Wow! So happy to have this amazing place so close! Very generous portions but that doesnt take away from quality. Delicious margs & so many veg options! The vegan pineapple is a new favorite & an instant Toledo classic in my opinion. Terrific presentation & even better flavor! Easily one of my top 5 meals ever. Again.. Wow!The 2nd pic is the vegan enchilladas. Delicious and a great option for a smaller meal! Will definitely order again in the future!
Great food, very fast service even on a Saturday night, some interesting Cuban inspired menu items. Would definitely go back again. Using the street for outside seating right now which is great, we sat inside but inside is spacious enough as well. Only issue is that they could have done better crowd control with the group of like 20 people that were partying lined up at the bar for shots.
This place was excellent, it was so wonderful to sit outside in the street. I wish we could always sit outside on the “patio“ the staff was very very nice and had some great recommendations for food. We started off with some sangria and a chorizo dip which was incredibly addicting I could’ve probably just eaten that. My server recommended the Vaca Frita or fried cow which sounds like a really crazy thing to order and I probably would have never done it on my own but it was one of the Best dishes I think I’ve ever had at any restaurant. It was almost as if pot roast had been put through the air fryer and made into fajitas that’s probably the best way to explain it but it was incredible. I didn’t read the menu going off of just what the waiter had recommended so I didn’t know exactly what my starch was. Especially since it looked like a potato but it definitely didn’t look like a potato and it had a pink topping. So the topping was really good on it it was like pickled onions and lime juice which I absolutely love. Of course the rice and beans are really good too. I have been thinking about coming back here since our visit the other day and it probably told no less than five people about my fried cow LOL
Stopped here on the way South and was not disappointed. The reviews were true. Excellent service and the waitress was knowledgeable about the menu. We asked for her favorites and she offered some great suggestions. Everything we ordered was excellent. The place is spotless (bathrooms too). Very reasonably priced We would drive from Detroit for a meal here again. Well worth a stop and not too far from 75. Stop at the shops next door too!
The environment and setting were different and good. But the food was not enjoyable, it was plain, felt dry and just okay. Only things that were good, was that the refried beans were great and also the setup is good with television and bar right in the vicinity. Rest all was as mentioned earlier simply okay. It’s a good place for gathering and meetings. And also for people who like to drink ! (Response to owner : Vegan Enchiladas)Quality of food : 6.5Taste and essence : 6.5Presentation : 7Hospitality & Environment : 7Price- value : 8Red’s Final Rating : 7/10
Larger sized, authentic looking Mexican located In the heart of Toledo. The food was very delicious and the menu offered a great selection of All the best Mexican combinations. This rating wouldve been a 4 star had the meal not taken 55 minutes to receive. It was busy but with a place this busy on a Saturday night they shouldnt need that long to prepare a meal. Other then then that I was pleased. If you see a crowd maybe find another place unless youre prepared to wait a bit for a good meal. Myself unfortunately an hour is too long. Bon appetit!
Very good, but just short of the best. I had a variety of food and a marg. My friends had some good local beer and I had the Golden Margarita (step below top shelf). It was good, but was hoping for just a little more zing. The street tacos are excellent. The California Nachos (basically french fries with nacho fixins) are a hit. The Cuban sandwich is high quality. The atmosphere is good. Mostly an adult crowd on a weekday.
Fun Mexican Cuban restaurant with a creative vibe. Live music on a Saturday night and two separate rooms gives it a nightclub appeal. The food is fantastic, the group loved the creamy jalapeno dip and our grilled skirt steak dinners. It was a little bit of a drive to get here, but we will be back.
My first time eating here. Didnt wait long at all for a table, and staff was very friendly and attentive. I didnt really know they had such a large menu of Cuban dishes, so I went with the Vaca Frita. I really enjoyed my dish, nothing was too strong or overwhelming. My only complaint was that the salsa they gave us at the beginning were in little plastic cups stored in a refrigerator or freezer, so the salsa was unbearably cold and hurt my teeth trying to eat it with the chips. Also tasted a little off. But other than that, it was a great visit.
Delicious and authentic food. First time coming here. However it’s usually very busy, and when we were there, it was super warm inside of the building. Additionally, I ordered the tacos de carne asada and the shells were super soggy and the carne was super dry, like it had been sitting there a while. The onions and cilantro on the tacos were not that fresh either.
Wow! A friend and I had dinner here while in town for the Ben Folds show at the Toledo Symphony, and we were both super impressed by the food and drinks, as well as the attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. My vegetarian friend was thrilled with the number of vegan options available on the menu. She chose the vegan pineapple tacos, while I went with the family favorite Caliente Burrito stuffed with grilled steak. We loved our meals and the complimentary chips and salsa, as well as the guacamole and queso blanco dips. The Patrone margaritas were delicious, too! I wouldnt hesitate to visit here again the next time Im in Toledo. A message for the manager and staff: Thank you so much for making our visit especially memorable!
We usually eat at Carloss other restaurant but we happened to be downtown and decided to try Poco Loco for lunch. First appearance the restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated. The lunch menu was really confusing so I just had a Taco combo. It came with ONE taco, a tablespoon of sour cream and guacamole, rice, shredded lettuce and a mass of refried beans for a total a $5 and change. For that price 2 tacos would have been better. So I order an extra taco for a $1.90. The waitress didnt know what gluten free was even thought the menu has several GF items marked on it. My husband had a Cuban style sandwich with fried plantains which he liked. The bathrooms were clean. All in all we will eat at the other restaurant.
A great place for a casual business lunch!I was here a while back to celebrate a project management victory with my team!I loved the laid-back atmosphere! We arrived early and talked shop over a cup of coffee before devouring super-fresh foods! The service was excellent and the Flan was to die for. Whats better than a Cuban buffet?!
We went there for a birthday party. We didnt eat there but we met the group there for a Pickleback shot. The waiter was a bit confusing by bringing out the pickle juice first. We asked about the Jamison and he said we hurt his feelings. Confused by that we said it was ok. He then told us to order them at the bar ourselves. The total was $75.00 for 9 shots. I thought it was outrageous but it was our friends birthday. We watched him then try to put queso and guac on multiple different bills, when people we were with commented that they didnt order that he said he would do them a favor and take it off the bill. Wait. What? They didnt order it!! This was done to the 4 out of 7 couples that were there. When we walked out the one hostess, dark hair, tall, pretty said have a nice night. I said, thank you, you also. My husband then said the same thing. The shorter blonde said in a very sarcastic tone, oh no you have a realllyyy good night! I looked back at her with a smile and said oh my God and laughed because she was obviously hitting on my husband., which is fine, hes hot!! After walking out, I looked back and both hostesses were staring at me with disgusted looks on their faces and I asked, did I do something wrong? They both laughed at me and then looked me up and down and exchanged words between the two of them. I asked again if I did something wrong and they both turned their backs on me. I told my husband and he was kind enough to call and talk the manager. He mentioned how rude they were when I did nothing to provoke them to act that way. The managers response was, they are little girls. I then chimed in and said that is your excuse, that they are little girls!? This is how you run an establishment!? He actually hung up on us!! So, my husband being the protective man he is, went inside to let the manager know how inappropriate he handled the situation and how unprofessional the entire matter was. We. Will. Not. Ever. Go. Back.
My husband loves their fish tacos-- he says theyre the best hes ever had. Last time I went I didnt care for my meal. This time was better. So far Im the only one thats not completely dazzled. The weight service was okay but I had to kind of throw him a nod to come get him to come over to get more water and since I only drink water, like I really like to be offered a refill. Its expensive food. Great atmosphere. If youre looking to impress a date or take out a time friends to Fun Spot this is a good place.
Very wonderful cuisine! Had the pork carnitas and they were amazing. I even liked the rice. I never like rice from Mexican restaurants. So good! Service was really great too. Will most definitely be back!!!We went back... So good! This time I tried the Hawaii streak fajitas. I think that is what they were called. Omg... Grilled pineapple, bacon, streak, cheese....what more can you ask for. Was very busy (did go on a Saturday). Sat at the bar, and although she was busy, the bartender Daniel was so helpful and polite. Can wait to have my husband try this place.
Used to love this place. Now just disappointed. Ordered today for. Grubhub delivery. Got a coke, shrimp quesadilla, 2 tacos, and a side of chips and guac. Coke was not included in my order, but I paid for it. Paid extra for a side of sour cream that I didnt get. Specifically got chips and guac, but got chips and salsa. Paid extra for avocado on my quesadilla, and specifically requested lettuce, tomato, etc(per the clicky box selections) and ended up with ONLY shrimp and cheese in my quesadilla. Tacos were bland and boring (with just meat and cheese as well, no lettuce or anything else) Just disappointing, usually such good local food. :(
Will not be back even if you paid me to. It was our first time in Toledo for a concert and we stopped here for lunch. Food was fine, but service was 0 stars. It started off good, but then went downhill. After apps, the server went missing for exactly 20 minutes, another server was taking care of her section but we thought our table was not his section. He took care of the bar, of the booth near the window and the booth behind us. We had to stop him after 20 minutes after no refills or service and we said to him nicely, We havent seen our server in 20 minutes. He replied, She has a big party in the back. Do you want your check? I walked back to the back room on the way to the bathroom, the large party was 6 people (4 adults and 2 children) at the time we were waiting. My brother wanted to leave, but we never ordered dinner, so I ordered 1 dinner to share and we left. We only left a tip b/c of fear of God and livelihood for the waitress. Otherwise, you deserved a lesson in hospitality. 0 stars, thats not how you do business. Youre a shame to the service industry.
Food is decent but service was terrible. Asked for dishes with things on the side and was told that isn’t possible everything is premade. Then the server placed my wife’s order with the drink order because I needed a few minutes. Wife’s food came out with the appetizer. My main coarse came 30 minutes later.
We went there yesterday with my husband for a friends birthday. The food was delicious!! The staff was very accommodating with anything and everything that we needed and they were all very nice and friendly. Will definitely visit again next time . Thank you allI’ve had “quesadilla loco “ with ropa vieja
Their pina colada was really good, all of the food was decent, was pretty busy when we were there, very loud if you sit where the band plays in front room where bar area is. Alot of homeless men out front begging for money so I gave him my leftovers. If you park in the small lot next to the building, make sure you pay at the kiosk, they hand parking tickets out like candy. Just about every car had a parking ticket under their wipers.
1st time eating here and I would have given 5 stars but our server was slow and not very attentive. And our order kept coming out wrong. It would help if she wrote stuff down instead of trying to remember multiple orders. Otherwise the food was really good, Nice atmosphere.
Really great food, service and the atmosphere was a pleasant surprise with a musician singing. He really had a nice voice and I enjoyed it immensely. Treat yourself and check it out. Oh, I had the steak fajitas, yum! My friend had a 3 taco combination plate and ate it all
CLEAN PLACE UP TO STANDARDS IN LOBBY EATERY AREA AND OUTSIDE AS WELL IS AVAILABLE AND CLEAN.I love this place for all walks of life. Its small never really crowded and is a personal food place. I went today and the service and food was amazing i also got a sangria is recommend if driving to spilt. Perfect buzz without impairment. It is LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY SAVE seen a wonderful bartender there working from same community. FAMILY SAVE. NON AUTOMATIC DOORS AND HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING 2.00 UNLESS U PARK ON MAIN STREET. MAKE SURE YOU LOCK YOUR CAR THOUGH. There are many rehabs around. And honestly coming from knowing myself things happen be safer then sorry folks.
Food came out cold for my girlfriend and myself. I asked if they could heat it up a bit. They so called remade the food which I didnt ask to do but it still came out the same lol, I ended up eating mine but my girlfriends tacos and rice wasnt even warm. I then asked the waitress if she could take my girlfriends off the bill because it was definitely below standard and still cold. The waitress comes back and says the manager took hers off the bill. That same bill had an upcharge of a 15 dollar burrito that was suppose to be on special for 9 dollars during that time. So the management are liars and thieves and the food wasnt great either. The waitress was good tho 👍 my girlfriends whole office comes here quite often for lunch and guess what?!? Theyll no longer be coming to this business to thi
My family and I are vegan and were looking for place along our road trip to eat. We came across this restaurant and couldn’t have been more happy with the outcome. The service was wonderful and they have a whole vegan section of the menu. The food itself was TO DIE for. I had the Vegan Pineapple, and my whole crew chose that as the favorite dish, but everything we had was delicious. Would recommend to any vegan in town.
This is my favorite restaurant in Toledo! I am vegan, and the vegan options are extensive (even though I always get the vegan taco salad, extra nopales). We got take out and it was fantastic. The only complaint I have is that the shell of the salad was soggy by the time we got home and ate it, so if I get it take out again I would ask for it to be on the side. Cant wait to be able to dine in on the patio, miss you all, keep making great food and stay safe!!
This is hard to find..I mean great cuban food. I lived in Tampa for 37 years so Ive had the best authentic cuban food all my life. One thing tho.they need REAL cuban bread. Its not....As a baker for 45 years I know real cuban bread. Ive made it all my life. Still, the menu is authentic. If you want great cuban food go there.
Amazing. Never dissatisfied. I love that they have a great vegetarian and vegan menu. My wife loves the meat dishes. Amazing and strong Margaritas. Amazing and affordable lunch buffet during the week. This is our favorite restaurant. Definitely the best Mexican in town.
Our table was reserved and waiting for us. We were allowed to decorate with balloons ahead of time and to bring our own cake. Dinner was handled perfectly. We were all served our dishes together with no mix ups and no delays. Everything we had was delicious. Servers were all excellent.
We had such a good time out with friends last month when we visited and they have such amazing food. The tacos and margaritas were a hit with everyone that night and for those who didnt eat a full meal the chips and salsa didnt disappoint. We went over later in the evening and there wasnt much of a crowd and this is always nice in my opinion. The wait staff was friendly and helpful and there atmosphere was what we expected, overall it was a great time, reasonably priced and well worth a visit. We have already made time in our schedules to go again this month and I will be sure to add pictures then.If you stop over you wont be disappointed.
We absolutely love Carlos Poco Loco! Not only is their food amazing, but their customer service is impeccable. Having received the wrong order through a delivery service, Carlos Poco Loco quickly made it right not only giving us the correct order, but also sending us a gift card because of the inconvenience. I cannot recommend this place enough! Delicious Mexican food, delicious (and strong!) margaritas, and great people!
Im not one to complain and far from a food critic. I originally from Florida where Mexican and Cuban food is in abundance. I am Hispanic and I love my foods. I made a reservation on 3/20 table was ready and water was waiting which is a plus. We order drinks and waitress was polite. She returns and ask if we was ready to order i ask we dont have menus she advised that we needed to scan the barcode 1st negative how was I suppose to know that what if I didnt have a phone. Then it took forever to open and b4 you say anything yes i have a android and iphone so signal bad if you want us to us wifi you should provide us with signal. I order kids meals and then our food. Our food comes 1st 5 minutes later I ask where are kids meals she advised let me go check. Another 5 mintes later she comes with 1 meal smh I asvised her I have 3 kids why would I order 1 meal so I have to wait again. By the time my meals was complete my adult meals were cold. Icing on cake why are you inputting tip amount. That should be my decision to make not yours. Not a happy customer.
The vegan options are by far the best in town! So many to choose from and flavorful! The Cuban style meats are delicious as well, making this spot a frequent go to in mixed company! Definitely one of the best ethnic place in town far as being able to please everyone in the group!
I love this place. The vegan street tacos they make are amazing. Usually I get that or the shrimp and both are delicious. The drinks are moderately priced but the happy hour is good and the drinks taste great. Also, everytime I go in I get great service. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
I stopped in for lunch with a coworker and it was busy, which was a great thing to see! Ive heard positive reviews from some of my friends so I was excited to try it out. I really like the decor and was pleasantly surprised that there was a bigger space beyond the bar. The windows bring in great light! They offer a buffet at lunch but Im not a fan of those. We both ordered tacos, pork carnitas on a soft tortilla for me. They come with a side of rice and beans, and chips/salsa for the table. The carnitas were excellent and it was a perfect lunch portion. Service was fast and polite, which is important during work hours. We parked in the lot next to the building but not sure if we were allowed to? I will definitely return and would like to bring my family for dinner.
The food was great! The service however, was TERRIBLE! Angel worked harder on trying to flirt and flatter and joke with all the women in our group instead of listening to what we ordered and requested. When he wasnt forgetting the refills we asked for, he was bringing the wrong drinks. When someone at our table asked for salsa, he charged her for it, however he didnt bring her chips to go along with the $1.50 chips and salsa charge he added to her bill. Once he knew that we were all unsatisfied with his less than mediocre service, he decided to add automatic gratuity to our group of SIX! This is the second time Ive eaten here and both times Ive had bad service. Had Angel done his job, paid attention to his customers, and not added the gratuity, he could have walked away with more money and you would be getting a repeat customer. Due to his lack of customer service, you have lost two customers. This would have been a 5 star review and you would get continued business from me and my family.
I ordered delivery and live about 5 min away. All the food was cold. And Im not exaggerating. I could have handled it being luke warm... the portion sizes are misleading if you are expecting what you see people have posted photos of online. The horchata was warm, and you do not get a whole lot of food for the money. I know restaurants are struggling during the COVID19 pandemic and I am usually very understanding. But being a food service worker myself I cant justify sending cold food to a customer. Maybe once we can resume life as normal I will give this place another shot.
A MESS!! I like to try things for myself and not base my decision off of someone else, so i tried this restaurant for the FIRST TIME, my coworkers and friends warned me I should of just listened this time. If you like flavorful food then this is not the place. How does a salad taste awful?? Right the veggies in the salad wasn’t good. Chicken kabobs were soo dry and HARD it did not taste like they were marinated at all. I love PITA CHIPS, but they’re pita chips were also HARD I could not even bite them😡.Like how is this place rated as a 4/5 star restaurant???......NEVER will I eat or recommend anyone here, I wouldn’t even let my dog eat here🤢🤮
The serves is always good when we go there (which is way too often), and the food is amazing and diverse. You can make most of their meals vegetarian simply by asking to replace the meat with either black or refried beans (or in some cases you can get both!), which is great for some of my family members. Their portions are huge, and we never leave hungry. Their lunch buffet was great for me. My step-dad really likes the Cuban sandwich. And my brother was fond of their beer selection.
The food here was absolutely amazing. Best Mexican/Cuban food in town. However, service is SUPER slow. Took about 20 min to get our drinks and then forever to get a refill. Also took quite a bit of time for our server to check on us. Still giving it 4 stars because the food was so good. Also, its very busy and seemingly understaffed so I feel for our server.
The best Mexican restaurant in Toledo. Every thing was great. Street tacos and steak fajita both fantastic! Music addition was nice touch with music being played at level that was still able to have conversations without yelling at the table. Would definitely recommend it!! PS drink margaritas!!
Food was good. We ordered the grilled pineapple with shrimp. It was huge. Enough for 2. One downside was the seating. We had reservations for 9 and the seating was only for 8 when we got there. We were not offered another seat. And the table was so squeezed in we could barely move. We could not push our chairs back for lack of room.
We love this place. The chicken apporreado and the beef vieja are so delicious. I get the chicken in the enchiladas and they never disappoint. The place is loud and vibrant. The bar has TVs to catch the game. The dining room areas have beautiful blown glass decorations. It’s a very casual place but nice enough for a date.
We were there for a comedy show... which was ultimately ruin by a very rude table who talked excessively loud throughout. Upset that the event coordinator and/or staff only said something one time ... and though it continued nothing further was done. I cannot say I will return for another event.Service was slow... but again we were there for an event. However, the food was FANTASTIC!Since I am not sure how the restaurant is associated with the show, I am giving a 5 star for the food alone.
Love the food, absolutely delicious! I highly recommend anything in the Carlos Family Favorites with the Ropa Vieja, its AMAZING. The selection of food is unique, mix of Cuban and Mexican. Plus the restaurant is nice, well decorated, has a nice big bar you can eat and drink at. Wait staff is always friendly and prompt. Never had a bad meal. One of my absolute favorite downtown restaurants.
I came here after hearing rave reviews about the place, with my heart set on street tacos. When I got here, it was busy and full of talkative people so I got ready to enjoy some amazing food. I ordered a margarita which was pretty tasty and snacked on the chips and salsa while waiting for my food. Then, I noticed a cockroach fly from the kitchen, directly onto my table. A flying cockroach. Landed on my table and wiggled it’s antennas. The bug was bigger than at least 3 inches and the server handled it calmly like this has happened before. For me, it killed my appetite because I know when there is one big bug like that, there are more hidden somewhere.
This was my first time ever having Cuban food. I was in town for a business meeting and our client recommended this restaurant for lunch. It was amazing. Cant wait to take my husband for Cuban food sometime. I just hope I can find a place as good as this up here in the Detroit area.
Go for lunch and get the $9.50 buffet! You will NOT be disappointed! Everything tasted fresh. The taco bowls were so flakey it was like a pie crust, and the guacamole had a nice little kick and it tasted like it had just been made The Cuban sandwiches were also good. Yummy!
Fun, hopping place. Interesting and good food.I wasnt sure what differentiates Cuban food from Mexican. Im still not sure how to describe the difference since many of the names of dishes are similar. But there seems to be an emphasis on different (in my order, more starchy) vegetables. Meat is also prepared in ways I havent seen in Mexican restaurants--or in Mexico. You may or may not prefer Cuban food. My wife wasnt especially a fan. But this is a great, lively, fun restaurant and you should by all means check it out. A great place to go with friends....
They were family friendly. We went on a Saturday around 5:00. When were done eating, there was a line of people waiting to be seated. Definitely a hoppin place. They had authentic Cuban and Mexican food, including our favorite horchata drink. The portions were huge, too.
Great staff, very friendly, fun, courteous and helpful. Pays extra attention to detail on every order. Im a difficult person to take an order from and Ive never had any problems. Its a clean place as well, which is very important to me. And on top of all of that, the food is awesome!
Every single person that works here has such a pleasant attitude. Great service, great food. Lunch and dinner ALWAYS have something for EVERYONE! Comfortable atmosphere! Staff is very personal and always aiming to keep the customer happy. Very clean. And the food is ALWAYS cooked to perfection and not to mention, reasonably priced! This is without a doubt, my absolute favorite place to eat and even just to come have a drink after work.
I’ve been in the food industry for 10 years now and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. We had a group of 3 come in and let them know we were going to have a party 6-10 & was told it would be 25 minutes. Once the rest of the party arrived, (they had already been waiting 20 minutes) we sat at the bar for 10 minutes without being greeted. I was never offered a water, a drink, chips, nothing. But yet another party came and sat right next to us at the same bar and got drinks right away. I then approached the hostess asking how much longer considering it was 35 minutes at this rate (which I can understand because we had a larger party). She told us 30 more minutes. I asked why or why she didn’t feel the need to notify us at the least. After talking to another staff member, he then told us he couldn’t accommodate us. Mind you, there was an empty back room, an empty table that sat 7 people, & we still were never offered an appetizer while we waited or even a drink at the least. Communication was awful, and customer service was terrible.
This was my second time coming here, the first time we were not spoken to given a seat. We just stood there..... lol so we wanted to try a new place and we wound up here again. The wait staff was pretty good and the food was excellent! The drinks were fantastic. I will definitely come here again in the future.
The best place in Toledo! The staff, the food, the margaritas If you are here visiting or if you live here, this is a Toledo gem.We were looking forward to some GREAT Cuban food, but instead we got overpriced mediocre tacos. Call me crazy, but I think 3-4$ per taco is EXPENSIVE which I will pay for specialty tacos with premium ingredients like short rib or scallops- but not chicken or pork carnitas.
My absolute favorite place I come here at least 3-4 times a week (the chicken fajitas are amazing) customer service is bomb. This is definitely my go to place & I definitely recommend. I just hate that they don’t have the full menu at night time 😭😭😭 but other then that they’re great.
Delicious food but one glaring problem... No Cuban Coffee!!!! This is a staple item for any Cuban restaurant. The waiter said the owner doesnt want to buy the machine it takes to make it. I imagine it would pay for itself quickly.Large portions so come hungry.Atmosphere: B-Taste: AValue: BQuantity: A++
We sat on the patio on a nice spring day....and so did everyone else who smokes cigarettes. There were multiple people smoking right in front of the door to the restaurant. I thought this was illegal in Ohio?! Their outdoor patio is connected to the entrance so you have to walk through the patio to get inside. Food was great, drinks were great. I think we may have had a lot better experience if it werent for people smoking in the area we were trying to eat in. Wife left with a headache and it ruined the rest of our date night. We had a babysitter hired and we were going to Uber around town.
Pretty flavorful food. Good margaritas. Worst waitstaff Ive seen. We walk in the door and wait to be seated. Minutes go by. Employees avoid looking our way as though we werent even there. We finaly get seated. The most defeated impatient looking waiter gets our drink orders and leaves. A few minutes go by and he glances at our table, shocked realizing that he didnt put the order in for our drinks. Keep in mind this place is not very busy at this point. We order a jalapeño dip appetizer. We dont have to wait too long for it to come out. What we received was a small ramekin with a small glob of beans with a thin drizzle of cheese with Big ol sliced jalapeños taking up 80% of the volume of it. This cost $6 by the way. We get our meals and they were nothing to write home about but acceptable. After finishing our meals we got to relax and sit in our booth for 35 minutes before somebody who wasnt our waiter took care of our bill.Tell me why I can go to Dennys or chick fil a and have a $5 meal and get service like a first class flight. But I come to this pretentious Taco joint spend $60 and get treated like dirt? Absolutely absurd.
I am allergic to tomatoes and made that very clear when I ordered. Still there they were and the waitress never came back to see if everything was ok.She did come back with the bill and I requested to see the manager who never came.Paid the bill and still tipped but I will not go back.
We have typically never had an issue with Poco Loco and understand there are some off nights. But last night we went out with friends and had an awful experience. The drinks were lightly poured. And the majority of the food was undercooked. I was able to eat the 3 oz of Beef on the plate but that was all that was cooked. The remaining 90% of the food sat on my plate. The waitress barely came to our table and acted as if we were an inconvenience. After talking to the manager, he apologized and gave us a 40% discount on the meal. Which I was perturbed with because I ate literally 10% of what was on my plate. Nothing else was edible. It’s never good when you go out to dinner and have to stop for fast food after. If this was my first time, I would never come back. But we like this place. They usually aren’t this bad.Last night, I was very disappointed.
Saturday night in Toledo Ohio is like being nowhere at all, sang John Denver with angst. If only Mr. Denver would have stumbled upon Carlos Poco loco, his song would be singing the praises of the authentic Cuban food restaurant that delights ones nostrils on Adams Street all the way from 14th to Ashland.Welcomed by a fun & modern, yet, slightly bohemoth Cuban tile work adorned establishment, one can grab the Toledo City paper and take a seat at the bar by themselves, order a house margarita, enjoy. Or, come with a date! Does said date have particular dietary restrictions? No worries! Carlos Poco loco has you covered with thier colorful menu that includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.Hipsters, housewives, lawyers, doctors, vagrants, beatniks, all come together! A family place, a date night place, a mild or spicy place, the choice is yours. Carlos Poco loco simply provides the canvas, and welcomes you to paint and enjoyable and delightful experience.(Read in Jerry Andersons voice for the full experience)
The menu has nice variety a that is definitely a Cuban/Mexican blend. I had the chorizo chicken and it took me back to my Hispanic upbringing. My wife had a spicy chicken dish that was much lighter and was more reminiscent of Cuban fare.We will definitely be back and highly recommend Poco Loco, the food is great and the prices are reasonable.
This was our first visit and it was great. We are 71 and 72 so we dont usually eat a large meal. Saved money by ordering ala carte hoping the portions would be smaller. If they were, Im glad we didnt order the full meal. Would definetly recommend this to anyone and we will be back!
Went before school yesterday and got the Ropa Vieja sandwich to go. Was a little disappointed when I opened it all up and had fries (a generous portion!) instead of beans and rice, but I also didnt specify (and that was on me, not them). They also gave me chips and salsa to go, and were very generous with those as well! If you get the sandwich and are looking for those wonderful fried plantains, well, dont look far theyre on your sandwich. Loved the food, loved the atmosphere for the short time I was in there, hate the parking. Will definitely go again!
I am giving it 2 star because I had eaten here at the location initially and liked it.Was happy to discover they delivered to our area.We subsequently ordered from them 2 or 3 times over the past couple months, every time when I got a craving for tacos or burritos.First time we ordered they forgot half our order and then refused to deliver it and make right their mistake. We had to pick it up ourselves thus defeating the reason for ordering take-outDelivery order number 2 we ordered 3 pork carnitas and 3 chorizo tacos. Spent over $40 for 6 tacos with a few add-ons and didnt even get the chorizo tacos. Ruined my night.Just straight robbed me.Terrible serviceOver pricedRude----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW ADDITION:Upon seeing the reply to this review from Carlos Poco Loco, I feel that my disapproval was misdirected and meant for the delivery service used to deliver the food. They are making a bad name for you. You should consider hiring a dedicated driver or two for in-house delivery.Eat Street has taken my money before and not even delivered or refunded my stuff.

2021-08-26Carlos Poco Loco is one of my favourite authentic Cuban and Mexican restaurants around! Their staff is so friendly and outgoing. I love everything on their menu but I do have to recommend their Queso Chicken and any of their Grilled Pineapples dishes. They do have a variety of Vegan options that are amazing. Margaritas are all very good. Atmosphere is also awesome!

2021-12-22Ok first of all to the owners: keep up the great work the restaurant has improved phenomenally, from the food quality to the entertainment. Spot on!To anyone reading this dont skip this restaurant if you are in Toledo. Also make an effort to come on a Tuesday night to enjoy amazing live music. The food is great, specially for the price, and thats coming from a Cuban. We all had the Cuban food part of the restaurant and its genuine Cuban food. I truly hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

2021-10-03They had such great vegan options on their menu. I had the vegan Taco Salad and vegan tamales, both were amazing. Portions were very generous, so filling and well thought out. So glad I stopped by, will be a return customer when Im in the area.

2022-04-02Great authentic Mexican cuisine. If youre looking for a quick bite or a full sit down dinner, this should be your go to place. This was my first time visiting, but as I am familiar with what I like, I didnt have a hard time with the menu. We ordered asada street tacos, a chicken chimichanga, the carnitas dinner, and a beef enchilada. We had a small pitcher of raspberry Patron margs, which were reasonably priced and delicious. The food was out in five minutes and they were busy on a Saturday evening. No joke. I was thoroughly impressed and Ive been to every decent place around. The staff was very attentive. The atmosphere is great. They had a live band, which was also excellent. We actually ordered a few things to go... the vacas fritas and another chicken chimichanga. I would recommend to anyone, from a beginner to the experienced eater. Great stuff guys!

2022-06-30This is THE BEST Mexican food Ive had in a long time. I love Mexican food and have been disappointed in the others in the Toledo area. I would definitely recommend Carlos Poco Loco. You will not be disappointed. The food was amazing, the margaritas were strong (but not too strong) and the prices were very reasonable. Plus, the food came out so fast. I was really surprised. Our waitress Jessica was also amazing. Very helpful, attentive even when she became busy and was super sweet. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

2021-07-22Such a rare find, a restaurant that focuses on Mexican food, but also does some nice vegan choices! Their menu does a great job of letting you know how to select vegan (or vegetarian). Staff was really kind and responsive. We enjoyed a ln early dinner at one of their outside tables.+1 for the patron margarita

2022-06-14This is a Toledo staple!! A must-have downtown. My friends and I have been going here for years. Its one of my favorite restaurants to come to on a normal basis. Even their a la cart options are so yummy. Their horchata is especially delicious if youre looking for a sweet treat.
