Such a warm inviting environment and HEAVEN for vegans! I love this place so much. Its perfect for a lunch date, a celebration meal with friends, a coffee and some baked goods in the morning, or even a place to come study. Cleveland Vegan Never disappoints! (P.S your non-vegan friends will love it too!!)
We have eaten there a couple of times, so we knew their food was delicious, but they also did a fantastic job with our wedding cake! We ordered confetti and chocolate for the flavors, and all of our guests have been raving about our cake... even weeks after our wedding! They did a fantastic job decorating it. We ordered peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies for our event as well, and they were equally delicious!Photo credit: Dennis Crider PhotographyFloral credit: Ashleys Floral
I am not a vegan or vegetarian and I enjoyed my food immensely. Everything on the menu is vegan, but there are plenty of protein options. We had the experience, which was a choice of three dishes from the menu columns available. It was a lot of food for two people, but allowed a nice sampling of the menu. The carrot cake pancakes were delicious. We could not tell they were vegan. The loaded nachos as expected, crispy and full of toppings. The Irish Benedict was a good surprise. Good flavors and textures. There are plenty of bakery items available, as well as coffee drinks. The service was good as well, attentive yet not too attentive.Come earlier in the day if you want brunch without a wait.Edit:Cleveland Vegan also made the cake for our wedding in October 2021. The cake was delicious and the Baker was very helpful with design and communication. Everyone loved the cake at the wedding.
Their Swiss Roll Chocolate Cake is my familys favorite celebration cake! Its a special treat that everyone unanimously loves. In the restaurant, I always enjoy the Thai Tofu Bowl and my husband loves their CV Slammer. A must stop for anyone who enjoys plant-based meals!
The food is delicious. However we waited half an hour for a table, put in our order...and watched other families arrive later yet fed before us.After 45 minutes, they said it would be 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later, they said our order was complex (two sandwiches, potatoes, a pancake, fruit cup -- no substitutions, no extras).Look, you forgot our order. It can happen. However you dont make us feel bad for it. You dont treat anyone like that.We will not be returning, no matter how good the seitan Philly steak is (and yes, better than some meat ones).
Ok Im only posting this review to help this restaurant. I LOVE that we have a vegan restaurant in Lakewood. I was so excited when its first open and just excited to support a local vegan restaurant. The food is really good, pricing is a high but hey I dont mind it- just want to support them. The main and ONLY issue is: even after how many years theyve been open the long wait for your food is STILL a big issue. Waiting 20 minutes for your coffee and close to an hour for your food is just unacceptable. PLEASE fix this issue because it is really bad and I really want to have a good experience next time we go to your restaurant.
I was so impressed with this place! We went here on a whim while passing through town and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Best French onion soup ever, best grilled cheese, best spinach artichoke dip! My gluten free friend loved it and had plenty of options and had some amazing desserts, and my omnivore friend seemed to love it too! Highly recommend!
I live over and hour away and Cleveland vegans instagram spoke to me to come visit the next time I was in town. I was not disappointed! Everything is so delicious! We had a variety of food and thoroughly enjoyed it all. The restaurant is cozy and clean. Staff is friendly. Parking is on the street and is free after 6pm. PS My husband who is not vegan, also really enjoyed his meal!
I have been wanting to visit this place for over a year. I follow them on Facebook and their food is just mouthwatering. Finally, today I had to go to the west side and was able to stop in. I was not disappointed!! I bought buffalo tofu and a tofu poke bowl and both were delicious. Their vegan ranch is also very tasty 😋 I was going to take a picture of both meals I purchased but my family ate the buffalo tofu before I could 😂. I would definitely recommend Cleveland Vegan to both plant and meat eaters!!
Absolutely fantastic. We have been here several times in the past, and they are also crafting our wedding cake. Our last visit, we each went with the CF Experience. One picks one item from three columns, and its always a deal or the same price as buying individually.I went with the French Toast, the Loaded Nachos, and the Breakfast Sandwich. We finished it off with three slices of our actual wedding cake, Cookie Dough.Plant based food can be a challenge, and there are two approaches. Load it up with sugar and salt, make a few overpowering flavors, and that is that. The flip side is dynamic, and rich flavors carefully put together.Cleveland Vegan is doing the latter, while also keeping a careful eye on texture. The soft and warm French Toast, with their homemade butter is an experience one cant articulate. As youll see on the attached menu, it can be a bit pricey- but the amount of food is fair, the food is filling, and most importantly, delicious.
Food was delicious and the staff was nice. Tons of options. The whole menu is vegan! Duh. They have an option to get 3 items at a discount so I took advantage of that. Buffalo cauliflower could of been a little more spicy in my opinion. Tofu tacos were good. The gyro was the highlight. Been missing tzatziki sauce on my gyros so that was awesome. I will definitely come back if I venture to Cleveland in the future.
Trying a new vegan and gluten free meal plan. Im Italian so Im really struggling with finding things to eat that wont make me breakout or sick. I heard about this place and thought I would give it a try. The employees working were extra helpful and very friendly in helping to explain the menu and some dishes to me. I got the Tofu Tacos with the gluten free rice option and a loaf of gluten free bread to try. This is my first time trying tofu and I was actually pretty impressed with my meal. Cant wait to try the bread in the morning with some avocado. Thanks so much to your employees for making me feel comfortable because I was a little intimidated coming in and not knowing what anything on the menu was. Will be back again.
This restaurant has a nice variety of dishes ranging from burritos, gyros, breakfast, dips, baked goods, etc. In tried a variety of dishes and was pleased with the flavor of each dish. There seems to be much care taken in the food and overall appearance of the restaurant. It is well decorated. And the staff is friendly.Overall, a really great place to eat.
Fantastic. This is the kind of place you walk into and somehow end up ordering way too much food because everything looks delicious.Food: The bakery case is always filled with a variety of tasty treats, including rotating and seasonal items. They have to-go items ready to grab if youre in a hurry (wraps, soups, etc.). The menu has some great classics and rotates in new items, food and beverages both.Atmosphere: They recently expanded the space so there are plenty more tables to sit at. Free wifi means you can hang out and work from there (I take advantage of this!). Fresh flowers on each table give it a fresh and cozy feel.Service: Always friendly :)
Im not a Vegan, but my travel buddy is, so we found this place. The food was amazing beyond words. Super delicious, from a well thought out menu. The restaurant is basic cool vibes, but perfect. On a early Thursday evening, it was very very busy.No plans to ever return to Cleveland, sorry. BUT, if I ever do, I will come eat here. We eat Vegan all over the world, and this restaurant is world class vegan food for sure. Up there with vegan restaurants in LA and Madrid.Delicious. Good job.
This use to be my favorite restaurant. I went there weekly for the longest time for cold case items. All of the cold case items have raised a lot in price which I get but it’s getting a little crazy for me now. Also half of the last orders I have gotten hot were wrong, not the correct portion or not edible. I got a gravy and biscuits and the gravy barley went over one of the and a half biscuits you get when it use to make it across all of the biscuits. I got soup that was so salty I couldn’t eat it. My orders that were wrong were not special orders, they were just menu items. And one serving for thanksgiving was $20 which was insane. But most recently I got a hot chocolate that didn’t taste right and I ended up sick for 24 hours with what I can only assume was food poisoning. I hope others have a better experience but I would not recommend Cleveland vegan again to anyone.
Visited from Chicago for Thanksgiving and we were pleased to eat at a welcoming and tasty Vegan restaurant. Quality coffee, smoothies, breakfast, and entrés are served. I had the gyro, stack of pancakes, smoothie and coffee. Lastly our server was attentive, offered suggestions, and just so very nice. Definitely will be back again!! 🌱💪🏼🤘🏼🌎
Went to Cleveland Vegan Catering & Cafe last night. The staff was great. It was disappointing that they were out of GF pizza crust for their pizza night but they said next month they will be ready. I have to say their lentil sausage was yummy but you must like spice. Thanks for a great evening.
We went for dinner last night, it was our first time. I got the Tuscan bean dip wasnt to impressed was bland. Then I got the crunchy tofu tacos and the chickpea parmesan sandwich. They were absolutely amazing!! I loved it so much I will most definitely be back. I will say they should do bottled water instead of tap and the wait was longer than expected to get our food, but all in all a great place to get some great food.
Amazing menu, good prices, and knowledgeable staff. The menu has tasty staples I know I can always get (biscuits and gravy, gyro) as well as new items or seasonal items added (Reuben). Such a cozy place to sit and eat, or to pick up and take out! So lucky to have a place like this in Lakewood.
Eat here. Just do it.The food is so good you could find it at any quality restaurant, not just a vegan one. I am not a vegan and I choose to eat here because I truly enjoy the food. Plus the service is great- kind staff and relaxed vibe. Also the desserts are amazing. Id probably eat here 3 times a week if I could afford to.
I cannot believe how good this place is! The biscuits and gravy are my absolute favorite. I really enjoy their food and atmosphere. Sometimes service is a little slow but that’s because they are so busy! They are quick to seat you though. It’s definitely a popular spot in Lakewood and I will be a returning customer. I highly recommend to my friends and family.
So much better than I expected. The decor is so relaxed but the service was so amazing. And dont get me started on the food. Wow. Best vegan food (considering the price) Ive ever had. Ive paid more for a vegan entre and had better food but this place I can visit much more often and really enjoy myself, trying different things each time. Highly recommended.
My husband and I have been going to Cleveland Vegan at least once a week since we moved to Lakewood 5 years ago 😅 I can’t say enough good things about the food and the staff, we just love them! They also catered our wedding and we got so many compliments (after hearing many people complain that we were having a vegan wedding beforehand). They blew it out of the water and impressed everyone. 3 years later and were still hearing about how much people loved the cauliflower lasagna. Vegan or not definitely go here!
Went here with a friend for lunch. The food was awesome. We had several appetizers - the loaded nachos & the chipotle potato skins & both were very delicious and the portion sizes were great. We also had the biscuits and gravy which was a hit. Id order it again but would request to have an extra portion of gravy😊. The chicken bacon ranch salad was also a winner. We ordered several desserts - bars, cookies, and pie - each was worth it. I told so many people about this place! It has become my favorite place in Northern Ohio. The customer service was exceptional. Keep up the good work!
Every time I come here it’s something related to service. For starters the sign says wait to be seated and I guarantee to you will be waiting a while to be acknowledged.Along with the fact they’ll bring you your food first and by the end of your meal you’ll get your drinks. This is the second time I ordered the turmeric latte and got it at the end of my meal. I ordered my food for here and I shouldn’t have to take something to go that I ordered with my meal. When I brought up this issue the response was “drinks are backed up” if that’s the case you hold the food from coming out.I’ve worked in customer service from retail to food service and I’m tired of their poor service. Then the cashier snatched my receipt out my hand then laughed and said “oh sorry”
Their food is the best! Always served with warmth and kindness. If you like biscuits and sausage gravy you will love their vegan version. The atmosphere makes you want to stay all day. Everything Ive tried has been delicious. Prices are affordable and you get enough for leftovers.
Dope! Got exactly what I wanted without having to sift through the menu looking for the veggie option haha. Gotta come here more often and try the baked goods and gluten free options. Just an all around pleasant vibe from the decor to the staff, very inviting. Ill be back with a friend or two...and it may be a regular stop after my morning workout!!
Amazing cabbage+noodles and Reubens. All of their food is top notch. In addition to their regular menu they have a fridge with many different meal options like red beans+ rice, or vegan lasagna, etc. Always pleasantly surprised with the new things I try here even though Im vegetarian.
Absolutely one of my all-time vegan places to eat. Whenever Im out in Cleveland, I HAVE TO stop for a bite here and I am never disappointed! Food is top notch and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating!! Gluten free chocolate chip cookies are soooo amazing 🤤
So every time we come here it gets better! And why I dont come here more often is beside me?! The GYRO was amazing! Tasted like the real thing and the loaded chipotle potato skins were crazy good! The chicken soup was fantastic and the loaded grilled cheese really well done! Nice job making veggies taste like....meat! :) Great job!
Their food and their bakery are amazing! Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful. Very welcoming. I ordered their Reuben with a side of veggies and it was absolutely amazing! I also ordered a cake from their bakery. It looked and tasted amazing! You could tell that it was made from scratch and not a boxed cake mix with substituted ingredients. I will continue to come here and would recommend it to everyone. Have an open mind and experience the flavor!
The Food is Amazing I’ve eaten about everything on the menu. However the small condiment container are terrible I do hope Cleveland Vegan get new ones. Myself & Husband containers of sour cream and ranch spilled all over us. This has happened multiple times with ourselves & friends. We love Cleveland Vegan Food but the condiment container are not good they do not seal properly. I do hope you get a new kind of container....containers that seal very well or put rubber bands around them. PLEASE FREELY GIVE NAPKINS & SILVERWARE to your customer ...we should not have to ask for napkins. Other then those things the food is great!
This restaurant has a cozy ambiance with a hospitable and friendly staff. They offer a wide variety of food with a different lunch and dinner menu. In addition to the hot food they also sell cold and ready to eat sandwiches, salads, and juices. Lastly, their bakery menu offers wide variety of desserts from cakes to cookies to muffins to bars and so on.We ordered cauliflower dip and chickpea piccata for our dinner. The dip comes with pieces of bread that is soft, brushed over with garlic butter, and tastes yum in itself and with the dip. The chickpea piccata comes with two chickpea cutlets that are crispy on the outside and soft inside. The overall dish tasted great and filling. We also ordered blueberry roll and chocolate cupcake for dessert. The cupcake was a bit too cold making it hard to cut. But taste wise it was great without being too sweet for my liking. The blueberry roll was the one that I liked the most of the two. The roll was coated with blueberry sauce along with actual blueberries on the inside. Again the sweetness was adequate and not too high.Cannot end this review without mentioning their fresh and organic orange juice and their delicious coffee that I drank without adding any creamer, which is rare as I generally find coffee to be a bit too bitter to my taste.
OMG! I took a shopping bag out of there. Best vegan restaurant Ive been to in my 7+ plus years of having a vegan diet, and Ive been to many of states. I had the pancakes with pumpkin cream cheese 😋. I took the buffalo wings, potato salad, macaroni salad, a walnut brownie, peanut butter cookies, and they werent regular sized either. I didnt eat everything at once.😳 I will travel the two hours to get there again. Their cooler and bakery case has so many items I had to give myself a talk before going up there to limit my items to two from each case. I get so excited when I see vegan food I tend to buy too much.🤦🏿♀️ Why dont they allow you to post a picture with your review?
Cleveland Vegan is consistently awesome. Its so nice to be able to get vegan versions of my favorite comfort foods like biscuits and gravy. They use Rising Star coffee, which is a favorite of mine. The cafe itself is sunny and airy, which is such a wonderful experience.
We frequently travel from the east side of Cleveland to go here. It’s one of my favorites! We also did a catering order from them. It was the simplest catering I have ever ordered! No extra hidden costs/fees. I chose to pick up my order, and it was ready to go without issue when I arrived. I highly recommend them!
I was so heartbroken when Flaming Ice Cube in downtown Cleveland closed but Cleveland Vegan has filled the hole they left in my heart (and stomach). Their food selection has such a delicious and unique variety of flavors. I love how creative they are with their menu and I’m always excited to see what they’re serving up next (my personal favorite is the Kimchi Bliss Bowl).
I have to eat dairy free while breastfeeding my son. Since it is for him I am extra cautious and Im afraid to order from most places. Many menus are not labeled well for allergies. I thought Id try this, how bad could it be. Honestly, I was pleasantly blown away, it was delicious!!I got the beet and basil salad with almond ricotta, amazing. The beets were cooked well, still had some crunch but not in a bad way. The almond ricotta was surprisingly tasty, nutty of course, a little rough in texture but that didnt bother me.I also tried the mac n cheese. Now I love mac n cheese, its a favorite of mine and Ive been craving it. I do not know that I would look at this as a traditional mac n cheese substitute, but with that said I absolutely loved it. It was creamy, the shiitake bacon is wonderful, kale added a nice crunch. Id look at this meal as more of a creamy pasta dish, but Ill definitely be getting it again. My husband even tried it, he loves meat, and he said hed eat it and not miss the meat.Overall a great meal and I have piece of mind knowing its dairy free. I have desserts to try that Im even more excited about now.
My Wife and I go to Cleveland Vegan all the time. Its our favorite Vegan restaurant... Food is always on point and stuff is usually very friendly... However today (Mothers day) We decided to take my mom to lunch only to arrive (after driving over a half hr) and find out it was for reservations only, I had asked why it was not posted on the website, He said it should have been, That they have been advertising it in the restaurant for weeks, But how would someone not from the area know that. I did look on website again but it was not posted. So frustrating, We were just going to do take take out, But was then told it was a 40 minute wait for take out... We left and ended up getting Ohio Pie. Very frustrating and disappointing.
I am a regular of this place and love it. I know most of the staff and they know me and always interact along with giving new suggestions to try and answer questions. My faves?? Definitely the CV Slammer, Chickpea cutlets, pancakes, thai rice bowl and their granola bowl. I love their to go fridge since my husband isnt Vegan but he loves when grab anything out of there for him. I dont order from the bakery often, but if you like light/sweet youll love the pecan bars, carrot cake bars, and their peanut butter cookies.
Great service and great food! I ordered the biscuits and gravy and cheesy potatoes. Both were delicious. The biscuits were soft and buttery and the gravy had the right amount of peppery spice. My friends raved about the ranch dressing, and the carrot cake pancakes -though very sweet- are a perfect morning treat. We will definitely return when we are back in town.
We purchased our wedding cake and cupcakes from Cleveland Vegan. We were very impressed! Their cupcakes are some of the best I have ever had! We worked with Ashley to place the order. She was very detail oriented and quick to respond. They also accommodated us by making one of the flavors soy free.We received a LOT of compliments on the cupcakes. They were a big hit. I believe most of our guests didnt even realize they were vegan. Our wedding cake was beautiful too! It tasted AMAZING! We highly recommend this baker to any vegans (or omnivores!) who are getting married!
My wife and I stopped at Cleveland Vegan and were delighted. True to the businesss name, everything on the menu is 100% Vegan. Some of the items are also Gluten Free. In addition to carry out, Dine-in customers can pick from either indoor or outdoor seating. All seating is fully compliant with Ohio Precautions. The Cleveland Vegan has excellent full service. 😊. Each of the smoothie choices has several ingredients and are completely sweetener free. 17112 Detroit Avenue. Lakewood.
It is so relaxing to go to a place knowing EVERYTHING is vegan. Theres so many great choices on the menu and if I am feeling indulgent, I order one of their amazing shakes. Luckily for me, I dont have any allergies so I get to have whatever I want. My boyfriend, however, has allergies to cashews and pistachios. Any vegan knows that cashews are a staple for most tasty vegan cheeses. Fortunately, the Cleveland Vegan staff answers all of our questions and has a very detailed ingredient list so he knows exactly what he can eat. We always enjoy our meals. Go check them out!
Dear Cleveland,Please accept this as my long winded apology. At approximately 7pm on the 18th of August 2021 I found myself an hour west of Cleveland on I90. Hungered from my travels I suggested to my friend that we stop in Cleveland for food. It would double as a chance as a self-esteem booster, because it’s Cleveland. We inquired the restaurant about bringing dog. They stated that dogs were allowed, but also they were not informed that these dogs may be in fact the spawns of satan. When we are arrived we were greeted by some of the nicest and coolest people I have ever met. All while our little lucifers barked with the might of a dog that isn’t the size of a football Baker Mayfield tosses to OBJ.Our waiter was the definition of confidence and their impeccable service skill directed my friend (who just happens to have every good allergy known to man) to something she enjoyed. Not only was the staff amazing, apparently everyone who eats there is a gem of a human. People where so nice and understanding as the little ankle biter dogs barked out like Mussolini. If this fine establishment is anything like the rest of Cleveland not only will I stop here again, but I might be spending more time in your fine city.
Everything at Cleveland Vegan is fantastic! Service is great, and the food is everything a vegan eatery should be. Fresh, flavorful, satisfying, and wont break the bank. Foods are cooked well, have good texture, and are presented in an appealing way. You wont miss the meat!
Love the music, atmosphere, and natural light every time I come in here. They have made to order and also some grab and go options. Delicious fabulous looking desserts from the bakery! Some nice cafe drinks too, and smoothies. Lots of options in general, including soup. The wait time for to-go orders does seem a bit extensive FYI.
I’d give the food here 10 stars if I could. I’m vegan, my husband is not & this is the only vegan place he will willingly eat vegan food. The gyro & nachos are to die for!The only complaint I have for tonight’s visit was the service. Our waitress did not seem like she enjoys her job or wanted to be here. Her shirt is pretty much see through too, which isn’t very professional or welcoming in my opinion. No smiles. No welcoming language. No thank you’s your your welcomes. It makes me sad because I love coming here and I drive pretty far to get here. But thank goodness the food is amazing. Because if it weren’t, I’d probably not come back :( I hope her day gets better if that’s what the issue is, but man. Just smile at the very least.
This place is amazing! I love that the entire restaurant is completely vegan. Its so lovely in here. The staff are always wonderful and friendly and the food is delicious! I am obsessed with their garlic schmear and bagels. They always have the best pancakes and my wife is in love with their seitan gyros. Their bakery has some yummy options as well. Its a little pricey, however, its completely worth it!
Id been eager to check out Cleveland Vegan for a while, and the food did not disappoint. Many of the menu options offer meat substitutes which were delicious. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was pricey for not coming with a side (if you dont count the apple slices) so I was really counting on it being top notch. It was wonderful. You could taste all of the ingredients and it was warm and filling. You could definitely tell that most of the servers were very happy and friendly however our server seated us right in front of the door on a cold day when other tables were open which seemed a little odd.The restaurant as a whole seemed to cater to people looking for many different things. You could sit down and eat, order items to-go, or simply pick up a coffee. The environment is casual and happy. Ill definitely be back.
Im not a vegan or vegetarian but I went here because it was near my job. I had the green machine smoothie and it was the best smoothie Ive ever had. The Cleveland Vegan is also one of the very few places where you can have a decent warm cookie with ice cream on top. The dessert is marvelous there as well. Ive had food here as well but my favorite food here is definitely the smoothies and the desserts.
I would give this restaurant 5 stars because they have an amazing menu of yummy vegan food with lots of choices; however, sometimes they have Pizza Nights when they serve nothing but pizza and their pizza isnt very good. I try to remember to call ahead and if it is Pizza Night I go somewhere else, but sometimes I forget and I am seriously disappointed.Normally food is fantastic, service is good, the restaurant is clean, and prices are reasonable for a vegan place.I love the breakfast lox bagel sandwich (lox made from marinated carrots?! Awesome! Although the bagel itself is pretty lame compared to a Brueggers bagel). The Classic Gyro is also fantastic. The peanut butter cookie is possibly the best Ive ever had. The coffee and milkshakes are also pretty good.
I ordered a cake for my moms birthday (Im the only vegan in my family). Everyone commented on how beautiful it was when they saw it. I told everyone it was just a regular cake, they ate it and absolutely LOVED it. I told them after a few bites in (when I started eating my piece) they were mind blown, and my grandpa even said he likes it more than non vegan cake. Thank you for everything CV!!
Ive been vegan for like 6 years now and Im always looking to try out the vegan restaurants in every city I travel to. This is hands down my favorite vegan restaurant. There are generally three camps of vegan restaurants:- Those that try to recreate unhealthy non-vegan food in vegan form- Those that try to make everything as healthy as possible (often sacrificing taste)- Those that are very expensive for a small portion of food but unlock flavors you never knew existed.Cleveland Vegan somehow does all three. They focus on both health and taste avoiding most fake meats and cheeses unless theyre homemade (which 99% of what they sell is) while also coming up with an end product that seems sophisticated and not something you could make at home. Its very obvious that they put love into every dish on their rotating menu. They also have themed menus for various holidays, frequent pizza nights, and recently extended their hours.Oh also their baker is an absolute genius. Everything they make absolutely amazes me with the only exception being the cinnamon roll which wasnt quite as soft an gooey as youd expect. Everything else is an absolute explosion of flavors in your mouth and Ive got to get at least one thing from their bakery every time Im there. Finally, they also catered our wedding and veganized our two favorite family recipes. Everyone was super impressed (many non vegans) and we still dream about that food every now and again.
My daughter suggested we walk to Cleveland Vegan for My Farhersday brunch. So here we are. This is so popular we had a 7 min wait for a table. Clean simple design. Pleasant helpful staff. Great tasting Vegan food. When you stop in tell them Joe sent you; they will say Joe Who?
I’ve been very fortunate in the past 3 years of being Vegan. I have traveled the country and experienced many amazing plant based restaurants. Well let me tell you something.. this place takes the cake! I wish I could rate this place as 5.1 because I’m not kidding when I say that after I ate here once; I came back for basically every meal left for the rest of my trip to Cleveland. Absolutely amazing! It is literally the type of place you could plan a trip around. Which I plan on doing because honestly all things considered it’s been the best I’ve ever had.
Disappointing. Ive enjoyed eating at the restaurant in the past, however Im very disappointed in the catering. Ive been vegan for 10 years, and had ordered birthday cakes in the past from a different vegan-friendly bakery in Strongsville that just recently closed (one of the reasons being COVID-related struggles). Looking for other vegan bakery options to order my birthday cake at, I turned to Cleveland Vegan. I emailed first, and when I didnt have a reply by mid-day the next day, I called twice (no answer) and left a message on the catering line. After that Id received a response to my email stating that Id receive a call the next day to finalize my cake order. Its been over three weeks, and my birthday was yesterday. I never received a call or even another email to apologize for them being unable to accommodate my order, or anything of the like. Theres already so little options for vegans, and to be wanting a pretty cake for your birthday like any other non-veg can have easily, and to not be able to have that... very disheartening. Im really sad. I dont know where to turn to for vegan baked goods now. I ended up making my own birthday cake, but it wasnt the same.
It is a really good option and the cafe menu and baked items are great. However, the pizza night is NOT worth the money. The pizzas are small and nothing special. I ordered a spicy chorizo pizza with a gluten free crust. It was super bland and I am pretty sure they left off an ingredient because it was not spicy in any way. It was the least pleasing thing Ive ever tasted from them so far.
Came here twice in our two day stay in Cleveland and we fell in love with it. All the food we tried was incredible and the coffee was some of the best Ive ever had! I actually bought a bag of coffee beans to go. They even ground them for me! Highly recommend this place no matter your dietary preference!!
Everything here is vegan! How awesome is that? It was my first time here, and when we came the place was pretty much full. They have an option to get the CV experience for $21 dollars- youe choice of an appetizer, a side and a main. I went with my boyfriend and it fed both of us. Cauliflower buffalo dip, Mac and cheese & a beet burger. Loved every thing. I was surprised how creamy the Mac and cheese was and the beet burger was a refreshing change from a black bean burger.
Absolutely incredible. I went in here earlier today with a friend and I have never been so pleased. I ordered nachos and tried some of my friends soup. The spices and ingredients they used to perfect the food was top notch. I will most definitely without a doubt come back here again. I am already looking forward to my next visit!
I was so impressed with my shake that I ordered two meals so I could take one home with me too. The biscuits and gravy were from another world, French toast was just as good! I kid you not, I would literally eat it off the ground or share it out of a trash can with a hobo. I live 3 hours a day but still often consider driving out there on weekends so I can reminisce in those amazing tastes.
Absolutely one of the best all-vegan spots in NE Ohio! Atmosphere is always friendly, food is always delicious, and prices are always fair. Really hope to try their catering soon! For the best experience, go hungry and split the 3 course meal with someone - you get an app, a side (basically a meal on its own), and an entree for about twenty bucks.
This food is GAME CHANGING, and suitable for anyones dietary needs. Its is hands-down the most delicious vegan food Ive ever had. Their biscuits and gravy is my everyday go-to, but the roast beef sandwich around St Pattys day is drool-worthy.Everything they make is innovative, healthy, and DELICIOUS. Would give 10/5 stars.
Dining in, the food is delicious. I have also had them cater to my business, and they not only brought totally awesome food, but they handled the catering order very professionally and reliably. We are so lucky to have such a high-level plant based restaurant right here in the CLE!
Best vegan place in the area. Great food and desserts. Can be somewhat overpriced though. I still pay for it because it taste good and there are not many other options. The place is small and can sometimes be slow. I usually go once a week and its an hour drive for me.
Just left Cleveland Vegan and my taste buds were dancing in anticipation of some good grub that happens to be vegan. This place does not disappoint. I ordered the spicy cauliflower tacos and the seitan Cheesesteak. I bit the taco first, and never made it to the cheese steak sandwich. Yes the tacos are that good. The cashew cheese sauce is worth buying a bottle of! Oh, oh...get an everything cookie, youll thank me later...
4 stars because the desserts are out of this world, but the last time I ordered off the menu (fried rice) the food was completely burned. I always want to support local (especially vegan!!) independent businesses so I felt too guilty to mention how blackened it was (though you could tell without tasting it). Still, I was surprised they let it leave the kitchen.
Food is great! I’ve been a few times already and I only discovered it a few weeks ago. There is a nice variety of options on the menu. The only issue I have with the place is I haven’t experienced very friendly service from the staff. Staff can make or break a place.
Wonderful brunch options. I did the 123 Cleveland Experience where you choose one item from each of the three itemized menu lists. The espresso is great and everything in house is vegan, from the egg substitute to the milk used in the cream sauces. I bought the lentil sausage patties and came back a second day to have them again. The avocado toast is beautifully plated. The shortstack looks and smells amazing. And the junior scramble was so fresh and flavorful. And one of my favorite dishses that I miss as a vegan is viscuits and gravy. I believe there is gf options as well. I had to enjoy this restaraunt for brunch twice during my 3 days in Cleveland. Great spot, hope to try it again if I return. Definitely recoommend!
Cleveland Vegan is an exceptional vegan eatery. The prices are fair. The food seems to be mostly modled after diner-food but with healthy, hand-crafted spins (such as made-in-house seitan, cashew eggs, and micro-greens topped on many dishes).Ive been going Cleveland Vegan with my significant other for 2.5 years now, and we drive an hour (one-way) to get there. This is THE ONLY restaurant were willing to drive that far for on a regular basis. The atmosphere is always the same when Im there: joyful and gracious. It honestly brings a smile to my face as soon as we can see the front doors. Please, go to Cleveland Vegan as fast as you can: you cant go wrong with any of the many food services they provide (of course, its all delicious).
I enjoyed my visit to Cleveland Vegan the other day but some things could be done better. Both the Biscuits and Gravy and the Potato Leek Soup were very good but kind of ruined with the coconut bacon. The soup listed it on the menu and I thought I would give it a try. I ended up not caring for it and trying to pick it out. Then, to my surprise, the biscuits came with it sprinkled onto the gravy. I spent several minutes scooping it off. The biscuits did not list it on the menu. Also, I will generally end up straying away from businesses that will not take credit or debit nowadays. When I was there, the place was bouncing so I know that they can afford the charge fees. Also, I would be forced to walk to the ATM and pay a fee. Meh...Amazing peanut butter cookies though!
All vegan. Yes everything is vegan. Delicious! Nice staff. All fresh. Little pricey but the premium is understandable. Bathrooms onsite. Dine-in or carry-out. Relaxed low key dining room. Carry-out came out quickly.Returned the next day for breakfast AND dinner! Gryo, breakfast sandwich, and pancakes are amazing! Im hooked!P.S. do yourself a favor and get a bakery item! Delicious!
As a vegan I can say it’s a nice alternative to cooking..the food is good it has the potential to be great if they add more flavor to the dishes..the food is very bland. But the reason I’m only giving 2 stars is because the service sucks bad...I read plenty of reviews that all say the same thing, but I still wanted to give this place a try and see for myself. From the person at the register to my server, they both where not pleasant at all, and need to be in the back somewhere washing dishes if they are not interested in providing service with a smile. Not a good experience for a first time customer. They didn’t even introduce themselves coming or going. The server act like she had a issue when I asked her about a few dishes...as if I was supposed to know...you never know who’s coming into your establishment, I could of been a secret shopper or even a vegan magazine writer...and having a nice atmosphere with poor customer service doesn’t mean anything...I would go to a whole in the wall restaurant to dine, if I know I’m getting treated with excellent service. I also noticed how she treated me (black lady) vs how she treated her other table (white family) smh...because of the service I got, I will never come back!!
I went to pick up an uber eats order for a customer. I checked over the order as thats what Im required to do per the driver instructions. I later noticed that there was no straw and napkins for the customer in her carryout bag...i turn around and i asked the staff for some napkins and straws for her order. The staff and i think manager abruptly declined. They are stating that they dont provide these and that the customer is aware. Like wth? Since when does a restaurant not provide 1 straw and 3 napkins for a paid order? Very weird. Bad business. Not to mention the customer order a smoothie which didnt come with a sippy lid. I am aware of the sustainable products but non of those were of an option. I guess the nastiness of the customer service from the shop is what bothered me the most!
On my drive from Texas to New York I was waking up and Googling things to do in cities I was passing through. I kept my eye out for any vegan restaurants I may pass along the way and came across Cleveland Vegan.Let me tell ya, of all the stops I made, this was by far my favorite.Easy to find, with metered street parking available out front; quaint and quiet; wonderful customer service, and some of the best vegan food I’ve ever eaten. The avocado toast is a meal in itself, but the breakfast quesadilla was amazing. I also had an order of mini French toast and crispy potatoes, along with a cinnamon roll, cookies ‘n’ cream cupcake, and several Americano coffees, and was not disappointed by any of it. Highly recommended, whether you’re just passing through or are lucky enough to live in Cleveland. It was so good I’m not opposed to taking another road trip just to annihilate some more vegan deliciousness 😋
Ordered a Patty melt for lunch. Bread, cheese, onion and mushrooms were good but patty had no flavor. Really disappointed when I had heard such good reviews. Girl working register must have a cold which was pretty nasty. She kept blowing her nose and did not wash her hands.
My daughter and I dont do cow dairy at all and eat VERY LIMITED meats from time to time. We follow a whole foods diet for the most part. CV gave her a treat of chocolate chip pancakes with a side of peaches one morning and another morning strawberry compote pancakes. She preferred the chocolate chip with the side of fruit. I would love to see other kid options available. My daughter has a pretty diverse palate and a dairy allergy so we dont order off the standard (bleck....chicken nuggets, corn dog, etc.) childrens menu at restaurants. I had the CV slammer one morning for some comfort food at its finest. That bread is soooo good. I also had avocado toast one morning and it was good. We got pasta salad with a dill type dressing on it to go as well as a pierogie meal. I was surprised when I opened the pierogies, theyre fried. LOL I was expecting a soft, dumpling type exterior...theyre good, I just dont eat much fried foods. We also got a peanut butter cookie and this huge slice of cinnamon roll. The peanut butter cookie is everything you want a cookie to be. Amazing! The cinnamon roll was not my favorite. Its left this aftertaste in my mouth and was a little firmer than I have had before. I almost forgot I had a maca latte one morning and a brown sugar latte with half the sweetener once. Both were great! We arent from this area and wont be here long but hope to return to CV once more before flying back out.
This is place is good!! First, the food is soooo good! It was very delicious and there is a enormous amount of healthy food options available! Also all there stuff from water jugs to biodegradable boxes has impressed me. I recommend this restaurant to all those who want to eat the best vegan food in town.
Im doing a project for school and its difficult enough to find a bakery who sell vegan desserts. I just called here to ask for a list of vegan desserts and I was immediately denied by a customer service member. If youre going to do customer service, please hire those who actually like communicating and speaking with customers.
Love to shop small? Passionate about young entrepreneurs coming back to their Mid-Western origins?Thats the place! Have a sip of coffee and relax while watching at random furnishing and on purpose dusty plants all over the cafe.Cold platters are the best by the way...!

2022-06-22Cleveland Vegan is one of those places you can always depend on for quality. This is why we went with them for our wedding cake and desserts. They did such a terrific job! They were professional and easy to work with every step of the way. The craziest thing I will never forget, is that we purposely ordered MORE pieces of dessert for everyone than we needed. We overshot the total amount by a long shot. When we were packing up at the end of the night we had ONE donut and FOUR cupcakes left. NO CAKE was left. Im not kidding when I say our guests destroyed it. We heard stories the next day of people plotting for how to get that specific flavor they wanted at the wedding. People were talking about them and how good it was. We had one piece of our cake (from our cake cutting) and that was it. You think wed be upset but we are just so impressed and happy everyone loved it so much. Our goal was to have food that people left with a better appreciation for Veganism. Cleveland Vegan helped us achieve that. I would highly recommend them for your next event.

2022-03-01Best vegan food in Cleveland. We tried a few places and this had to be my favorite. The tiramisu pancakes were amazing. Total dessert for breakfast vibes. For 2 people we did spend around $50 which I’d say is a lot for breakfast and coffee but otherwise worth the price. We enjoyed everything we tried.

2022-05-27I got the quesadilla here for breakfast and it was delicious! I ordered it to go and intended to eat it once I got back to my hotel, but after taking this pic and trying 1 bite, I couldnt help but devouring it. One of the best parts was the cheese - super melty, which isnt always the case with vegan cheese. The flavor was excellent all around, and it paired nicely with their cold brew. Will definitely plan to try more of their menu the next time Im in town.

2021-11-07Its a nice place with a good atmosphere and location. We were there for lunch on a Saturday and it was very busy. 45 minute wait for a table so we got it to go. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and a beet burger with a cupcake and a lemon bar. The BEC was good, not great. Standard fare. The tempeh bacon was a little dry (as tempeh usually is) and needed some more kick. Maybe some more smoky flavor. The beet burger was the first time Ive tried one. I love the Beyond and Impossible, but they are everywhere now. I thought it was cool they still had something different. The issue is that it pretty much was just grilled beets. I liked it, didnt love it. Its strange because the best bites were the last ones when the burger, guac, sauce and cheese had all merged into a mash. The desserts seemed to have been what they are at most vegan places, a day past their prime and a little dry. The frosting on the cupcake was delicious.Id definitely like to try the place again. Everyone has off days, and maybe thats what we got. It certainly seems popular enough and it has some good choices.Fist to 5 (fist is 0) Id give it a 3 with the potential that eating in, just delivered to the table could earn it another point.Oh, and we tacked on a knit hat on a whim, which basically doubled our total. $25 for a basic hat needs a sign up as a warning. Not cool.

2021-06-17I absolutely love this place. The staff here are awesome, and that really shows on their Instagram! The food is good and is always exactly as described. From-scratch vegan food made with wholesome and tasty ingredients. Many of the options are delicious. I enjoy the cookie sundae (very large-- good deal for $6; would probably feed 3 or 4 people ), the nachos, cupcakes, cookies, mac and cheese, and other dishes as well. Some of the options are a bit healthier and less processed-- so sometimes not as delicious as regular store-bought items, but I think most people can find something they like here. If you dont love the food, the overall vibe is amazing. So kind, friendly, and caring. I love being here.

2022-03-03Always friendly, always quick, and always delicious! I love that they have allergens marked on their menu. I have a tree nut allergy, they make it easy for me to choose what is safe to eat, and they’re very accommodating to my needs if I ask the staff for help. Be sure to have a chocolate chip cookie!

2022-07-19I love Cleveland vegan! I wish they were all over in every neighborhood! 1st of all the peanut butter cookies vegan or not are hands down the best Ive ever had and you are doing yourself a disservice if you dont get yourself one. That being said all other food here is excellent. The sandwiches, appetizers, smoothies all great, I have yet to try something there that I did not like. Once a server got my order wrong and I got something I would have never ordered and I still loved that too. The staff is excellent the owner is very pleasant.
