I had been searching for a a Catholic church that truly understood the simple teachings of Christ- love one another, charity to each other, and acceptance for everyone. The Newman Center Catholic Church at Ohio State ( run by the Paulist Priests) was the ONLY church we had found in the Columbus area that lived and taught these three most important Christian precepts every single week . Today I found out that the Bishop of Columbus fired the Priests and entire staff with a 30 day notice after 66 years of service. This ultra conservative swing of the American Bishops is in direct conflict to the direction that the Pope is encouraging the Church to evolve into. This action is the last straw for myself and my six adult children and their families. The scandals the Church have been horrible but this direction the Diocese of Columbus is taking is divergent of Christ’s most basic teachings.

Nice staff and they will help you if they can. Or direct you in the right direction

The people working here were nice and reasonable. Very different than my, perhaps dated, perceptions of Catholics. I would recommend friends who would like to learn more about Christian God and Catholicism to make an appointment.

I have never before had a reason to visit the Catholic Diocese of Columbus; however, I recently [1-15-2019] attended a commemoration of Martin Luther Kings 90th birthday, on an extremely cold morning, several blocks away from the Diocese office, at the Washington Gladden Social Justice Park [that had opened 10-28-2018 near First Congregational Church at 444 E. Broad St.].It was announced at the end of the absolutely-freezing-cold commemoration of Martin Luther Kings 90th birthday that the Catholic Diocese of Columbus had invited all of us to a free meal immediately afterwards. My plan had been to rush immediately to the Columbus Metropolitan Library [several blocks to the south] to warm up before taking the bus home so it had been great to have a warm place to go -- immediately after the commemoration -- that had included food and also an opportunity for conversation. The Diocese building had been heated; the Diocese staff had been welcoming; the food had been great; the extended period of sharing among those who had participated in the recent commemoration of Martin Luther Kings 90th birthday [many of whom have been community leaders for decades] had been extremely rich.

This diocese stresses conformity and uniformity. Pastoral direction often plays off these. Like most US dioceses, contemplative spirituality is often forgotten. Vatican II authentic renewal sadly lacking.

The Diocese provides many valuable resources to the community. From education, outreach, help for the poor, you can find it all here.

The seat of the Roman Catholic Church in the Columbus Diocese. Avid supporter of the community and most importantly, the Catholic Church.
