Weve been here 3 times and everytime it has been great and awesome. The food was hot and the beer was great. Our server was awesome and very attentive and was always coming back to see if we needed anything. This place is awesome. We love this place and the location. We will be back more often.
Cornerstone is one of our go-to places. The food is excellent and I like that they have daily specials as well as the standard menu. The beer-onion soup is fantastic (basically like a French onion soup) and you have to try the Bavarian pretzel chicken! Its to die for! And the beer - the beer is excellent as well. They take their beer seriously and it shows. My husband loves Seven, which is an IPA. I love the Grindstone Gold, which is a lager. They have other rotating taps that are really good, too. Dont miss their pumpkin beer called Linuss Revenge. (How can you not love it with that name!?) Its my favorite pumpkin beer of all. Not too sweet or spicy - just right. The staff is super friendly and always gives great service. The other thing I love about Cornerstone is that besides beer they have an excellent wine list (not a huge list, but big enough and great quality) and they make excellent cocktails. Most breweries dont offer much if you dont want beer but Cornerstone excels at any time of beverage you want, which is great if you are dining with a crowd with varied tastes or are like me and what you drink depends on the day.
Food is OK, beer is good, but service is consistenly bad. Plus, the open-kitchen idea isnt the smartest choice in a small place with really poor ventilation.....its inevitable that youll stink like the kitchen when you leave! This place is highly overrated in an area desperate for decent food and service. Ive visited on different days/nights, and it always disappoints. Strongly urge other local eateries (like Mikes), with much better service, and where you dont have to shower after you leave!
When I asked for a beer list, they pointed t a blackboard across the room with several tables between myself and the blackboard, and they told me our current beers are listed on the blackboard and walked away. I walked across the room so I could see the list but it was just names. Nothing along if it a lager a stout or a porter. When the server came back, she asked if I decided on a beer, so I told her the list doesnt say anything about what style or flavor of beer they are. She said to ask her any questions and I said I just did. She asked what I normally like and when I answered she said we dont have anything you would like. We told the hostess we were leaving and went elsewhere and got much better service.
Ordered a bowl of soup with my burger only to taste more saltI have tasted on anything. After a couple of spoons full I couldno longer eat any more and set aside. I mention it to the witnessand she had no comment. I was surprises she left it on the bill andshe had no comment on that.
This place is awesome! The craft beers are fantastic and the breaded Cod fish sandwich is amazing! The waiters are super friendly and the all around experience is always, top notch!I would 💯% recommend this place to anyone !The location is awesome! Go check out Coe Lake after a beer and sandwich ! Oh and bring your kayak to the lake!
Loved the chipotle wrap. The onion rings are very tasty and mine were done perfectly. Staff is friendly and the service was quick. The beer surprised me- really good! Were definitely coming back.Update: had the leftover chipotle wrap this afternoon for lunch. It was still delicious. We were also given a suggestion of frying our leftover onion rings with a little butter and an egg... Yum! I highly recommend trying it.
I was there a couple of days ago. The food was great! I also had the Erie Blu berry beer and it was amazing!!!!! I normally dont like berry beers as they lack flavors. This beer however is full of flavor and just amazing to drink. I highly recommend it. I will definitely be back soon to try some of the other beers too.
When I first walked in, I didnt think too highly of the place. Our waitresses was an older & very sweet woman. She came to us, answered a few questions & recommended a few certain items on the menu. I got the buffalo wrap with the chips, & it was such a great lunch. I was full throughout the day and was very satisfied with the portion & price. Definitely coming back!
The food and service here is tremendous! The chicken quesadilla was stuffed and delicious. My husband had the Brewhouse Chicken Burger. The beer cheese sauce was amazing and paired great with the crunchy onion ring and a nice kick from the fresh jalapeño with an extremely tender chicken breast. Brian, our server, was extremely friendly and did an excellent job being very attentive. The place feels very homey and has a good selection of brews. Highly recommend!
This a great place to stop by for some dinner whether you live in Berea or just visiting. The beer is always good and the food is phenomenal. We especially like the buffalo chicken salad and poutine for an appetizer. The burgers are delicious and they also do smaller pizzas. Also, cant forget the pretzel chicken. The staff are friendly and so is the brewer. I highly recommend Cornerstone!
I like the Berea more than the Madison, good vibe. Really good service and I liked the few beers I had. The food is solid, good ingredients and generous portions. They have good burgers, but not much else on the menu is very exciting. I really like a good Beer Cheese at a brewery, maybe a beer cheese soup, and they dont do that here. But overall nice, friendly, and reasonably priced with good burgers. I just wish the menu was a little more adventurous.
Was pleasantly surprised with the Cornerstone Burger. Its how it would taste if you made it at home yourself. The Turkey Spinach Salad was fresh and the flavors worked very well together. No deli-cut slices here, just actually shredded turkey. The Chicken Quesadilla was great too. The Sour Cream and Pico de Gallo on it was a must.I wasnt in love with the side of Mashed Potatoes. They used real potatoes instead of instant ones which is nice but a little bit more butter, salt, and pepper would have made the difference.
Lately, the service has been subpar compared to most visits. Its rare that I have a bad experience. I thoroughly enjoy coming here, weekly at that. My food, lately is very hit or miss. Meaning, one visit my burger, fries and IPA will taste excellent. The next visit my burger is way over cooked, beer is not that cold, servers are new. Not sure why this is happening or maybe Im just having a string of bad luck.
Absolute Horrible Experience!!! We walk in they forget to put our name in and we are the only ones waiting. Then more people come in and start getting sat as we stand there! When we say something to the “hostess” gets irritated and the proceeds to complain about us to the waitresses in front of us. Finally after NOT being sat for 35 minutes we were told we had to wait for one of two tables to leave and one had paid but they didn’t want to disturb their conversation. They were just so rude. If your front of house service is any indication of how you operate...I think we’re good. We left after 40 minutes. Don’t waste your time on this place. It’s not worth the way they treat the customers.
Im not someone that gives out 5 stars a lot. I dont even do a lot of reviews, and when I do there mostly for negative reasons to tell people to avoid certain places. I can say with 100% certainty however that Cornerstone has earned my 5 star review. Great food, bear, and staff!
My wife is not a beer drinker but we had a,wonderful time at Cornerstone Brewery. She loved the Chicken Pesto sandwich chased with the Adult Root Beer Float. I loved the Beer-B-Que Pulled Pork Sandwich with the Seven . Great combination! Staff was friendly and met our every doing need. It was nice place to go as a couple or as a group. Look forward to our next visit.
Last time i ordered the young man double ordered my chicken for a normal chicken salad. Called back after paying for double chicken and they stated that my following order will be discounted the chicken. Called back to order again and was unable to get the discount after she just stated she would take my order! Not a fan of being ripped off. Mikes bar and grille down the street... better service.
This is the only brewery around me that is friendly to gluten free customers. At Cornerstone, they put something in the brewing process so the beer will stay gluten free. There food is great from salads to burgers/salmon, to my daughters favorite pizza. I like supporting local places.
Happened to just find Cornerstone while in the area and looking for somewhere to eat.The space was a bit cramped because of the Friday night rush, but it could possibly be setup a little better. The beer was fairly good, and the food was excellent.I think the biggest detractor from the whole visit was the hostess who seemed to be having a bad night and not wanting to speak or deal with anyone.Overall it was a good place to grab a bite and a beer and Id go back.
Not one for reviews, but this trip in today prompted a quick review. Cold shoulder vibe from my server. I came alone this visit. She seemed put out by the fact I was alone and already knew what I wanted to eat. She made me repeat my order three times. If I didnt already have my drink I would have walked out. Just not a warm fuzzy vibe from the staff today. Will go to grindstone next time.
Another town staple! Been coming here for close to 10 years. The service is always great, the soups are very good and change regularly, as do their own selection of beers (I highly recommend a flight so you can try them all and sample between friends!) the beer onion soup is delicious, as are the brewers pretzels. They are the only restaurant Ive ever seen offer a reuben pizza, and it is one of the best signature dishes Ive had at a restaurant. The apple kraut they use is fantastic and the ever-changing beer and soup selection will always keep me coming back. Atmosphere is warm and rustic, but without being pretentious or hipster-ish. A nice, well-done, back-home type feel that should seem familiar to just about anyone, and yet its not quite the same as anywhere else. If youre new in town, you wont feel it here. Definitely give this place a try (or 50)!
My girlfriend and i went there on Wednesday and we were told to sit anywhere we like. The table was sticky like it was cleaned with maple syrup. We ordered 2 unsweetened ice teas, Fried pickles as an appetizers, and 2 wraps. Floating on top of my tea was a dead fruit fly. I would have asked for a new tea if the sever ever came back. 10 minutes later our wraps were brought to the table from a different server. Its fun to see your meal before the appetizer, but our server messed up what wraps we ordered anyways. So, I let my sever know that I was upset with all the mistakes and that we were leaving. Too many mistakes. I would never go back there. There were only like 6 tables with people, and I seen 3 servers.
The menu is boring and poorly executed. The prices are about average. Thats not why Ill never go there again. I am handicapped, and it was actually the owner who refused to serve my wife and I one afternoon because I experienced a medical emergency in a previous visit there. Enough said.
This place has a good vibe, beer is OK. Gotta say the younger female bartender in the afternoon is probably worst bartender Ive ever encountered. Literally almost threw an ice cube to get her attention. Shes walking around with her hands in pockets, joking with co-workers completely ignoring the customers at the bar, and its not even busy.. Truly pathetic.. Id be embarrassed to work at a place that allows that to happen..
It seems they are trying to make the menu not the ordinary bar food menu; which if you are expecting that type of menu can be disappointing. A bit pricey for bar, food, I paid 12 dollars for a burger, fries, and a root beer not including tip. Nice staff and friendly environment though.
For someone who never complains or writes reviews at all.... this was the first and only time I will go here . Probably the worst service I have ever had for multiple reasons .... food is not terrible but the service is, which makes for a bad experience. Decent food or not. First of all it took about 20 minutes to get a glass of water .... then when the server finally came over my 6 year old ordered A cheese quesadilla .... The server so I would you like any meat in the quesadilla or just cheese? My daughter responded only cheese please I don’t eat meat. Then I asked if they could maybe do just a plain chicken breast because I am ridiculously picky and I understand that’s annoying, that’s why I asked. I would have found something else. She pointed out that they could do a pretzel crusted chicken breast for me but it had a mustard sauce and mustard brush and I told her I despise mustard . She said you can get it without and I said are you sure because it says it is pre-brushed with the mustard before it is cooked, and I assume it’s premade. She guaranteed it was just a sauce they poured over and I said she can keep the mustard off. So I agreed. Easy enough! We get our food and my daughter has big hunks of meat in her quesadilla and my chicken taste like I squirted mustard straight in my mouth. It took another 20 minutes to get the servers attention just to explain the mess up. By then we were well over eating and lost our appetites she offered to make something else but we weren’t interested. Paid our bill and left ..... An hour and a half there and we didn’t even get to eat.... yeah it’s safe to say we will not be going back.
The strange, distant and borderline hostile attitude from the staff did not let us ruin our enjoyment of the fresh, delicious wheat beer. The food (stuffed yellow peppers over mashed potatoes, shrimp sandwich) was ok but did not knock me out of my socks. With so many eating & drinking places in the world, I would not go back to a place where I feel unwelcomed because of attitude problems of the staff. I tipped minimal and we wont go back.
Fist of all, GET WIFI. Horrible dead spot inside the building. You have the infrastructure, time to offer it as an amenity like everyone else does including McDonald’s. Cell signal is ok on the patio but you can’t go out there on rainy days.Secondly, beer is good. Particularly the Porter and the Gorilla Hefeweizen. Finally, service needs to improve. You have 2-3 hard workers like your cooks and your brewmaster, but everyone else is more concerned about checking their cell phones than spring in their step, even when the place is busy.I’ll give this place one more chance, starting with the Internet. Don’t know how you guys expect people to get any work done without this amenity. Also a good way to KEEP people in your establishment. It would also make the mediocre service more tolerable, and I’ll be happy to update this review.
Nice little Brewpub in the center of downtown Berea. Good atmosphere. Not a large beer selection, but their own brews are pretty decent. Food is reliably delicious. I like the three little pigs pizza (bacon/ham/etc) or the hot pretzels if I just need a snack with my beer.
A prohibition speak easy joint, offering some nice in house brews. The kitchen offers a nice selection and the atmosphere was laid back and professional.A definite spot for some drinks and some bites for a special occasion. Decent prices help the reason to show up and patronize this place.
When I got in the restaurant and sat down, I realized my chair was broken. They have me the wrong drink. I ask for coke and they gave me diet coke. It took them an hour to get me my food. The place wasnt even busy. The service was terrible. The waitress kept forgetting everything.

2022-07-19Nice neighborhood bar. Good menu, great food. Due to supply issues, some menu items were not available. The salmon with lemon sauce, rice pilaf and veggie medley were cooked to perfection. Loved the wood and brick decor. Huge bar. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Will continue to return.

2022-06-28Really good food and they brew their own beer, which is also very good. Not as big or well known as Great Lakes, but deserves a look.
