I urge everyone to see a play at this theater. Once you do, youll want to attend ALL of them. The setting is intimate without being crowded, the sets are amazing, the production quality is excellent, the actors are phenomenal, and I could go on. The same actors do different plays, so you get to see their range from drama to comedy, and you will be blown away by their performances. The bottom line is: do yourself a favor and see a show here. I promise you wont regret it.
We saw their production of Romeo and Juliet at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Its was a fantastic night. They were well organized checking Covid vaccine cards. The bar staff were super friendly. Seating was comfortable. The play was outstanding. We very much enjoyed it. Plan to attending future plays.
Really nice culture spot. We saw a very energetic, funny and well performed play. The staging was done nice, the performances were good, and not on the last place - the seats were actually comfortable and with enough leg room. Being used to the stingy leg room of Broadway theaters, this felt really like a luxury space.
The new venue is beautiful and modern. I highly suggest the balcony seats, as we had no issue watching the performance. I would suggest the right or left side instead of the front and center seats as I had to lean up and see the front of the stage where Im short. Do the Valet parking! Its $10 and they brought our car quickly with no issues. We saw Dracula and absolutely loved it. I posted pictures of our view from the and I was in the third seat in the center of the balcony. My husband has no issue but he is tall.
Very lively characters....enjoyable to watch.... the second act was very entertaining as there was a lot of focus on the Christmas Classics and less on the Christmas around the world....the second half was more lively and reflective of the classics highlighted during that half....
This facility is *so* incredibly beautiful! What a wonderful space to create art in. I cant wait to see a show there! I had the privilege of touring the building with some friends, one of whom was a former company member for many years. We caught about 2 minutes of them rehearsing Romeo and Juliet, and I was *dying* to see the rest! It looks like itll be an incredible show. Go see it! (I believe theyre requiring vax records at the door, or a
Just saw Dracula. It was great! This was the first time I have been to their new facility and I am very impressed. The every seat in the theater is so close to the stage. The seats were comfortable and there is even enough leg room that my 62 husband was happy. They have a nice space to mingle before and after the show and during intermission. Drinks were a tad overpriced. There are a lot of stalls in the restroom so the line at intermission moved quickly.
Attended as an audience member for the play Fences. The cast put on a moving performance. The set design and lighting was excellent to compliment the piece. I loved the intimacy of this theater-- each seat offers a great view of the stage. Beautiful location and performance!
After relocating from NYC we were so glad to discover this beautiful theater. The seating is comfortable and intimate, and the acoustics are excellent. The quality of the production was very impressive and pre-ordering beverages for intermission is a nice touch. A great evening out in Cincinnati and a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!
I sometimes wonder why these actors are here. Watching them chew scenery is an absolute delight, and the new venue is fantastic. Ive been to many theatres, and this is one of the best. The new theatre is intimate with a thrust stage and comfortable seats. The company loves to work up the aisles, onto the balcony, and through the air (the new fly wires are clearly a company favorite!). Youll be right in the action and loving every moment.
Oh my Goodness Cincy Shakespeare Company has just upped their game! This new venue is absolutely gorgeous. An updated building with surprising details and little touches all over makes the time in between shows spent in the lobby a real pleasure. The staff was very welcoming and I was impressed with how intimate the seating was. I can honestly say there is not one bad seat in the house. They seat 250, but it feels like 50.We saw Dracula and it was really very good.the acting was quite impressive and I was very impressed with how polished all of the acting and set changes were, especially since we were so close to the stage. The price point for the tickets are excellent and the production and space is very impressive. I will be back!
I love the new venue. There is not a bad seat in the house. We saw, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!), the Saturday after Christmas. The actors were engaging and enthused. Although they may have done the play many times prior to our arrival, you would never know it by the energy they displayed. They made it seem fresh; as if they were telling the story for the first time, and were just as eager as the audience to see what direction the play would take. Loved it.
Miss Holmes (the play we saw) was cleverly written and very well executed. The theater is well kept and comfortable. It was also easy to get into and out of with close parking and the limited capacity of the building. If you like theater, Id highly recommend taking in one with this company.
The play Every Christmas Story Ever Told was fantastic fun! The theater was small and very comfortable. Only complaint goes to the bar...only 2 people working intermission which caused a long line. They ran out of some drinks they kept advertising, and some people didnt get through the line in time.
Saw Twelfth Night at an evening preview performance and at a matinee student performance. The play was fabulous, and the theater is incredibly intimate. It was an all-around great experience for me, my husband, and my students. Thanks a million to Kristen Race who helped arrange it all and who provided helpful study guide materials in advance as well. Cant wait to go back!
What a beautiful theater! This was my first visit to the new location and I must say I was very impressed. The seats were comfortable and there wasnt a bad seat in the house, honestly. I saw A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum and truly enjoyed it! I look forward to another visit.
Definitely my favorite theater in town! They balance their Shakespearean plays with other classics, so there is something for everyone. All their work is wonderfully done- its the one theater in town my non-theater-going boyfriend likes to go! Plus, their bar staff is REALLY GREAT, and Ive never had a bad seat (Ive sat in 5 different places in the theater). Their student tickets are really inexpensive, and if you subscribe (or early renew) your subscription (which is the most flexible subscription model in town), its especially affordable. Love this place, wish they did even more shows!
Absolutely love this place...No bad seats.. easy in and out and what great productions. Current production august : Osage County is SOOO good. Ive seen nearly 300 plays in my lifetime from Community theatre to Broadway and this is my favorite production EVER. I laughed, I shuttered, I cried... and left emotionally drained. Outstanding!!!
CSC is the best local theatre company I’ve been to by far. Every production I see here is fantastic, and the space is amazing. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and the actors, directors, producers, stage crew, etc... are extremely talented. I’ve also been apart of the Groundlings program for youth actors and taken their summer camps and participated in the Project 38 showcase for many years. Their acting teachers are amazing. Jeremy, Sara, Geoff, and all of the other staff are fantastic. Highly recommend CSC.
The seats are actually COMFORTABLE and have PLENTY OF LEGROOM. As a plus-sized woman most theater seating is horribly tight and the legroom situation laughable, leaving me feeling uncomfortable and claustrophobic. Not here. All close up, intimate seating and no difficulty seeing the stage. Noises Off! Was a hilarious and excellently executed play, the ticket, valet, and bar staff were wonderful, and I look forward to coming here again.
True asset to Cincinnati. They are pushing into new works and keeping it fresh. The new space is so well designed FOR people. They really thought about the experience. It felt very comfortable to walk in and get a drink. It was easy to get your tickets. It felt fun to be out for a night on the town. Great play too. Highly recommend.

The new theatre on the corner across from Washington Park is amazing. There is a very open lobby space with a bar and a great view of the park. The theatre is designed for great sound quality and up close viewing of the many Shakespeare and other classic plays that are presented here. The resident actors are a fantastic group of talented performers from the Cincinnati area and across the country.
The new theatre was well worth the wait. Modeled on the Globe in London, but smaller and thus more engaging, the setting finally matches the amazing talent. If you get a chance to see a production with Billy Chase in it, treat yourself. Of all the impressive talent in this Company, he is the most dynamic and versatile professional of the bunch. Do though make sure you get your tickets early enough to avoid siting in the balcony/second level. The idea was good, the design was executed poorly. Even if you do lean on the rails as suggested, youll spend a lot of time being uncomfortable; if you sit in a normal position, youll spend the whole play craning your neck to see between the light fixtures and gear.
What a difference a decade makes! Not only is Our Shakespeare Company one of the best in the world, nationally award winning and and beloved by the city, but now it has an amazing theatre in which to perform. Imagine you were a stage active, producer and director and had the opportunity to build a theatre your way... The way it should... Well, the Otto M. Buddig theatre IS that theatre. Another jewel in the crown 👑 for The Queen City.
My wife and I just went for the first time and loved it. Weve been to other big Shakespeare productions, namely Stratford, CA where they put on some of the best weve ever seen. However, this smaller more intimate setting did a wonderful job. We saw Of Mice and Men and it was great. It was separated into two acts (80 min, 50 min). They had concessions available that you could even bring in during the show. The seats were close and comfortable. It is in a safe section of the city and there are places to eat nearby. We will be going back.
Ive seen one play at the old location and when at the new. Both were A lot of fun. Im a 30 y o former soldier and blue collar worker that didnt picture myself liking plays. This theater cast out every every inner bias against it I had. Was truly entertaining and a great way to get the fam together. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was stellar.
The new venue is wonderful. The play was great Midsummer nights dream. The valet attended was beyond worst. The attended couldnt start my Jeep so he took me to the lot and point to the Jeep and gave me the keys. The battery was dead because they left the lights on. I called the box office to ask for help and complain. I was told someone would come. No one show up. I called again was told no one had cables. I called the valet company, they said someone would come. No one did. I finally called AAA. I would have given them a 5 but not with the service I received.

2021-12-28This was my first visit here and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a very intimate setting where you almost feel a part of the show )and they may call on you). It is a small theater but A very talented group of actors. Bring cash in cash you would like to tip them or purchase a souvenir to support the arts! I loved the parking right next to the theater.

2022-03-16So let me say this ... WOW!My most recent visit was to see Hamlet, which has been one of my least favorite Shakespearean plays. I do not want to give any spoilers,so I will speak broad terms. It was an interpretation not the full (ponderous) play. But the power of this presentation really gives the audience the sense of participation and it was hard at times not to interact with the tide.It should be noted that I came to Shakespeare through opera. Until then the plays were just words.Hamlet thy name is woman was a catchy phrase, but I believe that it reduces the power of this presentation, and the hard work and skill of the actors. There is not a bad seat in this theater. All presentations, that I have attended, have been imaginative and excellent.

2022-06-06Beautiful, clean, well-laid-out seating and floorplan. As a larger person, I greatly appreciated the choices in seat-width selection, and the seats were very comfortable. We watched Pride & Prejudice and it was fantastic!Overall, highly recommend!

2022-03-12This company is well known for their excellent work, but tonights performance of Hamlet is among finest I have had the privilege to experience. These artists present an engaging take on the material, crafting something uniquely their own that embodies the myriad perspectives in and of the work. A true advancement of their art, and an experience for which I offer the sincerest gratitude.

2022-03-20Impeccably well-done Shakespeare and drama. So foul and fair a theater I have not been to. Passionate, committed and talented actors. Great productions and terrific accommodations.Just fantastic.

2022-06-11Very nice facility and the performances are well done. However, there is a complete lack of security for your vehicle in the area. Multiple nextdoor were broken into and one was stolen. Recommend using a ride service to access instead of bringing your personal vehicle.

2018-12-17My first visit to this venue. The lobby had a contemporary feel with lots of wood. The bar has limited choices but enough to last through a performance. The theater is very intimate. Every seat has a great view. I saw Every Christmas Story Ever told. It was highly entertaining and kept us laughing through the evening.
