Wonderful experience! I have been to the Christmas Carol performance in Houston Texas many times and this was my first experience in Cincinatti.. Sat close to rhe stage and have never been so close to the actors.A new auditoeium is being built to house furure plays in 2023.
The show was amazing. I cannot wait to come to Cincinnati for another show at The Playhouse after all the exciting renovations coming.I saw the Buddy Holly Story and I recommend that if you are reading this and you havent seen the show GO NOW! Its on tour and would be well worth a day trip if its only in a city nearby.
Surprisingly this was my first play at Playhouse and it did not disappoint. The venue is clean and they have a plethora of some of the yummiest snacks and food items available for before and during the show. The theater itself was also very clean, seats were nice and comfortable enough to sit through a 3 hour play, the ushers were helpful and kind, and the set design was great. Because it is a somewhat smaller theater there isnt a bad seat in the place! The cast members are phenomenal! And parking in their onsite garage was a breeze as we prepaid for parking online and it was fairly quick and easy to get back out at the end of the evening. All in all, a wonderful experience!
I have really enjoyed this season thus far. I have watched three plays with my fiance. We also have already purchased tickets for shows for the rest of the season. The acting had me completely immersed. The space is great! I also like the food and drink options for before the show and during intermission.
I have been here several times before. The last time was the play; The Little Shop of Horrors. It was so close to the movie with Rick Moranis it was uncanny. A very good show. I will be taking a date there next Friday night to see 2 Pianos & 4 Hands. I expect it to be very good.Update: My girlfriend and I went to see 2 Pianos and 4 Hands. It was a very good & funny show. It was the 1st time my girlfriend had ever been to the Playhouse or any of this type of show. She enjoyed it very much. The only thing I think I could add to this is that if you get your tickets online, order the parking ticket with them as well. It for me just makes it a little less hassle parking.Enjoy your show!
One of the top-rated activities for Cincinnati! If you havent been here before for a play, you honestly havent lived. Tickets are expensive, but the productions are well worth what you pay. With such professionalism, Playhouse in the Park is one of those things you have to do at least once! Many families make it a tradition to see some of their holiday productions. The inside of the building is awesome as well. It really does have this fancy feel to it. Check out what their upcoming productions are and dont think twice about it. Please be aware that the one downfall about this place is that parking can be a bit of an issue. Ive had to park about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. There is a parking garage attached, but I cant speak about how quickly those spots fill up. Just go prepared and plan accordingly.
Cast was fantastic, we saw Christmas Carol,Scrooge was better than the movie actor. Its in the city, so come prepared for traffic, parking spot hunting and the rest that comes with the crowd. However, my ladies were happy with the cleanliness of their restroom so 👍If you can live with that they will give you a good show
Fantastic actors, great seats, unforgettable experience. My family has been going here for years, and I couldnt wait to introduce my son to the theater. He loved his first show Christmas Carol and now is in drama and were going to sign him up for classes with this fantastic theater full of talent.
We attended The Lifespan if a Fact. Very interesting play in that the main characters are an editor, an intern, and an author. The intern is assigned a story to fact check in about a week. As he digs into the details, the author has taken liberty with details. It is a funny, poignant and timely commentary on the news cycle of the day.The Playhouse is an intimate venue where one is almost in the play. The parking is limited so it is wise to purchase with the tickets. I am looking forward to going to several more shows.
A wonderful evening! Their Marx Theater is cozy & personable and brings you close to the stage and the performers. Great acting! The theater was comfortable and easy to maneuver. Long lines at the bar, but short to no lines for the restroom. A snack and coffee bar was available as well.
Production value here is impeccable! The facility is beautiful and I’ve never seen a play that I didn’t enjoy. Everyone that works here is pleasant and enthusiastic. I’ve seen about 10 plays over the last 2 years and I’m blown away every time. From “A Christmas Carol” to “In the Heights,” there is something for everyone here.
A beautiful place to see a show in a very scenic part of town. There are two theaters so they are always offering great options. Playhouse offers a variety of shows, from more artistic and lesser-known plays to hit Broadway musicals. They tend to do shows that have not really been played in this area, so its a great place to catch something new. Theres not really a bad seat in the house in either of the thrust theaters. They offer drinks and snacks in their lobby during intermissions. The theater is located on top of a picturesque hill overlooking downtown Cincinnati and Eden Park. The staff there is amazing, literally every person is wonderful. Come early and grab a bite to eat at one of the many fantastic cafes near the theater. They have a parking garage and there is street parking available, but if you park on the street be prepared to walk up a rather large hill. You definitely need to check out a show at Playhouse in the Park while you are in Cincinnati.
Some of the absolute best regional theatre in the country. I have never been disappointed with a production from this company. Contemporary and classic work present in a beautiful facility in Mount Adams. Their school programming and student matinees offer incredible opportunities to area students to see professional theatre. I am so thankful to live close to Cincinnati so I can frequent this company and share in their artistic vision each year.
Bought a zoom who dunnit it show. Received receipt and charged $20. Was told I receive my zoom email near show time. Never received email.... I called and promptly given a replacement time. This was a Valentines gift. My wife loved the show, who dunnit it zoom virtual theater....
Original staging and a clever light production of the beloved Charles Schultz characters! All the characters played many musical instruments often while moving or dancing at the same time. The cast was terrific and the energy felt like childhood revisited...even though Charlie Brown was full bearded! Great fun and endearing songs especially Snoopys Supper Song! Go out and enjoy this one!
Love going to the playhouse. It is a special treat. We saw Treasure island and it was terrific. The acting was very good and well cast. Stage was creative and well suit to the play. There was a lot of activity on the stage through the play...action packed! The playhouse is a womy venue and Cincinnati is so lucky to have such a great entertainment place.
Love the staff and the plays! We came in late and I had a hungry child with less than 10 minutes to eat something, the staff at the snack bar set me up with a baggie we could put cheese cubes in so she could eat something and enjoy the play at the same time ! The bartenders are always quick and friendly as well. If you havent seen A Christmas Carol, i highly recommend you give it a shot. I have gone to see this play year after year, it never gets old!
We went and saw Misery and loved it. The staff was very friendly and we had not had dinner prior but I didnt want a lot of food and I asked for a suggestion and that ended up being a bowl of the broccoli soup which was really reasonably priced and very good. I also wasnt able to finish it and they were nice enough to keep it for me until after the performance so I could take the rest home. The seating there was very comfortable. Parking wasnt a issue because we had paid for it prior with our tickets which I highly suggest or you could end up walking quite a bit. We definitely will go back to see something new again. Overall definately worth checking it out and having a fun night out there.
Throughly enjoyed our evening at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. We saw A Christmas Carol. There is not a bad seat in the house! Our seats were center stage in the top row. It was a great view and the acoustics are so good we had little trouble hearing the dialogue. The acting was excellent. The production lasted two hours but we were so enthralled by the performance it felt like half an hour. We will go back to see other plays.
This place is awesome! Im pretty sure that the show you see well have a lot to do with your experience. I saw August Wilsons Jitney and instantly became a fan of this Playhouse. The coffee is downright crappy, but I didnt come for the coffee. Ill definitely be back as soon as I find something that I want to see.
Its a nice playhouse with good theatres that dont really have a bad seat among them. Unfortunately, the quality of the plays they put on is a far cry from what Im used to and prefer. Ive been to 4 or 5 over the years and have yet to see one that stood out in any way, took on anything hard hitting or controversial or experimental. Its not that the acting is bad; its the script choices that are lackluster. Its like they specialize in theater for people that dont actually like theater. Ill be sticking with the savvy troupes like Ensemble and Know from now on.
1st time visit to this venue. I recommend parking in the garage. Seating needs more disclosure as I took my elderly mother. Very steep with a lot of stairs. I recommend purchasing the handicapped spaces.Staging is excellent, elevator available, good selection of drinks for young and old. Adjacent to plenty of decent restaurants and highway. Plenty of variety in shoes for the location. Definitely, recommend for locals and anyone visiting for a stay in Cincinnati.
We went and seen Misery and loved it!!! We had good seats at MXMS23SEPM. The revolving set was incredible! Staff were all very pleasant. We especially enjoyed the Q&A with the director/cast afterwards. I wish you could do more Q&As. Parking was good for $10. We love the Playhouse in the Park. We come about 3 times a year, but are trying to visit more often.
One of our favorites shows is the Christmas Carol. The actors and staff do a great job. A bit pricy in my opinion, but there are no bad seats here. We really enjoyed the show today. I also like to pre-purchase parking in the garage. Parking is only $10 this way and you dont have to walk far to get inside. You can park on the street for free, but you may have a long walk and a significant climb up a hill if it is a popular show (most are).
Although on site parking muat bemade in advance i was lucky enough to find a spot to park. I have missed seeing plays at Playhouse in the Park but this has prompted me to return. The experience was fun, exciting and professional. I look forward to enjoying the diverse range of plays at the Playhouse!
We love the theater and we love the shows, but in a city with such a great craft beer scene the selection here is very sad. I would rate it 5 stars if they started offering more. I love supporting the arts but I would love to spend my money on supporting our citys beer as well.
Still one of the premier venues in the city. Not just with stage and set design, but also with the talent that is drawn. The staff is curtious and helpful. Parking in Mt. Adams can be difficult and the quality of the restaurants in the area has been dwindling in last few years. But on the whole, highly recommended.
Great venue except for one thing...parking is the worst. Especially if there are played in both theaters. Quick there was tonight. There is barely enough parking if one of the theaters is open. But the shows are always great, the service is good and the venue is great. Still...but not a Five Star rating
Performing Arts Venue. Follow Theater Etiquette. Tickets Can Be Purchased Online or In Person. Parking Available. Arrive Early To Get A Good Spot. A Lot of Talent Flows Through Here. The City of Cincinnati is Exploding With Identified and Unidentified Talent. Always has.
Actors, actresses, and the shows are great here. The theatre has good acoustics; its not too difficult to here the show from back rows. Seats arent that comfortable, but there is usually an intermission for stretching your legs. However, I am not fond of the parking set up at all. Its a long walk up the hill if you cant find a parking spot on top. I suggest getting here early for parking, especially if you dont know the place well.
After living in the Cincinnati area for more than 20 years we finally took in a show at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. It was outstanding - a small, more intimate venue really without a bad seat in the house. I would strongly suggest you purchase a parking ticket as the off street parking near the theater is very limited and quite a hike.
I was considering getting tickets for A Christmas Carol for myself and my wife as part of a Christmas gift to her. After seeing the outrageous ticket prices I immediately decided against it. Are we getting a full seven course gourmet meal and limo service with those prices or what !?!?!? $ 125 a seat and up ?!?! I can appreciate supporting the arts but I wasnt expecting to support them all and all at once. No show is that good or worth that much for a ticket, Im sorry. :-(
EXCELLENT!! Every seat is a GREAT seat!. Its a GUARANTEED!! Fun time!. I LOVE how it is set up on the hill, what a LOVELY view of the city of Cicinnatti!. ESPECIALLY at night with all of the lights!!. Its one of my FAVORITE places to go!. AMAZING talented actors & actresses!!. Youre up CLOSE & PERSONAL with the show!! . Its simply PERFECT!!!
The Playhouse in the Park is scheduled not just for updating but for demolition and rebuild beginning in 2019. I hope the new design retains the best aspects of the current Marx Theatre (thrust stage, good sound) and the smaller Shelterhouse Theatre (intimacy and flexibility) while allowing audiences a better experience outside the theatre spaces: safer and more convenient access to parking, and maybe a glimpse of what could be a great view from that hilltop during intermission. The shows inside are consistently good. A standout was the ground-breaking 2006 production of Sondheims Company, which demonstrated the Playhouse managements commitment to creating great theater with the best the country has to offer.
I have been to the Playhouse multiple times over the last 10 years. My first experience was Always the Patsy Cline story and we were hooked. My husband didnt really want to go, but after much encouragement, he did go and loved it. I have seen Christmas Carol 2 times and look forward to going back. We have been in both theaters and thouroughly have enjoyed everything we have gone to see. Its an excellent value for a nice evening out whether you are out for date night with your honey or having a girls evening out. One if Cincinnatis jewels!
Beautiful theater in the Mt. Adams neighborhood in Cincinnati. There is a coat check for the colder months. Come early and have a drink at the bar or get some light food/coffee at the cafe. Youre allowed to take food and drink purchased at the theater into the theaters as well.
Very nice theater in a cool location. The productions Ive seen have been very well done and I will most certainly be going back for more. Parking can be a bit bothersome if you havent prepaid for a spot in the garage, so I recommend a taxi or Uber to get to and from if you can.

2022-03-18As good as theater can possibly get, honestly. Superb production design, great cast and actors; great directors, etc...The production of Christmas Carol is stupendous. Captures the spirit of Charles Dickens world beautifully. The building is awesome too, and the seating so comfortable. Highly highly recommended.

2022-04-02Did not give me the option to give zero stars. Let me just start by saying I hope this doesnt reflect on the actors because Steel Magnolias was amazing. With that being said I surprised my best friend spent $205 for our tickets when we arrived there I asked at the box office if I could upgrade because my friend had never been there so I paid an additional $107 to get front row. Because of their mask policy although both of us brought our vaccination cards even though it is not state-mandated and the masks that people were wearing and the ones that they provided have been proven to not even be effective with that being said my friend fell down the stairs because her mask fogged up her glasses and they dont have a handrail on both sides which is bewildering to me because 75% of the patrons are elderly. At intermission which is only 20 minutes at full capacity of about 600 people it is completely impossible to use the restroom and get a snack and of course the snacks are separate from where the cold sodas are so you have to wait in three different lines, obviously my friend who was still injured did not leave her seat I was trying to get us some water and a snack and use the restroom myself it is just not enough time and once I returned apparently I was 20 seconds too late and was told I could not re-enter after spending over $300. A few seconds later manager at the door let me go back in once the show is over I helped my friend up and a rude Usher told her to put on her mask and my friend refused she said she was already injured and I was trying to help her up the stairs she just wanted to be able to see this time and the Usher responded WOW. All I could think is wow to this place. I dont know how this place is OSHA approved. I took my friend home the show itself and actors were amazing but we will see tomorrow if I need to take her to the hospital

2022-03-17Rooted was an interesting play, delving into the complex relationships between sisters, among sisters and the internet, and between sisters and the world at large. The theatre was a perfect venue for this production.

2019-02-07We got to In The Heights early, picked up drinks from the bar and then ordered food from the cafe. Drinks were priced accordingly for the venue but good pours on whiskey and wine. The food was amazing for pre-made selections. The show was great! We may see it again before the run ends! Well be back this season for sure.
