair vs replacing. Additionally, you get 10$ off your bill if you give them 3 canned goods for donation to local food banks.
Very rude customer service. They are trying to schedule a time to come to my house to fix an appliance. They are getting paid and refuse to come after 4 or on Sat when someone will be home. People work! Barb hung up on me when I tried explaining I have to work at the time frame they set which is a four hour block. Very unaccommodating and dont care about the customer. Find someplace else!Response to DaveIf Barb had not been so rude or told me to call whirlpool and figure it out it might have gone different! Maybe if she hadnt hung up on me the first time when I was being polite and trying to explain our work schedules and the company we have the dryer through said to you to please accommodate our schedule I might not have used the F bomb with your very unprofessional and rude customer service representative. People do work and just cant drop their schedule without making arrangements and for Barb to say we will be out tomorrow between 9 and 12 without asking me if it is alright is also unprofessional. Before you check me maybe you need to talk to Barb or just fire her. Perhaps you should have called the upset customer to hear their side. Hope your business goes bankrupt!
I was so happy and impressed with Dave Smith appliance. They went above and beyond to find a part for my stove. One that was not due to be delivered until after Christmas. Their tech John was so respectful of me and my home. He got the job done in no time. Thank you John I give you 6 out of 5 stars! I have family coming in for the holidays and I planned to do all the cooking. Thanks to Dave Smith and his team I Will be cooking for my family! Thank you so very much for making it happen! Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Lowes sent us to you to have our washer fixed which was under warranty. After your company decided my HOME is a commercial business(which is false) Whirlpool decided to void my warranty and now I have to go through the steps taken to get a 2nd opinion. I work, I have a family, I just wanted my 4 month old malfunctioning washer fixed but thanks to you I have to wait even longer to get it fixed. Not only that but your technician/people answering your phone system lied to Whirlpool and said my dog chewed my washer after your company ordered the parts and scheduled to come back and fix my washer.. Dont you think if my dog chewed my washer that would have been discussed before you ordered the part to fix it? After trying to resolve these issues I realized the people you have answering your phones/your company have zero customer service skills and I will never recommend your company to anyone.
I would never use this company to fix anything. 1st service tech said I have a clogged drain line from the dishwasher to disposal. I had already cleaned it out. 2nd service tech said I had a bad drain pump. $340 to repair. I bought a $60 dollar part and replaced my self. Gee Guess What? That didnt work either. Terrible service diagnostics to get you to repair something thats not the problem.
My dryer was running but not heating up. I thought it was the igniter and took it to the store. They tested it and said it was still good. I scheduled a service call to find the part that wasnt working. I left the face off the dryer and needed them to put the igniter back in as well as the fix. The service call was $89. The part that needed replaced was a thermostat that I found online anywhere from $10-$30 depending on the model. The whole job took 20 minutes, and yet they charged me $216. What was the other $90 or so for? I assume to put a piece back on I had taken off and put the face back on the dryer. Bit expensive for 10 minutes of extra work. However the dryer is heating up so the job was completed. Expensive when the I could have bought a used dryer that worked for less than that.
Dave Smith Appliance Services scheduled my appointment for the next day. The scheduler was friendly and provided me with several choices for appointment time. The serviceman was prompt, called to give me a 10 minute heads-up on his arrival and quickly assessed the problem. The serviceman thoroughly explained the problem.The service call was reasonable and goes towards fixing the problem. I highly recommend Dave Smith Appliance Service.
Im not sure which is more shocking; charging 2-6 times retail for an OEM part or one grown man chastising another like a child for needing to purchase said part. I would like to say its an isolated incident but, the gentleman that I have encountered several times now is quite rude. Will be my last patronage. Next time I will take whatever time is necessary to acquire a part from a more reputable and respectful dealer.
Michael B. came out to trouble shoot what was wrong with our frig. This has been an on going problem for almost a year and we had another local company come out to look at it, charged us an arm and a leg and never fixed the problem. . Mike was over the top friendly, very knowledgeable and did a super job explaining. I wont let anyone else look at any appliances other than Mike. On a scale from 1-10 we give him 100!. Great service and very helpful. would recommend to anyone who wants to keeps an old appliance running like new. ok so 2 weeks after I had them come out i find out that the original part that was not working cost less than $20 almost everywhere i saw online, I was charged $180 for the repair. Now my dryer is broken again this time they said it was a different part. I looked up the part online an purchased it for $24.87. The repair man was going to charge me $89.99 for the part not including any service or labor fee. I asked about the pricing they were giving me and the service man told me that there was no way for me to get that part for less than $90. He seemed like a nice guy and showed me how to replace the part. good service but way over priced. I would recommend looking up prices of the parts they say are broken before you pay there high prices.
Today Michael B. fixed my dryer with no problem, then noticed a bulge in the rubber hose from the spigot to my dryer, with the spigot located @ 8 from the electrical box for the washer and dryer. He noted that when it popped, which it would, it would shoot straight for the electrical, make a puddle on the floor, and cause a huge mess let alone possible electric shock. Fortunately for me, he had hoses in his truck and replaced both the hot and cold, with great teaching along the way: I now know when to invest in metal hoses and when to settle for rubber; why not to buy the DIY dryer vent cleaning kits (they dont work and actually do damage by compacting lint and restricting air flow), why I shouldnt spend any money fixing my washer. Fixing the hoses, which were much more important than the simple dryer problem for which I had called, cost only @ $40 more, most of that parts. I appreciated that he went beyond the fix to look around and solve the problems I didnt know I had. Thank you!

2022-07-20My dryer stopped working today. I was able to diagnose the faulty part myself and after over an hour of calling different businesses, being told either the part was discontinued or it not being in stock and could be shipped, I came across Dave Smith Appliance. The person I spoke with on the phone quickly found the part, letting me know it was in stock. For the price I was quoted, which was 30% less than having it shipped, I was expecting a generic part. To my surprise it was a factory certified part. Everyone I spoke with was very helpful and my dryer is working again! Next time I need another replacement part, this will be the first place I call. Thank you.

2022-04-15Dave Smith Appliance Services were wonderful to work with. From everyone I interacted with on the phone to the techs that came to the house, they were kind, knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend using them for all appliance repairs! We have a dishwasher that Dave Smith’s techs diagnosed and attempted to repair. Unfortunately it was a warranty claim and they weren’t given the chance to replace the part per the warranty company. Big Thanks to Dave Smith’s people!! Keep up the fabulous service!

2022-07-01Will not be using this company ever again. Our ice maker was not working on our refrigerator. The service technician within 5 minutes determined that the wires at the bottom of the door were sheared off and that was why the ice maker was not working. He never had to take anything apart to figure out the problem. To fix our issue it would involve getting a new door from Whirlpool for $1,900. (Technician gave us this price) The refrigerator cost $1,300. Since the refrigerator is just over 2 years old we will be contacting Whirlpool to see what they might do for us. My issue is that he was there for less than 10 minutes but charged us $123 diagnostic charge. An ethical company would not charge someone $123 for what I mentioned above. I reached out to the office to let them know that I didn’t agree being charged that much for doing basically northing. I requested a lower charge but was told that’s the diagnostic charge regardless the time spent. This is ridiculous!!

2022-03-10While Tom couldnt repair my fridge (really, freezer) on the spot, he did everything he could. Not his fault at all. My advice, avoid Samsung products. This guy knows his stuff and was just a good dude. Debating on whether to repair or buy new. Tom was completely honest and trustworthy. And it takes a lot for me to trust someone. Have already recommended Daves to a few folks and will be my go to in the future.

2022-03-12Will not be using this company again. The service technician went to our dryer stood and open the door back and forth ran it for a couple cycles went behind the unit verified it was blowing air. We went to the basement determined it was the venting and they do not perform that service.An ethical company would not charge someone $122 for what I mentioned above. I reached out to the office and let them know and they just confirmed that they do not perform that service.I do hope they contact me to discuss this matter further or provide a refund. The technician was very nice.I would recommend that others look for a full service company rather than wasting their money.

2022-06-18They tried to charge me 570 dollars to put on a heating element on my dryer. I looked it up on Google parts n labor was only 170 dollars. DONT USE THEM! There service guy was nice tho 🤷🏾♂️
