A friend of mine stayed at Darby Glenn for a few weeks while recovering from a health episode. We were very impressed by this facility, she was well cared for and all needs were met. The nurses and aids were very attentive whenever she needed assistance. Therapy was wonderful as well, got her up and moving quicker than we thought. I definitely recommend Darby Glenn and will use their services if needed.
My client was sent to a skilled nursing facility upon discharge from a local hospital that ended up being a very negative experience. I stepped in and suggested Darby Glenn. Her experience was absolutely amazing. She made incredible progress while at Darby and is now thriving back at home. Thank you Darby Glenn staff for giving my friend great care!
By far, the best facility I have ever worked for. Darby Glenn is literally one big family. There is no other group of people that I would rather spend my week with, then the amazing group of people that make Darby Glenn the amazing facility that it is. Your loved ones could not be in better hands.
86 year old friend recently admitted to Darby Glenn for short term PT/OT. Because he has been homebound, he had not been vaccinated for COVID. Darby Glenn placed him in isolation for 10 days. So now on day 11, he tests positive for COVID and is not allowed to remain there. We were called by his nurse to come take him home.
I wish I could give a minus 10 stars to Darby Glenn. They really did me and my father wrong on June 28 2015. My dad was unable to walk after almost dying from several infections. They did a wonderful job with my mother in the past and thought this was the best place to go for therapy. No bad reports from Darby Glenn that he may need long term care untilthe day of his release. Even then one therapist lied to me on a good job he was doing Then the head therapist told me the truth. He was a 2 man assist and needed long term care. Darby Glenn gave me a day notice and told me that they dont take medicaid , They gave me some forms to fill out for medicaid and said they cant keep him there since the insurance money ran out. I had to go to my local nursing home and plead for help. Arbors West took him in, but because of the short notice couldnt get transportation set up until one day after the insurance release. I had to pay these blood suckers $321 an extra day to keep my father there until the transportation arrives. I was told by Arbors that it was the law that all nursing homes must provide medicaid care which Darby Glenn refused to do.
I recently spent 6 days at Darby Glenn. Every meal was cold. I was never ask if i needed anything. I was there for recovery on hip replacement so was not allowed to get up on my own. I had good aides but i had a few that should not be there. Nurse were fine. Getting the right equipment was a task. Or even came in and took a wheelchair from me. I would not recommend this facility at this time. I spoke with social services there about all the above.
My very best girlfriend had a rehab stay here. I was impressed that there was not the typical nursing home smell when we first toured the facility. When she admitted things were rough fort he first 48 hours but once therapy got started and pain management was initiated she was happy with the rest of her stay. As her friend it was hard to see her so unhappy but once she got in the groove my doubts of having my knee done went away. i will be doing my therapy there if necessary.
Darby Glenn has a Culture of Care that strives to make all stays in the facility a safe, loving, homelike experience. The team here truly cares about each resident in the facility, as well as each team member as if we are all one big family. I am lucky to be apart of it!
What a wonderful facility! I understand why there is such a long waiting list to get in for long term care! My mom was recently transferred from another nursing home. What a difference! The staff is so welcoming. Any concerns or questions are addressed timely. Couldn’t be any happier for my mom’s care. 5 Stars all the way!!
Was a clean facility where residents were taken well care of but some of the workers were rude and didnt do their job. Management will move regular workers to different halls where they dont know the residents after getting to know the residents on the hall they were assigned, They will change your assignment with no explanation even if you request one. If families had an issue more than once then they were talked about by some of the workers and nurses after they left. Drama happened a lot with the workers but the residents were always taken care of and checked on by majority. If they hired more genuine people who cared about their work and if management was more courteous to the workers then this place would be top notch.
Recently my 85 year old father spent over 3 weeks at Darby Glenn recovering from a fall. I cannot say enough about the facility and its staff members. Thankfully my dad is now back home and my family really owes Darby Glenn a 5 star rating because he is able to take care of himself and he is physically in a better place.
My recovery at Darby was a speedy one after my hip replacement. I was not happy to have been referred to a nursing home by my surgeon, but I am glad I picked this one! The food was good, the nursing care was great, and Therapy team was super friendly! My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to my family!
Darby Glenn is a fantastic facility to bring your loved ones to. It is a very clean facility that provides amazing care. The employees truly care for the residents that reside at Darby Glenn, it feels like a family atmosphere here. If you are looking for a great facility, look no further than Darby Glenn.
I’m a current employee. But the name on this review is not my actual name, but my friends account.I’ve worked at this facility since December 2017, and I have never loved a facility so much. Yes there are some bad things but every nursing home has good and bad parts.Management is amazing and is always so kind, we recently got a new administrator named Jim and he is a very nice and kind person, you can always find him chatting with residents and staff and if you have an issue with anything, him and the DON Erica are always willing to help. Erica is a very very nice person, whenever a new admit comes in, she always comes in and introduceds herself. Charmaine, Melissa, Carrie, Jackie, Kelly, Nikki, and Kiona are all also apart of management, and they are all very nice and respectful.Therapy is amazing too. Residents in both long term and rehab residents get therapy 5-7 days a week, 2-3 times a day. Both occupational and physical. I’ve seen residents come in unable to do anything for themselves and become completely independent but the end of their stay thanks to the work and effort therapy gives them. Therapy is also completely willing to help the aides transfer someone, shower someone, or help clean someone up. Everyone in therapy is super cool and kind. They communicate well with the nursing staff to make sure everyone is on the same page with the certain limitations or care ranges for each resident. The nurses are always willing help the aides and always willing help the residents. Most places the nurses refuse to do any patient care, they believe that since they are nurses they don’t have to change a brief or take someone to the bathroom. But not here, when ever I am done helping a resident, I’ll come out and my nurse will tell me that they took someone to the restroom or changed a brief or grabbed some ice for someone. Everyone is always so nice, and helpful. They are always willing to find a soulution and always willing to go the extra mile for the residents. People say this place isn’t a team player but it is, everyone works together. From management to therapy, maintenance, to nursing. Everyone works to find a goal to help the resident live as independently and happily as possible, and of course the way of care may not be what the resident may want. But at Darby Glenn, helping the resident live and thrive is the most important thing to us.The aides, are good at doing their jobs as well, I’ve seen aides stay late and come in early to help out, I myself have stayed late to give showers or given extra showers to residents who have asked, all of my resident and their family memebers are always telling me about how much they appreciate me and how much easier and smoother things go when I am on the floor. The only real problem I have with the facility is that aides have a tendency to show up late without giving a notice or call off when the shift starts. And doing it multiple times in a row. But other then that this facility is amazing and I wouldn’t wanna work any other place. The facility is always clean. Housekeeping cleans residents rooms every day, the rooms, offices, hallways, and resident lounges are vacuumed and cleaned every day, as well as the bathrooms are cleaned every day. Maintenance is always willing to fix anything wrong with something in your rooms, and laundry gets clothes back in a timely manner. All meals are plated and served immediately to residents. Activities happen everyday and the residents even go on outings to restaurants, movies, bowling, and stores.Ignore all the bad reviews, they were made by people who don’t know the true Darby Glenn. This facility is amazing and yes, it has some bad times, but every place does. The good parts trump the bad parts and if you ever need to put yourself or a family member into a nursing home, whether it’s permanent or for rehab, Darby Glenn is the place to go.- A current and very very happy employee.
Do not send your loved ones here! We withdrew my mother earlier than the doctor recommended due to the care she received. She was not kept on the proper diet and left sitting in a soiled bedding and clothing for extended periods of time. The night staff was not responsive to patient needs and was very rude/upsetting. MOST of the time it took at least 20 minutes or longer to respond to any nurse call. This facility either does not care or is completely under staffed. 😠
Do Not Send Your Loved one to this horrible nursing homeDon’t let the outside of the building fool you!!I was there every day to visit a friend of mineDay 1 he was in bed for 24 hours was laying in dirty bed food all over him that was there from morning before!Day 2 the aide yelled that she wasn’t going to put him in a recliner to eat his mealsYelling on the top of her lungsDay 3 He was laying in bed with the same issues of changed his clothes which was filled soiled clothesWhen I try to talk with his nurse/STNA no where to be found!3 weeks went by without physical therapy and stopped shower due it was not safeThe director of nursing was rudely and said that I was out of line trying to find someone to help my friend with the daily routineSeveral staff stated that I should not keep him here another daySeveral STNA said he was never going to leave facility and will go into hospiceFinally today was his last day and the floor nurse/ Human Resources all were not trying to make sure all his paperwork was completed. Then, after exhausting several hours someone finally said everything was set!!Please don’t send any one to this horrible place
We had a lot of issues with this facility. My father was only at the facility for a few days and had to be transported back to the hospital because he had a blood sugar level of 27 and was unresponsive. Then the PT department broke his knee as they did not listen to him when he said he could not do an exercise. It took several days for them to even get an x-ray done on the knee. It may be a good facility if you need someplace to live out the rest of your life and you do not have any medical needs. But I would not recommend them.
This place deserves no stars due to the NEGLECT that I experience as a ex-worker. Their human resource person (Melissa) is incompetent, she lies to the new hires. When ever you try to reach her she tells the Black girl who answer the phones to say she is in the meeting. State is always there, they lie to cover themselves and also accuse workers of stealing from residents when its really them. She just got promoted to that position, before she tell the new hires that she is new in that position, she will just say I will get back to that. She is terrible and a lair that never finish what she say she is going to do. The facility looks nice but there management sucks.
My overall experience was fair. I was terminated for someone elses nonsense. I really enjoyed my residents and a few co-workers, but didnt care for management. My season is over here and GOD has something else better on the horizons. I left bitter, but I will get a good nights sleep. No worries, life goes on......
Hi my is Ken Weekley and I spent 11 days at Darby Glenn my experience was wonderful all of the staff including OT and PT was great I was treated with respect and the nursing staff was right on top of things I want to thank Marty and all of the PT and OT staff for helping me to get back on my feet it feels wonderful to be home and I just want everyone to know what a wonderful experience I had theyre at Darby Glenn wantto thank the food staff I cant believe how good the food tasted there.
This place is a joke I know people that work here and I wouldnt send any of my family or friends to this place!!!! The employees all have sexual intercourse while on the job.. there are some residents that dont get their diapers changed at all in a day sad that the state is to dumb to catch on to this
I went in for an interview in August, nice facility from the outside and lobby area. Once I were supposed to meet with the lady to interview me, she was unavailable. So this other lady conducted the interview, needless to say when she asked me (So Why Here), not only because it was closer to my house but the way the whole interview went down. Such in an unprofessional way, I knew right then and there I wasnt going to accept the position there. Next time someone need to conduct an interview for this company, at least make the person feel like wanting to accept the position. Only patients going to be suffering are the patients.

2022-03-10My mom has been here for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about the staff and management. The aides are very attentive and timely, the nurses are kind and compassionate, and I cant forget about their admissions director Destiny who stops by to see my mom every day and make sure she is taken care of. Activities are amazing and she loves to attend! Overall such a positive experience and recommend this facility highly!

2022-03-08My son is a special needs guy who is very social. The staff and residents are kind, respectful and caring. He is very happy to be a part of the group. He loves the fun activities and looks forward to them daily. The food is always hot and great tasting. The PT and OT staff have his best interest in mind, and are working with him to regain his independence. I also feel comfortable leaving him in their care. Someone is always around to answer my questions. Thanks Darby Glenn

2022-07-08Terrible. My mom went there for respite, and was allowed to fall hard out of bed, and we found she had a UTI (which causes dementia symptoms in older people) and I went in the check on her and the absolute delight of a woman who was supposed to be working the front desk, checking in visitors and warning them that they had an outbreak of norovirus (which she absolutely did not, ever once) was literally mocking my mother and making fun of her, imitating her voice like she was Goofy from Disney/slow, dumb because she (again, raging UTI dementia symptoms) was calling out for her sister because the staff was ignoring her. Absolutely abysmal, and flagrantly bad, mean people.

2022-02-21Four directors of nursing and three administrators in the not quite two years my sister was there. We found them making a lot of promises that they didn’t keep. We were disappointed in my sisters care. Someone should’ve checked on her every two hours, but it did not seem like that was happening. She can be difficult, but often when we went to visit her hair was dirty and she smelled of urine. She didn’t have towels or underwear in her bathroom most of the time. She had a constant yeast infection in private areas of her body. We are moving her to a small house at Otterbein Gahanna.

2021-12-02If you love the person who needs care please do NOT even consider this place! My aunt is here now we are having her transferred. She is elderly with a broken leg. The first day they almost dropped her it takes 12 hours at times to get pain meds and just today they put her on the toilet she pushed the button when she was done however after 45 minutes she was feeling very lightheaded. I believe it was panic but she had to get back to bed by herself on a leg shes not supposed to use. There is much more but it would be to much. Run away from this place!

2016-07-19Darby Glen recently provided my 87 year old mother with the best rehab experience she has ever had. Sadly, she has been in 3 rehabs over the last two years and Darby Glen was exceptional in every way. Her first rehab experience was a great facility, so so staff. The second was great staff, not so great facility. Darby was great in every way, facility, staff, room, food, and response to family. I cannot stress enough how worry free her stay was. It was the first rehab experience where I did not receive a call from my mother complaining about something and wanting to go home. Hopefully our rehab days are over but if they are not, I would not hesitate for a second to have her return to Darby Glen. I cannot recommend them enough.

2021-07-21My mother-in-law stayed here for a few weeks after falling and breaking some bones.(but not her hip). The food was mostly poor, especially after they hired a new chef. The nurses ranged from Nurse Ratchets, to so-so, to excellent. The physical therapy was very good.
