Sometimes !!! You dont get what you pay for. I ordered a LG pep and sausage with extra cheese and extra sausage. I did not get the extra. sausage I paid for. I am a first time customer and probably a last time customer of Capuanos pizza. I have included a pic of my pizza I received. If I PAY for extra toppings, I should receive extra toppings.
Pretty good pizza you can taste the yeast in their dough if that is something you like. They have great salads and a hot bacon dressing but, must eat fresh or the dressing hardens. Definitely worth the check out there isnt very many non chain pizza shops left and I think they are what make pizza great giving you a variety of tastes and little things to love about it.
Im giving one star because they were trying on a really hard day, otherwise my experience was a total disaster. I did get them on a bad night where they were overwhelmed with orders, but they should have just turned away my business instead of trying to give me a horrible results. I waited 2 hours for my pizzas, including a half hour inside at the store when I was told when I arrived it would only be a few minutes. I sat right in front of the guy at the counter for a half hour and when I asked if my pizzas were done, he didnt remember who I was. Then he surfaced a minute later with my 2 lukewarm pizzas. He forgot about me! I got the pizza to my house full of out of town guests and they were awful. They were cold, undercooked, and unimpressive for the large price I paid for premium local pizza. My guests ate a piece or two to be polite so I was left with a ton of leftover pizza that I eventually threw away. I paid $46 to have this place ruin my holiday dinner. Never going there again and Ive already told all my neighbors and acquaintances to stay far away. Too bad too because I really want to support local, but the businesses around here are making it impossible lately with their substandard service and products. They had a sign that they were understaffed, but that is no excuse for the service and pizza I got for the price. My recommendation is make the drive to New Albany for Mellow Mushroom instead.
The worst experience I paid to have. I paid cash when I placed the order wrong move. I was told my pizza would be 30mins okay no problem so I went to the carryout next door to kill some time. Sat in my car a bit and went in and was told it would be a few more minutes okay no worries. I felt treated as if I was waiting in a whites only establishment. The person making the pizza was upset because I asked if the pizza was thin crust and made comments about me not getting a refund because I already paid. When I asked for napkins the girl said they didnt have any then said she lied they had some. . To say the
Been eating Capuanos since I was a kid, even though I didnt grow up here. I used to have a family of friends that lived in pataskala and they would sometimes bring it to their cabin in McConnelsville it was best Id ever had. Continued getting it when I moved to Reynoldsburg. Today was the last Ill ever even try to order. I attempted to place an order today before the game and the person who answered the phone was downright nasty and rude completely unprofessional, so after hanging up I decided to call back and cancel the order, same person answered and wasnt any better in a bad apology attempt than he was in greeting me initially. The quality is up and down anyways my wife refused to get it anymore so only time I would get it is when she was out of town, like today. Its a shame when people given the responsibility of carrying on a legacy of a business thats a community staple for so long, and they just trash it and have know idea what such a business has meant to pataskala. SMH signed a sad former Capuanos satisfied customer.
Absolutely delicious food. The kids were able to get their own pizzas, so no topping wars. We got the Italian sub, which was superb. We also got The Works pizza. The crust had a perfect snap to it, and the green peppers were so fresh and flavorful that I actually asked where they got them (turns out they buy them locally). Definitely go here.
Wasnt a bad experience, wasnt a good experience. Was just an average pizza place. Pizza itself was just okay. Nothing spectacular, or anything to write home about. Doubtful I would make the 40 minute drive again. Would possibly stop in again if we were in the area. The staff was friendly, however there is no wait staff. They waived their hands from behind the counter when your order was up. The dining room was picnic tables mostly. Most had chairs on one side of the table, and a bench on the other. The bench that some of our party sat on said the bench was pretty shaking. The decor was mediocre. A bunch of mishmash of things.
Great home town pizza. Awesome memories from childhood. Things have not changed much which is good. Keep up the great work. Best to order out as the place is small and parking is limited. Order well in advance especially on traditional busy nights as orders get backed up.
Pizza was excellent! The sausage was flavorful, toppings were plentiful, perfect amount of cheese. We went for lunch and the place was empty (which worried me a bit), we had ordered ahead. The only downsides, if it had been crowded most of the seating is picnic table style which I am not a fan of. Also there were several TVs but none were even turned on & no music playing, I prefer a little background noise. But hey, if those are the downsides, that means they are doing everything else right....the FOOD!
I CANNOT say enough good things about this place! Best pizza, hands down(full disclosure, I worked there as a teen twenty-some years ago). Highest quality ingredients. Made entirely from scratch at the time of ordering. Family owned and operated by three generations of the family for more decades than I can remember. Warm, friendly atmosphere where Joe knows most of his regulars by name, and talks to them all. Its Cheers as a pizza place.
Edit July 2019: Simply awful pizza this time, like something Id get at a gas station, Chinese buffet, or school lunchroom. The crust is soft and chewy, sauce and cheese have almost no flavor, scant toppings. For charging a premium price this is simply unacceptable. I dont know what happened since I was here a couple months ago.Old 4 star review: Has the best flavor of pizza Ive had in a while. The cheese and pepperoni both have taste, and the crust is a little yeasty and firm texture throughout. Not quite as crisp as Pizzaroni but tastes better. A touch pricier than I would like but still tasty.
Capuanos pizza is theee best! I grew up eating here when I was a kid with my mother and father (Im 26 now), and now I reside in Florida. Every time I visit Ohio, I make at least two stops here for pizza, subs, and salad. If I could ask them to deliver it in the mail, I totally would!! Staff is friendly, family oriented, and very personable as well. Just an overall great place.
The pepperoni pizza and dessert pizza were good. I found the salad to be underwhelming though. It had too much cheese and pepperoni on it, and not enough actual vegetables for my liking. I would have preferred more tomatoes, and maybe even some cucumbers and carrots. And when I tried asking for a salad without pepperoni, I was interrupted by the employee mid-question, who said salads are pre-made and therefore cant be changed.
New to this place, called in an order, not very friendly, seemed annoyed that I asked questions. Order pick up not friendly, hmmm....I thought customer service skills was part of a business. Will not go back. Food was nothing special, can get better elsewhere. And better customer service elsewhere. Not good on first impression and wont return.
We visited Capuanos Pizza for the first time with some friends. I ordered the Mexican Pizza which was really good. My husband ordered the meet lovers pizza and mild wings. There was no sauce on the pizza and the crust didnt have any flavor. Our female friend ordered Roma Tomato and Sweet Basil Pizza. It had absolutely no taste at all. There was no basil on it and not even a tomato on every piece. She ended up throwing the pizza away and ordering a sub. Her husband ordered a sub and wings. They both liked the subs but not the wings. They wings were difinitely mild because there was no sauce on them at all! Will not be returning!!
My husband and I had a terrible experience with this shop. Our order was wrong and instead of fixing the problem, the owner was rude and demeaning. They attempted to remedy the situation by throwing on warm ingredients, instead of remaking the pizza and apologizing. When I called the shop to complain, the owners wife apologized, but then quickly defended her husband and made excuses for their actions. We were very polite and disappointed--as we thoroughly enjoyed their pizza. We will never come back to this establishment, because the owners dont care about how they treat their customers. They simply justify their pitiful actions and continue on with their business. Do better.
Have you guys lost your minds with your high prices? High price, and generic ingredients that dont taste the same as they used to taste. Would rather order from chain then local with your generic ingredients asking premium prices for your name. Get back to your 1980 and 1990 roots please
I called in and ordered 2 meatballs sandwich and when I pick it up, and got home I have 2 sandwiches that are not cooked! meatballs on the buns with frozen cheese on it and 2 little containers of sauce on the side. Am I supposed to cook this on my own?! Disgusting! I will never go back here!
Worse place ever! They tell me they have mayo and sebd miracle whip dressing. I tell them I want dont want peppers on one sandwhich and they still put them on it. The other was supposed to get peppers and didnt have them. I valled and he was like sorry.. Im like is that all? He said yes and I called him an idiot and he blocked me from calling back! I hate places like this. Privately owned and thry think they can do what they want and get away with it. Nobody I know will ever use them again!!!!

2022-03-20Pretty cozy pizza place. We loved it. Pizzas very fresh and tasty. They make the dough fresh everyday and we felt it. Freshly cut vegetables 🥗. I really liked the rustic look inside. Big picnic tables so comfy for placing big size pizzas. It was so warm inside we felt like home. This place looks so vintage from outside as well, someone who likes old style ambiance from retro time will for sure like this place. We liked it so much. The garlic bread was soft and fresh. The pizza prices are also economy. Please try this gem of the town place and you will sure come again.

2022-06-04This was our first time here. My brother-in-law lives in Pataskala, always recommends Capuano’s, and told us to try it. So, here we are! From the start, we love this place! The outside is clean, rustic, and welcoming, in a quiet little corner lot. Inside is neatly decorated, in old memorabilia of years gone by.Now, the food. It was GREAT! No complaints at all. We ordered a Mexican pizza, a BLT Sub, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Joe & Lana’s BLT Salad, for dine-in. Everything had great flavor. Portions were very generous. Staff was friendly. Nothing about Capuano’s, or this meal, was disappointing. Highly recommend Capuano’s, and will be back!As for the whiners that write the negative reviews about this place, grow up! Next time you’re hungry, have mommy change your diaper, and get you some fresh Gerber food, since you haven’t developed a taste for adult food yet!🤣

2021-10-27Longest serving pizza place in Pataskala and I understand why! If you are looking for a legit St.Louis/Tavern style pizza, this is a pretty solid choice. Had to wait longer than expected for 1 pizza pie and an Italian sub; however, on their counter they have a notice to customers about the possible delay due to being short on staff. Ordered a large pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, and banana pepper pizza - they were definitely generous with the toppings and every inch was covered, edge to edge. Italian sub was pretty good as well, nothing lacking but nothing that made it truly stand out. Overall a great place and will be back.

2021-08-21Some family came in from out of town so we decided to stop here. It was a nice little hidden place, with an Old town feeling. There were no servers as they were short staffed. You had to order at the register and pick it up when it was done there too. It took about an hour for the food to be done but it was worth it. (Short staffed so understandable to a degree) 5 star food 4 star experience. I’ll eat here again.

2022-07-02We have been going to Capuano Pizza for 32 years, it has been the best pizza over the years. I recently ordered a take out order, I waited in the lobby 30 minutes, and it was a 50 minute wait before I got there. I understand business is slammed at those hours, but you dont tell someone 50 minute on the phone, and when you have to wait 30 more minutes in lobby. After I got home, the pizza was burnt up very crunchy no sauce. This is not how Capuanos does business, I am going to talk with Joe, Im sure he will address the issue and make it right. I hope they find good help, or management watch closely to get better consistency. We love Capuanos Pizza, just need to be more consistent.

2022-06-17I have been going to Capuanos for like 35 years. I’ve gotten to know the owner, Joe from my times of ordering pizza and subs. This guy is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met and I have a lot of respect for him. The pizza is great, consistent, and delicious. My favorite thing to order, however, is their double meat Italian subs! They are super filling and great!! Really good subs there!! This is a family run business that has served Pataskala fantastic for as long as I can remember. Very highly recommended!

2022-06-20Ive been getting pizza here since the early 80s. I dont live by Pataskala anymore but my family still makes trips out there to get their pizza. Its still very good and probably the best in Pataskala! Their sizes go from personal pizza size to a 17 inch pizza that can easily feed 4-6 people. All their food is good. So you cant go wrong. They do not deliver and never have but its worth picking up. Their pizza is tavern style but its not a super thin crust. Slightly thicker than Donatos or Masseys. They pile on the toppings too. They serve Coke products in 20oz bottles and 2 Liters. Bottled water is available too. They have a few tables to dine-in too. Public restrooms are available. If youre a pizza fan I cant see you not liking their pizza. Its not too expensive either.

2022-06-16This time around the food wasnt up-to- par. They were extremely busy. My pizza was burnt and the bread on my sub was pretty hard. I think they need to expand the the business, add more ovens, add more phone lines and get up-to-date ordering systems. Possibly on-line ordering.
