Good service but disappointing flavor all around. The pastas themselves, ravioli and fettuccine, tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. However both sauces, pesto on one and tomato basil on the other, were rather flavorless. The marinara that came with the meatballs was the best flavored sauce.
Definitely decent for Athens and better than a chain place but I have been to many other better places in the state and around the country. But it does have decent sized portions and decent bread but not very fond of the oil and vinegar for the bread. It would be far better to stick with the oil and herbs like most Italian restaurants have. I will probably be willing to come back at some point unless their is another Italian place that opens for buisness.
My first visit to the restaurant and Athens. It was an amazing experience. The restaurant had a great vibe. The menu had something for every pallet. Desert was to die for. Thanks for the great service.
First time eating here and overall a good experience.I ordered the Fried Calamari and a Grilled Shrimp Salad.Both were very good.Would have given 5 stars but there were a couple issues.The tables are a bit small for me 62.Also was a bit chilly inside not overly cold but enough that my Dad brought it up after the fact.In closing was a good eat and recommend if youre in the area.
Probably the best pasta I’ve ever had! The wine selection was also great, as well as the service :) Definitely a hidden gem for southeastern Ohio… excellent altogether

About a year and a half ago this was on my top 3 favorite restaurants in Athens, up with Jackie Os, Casa Nueva (which has also fallen a bit) and Salaam. The mushroom truffle ravioli isnt as nice as it used to be and somehow, its rather runny/oily. Theyve also stripped extra vegetables that used to come with entrées, now for salmon, youll just get some broccoli. Its a good restaurant, especially for a date (as long as youre not sitting on the front wall or outside), but the value and generosity just isnt there anymore. I think how you guys were 1½ years ago was a lot better. The shortcuts in quality but with the same price isnt worth it.

I really wanted to like it. It’s a beautiful restaurant and the food was pretty. The staff was friendly. The online order and pickup was seamless, and they kept the food under a warmer at the front which was great. But it was not good. All I tasted was the noodle - it was fresh and yummy - but no Alfredo flavor and barely any sauce. The chicken was chewy and rubbery. Really wanted to like it. Won’t be going back. Maybe something else would be good here. I hope others have a different experience. Im sad I splurged $20 on this :(

Try it! They are new so they are still testing to see what works and what people like. But so far Ive absolutely loved it! The food tastes like somebody really cares about what it tastes like. Staff is very friendly and the food comes out fairly quickly considering the obvious care taken to make it excellent!
I have had nothing but incredible experiences here, and its always the first place I offer to take family and friends. The food is absolutely exquisite and reasonably priced as well.My boyfriend and I usually share an appetizer, bottle of wine, and have individual entrées and still spend less than $100. The service is friendly, atmosphere cozy, and experience is perfect.

Best Italian meal ever! Took my mother in law here for her birthday and we loved it. The owners, staff, and our waitress were so friendly and helpful. Worth every penny we spent and they felt bad it took a little longer to get our food to us but it was fine. It gave us time to visit and drink tropical sangria. Yummy. Highly recommend this place for any occasion or if you just want a great meal. The bar area is great also.
On a Saturday in Athens and we didnt have to wait. The food was a little pricey but worth it. I highly recommend the salmon, it was the best I have ever had, and I been all over the world. Our waitress Kelllyn was super cool, and had some lovely earrings on. We will be back

The decor and environment was excellent. The food was good. The manager was super friendly. The waiter seemed cold and distant. They do charge for refills on drinks ($2.50 a piece) and do not have it posted anywhere including the menu nor did the waiter speak up and say anything until the bill came. My sausage also was raw on the inside and the manager said he would remove the charge and didnt but it was still a good place to come and the overall prices were still reasonable enough to just pay for it.
Phenomenal experience and food. I would love to have the meal I had on Monday as my last meal if I was ever on death row. 30/5 stars.
Party of 4 visited on a very busy Saturday evening- (OU home football game day). The experience was delicious! ..service was fast! Food looked and tasted amazing! Menu offered many options. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming for a family dinner or a quiet romantic gathering. Shout out to Kevin our server, he did a great job! We cannot wait to be visiting again!
My husband and I went here for our 5th wedding anniversary and this was one of THE BEST dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the appetizers to the alcohol to the dessert. 100/10. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and kind and the whole thing was a dining experience. I highly recommend! My husband and I left full, happy and slightly tipsy 😄
Food was amazing. But the waitress was lacking. Empty drinks stayed on the table never came back and refilled bread baskets for 11 people she put nine pieces of bread on the table and then never refilled it. The place was empty when we got there and she carried out half the plates got sidetracked with another table full of people that came in and then served the rest of the plates when half of us were almost done eating but they were sitting on the warming table visible the whole time. We still left a generous tip out of respect because the food was good the lobster ravioli was amazing. I would definitely go back but hopefully get a different house wait staff next time

Definitely in my top 3 places to eat in athens. Everyone that works there has been fantastic and the food is excellent. Its on the fancy side so dont roll in on your Harley straight from your road crew job expecting to get drunk and noisy, please... I HIGHLY recommend the mushroom truffle ravioli, its fantastic. Everything is reasonably priced in my opinion and its a beautiful restaurant all around.
Absolutely delicious. The food and drinks are to die for. The service is fast and the hosts are courteous, I couldnt ask for more in a restaurant. I would return over and over again. I had the lobster ravioli which was flavorful and tasty! We also had the chicken parmesan, which was cooked perfectly and steaming hot!
I had been waiting for a full service Italian Restaurant in Athens since I moved here several years ago... and not to be disappointed. Over the last couple of years since opening, Ive sampled many of Ciros dishes, and Ive yet to find one that wasnt perfectly executed. Tomato sauces, an important indicator of any Italian restaurant, are nicely seasoned and flavorful. The food is a definite winner, but they also have a full service bar with a good wine selection and excellent cocktails.The atmosphere is also perfectly done. Ill be continuing to come back regularly, and genuinely enjoy having Ciro as an option for good Italian cuisine and even just a place to stop in for drinks on occasion.
The three meet lasagna with cheese sauce, and my Caesar salad with anchovies was probably one of the best Italian meals ever. My wife had the same except without anchovies we brought so much home .we over ordered did not realize the salads was lunch serving too so in saying that we ordered four times the food for two. But we still would have brought over half home excellent excellent excellent excellent and one more equal five excellent.
We all got different dishes and all enjoyed the heck out of them. Great food, great service (Hail, Maddie!). Thank you for showing us once again the culinary talent in Athens, Ohio.

We are visiting Athens with our dog. Since it’s been so warm, we are not able to leave her in the car for very long. So we have been ordering takeout. We were hungry for Italian and found Ciro’s. I ordered the homemade fettuccine and my guy order the gnocchi with meat sausage snd sausage. The portion were very generous and the food was delicious!
Food - to.die.for. Seriously. Everything is top shelf delicious. Service is helpful and efficient. Ambience is completely acceptable. Just dont linger after dinner or theyll kick you out. They have a 2 hour table turnaround policy on weekends and theyll let you know about it. No harm, no foul, tables are meant to turn and these people are in business to make an income. Help them do it. Itll be worth it!
The mushroom ravioli was amazing. The other main dishes we had were just ok but not what we had hoped for (lobster ravioli and crab pasta). The ricotta cheese cake was very light and not very sweet. We loved it but I think someone ordering it expecting a traditional cheese cake might not.

Everything was awesome! This is one of our favorite restaurants ever. The Baked Caprese Portabello is extraordinary with perfectly grilled mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and fresh mozzarella- the portabello was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The risotto was phenomenal-just perfect.I had the fettucine alfredo with in house made pasta and the sauce is from a local cream. Again, the primevera vegetables were perfect, al dente. Finally, the lemon mascarpone cake was delicious as well as the cannoli that reminded me of the best bakeries in Brooklyn. The service was extraordinarily great. If I was allowed to give this restaurant more than 5 stars, I would!
A well-prepared, upscale Italian meal, served in a lovely, intimate space. I enjoyed the generously apportioned arugula Caprese salad and gnocchi. Took home a slice of lemon cake for an evening snack. A little gem--reservation recommended.
I ordered pasta with chicken. The pasta and sauce was store bought. I could hardly finish half of my plate because of artificial taste of sauce and the pasta. Chicken was like nuggets on the top of pasta. However, the place and waitresses were nice. I would not go there again for sure.
Honestly the kitchen guy not wearing a mask and the over seating kinda ruined this evening for my wife and I.The food was very good(flatbread, salads and ravioli) and the prices matched expectations. Our server was friendly and informative.But were in the middle of a pandemic and there are guidelines in place to protect everyone. Everyone deserves safety.When we went in, there were only two other tables sat and I thought that was great. Shortly after, the place filled up and a table was sat directly behind me, less than two feet behind me. So we asked for our check, paid(and tipped because its not there servers fault the manager cant get a simple task of safety right) and we left.I dont recommend this place to anyone until they enforce basic distancing guidelines and make their staff wear masks(even in the kitchen).
Stopped in for lunch while touring Ohio U. Everyone’s lunch was fantastic and the server (I think Michael) was friendly, attentive and helpful. I had the penne mushroom: I am a mushroom lover, and it was loaded with fresh mushrooms and mushroom flavor. We all enjoyed everything so much we splurged for dessert to share (lemon cake) which was also fresh and delicious. We are looking forward to when we are in Athens again and will be able to return for another meal
We had a wonderful meal there, celebrating a birthday. Our waitress was great! They’ve done a great job with the atmosphere, food was yummy. Highly recommend the flat bread pizza- yum! We will be back again

My husband an I had our first date at Ciros, but it was in FL. (13 years agp) We returned every year until we moved here. (Fredericktown, Ohio) Then I found this place. The exact same distance away as the one in FL was to us!The food was excellent, the waitress was super friendly and good at her job!! A cook even jumped in to seat us, and was also very friendly! They made a dish for me that wasnt on the lunch menu, instead the dinner! I had the lobster ravioli and my husband the lasagna!! We will make this our new spot!!!
By far the most RUDE staff I have ever came across in a restaurant. The bartender was purposefully not helping us and was trying to push us out of the restaurant. She was giving attitude every time we asked for something. To top it all off, when we were sitting there (3 minutes after she gave us our check) she pushed it towards us. She saw our drinks were empty for about 20 minutes and never offered to give us a refill. Do not go here. Not worth it
I love the ambiance and atmosphere here but the second time I went, the chicken was inedible on the fettuccine Alfredo. The first time was amazing, so I was super excited to order the same thing. Very disappointed. The chicken was like a piece of tough rubber. If I ever go back, no chicken! (Def not worth the $$)

Super friendly staff and service. We totally over ordered and loved doing so for the leftovers we have at home. The wine and food is vast so you should’ve able to find something for almost everyone. Athens has been needing this restaurant for a long time now. Great for date night, families, or just out with friends.
I always wanted to try this restaurant when COVID hit us I was very carful so I haven’t dine in anywhere. Unfortunately they are not on DoorDash so have not been able to order for delivery. Finally ordered to go I had a little conversation with the owner and I asked why they’re not on delivery apps the answer was stunning to me the answer was “Because we don’t have control over the apps so we don’t know if the food will be delivered right away or takes time and that will affect the quality of the food”.This tells you already the pay attention to the details 😊. I got chicken Spinach Alfredo and Spaghetti Ciro they were so so delicious “My Jelly Belly is Satisfied 😂😂”.And also after going there to pick up my order I saw how amazing the place is and the safety precautions taking there, I am definitely dinning in soon. And will write another honest review.

Atmosphere was great. Very nice restaurant. The food not so great. Chicken Marsala tasted like chicken was grilled right on the charcoals. Same with the asparagus, tasted charred. Chicken parm very bland. Lobster ravioli was ok. The cheesecake was the best I have had in a long time. And the calamari was pretty good. Left a little disappointed over all.
Their 25 day aged sirloin steak tasted like a salisbury steak I picked up from the Wal-Mart frozen isle. Their spaghetti and tomato sauce is alright but after that embarrassment of a steak I will never go back here. Also the meatballs tasted like it was from my third grade cafeteria.

Was amazingly wonderful.June 29 2021. Back again for appetizers and drinks. We had calimari and Grilled Romaine Caesars Salad. Calimari was good, the salad excellent.
An amazing dining experience and the staff is one of the finest in the Entire State of Ohio. I suggest the Chicken Marsala as my GO TO but really every item on the menu is Delicious. The Owners Saundra & Fran are on hand and are very Warm and Friendly. FIVE STARS!!

Had a terrific special tonight, lobster and shrimp over pasta, creme sauce. Nice roasted garlic undertones. House wine was nice with crème brulee special dessert. .Their cocktails were good, each of our parties drinks were nice. Definitely going back often. You may want reservations for weekends . ! Enjoy!
Just had my first dinner at Ciro and wow, this is the restaurant Athens has needed!! The food, wine, staff and ambiance is perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The lobster ravioli and mushroom flatbread in particular were to die for!

Ciro is a clean, bright, classy restaurant with an extensive menu selection. Our server was prompt, pleasant and knowledgeable. Food portions were ample and delicious. I ordered a salad and the vegetarian lasagna. I recommend Ciro for excellent Italian cuisine.
Athens ohio is turning out to be a honey hole of different restaurants. This place is clean, consistent, and delicious food. So far the daily specials have been amazing. Nice place to go and enjoy some amazing food. Eat inside or out.
Went last night and I was so disappointed. Food and service are definitely lacking. We received bread that was still frozen in the middle and I ordered spaghetti, which was mediocre at best. Sauce was bland, tasted frozen, and had to pay extra for a meatball (which was not worth it). Our waiter was awful. Calamari was oily, boyfriends short rib ravioli was ok, but was served with veggies that were clearly frozen. We waited 30 minutes after being seated to order. Being a former waitress I am quite understanding, but this was seriously bad. Ive had more tables at once than there are in this entire restaurant and have been more attentive. Had to constantly ask him to fill water and had to wait about 10 minutes before he actually did it. Never cleared plates of the table or took menus (all things a decent waiter should do). And I know it wasnt just us who got bad service from him. The table next to us waited forever to get their check collected, despite their efforts to flag him down (another waitress ended up getting it from them). Definitely not worth 5 stars, Im assuming the other reviews are from friends of the owner or something. I was so excited for a italian restaurant in athens but I am let down. Especially sucks being a college student wasting the little money we do have on a less than desirable experience.

Cozy Italian place which has outside and inside seating. We sat outside and enjoyed our dinner. I had Manicotti with spinach and onion with a homemade tomato sauce! My daughter had the Fettuccini alfredo! Both were delicious and fresh! We both ordered a drink. Mine was a White Sangria and my daughter had a Aperol Spritz! Very enjoyable evening. Motorcycle bar close by so there was some cool bikes to see but a little noisy once in a while. We ordered dessert which we shared. It was a cannoli which was something sweet but not too sweet to end the evening. I would definitely go there again! Clean and friendly service.Athens, Ohio
Went for an early Valentines day dinner. The menu selections were amazing, and our food was absolutely perfect. Our server was helpful, the restaurant was gorgeous inside. All in all an excellent dining experience.
Fantastic place. The town people will certainly enjoy. And really great that they do have a parking lot even if it is small but plenty of street parking. Portions were larger then we expected. The servers are very friendly and cheerful. We will be back soon.

Bad vibes. Tried to go on a Monday evening after work with coworkers and we were told that we could most likely only be sat outside. Then the manager came over and said reservations were full and sitting us outside would be a ‘fire hazard’ so we had to leave. We literally saw the reservation paper and they had like 2 the whole night and the place wasn’t even half full. Waste of time.
The waitress was lovely, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere had a beautiful jazz setting. It’s nice that Athens has such a great fine dining location now!Try the cannoli!
Had my third failed attempt to try this restaurant today. The first time I called and they didn’t have carry out boxes. The second time we went inside and they didn’t have any gluten free pasta- however our waitress assured us we could call and get take out another time. So tonight we called to get take out and they said they aren’t offering it. The girl put us on hold but clear doesn’t know how to do that without the person on the phone hearing as she asked if they were doing take out or not. The website sucks- the menu is near impossible to find. Good luck creating a customer base with poor management and lack of business plan.

The food is great and the service is also great, if you go in that is. If you order online they say they will send a text when your order is done but they wont actually send the message when it is, they will let it sit under a warmer and dry out until you come in for it.
We had a terrific holiday dinner at Ciro. Aperol Spritz was splashed with prosecco - so good. Very special lasagna dish, also tried the Chicken Marsala with fresh vegetables. Can recommend and will be coming back. Ciro takes reservations, which avoids a short wait.

Oh, Cirò, Cirò, Cirò. Where shall I start? A night here, is an experience, unmatched by most places around the world. I have been fortunate in my life to dine at Ritz Carlton, Greenbrier, Ruths Chris, and Carmines NYC, to name a few. However, a night here, spent with people that actually care about their customers is, well again, beyond measure. As I sit here and prepare to close the chapter in my life, that has been Athens 2020, Im so thankful that such a place exists. The food, drinks, and hospitality are absolutely incredible. Do yourself a favour, dine here, and dine here often, local businesses need your time and attention. I promise you, its worth it. From a Bermudian, trying to make it in the US, Cirò has been an absolute breath of fresh air. For that, I will be forever grateful.

2022-01-25My wife and I had dinner here the other night, we are from out of state and we will happily come back sometime and refer others to dine here. Our food, drinks and dessert was incredible, the restaurant was beautiful and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our evening there. The owner made us feel so welcome and the bartender Maddie took great care of us and brought us the most delicious drinks that perfectly fit our style! ♥️🙏🏻

2022-01-22One of the best Italian dinner I had in a while. Or probably even the best. It was that good. Our waiter Mark was really kind and gave us good suggestions for what to order. And everything we ordered was really good. We had calamari for appetizer, lasagna with bolognese sauce and grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. For dessert, we had cannoli. The warm apple Manhattan drink would definitely warm you up in this cold.

2021-12-16Fantastic Italian restaurant. Great drink menu, food is outstanding service is very good, price is right on. The only thing I would change is the bread they serve, they could do much better here. Other than that will definitely be coming back often.

2022-02-17Definitely dont judge a book by its cover, Ciró had a wonderful menu of exciting cocktails, and the Eggplant Parmesan was divine. Seating was a little tightly packed, but not uncomfortable.Staff were friendly and helpful, and the lemon cake was absolutely wonderful.

2022-01-31We visited early in the evening as a party of two. Upon arrival to the nearly empty restaurant, we asked to be seated. We were asked if we had reservations, which we did not, and then were told we could be seated at the bar. We were not given the option to wait for a table. Because the bar did not have much space, we asked again if we could be seated at a table after we had a drink. The hostess denied our request to be seated at a table and we felt very disrespected. Earlier that day, I had checked the website and Facebook page to be sure reservations were not required - and neither page said they were.The photos on the review show the restaurant 25 minutes after our arrival - with a still empty restaurant. We elected to leave the restaurant as opposed to staying and paying for a meal at that point.Given the high rate of Covid in January 2022, it was also very concerning that instead of spreading patrons out, they had over half of the guests shoulder to shoulder at the bar.The bartender was fantastic during our visit and the drinks were very high quality - which is what warranted the two stars on this review.

2022-04-10Absolutely great food and solid service. The mushroom ravioli was probably one of the best dishes Ive ever had. Highly recommend the restaurant. Nice ambiance, good menu diversity, great desserts as well. Didnt get it, but they had a good prix fixe offer on a Monday. Good for celebrating or casual.

2022-01-11Went here with a friend while she was in town. I’m gluten intolerant which means I always feel awful after eating pasta but thought it would be worth it! However they offered a gluten free pasta which was absolutely delicious and did not hurt me at all! I’m so happy I found a good Italian place that won’t cause me pain when I give in to my cravings! The drinks are also really good and our waiter was amazing!

2022-03-03Wonderful early dinner for a large party after a small wedding. Staff was pleasant and accomodating. The handmade pasta was magnificent. Wish I could have had both the mushroom ravioli and lasagna! Others had the amazing short ribs ravioli.
