Food was good and plentiful. Salsa was on the lower end of the scale. Seen a few things from the kitchen staff that was questionable, mostly preparing and handling the food without gloves after cleaning tables off. Beer and liquor selection are limited. Server was very friendly and fun.
Im an out of towner that read the reviews but decided to try them anyhow since it was the last Mexican restaurant I hadnt tried in the area (travel here once a month for work). I tend to agree with more of the 1 or 2 star reviews posted for this establishment. It was extremely expensive compared to other Mexican restaurants I frequent. When mild salsa is closer to ketchup, thats a turnoff. I asked for the hot salsa and when I mixed the two together, that was more like what I expect. Chips for the salsa seemed very close to something you would buy in a store. I got the #1 (2 tacos, 2 enchiladas, rice, beans). Was expecting crunchy taco shells but basically got a soft corn tortilla that was warm with ground beef, lettuce, yellow cheese, and big tomato slices. Made for a sloppy experience. The enchiladas were in a sea of enchilada sauce topped with yellow cheese (I hate yellow cheese at an authentic restuarant). Beans and rice were very small portions. They should cut back on the sauce and replace it with more rice and beans. When I left town, I happened to go by the other Mexican restaurant I went to last time I was there, which happened to be a few minutes away, and wished I had just gone back there instead.
This place is good in their own right. They are mostly known in my opinion for their enchiladas. Their food is not really like typical Mexican restaurants. This is a good and bad thing depending on what you order. I have had some waitresses who are down right rude and nasty before, but I have also had some that were pleasant and cared. They also do some really strange things like close super early on some days. I understand not being open past say 10pm, but closing at 7:45 - 8:00pm (depending on how bad the people working want to go home) ?? That is just very inconvenient for many people including myself who sometimes work late hours and therefore eat a late supper. But at the end of the day, it is the owners decision when they close, and I suppose they like their free nights better than having some extra business/profits..
Walking into Casa Rodriguez, you quickly notice water stained ceiling tiles, cheap decor, and a conspicuous absence of Hispanic workers. However, if you expect the menu prices to be in line with the atmosphere, you will be sadly dissappointed. Every dinner option is over $10. While you weigh your less than appealing options, youll find yourself eating the poorest tasting chips and salsa you have ever encountered. The meal itself was okay. Not bad, but certainly not worth its price. The only semblance of satisfaction youll be left with is the fact that youll never have to experience it again.
1 is generous as place is dirty not to mention worn out. Watching the chips put in baskets by ungloved all around the restaurant hands is pure YUCK. Shouldda walked out when got dirty menus but decided to give a try. Food is mediocre. Beans with velvita style cheese shredded in it. Taco salad NO SHELL-WHA???? GREEN OLIVES NOT BLACK? Crazy. Nearly $20 for food hardly worth. eating. Sad bc waitress is nice. Not coming back. KFC across the street looks GREAT nxt time were in town. Dont bother if you love MEX FOOD..
Hated everything execpt are waitress first of all walk in not a typical mexican restaurant sat down and was givin a bowl that look like it was chewed on by a hamster full of 🍅tomatoes past. Very gross with a side of store bought chips that tasted stale then we ordered cheese dip and steak fajita. Our cheese dip was like garlic sauce which was not appealing at all are steak was like gyro meat cut tastes like warmed up cat to top it off a white woman cant. Cook authentic mexican and it was a whopping 42 dollars that it took me almost 5 hours to make i will never eat here again

2021-07-05Waitresses and staff are friendly and service is great! Variety of beer. The food is great! Everything is homemade from scratch and from recipes that are handed down. Family owned and operated for over 40 years. Dine in or take out. They even have a patio to sit and have your meal on sunny days.

2021-09-102 stars is for the service, they were very friendly but the food was nothing special, i make better Mexican at home. The mild salsa was basically ketchup, the cheese sauce was watery and tasted like a cheap velveeta, the meat had almost no flavor, the rice and beans had no flvor also. There was no a single Mexican in the place so i dont think they have any clue how to make Mexican food. I have to gree with the low star reviews, we wont be going back.

2021-06-12Sorry no photos... the beef taco had zero seasoning. It was was just ground beef 😒🙄. But the beef enchiladas deep fried yeah Id say score even though it had no seasoning. Salsa was on the blah side. Service was lacking luster and this is not your traditional Mexican restaurant it looks like it but its not

2019-04-21This is a great Mexican restaurant. We have turned all of our friends into fans of it, too. We moved about 90 minutes away and will do road trips just to eat there! The salsa is amazing! Get the hot if you can - or mix the hot with the mild because thats delicious, too. Their enchiladas are fantastic and I always add the beans and rice. The staff is friendly and fast and the prices are reasonable. This place is hard to beat.
