The kids and adults alike love this place! The fire engine truck that you can get into is so cool and the horse looks real! The gift shop had affordable souvenir items as well. There was one thing that was bad... The fire engine Pole that you can slide down, I dont recommend that since my nephew slid down and busted his eye.
Our Cincinnati Art Museum hosts many special exhibits. Current Burning Man exhibit gives an interesting insight into a world most would never know. Wander the museum halls mixed with Burning Man original items and documents along with a Van Gogh or 12th century art works. There are two parts planned for this special exhibit. The current exhibit will be replaced by phase 2 after June 1st, 2019. There was so much to display that it required these separate dates. Phase 2 will show through September, 2019. The museum is a delight even without the special exhibits. Schedule a luncheon at the cafe. Food is delicious and not expensive. Enjoy a glass of wine on the patio with you meal surrounded by stunning beauty.
Great place to stop by with the family. Spend as little or as much time as you want there. Admission is not very expensive. Kids 6 and under always free. They even have a fire truck cab inside that kids can get inside of and drive (great for photos)Celebrates the history of Fire Fighting - and the first public Fire Department in the USA, started over 150 years ago! They even have an original steam pumper fire truck on display, pulled by horses.Great history. Call ahead for a large group and arrange for a tour. They host birthday parties and corporate meetings / events as well.
Very friendly staff with detailed historical displays and information. On site reenactor to tell you about the origin of the professional firefighters and their early equipment. Also has a handful of photo opportunities, but be warned that the fire truck display for getting into has a few functional switches and the siren can surprise you (and the kid goofing around with them)Parking available nearby and theyre conveniently located in the heart of the city. The whole tour takes 30-60min
Interesting place showing the rich history associated with firefighting in Cincinnati. Many display cabinets with historical memorabilia, well labeled. Antique firetrucks (!) and equipment is well displayed. Bottom level can be reached by elevator, stairs or sliding down a fire pole! Well suited for school and community visits.Seems unlikely to draw lots of visitors; entire outfit is donation and volunteer run. Might be better served if it could share space with the Museum Center at Union Terminal.
As a fan of history I enjoy visiting the displays and learning about the history of firefighting in Cincinnati. Did you know the first professional (non-volunteer) fire company in America started in Cincinnati? This is a great place to learn, and I believe it will be even more effective when they can renovate and expand.
Fabulous little museum on the history and development of firefighting. Interesting descriptions, a few nice kid-friendly interactive exhibits, engaging displays, and good local history of Cincinnati as the growth of the city relates to new firefighing risks/challenges and how innovations were created to meet those challenges.
Very fun place to visit in downtown Cincinnati! We learned some fun facts - I never knew that once upon a time water pipes were made of hollowed out logs! We saw some very cool displays, some are interactive and its a great place for kids to learn about fire safety. Family memberships are very affordable. I took off a star because some displays were dusty - meant for authenticity? I dont think so, every fire station Ive ever visited has been spotless.

2022-06-03Worth making time to swing in. Cincinnati has played key roles in the development of the American Fire Service. Care and depth of interest have been invested in creating this unique educational environment. What we enjoyed most is the accuracy conveyed in the displays about the sequence of innovation and the historical periods of equipment development. The Cincinnati Fire Museum is superior to many firefighting heritage display sights around the country. It really captures and shares a lot of the spirit and detail of the profession and of this national protector group. Bring kids to ignite their creative interests. Have your kids drag you to spark your gratitude, understanding and enthusiasm!

2021-03-23WOW-Moment in downtown Cincinnati. We came here on one of our Ohio TuesDayTrips adventures. We were able to see fire fighting equipment from the past through current times. Cincinnati was the first to have professional firefighters.A fun part for us was a type of scavenger hunt to answer questions. This gave us a bit more insight into the equipment, evolution of fire fighting and the lives of firefighters. We recommend you find time to visit here.

2020-09-02Very interesting learning the history of of fire fighting and fire apparatus. They have a short movie that gives you the history of. I had no idea that fire engines began in Cincinnati or how they evolved. I found it to be very interesting and inexpensive. Two floors of exhibits and worth the hour it took.

2022-01-27Pretty unwelcoming. Wouldnt spend much to come here. Only 1 grumbly staff member and only 1 other guest during our short visit. Lots of signage warning you to not touch and ring only once. Nothing interactive for kids. Meh, skip it and go to the Museum Center.
