Called about wires to 3 houses being entwined in huge tree branches. He took my number and hung up on me.Power is CONSTANTLY OUT AND THEY NEED TO UPDATE OLD BROOKLYN’S TRANSFORMERS. Are they the original ones? Sure sick of the power being out and rude customer service. We deserve the option for CEI!
I have very awful experience with CPP. There are some problems with my final bill, the customer service reps were very rude, put me on hold and hung me up many times. I called back and forth to repeat same issuam. I requated service on June 23 and put June 30 is the end day. However, I still received a final bill on my name after June 30. They keep saying that did not receive my request, I am frustrated, I have email confirmation. The CPP system and customer service are so Terrible! Never help customers!
The most expensive power charges I’ve received. Can’t get anyone on the phone to disconnect my service. My last name is Graziana and they refused to change then name on the account from Grazianal. Honestly this company is criminal, a joke it’s the only option in Cleveland. Disgusted by my 2 years of service with them. If I could give negative stars, I would.
Called to ask a simple question as to why my power bill was twice as much and was yelled at by a woman named Gainer. I just moved to the area and did not understand why an extra $60 was added to my bill for a power adjustment charge and the answer I received was rude and unprofessional. My dad owns multiple buildings in the Clevelans area, I will look into switching power companies.
You know spring is here when your power goes out on a sunny beautiful day I assume with the influx of bird$h1t from all the birds returning for the summer. I get bills that arent even mine for a couple years and after numerous calls I still get them. Theyre recent billing updates or changes and they started sending my current bills to my previous address from 9 yeasr ago and that takes a couple months to figure out. This must be what its like to live in a 3rd world country.
The customer service is so horrible at this company. There is no welcome speech. The verbal usage of “ um, um,”. That was used by theses unprofessionals was terrifying. The call was breaking up. No apologies from the agent, no closing speech and no help provided. I am a new customer to this system and I am afraid already. I know that people are working from home because they are more in tuned with their background than their job. Smh. Pandemic life sucks. I WANY MY STAR BACK. Lol
Absolutely dismal. A butterfly sneezes and the power goes out, yet first energy houses in the neighborhood always seem to be ok. Forget about customer service because there isn’t any. They’d be better off shutting down their phone lines...which if they run off the same lines they provide for us, will happen anyway. If anyone knows something the citizens of Cleveland who are plagued by this “company’s” service can do to switch to another provider or petition them to close doors, it would be much appreciated.
Adding this photo because every time a breeze of wind blows you can expect to see this for a few hours as they monopolize entire areas of the city while putting in minimal effort to fix anything. 0.1 stars and the .1 is only because I’m sure .1% of people at your company deserve recognition
The worst company in the history of companies I have ever had to deal with. I had absolutely 0 help with any issues I had. Within two months I had more issues with this company than any other company/group in my life. I will NEVER live in an area that requires their services EVER again. Rating: -5 stars.
If they had 0 stars or negative stars as an option I would! The worst company imaginable I dont even know how they exist with all these complaints first and foremost and they overcharge excessively! 103.75 for a small apartment are you kidding me?? We barely use the electric in here as well it is always high! And the power outages during the heat wave was fun too! They need to get rid of this company for good! And their payment center is annoying to work with! Cant even read their website either or log on to pay that way!
Would never issue a complaint over pricing or service speed, as large outages are not uncommon in the region and handled Im assuming as best as they can be, however I will note that my experience with their customer service has been so wildly negative that it merits a review. Absolutely miserable representatives; just as brusque and useless as they could be, even over the simplest account changes and inquiries. Disappointing for the city indeed.
If I could give it less than one star I absolutely would. you get charged on your bill for an energy adjustment charge that is more than what your actual uses charges and they are unable to tell you exactly what the energy adjustment charge goes towards, you lose power frequently last year alone we had no power on the coldest day of the year and I had a newborn and we also lost power on the hottest days of the year so what is the point of having power when you dont get to use it when you really really need it. Also when you take off work to go downtown to end a service and switch to a new service due to a move they always seem to forget to actually discontinue your old service and you end up having to pay two bills, as they claim that you never disconnected services yet that was the whole reason you had to go downtown. If we had a choice to choose a different company I most absolutely would.
I live on the west side and I experience power outages twice a month. Matter of fact its 3:30 am and I have no lights due to a power outage. They over charge u with every fees. rude. All employees are always rude. They will not work with you. No help no payment plan. They nosey to the point its unprofessional. Always a horrible experience every time I call. The worse place to have to deal with. When I buy a house and Cleveland power owns the area ill buy a meter from first energy or dominion light myself. Im so upset I have to deal with Cleveland power and goin in person is the absolutely the worse.. so so unprofessional and nasty ass attitudes.
Made an online payment for final bill. Got charged twice. Called. Woman argues that its my fault. Tells me shell just credit the account. I tell her there isnt an account, I had it shut off two weeks ago and I no longer live in Cleveland. She says there is no shut off notice, and I never called. These people are a joke. Worst customer service. Simply crooks.
I give them 1300$$ in February pay 150 every two weeks then 100$ every month and they still turn me off!?!? All because someone had lights in my name I didnt know of!!! I am 8 months pregnant with two 8 year olds and just went grocery shopping just to come home with out lights! And they were so rude about the situation!! I was told if I make payments and keep in touch with a bill Williams I would be fine. Thats not true! Now they want me to pay 677$ to turn service back on!?!? They didnt try and work with me or understand that Ive did what theyve asked so why cut me off!? They are rude as hell! And very disrespectful! Im pissed!!! AND THEY DONT EVEN DO PIP PLUS!!!!!! They dont want people to get help paying them! They need to be shut tf down!!!
I switched my service back in April of 2017. 2 months ago, I got a letter stating that I owed them $400 from January of 2018. I called and they said they DO have on file that I called in to cancel my service last year and the $400 was a mistake on their end. She told me that they would send me a final notice and I shouldnt owe anything. I opened my next piece of mail from them expecting that final notice and instead, I received yet another bill for $700. LOL! Whoever is living in that house is really living it up with almost $1000 of free electricity! Ive never experienced something more unorganized and irresponsible!
Our power has gone out 5 times in one week. 3 times in the last 24 hours. It was out for 16 hours since yesterday afternoon/evening. I have a sister who works for the power company in California. They dont lose power in the middle of their raging fires. Come tomorrow I will take my business elsewhere as will most of my neighbors. I am sick of them telling me they are working on it yet the same thing keeps happening.
Wishing I could give no stars. We moved I to our new house and made an appointment for the electric to be turned on...problem is they never came. After emails were sent, 6 extremely long phone calls later we made another appointment....problem is, they didnt come again. Now here we are without lights for almost a week because guess what...its the weekend now and theyre closed. Now we can only hope that they actually SHOW UP on Monday...this is crazy.
This company is a scam. Customers are frequently overcharged for poor service and the worst customer service possible. They are not a subject to anti-monopoly laws and abuse their privilege to have no accountability for how rates are calculated. I would give them 0 stars if possible.
I regret even giving one star. We paid our bill on the 9th online. We usually pay it in person but with a sick child and work hours it has been very difficult. I got a confirmation that our bill was paid on the same day (may 9th) we recieved a letter in the mail on May 17th (mail was dated may 15th) that we did not pay and the bill was raised. I called Cleveland Public Power and a woman named Carmen kept cutting me off and saying in the notes it says they sent the mail out on may 15th. I told her I understand that but why wasnt I notified on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, or 14th that my payment didnt go through and had a confirmation. she just kept telling me that the mail was sent on the 15th. I explained (or at least tried to being cut off so many times) that I understood but I wanted to know why I didnt get an E-mail or notification that my payment didnt get taken (even with confirmation.) She proceeded to tell me that I was talking horrible to her. Yes, I will admit my voice was getting a little loud (but after being cut off multiple times from the very beginning I dont see that being unexpected) I was very polite and just tried to understand the situation. She proceeded to put me on hold (while I was talking of course) and send me to Bills voicemail. Very unprofessional and the worst place to have for power. There are always issue . We will be going to a different company very soon.
So now that I’ve been on hold for an eternity iI’ve had time to read the reviews to pass the time. Please tell me that I really don’t have to be their customer. I want to run for the hills. A company who takes your money only after they have tortured you sufficiently and blacks out frequently?I’m a new resident to the city and when the recorded menu choices completely left out a choice to start new service, I knew I was in trouble. I ended up choosing, “report a fire”. I’m on hold.
The worst electric company I have ever dealt with. I moved into my apartment in August 2015, however, CPP charged me for the July 2015 (WHEN I WASNT LIVING THERE). I fought them for months and spoke with a supervisor many time without anyone giving me a finite answer. Customer service is lacking, well, customer service. Out of the 10+ times I have called them I have only spoke with 1 woman who was as nice as can be. The 9 other time it was as if I was interrupting their days. Will never deal with them again.
I have been a Property Manager for over 14 years and have worked with multiple utility companies and Cleveland Public Power is BY FAR the absolute worst company I have every dealt with. The customer service members are extremely rude and not helpful and the only way to get anything done is to contact the manager, who is very difficult to get a hold of. If I had the choice I would NEVER do business with them! I feel horrible I have to subject my residents to this terrible company. Absolutely disgusted I cannot even believe they are able to treat people and businesses this way. Be prepared to wait obnoxious hold times and be disrespected by unprofessional customer service.. oh and by the way I am still on hold...
Literally the worst utility company I have ever dealt with. Been trying to get ahold of someone concerning a business account for weeks. Hold times are obnoxiously long, calls get disconnected, and when you finally connect with someone they dont know how to help and then transfer you somewhere else where you end up at a voicemailbox. None of the message I left have been answered including one to the manager who I believe is named Bill. As I type this I have been on hold for 39 minutes with out any one even answering. Its honestly shocking how poorly ran this company is. Living in the dark with no power would be easier than dealing with Cleveland Public Power.
I have been with CPP for a little over a month. My power has gone out more times in the last month then when I was with Illuminating Company for 4 years. I have also set up the online account numerous times and it will never let me back in. I call and get no help. Hopefully they figure something out soon.
Not customer friendly whatsoever! Can’t get through on one of the coldest nights in December! I wish I could give 0 stars! I really want to go to another electric company but forced to use CPP, so they do want they want to customers. This is a city public service company but they have no service for the city they are supposed to represent! Does anyone know how to get away from this company besides moving to an area that has a different provider?! The frustration is real!!!
Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Trying to call and speak to a human being is nearly impossible - had to call them 4 times, wait time was over 90 minutes, so option to have them call me back (rather than wait 90 minutes on hold) first time, no call back because i called around 3:45pm (they close at 5:30, so I’m guessing they didn’t want to call back right before they close). The next morning, called 3 times, first time I waited 60 minutes on hold - only to be hung up on. Called immediately back, left my name and number again for a call back. They called me back an hour later - only to ONCE AGAIN BE HUNG UP ON. Tried a third time that day and 75 minutes later FINALLY got in touch with a human being - who was terribly rude and kept putting me on hold. After 15 minutes, mostly on hold, was told that I need to COME IN TO VERIFY MY PAYMENT. What?!? So ridiculous. I wish I could transfer service to a different energy provider. This makes me want to move out of Cleveland. They need to make some serious changes or shut their doors for good and allow a company that actually cares about their customers to move in. Seriously the WORST electricity provider I have EVER HAD. If I could leave 0 stars, I would.
I called to start services. I asked if we could schedule a time. They told me no, theyll be there in 1 to 2 business days. Okay. They show up, but do not call even though they cannot gain access without calling. This happens twice. They finally call me TO SCHEDULE A TIME. I call the number I was given. No one answers. I call the main line, Im told I HAVE to call the number I was given. Try calling both numbers, for FIVE HOURS. NO ONE ANSWERED.
Very unprofessional. I have not received a bill in 2 months. I kept getting bills in my mail box in another mans name. So today I decided to call because my landlord said that was all on them. I was placed on hold with no music for 20 mins. Then the lady said that they couldnt get into the meter box. She said if a payment is not made, they will hop up on the pole and turn it off. So for two months I have been getting power but no bill in my name. I called before I have moved in my apartment to get it in my name. I was giving a conformation number also. Some people have to be told stuff twice like a retard.
There wasnt an option for zero stars. Its the only reason they are receiving a star at all. They have poor customer service. Ive been on hold for 45 minutes and the phone tech hung up on me. AFTER FORTY FIVE MINUTES ON HOLD. What are you being paid to do? Breath? Well in that case, wheres my check??? Trash
If there was a such thing as a better business bureau in Cleveland this company wouldn’t be able to get away with charging people for far below standard services. The power goes out at least 4 times a month even with the best weather possible. The employees are lackadaisical, lazy, and sluggish. It’s like talking to zombies on the phone. And they’re quick to hang up the phone. And nothing ever gets accomplished until they want it too. I say we the people crowdfund our own energy source from an accredited supplier and name the company Clevelands Public Power. Watch how fast you see city officials scrambling then.
They make you wait on the phone for up to an hour on hold, then when you get ahold of someone theyre very rude & act like youre inconveniencing them. They kept billing me after I cancelled service and despite multiple phone calls refused to send me any written documentation that my service was cancelled. I want hours of my life back!
Absolutely incompetent and zero efficiency. I own rentals, every time I need to start or stop service, it takes me 3-5 days to get through to a person. I work a full time job and cannot wait on hold for 20-45 minutes. I even call 2-4 times a day and after 5-6 minutes I have to hang up because I cannot be on hold that long! how frustrating, how is this possible, I have bills for accounts that i could not shut off even though I dont even own the property anymore. Also, when I do get someone on the phone, they are so rude and hostile, if I say or do anything they dont like they will hang up on me or just place me on an eternal hold. I have lived in other areas of the country and have never had such a horrible experience with a utility company as I have with CPP.Why doesnt this change, surely other have made complaints, how do others get their power turned on or off, or get their billing questions answered? Who is in charge of the CPP operations and why dont they ever address these complaints? Why doesnt the Mayor do something about this, after all, this is a city owned power company, right?
Customer Service is the absolute worst! They are never proactive in any situation.Clevelands West Side is without power, some since earlier this evening (3pm) no update as to the ETA of power, about 1 hr ago we lost power near Lorain Ave by St. Ignatius, and still no update, we have only received a problem at the substation where a fire took placeThey lure you in with the most reliable energy supplier in Cleveland non sense. If youre thinking about changing power companies, do NOT choose CPP!
Ive had CPP for going on a year now. Coming from Fl I gotta say, theyre awesome!! I called to connect my service. No money for a deposit. Just turned the lights on the day I scheduled them on. #DUKE energy in Fl... HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!! The determine your deposit by an average of use by the ppl that had lights there before you. So if the average use was for a 8 person family, it doesnt matter that you & your family are 3 ppl. Deposits are anywhere from $100-$2000 and they charge you $9.76 just to be their customers! In Fl theres no choices for electricity. Just Duke.Thumbs up! From this CPP customer.Ive dealt with worse
Terrible! They arent in contract with pipp. I dont have section 8. I pay reqular rent a water and sewer bill and a gas bill and Im on a fixed income. My bill is 200$ a month!!! I cant afford this. I call them and they wont do a payment plan. I guess me and my 3 kids have to be in a house with no lights. This company is sadd.
Ive been dealing with this company for 6 yrs & 10 months. I must say that they are the worst Customer service experience Ive ever had! Completely unprofessional; Ghetto & Ratchet are the words that pop into my head when I think about them! I dont understand how they even have employment. Its like they must just screen for Rude People only...Come work here! I try not to go there but I ended up snapping and going off on a female & filed a complaint w the CCP..it just makes no sense. Ive never been disconnected or anything as far as my service but damn it..I have a right to question you about my bill w out the Bad attitude and smacking of lips and sarcasm. Coming from a customer service background myself they need to monitor, coach and reprimand alot more! I feel like they almost need to fire almost all of them and start over with fresh individuals who want and need to work! Hell I was unemployed for awhile after being laid off and was like damn I should get hired there where I can take out my frustrations on innocent customers and still get paid! But truth is I wouldnt do that to people and they shouldnt be allowed to. I HATE EVEN HAVING TO CALL! Because Everytime..they get me upset! Well good news is Im calling to get my service off because we are moving up out of this city and Ohio period.. Good riddens CLEVELAND PUBLIC POWER!
They deserve 0 stars! Company is absolutely terrible, I hope they get shut down for stealing from the people of Cleveland! They bill us outrageous amount for electric use that can’t possibly be correct! You can’t get ahold of anybody unless you want to stay on hold for literally 3.5 hours...
This company has the worst phone system of any utility company Ive ever dealt with by a mile. They make Cleveland Water look like the Ritz Carlton. Ive never been on hold for less than 10 minutes before someone answers. When someone finally does answer, they immediately say theyre going to transfer you to someone else. Then the phone will start ringing and keep ringing for 5 minutes or so before it just hangs up, and you have to start the process all over again! Ive had this happen multiple times. This is a huge waste of time and money for individuals and businesses that depend on Cleveland Public Power. They NEED to fix their phone system!
Horrible. I filled out and even called to inquire about getting service turned on in Cleveland (Lorain Road area). They said 48 hours and will get back to me..I also called FirstEnergy the same day. CPP still has YET to get back to me and FirstEnergy was already out and turned everything on this morning. CPP is horrible and worst, hood-rat customer service.
This place needs to be shut down And I dont understand how these people are not under the public utilities commission because they are clearly In violation of some of the rules and regulations that is mandated by law For those who are under the public utilities commission. I have lived in several different cities and States and this place is on my blacklist. There are a lot of people not renting properties because they do not want to be under Cleveland public power. Im move from one apartment to the other and pay my balance Off prior to movie and they told me they can only be out within 48 hours and the weekends dont count so in the meantime I have children and the weather conditions are changing and getting cold and the heat is not working because they want to take their sweet time and what utility company dont operate on the weekends when it comes towards someones heating supply. This place is not very accommodating at all to the customers and I was under AEP back in Columbus and anytime I had an issue with my electric service these people will show up on the weekend and I have even seen them service people with disconnection notices on the weekend when theyre trying to reconnect their service and this is stuff they normally have done within 24 hours and not 48 hours and telling people they dont work on the weekends. The customer Personnel is very ghetto and trashy acting and need to be forced to live in one of their service providing property and they need to experience what their customers are going through. They need to be put in a home in the winter season and turn off the electric for one week and cut off all their heating supply so that they can feel the customers outraged and Pain and the BS theyre putting these families through and not to mention children are being affected by their negligence. It was so cold I had to go and book a nearby Hotel and I contact with these people early in the morning when they first open the doors and they should have been able to get me in the same day with someone getting the electric turned on because this is not something you just put off on the back burner as if it is a retail store . Thousands of customers depend on this shity company as there energy supplier
Only because I cant give it 0 stars...I am extremely disappointed in the customer service. Ive called 5 times today along and have spent over 15 mintues on hold each time. Thats over ONE HOUR OF WAITING to not even have anyone pick up and discuss my issue. As a new customer of Cleveland Public Power, this is not a good way to start the experiece. Its also disappointing that all the reviews here, including ones dating years back, are all bad. Sounds like no hope for good service in sight.
I typically would not review a public utility company but this one is an exception. In setting up service for my new place I encountered 2 very rude and unhelpful customer service women. Both were argumentative and combative.Unfortunately, I have no choice but to use this company and hope that their power supply is uneventful.Good reminder that government is not meant to run businesses!
Power has been out 3 times in 1 month!!! Their excuse- bad weather happens.Guy that answered the phone had zero customer service skills. Very short with me because I asked what was going on and what the time frame was going to be to restore power. CPP- you really suck!
Its Pointless To Use The Phone To Reach Cleveland Public Power. I was disconnected more times than I have fingers in a very dedicated 2 hour time frame of determined to get help. If you can do it online, please do. If you have any ability to leave work early to go there its so much better. The folks on site were friendly and helpful. The line was short and sweet.
I seriously feel like crying right about now. My power has been out for 14 hours I’ve called and called. I have a 10 month old . Dre was the dispatcher and he hung up on me twice. My food is spoiled. I only gave one star because it wasn’t an option to give none. This is terrible.
Quite possibly the biggest joke Ive ever encountered. Customer service is lousy, wait times are unacceptable, and the charges for power are absurd. Their energy adjustment charge is basically charging you for power twice because they dont produce the power. Whatever. If The Illuminating Company is available to service your area, have your power lines activated with them.
I have two phone called them from both been waiting for someone to pick up the phones for over 2 hours when they finally picked up the phone they hung it up. Been trying to call back now the lines are busy. Dont send a disconnection notice to my door without checking your computers I been paid my bill! Learn how to pick up your customer service phones or start hiring for customer service!!!
By far the worst ever in customer service! Never received a shut off notice (not in the mail, bill, or online app) and they shut my power off, I called right away and paid the bill in full even though not due till the 26th and its only the 15th! And guess what still no power! And they wont tell me when it will be restored. I have two kids under 3 and they dont care! So no power, food in fridge cant be cooked, no lights and my damn bill is paid ( it was under 200$ that was due. Lol)! What a crooked company. I wouldnt even give them 1star.
They dont have good bill pay programs for low income families. there was suspicious fee charging activity in which i thought was going to be a class action lawsuit. no one ever told the customers the outcome . i know my bill seems very high . I am in the process of returning to the illuminating company.
The worst ever do not use them they over charge you and the power is always you going out they are very rude I think that one star is too much for them, why are they still around close them down I am switching froim them and if you had any sense you would too.Why is the power always going out and when you. All they very very rude like it is your fault I think that there stuff is use but charge us top dollar smh somebody needs to check them out it is not fair for us poor people why treat us so bad why, once again the power is out Cleveland public power is the worst they power go out once a week so people please make sure the you have candles I wish I could change power companies but I cant and they do not care about the people somebody on a higher power needs to check into this please for the people thank you God BLESS.
I was on the phone for over an hour, transferred to the wrong department three times, and then got disconnected, so had to call back to get on the same merry-go-round. After another 30 minutes, found out that I hadnt gotten disconnected - the rep hung up on me after muttering okmmwellmakeareportngitsommunovahtheretafixitthnks - which I guess means okay, thank you very much, we have the information we need to make a report, and will get a crew over there to repair the light as soon as possible, thank youI was reading the reviews as I waited, and noticed that out of 111 reviews, 87 of them were 1 star. The 5 star reviews all sound like they were written by employees. Hmmm...Interesting...By the way...my review? 1 star. Horrible, rude, uninformed, uninterested people, sleeping their way through their lives, just waiting for retirement so they can get their public-service pensions.
I would review CPP with a 0, but google wont allow that, so heres my breakdown:0 - customer service0 - online support - website is frequently down or unavailable0 - billing (mystery Energy Adjustment Charge cost more than the actual energy provided)1 - they provide electricity which I need...sometimes
This is a deal breaker when renting or buying another home! There are numerous power outages; theres been about 4 this Spring/ Summer! Terrible & inconvenient! If I could stitch, I definitely would! 8/2/18 If I could give no stars, I would ! I couldnt write a new review so editing this one ! Our lights are out again ! It hasnt even been a month !
Rude managers and CSR representatives. Spoke with a manager (Ms. Jones) & csr rep who insisted that a bill we had on record reflecting a period of 3/6/-4/4 was actually a bill which covered 2/4-4/4. The manager returned a voicemail and after giving a snarky comment about our concern being not important enough to be forwarded to her, she then backed the CSRs initial statement that the bill was for sure covering a period of 2/4-4/4.2 hours later the manager called back after speaking with IT that the bill was in fact not covering a period of 2/4-4/6, but was only covering 3/6-4/4. She then proceeded to get an attitude with us after attempting to get some additional information regarding usage & a service technician appointment to review the consumption rate at the property, as the bill was atypically high for the size of the property. After about 10 minutes of her talking over me she concluded that she would put in a ticket for the technician that would likely not be accepted due to the age of the account and declined to give us any sort of confirmation information or direct contact information in the event that we did not hear from someone in her estimated time frame.Shocking that a business would want to follow up on an issue that two hours earlier was being brushed off as unimportant and which completely contradicted the statements of a CSR & apparent manager
Absolutely the worst utility company Ive ever had. My energy bill this month was ~$80 and they charge me a random energy adjustment of $120+ on top of that.... so I use $80 worth of energy and my bill is $210+. They actually had someone attempt to call me and tell me what energy adjustment was and how it was calculated, but the person had no idea what they were talking about. Do not live anywhere in Cleveland where you have to use CPP. Ill be moving out of Cleveland specifically because of CPP. Congrats, continue to drive away residents and destroy this city.
This is truly a terrible electric company. They are stuck in the 20th century with their billing practices and policies. They dont offer auto/equal pay (to pay same amount each month), nor do they give you a precise billing date. Sometimes I get a bill on the 19th, other months its the 29th. There is 0 consistency in cycle times either - so some months Im paying for 27 days of service and some months its 33 days of service. This again leads to inconsistent bills. As somebody who always pays my bills on time, this is highly annoying. I would use Illuminating Company in a heartbeat, if I could. I have begged, but because CPP has a monopoly on certain address. Really sad.
I have never had any problems with CPP. I switched over to them after I kept seeing power outages up and down my street but a single neighbors never seemed to lose power. I went 6 days without any power once while the single neighbor who had Cleveland Public Power never lost power...Then I finally switched and realized how nice it was to have a reliable source of power instead of the chronic outages I suffered for years prior with the Illuminating Company.
Absolutely garbage utility service. Power outages were frequent and communication during those outages was even poorer. All there lines are dated and rarely see maintenance so when an outage does occur none of their back up lines work either. While there was a time and a place for quality of service CPP offers (lake erie sewage fire era), that time has long since passed. I find it extremely surprising with all the improvements Cleveland has made it the past decade that they still allow CPP to function as they do. Cleveland is on the up up and they need a electrical company with service that reflects that. Almost noteworthy enough to make them a search criteria when looking for a new house to ensure I do not have to deal with them again.
Waited on the phone for 55 minutes then the representative told me cpp doesnt service my home gave me a number for illuminating company waited on the phone for another 30 minutes and illuminating co pointed out it says CLEVELAND PUBLIC POWER on my box. So waited on the phone for another hour with cleveland public power and was hung up on before I could even talk to someone.
Twice I have moved and HAD to use Cleveland Public Power, and twice they would not turn on my electricity unless I paid the balance that was owed from the previous people who lived at the address. The first time it was over $200, the second was over $400. I have two children, one with asthma that uses a nebulizer frequently and they still would not turn it on until I had a medical form filled out by his physician which took a week to get, luckily I was able to borrow money and pay, which it still took a few days to be turned on. Completely rediculous, and I wonder if they are still collecting or trying to collect from the people who actually owed them.
Absolutely horrible! Been without power for a week now. Trying to get service turned on and keep getting the run around. I call everyday and no one can tell me anything. All my food is trash now. This is the absolute worst! Youd think a company thats owned by the city would treat its customers/residents better! I cant even switch to CEI. Im just so sick of this company!
I dont understand how there hasnt been a formal investigation into CPPs antics... Worst energy company Ive ever dealt with, in any location. They dont explain things, they withhold information, I doubt any of their employees are held to any standard of customer service, knowledge, or efficiency..Happy to have moved out of the area for other reasons, but not having to work with CPP anymore is also a huge plus.
I had a problem with our outside security lights and thanks to the team work of Gayle in collections, Beau Steinmetz, Brenda Nelson, Joyce Perry, Karen, Hilda Caraballo and the Supervisor Jim Ferguson, not only was the problem corrected, but the street lights were replaced on our street. Thanks so much for keeping our neighborhood safe!
Called in because illuminating company wanted me to pay my tenants old electric bills and previous owners.i was completely disgusted they cut the power off and basically told me the wasn’t accepting any applications at this time.so with no choice I reached out to cpp and within a month my home was inspected and the new line was installed and the man I dealt with did his job the best he could thanks for everything cpp I have my home back to normal!!
Customer service is so bad. Ive been calling for 2 days and just left on hold. I was on hold 28 minutes yesterday and gave up. It was early afternoon. I moved to another state and trying to disconnect my service. This is terrible. I guess I wont pay the final bill so someone will call me. If you move to Ohio, DONT use CPP.
I hate this damn company for real u call to talk to a customer service but they close but yea they can come at anytime to turn u off after u pay a bill this light company doesnt deserve not even one star deserve 0 stars...... They should close down the building for good and keep illuminating instead.... 🖕🖕
Worst company Ive ever had. Charges ridiculous amounts, doesnt take payments or any kind of assistance and turns your power off with kids in the house when youve been asking for some kind of help from the beginning. Lol I dont live in cleveland because Im rich. These people are scam artists, every single one of them. And I hope one day they all go through this. Now its paid in FULL. $2,349.87 and youre telling me ANOTHER WEEK BEFORE ITS ON?! I am calling every single possible lawyer until then. YOU NEED SHUT DOWN. YOUR INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEES DESERVE MCDONALDS JOBS.
After waiting on hold for 15 minutes whoever answered at 230am was RUDE UNHELPFUL and didnt even care WHERE I LIVED when I tried to explain I was WITHOUT POWER...this is absolutely ridiculous...you dont reassure your customers? You dont care about your customers... your message that gets played over and over again for the 15 minutes youre on hold states the power outage is up by Madison... Franklin...88th.... so I wanted to let you know I didnt have power down here... and was met with disrespect and attitude....how horrible...
Im trying to reach customer service for over 2 days now. Called in several times. Stayed on the line for as long as 40 minutes, listening to the same music over and over again. I had to hang up. Very annoying and frustrating. Why is it so difficult to get someone on the line?
Im not sure why the customer service is so bad, but its horrible. They leave you on hold forever, then when they do answer, its like you are bothering them. Service needs are never met. I had one agent tell me one thing, then another agent tell me something totally different. This is the worst utility company.
Moving into a new home, Called the illuminating company to see if they service my home, they answered within 3 mins.... it’s been 20 thousand years and I’m still on hold with CPP due to the illuminating company not servicing my area :( I don’t even want to move no more.... rather loose out on $74 of application fees then deal with this mess... I have a whole family and from what I see... they overcharge!!! I had cpp back in 2013 and everything was fine, I guess times has changed!!!
Try calling them ! OMG. They easily deceive you at first, by having a human answer, BUT you are left waiting FOREVER (36min, then Disconnected!) Their rude operator intentionally kept placing me back into the automated system. A representative will be with you shortly GOOD LUCK..WORST Phone service EVER in my book. IM SO GLAD IM MOVING from this place..
THEY ARE THE WORST TO GO THROUGH I CALLED TO GET MY LIGHTS ON , ON THE FIRST OF THE MONTH ITS GOING ON THE FIFTH AND STILL NO SERVICE HOW TF AM I SUPPOSE TO BE AT HOME IF I CANT SEE 🤔 , THEN YOU CALL AND BE ON HOLD FOR AND WHOLE HOUR AND STILL NO ANSWR LIKE WTF IS YALL DOING JUST WATCHING THE CALLS , YALL JUST NEED TO SHUT DOWN I HOPE YALL ALL LOSE YALL JOBS ✌🏾!!!

2022-06-086 guys on the Eastside of the Detroit Superior bridge. 5 vehicles on the Westside of the bridge. No warning that the bike lane is closed or obstructed till you get right up to the trucks. Thanks Cleveland Public Power. SMH!

2022-04-14This is most definitely a bad service providing company that makes insane mistakes with numbers then send out random outrageous bills when every month is clearly paid for. No sense of responsibility for their actions when they mess up they just expect you to pay hundreds if not thousands because they made a mistake in your bill and it’s very hard to get them to dispute anything because they continuously blame you for their hiccups.

2022-02-02Worst service in the area, probably in the state of Ohio. They do not communicate regarding outages, fail to provide adequate updates, and are unclear when estimating expected service times. One can’t even view a map of outages & effected areas on their website. Absolute bs, especially in winter months.

2021-12-08Lets face it, CPP is the worst and probably the closest thing youll see to 3rd world country power here in the US. Its that bad. Customer service is non-existent outside of normal working hours. The power goes out for little or no reason, its gone out on a sunny day, and unfortunately, those outages last A LONG TIME. Sometimes hours. I moved so I do not have their service anymore, and I can just say life is so much better! Not having to worry if the power goes out is awesome. I really wish FE would just buy them out and take over tbh, it would be much better.

2022-04-15There is way to many power outages Makes absolutely no sense and is frustrating that we have to continuously buy food cause our food is spoiling cause if the length of time we are left without power And the customer service department is rude and will not even take the time to help ease the stress of constantly waking up without power or losing power

2022-03-20This company is by far the most dysfunctional utility company that exists. I called them and let them know that I had sold the house and gave them a closing date in which my service was to stop.(2 weeks). I also gave them a forwarding address for the final bill. The very next day they disconnected my service it took nearly 24 hours to have it restored. Then 5 months later I received a letter from a collection agency. It obviously was my final bill that I never received. This utility needs changes from top to bottom. I am so glad that I moved out of their service area

2021-08-24If I could rate a 0, I would! Power was out for 2 hours on Saturday and now it’s out again 3 days later. Their outage dispatchers are absolutely horrible and rude. They never have information or explanations as to why our power keeps going out. Today, the dispatcher said it could be “an act of nature”. Really?!? It’s sunny and in the 90s! Customers need to unite & contact whoever we need to at city hall to find a solution.

2021-10-30Customer service is very terrible. I talked to a lady that was very aggressive, talking to me like if we in the streets having a debate lol All I asked was if I can stop getting someone else’s bills sent to my home. She never asked for my account number nor the other person’s bill info. She literally was just rushing me off the phone with an attitude. Please train them to work on their soft skills or hire appropriate agents that are qualified for call centers.Oh btw I wanted to speak w a supervisor and she told me it will just go to voicemail lol
