Dr. Meier and his staff were very friendly and excellent. Yes as mentioned in some other reviews there is a wait time, but it is worth it as the Doctors do spend a good amount of time with the patients to make sure all questions are answered. The front office staff, assistants and opticians are all friendly and helpful as well. My wife and 2 sons will be going here now. :)
Last minute appointment booked, was irritated about the wait; they seemed to be a very very busy office but after being seen, it was a great experience. Maybe I dont go to the doctor enough but who calls a visit to the doc an experience. Staff members were nice and very diligent when getting to know vision and appt history, so much, that I was irritated they had so many questions but in the end I really was glad I went there. The facility is top notch, too, and Dr Donahue was very sweet. One star down just because I dont like when doctors over book to have patients wait but it might be because you can only Google so many local doctors and really there arent too many optometrists listed.
I love the doctor and the courteous service. However, the waiting area by the rooms isnt very comfortable and there is nothing to break the silence. My biggest complaint is that it takes FOREVER to get through to make an appointment. Im usually on hold for at least 15 minutes
The best retina doctor you ever find at least in Ohio including Cleveland; yes I’ve had doctors at Cleveland Clinic & CEI. He is a truly caring doctor with great skills & knowledge. I & my husband are so happy that we eventually found him after we went through several well-known top retina doctors in Ohio.
Their billing department is completely inept. I had a routine checkup same day as my son. Same exact insurance but they stated the my exam wasn’t covered. I called my insurance and they stated that office never billed and to refill using a certain code. I called and spoke to office twice. Both times they said they would get back to me. Never did and when I called back, had to REExplain myself for the umpteenth time. So frustrating.I am going to pay and file a claim with my insurance company because their billing department is a complete joke.Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.
My vision is miraculous after cataract surgery with Dr. Meier!I am 61 years old and I had terrible vision before my surgery. For years, I used eyeglasses at a strength typically required for people with macular degeneration. Making matters worse, I had developed thick cataracts. By the time I had cataract surgery, I couldnt see anything clearly.Dr. Meier thoroughly examined my eyes and explained my options. I chose to go with multifocal intraocular lenses. Its been 5 months since I had multifocal intraocular lenses implanted in each eye and my vision is incredible now. I feel like I am the recipient of a miracle! Now, I only use low magnification readers if I have to read small print, but I have 20/20 vision at mid and long-range distances. I feel like the clock has been turned back 25 years on my eyes.Dr. Meier is amazing! He is brilliant, warm and professional. His staff is highly competent and pleasant. I had one of my post-surgical follow-up appointments with Dr. Donahue and she is also excellent. I have never waited more than ten minutes for an appointment. While the cost of a multifocal lens implant is several thousand dollars more per eye versus a monofocal lens implant, I have never gotten more bang for my buck.I cant recommend Dr. Meier, his staff and the procedure I had highly enough. I am thrilled with and so grateful for my outcome.
Nice facility, new and refreshing decor . The office is very well equipped . A optometrist assistant did most of my eye exam and she is very knowledgeable to answer my questions and concerns . then the optometrist Dr Fox double checked on the prescription and eye abnormality . She also informed me if I up the power of lens I might have difficulty seeing things closeup ,which is common issue for 40ish. I decided not to get new glasses in the end . No pushing at all . Everyone is friendly and helpful . Two thumbs up !
Edit: If you have Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye), see these guys before seeing a regular doctor. I visited a regular doctor on a Saturday who confirmed that I had Pink Eye and the prescribed an eye drop that was for BACTERIAL pink eye. With symptons not getting better and me needing to get back to my regular work tasks, I visited these guys and they diagnosed me to have a VIRAL Pink eye. Within 6 hours of the right drops, I am clearing up. These people are awesome! (End of edit)I was very impressed with Apex. Very friendly and professional staff. Also very nice facility. These guys helped me out quickly and are bow my new go to eye care specialists. Thanks!
This is not your average eye doctor. A diamond in the rough, a four leaf clover on a dune in the desert. First of all, the front doors to the lobby are basically the gates to heaven. Once entered the staff or should I say the angels are just perfect. The glasses that are being displayed are all just glowing and ready to be hand picked. The technician that worked me up did an AMAZING job. I would never forget how well she did, and I was her first patient she would work alone, and wow wow, I was oddly comfortable around her, even though I usually get really nervous around girls like her! Her name was Alissa M. She wasnt my favorite there though. Cortney G, was my favorite. She was the one at the front desk I dont think she ever stopped smiling. Super polite and patient with how annoying I usually I am. If I could give more than five stars I freaking would!
I have been very plkeased with the thoroughness of care while examining my eyes, as well as how caring the staff are each step of the way. They have worked to fit both me and my husband with the contact lenses that are just right for each of us, which has sometimes been a bit tryciky over the years. There has never been the least bit of problems at any point in time and only the best of care and customer service.
I have caresource and had called for an appointment and was told that they accept it. What I wasn’t told by the receptionist was that they only do the eye exam and you have to hunt down an eye place for glasses.I’ve been wearing glasses for 25+ years and this is the first time I have experienced outright deceit by an eye exam place. Anytime I have called anyone for an appointment at a medical office I have always been briefed on what service is covered and is being offered.I’m so furious, my exam wasn’t even done by the the doctor, instead her assistant did the exam. I’m reporting them to the BBB because I feel that they’re extremely dishonest and fraudulent.
This is an edit of a former review. I had given APEX a 1 due to the optical shop. I am still holding them to a 3.5 (rounds up to 4) due to communication difficulties. As stated before Dr. Fox is awesome. Her office hours are limited but we both enjoyed visiting her. The optical shop is another story. The expensive contacts are still expensive, however, the charge covered a lot of additional items that were not made clear in my wifes visits. Make sure, before letting them do work that you clarify exactly what it is that you are paying for. I believe that the quality for cost is there, the communication just isnt.
BEWARE! Wish I had read these other reviews before I went. Eye exam was fine - nothing more than I usually get done. But I did mention that I had concerns about my eye health due to a family history of glaucoma and a personal history of gestational diabetes. Well apparently because I mentioned my health history my bill was coded diabetes mellitus which of course my insurance wouldnt cover. The insurances preventative care only covers codes of refraction. I guess this is a way for them to get more money than what insurance is willing to pay.
Not happy with my results. I went to Dr. Hudak for a droopy eyelid. He decided instantly that both needed to be worked on. He said the other eye was going to start dropping eventually. He also said that theres a chance the brain could reset itself . Causing the eyelid to drop again or stay the same. (Those things were questionable). After surgery I realized that the left eye was slightly more slanted and still dropped more than the right. He said it was due to the swelling. Its been 2 weeks since the surgery so the swelling has gone done but the drooping is still there. What a waste of time and money!
Extremely disgusted and disappointed with the approach that Eye Care Associates uses when billing. As a 10+ year patient, my 33 year old daughter, who has a learning disability, went in for her annual eye exam and was told by the receptionist that because of the recent change in the health care law regarding regular exams, she may (or may not) have to pay more that the $30.00 copay that she had been paying for years. Her insurance is OUTSTANDING and specifically states that it covers regular eye exams. Confused, my daughter asked the receptionist again if it would be covered. She was told that it depended on how the doctor CODED the bill and that she wouldnt know until she received the form from the doctor AFTER the exam. Confused, yet trusting, she had the examine (the exact same procedure for 10+ years). When she took the form to the receptionist, she was told that the exam was not covered by her insurance and she had to pay $165.00!!! Beware of this potential scam!
Had a cataract removed by Dr. Meier. Was a very pleasant process between Apex and CEI. Thank you for making me see clearly after 10 years of being practically blind in my left eye. The staff at Apex Mason were so kind to me. Changed my life! I will be going to this location for the rest of my life. They also except Caresource for this operation.
Suffering with graves disease and the staff was was so nice I cant even tell you how gentle Anness was an exceptional doctor he took time and actually examined my eye and referred me to a specialist. Also had someone set me up with all the information and I couldnt be happier.
Any questions I had were answered clearly. Everyone is always friendly and smiling. I am confident with their care of my eyes, including eye infections and removal of eyelid growths, and recently the much-needed cataract surgery. I am so thankful for the clear vision I now enjoy.
Took my mom there for further testing on the recommendation of her eye doctor. The doctor we saw wouldnt shake her because he said he had a bad cold. Yet, he used his ungloved hand to hold her eye open, and got in her face to look in her eye with the scope. Two days later, my mom came down with a bad cold. I would think a medical facility would use better Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
Dont even think about going inside, they will write you a prescription for new glasses without telling you that nothing changed, in fact they lied to me openly saying that my vision was worse and then giving me the exact same prescription I had before. Of course I didnt know it was the same, and only found out after the glasses were done. When confronted with it they had the nerve of saying thats what they always do: writing a prescription doesnt mean you need new glasses! What bothered me the most was that they didnt care to apologize, no, they only care about the money they can make, not about their patients!
Procedure went just fine. The issues began when they took 6 months to correctly invoice my insurer. Tried to bill me for the whole amount because they couldnt correctly do their job. Accounting staff is rude and inept. Their screw ups cost me money because of the timeline and my HRA. Wont be back, there are plenty of other providers in the area.
WENT ONE TIME FOR MY YEARLY EYE EXAM- NEVER AGAIN- THEY BILLED MY INSURANCE FOR PINK EYE- WHICH I DIDNT HAVE! INSURANCE PAYS 100% FOR EXAMS - THEN THEY SENT ME A BILL FOR 40.00 CO PAY- SO I HAD TO CALL MY INSURANCE TWO TIMES THAT HAD TO CALL THEIR BILLING OFFICE TO GET ALL THIS STRAIGTENED OUT. PATIENT BEWARE!! FELT LIKE INSURANCE FRAUD WITH THIS OFFICE- I WONT BE BACK!!!

2021-09-24Dr. Meier is thorough and always professional. He takes the time to explain to you everything that he sees during your eye examination.I’ve had a bad right eye every since I was a young child, I am now 71 years old. He went through what caused my right eye condition and what potentially could be done with a corneal transplant. He gives you options along with his professional opinion.I think he is a great optometrist!Rick Bacon

2021-03-12This is my first experience with cataract surgery and after care, I know several patients that have had the same surgery, and I am surprised at the outcome that they had compared to mine. I have had both eyes done, and now for the first time in my life since age 6. I have 20/20 vision!!! The aftercare has been wonderful . I share my story with everyone that has a need for an eye examination that will truly be complete, with all the answers you have on your eyesight. I can’t say enough about Dr. Meir or the compassionate staff. Thank you from an old lady that can see with out glasses, and feels free for the first time in years. Thank you.

2021-03-04Dr. Meier was very thorough in explaining my glaucoma diagnosis. He went over what yo expect in the future and alternatives to eye drops if necessary to control my open angle glaucoma. Everyone that have encountered at the practice has been very friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend the office and Dr. Meier. I feel very fortunate to have been referred to him as my ophthalmologist.

2021-11-16The 2 doctors I have experienced over 5 years were excellent. However, between 2020 and 2021 they more doubled the exam price without prior notification, so I will not be returning.

2020-12-16The eye care is phenomenal, and the doctors and very thorough and are perfect in their field. They take this pandemic seriously and go above and beyond to give a phenomenal experience. However, they aren’t perfect. I had to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour to just get my appointment in, and then the lady looking at eyeglasses took almost an hour to get everything done. While I agree in quality service, there should be a limit, and this passed the limit. All in all, they are great for good eye care, but expect to be in that building for at least 2-3 hours.

2021-09-18Very knowledgeable and talented staff. Very professional and courteous treatment. Moderate wait time to be seen by staff and then by Dr. Meier. Dr. Meier is skilled in examination, discerning at diagnosis, and good at explaining treatment.

2021-06-29After suffering from quite a major eye injury, Dr. Donahue was a welcome asset. I had a corneal ulcer that came very close to perforating. After it healed, I was left with enormous scarring. She has relentlessly advocated for me and is still continually finding what may help my vision. The quest is far from complete but she brings such positive energy with her expertise that the quest isnt so dismal or insurmountable. Super-highly recommended!! The team of optometrists that work alongside her are a perfect fit!!

2021-10-25Dr. Fox is the only eye doctor I will go see. I even had Lasik surgery a few years ago and I still see her yearly to check my overall eye health. I’ve been to other ODs due to insurance requirements a few years back and I was never impressed. I came back to Dr. Fox as soon as I could!

2021-05-01Be prepared to sit and wait. We spent two hours inside for a simple contact exam. They charge $100 for contact “training” ( mandatory and not covered by insurance) and another fee for the fitting. Waste of time and staff was not apologetic about the long wait. Will not be returning. Cancelled appointment for other child as I don’t have time to spend a half day there every appointment.
