I have been here many times, particularly when I was a student at BGSU Firelands. Ive stopped in a few times since graduation and everything is still great - the food, service, general vibe. Costa Azul is a cozy Mexican restaurant with kind people. I especially remember one waiter, Salvador. He is always quick to help and quite friendly. I am surprised to see so many negative reviews because I have never had a bad experience here. Ive brought many friends with me over the years to this place and they all enjoy themselves. I recommend stopping in if you have the chance!
Great food. we will definately go back again. The place was packed and we sat by the front counter... the take out orders were non-stop the entire time we were there. A great indication that they food we were going to eat would be good!!! The food came out and exceeded my expectations. It was out 1st time there and we loved it! I got the fajita taco salad. OUTSTANDING. As we were leaving I noticed several major food award and peoples choice awards on the wall. They even have patio dining. We chose to eat inside where it was cool.see ya again soon.
Had a wonderful meal. The server was extremely kind and we had a wonderful experience. Their margaritas are fantastic. The food was hot and cooked very well and tasted excellent! Wonderful atmosphere also. Felt safe even during the pandemic, guests were screen checked at the door. Would recommend to everyone I know.
This was seriously some of the most delicious Mexican food I’ve ever eaten!!! My husband and I are driving back to NY from our road trip and were looking for fast food near our hotel. This was 15 minutes from our hotel and NOT fast food, so we decided to give it a shot. We called to do a pick up. We ordered enchiladas, tacos, as well as a tamale and chile relleno. EVERYTHING was so delicious. I especially love their rice!!!
Excellent, very authentic food that is very reasonably priced. The service was very prompt and friendly. We ended up eating here twice during our stay because half of our party wanted to try their second choices from the menu! The Ohio Special combo (chicken tamale, chimichanga, relleno, and burrito) is an awesome deal and what Id recommend!
I gave it 2 stars only because it was quick and cheap. The food was a major let down. We ordered takeout (lunch) as we sat in the parking lot because our son was sleeping. Food was ready within 10 mins. I ordered beef tacos, my wife ordered the chicken flautas. The tacos were just ground beef, a little cheese and lettuce. No flavor at all to the meat, just straight ground beef. My wife’s flautas were so terribly small with hardly any meat inside. I’ve never seen a restaurant make them so small. Frozen boxed fautas from Walmart are almost twice the size and have 3 times the meat.I believe the only people giving this place high reviews are the ones who are drunk.
Service is fantastic every time I come here the only thing I wish was a little more consistent is the seasoning on their Fajitas the Texan fajita to be exact it’s hit or miss but overall great experience make sure you ask for Jarritos Mexican soda delicious! Cheese dip was a hit as well!
The place was busy, colder than meat locker...had to get jacket from car. We arrived 1pm ish and the place cleared out. Salsa was like tomato juice, I did taste cilantro. Needed seasoning. Chips were not freshly made and suspect from bag. Husband has burritos...size of japanese cucumber. No seasonings on food. I had steak fijatas...lacked seasonings and meat hard. Portions was adequate for lunch portion at 8.99 had about 3 tablespoons of guacamole. Service was cold...we went to counter to get bill as our server was in back and never checked on us once other employee dropped off our plates. 2nd person ran my card and walked away leaving me at counter and went back to sitting at a table. Disappointed.
Good daiquiris and margaritas. Food and drinks came out within 10 minutes, my girlfriends wood was great (carne de asada), I got a steak burrito and it was alright, I would definitely get her choice if we were to go again. $40 total for 2 meals and drinks would recommend for a cheap nice dinner option
Disappointed. Service was great, the food was bland. Full disclosure for the sake of transparency, Im used to traditional Mexican food made with authentic herbs and spices. This location serves food to accommodate a wider audience. To top it off there was no horchata being served here. A Mexican restaurant with no horchata..... That alone was - 1 star.
Literally the best Mexican food I’ve had. The decorations are very lively and colorful and made for a great atmosphere. The service was also great and the employees were very sweet! Prices are super reasonable too. I was very happy eating here and wish I lived closer so I could come again and again.
Hands down the finest authentic Mexican cuisine in northern Ohio, that means you Cleveland and Toledo. Menu is extensive without being obnoxious. Every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients, there is nothing that tastes out of a jar The staff is prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. The food arrives beautifully plated, hot and delicious. The prices are appealing and well within the budget of even the most frugal customer.
The margaritas are strong but taste terrible. The rice is ok and the wet burrito was disappointing. The calamari was not good but seafood burrito was acceptable. The enchiladas were half way decent. Might be good if you dont get out of the area and try new restaurants. Service was good.
Fast, Friendly and the food was amazing! Well worth every penny! I will be coming back more often! Only thing is for a Mexican restaurant their mixed drinks were not very strong like the other ones I have experienced. So I wouldnt drink with them its a rip off but the food definitely was delicious!
This was my first time eating at an authentic Mexican restaurant and I loved it! The waitress was very nice and she helped me pick their best menu items. This is a mom and pop business so their prices were a little steep but the food was well worth the money. Some of the waiters dont speak very good English but, youre in a real Mexican restaurant! The restaurant was packed with people laughing and dining and that is how you can tell there is good customer service. Every night all the tables are filled. I give Costa Azul a round of applause and my strong recommendation!
Date of Visit : Friday, May 17, 2019We had a great visit to this restaurant and nothing close to any of the complaints that others may have mentioned. Our meals were huge, the food was freshly made for us, the quality of ingredients were great. The flavours were all very good. This is a great mexican restaurant with great food. The margaritas were delicious and heavy handed. The service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive. The prices were very good. Very affordable. There is plenty of parking on site. The decor is very classic Mexican Restaurant. very bright and vibrant.ignore the negative reviews, and just enjoy a great mexican meal while you are in the area.
Omg the food was amazing. I couldnt finish my plate. The portions are large enough for leftovers.... The drinks are sinfully delicious and the desserts will have you wanting more... The atmosphere is just genuinely relaxing and it is so much better than fast-food and its less expensive...
Stars are given based on my first experience here and the food I was served. So I placed an order of sopa de pollo, which the description described it as generous chunks of chicken with tomato, onions, cilantro, rice and lime. When the soup came, first disappointment it was a small bowl unlike other Mexican places Ive been to. Thats fine, I understand different restaurant varies. 2nd disappointment, it looked like the order was wrong, it looked more like vegetable soup than chicken soup. So I waited for the waitress to return before starting my soup and she said chicken are in the base of the soup, I gotta dig. So as the pic shows, thats how generous the chicken were in the soup, they were more generous with the carrots than the chicken because carrots werent even in the description for the chicken soup. I had to look at the menu again and did a comparison and Im very sure now it was vegetable soup and they threw in some chicken. My soup had celery and squash in it too which was part of the description for vegetable soup. Lastly, they didnt include a spoon for my soup and I had to ask for one. We were the only ones in the restaurant, waiters and waitresses acted very sloppy. I personally wouldve given it a 2 but my bfs dish looked fine and the pricing for their food is reasonable. So I raised it and figured its just my luck today.
Good food and in my opinion, better than your typical Mexican restaurant. Menu was slightly different than most Mexican restaurants which was a nice change. I was impressed with the quality. Laid back and casual atmosphere along with friendly servers made my visit enjoyable.
A fairly inexpensive, typical mexican restaurant. We come here regularly and have never had bad service. Although we have tried take out from here before without much luck. Our order was wrong and cold. You cant go wrong when dining in, though. So we still recommend it.
We ate at Costa Azul after a trip to Kalahari and we were delighted with how delicious the food was. They start the table off with fresh corn chips and fresh house made salsa that has a slight spice to it. I had the Seafood Burrito (#70), my wife had the Chalupa and Taco (#??) and we both cleaned our plates! All of the ingredients were fresh and the entrees were a really good value. Kids meals were incredibly priced at $4.50 at the time of review. We will be back again when in the area.P.S. Beverages are Pepsi products (superior).
I was brand new to Ohio about 3 years ago and I only go to specific Mexican restaurants. At first I was skeptical but my fiancé told me how much he loves it there. I gave it a try and it was by far the BEST I’ve ever had. As always we get such wonderful servers and amazing food!!
Stopped in and had five $0.99 cent tacos. They had no flavor at all. The bill came to $9.38! I guess they charged me for the chips and salsa that I did not order {which were very stale and the salsa totally tasteless}. Or maybe the water was $4.00 a glass. Stay away. The service was good, but that was all that was good.
I like in Cuyahoga Falls but whenever I get to Cedar Point, this is our go-to spot. The prices are right, the staff is friendly and the food and beverages are always great. Typical American-Mexican fare with a little something extra - noticeable quality. I recommend the beef tacos - 3 for $6.50 and hearty and filling. Simpler the better.
We stopped by here on our way home from niagra falls, Canada. This meal was the best meal we had the entire vacation! Price is amazing! 2 adults with cheese dip appetizer, 2 meals, and a beer, only $27! I wish it was closer to us!! If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll be back!
Terrible service. I ordered takeout and the salsa in the Togo container broke open and left a mess all over my food and plastic bag. I asked for a new bag and the girl working up front rolled her eyes at me and acted like it was such an inconvenience. I was told that each of our orders would come with a bag of chips with salsa so we would get 2 bags of chips. When i saw that I only got 1 bag I asked about it and she rolled her eyes at me again and tried arguing with me then proceeded to go talk bad about me to 2 of her coworkers and they all looked at me and gave me dirty looks. Such rude staff, I will never go there again and it was one of my favorite places to eat.
Found strange things in my burrito and they would not replace or take it off my bill. Would not even allow me to use a 3 dollar coupon I had. All in all their customer service skills are ridiculous. I normally go there a few times a month but after this last time I do not think I will be back. The manager actually insulted me by insinuating that I was trying to get free food. That was not at all the case. I only expected to get what was not good or not edible made right. They refused to remake my burrito. Even the waitresss had attitude. Pay a little more and go to Patrons it is way better. I really used to like Costa azul spent a good bit of money their but their management had to have changed it is just not quality service anymore .
A nice small Mexican diner, I really enjoyed the food there. Service was nice and quick, and I had some awesome enchiladas! The vibe of the place is really cool and friendly and the food seems more authentic Mexican and less Ameri-Mexican than some Mexican restraunts. The portions are also really nice, not too huge but still pleeeenty of food and I was quite stuffed afterwards. 5/5 would eat here again if Im ever passing by after another trip to Cedar Point! (They also have a really cool 10% discount if you show your Cedar Point tickets!)
Awesome awesome awesome food! The best Mexican food Ive ever had from a restaurant, except the tortilla chips, but the salsa was great. I had the fajita quesodilla and DAYUM! It was bomb! After a long day at Cedar Point, it was just what we wanted, kids ate great too! Lots of choices and reasonable prices!
Asked how much a happy hour Margarita was, was quoted a price and then when the bill came it was literally $3 per drink over what he said it would cost. When asked about it, the server offered some lame excuse with no offer to correct the issue or even an apology. For what I paid I would have gotten a decent drink.Portions are tiny, well drinks suck. I dont remember recommend going there.
Flavorful authentic food! Try the chicken enchiladas, beans, and rice. It’s a classic executed perfectly. Also - if you like your food spicy, they will make it so hot that your nose runs (which if you like it hot like I do, it’s amazing). You have to ask for it to be made extra spicy though; I highly recommend it!
Love this place! Came to Sandusky for vacation and ended up here twice in a our week stay. Prices are great, food is amazing, service and ambience are authentic. We have nothing negative to say about Costa Azul. Seems to be where the locals eat which is great too. 5 minutes from Nickel Plate beach.
The food was hot and fast as always. However, the waitress was very demoralizing to us. We felt we were being very polite and understanding but she completely treated us with disrespect. We also received a strawberry daiquiri that had no alcohol in it.(not what we ordered).
First time here so of course I read the reviews. Alot of the reviews said fast, clean and friendly service. Well, they were correct about that. The restrooms were spotless. So, as a local guide I wish I could give them more stars... great job folks and awesome authentic food!
Ordered the. Quesadilla chicken fajita. It only had 2 tiny bites of chicken. The server tossed our silverware down and walked away. A different server came to our order she was nice. My husband got the fajitas with chicken steak and shrimp that he didnt order. He wanted the enchilada supreme. We wont be going back.
Summer hours in effect.Mon - Thurs 10AM - 10PMFri - Sat 10AM - 11PMTheyre inconsistent about to go orders, the manager gives us chips whenever we order guacamole to go.Whenever the manager isnt there they never give us chips.Asides from that, eating there is always a great experience.
I came to this restaurant twice a week for over a year. Always get the same thing faijtas one day me and a buddy ordered guacamole and cheese dip which were 2.99 each which is fine but we wanted more chips and salsa which they said were extra we laughed thinking it was a joke no they were serious so what were we supposed to eat with our $6 dips the guy said chips are 85 cents and it wasnt the cost it was the simple principal Ive never been to a Mexican place that charges for chips and salsa go to the one on 250 across from Andys they dont charge you and its better food I promise you
I do not understand how this restaurant is rated four stars?! The food was disgusting the steak was nothing but Gristle.. no flavor. There was no customer service whatsoever. I would highly recommend going to another Mexican restaurant because these stars for this one are not accurate
This was the most disgusting Mexican food. Tortillas must of came straight out of a freezer, not grilled, or heated, just cold and slimy. Guacamole was not fit to eat, beans were cold, and Chips had to of been laying there for a week. We got 4 to go orders at $67.00 and all the meals went in the trash...what a waste....
I went on a cedar point trip from Michigan with my boyfriend this past weekend. Per website: CEDAR POINT DISCOUNTShow your Cedar Point ticket and receive a 10% Discount on the same day your visit Cedar Point! (copied from website). When I told the waiter I had my tickets for the discount he asked me for my name tag. I was confused and showed him the tickets. When my boyfriend went up to pay he asked him if we worked at cedar point. My boyfriend told him no, we ae just visiting. Waiter said we gave you the discount this time but thats only given to the workers at cedar point not the visitors... Obviously not a big deal its 2-3 dollars off of an average bill but either way either theyre fake advertising for more clients or there is a lack of communication. Also they claim to be 100% authentic but give flour tortillas with food lol. Customer service: good, Food: okay.
If I could give it 0 stars I would! Worse place I have ever eaten at! The servers were EXTREMELY rude and they completely ignore you the entire time! We waited over 10 minutes just for silverware! We will not be returning. My advice to them is for them to get new servers that actually want to work and care about their customers.

2022-07-10Love the food, read the website time said 11, called to order takeout and wasn’t greeted very welcoming being that they closed at 1030 instead. I work food industry have most my life, I know those customers can be annoying, I really was trying to avoid being that guy. Would be nice if hours were fixed. Enjoyed the food, girl that greeted the me on the phone got to stay focused on the paycheck, not getting out of there 15 minutes earlier.

2022-05-05One of our favorite restaurants in Huron. In fact, we ate here as the last meal before all of our kids were born. It was a tradition after the first child. But their food is really good, and they have a ton of options to choose from. My kids LOVE the cheese sauce that they eat with the free nachos that give you. My wife is a fan of their fajitas, while I love their Pork Carnitas. The kids love to make their own soft shell tacos by ordering sides to tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, etc. The staff is always very nice.

2022-06-25I have eaten at this establishment for years. This was the worst food Ive ever had. Not just there but period! Still giving one star because the waitress was good ,and it wasnt her fault and I still tipped 5 on a one meal lunch. Couldnt even eat any of it,truly awful .

2022-03-11I ordered a fajita dinner with steak chicken and sausage off of door dash for $20 just for the food and I got 2 cups of fajita mix with half a cup of everything else super upset since portions in the restaurant would be almost 2 times this or more at ANY similar restaurant.

2022-06-22The food is old and absolutely disgusting. The vegetables were undercooked, the meat was burnt, dry, and hard, and the rice and beans were at least two weeks old. The proportions of the food for the price was a ripoff there was almost nothing on the plate. The wait staff were lazy and are liars, we waited 10 minutes to have our order taken and none of us received a refill. The owner is a liar and a coward. This place will be out of business by the end of the year.

2018-10-31Visited restaurant on a Tuesday at 12:30ish. Service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa while we waited a few minutes for our veggie fajitas with refried beans and rice to arrive. They were served hot and delicious. The restaurant felt cozy and very clean. Enjoyed listening to authentic Mexican music while dining. There is a nice sized bar to sit at and several TVs throughout the restaurant. We had a great experience as the staff were extremely attentive and courteous! We will return soon!

2022-05-09Ownership,employees all deserve a big hand. Food is always top notch and employees treat you like friends.
