Ohios hidden gem. The maintenance at the Marina is terrible. Cob webs that scare walking under them . Great fishing ! Beautiful at night except t the Marina. Spiders have overcome the building. Beautiful place to walk, picnic. Scenery. Is amazing. Power wash the building. Please 🙏
CJ Brown Reservoir in Springfield is a huge park with a federal side and a stateside you can talk a motorized boat on a Stateside but you can launch a kayak or canoe or when border anywhere there is no horsepower limit on the lake there are tons of wide-open Prairie Trails and Woodland trails the great dam cuz Ill call you theres fins this historical science its very clean In some Asian place to go walk and take pictures of sunset and sunrise. Spectacular and tons of deer and other wildlife
I mostly come here for fishing and boat recreation. I look forward to exploring the hunting opportunities. The water is clean enough to eat from and the surrounding nature is very attractive. If youre looking for jogging trails, a quiet place to picnic or have a bbq party and a little get away from the city, this is a great place to visit.
The facilities are very clean and up to date. The grass areas are mowed regularly and the trails are kept clean and safe. We have found many areas to sit and enjoy the sounds and view of the water. The beach and swimming areas appeared to be well maintained as well as the camping and picnic areas. We will definitely return.
I love going to this place and taking walks in the spring or summer evenings. It has a beautiful view of a lake if you walk the path on top of the reservoir in a beautiful view of the valley on the other side of you. The total length of the reservoir walk is 0.6 miles. They do have campgrounds that AR really nice very camper friendly. I do know that on summer nights they show movies in the Commons area of the campground.
Went 🎣 from the bank I took my mom. I did ok I caught 5 catfish ranging from 2-5 lbs and some bluegill 3-4. Mom caught a couple. I really want to get my boat up there and fish the channels for the bigger catfish. This is a very nice area with a camp ground and public beach. The marina has all the amenities and the boat ramps looked good.
Once again Bass fishing continues to be slow, they just dont seem to be very active. Crappie fishing continues to be terrific as long as you find what specific depth they are at. Currently they have been holding at 15 - 16 ft. and when you find them you get hit every time using the Drop Shot method with a Crappie minnow set at 18. If you get out of that 1 depth section you wont get bit, thats why I say specific depth they are at good luck and tight lines!
There is so much to do and so many things to see, where do I even begin... Lets start out with the crystal clear water that is perfect for taking your young children swimming or sail boat out for a spin. The delectable aroma of nature greets your nostrils as you relax on the white sand beach basking in the glory that is the resiviour. The cabins in the woods offers a quaint rustic asthetic that gives you the vibe of being a drunken college kid in a horror movie. I recommend this for any honeymoon or birthday party. Not to mention the beds are so lush they give the Drake Motel a run for its money. The Marina is the central location for parking your pontoon or butt and enjoying a peaceful yet action packed fishing experience similar to the hit TV show Deadliest Catch. The Marina Cafe serves up the finest Lays potatoe chips in North America by far. One last topic to win you over is the on site Frolf course. (Thats Frisby Golf for all the pleebs). This intense mountain course is not for the faint of heart, so bring plenty of Capri Suns and Fruit Roll Ups. I hope to see you soon wandering down one of the numerous trails by yourself in the middle of the night ;)

2020-09-09Nice place to spend in the evening and even whole day for group of families. Just an hour drive from Columbus. Don’t forget to plan to visit the beach within few miles on the other side of the reservoir. I didn’t get chance to rent boat or jet ski, may be you can plan that as well.

2019-07-15Such a great place to go year round! Ive seen so many incredible wild animals here and beautiful plants. Great place to take pictures, I had some of my senior pictures taken her in the fall and it was perfect! The Buckhorn is my favorite trail here, but anywhere you wander is sure to be good!

2018-10-10Went here on a date the other day, great little trails to go on. We watched the sunset over the water and it was beautiful! Also have great camping sites and a little park. We have had many family events here and its always been a wonderful time. Love to walk and enjoy each others company. In the summer its a great place to swim and tan. Great place to bring friends and family. Make sure to race up Snoopys Hill!
