Dakota Watch Company in other cities:
I needed a simple battery for my bulova watch. I bought the watch at Macys. They sent me to Dakota in the Polaris mall for the battery replacement. The girl at the Dakota counter said, No problem. Give me 15 minutes, and Ill have it ready for you. When I came back to pick it up, she said be extra careful about getting it wet. When I asked why, she told me she can never get the backs on this kind of watch very good!I can actually see a gap between the cover and the watch case! If she had mentioned she didnt know what she was doing when it came to working on bulovas, before she ruined my watch, I would have taken it to a jeweler! I am beyond angry right now! She acted like it wasnt a big deal and seemed confused as to why I am not happy!
Im an ex employee. I was hired on to do a job and I went above and beyond to do that job. Was not paid anything I was promised. Im still owed money from management. Very unethical practices going on, inside theft from employees. Nothing ever done about it other then told to keep quiet. Absolutely filthy disgusting and things going missing. I would come in and clean my entire shift after a slob manager and still not get paid what I was told I would be. I was asked to do things i wouldnt agree with and that just caused more conflict. I was talked to in ways that could have brought law suits. I put up with comments I should have never had to. I was completely taken advantage of and abused.I would make really good sales and everyones sales was watched and you was supposed to get a bonus for sales. If the manager seen you was getting a good sale he would take over so it went on his count and you wouldnt get any credit for that. You would do the work but who rang the order out would take credit. Not a fair place to work at all.You can never get ahead with crooked staff.Watches went missing. Money went missing. Tools was stolen and replaced with cheaper versions. Some batteries as well. Was asked to reuse batteries. Same batteries used for every single watch but they would offer you a warranty. Make it sound like you was getting a better battery and deal when all the batteries that are supposed to be used, are supposed to last 2 years anyways.Youll get fast talked and get promise after promise. Literally hustled by the manager. Youll expect your promise kept but youll get nothing in writing. You will not even get receipts on some watches because Dakota does not insure or warranty the work. The store is not supposed to even touch top line brands, however employees are encouraged to accept the repair or battery replacement. Not to tell them that if anything happens to their watch, its their loss 100%. Because no one reads the fine print explaining the Dakota company will not cover any loss over it. No receipt, because no paper trail can be left. Not worth the risk to save a few bucks when the watch is worth more then everything in that kiosk combined. Please take you fine watches to a high end jeweler. Not a mall kiosk where anything that happens is only covered with an apology.Definitely at your own risk.I put in 2 week notice because I refused to continue to be a part of such a shipwreck and was told never return. Last check did not include the hours I worked nor the money I was promised. Not one single pay was right after my 6th week there. You get sob stories and excuses, told the following Friday you would get the money, then for 3 days youd be the only one on the schedule and no answer with calls.Manager avoided me for weeks.Go somewhere else.If you care for your watch AVOID THIS PLACE.At very least go to a different location.Bad management, bad service, bad staff, bad karma all together. One star is too much for a location that abused me and didnt make good on anything promised.Sad thing is I didnt need that job and only took it to help the manager. I was on the bus 2 hours each way, every day I worked. 4 hours total. Some nights i had to wait an hour to catch a bus to go home. So 4-5 hours I was losing in my day to go to a job that I was normally only scheduled to close the last 3-4 hours and still not paid for working the job and hours I was there for.It wasnt worth it at all, but I was trying to help out someone out. Kindness got me treated like meat and lied to. A good heart was taken advantage of. Asked to do horrible things and not agreeing to and treated horrible. Because I wouldnt accept the way the managment wanted done I was talked about and discredited. Told it would stop if I did favors! Its abuse and no woman should have to go through that treatment. Some Men today mistakenly take kindness for more.Really to bad because I loved learning the lost art of a watch. The work on watches itself was amazing and completely mesmerized me.
Terrible! Ruined my moms new watch.Took my moms ceramic watch I got her for Christmas to have links taken out. The guy who owns the place said sure 15 minutes. After we watched him for 25 minutes pounding on moms watch with his hammer and using needle nose pliers on it trying to get pins out . We realized he didnt know what he was doing and asked for watch back and told him we were going elsewhere. He scratched the watch and just as we expected he damaged the pin whole bc he was trying to get pin out the wrong side. (Arrows were clearly marked on the watch). Terrible. Wouldnt take a 5 dollar watch there to be touched not alone an expensive one which was recommended by the mall information desk. Stay clear.
This was my first job. As a part time minor. I was forced to work the store by myself only after 2 days of training. I was scared and honestly didn’t know what to do, but had to put on a fake face and act like I knew how to fix your watch (and did it, many times). After a month of me working there, my GM quit. My next shift wasn’t until 3 days later. In that time, i was not contacted by anyone, I didn’t know who to contact. And didn’t even know if I was still supposed to come in. But I did anyway, and met my new GM, who is still the current GM. He was the most unprofessional manager I’ve ever met. He would talk to me about drugs, sex, and his love life...at work. (He’s like 30, I’m 17 at the time). I provided him with my cell number, to contact me as a employee, which he later used as a number to harass me after I’d already quit. He would leave early everyday I worked, and asked me to clock him out, hours after he had left. Money was deduced from my paychecks, I’d assume I didn’t work as long as I thought, but later found out they have access to change time sheets. I tried to contact cooperate about this, and they completely ignored it.
Worst business and service inside the polaris mall. I always use that location to change my watch batteries but last 2 visits younger kid with glasses taking care of me. I dont know who train him but I dont think this business survive longer. I definitely stop going that location, I will visit easton location.

2021-12-19I have went to Dakota Watch Company on four occasions, which each time I was very satisfied with the service. I brought in my Bulova watch to get the battery changed and it was done within twenty minutes. This is a normal time frame for a vendor due to other commitments that they may have. The warranty is two years which I always keep the receipts if my watch stops before the time the warranty runs out. Each battery wear in about 18 months which I expected... two years is stretching the battery life but if it goes out the far I am well appreciative when I go back to get it replaced. The customer service is in par with the type of environment and commitment of the repair.

2021-11-15I am normally a very kind and generous person. I went to the Polaris Fashion Mall today, Sunday November 14, 2021, in Columbus, OH where I was advised to go the Dakota Watch Company to replace the battery in my Car key fob. After speaking to the guy on duty, he looked at me as if I was speaking a dead language to him. He was very supercilious, obnoxious, uninviting, rude, and very insulting. After he looked at my battery and without any communication, he asked me to pay him $16.00 even though I did not see him change my battery. After I asked if he changed the battery he yelled on top of his lungs YES. NOW PAY ME IMMEDIATELY OR I WILL REMOVE THE BATTERY Whatever got him upset before my arrival, I was not part of it, and I did not deserve all that boorishness. After all I am the one paying him with my own money. I respectfully asked him to replace my old battery back and return my key. He immediately threw the key at me and asked me to get lost. What???? How does this company allow such inhumane guy to work with people from all walks of life? I think he has something against black people. In my opinion, this guy should NEVER be allowed to work with human beings. He has no skill set whatsoever. After that arrogant behavior, I decided to go on youtube to figure out how to replace the battery myself. The guy never replaced my old battery back. He took my battery and threw my key at me. Now I have to go to the dealer and have them figure out the battery that I need. What??? I will NEVER, EVER recommend anyone to go to Dakota Watch at the Polaris Mall in Columbus, OH to have your battery replaced or watch repaired etc. You will DEFINITELY be insulted, disparaged and rubbished. My true review is less than 1.

2021-12-02I went to the Polaris Mall location Monday, November 29. They were closed. A sign said they were closed every Monday and Tuesday. and will open Wednesday at 11:00 am. So I went back today just before 11:00 and waited until 11:30 for someone to help replace batteries to three watches. No employee showed up. The sign that had the hours posted on it should have said hours are depended on if the employee(s) feel like showing up.

2018-01-04I had to get a battery replacement on my wrist watch. I washed my hands later in the day and noticed fog in the watch, the back was loose enough to take off with my fingers. I found that the guy who replaced the battery bent and pryed the battery retaining tab out of the way, replaced the battery and bent it back into position. When the professional route would would have been to remove the screw holding the battery retaining tab. Very disappointed with my 20$ battery replace and install. Would never recommend getting any watches serviced here!

2021-10-14Went there on 10/14 for a watch battery. Polaris location. The clerk was very rude and said he couldn’t talk to me because I didn’t have a mask on. I left, went to JC Pennys and bought a new watch!

2016-04-23Got to the store right at 9 pm on a Friday (after first checking to make sure they would still be open) only to find the gentleman closing up shop. When I asked him if he would be able to change my watch battery he said no because they were closed. I showed him my phone where it says on Google they are supposedly open until 930p and he said well we typically are on weekends, but my manager only scheduled me until 9p, so youll have to come back tomorrow. Im a little bit disappointed with their level of customer service and probably wont be coming back to Dakota in the future.

2020-06-17Justin did an amazing job fixing my fiancé’s Burberry battery on his watch! It also came with a one year warranty on the battery! Definitely recommend battery changes here from our experience!

2013-05-14I really like getting my watches here! Theyre pretty inexpensive and come with a warranty. Ive actually made them honor that warranty and they were really cool about it. The first battery is also free on them. I like changing up my style and the watches are cheap enough I can do that, but good enough quality to be reliable.

2018-04-20Nate is the man! I had smashed the crystal face of my watch and lost one of the numbers. Not only did Nate fix the watch face he also found a replacement number. All the work was done in two days, and with a battery replacement the total was less than $40. Other places were asking in the hundreds to repair. Talk to Nate and get five star service. I haven’t had any dealing with other employees so I don’t know about any one star review. But talk to Nate and he will take care of you. 5 stars.

2017-12-17Do Not take your watch here. Cash drastically cheaper than charging was a red flag and pounding on watches to remove pins is another red flag... Pulling pin out the wrong way getting it stuck then pounding even harder on an expensive not shock proof watch last red flag before I took watch elsewhere. Wrong too and obviously no training which one would think wouldnt be a necessity. Wrong not all watches are created equal. Find a more reputable place unless u got a cheap watch and need a cheap fix.
