Really cool place. Has something for everyone. Plan to spend an entire day because there is some really fascinating exhibits. Started with the trains, then space, then let the kids run and play in the kids area, then dinosaurs and science. We still didnt cover it all. All the staff were great, cheerful, happy and helpful. Kids and I cant wait to return.
Very enjoyable for a museum trip the staff was fantastic everything is as you would expect from a museum nice and clean well organized everything was very well explained in great detail and many interactive displays which is good for when you have kids its a great trip for the family I would return here again myself
We went to the childrens museum and the natural science side as well. The kids were thoroughly entertained! I couldnt help but feel like it was more of a giant playground than a museum however. The natural history side was short but had fun learning interactive portions as well. Overall it was a good experience and really unique compared to other museums!
We loved going to the museum its been a few years since I had last been there. I was glad to see that they have made both the Cincinnati history and the natural history sides hands on for kids. The childrens museum is fantastic. They made learning a fun experience for the kids, as well as for the parents to explain that is happening. The workers are very involved in helping everyone have a fun experience throughout all of the museums. We will be visiting the museums often from now on. My daughters loved the dinosaur bones
Really cool museum with so many different areas and exhibits that cover a vast variety of subjects. I had a ton of time walking through. They changed so many of their activities to also be touch free and safe for covid. They had tons of accessibility features for the disabled community, from braille to ramps and elevators for every section.
If this had been a review from before the remodel I would have asked if I could give it higher stars. Some of the remodel is great but for the most part I really dislike it. I used to love going to the museum center. Like love love love. Didnt matter how many times I went I always found something new. Now Im not sure if or when I will ever want to go back... It seems like they are trying for a minimalistic look. Museums shouldnt be minimalistic. Its okay to change and remodel but I feel like this one just didnt work...
Absolute let down. We are from out of town and took a weekend trip to Cincinnati to do some fun family stuff. This was a total waste of money for us. We have children, 3-13 and none of them enjoyed Any part of this museum. Very boring. The “children’s museum” area isn’t really a museum. When I think of children’s museum I think of Indianapolis. It is a 4 level children’s museum that kids actually enjoy! This is like a daycare play center and that’s all. It’s definitely not bigger than a day care center. We didn’t even stay for an hour here. We went to Dave and busters instead and had some real fun! I would never recommend anyone to go here; I already warned my family it’s not worth the cost at all. We won’t be coming back.the best part about the whole thing is the actual building is beautiful and the paintings on the wall inside. That’s all!
This place took me by surprise. I am from out of town visiting and was definitely impressed. There was so much to do that me and the family spent several hours here. The favourite was the childrens museum. I highly recommend everyone visiting the city to check out this attraction. Theres something for everyone.
I’ve always enjoyed the Museum Center even as a child. They have been working on renovations for a while. I can’t wait till they are finished to see the new exhibits. They are up to date on their website for details. Beautiful history in the building itself. Lots to do for all ages. Also, a bear that was at the original Natural History and Science Museum. One of my favorite things is the ice cream shop. So many facts and lots to see!
Great experience for the family! We had an 8yo and a 1yo and they both had a blast. Definitely wore them out afterwards. Really cool stuff for the kids to do. As well as interesting things for adults. The building is incredible. We only did the basic things and we would go again!
We enjoyed our visit here. It was pricey for a one day visit, but we decided to buy a pass. There was a discount in place through May, so it only cost us an additional $35 to buy a pass for the year. I would highly recommend this museum for a single day visit or a year long pass. Our 12, 10, and 6 year old thoroughly enjoyed themselves 😉
Was closed for remodeling but it doesnt seem like much Was changed except common space areas. All the interactive areas for the kids are the same as before and alot of the functional toys that interact do not work. For the price of a membership it seems more could be done to enhance the experience.
Definitely worth a visit. The entrance fee is good value. 2 areas for about $15. The Pixar exhibition is extra. I really enjoyed seeing the dinosaurs, they have an amazing 50% complete fossils of a couple of them! DONT MISS the Holocaust display- its separate from the main museum, however, its the best display Ive seen, with real interviews from survivors. I spent 2 hours in that area alone!
My wife and I took our two boys and baby on a Friday morning. We showed up at opening. There was no line and parking was easy. I strongly recommend you buy your tickets ahead of time. Especially for new attractions like the Pixar exhibit. They are timed entry, so you get a time slot to show up and you get so long to tour the exhibit. All in all we had a great day. We saw everything in about 6 hours. The people that stand just inside the front doors were so nice and helpful. You cross this area going from one museum to the other and they are always so helpful and good with the kids. I will say I will probably pack a lunch next time as the on site restaurant was pretty expensive.
Always a favorite place! Massive restoration of the historic building - Cincinnati Union Terminal - was completed a couple of years ago. The Museum Center had also been refreshing their exhibits the past few years since the restoration was finished. Shaping our City was the first new exhibit in the Cincinnati History Museum, and now the We are Here exhibit has been a very popular space in the museum. Special exhibits have also been a great draw to bring people back time and again, including Holiday Junction at Christmas and now the Pixar traveling exhibit. The Childrens Museum remains a favorite among kids and parents, as do The Cave and dinosaur exhibits in the Natural History Museum. Doesnt hurt that the building is so beautiful and unique.
This one day I volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club (Dudley S. Taft Boys and Girls Club) to go on the Field trip. It was a fun experience to bring the kids out, they went to the playground had fun. But we went to the food/shops to get some things and they only accepted card, Only if they had accept cash it would of been great. But overall it was a pretty cool place to go especially if u work with the Boys and girls club, CRC (Cincinnati Recreation Center) or and Summer Program.
A wonderful place to visit for families and others. I especially liked the interactive light exhibit (my video is not supported here), the polar bear, dinosaurs, media, and many vehicles. Even the the aquarium was sold out before we purchased tickets, our trip was worthwhile by our visit the museum. Thanks!!!
The place was incredible and made for a great date as well. Went in at 10:30 and we didnt leave till close at 5. Tickets are on the cheap side, especially for the special events they have like the OmniMax theater, the Pixar event, or the Holocaust exhibit. The food courts also had very tasty and refreshing food. One con was that the gift shop was incredibly overpriced, but all and all, it was awesome
The location is the highlight here. The Cincinnati Union Terminal is an Art Deco wonder and such a beautiful and historic location. The museums however left a lot to be desired in my opinion. If you aren’t going with kids you’ll probably be slightly bored and the size is fairly small. You’ll be able to see the entire museum in about an hour. Overall come to see the union terminal and keep your expectations for the museums on the low side.
Great attraction in Cincinnati to spend an afternoon. I did not go in the museum center, but the outside is a beautiful site. There is free 15 minute parallel parking around the perimeter. If you plan on staying longer, parking is $6, or if it’s after 4:30, it is $4. This is a good rate because it is not hourly. So $6 can last you the whole day. I enjoyed simply walking around the sidewalks and looking at the architecture. I would recommend bringing your camera to capture this site. There are benches around the fountain area and you can see the skyline of Cincinnati behind you if you’re facing the clock. I had a good experience here.Tip: bring a picnic lunch to enjoy here as it is basically a small park! Just do not leave anything behind.
Such a disappointment. Half of their exhibits were removed to be replaced with classrooms, two whole halls were empty, and entire sections were just closed off. They said they had a restoration. Yes the murals and building looked much better, but removing so many exhibits seems like destruction rather than restoration. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
Its been years since Ive been to the Cincinnati Museum and I always love coming. I came here on a birthday date, I think its a lovely thing for two people to share. You get a feel for natural and space history, and then walk over to the other side to see some Cincinnati history. We also went to see the newest featured exhibit, which is the Mayan exhibition. There was a lot to explore and many of the hands-on activities were covid-friendly, so that not all the interactive activities were taken away. I really enjoyed the experience!
We last went to the museum center about six years ago in 2016.They have just completed their multi million dollar renovation so I was excited to take my two children back. What an absolute disappointment and waste of money. The Cincinnati history museum pretty much offers nothing except a train display and a trolley car. The natural history and science Museum only offered cool dinosaur fossils and a couple cheesy science type displays. My kids enjoyed the children’s museum the most but it was the exact same now that it was six years ago and pretty much just like a fun daycare type space.A complete waste of $50. Everyone is much better off driving to Indianapolis if you have children.
Wow, what an experience! The size of this place alone amazes me! I visited the holocaust portion, the Maya exhibit, the history museum, and the natural science/Neil Armstrong museum. The amount of detail is impressive. These is so much to take in here. Will definitely be coming back and bringing the kids!
One of the primary objectives of a museum is to properly convey historical accuracy. The large scale model display of Cincinnati in the 1940s is quite remarkable. However, the museum made the tasteless decision to incorporate gay pride flags throughout the display, completely ruining the historical integrity of the exhibit. Why would the museum choose to display a flag that promotes any particular sexual preference, as it has absolutely nothing to do with educating its visitors about how the layout of Cincinnati looked in the 1940s? What an unbelievably disappointing decision by the museum. Stop trying to promote a wicked agenda and actually educate your patrons, not indoctrinate them.
Such a great place all ages can explore. They just reopened the Childrens area in July 2021.The Omni max movie theatre has great movies. I recommend the rainforest bears that is play as of now- July 2021. I also recommend the Holocaust and humanity exhibit. Very well presented, interactive exhibit, and help you learn about a history no one wants to repeat.
This is a very nice museum center. I went here and was immensely satisfied with my experience. I walked in here and was awestruck by the absolutely stunning Art Deco architecture of the building. I bought a museum ticket from the ticket desk and went to the history museum. I walked into the history museum and went through its replica of what Cincinnati looked like in the early 1900s, which was very big. After looking at that, I went to see the museum’s exhibits about the history of Cincinnati and walked inside of a replica tram car. After doing. That, I walked down to the lower level of the history museum, where I walked through a replica street of Cincinnati in the 1800s and walked in a steamboat replica of those used in the 1800s along the Ohio River. The replica street had a photography studio, pub, and clothing store that you could walk into. After walking into all those stores, I walked through more exhibits about the history of Cincinnati until I got to the museum’s exit. I took the escalator back up to the museum center lobby from the museum. When I got back to the lobby, I went to the museum center’s food court where I had a waffle for lunch. The food court had about fifteen tables with four seats each. After I finished eating my waffle, which was very good, I went to the Science Museum. I looked at the dinosaur bones on exhibit there and walked past that to the DNA exhibit, which I also looked at. After that I walked through the rest of the museum before leaving. After I went to the Science Museum, I left the museum center, satisfied with my experience. I gave this museum center five stars because it has very nice architecture and a very good history museum, boring science museum, Holocaust museum, and children’s museum (I didn’t go to the Holocaust museum and the children’s museum was closed due to COVID).
Today is June 30th 2022 and they have no water fountains for their customers because of “covid”. That is highly ridiculous, we are all adults and can assess the risk of infection ourselves. How is it even legal not to provide an operation water fountain? Since I’ve been here I have seen 2 other children ask where are the fountains besides myself.
My visit to the museum today was fantastic. It was good to see it partially opened. The Libby was beautiful and shined. Lines were looking, but as members we could go and enjoy, the trains, entry area of natural history (,more to open in spring) and riverboat area. It was good to see progress made.
A family can easily spend the day here and get their moneys worth. Several exhibits and a lit of interactive attractions for the kids. You can also eat while attending the museum. Parking was $7 but I will warn you theres only 1 way in and out so if you leave at closing time it bottle necks badly as you exit the parking lot with your paid parking ticket.
This is a great place to spend a day with the family. Theres a little bit if everything. The kids discovery area is great fir the small ones. It has a water area where the kids can play with fountains aand waterfalls while learning how water flows and how boats travel. It also has a bunch of play areas like a vet, a preyend kroger, a construction site and so much more! There is a section with dinosaurs and even a mixk up of Cincinnati in its early days that teaches about what it was like back then and about the river boats. There us a model riverboat you can walk on that highlights the features if the amazing machines. Theres a space area all about the sun, stats, and moon that has some interactive games to play. Also if you have an ebt card yiu can get in for like 4$ or something like that although truly the paid membership is worth ot as it gets you into a whole bunch of other museums. All and all it is a fun and affordable way to get in some good quality family time, and explore a palithera of subjects and ideas to expand yoyr knowledge and find out where your inner passions lay!
I loved it. What a wonderful place. The City has also recently renovated the station to provide a better visitor experience and the definitely got it right. Make no mistake, this station, built in the 1930s, is still an in operation train station (Amtrak) as well as a visitor center, houses several museums and special exhibits, and has some of the best value for the buck restaurants you could find anywhere. This special place deserves everyones support, and its a wonderful destination for any family age toddlers to grandparents. And there is more that you could possibly see over numerous days making a year pass an exceptional deal.I visit a lot of places and write hundreds of reviews, and this place is definitely in the elite tier of family activity destinations in my opinion. Highly recommended.
This a very incredible place! It was a train station very very beautiful! Now its a museum with an amazing cinema! I personally saw the part of natural science with dinosaurs and the old Cincinnati, absolutely suggested to everyone. I have also the possibility to see the temporary Destination Moon and it was exciting! Parking super top. Suggested place both for families with children but also for adults!
This place will take your breath away when you walk in. Its a beautiful building. There are multiple museum to visit within the center. We have see a couple of the special exhibits and have been the the childrens museum multiple times. Snacks are crazy expensive. Three bags of chips and 2 seltzer waters cost $17.28. Try and eat before you go.
Ive been to the Museum Center many times and it is always a pleasant experience. Over the last years it is gotten a little pricey to go to all of the venues at the same time but each exhibit is well thought through and the presenters at the exhibits do a wonderful job of telling theyre stories.I have always especially liked the Cincinnati Riverside exhibit with what appears to be a real riverboat that you can board and a real 1800 Cincinnati Street where you can see the merchants and the printers and The Butchers. If you are coming to catch a train, remember to go to Amtrak.Com to train status to see if your train is going to be late for departure or arrival.
Always a fun place to visit! There have been many updates since I was a child and when I walked up the front steps, passing the fountain I felt as if I was a teenager again, visiting with my family. Childrens museum had so many fun, hands-on things to do.. The water play and kitchen were particular hits on this visit. There is some construction by the miniature city/train but still lots to see (yes, theres still a pretend 🔥 at one of the buildings!). Theyve added a virtual reality dinosaur activity (that is extra but only around $5-6) on the other side with many more hands-on activities. We saw Cuba in the Omnimax and I highly recommend it. The music, people, water life, architecture... Beautiful!
It has multiple museums inside this art deco restored building: childrens museum, science, city history, and special exhibits. I would say none individually are excellent, collectively its an interesting place to spend a half day. Childrens museum was alright though not something that will draw me back (ball area was more suited to 7+ and water area for 2 and lower). Enjoyed the physics play area in the science area best, along with the large model replica of the city in the city history area. It is mostly stroller friendly, bathrooms on lower renovated levels are plentiful and nice. Do carry your tickets to go in and out of the different museums. What makes this place special is that the building itself is beautiful. Note that the stone and high ceilings do make for a very loud experience with the echoing of all the kids 😀. Pay for parking when you buy your passes. On the day we went there was ample parking available.
We visited the childrens museum and a part of the seasonal train display and the Lego room. We have a 14 month old and she loved it! There was plenty for her to do and for children of all ages! My only complaint is the price. It was $14.50 per adult, $5.50 for our daughter, and $6 parking. Makes it hard to afford the whole family to visit. They do offer you a pass and that total you paid will be deducted. They have a room with a bunch of plastic balls everywhere and simple machines and air tubes that all connect. One minute you are launching a ball at a target, the next, a bucket is dumping a handful of balls on you. She enjoyed herself. They also have a huge dramatic play area with a grocery, vet, restaurant, house, etc.. they also have an area with huge blocks to build with and a rock pile that kids can use a crane to play in. Our favorite was the huge water table. They have water proof vests and dryers, that was nice. There is also a big jungle gym that looks like a wooded area. Definitely geared more toward older kids... 3 and up but I was able to go up with her.We walked through the Lego Land and it was so cool. They have buildings and forests full of Legos. The detail to design was just amazing. There was so much and we could have easily spent all day there. The bathrooms were clean and the whole place seemed to be tidy.
A very nice place for a day-out with friends or family.I took my friends who were visiting Cinci, and it was my first time there. I wasnt disappointed. So much fun equipment to try in the science museum, insanely detailed lego, train, retro models.Note... more fun for kids than adults, however adults can still enjoy their time there.
The downstairs area for the kids is awesome!! We went on a school field trip and the had so much fun. Everything is hands on for the kids and they have areas split into all different sorts of activities. They have a area for painting, crafts, water play, tree house with tunnels and slides, small live animals, ball area, construction, veterinarian, play store with stocked shelves, house, ice cream stand, soda pop stand, large teeth to clean and so much more... They also have a large parking lot that has many handicap spaces and the charge is $6.00 payable upon leaving. Great Museum for the entire family!!
Visiting the Cincinnati area with friends. Wonderful history in this facility. Many attractions to see today. Im sure the attractions change with season and time so I would check them out before going. Today we had so much to do. The omnimax of Apollo 11 was a great show. Worth it for sure. Then many other things to do. Good family day.
We went to explore the holidays around the world. This was a free event in the terminal area. We learned about Christmas, Hanukkah, Lucys day and many different other traditions. We only paid to park but had fun marveling at the terminal interior and learning facts and doing crafts. I would recommend this to other families. There is also a New Years Eve event that we have never been to. But for $6 just to park it is a pretty reasonable event.
We visited this museum center during our Christmas and New year visit to Cincinnati but we loved some parts of the museums but some sections were not included to the discovery ticket fee so we couldn’t visit Moon Experience section and I found Apollo part very poor on includings. Lego installation and Duke energy model trains were truly amazing.
Awesome place! You can get access to 3 different museum areas for one price. There is science stuff, history stuff, a whole big childrens area with a water table and big climb and play area and a lot of hands on learn ansd play stuff. One thing we all really liked was a replica of an underground cave/tunnel type thing that you can walk through and it tells you all about what youd find ans animals/insects/rodents that live there. There is a gift shop, and several places to get food. They also have a 4d theater but that is not included with general admission. We saw the one about volcanoes and it was very cool.
A great family place to go and take your children to, they can learn while they play. My grandson loved it. We will definitely be going back! The atmosphere was great and the employees was great, they also had places inside to order food and gift shops to go shopping!!!
This was our first visit to the Museum & our main reason was the Egyptian Exhibit. The old railroad station was beautifully renovated. Everyone was super nice & exhibit was beautifully done and informative. We went at 10 AM when it open & didnt leave till 4 PM. See attached pics.
The building itself is a gem in the community, with beautiful Art Deco architecture and the grand rotunda. The Cincinnati Museum Center is a great tenant in the building with lots for families to do and see. We checked out the special exhibit (Destination Apollo) and were quite impressed. The Cincinnati Museum and the Natural History and Science Museums were also cool, however, they are still working on filling them since the renovation. Lunch was good and reasonably priced for a museum (two meals for $20).
Great Museum that just keeps getting better! Wonderful kids area downstairs. Awesome new dinosaur section. Has been closed for 2 or 3 years while they have a health E renovating and now they are slowly reopening sections of the museum. Worth the visit even though they are still finishing up some of the sections.
Measum is great fun for entire familyModel trains are the current exhibit. They crazy detailed. A reproduction of Cincinnati in 1949.Moon landing exhibit is neat in your into that.Youth exhibitions have increased dramatically since I was there 6 years ago.Had a great time crawling around in tubes are there big tree.Dinosaur flight is fun to your into VR worth the five dollars.Enjoyed a relaxing walk through the nature paintings.
The Egyptian show was spectacular! This afternoon we toured the event and when you go, plan to be there at least two hours. They have the tours starting about every fifteen minutes so there wasnt any big gaggle and you had time to see evey installation that includes a real mummy! This is the first time they have had this in the US so I suggest getting there soon for this unique event.
The Childrens Museum of the Cincinnati Museum Center is an amazing, hands-on, safe zone for kids of all ages and abilities. Parents, friends, and other adult chaperones can play as much (or as little!) as they want, as you can safely let your kid run free in each area. However, if your kid is under age 5-8 depending on the area, you must accompany them. Dont worry... youll want to! Whether you have a shy-quiet- precocious mini or an outgoing- outspoken-adventurer, there really is something for everyone. And...oh yeah...they learn stuff and happily tell you how cool it all is:p. Minus the SUPER high price of food(non member: 2.99 nature valley granola bar, 6.70 flour tortilla wrap with ONE slice of turkey&cheese with goldfish crackers...obscene), I highly recommend the Cincinnati Childrens Museum. Next time, Im packing a healthy, protein loaded lunch to fuel them to walk, jump, & explore the rest of the afternoon!(Oh, and under construction? NO PROBLEM! Call first. Go visit.)
Extremely inexpensive and a great place to learn and have fun. There are 4 museums located inside this beautiful building that used to be a train terminal. Make sure you visit the lower levels of the museums especially the Cincinnati history museum. The holocaust museum was my favorite- very interesting and very sad.
I love this place! There is so much to do here. I took my almost 2 year old here and we were there for 4 hours and still didnt even see anything! Its very interactive and educational. Theres something there for everyone to enjoy. Its a far walk from the parking lot to the museum so Id recommend a stroller if you have little ones. Its family friendly inside and strollers can be parked for a bit if you dont want to push it around. Theres a cafe or two inside if you need a meal or a snack. Theres a small shop as well. It looked like new exhibits were coming soon and renovations are going on to add more enjoyable activities to your visit! I highly recommend.
Drove by once years ago and promised to return. Beautiful old structure and the space is well used. Still appears to function as a stop for trains and buses. We saw the Egypt exhibit. Well laid out and lit. Hope to return and see more soon. So happy we were able to explore before returning to Youngstown following the state genealogy society conference.
This was definitely worth the time in the money. Our children had a blast exploring all of the different types of rocks in the caves all the activities downstairs in the childrens museum. Our Ages were 3/5 and 6 each one of them had a blast I would fully recommend doing this but make sure you have more than 2 or 3 hours. Because theres so much to see
Loved this place!!! So much history! We took a free tour of the building! Wow! Thanks to Don the volunteer who showed us around! You will love learning about all the “3” s in the building! We expected more out of the Natural Science and History part, Children ‘s museum should not be missed if you bring children!!! It was great!!! People in Cincinnati and area you don’t want to miss seeing this beautiful building or anyone from anywhere will enjoy this best building!!
My husband and I went for the Egypt exhibit which was absolutely amazing. I loved all the peices on display and the staff did a great job at answering questions and giving lots of bonus information. The exhibit was layed out perfectly with plenty to see and was definitely worth the trip. Plus the gift shop with all the Egyptian trinkets was sublime! I spent over $200 on statues and trinkets - canopic jars, a sphynx jewelry box, bastet, resin scarabs and Egyptian plushies too! I didnt stand a chance!!!My only real complaint is how bare the rest of the museum was. This was our first time ever attending but we were pretty let down with how little there was to do. We browsed all the other exhibits our full pass offered us and it only took about an hour. We spent the rest of the time while we waited for our Egypt movie just browsing in the main gift shop and buying more awesome stuff. A mini T-rex Skull replica!? Yes, please! A huge plushy Mammoth? Absolutely!!! 🧡
Really nice place to take your kids. We went when they were displaying the star wars costume exhibit, and had a blast. Aftwr the exhibit we took the kids to the childrens area. They had a wonderful time. The museum is still under construction, and we are already planning a trip back for when its completed.
I was there about 10 years ago and made it a point to see the largest half-dome, art-deco terminal in the world built in 1933. The terminal has been a National Historic Landmark since 1977. It was worth the walk from downtown to stroll up the long gardened driveways and restored fountains to enter a transit palace! Amtrak’s “Cardinal” between N.Y. and Chicago stops here thrice weekly, as it has since 1991.If I could leave ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+⭐️, I would!
The Cincinnati Museum Center is a great day to spend the day or several. Recently visited the Egypt pharaohs exhibit and couldnt have been more impressed. We also enjoyed the Egypt movie at the Omnimax Theater. The renovations to both the Museum Center and the Omnimax are fantastic. The parking leaving was a little chaotic, took about 15 minutes to exit from the south lot and the rest of my friends waited over an hour!
Very historic art deco masterpiece. Still an operational railway station though now mainly dedicated to several museums. The main museums are the Museum of Natural History and Science; The Cincinnati History Museum and the Duke Energy Childrens Museum. There is also an OMNIMAX theatre on site as well. Finally there is also an amazing little ice cream shop tucked to the side near the entry for the Museum of Natural History and Science.
Such an awesome museum. Was in town for work and decided to do some exploring of the city. I came across this place and had to check it out as a museum lover. So glad we did, lots of cool facts and artifacts from history to science the museum was well put together and we had a blast learning and reading about different things. Highly recommend for Adults and Children.
A must watch museum around Cincinatti area. We visited this spring and thoroughly enjoyed it. This building contains multiple attractions inside. Cincinnati natural history museum which has multiply exhibits for children to explore history and science facts like sound, air pressure, ...etc. The Cincinnati history museum has history of locomotives and other industries around the area. The Dukes energy museum is more children’s play area, best suitably for small kids. We enjoyed volcano movies in Omni max theater which has good sound effects. Best indoor attraction works for any season. Worth spending one full day with early start from open time of all exhibits.
I had not been down to the museum since the revamp, the childrens museum is amazing! There is literally something to do for children of all ages. Great social experience for the little ones as well as many educational experiences. My one and two year olds had a blast.
I LOVE this place, especially when the Egyptian Exhibit comes to town. The terminal itself is a showstopper. The museum was clean, parking was easy. The exhibits did not disappoint. I will say it was very overwhelming and confusing on what ticket package got you what and where you could go and not go. A lot of options, I only wish we would have taken our time to decide and ask more questions about it at the ticket counter. Overall though we will be coming back, we love it
We went for the Pharoh exhibit. They had amazing artifacts and some interactive displays.Everyone was really nice, but the guy at the entrance to the exhibit and the guy who did the intro to the tour were not customer friendly; felt like I was entering a military zone, lol. No phrases like welcome to the exhibit, were excited to share with you, etc...They were like the intro to fight club :Rule #1: no good or drinksRule #2: no flash photographyRule #3: dont talk about Pharoh Club!!A lot of the displays of buildings from that time have buttons that light up areas of it, and some are really cool, so press every button you see, ha ha!Overall, $38 for one adult and one child and parking, Id say it was worth it!
An art deco architectural and cultural gem of the city with seemingly nine lives. Many go for the museum, and rightly so. Some go for the IMAX, and why not? A lucky few arrive to take the train. But, you can also go just to stand in awe of the murals, magnificent dome, and the Rookwood (Graeters ice cream) parlor. Plenty of parking and close to downtown. About the only thing missing is a decent restaurant.
We really enjoyed our visit to the museum today. The renovations looked great though the museum isnt fully open yet. Look forward to the full opening of all exhibits. We bought a family membership today for $140 that includes named family members, kids, and a year long guest pass. Great value! My only negative critique today was the parking. Needs help! Little information about how to validate and pay for parking. Spent 30 minutes exiting parking lot. That cant continue! To their credit, my call to the safety office persuaded them to keep the gate up to drain the parking lot. Safety department was very responsive! Thank you!
Amazing place. Just the art-deco train station is worth the trip. Home to the Cincinnati History Museum, Duke Energy Childrens Museum, Museum of Natural History & Science,OMNIMAX Theater andThe Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center. Great traveling exhibitions and holiday trains! A regular stop for us in Cincinnati.
This has always been one of my favorite museums. The Art Deco architecture of the building takes you back to days long ago from the moment you head into the driveway. The exhibits are always rotating and the childrens museum is always a hit for the kids as well. Anytime you have a chance. It is certainly worth looking into.
Union Terminal was opened in 1931 was a huge contribution to moving troops during World War II. Also the inspiration for the Hall of Justice for the Super Friends franchise. It is now been turned into a museum for all to enjoy and is currently under renovation. Not only can you do activities in the Cincinnati historical Museum, the Natural History Museum, theres also the Duke Energy Childrens Museum,. With constant rotating exhibits it is trying to keep the membership Spirit Alive. However the Cincinnati Museum Center has engaging activities all throughout the city of Cincinnati and throughout all seasons.
Theres a lot to see here. I love the holiday display. The dinosaurs in the natural history museum are nicely displayed. There are lots of interesting areas, such as the caves, to keep adults and kids entertained and interested for hours. The old Union Terminal building is spectacular and well-maintained. The separate eating area is large and well-ventilated. (Its the only area where masks arent required.) If you want to see the whole museum, plan to spend 3-5 hours.
I love this museum most of the time. if they dont have everything open because of not enough people, if can be less awesome. the kids museum is great fun. the omnimax is great but the steps in the theater are a little steep. the caves in the history museum is cool. I really love the riverside area and the Christmas trains.
We went to the museum to see the Egypt exhibit. It was wonderful, lots of beautiful artifacts that had never left Egypt before. We also watched the Omnimax film on mummies and were surprised to learn scientists are using mummy DNA to try to make a vaccine for Malaria. We also went to the Natural History area and enjoyed playing with the baripus educational interactive displays there. There is a Holocaust exhibit there now too, but we ran out of time and didnt get to see it. The Museum is well eorth a trip. Check it out!
Heads up.. parking is wide open til the end of January. Dont be like me who used their online ticketing and got nailed paying $6 for free parking (which couldnt be removed from the cart). Tack on the $3 convenience fee and it left me a little surly. No refunds either.
The Museum center at Union Terminal has always been one of my favorite attractions in Cincinnati. It has just recently been remodeled to its original 1930s. The Omnimax theater is the most impressive IMAX facility I have ever experienced! A definite must go destination.
Please understand, I have lived in Dayton, all my life, and have been by the Cincinnati Museum Center, at least a thousand times, but never in all those years, stopped to actually go through it. I have been able to go through it twice, now, in the last month, and a half. The museum itself is wonderful. All the exhibits are beautifully created and invite all to see them. However I was completely let down, because you dont have any Trains that come to the terminal building. And this thing that comes at midnight, or around that time is an Amtrack joke. This building was built as terminal for the nations railways, and should continue to this day. There is not much that I agree with this current President on, except the need to greatly expand our train systems. Mr. Biden is right. At the very least, me and Joe agree on this. Lets agree to start building our great American railway systems back....
My husband and I visited over Thanksgiving and it is such a beautiful museum. Absolutely LOVED the dinosaur exhibit. If were ever back I hope the exhibit is finished! The Cincinnati history exhibit was a little difficult to find but the staff are super friendly and they helped us out. The mosaics are gorgeous!!
We love taking out girls here to play in the childrens museum, but thats only if we can manage to get by the gatekeeping troll that checks for tickets/passes down there. She told my wife she was not permitted to go in since we had drinks in our stroller. My wife just wanted to go to the nursing room INSIDE THE CHILDRENS MUSEUM. Also, once we got in, every single person in there had drinks (pictured). Total foolishness. ProTip- hide your drinks on the way in.
Any excuse to visit this amazing building is valid. This time I went to see the Apollo 11 exhibit. I was a little disappointed by the size of the exhibit; I was by myself and really took my time and I still didnt less than an hour and a half inside. The artifacts that were there were really cool, though. Getting to see the Columbia command module from three feet away with no glass barriers was really worth the price of admission alone.
My school came on a field trip to see the Apollo 11 exhibit. It was absolutely fantastic, it the rest of the museum is also very good. The cave was amazing, highly recommend going through it if you find yourself here. It was very interactive, and that was really good. I have been to other museums that had a little more to see and do, but this one is still very good. Nice restrooms, didnt have any food there. There werent a whole lot of people when I was there, dont know about other days and times though.
This is a great childrens museum! Lots for younger kids to to in particular. I have a 3, 5 and 7yr old and they really enjoy coming here often. We have the family pass and I think it is reasonable price for what you get. They also offer classes during the week that are discounted if you have the pass. Another great place in Cincinnati!
The museum was AMAZING! There were so many different things to see and definitely something for everyone, especially the kids! The price was very reasonable for as much as there was to see. I have two complaints, however, neither of them would keep me from coming back. 1, they do not take cash except for at the ticket window (gift shop and food was card only) 2. I wish there were more Dinosaur skeletons, I understand they take up a ton of space but that was 99% of the reason we went
Its really great. Most of the large attractions are open again after a lot of renovation. So on IMAX with the kids it was awesome. As usual, the large domed screen Christmas train exhibit was really fun, although my little kids dont enjoy the trains as much as I do now
This was an awesome experience for both kids (ages 4-11) and adults! The kids absolutely loved this experience and enjoyed themselves well beyond expectations. This place is absolutely huge and offers numerous hands on things to do, interactive educational displays and endless other exhibits to view.Extremely educational and the staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The Lego display was INSANELY COOL! The display filled an entire large room and even included a Lego city of Cincinnati! The Christmas train display was very large, detailed and amazing to watch. The on sight food is a bit pricey but not any more than a ballgame, county fair, etc.I highly recommend visiting the museum with your family... youll be glad that you did!
Christmas train exhibit. Plus there is so much more to see. Beyond the train room is a Lego display, different jobs - your kids can even do a news cast (well read from a teleprompter). There is an old riverboat and so much more. Plan a few hours. Oh - if your children - or adults - love DC comics notice that the exterior design is the Justice League.
Went to the Cincinnati Museum with my son and his fiance just to see the Egyptian exhibit while it was here. I was amazed at seeing hundreds of artifacts that were from the times of the Pharaoh. When I was young until now I have always been interested in Egypt and its history. The exhibit had so much information for us to learn about each object and the way they lived.
Great attractions for ALL ages, very large building but staff are friendly and very helpful. Its pretty easy to get lost but eventually youll find your way out. Very modern and intriguing. Food is VERY expensive $10 for a sandwhich PANERA sells for 5. Very affordable otherwise. Kids under 3 are free, 6 for parking. Holocaust and egypt displays cost and additional fee but theres already plenty to see. Beautiful view from the front and gift shop is very inconspicuous, your kids will never see it.
Didnt get a chance to explore the entire museum with the family, but what we did see was great. The childrens museum is in our top five as far as childrens museums go. Our kids range from 4 to 15 and they seemed to enjoy it pretty well. It was very clean and looked up to date. I loved that it wasnt crowed which enhances the experience. The museum in general was very clean and the staff was very friendly and engaging. They supplied extra information about exhibits and helped the children with the hands on exhibits. The low crowd likely helped with that. All in all, we will be back whenever we are in Cincinnati again.
Such a cool place with so much to see. Younger kids will LOVE the childrens museum (there is an enormous tree house area they can climb around in). The building is very cool inside and admission buys you entrance to all the mueums inside, so theres something for everyone.
A great way to spend the day. An absolutely beautiful and iconic building (used as the basis for the Hall of Justice in the DC comics Justice League). Plenty of great photos to be taken just from the outside as you walk up. Parking is ample and easy. To the unfamiliar, it’s kind of treated like they split the attractions into various “sub-museums” on the same campus, despite being one primary admission ticket (Natural History, Children’s Museum, Cincinnati History Museum, etc.). I will say that it was slightly annoying to constantly having to re-scan your same admission ticket every time you go into a new section… but I understand why (multi-purpose building, etc.) When combined all together, it makes for a pretty cohesive museum experience, although I think the natural history museum really steals the show. The exhibit design, experiences, and information is really top notch. The Ice Age section was a real highlight, immersing you in “ice caves” with flowing water, etc. The other “Cave” experience was not open, but I’ve been told it’s even better and worth coming back for. Other highlights for me were the ancient buffalo skeleton (had never seen that before), the massive video screens for the space sections, and the huge miniature model of Cincinnati. Kids will love the climber section (The Woods) in the Children’s Museum. It was a fun chaotic way to lose your kid immediately… but it all works out.As for food, the main cafe in the rotunda was open and had pretty decent options (expensive, but that’s a museum for you). We tried mobile ordering, but it immediately cancelled our order and we had to go up and order from the kiosk. I would not say there is “plenty” of seating… but we didn’t have too much trouble finding a spot. We had already seen the movie playing at the OmniMax, but I’m sure their facility is great. We’re a museum family, so we spent most of the day there, but at the very least I’d plan for 3+ hours (more if you’re grabbing food).
Easy parking, beautiful walk to entrance with fountains, (which are off in the winter). After entering, the customer service is directly in the center of the plaza. To the right is an original ice cream shop, virtually unchanged piece of living history before entering the science museum. The science museum had a VR flight simulation, one word, awesome!!If you go to the left is the history museum, not qhite as good as the rest of the museum but, a great model from the mid 1900s. Also to the left is the childrens museum packed full of fun for children from 2-10.Overall, glad I am a museum member.

2022-06-10Came here with my 22 mo old and my 3.5 year old. Was nervous that they would find any of it interesting and was pleasantly surprised. They LOVED it. The Children’s Museum is excellent. The Art Deco architecture is world class. It’s a really fun place and I’m glad we spent our afternoon here. We had a little over 2 hours and had to run through the last bit. I wish we’d of had more time because our boys were obsessed.

2022-04-05My nephew and I have been here a handful of times and we absolutely love it! There a variety of museums and exhibitions to explore. He loves looking at the dinosaurs and exploring space. It’s definitely a great place to take children (and honestly, tire them out a bit). The omnitheater is also a fun and immersive experience that will surely impress the little ones. I also had a great time. It was a big space which gave people plenty of room to explore and there was minimal waiting if any.

2021-12-28We had a great time visiting! The building itself is a must see! We spent literally all day on our visit here. The museums are wonderful and had great exhibits. We really enjoyed the traveling Pixar exhibit. It was definitely worth the ticket to experience if you want to know how Pixar creates its films.

2022-05-26We originally visited the Museum Center for the Pixar exhibit, but stayed to check out the other museums located in the same building. They building has some great architecture features and style and I was glad we were able to check it out. The Graters Ice Cream Shop was a nice surprise as well as the cafeteria.

Our latest visit was to the Pixar Animation exhibit, an exhibit displaying the steps and stages of bringing these beautiful animated films to life! Lots of hand-on activities! 2022-07-03Historic Union Terminal is a beautiful classic Cincinnati landmark. Its been one of my favorite places since I was a child. It was originally a train station. Its been a shopping mall. Now its home to Cincinnati Museum Center and Omnimax Theater. It has served as the model for Super Heroes Justice League and its the perfect location for hosting an event. The murals and rotunda ceiling are wonderful.

2021-11-06I absolutely loved this Museum, the history of Cincinnati was fascinating and had many many neat exhibits and unique architecture. It took about 3 hours to go through everything but it was absolutely worth every second. I highly recommend swinging by here. The space exhibit and fossils were quite neat. I would love to return here again! This was Union Station before a hefty remodel but a lot of the buildings original design was kept in the remodel

2021-12-12Its one of the best museum experiences in the area. The Cincinnati Museum Center offers separate museum experiences centered on American and natural history along with a childrens museum, Omnimax theater and several unique and travelling museum exhibits. At the time of this writing (Dec. 2021) the temporary exhibits include Behind the Scenes of Pixar, Holiday Junction (Christmas trains), a Neil Armstrong exhibit, and Lego exhibit. Our family group consisted of seven people with three young children. We spent a six-hour day and only explorered half of the offerings. The children love the childrens museum tree house, water table, ball room, and other exhibits. We ordered lunch from the on-site services which included burgers, hot dogs, and fries. The food is a little pricey but enjoyable. We love this museum and purchase a yearly membership for the family.

2022-06-30The museum went beyond expectations. We did the Pixar exhibit which was very interactive. We arrived early so the museum was not very busy. Unfortunately, we were only in Cincy overnight and had only allocated three hours to the museum. In hindsight, that was not nearly enough. They had so many exhibits that we could have spent the entire day there and still not see/do everything. We also did the Ancient Caves OMNIMAX and it was interesting to see how history can be studied by the buildup of water. Before we even left, we said that we needed to plan a trip back to spend an entire day.
