Went to Ohio for a family road trip to drop off our first year college son from Chicago! Booked the room online, super fast and easy. Requested check-in late and room was available once we got there. Room was great. Clean and sanitized. All employees were friendly and was a great experience overall. Highly recommend.
This last stay and I have stayed several times at this location was awful compared to previous stays door slamming all night front desk guy not being helpful or knowledgable he acted arrogant and that I was interrupting his school work and was like no biggie Im not in the hospitality industry. Was charged and still dont know what for or why. My room was dirty and there was no shampoo soap or lotion. Only one towel and room was booked with two guest. I was so dissatisfied with my last stay. And I really liked this hotel previously.
I was there for a family funeral. I got there late and checked in and left about 10:00 am. I had minimal contact with staff. The ones I met were friendly. I didn’t get any food although other family members who also stay here said it was expensive. There was a gross dirty smear on the bathroom door. The room did not have any Kleenex. They did give a $10 discount for bereavement. There was not necessarily anything wrong with the room, I just had higher expectations.
Decent hotel at a useful location in Newark, if you have business here. Noisier on the highway side of the building. Room cleanliness was pretty bad though. They obviously didn’t change the sheets from the previous guest. Furnishings were old too. As an aside, food&beverage was quite limited because of covid, but plenty of local options.
Roach infested.. saw numerous roaches that set my nerves on edge. Sheets felt dirty and had chunks of something on them. So worried about bugs I couldnt sleep with that many bugs I was worried about bed bugs.. room had a musty smell like it had years of cigarette smoke. The one staff person I saw seemed nice.
Front desk guy that we had the first day and the morning of the second day was really nice and helpful. Room was very clean and very comfortable. Elevator could use a little grease and fabreeze but that’s not really a big deal. Love marriotts and will definitely continue having them be my top choice to stay. Great location close to a bunch of stores only downfall is the traffic from McDonald’s
We checked into the Newark Marriott to cut our drive to Cincinnati into two parts. We reserved the king suite and the room was very well kept and comfortable. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. We used the pool and had a great time! We felt very safe with the COVID precautions they were taking and will absolutely keep this hotel in mind if we are ever on our way through Ohio again!
During the COVID crisis, I have had to make 3 trips to Ohio over the last 6 months. Every stay has been to a different hotel, mostly in the Columbus region. Some still served breakfast, some still had their pools & fitness centers open. Then again some have not. This hotel had the pool closed, and no food available in the morning. And I must say that the photos on the web site do not match the room I got. Furniture was dated, however the bathroom was nice and exceptionally clean. And it was remarkably quite, I got a much needed great night of sleep! Overall, everything was OK for a short stay. Staff was friendly and my trip was successful and I did not get stuck in the 5 or so inches of show when I left in the morning!
They greeted my wife and I with the utmost respect and courtesy, the check in was smooth, efficient, and effortless and they were extremely helpful answering any and all questions and requests promptly and professionally. The room was immaculate, comfortable, and spacious. We had a wonderful time there and would definitely recommend this establishment for anyone looking for a hotel in the area that is centrally located for easy access to about anything in the Licking County area.
The staff at this facility are great at customer service. Rob was on duty when we checked in and then again the next couple of nights. He is an outstanding employee who is willing to help the guests. I found him to be engaging and friendly. Also, the housekeeping staff was very friendly as well.
Positive: The rooms were nice and it was clean and conveniently located. The hotel and parking lot were safe. Negative: The staff was unresponsive. It took 15 minutes before someone showed up at the desk to check me in. The next morning, same thing¿10 minutes to get someone to the front desk to check me out. Later she was outside smoking instead of being with guest li
My daughter and I were in town for a hockey filled weekend. Had a fantastic stay at this location. The staff was very friendly when we checked in and made sure we were aware of covid guidelines for the hotel. The room was spacious and setup for us to be comfortable. We will definitely stay here again when we come through for our next event.
To be asked why you have came in and to tell them your local and your air went out and you just came to be cool and swim. And they say oh, great idea! Then find out 10 min later the pool is shut down. He couldn’t have said that prior to taking my card and charging it?! I won’t stay again.
There is a private courtyard with tables which is connected to the pool area. There are balconies on the rear of the building overlooking this area. The pool isn’t heated & is very cold. During Covid it is closed off from the courtyard. There’s a small breakfast menu during Covid. The staff is courteous & polite. I wish there were more hand sanitizer stands.
Newly renovated facility with ample -close-parking tow food options in adjoining parking lots met our needs. The facility is easily found next to an interstate..noise from it did not seem to be an issue. It is located near a residential area..so shopping will require a vehicle and a drive to another area of Newark. Staff were cordial..excellent pool and good available hours.
I have stayed here many times. We had one of the remodeled rooms this trip. Not what we would expect from a Courtyard. We had to move furniture to find one of the few outlets, vanity in the bath was too small, even the tissue box was located near the TV, lighting was too dim in the bath for my wife to apply makeup, no mirror except in the small bath, shelf in the shower was virtually useless due to its small size & parking was still an issue due to construction.Positives: Bed was great, staff was very friendly, room was clean.Whomever was responsible for the remodel, needs to spend a couple of nights there.
No complimentary coffee or even a basic breakfast I booked for a three day stay. I got a email the morning of the second day to come back ASAP as our items were still in the room and the hotel was full for the night. I had to call and spend a lengthy time on the phone with the clerk straightening it out.Otherwise it was an ok experience
So I will say that the people at the desk were very nice. But getting to the room it looked very nice and newly renovated. And here the bad- The refrigerator did not work so we had our leftovers go bad also there was no microwave to reheat stuff and the bed was so uncomfortable that I felt like sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable. The pillows were very uncomfortable and me and my wife did not get any sleep that night.
We stayed in a suite that was wonderful. Very clean. Very comfortable. Had an issue with the tv in the bedroom, but it was a technical glitch that staff was able to fix. Best thing was the staff....so accommodating, so friendly, so helpful, so polite! The food place on site didnt offer too many options for a late night dinner but we called Jimmy Johns who arrived within MINUTES! Breakfast was good but took a little longer than we would have liked. But restaurant aside, everything else was wonderful! Would definitely recommend this hotel!
Two night (Fri/Sat) stay to attend our sons wedding in Granville. Our stay went well and was uneventful. Room was ready early which was very helpful. Except for a slight (food?) odor upon first arrival, our room was satisfactory in all respects; it was clean, had all of the desired amenities, and all of the mechanicals, electronics, lights, and plumbing functioned properly/well. Hotel allowed for a quick and easy drive to/from the wedding location. As the hotel was undergoing significant renovation, parking was limited, which required us to park in an adjacent restaurant parking lot one night.
This hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. The pool and workout room were in great order and fun. The hotel is updated and modern. The drink and snack area was perfect and stocked. The room was nice. The restroom was larger than most The bed and room temperature were comfortable. This was the best stay that Ive had at a hotel. No kidding.
Stayed one night on New Years Eve. Convenient location right off the highway. Simple check in/check out. Nice lobby area. Room decor a little dated but not bad. Bed was comfortable- not as plush as some higher end hotels but pretty good. Liked that you could log into your Netflix or Hulu account on the TV. Issue with slow draining bathtub which we informed front desk about. Did not interact with staff too much but they were friendly and receptive to issue. Overall for the price and location it was a successful stay.
It is nice to be able to purchase breakfast and even the evening meal without leaving the hotel and both are reasonably priced. It is also nice to be able to have a glass of wine in a quiet atmosphere rather than having to leave and go to a bar or restaurant outside the hotel. Friendly and attentive staff. Guests will be comfortable here. Stayed here solo on business initially, but have been back with my husband for leisure as well as for business. Ive been impressed with the genuine interest and friendliness of the staff.
The staff was excellent--kind and very helpful! They took note of the fact that we were a party of five and gave us a room with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa, which made travelling with my husband, parents, and six year old much easier. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the indoor pool!
Having just spent the night at another hotel in town, I was not very impressed with my time at this one. While the front desk staff was very kind and courteous, we had an issue with the pool and the maintenance staff was not kind or helpful. The pool was dirty and they said its supposed to be that way. If youre coming for a hotel with a nice pool, stay elsewhere. Location was great though and the drinks at the bar were good as well.
Very clean thoughout the hotel and in the room. Air conditioning worked very well on a hot evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Did not eat at the bistro but the bar bites and breakfast options looked fine.Small parking lot and when we returned to the hotel very late on there were only 3 spaces left.Did not use the pool but it looked clean and well maintained. Ice machine on our floor was only working the very first time we needed ice. Would recommend this hotel to anyone needing comfortable beds, clean room and nice staff.
Overall our experience staying at the Courtyard Marriott Newark was good. We booked a room with Jacuzzi and it was very human and not clean room. Next day we change the room and it was much better experience. Other then that, the service is great, perfect for meetings and reunion events. All staff are welcome and nice to talk to. Big Thank You to Annette, sales manager, to accommodate our big wedding group of people without any issues and for her prompt respond to any changes/requests.
The building was under construction, so some things were understandable (no pool, some ice machines not working). The internet speed/service was poor though. My daughter was sad that the Disney channel was not included in the TV line up. The room was clean, but the heater was very noisy and the beds were uncomfortable. Staff was kind and willing to do what they could to help.
I loved this hotel! Very clean with a hot tub in the room like I wanted. My room was on the bottom floor with a sliding door (which was perfect for a smoker like myself), they have a patio with chairs and tables, and its all closed in for privacy. They were very polite and helpful at the main desk. Plus it sits right beside Texas roadhouse which is where I went to eat. This hotel was more than I expected for the price. Very satisfied!
The hotel is set up good, very friendly staff at check in, maids were very nice, and morning breakfast was hot and ready when I got there. the room will do very nicely, not too loud, hot one day and cool the next- heating/ac worked great-no problems. gentleman working the desk was very nice.
Myself, my wife and our children stayed here for one night. We were given a quote over the phone that matched the price given when we booked the room and when we paid at check out. The pool area was very clean, as well as the gym. Our room was very clean and spacious. The mattresses and pillows were very clean and so comfortable. Also, our toddler left a toy behind. When we notified the hotel they searched for it and called to let us know they had found it. From the over the phone quote to check in to check out and beyond the customer service was friendly, professional and accommodating. We will definitely be coming back to this hotel in the near future.
Our daughter and son-in-law booked a block of rooms at this hotel for their wedding guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable and they assisted us with handing out hospitality bags to our guests. We held a going away breakfast on the morning after the wedding and the food was spectacular and the service was outstanding!!! Annette was a dream to work with when we were making the plans for our stay. I highly recommend this Marriott property if you are hosting an event in this area of Ohio.
While I generally prefer not to travel, the staff at the Newark Marriott Courtyard always make my stays pleasant and comfortable. They always appear to be genuinely interested in meeting my needs to ensure my stay is pleasant and comfortable. I appreciate this the most about staying at this hotel. In my opinion this core competency gives this hotel a leg up on many of the others in the area.
After a long day of driving to pick up my daughter from college, this hotel had everything I needed immediately available with no thought or effort required by me (with the hotel even indicating that I was eligible for a better discount). I slept wonderfully and woke to have a great breakfast and coffee from the lobby that I brought up to my room so I could also check on email. All in all, an extremely pleasant and effortless stay!
It was an unplanned trip for my granddaughter on the 4th of July weekend. We had no hotel for our stay over night and funds were limited. I looked on Expedia, Trip???, and then I looked up Hotwire and found this hotel with the lowest price in comparison to all the other hotels in the area. The room was very clean, classy and the location was perfect for us.My only complaint would be that the breakfast bar was limited and I don’t like Starbucks coffee but there is a McDonalds right across the parking lot so I really can’t complain to much about this either. It was perfect. Thank you!
We stayed here overnight - my toddler son, my husband and me. We only stayed one night but I was very pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel and our room. We stayed in one of the rooms with a king-sized bed. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had everything we could have asked for in our short stay. I would definitely stay here again and wish I couldve stayed longer!
Wonderful hotel, great location next to the McDonalds & Texas Roadhouse. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, & quiet. The smart TV was a nice surprise. We will stay again if we are in the area, and I highly recommend staying here. The pool area was nice, was a little disappointing to not have a hot tub, but their fitness center was awesome. The only thing is there is no continental breakfast, there is a Starbucks inside though.
The staff at The Courtyard were very nice and courteous. Our room was very clean, the Hotel it self was clean. The only thing I can say that may need improvement is the blankets and sheets are very rough. The pool was clean with plenty of towls, water temperature could of been warmer, very relaxing area.I would definitely stay here again.
Overall, the hotel is OK. We would stay there again. However the beds are not comfortable compared to full-service Marriott hotels. Its located next-door to the McDonalds drive-through. They created some noise issues. For they were noises in the hallways and from the floor above. It was OK. The biggest problem with the beds. We had some problems with connection to the Internet. It was resolved. The staff was wonderful. It would be nice if they included COFFEE in the lobby area. None of the flyers would make me hesitate to book with Marriott courtyard again. However I would hope that they improve their beds.
I needed a room for my dog and I and when I got there, the attendant said no problem and no extra charge. In the morning, a ride woman told me there would be an extra $75 charge. And wanted to know who my attendant was so she could get him in trouble. I told her I will be giving a bad review and she just looked at me and flatly refused to refund the pet money I was unfairly charged. Bad manager
The Courtyard by Marriott in Newark is so convenient to the Newark, Granville, Pataskala and even Columbus areas you canpick a better location to stay! The hotel offers Great Staff with friendly faces and the amenities are Awesome too! Ive stayed multiple times and enjoyed each one with comfortable clean rooms! McDonalds is right across the drive way and Texas Roadhouse sits right beside it which makes meeting family and friends for dinner easy and Fun! They offer a great outdoor sitting area fenced in for children and its connected to the indoor pool which has great window views to the outside! The pool itself could use an update but still usable and very comfortable for several small families! So happy to find a Great place to stay which offers so much for an affordable price!
The extra outlets were wonderful for charging all of our equipment.Other than the gentleman I called who would not look up my Marriott number, everyone was extremely friendly and the service was great. The hotel appeared clean and accommodating. The pool is very pretty.Merry C.
There are cheaper options in the Newark area that wont rent rooms directly above a pool where you can hear everything that goes on in the pool. And these other hotels provide a continental breakfast of the same caliber of the 3 dollar pastries offered at the Couryard for free!
This hotel is lacking compared to other Marriott properties. I will start with the things that I think are most important to someone who spends 100+ nights in a hotel each year and work my way down:1. The hot water supply in the shower is inconsistent in my experience. I have had to take cold showers in the morning on at least 3 separate occasions, and that is a terrible way to start ones day.2. The rooms occasionally have a musty smell that is noticeable enough to make me change rooms.3. Some of the rooms do not have thermostats, and the temperature can only be controlled on the register directly4. The workout room is way too small. There are only two treadmills.I will say that the staff is very friendly and helps when they can. I think that this is just an old property that is in need of updating. Its not bad enough that you cant stay here, but I would pick other Marriott properties if I had a choice.
Marriott offered a really great rate for my group. The hotel was very clean and the staff were great. But a real lack of breakfast choices was the biggest problem. Made use of the fitness center. the room was nice, but the internet service was sub-par. On all other fronts I was pleased with my stay. Thank you.
I was attending Kenyon Colleges Parents Weekend and stayed at this wonderful hotel. The trip to the college is about 30 minutes roundtrip, but with a limited number of good hotels near the college this was a good choice. Room was spacious with a very comfortable beds and lots of terrific pillows. I arrived early and a pleasant clerk was able to check me in. The only downside is the bathroom needs some updating and its layout is a bit awkward. I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.
Large comfy rooms. Big bathroom with a great shower. Good bed. Quiet. Starbucks coffee in the lobby. Staff are always knowledgeable, capable and pleasant. Desk staff provided all the help/suggestions we needed. John recommended the newly opened Peony Bistro, a short walk from the hotel. Best asian fusion cuisine ever. You gotta try it. I always stay at this Marriott when Im in town - it has it all - good rooms, great staff, close to the highway, green - and a hidden gem - a bike/walking path on the he north side of the hotel.
This hotel is undergoing major renovations which I was unaware of when booking my stay for the holiday. There was debris all through the hallways and work being done on our floor during our stay. The stairwells were marked with spray paint and debris everywhere. I’m pregnant and had to haul my 50 lb luggage bag up the stairs because their elevator was broken which they said would be fixed in a couple of days but then it turned into it’ll be fixed next week and there was no one to help with our bags. I had a migraine one day and there was someone hammering for a good hour which did not help my head at all. Parking was sparse because of the amount of construction vehicles and shipping crates. Horrible stay and it was way overpriced for the condition the hotel is in. We were extremely disappointed and we’ll definitely stay elsewhere next time. I’d suggest anyone considering staying, calling to ask the state of the hotel since it was not advertised when booking.
I stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend for a wedding. The facilities are all very clean and modern. The lobby/entrance is modern, there is plenty of room to sit, an area to work on a laptop with power outlets, and breakfast can be purchased in the morning and dinner at night. The staff were all very polite and professional. Our room was comfortable and clean. The pool and spa were clean and relaxing. The fitness room was very clean. There is an outdoor patio/courtyard that is walled in which gives it a more private feel. We spent a lot of time sitting outside in the courtyard. This place is excellent, and less expensive than other nearby establishments with fewer amenities. I would definitely stay here again. Management and staff are doing an excellent job here in my opinion.
This has to be the worst marriot property I have ever stayed at and i spend almost half of time in marriot hotels. Marriot International should kick this franchise to the curb. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation and it barley tells you that before booking. With the renovation half of the parking lot is shut down leaving very little parking for the hotel and forcing you to park in a lot not connected to the hotel. I was placed in a renovatedroom and to call the room renovated is an insult to actual renovations. There is nothing more done than minor face lift with new carpet furniture and shower. The tile in the bathroom is old and very outdated . In addition to the rook being uloutdated and the parking situation there was cleanness issues with the room as well. The furniture is scratched, and the door in the bathroom would not close. For around $100 a night this hotel should a ashamed. This hotel is not at all up to the standards I have to expect from marriot and is more line with the standards of a motel 8 or best western
My family met in Newark for my husbands burial service in June. Our extended family from out-of-town needed seven rooms for four nights. The rooms were clean and well-equipped. The lobby was perfect for meeting with friends and family who stopped by to visit during our stay. The hotel allowed us to use the conference room for our catered luncheon after the service. The staff provided ice and pitchers of water. The room accomodated our party of 40 nicely. The manager and staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful.
Really nice hotel and good location. Would have been a five, except for two things. First may have been specific to that room. There was a strange strut that was so close to the toilet that it blocked your right leg somewhat. It seemed like maybe it had been moved to make more space between the toilet and shower maybe? The other reason which is my main ding is my usual complaint, updating rooms for todays technology. There is no plugs on top of the night stand and not enough on the desk. Also no USB jacks. Some hotels have made this simple and seemingly cheap upgrade that makes using your phone as an alarm and keeping it fully charged simpler.
This site is quite acceptable neat and tidy (I personally dont like the colour scheme its not relaxing but its a place to sleep). Check In was good the lady was exceptionally nice and considerate also said hi and asked how things were when I was on my way out which I havent had before.Fire Alarm went off next morning but was a false alarm, one guest had a 2 page list of complaints I suspect that he was trying to get something for nothing over really trivial items incl the fire alarm ?? some people it happened at 1030am.Room rate is ok for what you get (Im not a fan of all the taxes imposed in the US on hotel rooms but not the hotels fault)....Bathroom was functional and did the job its probably will need some TLC soon though.Internet is what you would expect from any hotel. My main concern is the billing side of things Im currently unsure who is at fault here be it the Hotel or the bank so Ive chosen to remain neutral until it posts but its about $30-40 more than it should be (Hope when it posts it will correct it) and yes the exchange is taken into consideration the error is still there.Location is ok close to Texas Roadhouse, McDonalds, Gas Station and other eatery. Noise wise really was a non event you arent right on the road so there is a little buffer.Issues were minor and just little thing there were inconsiderate guests one above and across the hall which happens everywhere I did not make an issue because the guys at the hotel arent responsible other guests need to realise Im paying like others to enjoy the hotel in peace YOU NEED TO CONTROL YOUR HORRIBLE CHILDREN !!!!! not the hotel staff.I would stay there again if the rate was right I would not pay more for this hotel than $100 per night.I did not have breakfast and did not use the Dining area.
We always stay at the Courtyard Marriott Newark-Granville whenever were in town. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the rooms are nice and clean - very spacious, with comfy beds, strong/hot showers, fluffy towels, in-room coffeemaker and coffee, and even a little fridge. Internet is free and the desk in the room is perfect if we need to do work while were there. You can buy snacks, more toiletries, and drinks in the lobby shop, and they even have a mini restaurant if you want cooked food. The location is convenient from the highway and also for any activities in the area, whether youre visiting on business or for weddings/family events. If youre planning a wedding, the staff who helps you coordinate are so friendly, organized, and very experienced with setting up rooms for the bride and groom, and also family/guest blocks, and they have plenty of great suggestions for local shops/events/restaurants for your wedding guests. We look forward to our next visit!
My wife, daughter and I arrived late after a family function. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and given our keys. Once off the elevator we noticed that the hallways seemed dark and dismal. We got to our room and it smelled musty. The toilet in our bathroom ran nonstop. The bathroom over all was in poor maintenance. The Linens for the sofa bed were incomplete as they do not include a pillow. The bed has four pillows but my wife and I are used to sleeping with multiple pillows. We each gave one to our daughter. After a night of sleeping in a musty smelling room we had a raw feeling in our throats which dissipated within a couple of hours of waking. I booked a room at the Marriott Courtyard because we have had such great experiences at all the other properties. This property was a sore disappointment and definitely not up to Marriott standards. I would never stay here again.
Awesome place to stay. They were very nice and prompt. My room was big. They even have a smart TV with YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, etc. on it (never seen that in a hotel before). The fridge was hidden so I didnt even know there was one and microwave is downstairs in the common area which is huge and filled with magazines, books, and another big tv. They also serve food and alcohol which is always a boon in a hotel 😉. The food portion sizes are big too.
Typical Courtyard. Not new but very clean and comfortable. My biggest complaint is the absence of electrical outlets bedside. There were two of us traveling and not sufficient places to charge electronics overnight. I dont think its a realistic expectation to assume guests will move furniture and bring their own power outlet strips to charge their phones/watches overnight. Beds were great, plenty of clean fresh linens. BUT, who really wants to see whats behind a hotel night stand?
I think they invested all their money in making the lobby so nice that they neglected the rooms. Rooms are old and outdated, beds are awful (creaky and uncomfortable), air conditioner is exceedingly loud. Breakfast is not included. Id rather have free breakfast than a TV or desk in my room.
From the moment we walked in, we knew this would be a pleasant stay. We were greeted pleasantly and checked in with no hassles. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed. We grabbed a quick breakfast on the way out the next morning, and it was excellent and reasonably priced. The Courtyard Newark Granville is only a few minutes away from Denison, and I highly recommend it for Denison visitors.
I hesitate to write my review for fear that more people will find this hotel and reservations will be harder to come by. This Courtyard is the only place we will stay when visiting Granville/Denison Univ. The hotel is always clean, welcoming and accommodating. The staff is always a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend this hotel.
Unfortunately, this Marriott is not great - subpar room (we were not given the room we reserved and were told the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do), subpar service, terrible mattress/box spring - felt like we were sleeping in a hammock close to the ground :(.
I stayed here 3 months for work. The employees were GREAT! Ones to mention: Thomas, the gm, was friendly and always asked how my day was; Nicole, at front desk, was wonderful and made sure I had the same room each week as requested; Shena ( hope I spelled her name right), desk manager, was so helpful when i had a billing issue; and the young man who carried my bags upstairs when the elevator wasnt working. Wow, what customer service! I will be back next year and know Ill be taken care of. The only thing Id like to see is breakfast included. But Id definitely recommend to anyone traveling in the area!!
Frankly, I was worried to book a hotel with 3.5 stars average but I do not regret for going with this hotel.Little did know that all rooms are newly renovated, so you get a 5 stars experience. The view of the falls is amazing as well.Upon doing lots of research, this is probably the best location to stay in while in Niagara.
From the moment I stepped inside this hotel, the front desk help and housekeeping staff were very helpful and curteous. Special requests were met with a smile. Room was spotless,as was the entire hotel. I had previously stayed at a hotel that was almost twice the cost per room.Upon a recommendation from a local friend, I decided to try this hotel, this trip.I was very happy with my stay and will be returning.
This location is not ideal for any outdoor activities - that is, no walks or runs from the hotel- but is a good, easy access, location just off the highway. Our room overlooked the McDonalds parking lot. However, the lobby is very updated, clean and welcoming. Our room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. Well stay again.
Everything was great at the Granville- We checked in late - after a stressful day of college visits with our daughter. The front desk was prompt, efficient and friendly -My daughter needed an extra blanket - and I had two choices - pick it up from the front desk or have housekeeping deliver it (I was standing at the front desk, so opted for the first). When I bought a bottle of wine, the front desk person walked over to the bar and brought me two wine glasses - without me asking. The room was clean and modern.I could not have asked for anything more...
The hotel was the best Ive ever stayed in. It was clean, modern, well-appointed and the staff was very attentive. We enjoyed the pool and fitness room. I wish breakfast had been included in price, but there is an on-site bistro. Only down side was the road was closed just past the hotel, necessitating following a detour every time we went out headed into town.
Everything was fine until the fire alarm went off.....at 2AM.... The Fire Department should have been turning the corner on two wheels, but they mozied on down, took plenty of time to go in and took plenty of time to get the alarm off. We got to return about 30-45 mins later. After returning to my room, I was about asleep, then then pounding was in the room next to me, which I later learned was the boiler room. All types of mechanical noises and banging occurred off and on for quite a while. Needless to say, I got little sleep and was very frustrated. I learned later that day that coworkers of mine stayed at the same place a couple of months ago and also had a fire alarm incident.... I doubt Ill be staying there again...
Good amenities and location. Could use some updating in the rooms. The AC unit is right next to the desk and makes the desk unusable if the air is blowing. The rooms are clean and the staff is exceptionally nice and welcoming. Overall a great place to stop over for a short business trip.
Stayed here a few nights before with no problems but the other night was an issue. Around 3 am my SO and I were laying in bed sleeping when a housekeeper walked in. I have never had someone walk in like that anywhere and I never would have expected it here. The situation was quickly resolved thanks for the polite front desk employee but after that night I dont think Ill be back.
Luxurious accommodations! Convenient location near fining and quick access to interstate. My room was beautiful with a sumptuous king bed with crisp linens. Free Internet that I could actually access helped me get ready for business meeting the following day. Hot breakfast the next morning including specialty coffee got my day started right. Will definitely return.
If you are coming to Newark, OH then this hotel is a great choice. Located within walking distance of several restaurants. For convenience, the in-house Bistro serves breakfast and dinner options that are healthy and taste good too. Quick access to the local highway and a short drive from any necessary shopping you may need. The staff are friendly and professional. I had no issues during my stay and the few questions I did have they were able to answer quickly and with a smile.
Having stayed at the Courtyard Newark before, I knew what to expect. Everything was perfect. The staff are welcoming and friendly; the rooms are clean and comfortable. I have stayed her previously and plan on staying here everytime we visit our daughter at Denison for the next 4 years.
The staff at this location are nothing short of amazing. From reserving the room, to check-in, to check-out and everything in between - they were fantastic! Nice, courteous, helpful and caring. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone traveling to that area.
Late in the evening, the desk person guided me on the phone to the location. Very friendly check in.I asked for heavy cream in my coffee the first morning, but the restaurant did not the provide that. The next morning, however, the server remembered me and had purchased heavy cream! That is over and above and was very much appreciated. The mattress in my room could use an update. The free internet is slow and terrible.
The courtyard hotel in Newark Granville was a very, very pleasant surprise. Everything about it was excellent. The staff was as helpful as they could be. The room was clean. The pool area was clean and had unlimited towels. Overall, just a terrific place. We stayed for two days.
Overall, the hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful upon check-in. The internet didnt work at first, but after working on it for about 20 minutes it worked. I thought there was a complimentary breakfast per the internet, but later found out there was a bistro to purchase breakfast. Went to the conveniently located Mickie Ds instead and had a delightful breakfast. I even won a free Frappe while playing Monopoly.
I come here specifically because they have an elevator so that I don’t have to walk up and down stairs with my bad knees. Today the elevator is not working and was not working last night and will not be working until tomorrow. This is unacceptable! I should not have to suffer pain when I’m on vacation because they did not properly maintain this vital amenity. I also saw other prior with mobility issues struggling with the stairs.
Nicest hotel ive ever stayed in. The staff upgraded our room and out us in kne woth a whirlpool on a last minute booking. They have a bar area for ordering drinks and foods and a market store for other items. Close to nice resturants and rhey have outside patios and balcony. Will be staying again.
The staff was amazing! Super helpful and friendly. We witnessed the staff being very poised in handling a angry guest which made us feel safe and secure staying there! I even left my ipad charger in my room after check out. I called when I got home and realized it, and the staff promised me a return call after they researched it. 10 minutes later I was arranging the mailing of the charger back to me! So very helpful!! We will be back!
The hotel is one of the nicest hotels in Newark, however I feel they “nickle and dime” you to death. Each cup of coffee is $3 to $5 in the lobby when most hotels offer complimentary coffee in their hotel. At least give your guests a voucher for coffee! I spent $15 just buying coffee for my family in the morning after paying for two rooms for accommodations.
I feel like this hotel has gone backwards in customer service and quality of stay. This used to be the best hotel in Newark. It all starts with the front desk and ends there as well. Im not going to go into many more specifics but if you advertise a pool have it open on weekends. If you advertise a business area make sure the computers work. If you have a guest that has chosen your hotel over all the others, perhaps smile and welcome them whether they are a Marriott rewards guest or not (which I am).. Or perhaps asked how their stay was when they hand you the key at checkout. A good response is not have a good one. I guess I just did not expect an average experience at this hotel based on prior stays there.
I have stayed here a few times now and while it is probably the best option Right in Newark, I dont love this hotel. Both times I stayed here I had problems with rooms smelling like cigarette smoke. That really annoys me. It is sad too, because I really like the service staff here. I almost gave them 4 stars just for the awesome staff.
This is a decent hotel. Its one of, only 4, hotels in the Newark area that Ill stay at. Of those, this is the least expensive and the quality is ok, too. However, the sliding door to the patio would not lock and was only secured by a safety bar. The wire covers that run from the lamps to the outlets were loose and just looked disheveled. Other than those things, it wasnt bad. I would stay again, but its not my first choice.
Im in the military and was transferring from the west coast to the east coast and chose this placed based on booking.com and tripadvisor.com ratings as well as government benefits. It was everything the reports stated. Very clean, quiet, comfortable and up-to-date. I would definitely be staying here again on return visits to the west of the Mississippi.
I explained to the manager that there was a very loud noise being created ALL NIGHT LONG, it sounded like a clothing dryer running w a shoe inside and constant banging. I did not call the desk in the middle of the night, because what were we going to do, change rooms?????? When I complained in the morning, he did nothing about it except say he will check into it. We provided him w/ a recording of the noise and he still said he had to check into it instead of refunding us for a night that we cold not sleep; it actually got to where it felt like torture. Also, there was a serious problem w the ice machine in the hall where you walked next to it - there is two hoses draining directly into a larger one that is in the floor, very loud and one could actually reach their hands in the water as it is a few inches away from the larger hose. It is very unsightly and could be a problem, I am sure it would NOT pass an inspection!! I am shocked by all this as usually Marriott hotels are very good and quite satisfactory.
Nice facility. Let us check in early. Electric went off while we were out to dinner and did not come back on until the middle of the night. Would have been nice to have an offer of some type of compensation for the inconvenience since we were unable to use the pool or gym. Not even the offer of a cookie LOL
The professional staff at Courtyard helped make our stay an enjoyable one. Their willingness to acknowledge our needs is appreciated. The well maintained facility makes a return visit probable. Thanks again to the staff for accommodating our needs and making us feel like valued guests!
Close by to ultimate destination, but not much happening in Newark on a rainy Thursday night. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Dined at bar in Bistro which offers only microwaved prepped food, which was OK, but hardly Bistro/restaurant quality. Young lady server/cook (zapper)/bartender was extremely personable and solicitous.
It works...fairly priced; Nice NEW loby with Starbucks coffee. Beds are a little hard for me but the rooms are nice and quiet. Internet worked well. Flat Pnl TV and refrig in the room, can get a Microwave if you need it. Easy to find, right off the freeway, and close to everything you need. I recomend dining at the City BBQ, right across the street. Very well priced and the food is....AWESOME!!!!
You will be hard pressed to find a hotel that is this clean and orderly. The staff cannot be beat on helpfulness. The mattresses were new but are soft pillow tops and incredibly Uncomfortable. The highway noise is awful so be sure to request a room on the parking lot side of the building.
Could use the vacuum on the stairs and hallways. Lack of personal item in The Market. Rooms where clean, sheets very thin, towels scratchy. Overall this Marriot starting to get the Days in feel. Folks drinking beer on the tailgate out side, face jewelry, tattooed staff etc. Biggest issue several staff members where hotel costs that didnt fit. Several sizes to big, looked very tacky. Think Marriot need to raise what they pay the help.
I visited the Courtyard Newark Granville as part of a business requirement. Our company was having an Strategic Planning Meeting in the main conference room. It was very nice to be right on sight. I have a busy and stressful job but being able to escape to a peaceful and clean room with a great tub at the end of the day made it also a great getaway! I cant say enough wonderful things!
I really enjoyed my stay at the Courtyard Marriott in Newark. The location is awesome because I have a child at Denison University and the various restaurants in the area was convenient for me. The staff was so friendly and helpful that I will definitely stay at this hotel again along with tell my family and friends that this is a great hotel to stay at when in the area.
Bad stay. I stay over 150 nights in marriott hotels each year so i know a good place when i see one. in this place we had many problems with the room door cards. at least four times the cards did not open the door. one time there was a maintenance man walking down the hall and he let us in without even so much checking who we were or showing our id. that is not right. he should have at least verified that we were in that room. The heat only worked on one side which made it cold in the room.
Weve traveled here the last year and a half on business and have enjoyed our stay at this property very much! We tried one other place because someone told us to try it but we didnt like it nearly as well as this property so we came back after just one nites stay at the other place! All the employees of this property are very nice and take good care of us! We will always stay at this property when on business!
Pretty nifty place. They have a minifridge. The garbage cans are pretty small, and the pool water tastes a little salty, but thats about my only complaint. Its small and nearby a lot of places (eateries mostly, but living in Ohio youd know that, going out, theres never much to do besides eat). Overall if youre looking for a place to spend a few days while in town, you cant go wrong.
We were in town for Thanksgiving and did not arrive to check in till after 900...the staff was upbeat and friendly, even offering to hold a key for a person staying with us that was not arriving till after 1 am.Very clean rooms and building in general....the location has easy access to the eway and many restaurant chains within walking distance.
Room was clean and the hotel staff was friendly. There was some peeling wallpaper in the room that had been badly patched several times from the looks of it. The room we were given was also right next to the elevator which was noisy with traffic and you could hear the hum of the elevator each time it was used while trying to sleep.

2022-04-12Everything you’d expect for a Marriott brand. Easy access to local interstate and roads. Close proximity to gas stations, fast food, and sit-down restaurants. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was a little tight in some spaces (only 16-24 inches between furniture in walkway), but overall it was comfortable. Bed left a little to be desired, but that’s likely my personal tastes. The only weird thing was a column in the corner of the bathroom closest to the toilet. It makes it impossible for larger-than-average people to use the restroom normally. (You can see it just to one side of the photos I’ve provided.) You can tell it wasn’t originally intended to be there because they cut the light switch plate in half.

2021-12-22Overall a good facility. Rooms clean, staff very friendly and welcoming. If you are a light sleeper, I would suggest asking for an even number room as these face the parking lot rather than the highway. Lots of highway noise from the odd numbered rooms.

2021-11-28We had to travel to Ohio due to a tragic family emergency, I knew we would need a hotel room. since I had to cut into the Christmas fund to make this trip I figured we could at least get a nice room with a pool. Well I was never notified that the pool was broke when making a reservation. My son also found a sock under one of the beds and there was wrappers under the dresser.Just all around not a good experience.

2021-09-21Overall the stay was good. The bed was great if you like a hard mattress. I slept like I was hibernating. I woke up on the first morning and found a huge spider in my bathroom. Housekeeping came and got rid of it immediately. The room lacks facial tissues and I did not see a hair dryer either, but beyond that the rooms are very nice. Love the walk in shower, though my father hated that there were no grab bars inside. He has fears of falling ever since he broke his hip. I had shower shoes, so it was no issue for me. Also, the lack of bars in the shower means there is no place to hang your wash cloth. Shower had great pressure, but runs on the hot side. Dont bother with the food there unless you want to overpay for mediocre pre-made food. They do have Starbucks coffee, though.

2021-12-21Nice friendly staff, but the hotel needs to be updated. The carpet looks old and worn and the rooms are in need of an update. This is not what you would expect from Marriott property. I will not return.

2022-04-20Nice little hotel. We did not live far. Just a cute place to take the kids to swim indoors.

2021-06-12The staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. The property (parking lot, lobby, and room) were clean and well maintained. There is a heated pool and small fitness room available to guests. Rooms have showers, but no bathtubs. There is no dining services at this hotel, but they do sell snacks/soda and there are several dining options within walking distance. The hotel was convenient to where we had to be and we left having no complaints.

2021-06-18My stay was extremely pleasant. The staff was wonderful and the rooms were quiet and clean. I thought the breakfast items looked great but a little too expensive. Luckily, there were other nearby options. I will definitely stay here again!
