Crave in other cities:
I cant say too much because my order was a pick-up but... The location is nice and central in Akron. Nice ambiance inside. Service was great. I liked the food but I wouldnt get the same dish again - vegan BBQ jackfruit sandwich. It wasnt flavorful enough, definitely not enough BBQ sauce. Im hoping they get the sweet potato burger back on the menu! The other vegan option is the impossible burger. Ill likely be back as I appreciate the quality and service, and this appears to be a good place to go with a group or varying diets.
Easy access with parking garage across the street. First course was the Tomato grilled cheese soup. I really enjoyed this play on a classic combination. It was delicious and would definitely order again.Next course was the chicken and waffles. The waffle and syrup were delicious, but sweet. I was disappointed in the chicken. It was cooked well, but there wasnt much flavor. When having it with the waffle, all I tasted was the syrup and waffle. It would have been nice if the chicken was salted or peppered to better contrast the sweetness. The breading on the chicken didnt add much texture too the dish since it didnt have much crunch. Overall the star was the waffle, but felt like I was just having breakfast.I would go back, but next time skip the chicken and waffle.
One of the best, if not THE best, dining options in downtown Akron. Crave has a very varied but delicious selection of dishes on the menu, from soups and salads to sandwiches to entrees. Must try the jambalaya and the blackened chicken, theyre out of this world. Appetizers like the steak skewers and calamari were so good we nearly skipped the main course doubling down on them!
I just can’t with this place. First time I ordered a steak I asked for medium and my steak was extremely rare I had to send it back. Went today got a steak asked for medium well and it was cooked so long it was hard and tough to chew, it came with a sauce that was sweet I didn’t like it but my server never came back so I had to ask some random server for steak sauce (this was seriously after waiting at least 15min for my server) I paid almost 40$ for a steak and was given A1 steak sauce Togo packets….husband only suggested we go there because he wanted scallops and those weren’t even on the menu anymore so I can’t say I recommend going there.
It was incredible. The service was great and the food was amazing, we had the stuffed eggplant and salmon with beef skewers as an appetizer. They were all great. My girlfriend also has a soy allergy and they were very accommodating with it. Definitely planning to come back when we visit Akron again!
The atmosphere was really nice, with low enough lighting that it was romantic, but bright enough that I could still read the menu! The food was very good (we had the chicken and waffles, and Gouda Mac and cheese), they also had a variety of options including vegetarian and vegan. The service was really fast and our server was friendly and answered all of our questions. We parked in the garage across the street which was really convenient and only cost us $2. Overall a great experience, and I would definitely recommend!
Masker required like many places nowadays. It was fairly quiet inside three other parties dining. Requested a booth which wasnt a problem. Started off with PIEROGIES of CELERY ROOT & Potato and it was so filling that I didnt have anymore. Service was prompt friendly and and had a PhD in food. A couple of door Dashers picked up food while I was there.
Outstanding service from the moment I walked in the doors of Crave. Patty was so kind, patient, and helpful in my decision making on what to order. I kept it simple with a burger topped with Asiago cheese and truffle fries. Thank you for a fine dining experience!! Highly recommend!!
Rachelle GMontreal, Canada229Reviewed 6 days agoDisappointingIf you are planning a special event this is not the place. I had my son’s rehearsal dinner and had booked a private room.on arrival the first thing I saw was a disgustingly dirty carpet. When I asked why the carpet was so filthy I was told that they recently had a children’s birthday party and a lot of cake had spilled on the floor! And of course they were sorry about this. Our server, who later told us it was her last night working here( lucky us) refused to wear a mask even though the restaurant says server will wear mask if you ask. When I asked Her why she replied that she could not tell me as it would make her cry.She brought the bill before we ordered dessert I guess she was ready to leave but we were not. Desserts were best part of meal but that is not saying muchThe food was just average and the swordfish was dry and overcooked.Th restaurant did not make us feel that this was a special event. There are much better places in Akron. I
We were visiting family in Akron and decided to stop there for dinner. The food was excellent and there was a wide variety of choices. There were 6 of us. We had 3 appetizers, 2 had a drink and 6 entrees and the bill was under $200 so I feel it was reasonably priced. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. I would stop there again.
I have been coming here since they first opened. Im pretty sure Ive met all the family as well as became family. I also have seen them through ruff to tough. This place is amazing. Ive made so many memories here and am still making them. This is a place you want to go above and beyond when you tip. The service and food are Michelin Star in my eyes.
Great food weird waitress though. I wouldnt buy any wine, or any other alcoholic beverage with my id if my spouse cant get it as well. They really need to update their requirements for alcoholic beverages for people who have an id but the spouse doesnt. 5 stars for the food. 1 star for the waitress who served us.
Food was terrible. Our server was also the bartender and he was nice which is why I gave 2 stars instead 1. The food looks nothing like the pictures on the website, we came for fine dining and got what looks like prison food. It was just slapped on the plate and tasted plain, the selection was y appealing either we could choose what to order cause nothing on the menu looked appealing. The website is very misrepresentative because the it makes you please you’re getting a fine dining experience with complex flavours but it’s just mediocre food and the menu is nothing special. The restaurant is quite simple inside and our table and seats looked very rough. Would not go back.
Enjoyed an amazing experience. Its been a long time since my brother and I have been out to dinner and have been blown away, but they hit it out of the park! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Our meals were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious! Highly recommend.
I had several dishes from this place while in town for a couple of weeks. The food here is fantastic. I had it delivered on several occasions but going to the restaurant was a treat. They are following social distancing practices. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The chef definitely knows how to cook a steak. The prices are right on. I definitely recommend and will return whenever I am in town for sure.
Crave is an Akron staple. Always great flavors and interesting food combinations. I was disappointed they got rid of the pizza, but otherwise love everything else on the menu. Always accommodating to my gluten free preferences. The fried Gator app is a must, expertly prepared and very good! The salmon dinner was fantastic. If youre traveling through youve got to try Crave!
My sister n law had a birthday planned ahead here. We all got there and started to order drinks to find out that they were out of alot of top shelve liquor, wasnt a huge deal. We ordered our appetizers which came out great and was delicious. We started to order our food for the kids and they were all out of chicken and waffles, now this place doesnt have a kids menu so chicken or waffles are good choices for kids. They said, they sent home the chef that made the batter for the waffles and chicken home early because they did not think we would be coming out. We moved on and figured out the kids eventually. All the adults order there food and its all good. After 45mins or so still no food and lacking drinks, the Manger there comes out to explain on her birthday in front of the whole group, that he had call my sister n law 3 times and she never answered so they did not expect us to show up, so they sent everyone home and did not have the alcohol stocked. Who calls to make sure a reservation was coming in or not.. And then apologized after blaming it on her. Food was really good our waitresses were great. Most likley wont go back because of the poor way of handling our situation.
Went here for my first wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambiance, food and service were exceptional. The manager congratulated me and my husband on the occasion and served us a plate of delicious fried shrimp and coconut rice on the house. Everything we ordered from the appetizer, to the entree, to dessert tasted amazing. This is definitely a place Ill be recommending to friends and and family. Thank you for a great first experience!
The service was great. This is a nice little place over all. I have only been here once but it seems like they try to blend a lot of flavors on entrees which makes it hit or miss even for things you may already like. I love fried green tomatoes but with all of the extra flavors and ingredients they put on theirs it wasnt as good. My wifes steak was fantastic. I really enjoyed the chicken and waffles although the syrup is a little too sweat because its not normal syrup it had to be a special cinnamon infused something or other. I will say that they should offer an option for two chicken breast for a slightly higher price because I wanted more chicken than waffle but I got the opposite. Over all I like it. I will most likely go back before I saw other entrees other people ordered that looked delicious.
Food as fantastic as it sounds and even better service. We were extremely pleased with our experience the whole way around. We went on a Thursday around 3pm. Our server was the bartender and he was excellent. My cocktail was top notch and he took a lot of time explaining the menu and dishes. Some good vegetarian selections and priced appropriately for the quality and portions. Warning: the portions are pretty large!! We will definitely be back and save room for dessert next time.
I had very high expectations for this place after hearing rave reviews about it from friends and family. I went here with my boyfriend on New Years Eve and we were both very disappointed. The only thing that I liked was our appetizer, which was the pierogis. We were seated in a corner that was extremely dark. So dark that we had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu. My boyfriend ordered a steak rare and it came out VERY raw in the center. He had to wait 10+ minutes to send it back. I ordered the Gouda Mac n Cheese with blackened chicken. The chicken was good, but the Mac and cheese tasted like it was out of a box. A manager discounted the steak 50%, but our bill was still about $70. I will not go back and I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone else.
Food was great but the service was absolutely terrible. Had reservations for 830pm on a Thursday night for girls night. Five of us and ready to spend money. We waited far too long just for our server to greet our table and from there out it was a disaster. We had two drinks over the course of two-three hours. In fact one of us went to the bar to get a drink because we NEVER saw our server, Patti. Would have loved to drink more, enjoy ourselves, build up our bill and stay for dessert but because of gaps in time between seeing our server we couldn’t. Very unfortunate and won’t be back. Was looking forward to a good night and really ruined the experience for us. Plenty of other places in the area that I’ll be giving my service to in the future.
Great food in a very unpretentious atmosphere. Literally a menu where you will want to order every single thing on it. Three different types of dishes on our table and everyone thought the taste and flavors were fantastic. Entrees were not huge, but this is quality over quantity and pricing is reasonable.
Great find in Akron! We ordered the fried alligator to share as an appetizer, and this was like buffalo chicken but deliciously chewy. I also got the kale and beet salad, and this was delicious and a huge portion. My coworker got the scallops dish, which was also tasty as well. Nice clean big restaurant, and service was fine.
The wife and I were entertaining a work related trainer from out of town. We ordered appetizers that were awesome but the empty plates and cheese boards stayed through dessert. Our guest ordered soup (as did my wife) and asked it to be brought with his dinner, it came with my wifes long before and dried bowls outlasted dessert. They missed the mark with our bar bill as the wine glasses were only filled twice in two plus hours. They stayed empty half the time we were there. I also would have easily had two additional drinks. To top it off the place was dead. Food was great, service was horrible. I am usually an over tipper, this time it was an undeserved 10%.
Great place for lunch. The BLT includes lobster and is fabulous. It is served with homemade chips. The lobster roll was also very good with lots of lobster. My friend had the chocolate cake (I dont remember the exact name) and loved it--the waiter said it might be a bit spicy but she said it was fine. The rest of the menu had some interesting choices I would definitely like to try on my next visit. It is a very short walk from the Akron Art Museum and definitely worth the trip. Service was excellent, although I have to say we were there after the lunch rush so I dont know how it would be at noon. With food this good I am sure it is a popular lunch spot.
The staff is accommodating to any wishes you may have. I had to change some things with my order and they were more than happy to oblige. Many different items on the menu and the dishes are fairly priced. Really friendly staff who knew had great manners and were excellent to speak to. Knew every item on the menu which was so helpful. Parking can be difficult at times.
Highly recommend for cheesecake and drinks. The food was pricey and not what youd expect in Akron. Nice atmosphere and nicely decorated. I ordered chicken and waffles because how can anyone mess up chicken and waffles. The sauce on the chicken was way too much. Completely over powered the dish. I scraped all of it off and got a bearable heat ratio. Too much and there was no way to taste the waffle. The waffle was sweet and almost creamy. Probably wont go to dinner here again. Been there done that sort of place.
Every time weve eaten here it has been amazing. From the service to the food. Weekends are usually busy and noisy. So if you are looking for a quiet dinner try during the week also request a table away from the bar. Also it isnt that kinda of bar, but does get a little loud time to time. I wouldnt hesitate dinning at Crave.
The wait staff and kitchen here are amazingly professional, observant, and accommodating. We let them know it was our first time there and the owner/chef prepared us a welcome appetizer and sent it out free of charge. Our server was really top notch, you could tell she really enjoyed her job and felt proud of the restaurant. She was attentive, anticipated our needs and the whole floor seemed to work as a team. At the end of our meal, we really felt glad to have chosen that spot and will return next time we are in Akron. This was probably in one of my top ten dinners while traveling.
Very good food had chicken and waffles was really good waffle was awesome with the syrup and butter topped with hot sauce. Also corn and crab soup was delicious. Wife had blt with lobster and bacon. Big chunks of lobster really good to. Service was quick and very polite. Ive eaten here three times when visiting Akron and each time I was very pleased.
Loved it! I went in without much of an appetite, didnt expect to eat much. I got a bowl of tomato soup, an order of fries, and ended up splitting a lava cake. Everything was PHENOMENAL. Seriously, so good. Our waitress was also wonderful and happy to help my friend who had dietary restriction from gestational diabetes. Parking was simple, since its right down the road from the library parking deck. Will definitely be back!
If you are looking for a classy place with a great chef, look no further. We stopped here for a late lunch, and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious, and the service was perfect. My crab cakes were the best since Maryland, and my wife loved her stuffed poblanos. We have traveled widely in 40 countries, and we rarely give five stars. This is one of those upscale, 5-star places.
Went with 2other couples before we saw a Jazz Band. Phenomenal service and food! Had the beef Wellington and it was probably the best I have ever tasted! Table had other dishes and all came with high compliments. Will definitely go back! This restaurant is a must if your in Akron!
Have been here several times. Every time the food and service are perfect! Great drink menu, deliciously creative specials, and their core best selling items are amazing! Love the ambiance and decor. Clean, and can accommodate larger parties- even did my in laws wedding reception here! One of our favorite places, for both family and date night. Glad to have them so close to home! A true gem in Akron.
Modern cuisine style, menu is constantly updated, so that keeps things fresh. However, the quality of food doesnt exactly equal the high price tag. I attempted dessert the other day and couldnt even get my spoon thru the brownie.Great place to gather, drinks are good, fried alligator is amazing, everything else just average
So good! We ate here just after they opened when we were in town for my sisters birthday before moving back. I honestly think this place is why we moved back from California. The root beer braised, pulled pork is AH-MAY-ZING! The bar staff are great and know their way around a drink. Love this restaurant, cant say enough nice things about them.
This was a much anticipated experience, we dont make it to the Akron area often. Made reservations in advance and explained it was a special occasion. First impression was not so great. We were seated at a tiny table in a noisy bar. Normally I wouldnt care but I would have thought the fact that this was reserved as a special night, more thought would have gone into selecting a nicer spot in the restaurant. I ordered salmon medium rare, my partner ordered the schnitzel. Both were incredibly overcooked. I sent mine back and chose to stop there. The server made no offer to replace it and did not remove it from our bill. The manager did however. I am quite sure our choice next time would not be to dine at Crave. Sadly, this could have just been an off night from the table selection, to the kitchen, to the server. A complimentary cocktail or dessert would have been a nice gesture.
Nice date night spot overall, not overly romantic but dim with trendy lighting. We ordered a few plates to share-- the fried green tomatoes were delicious and the banh mi was good except for the fatal flaw of a soft squishy bread (instead of a crisp baguette). Good drinks and friendly staff, no rush service was nice (actually it was half empty which I thought was strange for a saturday night). Overall a solid spot for good food but I dont know if well be rushing back for more.
Had reservations, seated immediately which was great. However, seated at a dirty and sticky table. No one came over to even take a drink order, which was weird because there were only a few other people in the restaurant eating. We got up and left. No one seemed to care. Paid for valet parking to be ignored. I would recommend going elsewhere.
Good service and overall good menu. The black bean burger was very good I thought. I know this sounds weird but their unsweetened tea is awesome. Its infused with something and its some of the best Ive ever had. Parking is a nightmare and youll probably have to valet it.
Had the chicken and waffles with a side of asparagus. Asparagus was pretty good, chicken and cardboard isn’t worth coming back for. Service was pretty bad.... it was a Wednesday night so I will give them the benefit of the doubt but I was sitting waiting for my check for 15 min. I will be exploring other options in Akron.
Ive been here a handful of times now and have loved every dish so far. Most recently tried the calamari, which was by far the best I have ever had as well as the steak which was cooked excellently. Crave is definitely on the pricier side, but worth it. I undoubtedly recommend this restaurant!
Over the past two years the quality and creativity of the cuisine has skyrocketed! The menu, which changes seasonally, is unique.I recently had the pan seared beef topped with Stilton and cranberries (Amazing) and finished with the spiced lava cake, which exceed my expectations.Crave also has a bar area, and it does catering.Check it out!
Pretty pricey, but to be expected from the locale and the type of establishment it is. The resturant has a varied and unique menu, with use if various sauces and items that wouldnt normally appear on conventional menus, such as alligator tail, and black truffle aioli. The portion sizes are respectable and I had leftovers ordering the flank steak sandwich. It was juicy and well made, however the sweet potato fries were burnt and the bottom of the sandwich was soggy after a couple minutes. It was still tasty, just not worth the price in my biased opinion. If arent worried about price or want to impress someone with a unique and special meal, stop in. If you arent trying to spend 15-30$ a person, dont bother.
The food and service is top notch...there were four of us eating together, and they all said their steaks were the best they had had in a long time. And they all had them cooked at different wellness..from rare to well done! I had the Sea bass...I would highly recommend this dish..
The staff were very nice, but the food definitely let us down. The chicken was awful my 2 year old wouldnt even eat it. My wife ordered a burger rare that came out med to well done. When we said something to the server he said awe Im sorry, but we have good stuff on the way. The alligator tail was alright, and my meal was good, but one good meal out of three isnt good odds. Hopefully everyone else has better luck, but as for us we will not be back. We dont like causing a scene at restaurants, or complaining so if we say something its rare. The fact that my wife did, and nothing was done killed it for us. Awe too bad just didnt do anything to help.
Used to be my favorite restaurant. Only reason it no longer is, consistency problems. At their best, it is as good as it gets......but they have off nights in my experience. Definitely still recommend. Excellent, interesting dishes and great bar and wine list. Always good service.
Gorgeous decor, nice semi formal atmosphere, excellent food, prices are solid for the quality of restraunt that it is. They have lots of options for people with allergies or dietary restrictions and take food prep very seriously in cases where a customer has made their allergies known and are very flexible with substituting ingredients in most dishes. They brew their own root beer which is a must have both as a beverage and as a float for dessert
During lent there your only options were a salad or two fish sandwich and the one fish sandwich had bacon jam on it. Just not really attracted to much on the menu. They dont have normal salad dressings and I havent liked what Ive tried. I usually order iced tea but they put mango in theirs and Im not a fan.
We came on a weekday night about 45 minutes before a movie at the Nightlife. We mentioned that we wanted to make sure we made it to our movie on time, and their response was phenomenal! They certainly delivered by getting our food out the fastest that I’ve ever had! It practically came out with our drink order (granted we made sure to order food that could be quickly prepared). We made it to the movie with plenty of time to spare. Thanks so much for a job well done!
Food was very good. Service adequate. However, with tables available in the main restaurant, we were placed in an overflow room with terrible acoustics. A large group of women at the next table made any conversation with our dinner guests impossible. It was a disappointing experience due to the ambiance of the restaraunt.
Beware! Crave ruined a very special night out for me and my wife.Crave failed on so many different levels. Let me explain. I took my wife to see The Carol King Musical “ Beautiful” at the EJ Thomas Hall in downtown Akron. It was a great show and a spectacular venue. After doing some online research, Crave appeared to be one of the better restaurants in downtown Akron. I made reservations online via Reso. We arrived at least 5 minutes prior to my 6:15 reservation. We walked in directly behind another party. The hostess asks if they had reservations. They replied no. They were given a glorious huge booth. All the booths are large and private. I couldn’t wait for ours. I informed him that we did have reservations. To our disappointment, he walked us over to a small 2 topper table right in the main thoroughfare. Is this how they take care of people who make reservations? He assured us that we had plenty of time to make the show. Our waitress finally made it over to our table. I informed her that we were going to the show and would like to order now. We reviewed the online menu so we knew what we wanted. We ordered our drinks and entrees. My wife ordered the scallops. at this point, she informed us that they were out of the scallops. I hate having to find this out after ordering. You should always be told upfront what they are out of before ordering. Now, my wife needs to review the menu for an alternative. The waitress tells us she will get us our drinks. It takes her 15 minutes to bring us our drinks and then she takes our order. We are still good on time. Now comes the worst part. It’s half an hour later and our food still hasn’t come. The waitress disappeared and won’t even come to our table to explain or apologize. The place empties out as everyone heads to show. We give it another 5 minutes. Still no food, no waitress, nothing. This was a total failure of the hostess, waitress, and kitchen. I highly recommend that you try somewhere else in Akron. . As a result, we were both very hungry during the show, and they ruined our plans for a nice relaxing dinner before Beautiful.
I have lived in Akron for 13 years, i did not expect a restaurant of this quality to exist here. Very fine food. Excellent menu. Slightly exotic. Great chef customized dishes. Good service. The beef filet with scalloped potatoes was a symphony of taste. Not as expensive as equal meal I NYC or Chicago.
Very great food, an absolutely lovely setting. Food is a bit on the steeper side of youre wallet but after youre meal theres a very nice selection of music venues you can also check out. Younger (Rowdy) crowd is to the right, behind crave (musica) Older/ Relaxing Crowd to the left @ blue jazz +
Food was mostly just ok. My lobster roll was good. Beet and kale salad wok but lacking flavor. Beet salad at Bricco is better. I also had sweet potato fries which were over fried. Sweet potato fries are better at OCharley. My husband liked his wedge salad and the rissotto, but pork medallions were too cooked. Outback s are better. Waitress was very good though. Not sure the quality of food warrants the price.
VERY poor service. We were given the wrong appetizers and then charged for them. It took more than 30 mins to get drinks. Our waitress never came back to the table after our meal was ordered except to bring the check. No water refills no dessert menu. I’ll never go back or suggests it to anyone.
This is an awesome restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. Ali, our server, was fantastic. She is professional, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and so customer focused. Ali and Craves Manager, who is a great host, made our dining a wonderful experience. The preparation and presentation of our dinners was amazing, which shows the skills, talent, and pride of the Chef and kitchen staff. If you havent tried Crave, you dont know what youre missing: quality food and service that cant be beat. Thanks again to everyone that made dining at Crave a very enjoyable start to our evening.
Place had an upscale trendy atmosphere. Our waiter EJ was excellent! Very personable and knew the menu. He did try to upsell a bit but wasnt pushy. Menu had many options and a wide price range. Had the pulled pork on pretzel hoggie, which was great. Hoggie was soft. Paid two dollars extra for fries instead of chips. Fries were excellent! Thick cut and well cooked.
Crave is a fun, funky place to dine. Have a number of eclectic choices and offer vegetarian selections, too. Food is delicious and fun. Only drawback is it is an open floor-plan with high ceilings and can get very noisy. Also, with the open floor plan, can feel as tho you’re sitting on top of the next table.
Food and service were reasonable. Made reservations a month in advance and the night of were told we could not have the table type we had reserved. Food was fine, though only one dish (Gouda Mac and Cheese) had a wow factor. Will try again, but first visit was a bit underwhelming.
There was nothing wrong with my service. But the food? Yikes. The nerve of charging $33 for steak and then over cooking it into an oblivion, along with burnt mushrooms and cold green beans. They gave me new food but truthfully that wasn’t very good either. Not sure if it was just a bad night but I won’t be back.
I used to think Crave was a great restaurant in Akron to dine in. The last time I went to crave was late afternoon on a Friday, there were 4 of us. My stepfather, who recently had a massive stroke, managed to get into the restaurant using his 4-post cane. Upon entering we asked for a table by the door. The hostess told us no, said there wasn’t a server for the main dining. I told her my stepdad recently had a massive stroke and could not do stairs or walk far. She said there were no other options. She told us the only place we could sit was the bar area, where we had to walk toward the back of the restaurant, up about 5 stairs (no ramp offered) and then turn a corner and go a couple more tables down. She never apologized or seemed to care in the least bit that he struggled to get to that destination. Not long after we sat, I saw she clocked out and went to the bar to have a drink. Our service was almost as bad as our hostess experience. That woman who regularly bartender there has given us poor service several times in the past so I can’t say I’m surprised. I find it hard to believe that the bartender could not walk to the main dining to serve us, there were collectively about 12 guests (including us) in the entire restaurant. We sent an email to Crave about this and never heard back. Absolutely ridiculous.
It was okay. Food was okay, service was okay, it was okay. I can check the box that I ate there. This was my second time going. Wanted to give it a fair chance. The menu reminds me of that rule before you go out for the night - take one accessory off before you walk out the door... The food to me seems to be trying too hard but just comes up short. I had the scallops with wild mushrooms, shallots, polenta and browned butter sauce. It was pretty good and the scallops were gigantic. The only real issue I had was the cup of browned butter that the whole dish was swimming in. If it wasnt a cup of it, I would be surprised. The food was swimming in it to the point that it degraded the consistency of the polenta. See what I mean? So close but then the execution just falls short. This dish would have been fabulous but it was hard to eat. All I could think about is how sick I was going to be if I ate too much of that melted butter. I took home a little more than half and plan to drain out some of the butter so I can enjoy it fully. But for $30, I dont think I would get it again. Way too messy for that price. Husband had the grilled cheese soup. He said it was good but it tasted like marinara sauce with melted cheese and a crouton on it to me. He also had the brisket with mole sauce, which he really liked. I think the mole sauce was a little under done because it had a heavy tomato paste taste to it and I didnt pick up any chocolate flavors or spices. The husband says he disagrees with me and there was a chocolate flavor, I must have had a bad bite. Anything is possible. The meat was nicely done and tender. Not dry. But the risotto was still a little tough and crunchy. Again, maybe it was just my bite, he really enjoyed his meal.Beer selection is impressive. Quality beer on tap was a huge bonus! Sibling Revelry, Devils Backbone....nice beer options. Nice bottles of wine options but by the glass choices are ok. Their sandwich options are better than the dinner options, in my opinion.
Always enjoy Crave! But last night was exemplary. i was with my two neices - one of which has celiacs - and is highly sensitive to gluten. While most restaurants give lip service to this issue, the bartender was very sympathetic. She informed the kitchen to take extra precautions. My niece was visited by the chef and assured every precaution was taken! This service was amazing and deserves to be noted by the management, etc. Our bill was around 40 dollars - and we tipped the bartender 20. I mention this so as to remind other servers that good service is part of the dining experience and is rewarded!!!
I eat there every so often and always enjoy it. The staff are great and the food is quirky but delicious. The place just has a cool vibe and is great for a change of pace or a date. For example, try the Grilled cheese and tomato soup. Think red and yellow yin/yang in a crooked bowl. Epic in taste and presentation. Ignore the negative Nancies, you wont be disappointed.
Youve got to try Crave its awesome and be sure to make it unforgettable by asking to be seated in Cheyennes section shes one unbelievable waitress you will be surprised by how a customer should be treated. Go have a great dinner and a great drink or 2. Valet parking also.
I work half a block from this restaurant and often grab a meal when I am on the evening shift. They can always accommodate me in the limited time I have. Although they are pricey, I dont mind when I get great food. I am not adventurous so I have not tried a lot of the menu. I recommend the Angus burger (my toss up for the best burger anywhere - I have another favorite elsewhere.) The Steak Skewers appetizer fills me up, The grilled cheese and tomato soup are the best ever. My friends have recommended the crab cakes, the catfish poboy and the smoked gouda mac and cheese. This place is great and after 6:00 PM or on weekends, the parking deck across the street is free.
Attending a convention walked to Crave from the high ratings on TA. We had a fantastic meal and ate outside on the patio area. Our server EJ helped us thru the menu on what were the local favorites. We started with Pirogies which were new to me and were very tasty. For our meals, The Steak Wrap and Pulled Pork Sandwich were local fav’s and understand why. Both were so flavorful and plentiful. For an upcharge, the truffle fries were well worth it... Great Food, good service and atmosphere scores a 5 star for me.
Wide variety of menu items. Their descriptions of their menu items seems like they wrote artinsinal ingredients on a series of dice and determined the menu by randomly rolling, and boy did it work out. Delicious, creative, unique. Get here and put it in you. All of it. Fork deep. Also, my wife says their BBC is delicious but i havent questioned that further..
My date had made us a reservation here on a Friday night. Upon arriving we were placed at a 2-top table near the front of the restaurant pressed against a blank wooden wall which was actually a side to the very nice booths. This cut is off from the entire restaurant and created an out of sight, out of mind experience with our server. The entire experience later just over 1.5 hours, which is a bit much for a dinner for two.The food and drink were tasted delicious, though we were disappointed by the portion of appetizers (3 small pierogies for $10ish!) and that our wine was served to us in stemless glasses. Not the best place downtown Akron, but we did enjoy our salads and leave full. Luckily we had each other to make the best of the evening!
Best upscale lunch/dinner restaurant downtown Akron; close to John S. Knight Center and Federal Court building. Food is fantastic every time; and staff is friendly and efficient. Prices are also fair for quality of food and atmosphere inside the restaurant and bar area. Highly recommend this place if you love great food. Never had a bad meal or experience here.
Trying way too hard to be fancy and not hard enough on actual taste and quality to be a true fine dining experience. Both my cocktail the smashed by bourbon which might has well of been straight bourbon (which normally I love) but as far as a cocktail it had zero depth. My dates cocktail was much of the same overly boozey and all the tertiary ingredients were buried. As far as my meal.. also lackluster. I had the salmon and it was much of the same dull and hardly any depth. It didnt taste outright horrible or inedible. But it was utterly boring, and very poorly executed. All muddied by doing far too much. The fish was cooked fine but the glaze was lost in the sea of watery sauce and served in a bowl of pad thai noodles. The cucumber sauce ended up mixing with the flavor of the glaze and giving it an off putting flavor. By themselves they were ok at best.My dates dish which was a special of the day was actually good from the bite I tried and was a fine example of a well executed dish.Overall service was fine but the flavors overall were sub standard even for a halfway decent chain.Crave cantina on the other had is far better. Really disappointed by crave though..
Crave is great! They have a variety of wine and drink selections. Their menu offers just a little something different and changes every so often. Nothing major, your favorites are usually always still there, they may just have a new little twist; which keeps things interesting. Pricing is very moderate for what you get. Appetizers are always amazing (I’ve tried every last one!), salads are great, and the entrées are also very good. Only thing they could work on, which is why I took off 1 star, is their sandwiches and desserts. Sandwiches usually leave a lot to be desired and look lost on the plate and most of the desserts just don’t measure up to the quality of the rest of the menu. Other than that, this place is awesome; we visit about once a month!
I lived in Akron my whole life and never went to this place not once. Until a friend of mine invented me to go. Anyway its a very classy and nice looking place. Also The service was cool and friendly. Not a bad place to go chill with buddies. Ill most likely go there again in the future.
Hard to put into words how much I like this place. First of all, I could stare at the hand-painted wallpaper all day! Please new owner (Katie), dont change the wallpaper! This classic restaurant (that my dad frequented in the Mad Men days) hasnt lost its appeal. The steaks are still great, and the Hogwash on the Oysters on the Half Shell is not to be missed.
Best restaurant Ive been to in a long time! Food was above outstanding, service was exemplary, they closed at 10 pm and we arrived about 9:40, had to get our order in no later then 10, but they never complained and they still were courteous to us even though our group did not leave until 10:45. Five stars all the way!!
This could be the best restaurant in Cleveland and Akron and Ive eaten at most of them. Had the brisket and it was over the top GREAT! I told the GM that their brisket was almost as good as Franklins in Austin which is considered the best on the planet. There is absolutely nothing I didnt like about Crave so I give it a great big RAVE!
Beautiful on the inside. We all wanted lamb chops because we saw them on the website but then were told it was an old menu. Our sever was ok. Drovefrom Toledo And had dinner before our concert. The tomato And grilled cheese soup!!!!!!!! Omg comfort without the bread and extra calories.
I met a friend there for a weeknight dinner. The menu is so BIG, it was difficult to decided what to order! We both ordered personal pizzas and salads. Both were delicious! We also ordered dessert. I ordered a beignet and my friend ordered the cookie. I was disappointed by the beignet because it was not a beignet, it was more like a shortcake. It was still good, but not what I had expected. We also didnt expect to get our pizza a a discounted price! We werent sure if it was a happy hour price, but they were half off. I will definitely dine here again.
Been here about a dozen times for business lunches, always got something different and have never been disappointed. The Gouda Mac and Cheese in particular in fantastic and filling. Great service, too. The only bad thing is the parking situation isnt good around the place--and you are pretty much forced to use the expensive valet parking lot next door, which is a real rip-off.
We had a terrible visit to Crave. The food is okay (not great) but with most negative reviews it is the wait staff that screws it up. The waiter forgot our salads and appetizers (never put them in) then pretty much ignored our table (1 visit to us in 40 minutes). He didnt take our empty glasses away when our meals finally arrived, never asked how dinner was, never asked if he could do anything, etc. Will not be back, especially with nicer options in the area.
Ill preface this by saying Ive worked in Food and Beverage industry for 10 years. I have never been so displeased by an establishment in my life.I went in on 7/16. I am vegan. I was excited to see that the menu offered the Impossible Burger. Listed on the menu is VEGAN IMPOSSIBLE BURGER. I read the description and it lists some sort of cheese Ive never heard of but naturally assume its vegan because its on the VEGAN burger. The other components are a VEGAN garlic aioli and an eggless bun. Being that the burger is called a vegan burger, Im thinking Im set. So I ask the waitress for THE VEGAN IMPOSSIBLE BURGER. She says okay. I then ask for the house veg as my side. She says okay. My food comes out and it looks like itll taste pretty good. I take one bite of the house veg side and can instantly tell its been sauteed in butter. I turn around to the waitress who is at the bar, give her a look and a gesture like Id like her to come over because I have a question. She stands at the bar and waits to see what Ill say. Because she refuses to come over Im forced to (nicely) shout across the floor, Is the house veg cooked in butter? And she responds with Yes. I give her a very confused look, stare at her until she finally makes her way over to the table. I told her I thought it wouldve been cooked without being I asked for it with the vegan burger. She says, Yes its been cooked in butter. And also if you noticed the burger has nonvegan cheese on it. At this point I couldnt be more confused. I said in disbelief Wait. You mean you guys put real cheese on something youre calling the VEGAN burger? She says, Yes, I know. This happens all the time. All the time?! You just said this happens all the time! Im beyond shocked at this point. I slid my plate to her and said I do not want this plate. She says, Oh. Okay. Well I can have the whole plate remade so that its completely vegan. IS THIS THE TWILIGHT ZONE?! IS THIS REAL LIFE? Keeping my cool, I asked her to please do so, being I asked for the vegan burger. I was not once rude to this woman or snappy or mean. Although this scenario I do not completely understand, I kept a very calm demeanor as I know getting upset isnt going to help. I watch her take it back to the kitchen and not being very far from the kitchen and the restaurant not being busy at all, I can then hear the conversation in the kitchen filled with profanities in both a male voice (assuming the chef) and my waitress! Im mortified at this point and feel an awkward tension. Now in my decade of experience, when a guest or customer sends food back to the kitchen, it is standard that you send the manager to the table to make sure everything is okay. At this point I shouldnt have been surprised that no one came to talk to us but I was. Ten minutes later she coldy sets in front of me my special requested vegan option vegan dish. I continue the nice conversation with my parents as I enjoy my meal. She collects plates, again in a cold manner. She asks if were finished, we say yes, she brings the bill, no discount or words of apology at all, we pay and leave. This is where my disbelief turns to my mind being blown. Because a manager was not sent over, and the waitress made me feel entirely too uncomfortable to ask for the manager, I filled out a request to contact form online, as I had some unsolved issues I wanted to discuss with Crave. Still no one has reached out to me I felt my only means of being heard were through here. You have an item listed as vegan which as it comes is not actually vegan. You have service staff who doesnt inform their customers who are most likely vegan that the burger isnt actually vegan as it comes. You have service staff who doesnt take care of customers. I am dissatisfied with the service and overturned about having eaten a bite of something non-vegan and distraught that no one at Crave cared. I would not recommend. I felt like I was not taken care of, I feel as if I were a burden, and worst of all I feel lied to.
I dont get this place at all. Id been in once before and it was decent, but kind of pricey. Overall the menu is hilariously esoteric and pricey for how good the food actually is. I would rate the quality of both my entrees (a weird rueben the first time, steak the second) as being about at Applebees quality. My girlfriends dinner salad and it came out drenched in what was clearly Sysco dressing after she asked for it on the side. The manager rather made a fight out of getting that fixed. It was actually so bad that when my steak came out well done after ordering it rare all I did was ask for steak sauce so I could choke it down. Turns out they are a five star restaurant and dont have steak sauce. What a joke! The waiter, who had been dismissive and absent the whole time, actually refused to get the manager for me a second time. We left w/o finishing our dinner. Only time in my life I considered running out on a bill.
Not bad, they seated ys at the worst seat in the place as every restaurant seems to do. Maybe because my girlfriend and i are a young 20s couple and they dont care what we think. Anyways, if you tend to hang out at art galleries in all your freetime, youll like this place. If you wanna try a recipe youve never seen anywhere else, youll like this place. Dont come here if youre on the keto diet though.
Went here for my birthday, the only thing that made us nervous was we had a reservation for 6 people and they didnt have the reservation, but luckily they werent busy and was able to seat us. The waiter was very nice, the foodand drinks were great. Would highly recommend it. I foolishly made a reservation for me and my wife for her birthday for an evening together for two.I made them on Monday for 6:00 on Friday. When we arrived they had our reservation this time but they proceeded to take us to the bar area and seat us next to another couple and right next to the glass window ,it was about 10 degrees outside. It had to be the worst seat in the place. I asked for a better and warmer seat and I was told that they have a lot of reservations even though they were not busy. I told the Hostess that I made our reservation almost a week ago. She then moved us to the dinning room but still sat us in front of a large glass window and the front door. She said it was the best she could do. I wanted to leave but my wife did not want to cause any trouble. We stayed and ate with our winter jackets on while looking at empty tables for two the whole time. What a disappointment for my Wife s birthday dinner ! I will NEVER go back again. As they say fool me once shame on you . Fool me twice shame on me. Fool me a third time and I would just be stupid.
Crave has the best selection of chef driven bistro type food in the Akron area and can hold their own against restaurants in bigger cities. A unique thing at Crave is the beer dinner where on the last Monday of every month they pair up with a craft brewer and deliver 5 courses of fantastic food paired with a beer. January 2019 was with Hop Tree, and the last course was banana & bleu cheese cheesecake with fruit Infused honey - it was fantastic! Try a beer dinner - you cannot go wrong.
First off, the price of the food out weighs the quality. I am not saying this is a bad place its just over priced for what they give you. i had Roasted ½ Chicken, Garlic Herb Marinade, Yellow Potatoes, Poblano Butter $21. It did no leave up to the required wait or price. I will try it again because every raves over the macaroni and cheese.
I dined here alone today, and was given a table right at the back of the restaurant. Thats more or less standard when you dine alone, but when I was served my main course when I was only halfway through my starter I really got the impression they wanted me out of there as soon as possible. According to the waitress it was because I had ordered my tuna rare, and so it was ready early. Which must be one of the most outrageous excuses I have ever heard. The food was okay: the kale salad was a bit spoiled by an overly sweet dressing, the tuna was good.
Not only do they not accept their own gift cards due to their own mistakes, but they also are very rude to your face. I can tell you I will not be returning to the restaurant ever. First, the menu is very wordy and difficult to understand. Not only was my food extremely bland, but it was also very small portions for the price.I decided to take my girlfriend out on a date and give this restaurant a try with a $75 gift certificate I received as a gift. When I went to pay, the server returned with the gift certificate and explained that the manager would not accept it. We waited 15 minutes for the manager to come to our table to explain about the gift certificate. We learned that Crave was involved in some illegal activities letting out bad gift certificates. Because of this, they would not honor the gift certificates at all. The manager was very abrasive and accusatory. She rudely insisted that she wouldnt accept it, and that we would have to pay for the overpriced sad excuse for a meal. She was neither apologetic nor accommodating for their mistake. After being completely embarrassed and dissatisfied, I can say I will never return to this sad excuse for a restaurant.
Ive eaten here so many times over the years I just expect more. After numerous steak wraps, likely the last dozen, my first bite has been filled with a fatty, gristly awfulness. I said something about it a couple of times, and left it alone. So tonight, I thought I would give it another go. What happened? First bite, a chewy, fatty chunk of beef. Dang.I usually like to get a salad for an extra buck, this time I regret it, I cant even place the actual taste, dirt mixed with something equally unappealing. Never been this disappointed here.

2022-07-09Amazing food in a classy setting. Gluten free options very much appreciated. They made a kids alteration on a menu item for my son. Service was flawless. Flavors were off the hook! Will definitely return! Upstairs would make a perfect space for a baller reception.

2021-07-25Our first time here and food was great. He had the Cajun shrimp and I had the garlic steak wrap. Both were very good and tasty! We had the alligator bites for an appetizer and they were okay. Friends had the calamari and was better. Restaurant was pleasant and nice. Highly recommend and we will be back to try other dishes!

2021-06-30Crave has been on my list of restaurants to try and I was so happy that I was able to stop by for dinner with my mom. The interior was nicely decorated, a few minor repairs could be made on upholstery but in the scheme of things, its the food and service that matters. Our server was absolutely wonderful, she was taking care of the bar and our table, but always had time to chat. She was extremely personable and so easy to talk to! We started off with a wine called Sex Chocolate which was delicious you must try it. We then tried the street corn trio which features Craves take on street corn 3 different ways. I dont even like blue cheese but I loved the blue cheese and bacon version. For dinner we had the tune and short ribs. It had to be some of the best tuna I have had. Simple flavors done right. The short ribs were melting in your mouth and the side of beans it came with were outstanding. We saved room for dessert and got the french toast which was sweet and a little savory, I loved it. If youre looking for a nice place in akron for an intimate dinner, or want to try a new restaurant with friends, definitely check out Crave.

2022-07-15Alligator tail and Airline chicken were good but duck breast was not cooked properly and disappointing - most of its fat hasnt rendered out and skin wasnt crispy. Cocktails I tried were simply sweet - Id suggest adding some lime or lemon both to Peachtini and Paloma. Or choose wine.

2022-07-06Absolutely everything we had was delicious and creative. Standouts were the Fried Green Tomatoes appy, Korean pulled pork sandwich and the berries and cream dessert
