Tammy was incredible from my inquiry to my move in day! My unit was a recently updated unit and its exactly what I was looking for. I wouldnt say these are luxury apartments but they are solid apartments with fantastic amenities. Now a days the housing market is expensive, but I feel great about the price I pay because the complex is safe and provides all I need. 2 bed 1 bath and amazing amount of storage. I came from a house and was worried about space. This helped me minimize the clutter but still provide me plenty of storage for additional items I needed tucked away. Location is fantastic as it is close to freeway and many stores and places to enjoy. Love the fitness center and pool. Excited to see how this year plays out!
I lived there a little under 2 years. When it was time to renew they sent a letter saying that they are not going to renew when I called to ask why they said they don’t have to have a reason. When I moved in I mentioned my shelves in my closet were broken and they were never fixed. And I know its not their fault but my car constantly got scratched in the parking lot and no one ever said anything. Back to pretty much being forced out that was a burden. I work a lot so now it’s hard to find anywhere to move. They also said it takes 30-40 days to even receive my security deposit back. It’s just pretty unfortunate. Some people said they were told the rent was being raised and I didn’t get an option at all. Never got any complaints against me either so it was pretty sketchy.
Absolutely terrible, unprofessional staff in the leasing/management office. Every call is met with attitude and missed calls never returned when a message is left. Management absolutely needs a revamp.I got my brother in here and they got him to sign the lease under the assumption that we got a referral bonus to only change what they told him AFTER he signed the lease.Do not live here. Something is always broken or done wrong.Only positive thing is a responsive service department.
I love living here but the management doesnt appreciate quality residents. We have to sign away all of our right for future litigation against them but they are free to litigate against us and require us to pay all attorney fees for them. Also why dont the elevators have the certificates posted inside the buildings or notifications of a public viewing space to see them? They have been hidden for years.
Id rate zero if I could! They renovated my old apartment instead of using soap and water to clean it up after I moved MONTHS ago and think Im gonna pay $900 for it. They also refused to take someone off my lease after they assaulted me on their premises until corporate got involved and refused to change my locks after they said they would and knew he had keys AND was still in the intercom system. took 2 MONTHS to get the intercom changes. and they had both elevators out in my building for a WEEK and I had to walk up 5 flights of stairs after I JUST totalled my car for a WHOLE WEEK until they fixed one.Lets also note that when I moved in I found an expired coupon under the heating register that was YEARS past the expiration date, showing they didnt clean the apartment in YEARS. It also had a horrible smell when I moved in but it was all I could find in the two days I had to find an apartment!
Homeless due to mismanagementI had been a resident at Chestnut Lake for a while, over a year. It wasnt horrible at first, despite the management constantly telling me theyd tow a vehicle in the middle of a pandemic(October if I recall correctly), where licenses and registration was deemed valid until the end of the year. Then it gets horrible. I moved to another apartment in building #5. Around January 7th(2021), the apartment above mine, clogged their toilet, causing a huge flood in the apartments from floor 6 to floor 1. This was not clean water, and having a newborn, I requested a new apartment, as a contractor stated that the apartment was hazardous due to (potential) fecal contamination in the water. I was told that my concerns were not valid, and that theyd shampoo the carpet, and paint the walls. I had written documentation from three parties, stating that it was unsafe for habitation, as well as extremely hazardous for a newborn, yet the apartment refused to do anything to accommodate.I was virtually homeless, with a newborn, and a partner who just came from the hospital and a physically draining experience. I eventually sent documentation, and had to get consultation from lawyers to break my lease. The real kicker, is that they sent their maintenance men, their contractors, and other staff, into apartments with Biohazardous water, without proper PPE or explanation. The contractors that came out to repair my apartment had not been told that the repairs were needed from a (potentially) fecal contamination leak. There are some good people here, like a couple maintenance guys, as well as the leasing office. They understand how horrible the situation was, and apologized many times, for the lack of professionalism management displayed. This is my experience with Brookfield properties/Chestnut Lake. This is not in attempts to drive business away, or cause any downturn in business.
I only had a few problems with this apartment. First, the rent increase for renewal was high. Second, the end stairwells smell like feces and urine. I got sick to my stomach every time I had to walk through, which was often because the elevators were down most of the time I lived there. The maintenance guy was really nice and they always sent someone quickly whenever I had an issue. If you do not like to be hot - youre in trouble. You cannot control the heat and it comes on very early in the fall and they dont shut it off until its really warm outside. My electric bills were very high from running the wall unit constantly just to keep it tolerable. The bedroom doesnt have a unit, so most of the time I couldnt stand sleeping in there. They keep the landscaping very nice and have been working on updates, which is great. Dumpsters are a hike, so be prepared. The apartment itself was very clean and appliances were all very nice. Good place for a single person who is at work a lot. Close to the highway and a few stores and the gas station - which is nice. There are far worse apartments out there.
I lived in this dump for nearly three years. During that time, Im pretty sure a week didnt go by when there wasnt some sort of police activity at my building. Constant (false) fire alarms were also an issue for awhile. At one point, the idiots upstairs flooded their bathroom and - as a result - practically flooded ours as well. Over half of our ceiling had to be removed and we lived with a plastic sheet as a ceiling for a couple months until maintenance decided to finally replace it. (And it still leaked after it was fixed.)One time they closed off the parking lots to pave. There was no paving. They simply sealed the pothole-ridden lots. What a waste of time and money as well as a huge inconvenience to everyone with a car.We once got a call from the office informing us of numerous complaints about our children making noise in the hallway. Our only children had four legs (cats). The office is too lazy to actually look into anything themselves and likes to just throw out accusations instead. As others have said, the elevators in my building broke down A LOT. Thats what happens when you refuse to update decades-old elevators.Lastly, they are blatantly lying about each area of each building getting cleaned 2-3 times a week. If that was truly the case, you wouldnt be able to spot the same piece of trash in a hallway for at least a straight week. That happened on many occasions. And I could probably count on both hands the number of times I saw anyone vacuuming on my floor over the course of three years.Do yourself a favor and dont even considering renting here!
I’ve been here for about 4 months and I hate it. There’s always some alarm going off. The maintenance staff doesn’t want to fix anything. There was a leak under my sink with a puddle of water and a horrid mold smell. I called the after hours number and they told me to put a bucket under the sink and they would be in first thing in the morning. Guy showed up almost an hour later than he said. I told him I was pretty sure water had gotten behind the dishwasher and he opened it and told me there was no water in it. I had to call the office to have them come back out to pull out the dishwasher. I was told “there’s no water behind the dishwasher but just let it air out for a few days.” Okay. So when the mold smell gets worse what am I gonna be told? Use an air freshener? I was already inconvenienced when I couldn’t use my kitchen since they wouldn’t come out that night at 7:40 to fix it. The closet doors won’t close properly. It took a month before they put screens in and the bedroom screen was put in and bent. I had to clean up so many spider webs when moving in. It look like no body had cleaned the apartment in months. I can’t wait for my lease to be up. I guess I should’ve known that if it took that long with paperwork I shouldn’t have moved in. I do love the apartment layout but everything else sucks. Oh and they are always “improving” the building and taking up half the parking spaces. Also the hallways will stay filthy for a week or two before someone comes and cleans. I could go on and on.
First of all let me say these apartments are not anywhere you want to be. They are very unorganized and go against their word. only 1 elevator works because it keeps breaking you would think that means they would get a new elevator (guess not). The security Guard that works there doesnt respect anyone and takes his job way to seriously. He is disruptive and I have caught him staring and following younger people like he cant trust him. He needs to be fired if you would like a positive environment. 25 dollars if you get locked out of your apartment really? Its no ones fault the doors lock automatically. You guys are crook. Stop taking money from your tenants. Word spreads fast and you could lose your customers. I cannot wait until my lease is up.
Previous Tenant, moved out in May. I dont often post reviews but I felt like I needed to for this place. I moved in there with my boyfriend and at first everything was great but then overtime it all started to go downhill. Once of the elevators was down for 6 months or more, the other one went down one weekend too so we were out any elevators for a few days, people constantly forgot about clothing in the washers and left it to the point of it smelling, one of the washer caught fire, doors that were supposed to be fob accessible only were constantly left open or broken so that they would stay open or be locked shut all the time, maintenance was hit or miss, there was no security until the late evening so if you go locked out of your place in the day time good luck, and so much more. Not sure if any of these thing have been fixed since but good luck to all that are there still
This place has done a fair amount of updating but still needs alot of work. All of the elevators are awful and borderline on unsafe. If I didnt have three kids I would be using the stairs. They have updated the lobbies but thats about it. The fact that you cant control your heat is ridiculous. It gets horribly hot, even with the windows or screen door open. The price if rent is okay but fluctuates depending on when you sign your lease like an airplane ticket which is absurd. The amenities are nice. Overall an okay place to live but still needs a good amount of improvements.
Wish I could give zero stars. This will be the third and final year we rent here. Nearly Everything (oven, faucets, outlets, closet doors) has been broken for the entirety of our stay here and has yet to be fixed. Also our one and only elevator is now broken along with our mailroom door being locked without a sign saying such. Also the owners have raised rent by $200 🤔 wonder what thats paying for cause this place is a dump.
This is the most idiotic apartment complex I have ever lived in, and I lived in a place that the management was going to jail over tax evasion. My apartment has smelled like pot more than once and all they asked me was Which apartment is it coming from. The neighbors are rude, the management is rude, and kids run rampant even at 1 am on week nights. The other major issue I have is how NOTHING works in my apartment. Everything seemed fine for the first month or so, but then the oven doesnt heat up properly, the garbage disposal doesnt work, and our shower doesnt work properly or drain properly. We have asked for something to be done multiple times but nothing. They charge way too much for how small and unaccommodating the apartments are in general.
Owned by a new company that set the rent rates over the moon, especially for the quality of the apartments. They arent that special, and there are a lot of loud neighbors. Constant slamming of doors, and shouting in the halls and parking lots from less considerate inhabitants. The apartments are trying to be special by adding community features but all of the costs are coming out of the pockets of the renters. Not cool, I didnt ask for an on-site beautician or doctor or psychologist.
Ive been a resident of Chestnut Lake for almost a year. Rent is reasonable. Love the location, Staff is friendly and respond quickly (maintenance). Nice common area and pool. Overall a very good apartment complex. Excellent schools, feels safe. Its not perfect, but works. :)
Definitely not the nicest place in the area, but Ive seen worse. The elevators are rarely ever both working at the same time, and if you live on a higher floor, its impossible to control the temperature in your apartment. Be prepared to have your windows open during the winter. The water pipes are pretty loud, but you learn to tune it out. There are some very obnoxious neighbors, but I feel youll have that anywhere. If you just need something cheap and temporary, its fine. Personally havent had many issues - leaky faucet and a broken garbage disposal, both were fixed within a half hour of calling it in. I will not be renewing my lease after my second year, and I probably would never move back, but I dont regret moving here. Its convenient and affordable.
Overall I like this apartment complex. They do things for the residents that they do not have to do and allot of places do not do. They hold events for the residents several times a week. I have enjoyed all that I have gone to. The rent is reasonable and maintenance requests are filled in a timely manner. My only complaint is that the workout room that is attached to building one isnt open 24/7. I think if you pay extra for something it should be available whenever you can use it. If you work during the day or live in any other building that wouldnt matter.
I dont know what prompted some ex tenants to say horrible things about this place. I moved in Saturday June 9th.The girls in the leasing office, as well as the maintenance staff, have been nothing but helpful. I communicate what Im having issues with, and its addressed within 24 hrs, with a follow up email stating that my issues have been fixed. And the issues werent major, but still taken seriously. The neighbors on my floor, (5th floor) are friendly and quiet. The Only reason I gave 4 stars, and not 5, is because the building itself is old, and theres no trash chute and the garages are really nothing more than a carport with a door. No lighting, and I have to share. There are no single car garages. But Angel, Barb, and Mike the maintenance man, are all very friendly and accommodating and know their jobs well.Thank you
Dump. Staff is rude and treats customers like crap. Premium rent prices for grade A crap. Maintenance is non existent. You get locked out be prepared to sleep in the hallway untill the office opens and STILL have to wait hours before they let you in, in the mean time treating you like a criminal. Got a clogged drain oh well. Security sleeps in there junkie dodge caravan all night while cars get vandalized (not just mine!) all night. 3 in the morning some idiot will pull the fire alarm randomly. Elevators are rickety. Id feel safer driving drunk on the wrong side of the freeway. Ghetto trash I would expect living in the projects somehow lives here.
I’ve been staying here almost 6 months good and bad but I like the piece and quiet in my building. The last place I stayed in the people downstairs from me had a ball room size piano and he played it all the time while singing like he was performing for a concert. It was miserable and I complained but that did nothing seemed like he wanted to play more and more. I couldn’t wait to move out of there so I enjoy the piece and quiet. The building could use more maintenance like the other building when you first enter the development. It’s like night and day from my building.
Moved in last July, elevator that they promised would be fixed that summer still isnt fixed almost a year later so when new renters move in I have to take the stairs to the 4th floor. Everything breaks-closest doors come off the hinges, the blinds come out of the walls and the closet shelving in our bedroom is also coming out of the walls from poor renovations, also our heat doesnt work properly (thankfully living on the 4th floor where heat rises). Faulty fire alarm system when there was no fire and no need to have the whole building standing outside in the cold. Maintence and managment dont have good communication when maintence will come and fix your broken things (weve had to call 2 days in a row to get something simple fixed). The parking lots are creepy being dimly lit with people always creeping around, especially being a female at night I hate walking alone from my car to the front door. Not enough parking either for that matter. People smoke pot and cigarettes all night when I just want to enjoy my windows being open which sucks to smell when youre a nonsmoker household and they also hoot and holler till all hours. Kids running up and down the halls all night and doors slamming till the break of dawn. Car horns and ambulances are non stop noise around here. Ambulances and cops are here almost 24/7 (great reaction time though if you call). Washers and dryers are always being fixed or eat your money off your money card. Other then all that, great location to the mall, restaurants and you cant hear through the walls up, down or to the sides which is nice. But, we definitely cant wait till our lease is up to move ASAP!!
Ive been a resident of Chestnut Lake for almost a month! Its been great so far... Carla and Carol have both been a breath of fresh air. I had an issue setting up my active building account and Carla quickly had it resolved with the support of Lovelle from their IT support dept. Really appreciate the great Customer Service and support. Much more than just an apartment, I feel like I have a family supporting me as well. Keep up the great work, its really appreciated. Thanks so much, Steve.
This place claims the have me on video kicking there wall and are trying to extort $75 out of me. I went up there personally and saw the “picture” and looks nothing like me. Also stuff is always breaking and they never repair anything. The only thing they’re good at is placing blame on innocent people. Also water fees vary per tenant anywhere from 30-100 a month flat rate. Save your money and your sanity and go elsewhere. —— update. Since the “owner” responded saying someone would reach out... I haven’t heard anything and it’s been 3 days. Still hasn’t called.... liars and thieves is what this place boils down too!!!
This place is absolutely garbage. If you need a cheap place to live I suppose its OK at best. However, dont expect anything from the leasing office. They are unfriendly and will insult you to your face. The paint job in their reclaimed apartments is simply atrocious. Paint on the molding and sliding doors. They dont care about you or their property. AVOID!
Tenant above me constantly made an extreme amount of banging on the floor at all times of night, management did nothing and actually told me that it was the tenant below me causing the noise I heard coming from my ceiling 😂😂. I finally was ready to move out and was told I just needed to give a few weeks notice before I left since I was month to month. When it came time to leave at the end of the month I was then told by the leasing office that I needed to pay the whole next months rent because I didn’t give 30 days notice and that I shouldn’t have been told that. Management should at least honor their word, if a manager tells me something why wouldn’t I believe it to be true?! I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Please for the love of God, dont be fooled!Pros: Nice location, easy to highway and mall but without most of mall traffic.Cons: too many to count. Been here 5 yrs, seen mgmt company change hands. What they cannot change is the drug deals that go on in the dimly lit parking lots, smell of pot constantly on a nice night. oh did you know this part of strongsville is known as the ghetto part? Shady motels line Pearl rd, the ones where sex preditors live. Ive gotten the notices in the mail. I do not lie. My appt was renovated after a fire. They boasted new appliances, new carpet. when we moved in the carpet wasnt vacuumed, dirt everywhere. walls are thin and chips very easy. Im on the 6th floor, the elevators only 2 per bulding break down constantly and always reak of vomit or beer. maintenance staff either has no balls or think they have big gahoonas, but work is never done right or timely. hot water has gone out a few times in winter, it got warm, mildly and they told me that was fine. i know ive had a nice steamy shower before there! New mgmt has decided to up rent $30 and have us pay a flat fee for water. very upsetting since it was free when we moved in. But you get new carpets that look straight from 80s a full time health coordinator! Not impressive. Business office is unprofessional and quick to evict you. More trouble that its worth.
I’ve been living here since March and I just want to say this place really needs to work on some things. The building I live in smells DISGUSTING. The smell from the hallway comes into my apartment and makes me nauseous. The maintenance needs to step it up. Instead of doing the bare minimum and then blaming me or my fiancé for everything we call maintenance for when it has been not fixed or broken since we moved in, take responsibility and do your damn job. When we moved in, there was one closet out of the 4 we have that could be used. We finally called to have them come and fix the rest and the maintenance guy told me the work order was only made for one closet. It was made for all 3, not just one. So with that, he “fixed” the closet rod with a cheap flimsy rod and told me that it “cannot hold any weight.” Are you kidding me? Clothes weigh and decent amount of weight and a closet rod is SUPPOSED TO HOLD THAT WEIGHT. He was very rude and brought the buildings cleaning guy in too??? Why did that man have to come in? And he did so without telling me ahead of time. The work order was for between 1pm and 5pm. They showed up at 9:30am and when I told them I had to change, he asked very rudely if it was a bad time as he was trying to come into my apartment! Also, the fire alarm goes off ALL THE TIME. The first floor hallway always smells of marijuana and cigarettes and every single meal that has ever been made in that building. The trash around the buildings is nasty. The bug and spider problem on the first floor is absolutely ridiculous. Around the whole building and around every first floor window needs to be sprayed with bug spray. Not just the top corners of the apartment. What good is that going to do?! DO BETTER CHESTNUT LAKE APARTMENTS!
Maintenance absolutely DO NOT know how to do their jobs, parking is ALWAYS full, if you come home after 6pm, you most likely have to park by the next building, elevators seem to never be serviced, using a garage is expensive as they are not automatic and the keys and locks need to be replaced. They do construction work in the building, LOUD, OBNOXIOUS work, at any time of the day without any notice, so it can be 10 am and sounding like a jack hammer is going off right above you. Been there over 5 years, never once was our window screens fixed ( only wrong size and bent ones given to us instead), carpets never replaced, broken window glass never replaced after countless maintenance applications. Theyre cheap, they cant paint professionally at all, stairwells are hideous, door and frames are painted a horrible color and cheapish. I DO NOT recommend Chestnut Lake to anybody. Ever.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER SEEN, management is the literally like the devil themselves, very greedy woman, horrible person, and I am a minister of God saying this. I am telling you, STAY AWAY FROM THIS EVIL PLACE! We had one guest sleep over for one night and they tried to say she lived there, It was literally the craziest thing we ever endured. Management was mocking our religious belief system. We did not mind that thousands of Muslims live there, until they were spitting at us and threatening us. Also, it is very unsafe, security guy in building 3 does drugs and drinks while on the job, I mean that is unheard of.VERY UNSAFE PLACE. Some guy while we were living there shot a gun and held a women hostage and we were locked in for the whole day until it was resolved. IAM TELLING YOU GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, GO UP THE STREET TO PARK TOWERS OR ANYWHERE ELSE, ISLANDER, THE GREEN OFF 82 ANYWHERE BUT HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!Kids fight in the parking lot almost daily.Heavy drug use at the parks and pond.Teenage kids, like 40 of them meet at the weekends and hang out at the pond, starting fights, being totally disrepctful. I am scared for the children that have to live there, we left in 3 months it was so bad.Omg the manager, I can not believe how rude and unprofessional. My friends, go anywhere else, they are high way robbers on their prices as well, they charge $50 a month for water fees for a dinky apartment. I mean come on, its like 100 a year lol. The worst I have ever seen, even places on the East side are better! STAY AWAY!
This place is absolutely garbage. Ive been here 3 years and my rent has gone from 625 a month to 700. Maintenance is very horrible. Nothings clean out side. Everybodys cars are getting broken into. Security doesnt do there job. The apts arnt done right. When i moved in there was still unsanded mudding on the walls and holes. DO NOT MOVE HERE. IF YOU ARE SMART PLEASE LISTEN.
Human feces and urine in stairwell at all times. Lobby has gigantic cobwebs that have been here since I moved in.They do nothing to cool the building temperature which is 80+ degrees at all times which magnifies the rotten stench. Children dumped in the 80 degree hall while the parents get high or go to work all day. Just screaming their heads off and banging on doors for 8 hours. Janitor smoking all day and talking on the phone instead of cleaning. Maybe if people didnt use the hallway as a babysitter there wouldnt be feces and urine in the stairway. Elevator doesnt always work and if someone was stuck in there they die from being.so hot probably and the fans in there dont even work.
Great place to live in the last 7 years so far. Very nice people working for the company. They know us by name. Every time we go in the office they give our daughter a nice treat. I would tell everyone to move here. Maintenance is very good on coming quick and fixing the problems. Very happy here .
I lived on the 3rd floor and made over 6 calls to security in a two month period. I called concerning the extreme noise coming from the floor above me. I realize that in an apartment complex, you have noise. This noise was absurd. On more than one occasion, the noise knocked off a picture in my kitchen. In other instance, the loud thud caused the light in my dining area to go out and come back on. I was told after the 6th complaint that it wasnt coming from above but BELOW me. They made me feel as if I was lying. I was told and I quote, we cannot keep bothering this person. They went on to say that the person above me complained about the noise I was making!! I couldnt believe it. The apartments are poorly maintained and in my opinion, you are getting what you pay for. There is always trash everywhere and the building I lived in constantly smelled like weed. I would recommend looking anywhere else.
I was there for 2 years before I unfortunately had to move away (personal issues completely unrelated to Chestnut Lake).Maintenance crew was exceptionally friendly and willing to help where/when they could. The management staff was extremely nice and supportive. The price was perfect. It was close to work and easy access to EVERYTHING.I would give 6 stars if I could.
This place goes from re inviting me to re new my lease to trying to extort $75 off me to 1 week later saying I can’t re new my lease. Get your heads out of the sand and learn the correct way of doing business. Instead the staff is really stupid and the management and leasing office is reserved for the most ignorant and stupid people you’ll ever meet. Good luck dealing with slow people if you decide to stay here.
I would not recomend this place. At first the price was ok, but after a few years of living here i learned the elevators break down CONSTANTLY there is usually trash found on the grounds in elevators and stairways. The thing that pissed me off the most was after six months of living here i started getting sexually harrased by a VERY creepy Egyptian male in the fourth building. The management or leasing office failed to give me any warning. I also have understood from MANY and i mean MANY people that live here he has a LONG history of harassment and no management does NOT seem to care from what i understand. Just look somewhere else
The staff are actually really rude especially the security guard. I go to the gym and the security office is right there and he makes me and my brother feel so unwelcome like he wants us out of there. If I were you trust me you can find a better apartment with better staff at the same price somewhere else.
Id been referred by a relative and a former tenant who rented here when it was under a different management company. Im coming from living in Los Angeles for 6 years with television and movie actors. I have friends and family in the area. I came down to invest in real estate. Im a disabled veteran with a 740+ credit score with Experian, and excellent credit across all three credit bureaus. My income exceeds $3000 a month and I have more than sufficient savings.I tried to apply for a unit before July when the Republican Convention comes to town as all temporary lodging is booked solid. The office manager refused to accept my application to process until me and my doctor from Los Angeles filled out an accommodations request for my service dogs. Which we did.I was told it would take them a week to process my application. Theyve yet to respond to my inquiries and have never run my application, because they havent accepted it.They had a random employee call to tell me my accommodation request was sent to their legal department. Id think theyd already have a policy or procedure in place for renting to service animals. Its become obivicious they are discriminating against me, because of my dogs and are stalling so they dont have to rent to me.I intend to follow up with a complaint with the Civil Rights Commision.
Chestnut Lake has such a kind, loving staff, caring maintenance and is genuinely a great community to live in. Any time there has been an issue it has been addressed in a timely, efficient manner. We love living here and participating in all the community events and activities.
I wish you could do less than one star. This place is the absolute worst. Constant power outages, no hot water, incredibly rude staff, and your neighbors do lovely things like pee and defecate in the stairs and (broken) elevators. I am moving the second my lease is up. DO NOT MOVE IN!!!
This place consitantly accuses its tenants of wrongful things. They never salt the side walks or the parking lots so there’s always black ice everywhere. Also there was a hostage situation a while back in which they lied to the media stating that the building was safely evacuated in which there where about 200 tenants that were forced back inside like cattle until the gunman was takin down. Save your time and don’t let these crooks take you money.
I had a appointment the lady schedule me and then when I was getting ready to come to see the apartment they said I didnt have no appointment. Im glad I wasnt there yet when they told me. These people are just full of games and besides they dont take section 8 vouchers. Im done with this place period I dont have time for the games. Dont move here look else where dont even waste your time with these people they just give u the run around.
The location is perfect!!! Its in between OH-81 Turnpike and the 71 exit/entrance ramps. Its walking distance from Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Sheetz and the Metro Parks. The apartment has a decent pool (open in the summertime), basketball court and 24 hour gym. The rent is cheap. Its affordable, and so attracts lower to middle lower incomes. So its affordable housing for lower/middle income. Not for snobs, rich people or snitches.
Staff is rude, security sleeps at night, maintenance does not know how to do there job. the new management is very strict and heartless. when i lived there i have seen 100 drug deals, 2 shootings, cops are there almost ever day. the leasing office staff are complete A$$***** .
I thought this was supposed to be a family place not a place where people OD on heroin all the time and are falling over drunk and smoking marijuana and meth in the halls! Staff included. Janitors getting drunk and smoking cigarettes all day instead of cleaning up the prolific amount of urine and feces in the stairwell. No cameras in the stairwell or mailroom??!! Theres already a package thief. People put their kids in the hall for hours to run laps, scream, bang on doors, and set off the fire alarm and nothing is done about it. Maybe someone should look at the cameras and get these riff raffs out of here. Maybe it would be worth the insane price increase it it were actually clean and safe to live.Im sorry you cant do your job properly. The location in Strongsville is trifling.
Three words for everyone. Soliciting, false accusations, and extortion. Thats what chestnut lake and it’s puppetmaster Joyce from “corporate” thrive on. Management sucks here and constantly is changing hands. Joyce doesn’t give two clicks about anyone just filling her pocket and constantly interrupting you by saying your name over and over again until she can speak out the side of her neck about nonsense. All of the workers here are shady af and are loud. Move elsewhere and cancel your lease while you still can.
Really nice apartments. They have a nice party center, pool, and workout area. It is located in a pretty quiet area with a great view of a lake. It is also in real close vicinity of the cleveland metroparks. Its even in walking distance of walmart and many other shopping areas.
STAY AWAY! This is by far the worst apartment myself and roommates have experienced. BEDBUGS. Management team will go to great lengths to take tenants money via shady charges and unannounced changes to policy, as well as attempting to deny responsibility for the units having bedbugs. Apes running wild throughout the complex at all hours. Trash in stairwells and hallways. Mold present.
I hate living I this place. Do not rent here. Freaking ghetto of Strongsville. Rude people, trash all over, the office staff is a joke. Will not renew lease. Oh and another tenant pointed a gun at my 8 YEAR OLD CHILD!!!!!!!!! Thats right I said pointed a gun at my child.
Loved the staff , everything was amazing , angel and tammy and jason were on top of their game they were the best , this place have the best staff ive ever encountered in my apartment hunt . unfortunatly i wasnt able to rent due to the fact its far from work and some family matter too .
Definitely trashy residents, loud kids in the hall, obnoxious teenagers, etc. But management is friendly and fast, and the apartments are ok for the money. There are a lot of complaints about this place but the truth is you wont find anything better for what youre paying.
Worst place Ive ever lived .... People let their kids run free thru the hallway like its a jungle gym ... Constant work being done but nothing ever gets completed the right way , very loud maintenance being done very early , new management sucks , stairwells smell like urine and sweaty socks , cleaning ladies dont do anything , and pray you dont get a apartment facing the parking lot so you dont have to listen to the kids scream and yell for hour waiting for a bus to school before you have to wake up for work , not enough parking , very loud water pipes I can hear a bunch of other peoples shower for turn on and off at all hours ... Id give this place a 0 out of 10 FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO LIVE
This place is very disgusting there are bed bugs in my apartment I told my leasing office that I have bed bugs they did that heat treatment for the Exterminator so my husband and kids went to a hotel for one day came back home theres more bed bugs everywhere told the leasing office assistant manager and a lady named Jennifer did not believe that there was still bed bugs in this home told my husband to catch it and put it in a container we told them that we need to leave as soon as possible our kids are getting attacked by it they are not helping they are very rude so now we have to take this to court which means they will be getting a letter from the court we did not pay our rent we are waiting to be evicted to leave if you guys have any advice about the situation please let me know

2022-03-26If I had the option to choose 0 stars, I would.Moving into this place I was so excited! The management teams seemed nice and the apartments also looked nice! However, DO NOT LIVE HERE!They charge you way more than what you should be paying. The individual apartment rooms themselves are cheap! Broken closet doors that were never fixed, broken light switches! Not only that but when I had a lady bug infestation, they told me that it wasn’t their problem. The management needs to be either trained with customer service, or they need to be replaced. I felt like I was in a constant battle with the management office. They don’t care about you, they only care about money, and it shows in several ways.

2022-02-05Lived here for 2 years, not renewing my lease another year, only reason I stayed so long was because of the virus and less hours. They won’t work with you at all on rent, even durning the pandemic. They won’t fix my shower, building 4 heat is always out, Vanessa and Jessica would rather sit in the office and complain to each other and stuff there faces with food than help. Also Steve the maintenance man will tell you he was told by the office staff to fix it cheaply so they don’t lose out on money.. paying $845 for a 2. Bedroom with mold on the shower, heating always out, never plowed and when it is plowed gotta risk the chance of being hit by the dude in the red truck because he won’t watch what he is doing and just drives and doesn’t care for the stop signs.

2022-06-07Zero ⭐️I helped my daughter move in and we were excited at first. I was surprised at how old the heat registers were and how they weren’t “put together”. I was afraid of a fire. The bathrooms were disgusting. Light fixtures loose, screen and closet doors never repaired after move in . Money hungry is two words to describe this management. My daughter was not even 24 hours late of getting the rent to them and they charged her for eviction court ($500) late fees. They don’t work with you at all. Even though the rent was paid that next day, they said they will not renew the lease. They won’t clean the apartment. When you move out, they ask if you want to pay someone to deep clean the apartment or if you will deep clean before you leave. They also tell you to set up an appt for a walk through prior to leaving, but they go whenever they want and don’t tell you. A walk through was never done with the tenant. Turn keys in and Buh-bye. Two bedroom $950. Piece of……..

2021-12-30If I could pick 0 stars I most definitely would! Don’t move here! They’re a money hungry place who could care less about their tenants. They over charge on rent just to not take care of the grounds or keep up on maintenance. Trash bags are left laying in the parking lot for weeks sometimes even months. The halls are left dirty. They have contractors do shady work incorrectly and don’t even finish it.I’ve lived here for 7 years and have watched this place go down the drain. If I could go back in time I would’ve stayed where I was and never came here!

2022-06-22DO NOT LIVE AT CHESTNUT LAKE. I would give them zero stars if I had the option. The business office is unhelpful, rude, and knows how to scam their residents of all of their money. There is always garbage everywhere and it feels like you are living in a dump. I absolutely hated my experience.

2022-06-05If you want to to pay over $1000 to live in the gh3tt0 and be treated like garbage this is the place for you. So much criminal activity its worse than my place in Cleveland. Brookfield management company does nothing to fix anything, just says to call the police. The cameras are for show, trust me. Rent raised $100 - $250 every year.

2022-04-15It was Affordable for some of the 18 Years that my Family and I lived there, but now that we have moved on to Greener Pastures, you realize Chestnut is a $hit Show! People in Office are Rude, Dont Care, and Dont Help! Carla was a Nice Manager, but her Employees are Not! Cheap Materials and Cheap Work! Maintenance does not live on Property, so if you have an Emergency, it wont be Quick! Turn Around and Dont Look Back!

2022-06-07My rent has been raised to an amount that takes nearly all of my monthly income. $133 raise this year, that is ridiculous. Im in the negative after rent and bills. Why have I been paying $10 less than people with a 2 BR? An identical apartment. As a disabled person this is very upsetting for me. I have lived here for 7 years and this used to be a great place to live.

2018-11-12Great location, within five minutes of Pearl Road entrance / exit I-71; 20 minutes to downtown (with no traffic). Staff (including maintenance) is very helpful and friendly. Nice common area and pool. Rent is reasonable. Only negative is that some residents are not respectful about keeping the property as clean as possible. Overall a very good apartment complex.

2019-07-01Ive only been here 3 months and Ive been wanting to move since the first day. The night that I moved in, my unit was filthy (as if no one bothered to truly clean it): light switches were grimey, floors had dust and glue all over them, toilet and cabinet were rusty and stained, patio door cloudy, ect. I moved from another state, so after a long drive, I was expecting to come into a fresh apartment, WRONG! The next day I debated on if I should even unpack my U-Haul, but I was assured these things would be taken care of, so I reluctantly moved in....bad idea. Oh, it was also extremely hot because the heat stayed on full blast even though my thermostat was turned off. The maintenance man is very sloppy with his work, doesnt fix things right the first time nor does he clean up after his work. Within the first 2 weeks, I had to place nearly 10 work orders to have things fixed, smh, ridiculous. My unit smells very odd (I dont know what the smell is, but its not good and I cant get rid of it). I saw another review mentioning something about the air quality here, I will definitely have to look further into this, I knew I wasnt going crazy, it smells. Im beyond fed up with living here. My apartment also reeks of cigarette smoke, making it hard to breathe in my own space. Ive tried everything and even bought an air purifier, nothing helps. The air is toxic. Carla has reached out to me and tried to address my concerns, which I truly appreciate, but this air quality is something that I dont know how much more I can take. I dont even like being in my own place for long periods of time because I feel like I shouldnt be breathing in these smells.
